Is Jesse Jackson in Trouble with the Secret Service?

Jesse, Jesse, Jesse. Now you’ve gone and done it. You threatened to remove by force the testicles of Barack Obama. And Barack was worried about the “Whitey” tape? Hell, for all practical purposes, Jesse Jackson is accusing Barack of being white. He has outed him on the race card game. Here’s the video:

Nuts? Well, at least you didn’t call them “stones,” “seeds,” “balls,” “nads,” or “raisins.” That’s the good news. The bad news? You have made a death threat against a Presidential candidate. Ask the Secret Service to bring that special “male” only KY. It helps smooth out the full body cavity search.

So, by declaring that Barack–the man with a white mother and white grandparents–is talking down to “black” folk, are you ready to make the case that Barack is a honky hiding as a black man. Man up, dude. Just admit that for you told the truth and you liked how it felt. Made my day.

Let’s face it. Jesse Jackson is from Chicago and knows Chicago politics. He knows Barack–good and bad. And today Jesse was pointing out the fact that when it comes to the African American community Barack is a poseur. He is not really leading black people or fighting on their behalf; and he is certainly not ready to lead America.

Martin Luther King said, “I have a dream.” Jesse Jackson now lets us know that when it comes to Barack, “he has a scheme.” Barack conveniently stayed away from Memphis on Martin Luther King Day (Jesse was there as was Hillary, who gave an authentic, moving speech). So what is the scheme? Barack wants to convince us that he is the second coming of JFK. That’s why he wants to speak at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The same spot where John Kennedy challenged the Soviet tyrants. Now i am beginning to understand why Jesse Jackson voiced the desire to emasculate Barack Obama. Jesse remembers JFK and Barack, you are no JFK.

And Jesse? You played a leading role in helping integrate buses and getting black folks the right to sit where they wanted on the bus. Get ready. Barack is likely to toss you under the bus. At least you won’t be lonely.

Comment by makes me want to take up chain smokin | 2008-07-09 20:37:15

Of all mics to say unguarded stuff into!!!!

And he’s apologizing!

“This is a sound bite in a broader conversation about urban policy and racial disparities. I feel very distressed because I’m supportive of this campaign and with the senator, what he has done and is doing…I said he comes down as speaking down to black people. The moral message must be a much broader message. What we need really is racial justice and urban policy and jobs and health care. That’s a range of issues on the menu…Then I said something I regret was crude. It was very private. And very much a sound bite.”

Jackson reportedly did not want to elaborate on the context of his remarks, except to say he was trying to explain that Obama was hurting his relationship with black voters by recently conducting “moral” lectures at African-American churches.

Stay tuned…

A thump, bump, of someone special getting thrown under the bus. Ouch!
Yes, I hope all the stations play this over and over and over.

Well, I have always had a soft spot for Jesse. I, for one, welcome him under this big bus.

Here we go again! That bus is surely a double decker by now. Move over Pastor Wright, Johnson, Father Phleger, FISA, campaign financing, gays, Iraq, Abortion rights, Rezko, Ayres DNC, RBC, mono-language Americans, black fathers, dead uncle who freed jews, grandma? is there room for Jesse Jackson? Roll that bus onto Obama’s Ark, he’s sailing to Germany to discover the “Old World.” He’s positioning himself at the Brandenburg Gate ready to throw JFK under the bus too. Is there no limit to his hubris.

Are we the only ones on the planet that haven’t drunk the kool aid?

Just another Crazy Uncle? It has been widly reported that Michelle Obama practically grew up in Jesse Jacksons house, and is best friends with one of Jesse Jacksons daughters! Jesse Jr is one of Obamas campaign directors, and one of Jesse Jackson kids is one of Barack Obamas daughters god parents.Do not be so Niave people,This is the Politics of Chicago and the Politice of Obama! We are all aware that the Obama Campaign uses the race card anytime it is convenient for the Obama Campaign, as it usually always benefit’s none other then the Obama campaign. This is just another example of another long time Obama cohort { Reverend Wright, Father Pfleger, and now Jesse Jackson } making racial statements to deflect attention away from a very problematic time in the Obama campaign. By Jesse Jackson taking this hit in the media,he is getting all the media’s attention off of all the talk of Obama breaking his major campaign promises, in particular The FISA Bill, which Obama had promised his supporters that he would against and decided to vote for the FISA BILL.Yes he has broken another major campaign promise, and has had a very tough week or two, as he has been taking a lot of heat from the media, and even his own supporters. To “deflect” the attention away from Obamas political inexperience, and his FISA Vote yesterday, It is just a little to convenient for The Obama Campaign, headed by Jesse Jackson JR. by the way, that comments made by Jesse Jackson Sr. made Sunday suddenly broke yesterday.Just after Obamas key vote supporting President Bush’s FISA Bill that had been threatening to break even Obamas staunchest of supporters. As of yesterday Obama was being criticized daily by media outlets and supporters alike, about the many flip flops made by the Candidate of Hope and Change, and now even Jesse Jr. came to Obamas defense “Ripping” Jesse Sr’s words, thus successfully deflecting the media attention away from Obamas Hard move to the right! Well played Camp Obama. Now all the pundit’s are talking about is Jesse Jackson not Barack Obama. This is not the Politics of Change, nor is it mere Politics as usual, This is the Politics of Obama. If anyone would like to see how deeply Jesse Jackson is planted in the Obama campaign, go to C-Span and watch the JUNE 29 TH Rainbow Coalition tapes, where you can watch Jesse Jackson and other African American leaders planning the first 30 day’s of The Obama presidency. To bad that it has not been reported how Jesse Jackson Jr. has been treating any elected delegates that did not support Obama thru out this election season.

Comment by granny | 2008-07-09 23:12:20

Me, too, Betty. I was just saying earlier today before I saw this that I like Jesse. I like his poetry. This is cracking me up. How poetic! Poetic justice, that is, for the Barack campaign to be so condescending about Jesse’s run for the presidency by calling President Clinton racist when he said that Jesse had run a good campaign in SC. Oh, yes! I forgot. CNN, MSNBC, etc. conveniently left out that last part of President Clinton’s statement.

