Rove: Obama is the Democrats’ Nixon
By SusanUnPC on July 10, 2008 at 1:00 PM in Barack Obama, Campaigns & Campaign Financing, Death Penalty, Economy, Electability, FISA, NAFTA
“Instead of consistency, Mr. Obama has followed Richard Nixon’s advice, to cater to his party’s extreme in the primaries and then move aggressively to the middle for the fall.
“In the primary, Mr. Obama:
- supported pulling out of Iraq within 16 months,
- called the D.C. gun ban constitutional,
- backed the subjection of telecom companies to expensive lawsuits for cooperating in the terror surveillance program,
- opposed welfare reform,
- pledged to renegotiate Nafta,
- disavowed free trade and
- was strongly against the death penalty in all cases.
“But in the past few weeks, Mr. Obama has reversed course on all of these, discarding fringe liberal views for relentlessly centrist positions. He also flip-flopped on accepting public financing and condemning negative ads from third party groups, like unions.
“By taking Nixon’s advice, Mr. Obama is assuming such dramatic reversals will somehow avoid voter scrutiny. But people are watching closely, and by setting a world indoor record for jettisoning past positions, Mr. Obama may be risking his reputation for truthfulness. A candidate’s credibility, once lost, is very hard to restore, regardless of how fine an organization he has built.”
The above excerpt is from today’s Wall Street Journal.
The bullet points were added to emphasize the number of 180-degree reversals.
Moving towards the center is one thing. Displaying no adherence to principles is another.
As Medusa notes, this is very unsettling to Obama’s most passionate supporters, many of whom are protesting on his own Web site.
Speaking of Obama’s campaign Web site:
Change & Experience blog linked to a story here the other day, and displayed an astonishing trend graph that shows that Obama’s popularity indeed is on the wane:
NoQuarter is reporting that Daily Kos and Barack Obama’s base is fracturing. He couldn’t be more right. Right now BarackObama.com is tanking in website hits. He is currently at pre-Iowa caucus levels (currently at around Jan. 2nd). John McCain’s site and Bob Barr’s site have remain constant. Barack Obama’s polling numbers have remained unchanged since May 18th. For a “popular” presumptive candidate, you would think you would see his numbers increasing.

Yes! Let’s let Karl Rove define our party’s candidate!
You’re quite the Democrat, Alegre.
Somebody has to your candidate keeps flipping…who knows what he stands for.
You’re right, he has done some flipping, and if I were a Republican, with Republican political and policy priorities, and I really wanted Republicans to continue in power, I would certainly attempt to define Obama that way. I’m just pointing out, for the billionth time, that NQ has become, truly, a Republican website. And you should all be ashamed of yourselves for that. You are enemies of American freedom and democracy because you support a party that has become truly fascist.
Since you’ve stated you’ve made your “point” for the billionth time, I guess it’s time for you to leave.
I know you koolaid drinkers don’t want to hear opposing viewpoints; you prefer just sitting around trying to out-do each other with posts saying how much you hate Obama and how you’ll never vote for him. Ever. EVER! Too bad. Until you start banning IP addresses from sane people, you will continue to hear a few opposing voices.
We read your shit don’t we? We comment back to you don’t we? You’re still here, right? Eat me.
But he said he’s made his point for the “billionth time” which means that he’s made AT LEAST a billion posts….can’t we get him to leave, please!
I second that motion, all in favor of letting the troll go away, say aye.
Motion carries, we have now all seen you say this is a republican website and are free to experience life on a democratic(Obama) website. Good luck and farewell.
If ya get some new material feel free to come try it out on us, we love humor.
Troll droppings:”I’m just pointing out, for the billionth time, that NQ has become, truly, a Republican website”.”
sfhillary “
okay, bye then. sf
Great piece!
Susan knocked the ball out of the park.
The guy is worse than a case of Herpes, you never get rid of him and he always pops up at the worst time.
Karl Rove is responsible for running Obama against Clinton in the first place. He can cover up with all his political commentary, but does anyone really believe he would sit the Democratic primary out this year with Clinton running?
http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Winter08/2008Election.html
That article says nothing about Karl Rove being responsible for Obama’s candidacy. It just points out that Obama enlisted Republicans very early in the primaries, because he needed to fight dirty to knock out Clinton. It was tough, though; thats why the primaries went on so long. What you had was a perfect storm, but it may have worked out for the best. Clinton, like Reagan, will be a stronger candidate if she runs in 2012. Obama will lose. McCain will serve one term. That’s how it looks now.
ROTFLOL!
I do not quite understanding how you expect anyone to believe the crap that you are dishing out. Republican site? Yeah that’s why Hillary’s face is plastered for all to see. Kool-aid drinkers…come on…we ALL know who that refers to and it sure isn’t us. I myself have voted Dem about 90% of the time and am an independent.
You are right about one thing though…NOBAMA..Ever. Ever!
PUMA founder Darragh Murphy donated $500 to the John McCain camp in 2004. She donated nothing to any other party. In 2008 she sets up PUMA to encourage Clinton supporters to vote McWar. How Republican is that?
Kerry considered McCain for vp in 04.
How Republican is that?
You fear us, therefore, you are here. In other posts you laugh at our small and ineffective community, but you think we are worthy of hours and hours of your attention.
You want to colonize our site because you do not want anyone to say anything that runs against your doctrine. This is not the MyDD. Your attempt to colonize this site will fail. To paraphrase Gandhi: first, they ignore us; then, they insult us; then , they attack us; then, we win.
The best thing about Clinton as a candidate was she attracted genuine support from many Republicans and especially women. This was not ephemeral support based on the feeling of the moment. There were many Republicans who had hated the Clintons when Bill was in office but came to respect Hillary for being a “fighter” and finding her voice as the primaries went on. Clinton and McCain are in different parties, but they’re close in the political spectrum. They both have integrity and a commitment to public service.
Mummy,
Republican…Boo!
LOL
John McCain wasn’t running in 2004.
hey stupid ive been a democrat for 36 years ,with gas at 4.09 a gallon here is what i as a small business ower has to say DRILL NOW ,DRILL DEEP,DRILL OFFSHORE AND DRILL ANWAR RIGHT NOW.THAT IS UNLES PRECIOUS IS GOING TO BUY ME A NEW WORK TRUCK THAT I CANT AFFORD RIGHT NOW.also he is a crook and if you say he isnt then tell me why he sponsored the bill in ILL that changed the hospital facilities board from 15 to 9 thus enabling rezko to control the boards vote.please in your wisdom sfhillary explain that one.
I agree about the drilling…they can build a refinery in our county while they are at it.
With residential discounts of course.
Dear sfhillary,
You broke your word and returned to this site. You said you would not return until November 5th. You said we only insult and fabricate lies against Obama. You show up and insult us by saying we’re fascists and resume your brownshirt tactic of flooding our posts because you reject the principles that ground the freedom of association.
I am justifiably angered by your lack of moral and intellectual integrity. You think you have something that people must hear. You think your masters degree gives you the chops to come here and talk down to the citizens of this site.
I challenge you to debate on blog radio. It is easy to arrange. I am a lefty. I’m ready to uphold the progressive banner. Let’s select a topic and agree to debate one week later.
You support Obama. You do not like our assessment of Obama’s positions, This sets the parameters of our possible topics.
I suggest we debate about his position on FISA (Is this compromise bad for America?), or on feeling blue and late term abortions (If his new position became law, would it mark a reversal of abortion rights?), or on campaign finance reform in word and in practise (Is Obama morally right to reject public financing?) or, on a different note, Did Obama supporters use Republican talking points to attack Hillary and Bill Clinton during the Democratic primary? (On this latter question, I shall differ my participation to a more learned respondent. You may do the same.)
You’re here because you do not like our positions on your candidate. You think you have the intellectual and moral high ground. I disagree. As Bill said, let’s have an argument.
