O bombs

How glorious.

Glow Fading?

A month after emerging victorious from the bruising Democratic nominating contest, some of Barack Obama’s glow may be fading. In the latest NEWSWEEK Poll, the Illinois senator leads Republican nominee John McCain by just 3 percentage points, 44 percent to 41 percent. The statistical dead heat is a marked change from last month’s NEWSWEEK Poll, where Obama led McCain by 15 points, 51 percent to 36 percent.

In a single month. Obama has lost 12 points to McCain.

To. John. McCain.

What’s that I hear PUMAs? I totally agree, but I told you so doesn’t translate well into cult-speak so I’m sure they wouldn’t understand.

This is something we all can understand easily. We aren’t limited to what Precious says is ok. We have the capability to experience truth individually. We don’t need anyone’s permission to think.

But for those that do there are other realities. Scary realities. Realities where “that woman” is a diversion from all things Barky. OMG!

More seriously, some Obama supporters worry that the spectacle of their candidate eagerly embracing his old rival, Hillary Clinton, and traveling the country courting big donors at lavish fund-raisers, may have done lasting damage to his image as an arbiter of a new kind of politics.

The spectacle of eagerly embracing. These supposed followers of the new politics have real issues reaching out. Which only defines how much hype this new politics bullshit really is.

What is most amusing amazing is that the Cultists attribute this to Hillary. Like it couldn’t have a thing to do with Obama’s flip flops. The guy is getting so good at flip flopping that he can actually flip flop and throw someone under the bus at the same time. And call you a racist.

I’m telling you this guy has talent.

Obama drops like a rock

Newsweek speculates that Obama’s embrace of Hillary has damaged his brand of New Politics. That did a lot less damage than Barack Obama’s series of policy reversals and gaffes over that three-week period. He has revealed himself as an empty suit and a pandering rookie, and he certainly didn’t need Hillary to point that out.

A casual reading of the polling data alone would have confirmed who is responsible for this shift away from Obama. And it isn’t Hillary.

But there is a definite momentum away from Obama, especially within the independents. June’s poll, taken only three weeks ago, had Obama ahead by 12 points, 48-36. Obama has lost a whopping 14 points among independents and now trails McCain, 34-41.

Obama now trails John McCain among Independents. It serves the misogynist friend with terrorists elitist flip flopper right.

Obama is a pandering flip flopper with no core convictions.
The American people have finally figured it out.

Why did it take so long and why were so many people stupid enough to force the best candidate out of the race.
Shame on all those that were in on the fix!!

When John McCain was courting Cindy – what exactly was Barry Obama doing?

ANSWER:
Cocaine

Let’s go back in time and talk about those “good old days” when John was courting his wife and Obama calling his drug dealer.

The LA Times is trying to smear McCain by writing a THREE PAGE story on how furious Nancy Reagan was that John divorced his first wife for Cindy.

As if NANCY should TALK. She pursued the married Ronnie and his kids were so furious they were estranged for years after he dumped his wife for Nancy.

Obama is spending a lot of time and effort on fund raising instead of being focused on issues. Of course it’s Hillary’s fault that her people are so tight fisted and just won’t give him the check. He can pander just so much until he needs to take another vacation.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-07-12 14:16:05

His problem is that he can’t focus on the issues because he can’t decide which position he is going to take on any of them.

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating…I’ll bet the DNC is sweating bullets now that they orchestrated the convention to be at the end of August (to fall on the anniversary of MLK’s I Have a Dream speech) instead of having it in July as is the tradition.

It’s gonna be a lonnnnnnng, nail-biting summer for them.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-07-12 17:26:42

I agree, it was really dumb of the Dems to move the convention that late. If it was this month, he would be getting the ‘convention bounce’ in a couple of weeks and the bounce would get his momentum AND fundraising moving in the right direction again. But I guess stupid Democrats is an oxymoron.

Also, trying to compare a politican (even a good one, much less a distinctly average one like BO) to MLK is embarrassing. BO ain’t no King and he ain’t no Mandela. It’s laughable to try and drag some guy who’s running for election into the pantheon of the truly great…it just accentuates how average he is.

Comment by Bella | 2008-07-12 19:23:17

I wonder if Obama is going to use one of Uncle Wright’s sermons as an inspiration for his convention speech like he did in 2004. *snicker*

I’m not too worried. The first poll seemed like an outlier; this one is much closer to the mean and what other polls are showing. A lead of about 3 or 4 points nationally. State polls look very good.