Comment by Ciarda | 2008-07-10 12:28:22

Same here, and Jesse Sr. was about the only person that called Obama and his campaign for smearing Bill and Hillary in South Carolina. He emphatically said Bill and Hillary aren’t racists and the Obama campaign was indulging in “gotcha politics”.

Jesse Sr.’s wife Jacqueline Lavinia Brown made a radio campaign ad in South Cariolina in support of Hillary, and Jesse Sr.’s youngest son Yusef DuBois Jackson also backed Hillary during the primary

It’s Jesse Jr that is a repulsive misogynist person, he lead the smearing of Bill and Hillary in South Carolina. He made a violent misogynist statement in Iowa saying Obama knew how to handle a white woman- like OJ Simpson, etc…

Jesse Sr gets trashed in the media only a bit less than Hillary. Isn’t it “interesting” that both ran presidental campaigns that united all kinds of disadvantaged people across racial, gender, sexual orientations, and age lines. Neither played one disadevantaged group against the others like Obama did. People forget that Jesse Jackson won 13 states during the 1988 primaries despite the media machine turned so hard against him, nearly as bad as it was against Hillary. The truth is the corporate owned media has always stood against any of the disadvantaged peoples gaining any economic leverage. They will always back the candidate that keeps the disadantaged “in their place”. This election cycle has proven even the so called progressive media is controlled by the same mentality, whether that be Daily Kos, Huffington Post, or Air America. On the progressive side this election has proven that about the only truely progressive bloggers are feminists 35 and older- those of us old enough not to fall for fauxgressive con artists.

Comment by BernieO | 2008-07-10 07:07:26

Barack has already thrown Jesse under the bus – or more accurately stood by passively while the media and his surrogates did. How insulting must it have been to Jackson when there was such an uproar over Bill Clinton comparing (accurately) Obama’s SC win to Jesse’s? The implication was that tying Obama to Jesse in any way was equivalent to tying him to an ax murderer. It was disgusting how few stood up for Jesse. He’s not perfect but he has done a hell of a lot more for the black community than Barack (and had by the time he was Barack’s age). He risked his life in the civil rights movement for crying out loud.

I think Jesse has been fuming about this for months and it just came out publicly.

Comment by Ciarda | 2008-07-10 12:34:24

Yeah, I think it was that too, Jesse Sr. had reached the end of his ability to even want to make excuses for Obama anymore and let his anger fly.

There must be great troubles in the Obama camp and Jessie Sr. was effectively thrown under the bus by his own son.

According to Obamabots, this is all fine and dandy because everyone hates Jesse, both whites and blacks who “get it,” so Obama is now free to distance himself from JJ.

That might not be a good thing if that tape of Michelle does exist. He could release it himself. You know he has a copy of all those tapes from the Rainbow Coalitions…On second thought I think Obama should throw Jesse under the bus. Throw him hard. We wouldn’t have to wait to see if the Republicans do have it. In fact I think Obama supporters should attack Jesse the same way they’ve attacked us. Go get him!

Comment by stodghie | 2008-07-09 22:26:25

Comment by jawbone | 2008-07-10 07:01:25

Actually, the furor over Bill Clinton mentioning Rev. Jackson’s primary wins was insulting to Jackson–even from the Obama camp. It was not racist to mention Jackson’s electoral accomplishments, but it sure was disrespectful to call it racist.

But it was mostly amped up by the MCM (Mainstream Corporate Media), so the Obama bots got to look as if they weren’t really dissing Jackson.

This was pretty funny in light of reporting this morning that Obama at the fundraiser for Hillary in Manhatten forgot about the fundraising for Hillary! He gave his speech, said goodnight, walked off the stage–and had to go back out to haltingly and gracelesly ask the crown to look for the envelopes “or whatever” under their chairs and make a donation to Hillary for…unity.

What a suave dude!

He couldn’t even remember the damn fundraiser was for her! Think he’s going to think about any of us? Heh.

We are sooo not on his radar screen.

I have never critized them for voting out of the pride of hue..but have critized them for turning their backs against someone that has proven over her entire adult life to have FOUGHT and SUPPORTED over and over again the very issues that they and other Americans cared about.

Could O’Reilly be any more pompous and condescending? I can’t imagine how.

Jackson just showed us what’s underneath the fake show of party unity. I bet they all loathe Obama, too, but the train has left the station and they are making a show of enjoying the ride. What a bunch of hypocrites, all of them.

Comment by Chicago Joe | 2008-07-09 22:25:17

Billo has been sucking up to Obama big time because he wants him on the show. I think you remember when he ambushed Obama at some event, and Obama told him he would be on “after the primaries.” But that was BS and now a day doesn’t go by that O’Reilly references how he wants him to be on the show.

Comment by Hope | 2008-07-09 22:28:32

You’re right Joe, he has. It’s pretty tiresome. It would serve no purpose since OReilly panders to him all the time anyway. Now if Hannity could interview him, that might provide some insight.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-07-10 01:05:55

chicago joe — its not sucking up its damning Obama with faint praise. For the Republicans in a year where the Dems were supposed to take it all watching the Democratic Party destroy itself is great theater. Can you blame them for enjoying this spectacle? Hillary would have won in a landslide — instead the fix was in for the guy with no experience, no ethics who is morally bankrupt. Pelosi and Dean have handed the election to McCain. Perhaps someday we will find out why….

Obama does a really good job of talking down to all the little people, not just blacks.

Comment by ad78 | 2008-07-09 21:01:21

Another AA reverend calls Obama for what he is: a pompous, lying, manipulative politician. He preaches to the black community by claiming to be one of them and the white people love him for it because they think he is essentially white and because they cannot go to the black community themselves with a sanctimonious speech like that.

Comment by Janis | 2008-07-09 21:46:48

White people (and I am one) love watching black people shake their fingers in the faces of other black people. It’s gross.

Comment by Andrew | 2008-07-09 22:02:29

I agree with the substance of Obama’s argument that blacks need to look at themselves to solve their problems but I don’t believe the messenger. The messenger that lathers money on people with special programs and generously donates to racists that keep black people down. Obama is a con man who stole from Cosby and is trying to pass it off as his own.

Comment by DoroB | 2008-07-09 22:34:20

The messenger that lathers money on people with special programs and generously donates to racists that keep black people down.