Yours,
Steven
oops. defer, not differ
Bravo! I have a feeling sfhillary is as afraid of debates as her candidate is, but I’d love to catch your broadcast if it happens. I enjoy a high noon showdown. Ha ha.
Don’t you have a black liberatin theology class you need to go to?
and simply put
YOU are FULL of BarakOshit!
Ah, Dawnelle, I can always count on your for the content-free, ugly/nasty insult post.
r u “believe” or did your shift change
r u trapped in this place? or do you have some kind of personality disorder?
wait don’t answer that (how would you know) lmao!
yep count on me Ya FkTrons!
At least you can count on Dawnelle, you certainly can’t count on your slected candidate..he flip flops, no wonder you’re here for some security.
(hat tip) danke Madam or Sir
i have no problem with the insults, it comes with the territory. I’m a Democrat with Democratic principles, so i am very much a minority on this site. Nonetheless, it’s an energetic and entertaining online community, and the issues matter to me a lot, so I’ll keep on arguing.
What? democratic “principles” didn’t those get thrown under the bus on May 31st. Yes, I’m sure that’s the date. sf, I’ve been voting democratic longer than you’ve been alive…go away.
What democratic principles are aligned with stealing an election by giving votes to someone not even on the ballot? more like banana republic principles - but, this is America and on this site, unlike your boys’ site, you are free to speak your mind. we still believe in the first amendment…all of the amendments - even the 4th - more than we can say for barry.
That is what I was thinking. He sounds like believe and the smurff troll. The material is so old and outdated, non operational. Obama voted for telecom immunity for companies breaking the law . What is next?
I like this quote from an/the AG “Any citizen of this United States who is not involved in some illegal activity,” he added, “has nothing to fear whatsoever.”
Does that include coping my friends cd’s or watching/listening to someones website that has a bootleg movie/song. Bet they do not rewrite a law to give music downloaders immunity.
You should be ashamed for condoning and supporting the Democratic Party at this point. Look up what Fascism is and you will understand. Some of us have fought Fascism to get Democracies in other countries and we recognize the signs.
Nothing would endanger our Democratic Republic more than electing Barack Obama with a Dem majority Congress and Senate. No checks and balances after what we have witnessed this year?
Whatever Dems stood for - the Party no longer does. Wake the hell up!
This is not at all about Rep versus Dem any longer.
Shame on all of you for being so ignorant and following a Party blindly. You have access to Google and can research the truth. If you cared.
Following a party blindly is a hallmark of totalitarian regimes I prefer not to emulate.
This post, right here, illustrates the heart of the PUMA delusion. It should be printed up and put on laminated cards to be distributed to anyone who needs to understand what it means to be a PUMA. Your argument is that the competitive Democratic primary and the controversies over the rogue Florida and Michigan primaries constitute a more fearsome assault on freedom and democracy than the prospect of a McCain administration which openly advocates and promises to extend the past eight years of Republican genocidal war-making, Constitution-shredding domestic spy programs, international torture prisons that abrogate the Geneva Conventions, abandonment of habeas corpus, deliberate muzzling of the EPA and other governmental agencies, gutting of FEMA, and so on down the line.
Anyone who really, honestly believes this is beyond help.
We will not condone the corruption of the DNC. We are fighting to restore principles in the Democratic Party.
Obama is an empty suit, and is more dangerous to this country than McCain is.
sfhillary’s post explains EXACTLY what a dire situation the very existence of our Constitution and and civil liberties are in. If the people fail to see that there was ANYTHING wrong with the DNC arbitrarily ruling that Florida and Michigan’s votes would not count and the delegates would not be seated. Then you are seriously stupid. If you fail to question why 3 other states did the same thing (Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina) and were not “punished” by the DNC, then you are seriously stupid. If you fail to realize that DNC has NO BUSINESS imposing such rules on the VOTERS in these states - who had NO influence whatsoever in the decisions their states made, then you are seriously stupid.
If we do not hold this party accountable for these horrendous lapses in judgement and adhering to the democratic principles, then who will? The DNC knows they f**ked up - or else they would have never made the pathetic half assed attempt to “appease” the people who did speak up and demand that Florida and Michigan be given their FULL delegates to EVERY candidate on the ballots.
It is our obligation to hold ALL of our elected officials accountable for what they do. BO doesn’t like being held accountable, he hates all this back pedaling he has to do. BO is for sale to the highest bidder!
WAKE UP FOLKS! No??? Oh, then you must be seriously stupid.
Jeez, are you ever an arrogant, sanctimonious, condescending know-it-all.
No surprise, then, that you follow The Chosen One with unfettered blind devotion. You are two peas in a pod.
I truly fail to see what is “Republican” about telling the truth about Senator Obama.
These are facts. He has reneged on his policy positions. He threw the 4th amendment under the bus yesterday re FISA. He is now for faith based initiatives. He has altered his position on Iraq. He is waffling on pro-choices issues. There is plenty more.
We are angry because HE is acting like te Republican.
We want Hillary — the true Democrat.
Can you really blame us.
Her policies have remained steadfast and are correct. She didn’t need to b.s. part of the lefty base in order to get votes — only to throw everyone under the bus once the cowardly super delegates “selected” him.
Um, why does telling the truth about Obama make us “Republicans” again?
If being a “Democrat” means ignoring Obama’s failings and pretending he is a vastly superior candidate despite the evidence right in front of our eyes, then I guess I’m not a “Democrat” anymore.
I’d hate to think that being able to judge a candidate based on his words and deeds without giving him an automatic pass because he has a “D” after his name makes me a Republican, though.
“You are enemies of American freedom and democracy because you support a party that has become truly fascist.
How did your boy vote on FISA?
Hello kettle your black.
And I must be a racist.
The dems stole this Democrat’s vote!
not the Republicans.
I thought I would NEVER see the day
that I’d vote Republican.
never say never, I guess.
So let’s see if I have this right. Opposition to Obama is exactly the same as republican in your book? WTF?
Is he really a democrat? Really? He quells free speech, votes against the will of the voters and even against his own previous stances. He has been acting as if he is already the president since late April! Come on this guy is a snot nosed brat who wants to play at being commander and chief! We don’t have time for playing around when it comes to healthcare, foriegn policy, rights to privacy you name it this guy has flip-flopped on it already or will because he thinks pandering gets one elected.
The voters say different.
http://caffinequeen.wordpress.com/
you’re-a-Republican! is the new you’re-a-racist!
Sad.
Well said. They are here in force because they are scared.
your clueless, hate and/or defiance against the empty suit unqualfied dangerous Obama does not necessarily make for a “republican website”.
this is obviously a talking point that was handed out to you bots to spread around since you couldn’t come up with anything better to debate with.
how sad for you, really.
Why don’t you LEAVE, then, if you believe this is a GOP website? Why do you stay and torture yourself? Or are you a nanny, a scold, or even worse, a troll?
Or, most likely, you’re just a fucking idiot under the misguided apprehension that anyone gives a crap what you think, and how you “feeeel?”
Go out and live your fucking principles if they mean so much to you. Tell your beloved candidate how disappointing he is and how he’s abandoned them, while you’re at it. But stop calling people who think Obama sucks Republicans, because we aren’t. We’re disgusted Democrats who don’t think a so-called Democrat acting like a craven, greedy Republican is a “better” choice.
Far better to elect a Republican who can be checked by a Democratic Congress…providing THEY don’t fuck up like the “presumptive nominee” seems to be doing.
Fuck all those Koolaid drinkers who are now whining. We told them so, and now they’re gonna have to live with their shitty, halfassed choice.
There’s always ‘12.
SF,
If the Republicans are facists then why are you supporting Obama?
He is embracing all of their worst policies….you know those ‘enemies of American freedom and democracy’.
What rights are left that Obama hasn’t trampled on?
LOL
Now run along….you know you won’t answer.
NOBAMA NUTS EVER!!
