The media clearly holds this point of view. They think it is perfectly reasonable for McCain to pander to his right-wing base and for Obama to tack right too. No one is representing those on the left (and I do not mean far left) and this is just fine with them. If ever there was a time to marginalize the right this is it! Instead we get the message that McCain's base is more important than Obama's. No mention of how pandering.to the right wing will turn off swing voters, but a lot about how running to the left will. This is particularly bizarre given how unpopular Bush and his quintessentially Republican policies are! We have to fight back against this by showing that the Democratic party cannot take our votes for granted. Not giving money is a good start as is complaining to the media as well as the party about this irrational belief.