I don’t understand that part of your response. Can you explain?

I don’t agree with Obama’s message at all. I see it as total and shameless pandering because while to some extent some people need to take more responsibility, racism and inequality still exist. Obama adopted the stereotype of the irresponsible black males and placed the blame on them, so I could see why JJ was so angry.

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-07-09 22:48:14

The only reason why BaJoke went on the “black morality tour” in AA churches is b/c he thinks he has that vote locked up and, as we move to the general election campaign, he wanted to make a show for white voters, by coming down ‘hard’ on AA’s.

What Barack did was BS, and JJ was right to call him on it.

Bill Cosby isn’t running for office. Obama went from bamboozlin’ to taking black families to task in like 2 days.

Fraud.

Comment by Janis | 2008-07-09 22:38:12

I just don’t trust it. Obama didn’t say what he said because he cares — he said it because he knew white people were listening in. I’m white, and I know a goddamned kissup when I hear one.

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-07-09 22:53:15

Exactly. Obama went “FISA” on AA’s, and Jackson knows it.

Total bullsh*t, transparent suck-up move to pander to white voters.

Hey, BaJoke, you’re game is weak and played out. No one is falling for your BS anymore, if they ever did.

That’s over, and you’re toast because all you had was a smile and a race card, dork.

Jesse said the truth. Obama isn’t out for the Black people. HE wouldn’t go to the Black Caucas to speak Hillary went. He wouldn’t go talk at MLK Service – Hillary and John MCCain did. Obama wants to be white and plus he wants to be black to win. What a loser.

Comment by Janis | 2008-07-09 21:42:46

EXACTLY. He’s the kind of black guy whites like — the one who tells black people who terrible they are while whites listen. Jackson doesn’t pull punches, which is why he’ll never get elected.

I still admire both McCain’s willingness to apologize at the MLK service for his earlier opinion, and the black people who shouted out while he was talking, “We forgive you,” and, “Everyone makes mistakes.” I admire those people especially, a great deal.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-07-10 01:17:46

Comment by Babs | 2008-07-09 21:09:26

I would be much more impressed had Obama given his “morality” speech years ago to the congregation at TUCC. Now it’s just more pandering to get “whitey” on his side, and I am just cynical enough to half believe it’s another set-up, this time not only to set up a smoke screen to get the FISA vote off the front page, but also to remind “whitey” that Obama believes in personal responsibility, not the racist, divisive culture of whitey’s “victims” preached at TUCC. For this crap the DNC threw Hillary under the bus – what fools!

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-07-09 21:10:26

O’Reilly said Jackson said things more damaging than this but they won’t play it. Why are they trying to protect Jackson? If Jackson were white then all of the stations would be playing the whole tape all day long.

Comment by Latte Liberal for McCain | 2008-07-09 21:18:41

Is it Jackson they’re trying to protect, or Obama?

Comment by mimi | 2008-07-09 22:07:37

Are you kidding? Rupert Murdoch probably gave the order not to run the whole tape. We’re lucky we got to see that much.

The whole idea is to appeal to the Jesse Jackson-hating white people. If Jackson is talking this way about BO then he must be alright… i.e., ‘a safe Negro.’

But they can’t show the whole tape because they don’t want to get blacks too riled up with doubts about Obama. After all, if blacks stay home on Election Day, he won’t win ONE STATE.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-07-10 09:47:38

Ethics Complaints Filed Over Obama Mortgage Rate

The conservative public-interest group Judicial Watch today filed ethics complaints alleging that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, broke the rules when he accepted a discounted deal on a 2005 mortgage loan, as first reported last week by The Post.

“Americans ought to be suspicious when a United States Senator such as Barack Obama, obtains a sweetheart mortgage deal,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. “We have serious concerns that Senator Obama’s mortgage may have violated the law and Senate ethics rules.” The group filed separate complaints with the Federal Election Commission and the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee.

Comment by Andrew | 2008-07-09 22:07:23

No one should condone bad behavior on anyone’s behalf. The Clintons got caught up in a scam and Bill paid dearly for it. Obama is involved in a scam, he ought to pay too. I’d say the same thing about McCain or whoever. NOSCAMMIES!! Besides, Obama has enough scams to keep Judicial watch busy for the next 4 years.

I have to disagree with you. The Whitewater investigations, $45million, the Clinton’s were exonerated, there was nothing there. I agree, a scam is a scam. McCain had Lincoln savings and loan, Keating five, etc.

Comment by Chicago Joe | 2008-07-09 22:31:12

You know, I read Dreams from My Father again this weekend, and in the famous race speech, Barack threw grandma under the bus because an aggressive black man made her nervous. In his own book, he talks about his own experience in rough neighborhoods and admits that he at times was fearful. So again he is such a phony, accusing grandma of being ignorant for fearing a man of color when he had those same feelings himself.

Comment by Kelly | 2008-07-10 00:07:04

What is SO wrong is that in his book- he said his grandma had already given the man some money and she got nervous when he wanted more. What does racism have to do with this story? I would be nervous too if I already gave money and the person wanted more.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-07-10 01:20:07

Yep, and in his book his grandmother did not fear black men (plural) she was frightened of a black man (singular, specific) who was agressive towards her at her bus stop.

When he made his ‘great’ speech he said that she was frightened of all black men…so he lied and trashed the woman who raised him just to cover his own ass.

Jackson wanted the AA community to know that he thinks Obama is a fraud–its a wink wink nod nod Jackson has declared his independence from Obama. He didn’t spend his whole like working on issues to give AA’s a better life and watch a fraud take it all away.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-10 01:35:50

I’m convinced that PUMA is having an effect. Kerry is having to defend his seat. Donations are going to opposition candidates of Obama supporters.

Jim Webb came out and said he’s not interested in the VP slot.

Lordy! It’s unravelling.

Obama managed to raise a paltry 100,000 for her. Meanwhile, her supporters have retired half the debt already. She’s only got 10 million to go. THAT is a significant story about the seriousness of her supporters.

No wonder the Obama team is planting seeds that Hillary may be asked to be VP. That would stop the bleeding.