You obamabots think and justify Obama like Donald Rumsfeld:
takes one to know one - rove seems the most likely to understand obama.
ooo excellent point
Indeed. The WSJ article is definitely worth a read.
You have to admit here however, Rove has a very very valid point. Flip flopping hurts any politician - and it will always come back to bite you. Look what happened to Kerry, fairly or not, his image of a “flip flopper” is what did him in.
First of all, nobody has flip-flopped more in this season than your boy McCain, who is now on the record opposing at least a couple bills that he himself sponsored. There is scarcely a major issue that McCain hasn’t shifted ground on in the past few years. Second of all, there is no more skillful “triangulator” in modern U.S. political history than our hero Bill Clinton, who drew the same flak from the left when he ran in 1992 that Obama is drawing now. They made their move to the center for the same reason and in all likelihood the move will have the same result: a victory for a moderate Democratic presidential candidate, and eight years of responsible national governance, for a change of pace.
Here we go again…Let me ’splain things to you Bunky, and I’ll use small words. MCCAIN IS NOT OUR DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE! He is SUPPOSED to have differing viewpoints, that is why we call him the opposition. Barky is supposed to represent liberal democratic views, you know, no death penalty, Fisa, Iraq, energy policy etc. Barky has lurched to the right and now you’re telling us to trust the little fart because once he gets into office he’ll do the right thing? Uh no, I don’t think so. The last time I trusted a guy to do the right thing after he got in, I had drop out of med school.
you called him a boy - are you a racist?
Ahhh…the “two wrongs” argument!!!
How….COMPELLING!!! Quick, let’s all just put our reservations aside, because Obama is…just as BAD as a more experienced REPUBLICAN!!!
Billy pulled my HAIR!!!
But BOBBY PUSHED ME!!!!!!
Waaaah, waaaah.
Grow the fuck up. This is politics, not a nursery school.
Barry put himself up on a very high pedestal–Mr. New Politics, Mr. Hope and Change, Mr. Anti-Triangulation, Mr. I Am SOOOO Principled. He gets held to a different, higher standard because he invited it. His entire campaign was predicated on the claim that his superior judgment on the war made him a superior candidate. It now turns out that the only way to keep that fairy tale on life support is by playing a shell game–look over here at all of John McCain’s faiiings. Barry may have fallen off his self-styled pedestal, but he still looks great in comparison to the old guy.
But I have to wonder how long Obama’s superior, elitist, pampered ass would have lasted in the Hanoi Hilton. Now THAT would be an interesting comparison.
He would have found a bus.
Except Rove is not calling Obama a flip flopper. He is calling him a shameless, paranoid, poll-obsessed liar who will say or do anything to win. Like Nixon.
The gloves just came off. We’re about to see how the Republicans will define Obama in the GE.
Most people think McCain’s a flip flopper, too (and he is).
McCain changes his mind when facts change.
Obama will say anything to anybody at anytime to get elected.
McCain stood by the surge strategy when it was unpopular.
“a flip flopper, too” believe acknowledges that Barack is changing his principles as the campaign moves along.
believe is that you?
r u tellin me Susan is Allegre?
believe and sfhillary are the same. even funnier is when they talk to one another and pretend they’re having a real conversation. add to that when believe complains about “faux believe,” and you can’t stop milking the lol-teats.
have mercy :-/
This is false. I have no other usernames; i have no time or interest in that game-playing horseshit. I was under the impression that Susan is in fact Alegre; if I’m wrong, I apologize. I honestly thought that was the case.
Looks like you have time to cr@# all over this blog….go away ————>
you are a mental case
that’s being NICE
you come HERE
posting lies and innuendo
bugging people insulting them calling them names
and when you are questioned about something “seemingly innocent” like a name cross you “APOLOGIZE” FOR IT????
What the hell kind of troll are you?
That was the BIGGEST fraud of all. YOUR APOLOGY???? roflmao!
how rich
I agree Dawnelle, sf is a fraud, hey! Maybe sf is really Barry Oblahma, hes a fraud too, hes a liar and a flip flopper! sf-Barry is that you?? Hey Barry, where’s your birth certificate? Barry, why did you vote for FISA before you were against it? Barry?
wait…Barry was against FISA before he voted for FISA which he says he’s actually against and will vote against it when he becomes POTUS.
You are very wrong, terribly wrong. I’ve known Susan for a long time now and she has always been Susan. I’ve read Alegre for a long time now too and Alegre and Susan have always been different people long before this presidential primary. They were even different people during the 2006 election cycle…..please apologize.
Nope. I know you folks love to make things up — tapes that don’t exist, fake gay sex, problems with birth certificates - and now we can add to the list your strange inability to distinguish bloggers.
you guys really need to get extra staff on…
send a memo to Baracktrack…..
a. hillary
b. mccain
america first!
Probably because you all sound just alike. It’s hard to distinguish where one of you begins and other leaves off.
they may all truly be different persons, but they all receive the identical email from the politburo with the today’s bullet points of lies, smears and innuendos to flood the blogs with.
You call yourself a “blogger”? Ha! All you do is try to bully people back to the Democratic party and repeat tired Obama campaign talking points.
Oy, do you really think we’re letting Rove decide anything? Christ. You are an ass. He got the only other completly unqualified candidate elected POTUS…twice. I’m guessing he has a little insight into getting barky elected.
Yes that’s exactly what the Obamabots here think, because they are so warped they simply cannot comprehend a legitimate reason for any Democrat to reject Obama. It’s just inconceivable to them. So, we must all be closet Republicans, or Racists, or something like that.
Pleeeze, David Axelrod makes Karl Rove look like John the Baptist.
With all the dishonesty, under-the-bus spin, lies, cheating, threatening, flip-flopping and manipulation from Backtrack himself, the puppet of Axelrod et al, Obama supporters have lost their rights to diss Karl Rove.
Susan, there’s another good post by Hanson today on NRO, entitled “Barack W. Bush”
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NWYwMWQzOTVhYTMyYTBjNmRlZWRmNjBmOGU4MzZlNTk=&w=MA==
Dems always lose because they don’t do oppo research. And don’t ya think it’s a little late in the game to trot out the Unity Pony and lecture us on being a good Dem?
Ummm…Karl is not defining B0, he’s ’splaining him to ya. And he’s in a good position to know as he was there at the birth - see?
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D02E5DC123DF932A15751C0A9659C8B63
“”The Republicans are in charge,” she said. ”I don’t want African-Americans to wait four years or eight years for the Democrats to get back in the game before we make progress.” ” much, much more…..
Wow. Brazile admits her complicity with Republicans. Explains the slash and burn politics that Obama uses against Hillary and her supporters.
It explains Obama’s certainty that he will be President. In fact, he’s behaving as if he’s already won. Much like GWB in 2000 and 2004.
Brazile, Obama, and Axelrod learned from the best - Rove.
WOW. Donna Brazile is a piece of shit.! I am beginning to hate the Democrats too. At least you expect republicans to not care and be corrupt/stupid/evil/closet gay/diaper wearing/asshats. These Dems are not the Dems I knew.
First, I am not Alegre. I am SusanUnPC.
Second: You are espousing the rigid views of the “authoritarian left” that finds the use of contrarian views to be a betrayal to their lockstep rules that censor free speech.
Rather than considering the views of ALL writers, you “authoritarian leftists” censor what a free people may be allowed to read or to quote from.
No one is harmed by reading what Karl Rove writes — particularly in a country founded on the essential importance of free speech.
It is the “authoritarian leftists” — like you — who have denigrated the Constitution and the ability of U.S. citizens to take in ALL viewpoints and consider or reject those viewpoints.
I find your rigid censorship far more frightening than anything Karl Rove has written in a newspaper.
Here! Here! Up until this primary season, I used to be believe that Bush Republicans were evil fascists. I’ve guess I’ve done a flip-flop, too, because I now believe that there are plenty of fascists to go around in both parties.
