1. The complaint was completely ridiculous and unfounded.

2. I believe strongly in due process. We live in a great country, where a citizen with a concern — even if it’s one others judge ridiculous and unfounded — can take his concern to our government and have it investigated and acted upon. I did not want to interfere, or even appear in any way to be interfering, with that process.

3. After responding to the FEC last fall, I promptly forgot all about it (it was that ridiculous and unfounded) until I received a letter from the FEC last week with the ruling I had not violated federal election laws.

I won’t rehash the complaint here, but it is a matter of public record if anyone feels the need to know more. The Register’s Jane Norman did a pretty good job of distilling a bunch of nonsense into a summary of two charges in the complaint: that I somehow unlawfully colluded with the Obama campaign by saying positive things about the campaign on this blog, and that I had a “donate” tab on this blog by which readers could make contributions to the Obama campaign. As to the first charge, I’ll say it again: we live in a great country where free speech — yes, even that on political blogs! — is guaranteed by the First Amendment (the complainant is very much a beneficiary of that protection as well!). As to the second charge, as any reader of this blog knows, I have simply never solicited political contributions for any campaign or any candidate on this blog. I certainly have put up notices of fundraisers people can attend to support Democratic candidates (and will gladly continue doing so), but that of course is in no way a violation of federal election laws.

Oh, and I also should note the complaint was for some reason also filed against my wife (who, believe me, has little interest in this blog!) and she, not surprisingly, was completely cleared by the FEC as well. I thought the response she wrote to the complaint last December was kind of funny. Here it is:

“After reviewing the complaint, I am unclear exactly what violation of the FEC Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (”the Act”), I am alleged to have committed. I am referenced three times in the complaint. First, the complaint says I am the wife of Gordon Fischer. Second, the complaint says I was a senior aide to former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. Third, the complaint says my husband announced September 24, 2007 that he and I would be supporting Senator Barack Obama for president. While I do not dispute the veracity of any of these statements (in fact, I’m proud to say all three are completely true!), I do not think any of them indicates I have violated the Act in any way. If I misunderstand the Act or the complaint against me, please advise.”

I think he should go and just give his standard stump speech but with one condition. It has to be in one of the many languages that the the multi-lingual poseur can speak. What? According to the messiah himself he can only speak…English? How can this be? Isn’t he embarrassed to be from a country where people can only speak one language? Did he not stress that the common folk should learn Spanish? Is this so that the commoners can stand in the corner waiting to translate for the pompous, elitist little mulatto that lays claim to the throne?

If you have anything else you would like to share it would be very interesting to those of us in primary states.

The worst thing I’ve ever seen at a polling place was this lady who gave my husband flak for being an Independent in the early 90s. She gave him quite a mouthful about there was no such party, accused him of being unpatriotic, voter fraud, and playing games with an older lady. When my husband politely stated his case, the others eventually found the proper form, but she still gave him more of her thoughts the entire time we were there.

Tame stuff.

I find it pretty humorous that these “Empty Vessels”, – You know the ones. Those that kneel at the feet of their “Light-Bringer”-Love to pop in and out t of this site, always complaining that we are either Racist, Uninformed, Bitter, Old, Useless and Stupid continue to monitor what we say here.
They love to use those tired tactics- try to persuade us we are wrong. If that fails to persuade us they revert to their thuggish behavior. And when that fails to get the desired response, they revert to name calling and school yard profanities!

Obama and the pathetic ‘leadership’ cartel of the Democratic Party are embarrassing. Pelosi and Reid’s Congress just rang up a 9% approval. Yep, NINE FREAKING PERCENT. And that’s with Dubya in office.

Our party is a complete joke. And, what’s worse, we have an arrogant punk who knows nothing smirking and preening like he’s the Second Coming of Bush and who will lead us to ruin if he is nominated.

Things could not be any worse right now. Obama is running from debates, running towards meaningless speeches in front of arenas in foreign countries, etc.

BaJoke Ofraudma is destroying our party. And he is getting a lot of help.

But we will not let him destroy our nation, and once he is defeated we will take back our party and restore some of its luster that has been lost due to the Amaya Smiths, Jimbo Clyburns and Jackson, Jr’s of the world. These people are a disgrace to the legacy of MLK, to their party, to their families and to themselves.