Say what you want about Jesse Sr., he’s been there for the black community for the past few decades, slugging away. What the hell’s Obama done, except let a bunch of black people freeze in a tenement owned by a guy he got a sweetheart mortgage deal from? Asshole. Jackson’s done stuff for the black community. He’s been there time and again. Obama ain’t done SQUAT.

Frankly, Barky’s the kind of black guy white people like — the one who admonishes black people for white eavesdroppers. Jackson’s a black guy who doesn’t hide it, which is why he’s the kind of black guy who hasn’t got a snowball’s chance in hell of getting elected.

I don’t care for some things Jackson’s said — that “Hymietown” crack for one, I’ll never forget that — but he’s been in the fight for the black community. Obama’s been nowhere to be found.

I wonder how long it’ll be until he’s got a white hood popped onto his head and is propped up next to Bill Clinton as a KKK member now that he’s exposed himself as a Barky critic and hence a horrible racist.

We should have a contest-you know like count all the jelly beans in the jar and have a prize. In this contest we have to guess how many supporters Obama will throw under the bus to become president-what is the count so far?

The prize can be a one way ticket out of the country if the nut wins.

Comment by WildChild | 2008-07-09 21:40:56

wouldn’t it be easier to just illegally tap the nuts phone now that BOBO has approved ol Georgie boys telecom immunity package? You’re way of throwing people out of the country (YES, CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN) seems like a waste of good jellybeans.

He supposedly ranted for 1/2 hr and it never occured to him that he could at least be over-heard? Maybe he’s trying to distance himself early. Hey I read today he is 50% white via Mom, 43%african/arab via Dad, and because Dad was only part black African descent, Mr. I Am The First Black Candidate For Potus is only 63/4% true Black African. Supposedly this means he really shouldn’t be calling himself an AA. Gotta be at least 1/8 of any race to call yourself that race. (Sorry if I got the exact percents incorrect, but they are pretty close to what I read I think). Guess that makes him NOT the first black candidate for POTUS. Oh well, another lie. Too sad for all the AA who believe he represents them.

I gather JJ’s been upset with this whole shenanigans for some time now.

Remember when President Clinton was discussing the racist charge incident in SC with a reporter a while after it happened? I recall he mentioned calling JJ and discussing it with him. JJ’s response to President Clinton was, “They know what they’re doing.”

How do we know for sure he didn’t know that mic was open? Maybe this was an opportunity to get a blip in some kind of way to send his own message to the AA’s?

stodgie — there is a tape out there which has Obama in a meeting with White People laughing at the AA Community. One thing about Obama which is consistent — he thinks he’s intellectually superior to all of us.

Heh I MIGHT be willing to believe that Jesse Jackson knew what he was doing, EXCEPT that he made a statement about wanting to rip balls out. I think he meant what he said, but I don’t think he realized he was being recorded.

Under the bus!

Comment by mimi | 2008-07-09 22:24:29

If Jesse Jackson Jr. said this, this is not going to play well in the black community. Maybe not right away, but over time, people are not going to like this notion of throwing your relatives under the bus.

I hate to break it to you all, but the reason Obama got a pass in the black community over throwing his grandmother under the bus, was simply because she was white. Jackson Jr. is not going to get the same pass.

This could certainly be the beginning of a crack.

Comment by Sam | 2008-07-09 22:43:23

I am not African American and I would welcome any insight you could provide. My impression was that people would be mad at Jackson for making the comments and not being 100 percent behind Obama, like they were mad at Wright for hurting Obama’s campaign, instead of holding Obama responsible in any way. The idea is sort of that he has to do whatever he has to do (like throwing Wright under the bus) to get elected, and people like Wright and Jackson should understand that and not get too demanding…

Comment by josgirl | 2008-07-09 23:35:26

That’s the way the media will spin it, but there will be many of us who agree wholeheartedly with Jackson, whether they say it aloud or not.
Believe it or not, there is a long-standing tradition in the black community of not “buying the hype.”
The more hype, the less hope.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-07-09 23:43:44

I don’t know, my guess, Jesse Jackson voiced what a lot of AAs felt inside but were afraid to say outloud for fear of being Tavis Smilied. Or Nuttered. No pun intended. This might just give them the freedom to speak more freely about how they really feel about Barky or at the very least vote how they feel in November. I still like Jesse even though he broke my heart with the Hymey Town comments.

PONTIAC, Mich — In response to a question about the economic stimulus checks administered by the U.S. government earlier this year, Michelle Obama said her husband believes that short-term fixes don’t solve economic problems.

“You’re getting $600,” she told an audience of mostly African-American women here. “What can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything. But maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn’t pay down every bill every month.”

“Barack’s approach is that the short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good,” she continued. “And it may even feel good that first month when you get that check. And then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings,” she joked.

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-09 22:13:36

The stimulus isn’t meant to pay everyones bills for life or solve all their problems…its meant to stimulate the economy, hence the name, as in jump start.

Comment by Andrew | 2008-07-09 22:17:32

$600 earrings. That is not what you purchase during hard times. Michelle has her priorities mixed up. Maybe she needs to get a match, some of the highest quality gas and burn up her McMansion and designer clothing. Then she’ll understand.

But what are her husband’s long term economic plans? I’m not sure. I know what he says today but that could change tomorrow. Kinda like he does all of his policy proposals. Kinda like, I don’t know, FISA, Iraq and the death penalty?

Obama Briefly Forgets to Urge Help for Clinton

Wednesday, July 9, 2008 11:00 PM

Article Font Size

NEW YORK — It was all part of a careful arrangement: Democrat Barack Obama would get fundraising help from his erstwhile rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in exchange for his help retiring about $10 million of her campaign debt.

But Obama momentarily forgot his part of the deal at a major New York fundraiser Wednesday night, forcing him to retake the stage after he had concluded the event and said goodnight to the audience.

The Illinois senator spoke to about 1,000 donors in a Manhattan ballroom, all of whom had paid at least $1,000 to attend. Many were Clinton supporters until she dropped out of the race last month.

Obama praised the former first lady as tough and smart. “She wore me out,” he said to laughs.

The Democratic nominee-in-waiting then wrapped up his speech and thanked the audience, moving to shake hands along a rope line.

After a minute or so, the music was cut short and Obama returned to the stage.