I do like how people tend to criticize polls around here unless they like what they say.

Comment by wac for hillary | 2008-07-12 14:14:29

So, let me get this straight. It’s Hillary’s fault that Obama is dropping like a rock in the polls. How dare she fulfill her promise to Obama to help him campaign and raise funds. If her being present with him is anyone’s fault, it’s Obama’s; he’s the one who had to have okayed her participation. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been allowed within spitting distance of the Great One.

I think the bigger problem is that when people see them together, they are starting to realize what might have been and exactly what was taken from them by the DNC elites and Obama–a person with a wealth of experience and grace replaced by an inexperienced sycophant.

Comment by csuzeq | 2008-07-12 15:04:07

Since it’s Hillary’s fault, I think she should stop campaigning for him. She was just keeping her word and clearly that is not something the dems care about anyway judging by their “presumed nominee” and his flip flops.

Yep, Hil. Just go home and plan that Independent run! Give me a call, I’d be happy to help out, campaign for you, donate money and vote for Hillary as an Indie!

Didn’t we all know Hillary and Bill would get thrown under the bus before convention time? What a nice excuse to keep her out of nomination!

A new Newsweek poll came out today and was being reported on MSNBC that Obamas lead was down to just three points over McCain 44-41. Then MSNBC reporter stated that newsweek is reporting that one reason for this is that people do not want to see Obama with Hillary Clinton therefore his poll #’s are dropping. Such arogance to actually blame Hillary for NOBAMAS FLIP PLOPPIN AZZ as being the reason his poll #’s are dropping Then the MSNBC reported asked Pat Buchanon what NAOBAMA can do to get his poll #’s back up as this must be very disturbing to the campaign. Well Pat Buchanon then said he needs to get her on the ticket as quickly as possible so that her 18 million supporters will Unite behind him.{ You Can’t Make This Stuff Up} LMAO! Now on MSNBC’S ticker suddenly there is a report that the LA Times is reporting that a high ranking Obama Donor told LA Times that Hillary Clinton is being considered as the VP.{You Just Can’t Make This Stuff Up Folks} They need to know how we feel about NOBAMA getting our support even if he selects Hillary Clinton. I personally wrote Newsweeks magazine and told them I will not support any ticket that does not have Hillary on the top as like Ted Strickland and Jim Webb I refuse to let NOBAMA use her to get elected and destroy her credibility! NO OBAMA PERIOD! Here’s my letter to Newsweek!

I understand your subscription’s are down big time. I imagine that as a desperate attempt to regain some respect for your lousy job reporting and many lies in the political world . Your Newsweek poll today as reported on your lousy sister company MSNBC, is falling in line with the actual polls that have been reported in every respected national election poll but Newsweeks. Unfortunately the report about the chosen one losing his large lead in the polls because of his joint appearances with Senator Hillary Clinton are as usual false. I am writing here to tell you that report by your crack reporting team, is exactly the reason your magazine sales are dropping, and MSNBS viewer’s are leaving for honest news sources such as Fox News. The American public is not stupid and they are very well aware of how all of NBC News outlets are failing badly! Your failed attacks on Hillary Clinton and failure to seriously { VET} Barrack Obama, and report his Shady at best background and “Curropt” associations in Chicago politics has caused the democratic party and your “BIAS” and “Misogynistic” crack news team at NBC, to lose Million’s of viewer’s and readers. We are the millions of blue collar, hard working, “Core” of men and women, that used to be so valued by the democratic party, and we where disregarded by the media and the Democratic party. We are effectively working together as a coalition of American voter’s that believe democracy has left this election season and we are being left with the choice of electing a “Selected” inexperienced, curropt and unelectable candidate, whom has flip flopped on many of his own promises to his own supporters, including voting for the FISA wiretapping vote which violates our right’s as American citizens and in fact is an intrusion of our very own privacy. This is just one of many flip flops that where anticipated by the core democrats that believes Obama was, and remains unelectable. Yet the person you criticize still today, a remarkable women who is a former First Lady of the United States, and a Senator that has captured the heart’s and souls of so many Americans, and made history herself this primary season by getting a record {18 million votes}.This senator was elected not selected , and we will never vote for the selected candidate. Please discontinue trying to pursue Hillary Clinton as Obamas Vice President as he is less qualified than her, and we will not vote for that ticket. We feel the same way that Ted Strickland and Jim Webb do, that we will not see her credibility ruined by Barrack Obama’s bad politics! It is sad to see a once very respected magazine{ NewsWeek } and news source {NBC] Ruined by a man that seems to have a pattern of using anyone, and anything in his attempts to continue to lie to the American public and then he tosses those same people under his bus as he no longer needs their service. Lastly let me not forget to mention that Keith Oberman and Chris Matthews bad behavior during this years election season has deeply disturbed many Americans and EX, NBC loyal viewers!

