The rule of law has been thrown out the window and so many Americans don’t give a hoot about truth and justice.
What was illegal about the occupation? SInce the first Gulf War, the UN had authorized the US and UK to occupy 2/3’s of Iraqi airspace and to use military force against Saddam Hussein for any violations by the Iraqi military of that airspace. In 1998 Congress passed with full backing of the Democrats the Iraqi Freedom Act that was signed into law by Clinton authorizing US military force to overthrow Saddam Hussein as the head of the Iraqi government. Finally, the UN Security Council approved two resolutions against Saddam Hussein authorizing “grave consequences” for his failure to comply with earlier UN resolutions. It was always understood that those grave consequences included the military overthrow authorized under the Iraqi Freedom Act and ratified under the war powers granted to BUsh by the Congress with most Congressional democrats voting in favor of those powers. Grave consequences did not mean Saddam would be sent to bed without his dessert.

Two Seats to capture the senate…
Two years ago, and with much fanfare, the Democrats announced their “commonsense plan” to lower gas prices and spoke of the need to make more of America’s energy available to the American people.
When Democrats took control of the Senate last January, gas was $2.32 per gallon according to AAA. Since then gas has risen to $3.53 per gallon (over $4.00)

Are you serious? If that were true, we wouldn’t have to put up with all of you trolls day in and day out.
NQ only bans users who go over the line (usually racial, homophobic or sexist slurs), and they only delete posts when they find that multiple user names are being generated from the same IP address.
From my experience when NQ deletes a post it leaves the post up but deletes the content and leaves a disclaimer to that effect. That’s very different from the treatment we Hillary supporter’s get from the BOBOweenie sites. Keep a log of your posts and if one gets deleted bring it to our attention when it happens to you. Short of that your word isn’t good for shit here.

The problem with waiting until 2012 for Hillary to run again as POTUS is that Obama will do so much damage to the country and the Democratic party the same way that Bush has damaged the GOP such that voters, who have very short memories, will blame the ills of the country on Democrats in general and then choose another Republican for POTUS in 2012 to succeed Obama if he becomes President in November.
This is pure supposition. Obama could turn out to be a good president. He does, after all, advocate what are basically mainstream democratic policies.
It’s important not to get so totally focused on uncertainties about Obama that we totally fail to take into account the what we actually do know about the direction the republicans have set for us. There’s a basic truth about John McCain: Nothing he’s said since he began his campaign represents a significant deviation from the policies currently being pursued by George W. Bush. If anything, he’s swung more into line with Bush policies. He formerly opposed the Bush tax cut distribution scheme, for example, but now firmly states he will make the Bush tax cuts permanent. He has no plan to address the nation’s economic problem. It’s not even clear that republicans understand how serious and how systemic the problem is, or that many of their own policies have been directly responsible for it. Commenting on the economy and Bush’s term of office, John McCain said this: “I think if you look at the overall record, and millions of jobs having, being created, etc., etc., you can make an argument that there’s been great progress economically, over that period of time.” (“Money & Politics,” Bloomberg, 4/17/08)

It shouldn’t be a matter of simply rejecting Obama out of hand. It should be a matter of carefully weighing one candidate’s set of policies and perceptions against those of the other–keeping in mind that by voting for one or the other, you’re not just empowering a person, but a political party and all it represents.
How much damage might Obama do? That’s a legitimate question. So is this one: How much damage have the republicans already done, and how much more might their policies do if they go 4 more years unchecked?

You’re going to lay all of the current problems of the nation at the feet of the democrats, and blame them because they haven’t turned things around in a mere year-and-a-half?
Consider the interference that’s been run during that year-and-a-half by both the republican minority and the White House; consider the even split in the Senate; consider also how much momentum is involved in the course republican policies have set us on– the long-term consequences of republican deregulation, for example, through both legislation and the politicization of regulatory agencies. Changing course is going to take a Herculean effort sustained over a long time. There are enormous built-in obstacles with every issue. And on top of everything else, there’s 7 1/2 years of total fiscal irresponsibility on the part of the Bush administration to somehow cope with, in a time when the economy is tanking. The guy has run up a tab larger than all previous presidential administrations combined. Bush will be leaving the nation in debt up to its ears.
There would actually be a certain perverse satisfaction to be had from letting the republicans stay in control for a few more years. Why should the democrats step into the spotlight just as the shit finally hits the fan? The time-honored republican tradition of totally screwing things up then blaming the democrats for the results is clearly already in play. It’s actually about the only thing they’ve got going for them.