“This is not the speech part, but it is important,” he said sheepishly, urging the group to reassemble.

“Senator Clinton still has some debt, and I could have had some debt if I hadn’t won. So I know the drill,” Obama said, encouraging donors to use the forms under their seats to make a contribution to help her.

“It’s very important to us, and obviously Senator Clinton will be grateful as well,” Obama said.

Things went a bit more smoothly a few blocks down Park Avenue, where Clinton introduced Obama at a smaller fundraiser that netted about $4.1 million for the joint Obama/Democratic National Committee Victory Fund.

“Whatever brings us here tonight I hope is understood to be not only unifying but transcendent,” Clinton told the 125 major donors.

Obama, in turn, echoed Clinton’s call for unity.

“With just half a wing this bird can’t fly,” he said.

The two flew together to New York from Washingtonfor the fundraising swing and were to appear together at a breakfast Thursday morning. An event to help Clinton with her campaign debt was canceled because of Senate votes in Washington

And Pampers is lecturing about morals to AA churches? This coming from the guy who attended a white hate church for 20 years? Need we quote Rev.Wright’s hate speeches? The same speeches if delivered by any other group would have had jackson and many others marching in the streets if directed towards AA’s. But the media barely bothered with it.

Would have been nice to hear the rest of the recording, lol!

He’s got to attract whites.
What better way than to signal his own disaffection with the black community by lecturing them about parental responsibility and distancing himself from a political icon like JJ?

Jesse, like so many good AAs who REALLY supported Hillary, was kneecapped into supporting Comrade Obama. One by one their spirit was broken by Barack Obama. SOme of them are facing well-funded primary races because they didn’t kneel at Obama’s feet fast enough.

This is truly pathetic.

Comment by elise | 2008-07-09 23:42:37

Rep. John Lewis for example, Uppity. He is a man of great dignity and devotion to Civil Rights. Because he supported Hillary in the beginning and didn’t switch sides fast enough to suit some, he is facing a primary opponent for the first time.

He and Josea Williams led the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Al. and he was severely beaten by the Alabama State Police. He was one of the organizers for the March on Washington. He was arrested several times and beaten. I’m including a link here for more information about his life.

I guess you could say he has been thrown under the Bridge. If I am able, I plan to donate to his re-election campaign. This is one of the great tradgies of this nasty campaign and the DNC needs to pay for this.

That’s too bad if he’s beaten due to his support of Hillary. From what I read, the AA congress group pressured Obama to consider Hillary for VP.

I think they are aware and concerned about the racial divide as well as the backlash that is growing.

I find Jesse Jackson Jr’s statement to be the pathetic one – publicly condemning and repudiating his father. If I was his father, I’d tell him to turn the mirror on himself. What about his e-mails to delegates and superdelegates who were supporting Hillary “threatening” to run candidates against them in the next election if they didn’t change their support to Obama? That is a known fact. What kind of new politics is that? What kind of unity is that? What kind of thuggish behavior and low-down dirty, roll in the mud politics is that? Talk about a hypocrite! The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. He has no room to pontificate and play holier than thou with ANYBODY! He should have kept his roly-poly mouth shut and if I was Jesse, I’d tell him exactly that!

Isn’t he lovely? From the Associated Press:

Obama briefly forgets to urge help for Clinton
By BETH FOUHY – 1 hour ago
NEW YORK (AP) — It was all part of a careful arrangement: Democrat Barack Obama would get fundraising help from his erstwhile rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in exchange for his help retiring about $10 million of her campaign debt.
An event to help Clinton with her campaign debt was canceled because of Senate votes in Washington.

Comment by AF catfish | 2008-07-09 23:49:45

I think by using the word “transcendent” Hillary was signaling to her supporters that she was full of shit. That’s just not a word she uses, because it doesn’t mean much. Hillary values boldness and clarity.

“Whatever brings us here tonight I hope is understood to be not only unifying but transcendent,” Clinton told the 125 major donors.

Comment by bcraig | 2008-07-10 00:12:07

Larry –
You are falling right into their trap… Jesse Jackson knew exactly what he was doing, so did Reverend Wright. Their cynical strategy is to make Obama appear less “black” to “white racist” Americans. It’s no coincidence that these two radical black leaders, who also vehemently endorse Obama, have publicly criticized Obama. A black person (think – Bill Cosby, Condoleezza Rice, Collin Powell, Joe Frazier) who openly criticizes the black community, or seems to embrace “white culture” is labeled a race-traitor or an Uncle Tom. Black folk are going to vote for Obama no matter what at this point. The Obama campaign knows that by demeaning Obama for criticizing black people, Jesse can create the illusion that Obama is more “white” than “black” – more in touch with “white culture” than “black culture” and this illusion should make white folks more comfortable with Obama.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-10 00:22:33

I think that interpretation is a stretch. Mostly, it was an embarassing gaffe. His son is a major Obama player. That alone tells me it’s a gaffe. Moreover, the remark makes it clear that Obama is trying to pander to whites by preaching to blacks on morality. That’s honesty that hurts Obama alot. Jesse Jackson gave words to what many of us are thinking, and many AA voters are undoubtedly thinking the same way.

This wasn’t anything good for Obama, and to come on the same day as FISA? A bad hair day in the Obama camp.

Comment by Pink Panthers | 2008-07-10 00:42:37

My conservative Republican father-in-law, who never complimented Jesse Jackson, actually said something nice about him tonight because Jackson criticized Obama.

I truly don’t think the Dems understand how much people dislike Obama. And, it’s not because he is blacks; it’s because he has no values and stands for zilch.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-10 01:12:12

A lot of them will donate to him, but they are obviously unenthusiastic.

For the most part, though, Obama is everywhere. He is saturating media content. Voters still don’t trust him and especially when they hear of the identity politics exploited in the primaries. I think this helped Obama and Jesse Jackson. It was a distraction from FISA and various other progressive sell-outs. Why wait till the day of the vote to push this story? It happened early in the week, I think Monday.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-07-10 01:54:11

Sorry, I think Jesse Jackson meant exactly what he said and it was not a put-up job by the BO camp. However, I agree that BO is trying to ingratiate himself with white people by lecturing black people on their supposed shortcomings. BO feels that AA’s will continue to come out in droves and vote for him no matter how much he demeans them. In all honesty, he’s the same way with the ‘progressives’ – slaps them around but expects them to show up and vote for him no matter how much he lies to them. We’ll see if they do.