You have described the “progressives” of San Francisco. Even in the City by the Bay, I am detecting a strong undercurrent of backlash to progressive ideology that has been successful in stifling debate as labeling any contrary opinion as being politically incorrect or worse in this “tolerant city.”
Well, we’ve all gotten better this year at addressing this issue.
At first I was shy about stating my opinion. The progressives intimidated me.
But as the months wore on, I saw that my own political perspective was nothing to hide. I’m moderate on most issues. Occasionally….I dig in on liberal issues. FISA, for example. Crime and punishment is another. Immigration yet another.
So we’ve all come to AT LEAST know one another better.
The so-called progressives have an achille’s heel. They are rigid. I thought that surely was the case. They are the flip side of the religious right. Both groups share personality traits in common. Idealism produces immature political thinking. For evidence, see Michael Moore’s hideous endorsement of Obama, which was a snitfit against Hillary and darn near forgot to mention Obama at all.
Today, I’m a lot more relaxed about talking to my “progressive” son. (Yep…from SF. :)) And he has learned to respect my positions, too.
I do give him and others an out. Don’t want my opinion? Let’s talk about movies or anything but politics, then.
But I’m not pandering to that side anymore.
Heck, I read HuffPo. Those people are idiots for the most part. I’ve been amazed at the lack of basic knowledge and the emotionalism that reigns in the so-called progressive world.
As a woman? That type of emotionalism astounds me. Had I not outgrown that? I would truly have never been able to make it in corporate America or even think about holding my own in organizations.
But there you go. The new generation hasn’t yet held a job much beyond minimum wage. They have not yet had to discipline their thinking or their reactions.
My best friend is from Oak Ridge and very liberal. I find that ideology drives them more than issues. If I talk about immigration, and I’m fairly open about that… but I think laws should be enforced and maybe updated. She’s like, “Fuck the law. We should have open borders everywhere no exceptions.” I love her, but we’re so different.
Yes, she IS quite the Democrat…the truthful kind, who is able to analyze news from all sectors and make her own conclusions. She doesn’t suffer from Obama myopia, as most of his ‘followers’ do.
She seems to prefer viewing the candidates through a prism of intellectual and emotional honesty…something alien to Obama’s followers.
She’s able to see that Rove might, just might, have a tiny, tiny shred of astute political acumen.
Anyone who doesn’t like Obama is a Republican? How do you square that with the fact that Obama supports (and votes for) the Republican positions? Maybe we don’t like a Republican in Dem. clothing — which is exactly what Obama is. Nonetheless, you can call me a Republican, hell, you can call me a racist — I’m still not voting for Obama.
Sounds like you have values and integrity; unlike people who are supporting Obama.
Dude…..did you just copy and paste that comment? Alegre didn’t even write this piece you dumbsh*t. I can’t be nice about this….if you want to be an obamabot at least be an accurate one.
Your party’s candidate isn’t your party’s candidate yet.
Oh he will, just wait and see…McCain’s new campaign manager was promoted by Rove. Giddy up.
Yours is a typically childish liberal reaction. Karl Rove isn’t “defining” anything. Hes simply stating an obvious truth. Nixon’s strategy was always to run as far to the right as possible in the Republican primaries, then tack hard back towards the center for the general election. He was quite open when asked about it. This is precisely what Obama has done in 2007-2008, except he’s run as far to the left as possible in the primaries.
hey, if the shoe fits, wear it.
Obamanixon politics is on the rise. so is the stupidity of the obamabot who supports him.
Love That Chart! Thanks Susan.
Nobama!
Yes, a picture’s worth a thousand words Barry’s going down, down, down!
A person needn’t be from the same party to understand the utter despicable nature of Barack Obama. Obama is one of the most vile politicians that ever existed. Look at Nixon. He did the same thing. What did we get? Scandal!! Scandal!! Scandal!! The country nearly ripped apart because of Nixon. Do we need that again, especially now? Karl Rove knows exactly what he is talking about. Does Obama think people are stupid? Does he think that Americans are inferior? He must if he thinks we will fall for his tripe. Obama is a vicious liar who will do anything to get elected, including pimping out his daughters on a celebrity tabloid program. Voting for FISA proves Obama has no qualms about discarding his word for the sake of political expedience.
Obama is a disaster. Where is the clown with the hook to drag this waste off the stage?
I think John Kerry has a previous engagement.
Top Ten List of Reasons Obama won’t do town hall meetings with McCain
10. Not enough of the people attending are bi-lingual.
9. Theres a rumor Jesse Jacksons coming with hedge clippers.
8. No guarantees the media will always film his good face.
7. Afraid McCain will offer him Iranian Cigarettes.
6. Not sure which dates he’s supposed to be kissing Bill Clintons Ass.
5. Too many people under the bus to drive it.
4. Nobody attending completed the required community service.
3. Not enough room to store all his flip flops
2. What’s the use nobody’s listening to me correctly
1. That’s not the McCain I knew for twenty years
You forgot, because hes a lying coward.
lol*….good ones!
LMAO. That’s pretty damned funny.
HA!
8. No guarantees the media will always film his good face.
Clever..
They’ll have to be briefed on which side of his mouth he’ll be talking out of.
I want to ask him if your parent(s) has done more than one Iraq tour if maybe you hadn’t done enough community service already?
LOL
He is like Nixon too in that Nixon got into Office telling the American people he had a “secret plan” to get out of Viet-Nam. Look how that turned out?
Obama will make Iraq worse because he is incompetent like Bush.
This is what I’ve been saying. Barack has a “Secret Plan” to overturn FISA, end the Iraq war and give us universal health care.
If that doesn’t work there’s always Roe v Wade. Boo!
Operation Chaos Phase II has been declared.
Now I mentioned at the top of the program, ladies and gentlemen, time for Phase II Operation Chaos. Here are orders from headquarters. But first a little setup. There are two things happening that provide opportunities for troops in Operation Chaos to be deployed in Phase II. The Messiah, Lord Barack Obama, the most merciful, has issued commandments to the Democrat National Committee. It is his will that the way the party platform is written be changed. This year with the blessings of The Messiah, Lord Obama, the process of writing the Democrat Party platform will be open to the public. Do you see where we’re headed here? Yes, my friends, lowly subjects, people like you from the voting class who are only of interest once every four years to people like Obama, you will be allowed to sit in the same room as elitist Democrat operatives to craft the Democrat Party platform. Along with this new commandment from the Most Merciful Lord Obama, it was revealed that the Lord Obama will deliver his acceptance speech at Denver’s outdoor stadium, Invesco Field at Mile High, after which thousands in attendance will genuflect and he will then ascend into the clouds, ladies and gentlemen.
…
Deputy campaign manager Steve Hildebrand offered this guidance concerning the platform edict. He said the Most Merciful Obama “believes that every American should be able to contribute to the Democratic platform, just as record numbers have participated in this campaign.” So the Most Merciful Messiah, Lord Barack Obama, wants people in every state in record numbers to participate. Perhaps this can be arranged, ladies and gentlemen. As supreme commander of Operation Chaos, I have an announcement of my own, to all forward position troops in the 50 states — make that 57 states — you are on alert. In coming days, we will tell you exactly how you can participate in writing — ha-ha-ha — the Democrat Party platform at the request of the Most Merciful Lord Barack Obama. You will be called upon once again to serve your country as you did so brilliantly this past spring on another mission, delivering more chaos to the Democrat Party at their own invitation.
