So true! He was supposed to be a different kind of candidate who stood on principle! Even so, his shift to the center was pretty clumsy indeed! At least he should have stood against the FISA Bill!

Yeah. The guy in charge of BO’s health care plan is the same guy (his name escapes me now) who headed the campaign and pushed the Harry and Louise ads against HRC’s health care initiative in the 1990s. This explains why such an ad was revived in the primary campaign. Shame on you, Obama!

Interesting! I have two teenage nieces (both in Catholic High Schools in Sacramento & Berkeley, CA), one supported Obama at the beginning of the primaries, the other HRC.

By May–and without influence by me or her mother–the Obama supporter had switched to HRC. When asked why, she said that Obama spoke in vague terms and generalities and that she didn’t know how specifically he was going to change things. After watching the debates and the primary stump speeches, she now viewed HRC as the most capable of the two, a candidate with a plan and specifics to back it up. This niece reported that most of the student body in this all-girl high school was for HRC.

Unfortunately, the other niece and her male friends who supported HRC were called racists by the Obama crowd! To her dismay, HRC campaign signs posted on walls and student lockers were destroyed by Obama supporters. All in all, the atmosphere was very intimidating for HRC supporters at this Berkeley co-ed high school. She was very sensitive to the misogyny against HRC, both by the Obama campaign and by the media. This really depressed her. But she, too, sensed a buddying women’s movement for her generation as a result of the way these primaries played out.

It’s tradition for one candidate to pay off his/her opponent’s debt when s/he is presumed the nominee. This said, we should not count on Obama to do the right thing. Let’s keep contributing to HRC until her debt is paid off. I’m donated $50 this week and will continue to do so until her debt is erased.