Comment by tampagurl | 2008-07-10 02:13:49

I agree,I think Jesse meant what he said. When he said I’d like to cut off his nuts, he made a face and a hand gesture demonstrating how he would do it LOL. Where are the AA’s and progressives going to go? He has them in the bag now that Hillary is out of the picture. Our only hope is that there is enough middle class whites that won’t buy his bullshit.

NEW YORK (AP) — TV One, the cable network aimed at African-American viewers, will cover Barack Obama’s nominating convention but is ignoring John McCain’s.
TV One will provide coverage of Barack Obama’s nominating convention August 25-28.

TV One will provide coverage of Barack Obama’s nominating convention August 25-28.

The network is telecasting live, prime-time coverage of the Democratic convention in Denver August 25-28, followed by “TV One Live: DNC Afterparty,” with political and social commentary from panelists.

TV One is available in 43.7 million households, or about 40 percent of the nation’s TV homes.

Obama’s nomination as the first black to be a major party presidential nominee is an historic event for African-Americans, so it’s important for the network to be there, said Johnathan Rodgers, the network’s president and CEO.

“While viewers can get coverage of the convention from any number of networks, we plan to cover the convention from a uniquely African American perspective,” he said.

The network has no plans to cover the Republican convention.

“We are not a news organization,” Rodgers said. “We are a television network that is designed to celebrate African-American achievement. That is why we are covering this convention. If Hillary (Clinton) was the nominee, we would not be covering this year’s Democratic convention.”

I have a question; which I did ask a week ago.

The weekend of the 28th it was reported that Bill Clinton said that “Obama could kiss his A**”

On Monday, June 30th Obama said Bill Clinton and him talked by phone and Bill was going to campaign with him.

I have yet to hear anything in any type of media that is a direct quote from Bill. I was wondering if anyone has read or heard anything about Bill saying he coming out to campaign for Obama. Hey I would love to see Bill Clinton as a Holdout.

Yea I know that it will most likely happen—but just curious why it is taking so long….

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-10 00:45:12

Most people think it will take Bill to fix this mess. Without him, Obama will never be viewed as legitimate.

*blech*

I’m hoping the rumor about Hillary being on the list for VP is wrong. I’m hoping Bill stays in Europe and tells Obama to fuck himself.

Comment by candymarl | 2008-07-10 01:59:12

Big Dawg can’t be forced to campaign for anyone. For goodness sake, his wife was referred to as a b*tch and a wh*re. His wife was accused of pimping out his daughter. That would make Hillary a madam and Chelsea a…well you know what.

What father would forgive that easily?

Bill has been eerily silent. Al Gore has too except for one appearance. Wes Clark is now sending emails to support down ticket Dems. Now Rev J. is being forced to grovel and is being disrespected by his own son.

I said Obama was an equal opportunity destroyer. Black, White, Latino, Jewish, Native American, Asian, Muslim etc. Democrat or Republican – it doesn’t matter.

This is the change, hope, and unity we’ve been waiting for?

Obama is a one man wrecking crew.

1)FOX wants Obambi on FOX and is waiting to sandbag him with the balance of the tape ( my first wish, lol )

2) FOX is selling the balance of the tape to the highest 527 bidder.

Time is running out, somebody else that was in the studio WILL release at least a transcript or paraphrase of the balance of the tape. So please FOX give us the rest of the tape(sooner than later), we are adults, we can take it.

Me thinks the balance of the tape has something in it that will CRUSH Obambi. ;)

Mr. Judgment Strikes Again!

There are all sorts of judgment tests out there, but none is more basic than this: How good is he at protecting his kids? Up until yesterday evening, the Obamas’ kids were legitimately off limits, but by putting them on national television – especially on a sleazeball paparazzi show like Access Hollywood – Obama’s lack of good judgment has made the girls legitimate targets of media coverage – at least in the eyes of sleazeball paparazzi.

Besides, how many times does Obama expect us to fall for this ruse?

Comment by Dave_Not_for_Obama | 2008-07-10 01:04:21

Oh but he has FLIP FLOPPED on that too, lol. Obambi now says that was a mistake and it will never happen again. It was his daughters birthday and she wanted to be on TV, Obambi PANDERED to her and said ok, lol.

Yep, I can just see Obambi standing up to foreign leaders on their respective birthdays, lol. What a frigg’in nightmare he is.

BTW, Obama looks like his maternal grandfather with a Negroid nose and a tan. Look at their pictures side by side and you’ll see the resemblence.

Comment by jawbone | 2008-07-10 07:18:11

Even Richard Wolffe gently, but clearly, criticized Obama for putting the girls out there. He said print journalists will be OK, but photogs and cable TV will now consider that the boundaries have been moved and they will move in.

But, as mentioned above, my first thought was that Obama felt he had more to gain for his campaign than the girls had to lose, and he used them. Now, he will say they’re to have their privacy respected and go after the press, but, hey, guy, too late.

“Breaking! DNC Deadline of this FRIDAY re Debt

Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 01:54:38 AM EDT
Someone just confirmed that there is a DNC deadline of this Friday for wiping
out Hillary’s campaign debt you guys.
If we don’t get this taken care of by then they’ll use this to pressure Hillary
re keeping her name off the ballot in Denver. That means no real Roll Call
vote!

NO WONDER BHO’s donors dragged their feet in helping to wipe out this debt.
DAMMIT all they had to do is sit on their hands and the DNC would finish this
off by ending all hope of an open and honest vote in Denver. It’s just like the
revote in Michigan.

So here’s the deal – we need to GIVE UNTIL IT HURTS on Thursday and Friday.
Take care of the last of that debt and tell Howard, Nancy and Donna (ESPECIALLY
Donna!) go get stuffed.”

Comment by wowzers | 2008-07-10 02:06:35

How much is her debt? I read she loaned herself 11 million and that part doesn’t have to be paid back.

How’d we do on July 4?

Comment by wodiej | 2008-07-10 03:56:07

I am not sure how much she owed aside from the $11 million of her own money but I hear the rest of the debt is down to $6 million. So I think we wiped out a chunk. We could easily finish this off.