One more opportunity for Operation Chaos Phase II. “Barack Obama’s presidential campaign modified a solicitation for donations on its national website Tuesday evening to comply with Minnesota lottery laws after it was informed by a state law enforcement investigator that it was violating state law.” I told you this yesterday, they’re running a lottery, and the Obama website was offering supporters “who donated at least $5 to the campaign a chance to win a free trip for two to the Democratic National Convention in Denver.” They were going to have ten winners, each winner can bring a guest, a hotel room overnight, and a chance to meet The Messiah backstage at the Invesco Field at Mile High and then to watch his acceptance speech from there. But Obama screwed up, ladies and gentlemen, one of the most basic rules: Thou shalt not create a lottery. Isn’t state regulation a b-i-itch, folks? It gets in the way of everybody, even messiahs. Anyway, here’s the opportunity for Phase II of Operation Chaos. The Democrats want ten winners out of people that contribute five bucks or more to the Obama campaign. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if some or even all of those winners happened to be Operation Chaos troops?
Now, in the past, ladies and gentlemen, as your commanding officer, orders from headquarters have never included you spending any money. This remains your option. If you go to the Obama website, you find a way, ’cause they’ve revamped it. I mean, they haven’t pulled it, but they’ve revamped it. So if you go to the website, the Obama website, you will be able to see this little contest and send ‘em ten bucks as a campaign donation. I know what you’re thinking, “Why should we pay for his campaign?” I understand this. That’s why it’s purely elective. This is not a command order. But it does represent an opportunity for Operation Chaos troops to perhaps end up on stage at the Democrat National Convention at Mile High at Invesco Field.
I cannot agree to the orders, I’m sure the Obamacamp has the “winners” already fixed.
You’ll spot them at the voting booths wearing prison orange, if they aren’t covered in dirt after rising from the dead.
I’m with imustprotest on this one. Not one red dime. Not even a blue one.
The truth is the truth - even if it is someboby like Rove saying it. It is another sign of the degradation of the Democratic party that Rove can see something that Dean and Brazile can’t.
No, it is a sign of the degradation of your thought as a human being that you have convinced yourself to take Karl Rove seriously as anything other than a skilled but highly partisan political operative who will say anything that advances his party’s interests.
You know, I say so what? Can you guys not read and evaluate a piece based on the actual content? All I ever see from Obamabots are remarks about the partisanship of this or that writer.
Now, if it’s gossipy, OK, then criticize. Dick Morris makes a living off of bashing the Clintons. His pieces were usually nothing more than muckracking. I could evaluate them easily. Rove is making a fairly obvious point. It doesn’t take a political strategist to come to his conclusion.
It’s based on a simple truth. Want credibility? Say what you mean. Mean what you say.
Has Obama done that? Resoundingly “No!” He is obviously not a man of his word.
Who cares that Rove is Rove? That doesn’t mean his thesis is incorrect.
I’m sick of idiots who can’t think for themselves. You guys are the reason this idiot is even being considered for the position. He’s so out-gunned that everyone is noticing he’s whipped, tired, stumbling, and incoherent.
That’s due to derivative thinking by Obamabots, who had no ability to think for themselves, took his talking points as the TRUTH, repeated his garbage all over the net, and now can’t figure out why Obama has a credibility problem with the public.
Buckle up. Reality is going to be a very bumpy entry ride for you guys.
muckraking, that is.
opps, I almost thought you were talking about Barry until you got to “that advances his PARTY’S interests” Barry would be advancing HIS OWN interests.
So reading opposing viewpoints is now somehow unDemocratic? Is that anything like being unpatriotic? Or being a terrorist sympathizer or wanting America to lose in Iraq? Ya see where I’m going with this? Um, probably not.
And how are you different? It seems to me that you’re doing the exact same thing.
Bullseye!!!!!!
Rove nailed it. The assumption that people will ignore his shift in policy positions is erroneous. People are watching, and he’s lost credibility now.
I see signs that nobody is really much listening to him, and why should they? He’ll just change the plan next week.
Rove is dead right about credibility being hard won and easily lost.
The pundits are counting on everyone forgetting his original positions by the Fall. That’s risky.
I think instead that he’s defining himself as undefinable and wishy-washy.
For those who don’t remember Carter, that might not bother them. For those who do? It will be a reason to go with the more experienced candidate who knows it’s better to say, “Let me think about that one.”
Just because Rove said it doesn’t make it false. I believe Hussein Obama is as corrupt as Nixon but I do not think it is “a run to the middle” as much as who Obama is or his loyalties are.
This FISA law is awful, despicable, guts the fourth amendment. If they can so easily gut the 4th will the 2nd, 1st, 6th, etc, be as easy to abolish?
AP: “Bush readies pen; Relishes signing wiretap bill
President Bush is poised to sign a bill that overhauls the bitterly disputed rules on secret government eavesdropping and grants immunity to telecommunications companies that helped the U.S. spy on Americans”
The Democrats not only let this bill get by , they helped and fixed it so it would get by easily. Both house and senate voted on same identical bill so no commitee could touch it again.
Now tell me again how great the Democrats are , because I have forgotten why I have been voting for/as a Democrat for 32 years. Both parties suck. The Democratic party , run by Howard Dean, is corrupt. Welcome back to the new culture of corruption.
Hope they check on the Obama lemmings first…seems they are all in agreement that constitutional and regular old laws don’t apply to them and their Messiah.
Sweet Heart dirty Mortgages

and just for kicks, their best buds are terrorists and convicted felons..who hoo..just who are those wire tapes going to listen in on?
Hope is the Hope We’ve Been Hoping For!
So, I take it Rove is endorsing? I knew Obama was the best candidate.
Another non-reader Obamabot.
During Rove’s college republican days, he worked to get Nixon re-elected (or maybe he just believed in party unity).
Can you not read? I didn’t think sounding like Nixon was an endorsement.
You know, Roadburdened, you should go off in a corner and lick your crotch. It will calm your fevered brain.
I can read just fine. Can you think, or are you the typical Billary KAD? It was just a few weeks ago that Rove was calling Obama a country club elitist (Nixon hated those folks, btw). I apologize for not taking a Karl Rove propaganda piece seriously.
Actually, I thought Rove nailed him on that piece, too. He is a country club elitist. It just didn’t work because of his race and past policies of country clubs.
The only thing in this piece that’s funny and partisan is comparing him to Nixon. *haha
Obama likes being compared to Reagan, of course. We all heard the great Reagan speech….(what a jerk!). But Nixon?
That’ll ruffle his feathers.
And that always makes me smile.
Billary KAD? Hmmmmm. Niiiice. See you in November, dickweed. No wonder we keep losing with morons like you running the show. What part of studying the opposition do you not get? You read what Rove has to say and read between the lines. It’s called CRITICAL THINKING. Jesus.
Why not? Your candidate is using his tactics.
I just read Robert Dalek’s Nixon and Kissinger, and Richard Nixon was famously paranoid, insecure and resentful of those he thought had the things he wanted and couldn’t have. He was ashamed of his working class roots and cynically exploited them as a candidate at the same time… “Pat’s Cloth Coat” and all that. Rove called Obama the kind of man who stands off to the corner at the country club with his martini and makes snotty comments about people as they walk by him. Obama is an elitist like nixon in that he has no empathy for the people affected by his decision making. He craves power, and once he has it, he disdains the people “beneath him.” Like a weakling who wants their payback for the bullying in junior high, they always nurse their resentments. They are never fully accepted when they finally arrive and make terrible leaders.
Well when Jessee does yank off Obama’s balls, sorry, nuts, the rest of the obamabots will have to follow the ritual..or eat their words.
NOBAMA NUTS!
Even Republicans try to pretend Nixon never existed. It’s no compliment to be compared to Nixon.
Baloney, Obama is the Dem Obama W. Bush…..pom poms et al…
Yeah who better than Rove to recognize the republican flip flopper, lying, racist, Obama.
The super-D’s have 6 weeks to get their ’stuff’ together and decide to nominate an electable candidate. Wish I thought the chances of that were better than a snowball in Crawford…
not with all the mental cases supporting Barry!
nope
Ain’t gonna happen. They’ll let him careen to disaster before they’d admit they screwed up and let Pelosi bully them into a bad call.
They all know exactly what happened. It’s all about Pelosi.
And today, Congressional approval ratings are in the 20’s. Unbelievable.
