What possible motive would a candidate have for moving close to positions supported by the current President? The one with the 29% approval rating. I dunno. You think he might be pandering? Just a tad.
But seriously. It would do Obama some good to have a little shame.

Take social issues. Obama is now a gun-rights advocate. Like Bush, he applauded the Supreme Court’s overturning of a Washington, D.C., ordinance banning the possession of handguns.
The senator, also like Bush, supports the death penalty. He recently objected to the court’s rejection of a state law that allowed for the execution of child rapists.
And although Obama is still pro-choice, he now, like the president, thinks “mental distress” should not justify late-term abortion.
In addition, the new Obama would like to continue — and even expand — Bush’s controversial faith-based initiative program of involving churches in government anti-poverty programs.
I kind of expect Obama to pull a Dave Chappelle number and go for that redneck vote.

The problem is that everyone buys into the belief that those on the right of center should be pandered to and those on the left dismissed. The media clearly holds this point of view. They think it is perfectly reasonable for McCain to pander to his right-wing base and for Obama to tack right too. No one is representing those on the left (and I do not mean far left) and this is just fine with them. If ever there was a time to marginalize the right this is it! Instead we get the message that McCain’s base is more important than Obama’s. No mention of how pandering.to the right wing will turn off swing voters, but a lot about how running to the left will. This is particularly bizarre given how unpopular Bush and his quintessentially Republican policies are!
We have to fight back against this by showing that the Democratic party cannot take our votes for granted. Not giving money is a good start as is complaining to the media as well as the party about this irrational belief.

Obama keeps telling us if we vote for McCain, we are voting to give Bush another term, but Obama is now adopting most of G.W. previous positions and agreeing and voting yes to them.
So should I take it that if we vote for Obama we are also voting to put Bush back in office, Obama cant be telling us that Bush was very wrong for this country and yet he seems to be agreeing to all the proposal that Bush had during his tenure.
Obama has to make up his mind if a Republican government is so bad then why the hell is he saying yes to what they have done.

We are making the same mistake that the Republican Party made in 2000 and 2004. This fraudulent election is much, much, bigger than Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. This is part II of the hijacking of the United States government and America itself.

Bush’s family’s name and Obama’s personality disarmed/disarms their respective parties. Dick Cheney represented the power behind the thrown for Bush while David Alexrod is Obama’s puppet-master.
Real Republicans stood by paralyzed in disbelief as neo-con named agents gutted and reformulated the party, the different branches of government, and the main stream media. This was Part I of seizing control of the largest economy and the mightiest military on earth.
Part II is unfolding before our very eyes this election cycle inside the Democratic Party. If these agents of global dominance succeed again, the American experience will have ended.
This isn’t about race, or class, or party, or gender, or even generational; this is about co-opting our near perfect union for selfish gain.

The poll numbers are interesting. Newsweek’s last survey in June showed Obama with a 15 percentage point lead; it is now only a three percentage point lead.
Gallup Daily Tracking has shown a consistent minor lead by Obama with a tie for a few days at the end of June.
Real Clear Politics provides an overall average. The average has gone DOWN. The spread is now only 4.8 points. Historically, Dems have been ahead of the Republicans at this point and lost. Additionally, given the state of the economy, Iraq and the dislike for Obama, one would think Obama would be doing better.
Maybe Obama wants to be more like Bush hoping his numbers will go up!

These polls are meaningless. A lot of manipulations, especially Newsweek. The big guns from the right are waiting till after Denver, at that point polls start to count.
I find it interesting that Newsweeks polls went from 15% in June to 3% within a matter of weeks.

In the news today, announcing another spike in crude oil prices, it is estimated that $700Billion has gone to the Middle East oil merchants this year; “the largest transfer of wealth in the history of the world.” Dean/Pelosi/Reid thought we were so angry at Bush that we wouldn’t even notice when they foist his twin off on us…disguised as a Democrat. It really isn’t a mystery as to why they’ve been so ineffectual. They haven’t wanted any change until they could get their greedy hands on the reins.