I thought she had until the Convention or end of the convention, at which time either she’s the nominee (hope, hope!) or her primary campaign is well and truly over.

I thought these were FEC rules, not DNC rules.

Comment by Bella | 2008-07-10 07:58:44

She has until the convention to pay off her loan. Whatever part of her loan is not paid back, then it converts into a donation to her campaign. I don’t know the numbers, but it’s possible that is already paid back.

She also has the option to transfer her general election donations to her senate campaign. That is, if the donors agree to it. She can then use her senate donations to pay off her primary debt.

Comment by Bella | 2008-07-10 08:00:07

I should add, she has over $25 million in general election funds, more than enough to pay off her debt.

Comment by Bella | 2008-07-10 07:48:22

What a bunch of bull. Since when does the DNC make up the federal election rules? She has until she officially ENDS her campaign to pay off her debt. That is why she suspended it and didn’t end it.

Blogtalk: Obama’s F.I.S.A. Vote

senator’s own campaign Web site had become a focal point for his supporters to express their displeasure with Mr. Obama’s stance on the bill.

That was the case again today. Carl from Ft. Worth, Texas, posted a message on Mr. Obama’s Web site this afternoon. The subject line read: “Obama just lost my vote.” He continued:

“I am disgusted. Obama will NOT receive my vote in November, regardless of whether it means McCain wins (at least HE’S being honest with us). Once at least on this issue.”again, Dems picked the wrong guy in the primaries. Time to leave the party I guess.”

Blogging on Open Left, Matt Stoller wrote: “It’s interesting to consider how Clinton would have voted were she the nominee, and there’s no way to know now.” But, he added, “kudos to Clinton. It’s ironic so far I suppose that Clinton is of late a more reliable ally than Obama,

Other comments struck much the same theme. Patrick in Chicago wrote “Can I get my money back this candidate appears to be defective” and Christopher from San Francisco put it simply “Senator Obama, you fail.”

Ouch.

Armando Llorens, who blogs under the name Big Tent Democrat, at TalkLeft.com took issue with the comments Mr. Obama made yesterday saying that his support for the bill was not politically motivated, but rather represents a genuine policy disagreement with more liberal elements of the Democratic Party:

“I do not believe Barack Obama. I will go further. I do not want to believe him. Because the alternative is worse. Because if Obama believes the BS he said about the FISA Capitulation bill, then he is not fit to be President. If Barack Obama really believes this about the FISA Capitulation bill, then he is as dangerous as George W. Bush

Moe Lane at the conservative blog, Red State, appeared to relish Mr. Obama’s stand on the F.I.S.A. bill: “…the netroots went with the equivocator. Barack Obama brazenly lied to them about his intent to filibuster FISA, and they support him anyway. And now they have to go give him some more money, so that he can lie to them some more.”

Comment by candymarl | 2008-07-10 02:17:34

Now Obama disagrees with the more liberal elements of the Democratic Party.

You mean the same elements that gave money, canvassed, recruited voters, and voted for him?

The elements whose website owners and posters vilified
all who dared disagree?

The real liberal voted against FISA. The fake liberal voted for it.

We told you so.

Ahhh…laughter is the best medicine. I don’t care if this is a minor distraction. This blog topic has been a hoot. Thanks to everyone for the laughs on BO.

Obama’s gynormous flip flop on FISA…promising fillibuster and then voting for it “without batting an eye” just proves what I have believed about him all along: He is an empty suit opportunist who will do ANYTHING to get elected. I understand that all politicians have to engage in a certain amount of political pandering, but trashing the Constitution and stripping us of privacy to get elected is not OK.

Jesse helped make certain there was a seat for everyone on the bus. Let’s not limit the accomplishment to one group of Americans.

The man also helped get enough Americans registered to vote that GHWB didn’t have the embarrassment of having his win vs. Dukakis be determined solely by means of the electoral college.

Operation PUSH gave us enough votes that a working quorum was considered. Enough registered voters participated, thanks to Jesse Jackson’s efforts, that GHWB was spared the ignominy of having unusual measures taken to see his election.

Of course, his eventual record low approval ratings were well earned, and surpassed only by his own son. Whose own electoral and selectoral shenanigans also surpassed any threshold for decency that was met by his father’s win, in the prior contest that Jackson’s participation helped legitimize.

GHWB owes Jesse Jackson for that reason. Odd that, no?

This was supposed to be off the record.

Where’s my brain bleach?
Bill Oh,Really?
Dolla Bill mentioned a Talking Points Memo?

My fainting couch and alcohol I.V. are not helping.

This is like news Dahleks showing up at the Convention.

Though, a secret service reference to Jesse is a bit out of line. He had actual reasons to fear for the security of his person at times prior.

It’s my opinion that this is a move not unlike Rev.Wright’s offering to distance self for expediency’s sake. Jesse’s too smart to have done this otherwise, he knows how to use presentation and he knows the camera is always on when he’s in front of it.

In the past I voted for Jesse during a Primary because his voice was seeing that more issues be addressed. At the time I didn’t agree with everything he had to say, but thought he was right on enough items I agreed with to deserve endorsement of his overlying message. To my regret, I voted GOP in that General Election.

Comment by karen for Clinton | 2008-07-10 05:33:43

I supported Jesse too. I was relieved though when he finally bit the dust with his “hymietown” remarks because much of the time nobody actually KNEW what the hell Jesse was saying without a transcript. I often would nod my head and act like I agreed with whatever he had just said!!!

I really do think most of the time these days that the ob campaign is doing everything they can to lose voters. They have shot themselves in the foot in such bold new ways it MUST be on purpose.

There was much speculation all along how the DNC was handing this election to McCain on purpose and their purpose was to get OB’s database.

They do not want to win the presidency, they want to win Mayoral and congressional races.

Explains why they went with this nutless wonder.

Jackson is on his way to 400+ comments. Perhaps Jackson had asked Obama for the VP position Dukakis never gave him and Obama turned him down as well.