I have weighed the issues. Even though the Republicans had a majority until 2006, Democrats refused to tackle them on issues and many just lined up with the Republicans.
After 2006, Democrats still let the Republicans set the agenda, Bush’s bills were still speedily passed, his vetoes not overridden.
Impeachment was off the table, just as it had been for the previous six years. The war went on just as it had for the previous three years. The exposure of CIA agent Valerie Plame remained unsolved, the Constitutionally illegal FISA bill has been passed with the help of Democrats and Barack Obama.
How could anyone believe that by putting Barack Obama in Our White House that miracles will occur? He had the chance with FISA. He has openly stated that he prefers the policies of Republicans, that he likes the Reagan ideology upon which the Republican government has been based since 1980.
The only thing left to weigh, unless Senator Hillary Clinton is the nominee, is whether you prefer the policies of McCain or Obama and frankly, I trust McCain over Obama because the Republicans rejected him in 2000 and the crooks in Chicago embraced Obama as one of their own.
So win the congress, then. Obama is setting the tone now, and I already don’t like it. Faith-based initiatives have no place in our government. Period. FISA was a bad law. Period. Campaign finance reform was good, and he’s ruined it. Period. Racial tensions are higher than in 15 years because of his copping out and playing the race card when cornered. Period.
I’m already seeing much to dislike about him, but the real issue is that the leadership is completely unaccountable for their lies, their sexism, their manipulations, and their dismissive, elitist attitudes.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget how whole states and groups of people were so rudely described by the Democratic Party as racist and uneducated. That will stick in my head forever.
And I never did agree to sign up for that crap as a Democrat.

It was said during George H. W. Bush’s first presidential run that he had a difficult time finding a vice president candidate who did not overshadow him. It seems that Barack Obama is having the same problem.
But I say to all you Obama disciples who come here to insult us, that this is not about your candidate, not about what he wants, wishes or desires. He has asked for the job of a public servant; someone to represent We the People to the nations of this world.
And it is our job to choose the right leader for the job. Mr. Obama refuses to present a resume, perhaps because it is so thin. But in the end, it is the decision of We the People, not parties, not candidates, not even the government; because a government without People is no government at all.
WE believe that McCain loves the USA.
Look at the beliefs of Obama in his own words, how he looks at Whites, etc.,not the items shared from others and how they look at him. He picked his church and supported it for years until he could get more by tossing it under the bus. Sen Obama the head of a committee that he is too busy to convene but does not appoint someone to chair until he is up to doing his job? If that is what you feel should be running the top office in the land support him.
There is more to being President than having all bow down to him. He has told many of us he does not need us and we honor his wishes and will vote for one who is willing to accept us as we are.

The soldiers and commanders we spoke to will not engage in political conversation or talk about any particular candidate, but they had some strong opinions about the military mission which they are trying to accomplish, and the dramatic security gains they have made in the past few months.
We spent a day with Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond in Sadr City. He is the commander of the 4th Infantry Division, which is responsible for Baghdad. Hammond will likely be one of the commanders who briefs Barack Obama when he visits Iraq.
“We still have a ways to go. Number one, we’re working on security and it’s very encouraging, that’s true, but what we’re really trying to achieve here is sustainable security on Iraqi terms. So, I think my first response to that would be let’s look at the conditions.
And 90 percent of the equipment would have to be moved by ground through the Iraqi war zone, to the port in Kuwait, where it must all be cleaned and inspected and prepared for shipment. This is a place with frequent dust storms, limited port facilities and limited numbers of wash racks.
While Anderson and his troops have a positive attitude, several commanders who looked at the Obama plan told ABC News, on background, that there was “no way” it could work logistically.

This is off-topic, but two YouTube videos claim to show Obama’s barbershop but something strikes me as odd. One from February 2008 and another from December 2007, both videos look like they are in two different shops, even though the name on the outside is the same. The two shops look different on the inside, but the guy who claims he is his actual barber is in both videos. The guy who put the February video together claims the shop is run by Muslims but the guy who did the other video makes no mention of that. Maybe it’s nothing.

I have you beat in getting banned for being a Hillary supporter and blogging agianst Obama. During the primary’s two blogs banned me. I had been a regular poster on these blogs for 4-5 years before they started supporting Obama and stopped allowing dissent or freedom of speech on there blogs. IF you didn’t agree with Obama then you were axed and I was told a blog was not a place for free speech it was “there” blog and they could decide who was a troll and who wasn’t. I guess it’s the equivalent of not being invited on television to them. Its somehow their network and they make the rules! Fuck them - haven’t been back since. I boycott most the blogs that like to call themselves left or even progressive or liberal. Most of them are power hungry self absorbed… Got to go!