My question has always been, Obama has the fundraising advantages, media advantages, McCain not attacking him hard on any issue and he has the “change movement” yet he cannot lead in all polls by any substantial margin. Why isn’t Obama up 10%-15%across the board?
Hes put ads in 18 states to McCain 1. PUMA is having a REAL affect on his candidacy. Now the pollster have been bias and hiding numbers, polling more Dems than Republicans and less Independents who are now the MAJORITY;also Zogby (Obama super delegate) slant polls for Obama on the regular and even he can’t get Obama over 5%. The O camp wants to believe that if not for HRC, he’s be doing better.
That’s extremely doubtful.
He’d be looking even worse right now if there was no Hillary Clinton to blame.
Then, they’d have to fess up to the fact that people are rejecting him because of who he is.
Most of us also feel grateful that HRC is standing ready to be a more than viable alternative, but to think he’d be fine if she would just go away is delusional wishful thinking.

OT: Taliban resurgence in Afganistan is growing as expected months ago and military commanders in Afganistan hoped for more US contributions, but the forces are too extended with the surge in Iraq. Thus NATO forces are needed to aid against the growing surge in Taliban activities.

Too bad Mr. Right Judgement still clings to his Chairmanship on the Oversight Commitee on NATO instead of passing it off to someone who could actually do some work on the commitee to aid the toops there fighting!

But Obama will take the time to travel around the world to give the illusion he is good at foreign relations meanwhile troops will die from his not holding a single hearing on a commitee he is paid as a US Senator for doing to give reasoning and justification to NATO allies to send in more troops like a real leader should do.

Is it true that Obama father is Arab Afican which makes Obama by US standards not an AA

Comment by Augustus | 2008-07-12 14:41:34

that is true, he is 50% white from his mother’s side and his father is of mixed races primarily semitic (arab) with some negroid. Obama ends up only 8% negroid and federal regulations consider 12.5% of a geneology to qulaify for that identification.

Comment by Zee | 2008-07-12 15:43:26

The man who wrote that up has yet to show his sources…plus he made a bone-headed comment about Obama’s father being the last generation to be able to “honestly” call himself “AA” — which is ridiculous because NO Kenyan can call himself American…Kenyan is Kenyan and American is American. DUH.

So I would wait for some serious sources on Obama’s make-up. He could be called 50% AA, because he’s an American with an AFRICAN father.

I do think he should own up to his Arabic roots, tho, whatever percentage they are. That would be a better tack to take.

Comment by freddie mac | 2008-07-12 16:15:33

African American is used as a legal classification to describe one particular race of Africans. Africans are composed several races. Otherwise we could have had the US born all white blonde blue-eyed off spring of Afrikaaners who would thereby be US citizens claim protected status under affirmative action programs for being of African American descent.

“In a single month Obama has lost 12 points to McCain”?

Bullshit. That original Newsweek poll was totally bogus. The two polls people need to watch are the Gallup and the Rasmussen daily and weekly tracking polls. These guys do polling full time and they don’t have political axe to grind like Newsweek or the Washington Post. They have consistently shown Obama with a 2-4 point lead.

But the fact that 85% of those still claiming to be undecided are lower-middle and middle-class whites should be of great concern to Obama. He has not done well at all with this demographic group.

agreed. What would she have to gain by being vp? She’d have to support O (a la Humphrey vis. LBJ) no matter what awful policies he launches.

The following is reportedly the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term.

The definition sought was for the term: Political Correctness

The winner wrote:

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

He is 100% correct. I tried to research on that and those republicons have actually traced the links of Barry with the extreme socialists working subtlely with the Democratic Party.

Obama, for me, is the Real Manchurian Candidate of the Far Left wishing to control Democratic Party as . They have this so-called “fusion” strategy where these small third parties would dominate a host party.

Sanders and Howard Dean, are just your regular liberal democrats but actually parties to the crime against Hillary.