With all of the hoopla of Obama being black, imagine the euphoria of an all black ticket. Go ahead and throw another unqualified individual like Jackson on the ticket so we can accelerate the demise of the country and get to the level of Zimbabwe as soon as possible.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-07-10 04:54:34

Jackson said this on Sunday morning so why did FOX wait until today to show it? And why did they not show the so-called more damaging portion? Were they negotiating with Jackson?

FOX needs to come forward with the entire tape. My guess is Jackson was making disparaging comments about whites and Jackson did not want that aired. Obama, his wife, and many of his supporters have been knocking whites and they can’t afford another negative comment toward whites or that support could dry up causing Obama to lose the election.

Comment by Bella | 2008-07-10 07:43:22

I’m wondering too. Interesting they air it on the day of the FISA vote. Hopefully Fox News hasn’t been sipping the Kool-Aide.

Oh me oh my. Can we watch? I want to see that!

The “blackie tape” was inevitable. We all knew it would happen sooner or later (powerful black leaders outting the sham man) but this is spectacular.

Even though I’ve been called a racist a dozen times this past year, I only mentioned to one friend just one time, how I supported Jesse until he said “hymie town.” As a New Yorker who was married to a Jew at the time I couldn’t let that slide and dumped Jesse.

Hey Jesse, ob’s balls are too big anyway. Ha ha.

At least Hillary was said to have testicular fortitude and Carville said he only has one ball!

How many times did we warn everybody ob was setting back civil rights and was stirring up trouble?

btw – the ACLU sent me an email this morning with the title “They failed freedom. We’re suing.”

I sent them back this:

“Don’t blame me, I voted for Hillary. PUMA”

Comment by karen for Clinton | 2008-07-10 05:23:26

Those were not the balls I knew.

And I thought the Crap Cannon was funny?!

Barkie’s ball-gate is the best. Can’t wait for the political cartoonists to string them up and display them.

I want to know if they are so tiny they can’t be found without a microscope or so big they barely fit into his superhero underoos.

He flip-flopped and tripped on his own cajones!

Comment by janetmc | 2008-07-10 07:05:39

I think that Jesse Jackson’s comment was a set up so that Barack can appeal to more whites. I also think the Jeremiah Wright road trip was a set up. If his ego was so big, where is he now? All the pundits on CNN were talking about how post racial Obama is now. Jesse and Wright are willing to look ridiculous if it helps Obama win. Then he will give their churches money through his faith based initiatives. Every thing that happens in this campaign is stage managed.

[...] Was this ‘really’ a threat? I’m sure by now you’ve heard what Jackson said about Obama’s …….. let’s just say “private parts” because I really don’t even LIKE the word that Jackson used. Here’s the actual comment and a link for video if you so desire to watch (this was during a FOX interview.) NOTICE that when Jackson actually makes a hand gesture when making this remark. Oh then a few hours later an apology comes. Now from what I’ve been told is that a man like Jackson that has been on many interviews would KNOW about an open/hot mic. Did he say this on purpose some are asking? Are you kidding me? He actually MADE A THREAT against the great unknown. Oh but then apologized. Some also say he (Jackson) might be in trouble with the secret service; you can read that very interesting article here. [...]

Slightly off topic but once again showing how self-centred Obama is…

After wrapping up his speech to donors Wednesday evening with an emphatic, “We will change the world!”, Obama left the stage to loud music, only to re-appear minutes later to complete his duties.

“Hold on a second guys, I was getting all carried away. I’ve got one more thing that is important to do,” Obama said to a laughing audience. “Senator Clinton still has some debt. And I could have had some debt if I hadn’t won so I know the drill.”

Poor Barack… he gets so carried away with telling people he’s going to change the world by bringing hope and change, he forgets most everything else!

I concluded long ago that nothing happens by accident when it comes to the Obama campaign. The man strongarms people to put themselves under the bus for the Greater Good of Obama. That includes the Wes Clark incident. He gets others to carry out his own evil plots. Everything about Obama is an Axelrod Media Production.

Hillary will have problems paying off her debt, first she is walking around the place with this fool endorsing him and people will not support that.

Why support a man that at a fund raiser for helping her to pay off her debt he forgets to ask people to, that just shows he could not give a shit about her problems, he is only interested in making people believe that she supports him as the best person for the WH.

Time for Hillary to cut Obama lose, make he own way she does not need that loser.

it wouldn’t surprise me if jesse feels that way. many people do. people make such a big deal for this unknown poser, saying he’s the first viable black candidate to run for president. i really never thought that was fair to jesse. he won like 10 states in the primary in 1988. i mean he almost won TEXAS! he got over 6 million votes (which was double of what Al Gore got) and over 1200 delegates. sounds like a viable candidate to me. he was also quick to say that he didn’t think Bill Clinton’s remarks about south carolina were racist remarks. people talk about what a great speaker obama is and about his great speeches. uhh uhh ummm…i can’t remember any of his speeches, and fell asleep during his race lecture. i think jessa has given much more moving speeches than the poser.

i’m not a supporter of jesse’s, but i don’t dislike him either. he’s done a lot for people…just ask judge greg mathis.

I don’t think it should be classified as a death threat -the DNC and congress have proved men don’t need nutz to live… they don’t even need a spine.

That was funny as hell…because it had a real ring of TRUTH to it.

I don’t think Jesse “misspoke” any more than I think Wes Clark did. I can’t wait to see who else will speak a truth and then (cough) “apologize” for it.

Jesse Jackson’s wife is a staunch supporter of HIllary and so is his youngest son Yusef DuBois.

JESSE Jackson Jr., though, is a Misogynist who compared the Obama campaign (he was Co-chair in Iowa/N.H.) to the O.J. situation. He made anti-Clinton sexist remarks that never got the attention they deserved for THREATENING HILLARY WITH THE O.J. KILLING of a white woman. Jesse Jackson Jr. had said “It’s the O.J. natural thing, you know…knocking down the White Woman (Hillary)”

Did Jesse Jr. APOLOGIZE TO HILLARY IN N.H. WHEN HE WAS CO-CHAIR?

It’s about time JESSE JACKSON JR. APOLOGIZE TO CLINTON FOR HIS THREATENING COMMENT RE O.J. /OBAMA/HILLARY KILLING ANALOGY. Hell, Hillary got the guilotine for her chronological reference to Bobby’s death in June!