They let the most unpopular minority whip ever in the history of the country bully them into stupidity.
You better believe they are hoping we all don’t notice the truth.
And what’s your evidence on electability? Obama’s ahead in all the electoral vote map trackers — all of them.
Um, except AOL. Douche.
You might find this interesting then.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/108676/July-Leader-Lost-Last-Competitive-US-Elections.aspx
In case you refuse to read it, here’s the crux of the story.
That’s great. - And the election’s tomorrow, right?
BO, in his “you’re not listening” speech said something about making things clear, and it reminded me of Nixon’s famous, “Let me make this perfectly clear.” Get ready for “I am not a crook” redux.
You’re right hootnannie, it IS like the “Let me make this perfectly clear” speech!
Hahahahahha. Damn. I forgot about that one. Get ready for Barky’s SOCK IT TO ME? moment as well.
I’ve been here too long. Even the disabled have to get around a bit.
{{NO Quarter}}
Isn’t that sweet? sfhillary’s assignment today was to troll NQ. What a good little Obamabot.
You’re judging a candidate’s standing by how many people go on their web site? How very, very strange.
What about the fact that he’s had a lead in the various poll averages since he clinched? Or that Obama leads in all the electoral map trackers? Or that Obama is leading or tied in any number of deep red states, including MT and ND, not to mention swing states like MI, OH, NH, CO, NM and IO.
and why is that strange?
a. hillary
b. mccain
america first!
Not if you take into account the margin of error in the major polls. Statistically he and McCain are tied.
Face it, people don’t trust Obama because he’s all over the map with his policies.
He’s done a 180 on the majority of his positions. He’s publicly admitted to trying to disavow the left of the Democratic Party.
But keep supporting someone who disavows or votes against the very policies he claims he was for.
He’ll suddenly change when he reaches the WH.
Obama’s “Secret Plan” to govern from the left once he reaches the WH. Until then the left can go screw itself.
Obama - Nixon redux.
Margins of error apply to one poll - They don’t apply to averages of polls.
The margin of error has to do with sampling error.
When multiple polls over the same time period show one candidate in the lead, it is statistically impossible for that to be because of sampling error.
It’s definitely going to be tight. Yesterday, Gallup had McCain within 2 points. That’s statistically a tie.
He’s edged ahead in MO. Obama has reacted by landing 150 paid staffers there. McCain has widened his lead this week in FL….up by 8 now. He’s close in Ohio….4 points. That’s a true battleground state. He’s very close in NM and CO….less than 5 points.
It’s going to be a fight.
One thing for sure. There’s been enough stability now in the polls to safely say that Obamabot’s dream of stampeding into the White House is a fairytale.
And I’m not intentionally bringing up the rumors of him being on the down-low.
You have to look at poll averages if you want to at least try to be objective. NO credible analyst relies on one poll from one polling organization.
RCP is 5 points. LOL*
I read, btw.
You may not want to try that tactic on me, anyway.
and according to both gallup and rasmussen today he is 3pts up over mcain and thats within the margin of error and stupid you think thats good news ,if you do i have some beachfront property for you here in phoenix,i give a hope and change deal on it.
Ha!

sfhillary = believe ?
okay, so far everyone is ignoring believes comments! good, keep it up! ignore believe!
Change was Obama.
Total con job and millions got punked.
OT, but Ed Schultz is right back at it again today-
“Hey you Hillary supporters, how much of Obama’s money do you think your candidate is entitled to? There’s supposed to be 18 million of you, how come you can’t pony up a few dollars each and pay off this debt? How much longer is this crap going to go on?”
“You Hillary supporters.” “Obama’s money.” “Your candidate.” “Entitled.” “This Crap.”
Yeah, I’m going to support your candidate with my money and my votes, Big Eddie. Take your condescending snark and shove it up your wide faux-Progressive ass.
Again- every time you open your mouth, you cost your candidate votes. Please, keep it up.
Ed Schultz was saying at one point he didn’t know where Obama stood. What’s funny is, I was listening to “liberal” radio. Hardly any hosts mentioned the FISA vote. In fact, those that brought it up tried to excuse it.
Imagine the furor if Hillary had voted for FISA. The howls would be endless.
In fact many of these same “liberal” hosts predicted Hillary would vote for the bill and Obama against it.
Now they don’t seem to want to speak about it all.
That’s “at all”.
Schultz and the rest of the “Progressive” yakkers want to talk about gas prices, Iraq, John McCain, Hillary being a money-grubbing sore loser, and (today) Jesse Jackson.
The FISA vote? It’s almost as if it never happened.
Down the Memory Hole. Nothing that reflects badly on Barack Obama is allowed to interfere with the narrative.
They talked about it quite awhile. Mentally healthy people don’t have the need to talk about the same issue on and on and on and on.
Then why are you here? Evidently, you’re not mentally healthy either.
Schultz’s real game plan is to get another republican in the white house.
Setting the stage for four more years of righteous, and ineffectual, talk radio indignation.

We do need your money. I sent a donation today. By the way, I cannot wait for an investigation into where all of Obama’s money comes from. I always thought that there was something fishy there. Obama is a typical, filthy, Chicago, thug. He disgraceful.
Why don’t you take out an ad and call for one? Do something, NQ-ers!
well believe, actually the DEM Congress is blocking the appt of half the FEC so there is no quorum and we cant get an investigation done very quickly if at all…
but complaints were already filed, by Conservatives I think, thank you for your concern :0)
have a better day!!
Tis the nature of his campaign. He evokes disdainful remarks, sexism, ageism, and disunity.
This meme will be just like the Where are Hillary’s Tax Returns meme. They will not be the least bit embarassed by how they talked when her bill was paid off by HER supporters. They will ignore yet again the sexist nature of how they are behaving. All other campaigns receive help from the winner. But not Hillary.
They will ignore it. And they won’t know why we are firm in our decision to Just Say No Deal to Obama.
They will never get it.
Rove wants to get his credit!
The Producer of Anderson Cooper 360 attacked competitor Greta Van Susteren and her show stating:
We’re a news program,” while Ms. Van Susteren’s show is “not a news program,” Mr. Doss told TVNewser on Tuesday. “It’s missing-person-of-the-day. There’s an audience for that, but it’s not what we do. We’re covering the world, not just covering who’s missing today.
Doss was implying Ven Susteren’s show was unintellectual and said it lacked international news. The gist was that his show was important news and her show wasn’t. The media is extremely male dominated and this appears to be another example of men trying to push women out of “their” territory in order to maintain dominance.
Anytime you criticize a woman or beat her in an election that is prima facie evidence of sexism — That’s what you’re arguing?
anytime you say boo to Uhhbama its racism, but the answer to your question is of course not, silly
but AC360 DOES do FLUFF pieces ALL THE TIME, so it is ridiculous for their producer to somehow put himself as NEWS above GVS who is an accomplished attorney and as such focuses often on crime pieces…
but you just wanted to play the anti sexism card right believe? silly rabbit trix are for trollz
And anytime you criticize a black man or refuse to vote for him in an election that is prima facie evidence of racism — That’s what you trolls have been arguing, isn’t it?
Sadly Sonia is FLOODING the threads with this same drivel for some unknown reason and you are right, this time it had nothing to do with sexism (imo). It was a producer of one show criticizing another show, of another network, of which both shows suck, as do their networks.
But you’re still a fool for supporting Obama. It is sad you WASTE your time trolling here when you could seriously go to google, on your own and really research the truth and facts about Obama, write them down and really sit and look at what you have in front of you.. not the hype, but the FACTS and search your sole on just what you truly care about the most. A half breed winning the presidency to make a statement, or the well being of your country.
Ya could do that..
It was a pretty snide comment from “Android” Cooper.
Greta responds:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/greta_van_susteren_on_fnc_vs_cnn_missingperson_cases_and_missing_wisconsin_88603.asp
1. TVNewser: Critics often lambaste cable’s emphasis on the big missing persons/murder cases (e.g., Scott Peterson, Natalee Holloway).
Van Susteren: First, as noted, the question says ‘the critics.’ At Fox we don’t program for the ‘critics.’ Whether the critics like it or not, missing people is a serious topic, and if you don’t believe me, ask a family member.
This is not about pontificating from the sidelines — this is about real problems for people. And second, if you look at it, everyone in the business covers these murder cases cited in the question (including the high-and-mighty, who do it by the underhanded way of talking about how the others are doing it and how horrible it is that they do — that is what the critics do when they talk about it…hmmm…the oldest trick in the book and one we used often in the courtroom: “I am not calling this police officer a liar…” Just what are you doing?).
Yes, we at Fox — and especially at 10pmET — get criticized often for these stories as though we are the only ones covering these topics, but I suspect we get all the attention and much of the criticism for one reason: we don’t just sit on the set and yakety-yak and let others do the heavy lifting. We actually go out and investigate (an old-fashioned journalism concept: investigation!).
Of course, my years as a trial lawyer with an emphasis on fact investigation helps make our work better. I am the ‘real deal’ when it comes to fact investigation. In other words, we do our jobs…and we may be the lightening rod for criticism simply because we are doing our jobs well. I don’t mind getting criticism for doing my job well.
I just heard Barky put his kids on tee vee (Access Hollywood???) in order to get more votes.
I am beyond disgusted. Is David Schuster going to say he’s pimping them out?
No, but he should. Since he said that about a 27 year old adult with her own mind, what would be his thoughts for Obama using his children under the age of 10 as partisan props?
That Obama is a pedophile pimp
and on the little ones birthday too
sad sad sad
Haha! Even his website is losing its luster among the kool-aid drinkers!? The thing is, man(and woman) can not live by kool-aid alone. Eventually, we all need some meat and while I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve visited that cess pool, I’m sure there isn’t any discernable meat. I could give a shit about seeing his haloed pictures day in and day out.
Well, I’m a very strong Obama supporter and I don’t go to his site as much as before.
The hits on the site are an absolutely meaningless indicator of a trend.

Now you have officially confirmed that you’re a pathetic Kool-Aid drinker. After all I’ve seen of Obama’s actions, I can’t help but feel that anyone who is still willing to support him is in a very sad state indeed.
Rove is wrong. Nixon was a very smart man. A strong politician. He screwed up. What he did would be NOTHING by today’s standards (after Reagan and Contra, and Bush and well, everything…)
After the fraud and corruption in the Bush admin, Nixon’s flaw wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow by today’s standards.
You know what BJ that is absolutely true. Sad, but true.
Rove can be a scumbag and perfectly right about Obama. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. I hate them both.
I guess I am both a racist and a far left loon!
This is now an Obama site. Leave.
Ha ha ha. I love snark.
John McCain raised more in June than in May. He raised 22 million. Where are the Obama numbers?
Since February (when his financing peaked) Obama’s fundraising numbers have declined 20% each month.
I had another thought after reading the Rove article:
Didn’t Kerry’s campaign just SUCK?
A young friend was traveling out of state as a Kerry volunteer, and was appalled at the disorganization and how uninformed the volunteers were.
The Bush volunteers were not bashful about engaging people as they went door to door.
My own annoyance was the amateurish Move On commercials. Most were hardly audible.
In the end, Kerry blamed it all on Edwards for refusing to go negative. (Rightfully, Kerry is annoyed over how Edwards had no qualms about blasting his opponents in this last primary)
Kerry’s campaign sadly had a lot of flaws but aside from his support of Obambi, I liked the guy.
Long after the election was won, there was a documentary on HBO following him on the campaign trail. I can’t recall who made it. (It might have been Pelosi’s daughter but not sure).
Anyway, it showed the guy in a light that we NEVER saw thru the actual campaign tactics. He was smart, compassionate and quite human with the ‘little people’ who came around him and wanted to converse with him. It wasn’t at all the same guy who couldn’t connect on the campaign trail.
If only America, and Americans could have seen the real Kerry during the campaign instead of the one put forward by the powers that be.
It’s just like the sad/scary (imo) campaign of Obama. They recently made a statement about being on a path to “a strict message and not straying from that path”.
That should scare the crap outta everyone.
The Republicans have a stronger grassroots operation, and they know how to please their party members so they tend to fall in line during elections. They’re longterm strategists and pragmatists. Bush messed up a good thing for them, but perhaps McCain can restore their credibility. He is liked around the world, too. Anyway, Kerry had young volunteers recruited from temp agencies. They lacked that personal touch and party commitment. They were strangers, too. People don’t pay much attention to out-of-towners during the GE. During the primaries, they’re counting on it; it’s like when the circus comes to town.
Ed Schulz is a jacka$$. I can’t stand the red headed big mouth and I am from the Dakota’s. After the last stop Obama made in Fargo, ND people started seeing him for what he was! A flip flopper. He also was bored as hell standing there talking. No the Dakota people are starting to come out of the Obama fog!!
Help Hillary become debt free and stop her from being a political prisioner.
https://contribute.hillarycampaign2008.com/tsland.html?sc=1983&utm_source=1983&utm_medium=e
Actually, Obama is doing better in ND than any Democrat since 1964.
only because folks in ND are mad at The Bush-Cheney.
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/43661.html
48 + 40 = 88. So 12% is not yet accounted for. The most interesting trend I’m following is that Barack Obama’s support has seemed to top out - and never reach 50%.
That’s the real story. How will the undecideds break? In the primaries, almost every time they broke hard for Hillary Clinton. Why? Because people who just aren’t sure sure the hell aren’t going to take a risk on such an unknown quantity.
We won’t know til November, but I have hope that Obama has maxed out.
He has gotten to 50%, even 51% in several polls.
But McCain, oh, his ceiling seems to be 45%.
Proper polling analysis looks at trends. One or two polls carrying him at an underwhelming 51% are considered outliers. And I haven’t seen any outliers since mid to later June.
McCain is the known quantity. The number of undecideds are going up.
I can’t predict the future, but I have hope in what I’m seeing in the trends.
Yep. That’s why I mentioned that the 50, 51% ones were unusual. But the overall trend is that Obama has been ahead since he clinched.
I read over this whole poll this afternoon and believe this poll to be skewed toward Democrats.
One of the questions asked of the Dem/Dem Leaners was whether they were for Obama or Clinton in the primary.
If I am remembering correctly, 7% more said they were for Obama than for Hillary.
Obviously, there was not a 7% lead by Obama over Hillary in popular vote in the Democrat primaries so I am not buying the whole thing.
Thank you for this post, which so clearly outlines the many faces of Uhhbama and his total failure to demonstrate ANY CORE DEMOCRATIC VALUES, ANY AT ALL
late term abortion-FLIP, opening up CHOICE to limitations for mental health, nice, so much for PARITY eh?
so dont come around here no more with that tired old Roe card, it is stare decisis and your candidate doesnt seem too concerned with protecting our right to choose anymore..funny how that happened when he went for the GOP votes aint it?
and the religious programs for the community? -FLIP- he says oh we will restore the federal discrimination regulations, great how about the 36 STATES that do not have a non discrimination law? It is hunkey dorey now for those states to get FED tax dollars and discriminate against hiring people from the gay community?
this empty suit does not have a CORE VALUE system of ANY kind, not for his own personality, his loyalties, his religious belief, his political system, his economic plans, nothing
there is NO telling what he will do on any given day and that is not a candidate I can vote for, all other things aside.
any trollz coming here crying for unity should consider that fact and please work for Hillary if you want a real Progressive and Democrat in the WH come January
HILLARY WILL BE POTUS
LOL and the phrasing for dont come around here no more, is of course form the great Tom Petty:

DONT COME AROUND HERE NO MORE
I am sure Larry and Susan welcome discussion and debate
sadly some trollz dont want that, they just want to swill the kool aid and harass the people raising valid questions about what the party is doing…
so please try to bring forth a valid argument and not the same old tripe each time
gracias!!!
This might go down well with a nice chianti.

Not surprisingly, you left out the following quotes from the article you sort of linked to:
They’re all voting and contributing to Obama. Yep, a nice wine goes fine with that.
You mean a nice whine
That’s Phil Gramm’s take on Americans and the economy — They’re whiners. And he’s McCain’s top economic advisor!

McCain has lots of advisers and surrogates, like EVERY OTHER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE. Are you denying that?
“We are experiencing enormous economic challenges as well as others. Phil Gramm does not speak for me. I speak for me. So I strongly disagree.”
Asked if Gramm might be in line for a job as treasury secretary, McCain joked: “I think Senator Gramm would be in serious consideration for ambassador to Belarus, although I am not sure that the citizens of Minsk would welcome that.”
That’s what’s called a JOKE. And McCain has previously said he thought Gramm would be a good Treasury Secretary.
McCain is much funnier than Obama.
No, he isn’t. Now, who’s spreading lies.
He is definitely one of McCain’s top economic advisers. He helped write McCain’s economic policies.

BTW, how did you like McCain saying yesterday that the funding mechanism that has existed for Social Security since its inception is “a disgrace.”?
Oh, really. Then, why did McCain say today that he was an energy advisor—not an economic advisor. And yes, I did agree with him. He’s right. That’s why SSI is the mess that it’s in today.
Social Security is an illusion.
Because it’s been advertised as a “trust fund” when it is not. the real debt of the US govt is over 50 Trillian dollars.
I dont care what the Democrats campaign on.. there will be no new National *anything* programs.
Our govt is bankrupt. And our enemies are doing what they can to contribute , and some of our enemies are just buying us up.
I dont think many of you poeple understand just how compromised we are. We are on the edge of very very dark days.
And this election campaign is like Alice in Wonderland.
Yes, we are living in dangerous times and that’s why I want John McCain to be President. This is not the time in our history to have a trainee in the White House.
and don’t forget CAMPAIN FINANCE….OH YES, my fav, he wants to take Corporate influence out fo politics, so he is going to rely on……..Corporate Interest money, instead of publc financing. We get it.
Try reading a real newspaper.
Like which? Because the response was unbelievable as to its universal condemnation of Obama breaking his word about campaign finance. Here’s some real newspapers:
* The WSJ had this to say:
So much moral good was expected from “campaign-finance reform” that Barack Obama’s announcement yesterday that he will opt out of public financing for his Presidential run is an historic moment. Senator Obama is the first candidate since the law was passed in the 1970s not to take matching funds for the general election. Even candidate George W. Bush, flush with cash in 2000 and 2004, didn’t do that.
* Of course, no friend to Obama, David Brooks of NYT, had an interesting op-ed today. He seems to have come to the conclusion that there are two Obamas.
But as recent weeks have made clear, Barack Obama is the most split-personality politician in the country today. On the one hand, there is Dr. Barack, the high-minded, Niebuhr-quoting speechifier who spent this past winter thrilling the Scarlett Johansson set and feeling the fierce urgency of now. But then on the other side, there’s Fast Eddie Obama, the promise-breaking, tough-minded Chicago pol who’d throw you under the truck for votes.
But the best part of this op-ed:
And Fast Eddie Obama didn’t just sell out the primary cause of his life. He did it with style. He did it with a video so risibly insincere that somewhere down in the shadow world, Lee Atwater is gaping and applauding. Obama blamed the (so far marginal) Republican 527s. He claimed that private donations are really public financing. He made a cut-throat political calculation seem like Mother Teresa’s final steps to sainthood.
* Also at the Politico, Ben Smith had this to say about what Obama’s “opt-out” says about him:
Obama’s move wasn’t out of character. In fact — though he has at times adopted popular reform causes — Obama has never been a traditional reformer. He came to politics through the community organizing movement, whose radical founder, Saul Alinsky, mocked highbrow reformers, and focused instead on the acquisition and use of power, with the ends often justifying the means.
———————————-
Kerry’s campaign, Shrum wrote in his memoir, “No Excuses,” had a fierce internal debate over whether to opt out of public financing. Obama’s never seems to have seriously considered sacrificing its political advantage for a principle and seems cheerfully resigned to being chided by East Coast editorial boards.
Pish and tush, Karl. Obama isn’t moving to the center–he’s jumping straight over to the right! What a fraud.
Woe Betide the Democrats

Polls steady? GREAT! Let’s see some drops for the presumptive nominee then all we’ll have to worry about in Nov. is that Soros doesn’t buy Dibold.
The fundamental difference being that Nixon was a true centrist, whereas B. Hussein Obama is a radical left-wing demagogue…
His issue positions are virtually the same as Clinton’s. I bet you never did support her, did you?
Clinton’s positions are consistent with a long history in public service and her record.
Obama has proven he’ll say anything. I just don’t believe anything he says.
Obama has already proven that he did NOT have the same positions as Clinton.
What you say is basically what Obama wanted you to believe. “He has the same views as Clinton, therefore you should pick him because he’s not white and can give commanding speeches.” -Which are all very shallow reasons to choose someone over. He played those like you, so there’s no excuse for you now. There’s no shame in admitting you were tricked. I’d rather admit that then continue believing a huge lie and make myself look like a massive tool.
You could also admit that you didn’t want our leader to be a girl. That would help.
Nonsense. Did she vote for FISA? For wider warrantless wiretapping than ever before? For telecomm immunity? For Scooter Libby Justice?
No.
That perfidy was the province of your candidate.
And you should be ashamed.

Rove would already be gaining Mitchell comparisons if it were not for the criminal excuse for an AG of Bush’s second regime, Fredo Gonzales, who overshadows Rove’s own security breach and lawbreaking in two different items.
I hope democrats keep pushing these sorts of issues.. There’s still 9 points left for them to lose.
I agree with all susanunpc wrote here, but UNLIKE Richard Nixon, I don’t believe Obama would help Israel against an Arab Nation attack, as Nixon did in 1973. When Golda Meir asked Nixon to come to Israel’s aid against an attack by Anwar Sadat, most of Nixon’s staff and our European allies told him to offer only a token response in order to avoid antagonizing the oil rich Arab nations. But Nixon sent almost 28 tons of weaponry, and ordered our armed services,”Tell them to send anything that will fly!” [ per Jennifer Rubin in the Jerusalem Post on July 1, 2008]. Does anyone truly believe that Barack Obama would support Israel in this way??? Not Likely!!! He may go so far as having a chat with the aggressors without preconditions. Duh!!
Rove is exactly right. Nixon’s modus operandi was always to run as far to the right as possible in the GOP primaries, then lurch back to the center in the general election. Voters in the 1950s and 1960s never really penalized him for it, probably owing to the fact that the only news voters got from the campaign trail those days was in the newspapers and a few minutes on the TV news each night. So, his flip-flops weren’t that widely publicized.
Barack Obama is trying exactly the same strategy. But I think he has miscalculated severely on two levels:
1) Today’s 24/7 news cycle and the prevalence of the internet mean that far, far more voters are going to be aware of Obama’s blatant flip-flops and will easily recognize them as simple pandering for votes. Also, the culture among today’s reporters is to value the “GOTCHA!” moment above all else.
2) While far-right wing Republicans might grumble about Nixon’s flip-flops, they’d nevertheless never fail to dutifully turn out and vote for him in the general election. Today’s extreme liberals are far more likely to hold a grudge and take it personally when Obama flip-flops. The great majorty of them, after all, have the emotional temperaments of children. Remember …
“Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line.”
Barack Obama made his bed with the moonbat left, and now he wants to change bedmates? The moonbats won’t take kindly to that at all. He would have been much better advised to have stayed true to his original positions and defended them. Too late now.