What’s so hilarious is that BaLoser is thinking he will hold onto the nutroots while he moves to the center and yet what is happening is that he is bleeding support in his wake and not picking up any new backers, either.

Obama’s not only a liar, he’s a coward.

On several occasions, Obama challenged McCain to debate foreign policy and the war, “anywhere, any time”. Here’s a clip showing one such challenge from May:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMGgyPm9kh4&eurl=http://hotair.com/archives/2008/07/12/a-commander-in-chief-who-fears-the-military-vero-possumus/?print=1

But now we see that Barack Obama is a COWARD. He wants to play-act as a leader; he likes to pose as a Commander-in-Chief. But he is afraid of the military.

July 12, 2008 New York Times
Obama Won’t Commit to Event at Military Base
By KATE ZERNIKE

A coalition of military groups is planning a nationally televised town-hall-style meeting with the presidential candidates near Fort Hood, Tex., the largest active-duty military installation in the country. But so far, only Senator John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican nominee, has agreed to attend.

CBS has agreed to broadcast the meeting live from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Aug. 11. The candidates would face questions directly from an audience of 6,000 people, made up of veterans, service members and military families from the base.

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has not agreed to participate.

[...]

Carissa Picard, managing director of the Fort Hood Presidential Town Hall Consortium, said she had suggested Aug. 11 and asked the campaign to suggest other dates if that was not convenient, but after several conversations she had not been able to work anything out.

“I’m having extreme difficulty getting the Obama campaign to commit to this event, and we do not understand why,” said Ms. Picard, whose husband is deployed in Iraq. “We made it very clear to them that if they would commit to the event, we would work with them on dates.”

The organizers released details about the event in hopes that it would pressure the Obama campaign to agree to the event.

“This was a decision that was made with tremendous difficulty, to publicize it,” Ms. Picard said. “We were at a point where we had no other option. We got the impression that they could talk us to November.”

Comment by May | 2008-07-12 15:40:56

This is ridiculous.

How can this be happening?

Someone should start a ‘No Debate’ time clock and have it count up every second, hour, and day the Obama campaign goes without a debate.

Does anyone know the last date that Obama debated Hillary? How long has it been since then?

Comment by HARP | 2008-07-12 15:46:47

Time clock… great idea. Are you listening Larry?

Comment by street_parade | 2008-07-12 17:47:06

I think it was either April 16 or 17 and she kicked his a@#. After that she offered to debate him anytime, anywhere and even offered a Lincoln/Douglas style debate with no moderator – they would ask each other questions. BO said nope. Then McCain offered 10 townhall style meetings, also with no big media moderators. They would take questions from their audience. BO offered to do one on July 4th (when no one would be around to watch it).

Comment by thetownecrier | 2008-07-12 17:55:35

Obama has refused to attend, and his campaign won’t even suggest a date that is not in conflict with their schedule, according to organizers.

This is the same Barack Obama who arrogantly said he would meet John McCain “anytime, anywhere” to debate Foreign Policy.

Obama to sponsor a race car? Why not, he has promoted the race card already.

Start Your Engines

Apparently Obama is going NASCAR.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Obama campaign is planning to sponsor a car in the August Pocono race.

Here are some details from the article at SportsIllustrated.com:

A BAM spokesperson has revealed the team will hold a press conference July 23 in Miami to reveal the partnership, currently a proposed one-race deal with an option to continue. Obama will be at the briefing, which will be tied to the “Get Out The Vote” campaign message he spread throughout the 2008 primary season.

Racing sources claim one of the options being considered would allow individual campaign donors to get their name on the race car for as little as $100

.

Obama supporters really are whiners. Can’t they get over it? Move on Obama supporters! Everyone else has. I don’t think they understand that. That moving on can have a different destination than the underside of Obama’s bus.

But they made sure to tow the party line for Howard Disinfranchizement Dean and claim Former Hillary supporters who wont vote for obama are non existant.

I can’t wait for all the moaning and crying from the MSM about how they just can’t explain Obama losing in november.

God, the day i never have to read Obullshit’s name again every time i go to a news sight can’t come soon enough.

Sorry. I won’t just say no to anything or anybody.

People here are totally fixated on their dislike for Obama. The entire campaign process seems to be revolving around a fixation on personalities. McCain said this today. Obama screwed up by saying that. Obama’s minister is whatever-the-hell-he-is. The election news coverage is like an elevated version of an American Idol personality gossip program.

None of this crap matters.
There are actual issues. There’s a republican agenda, and a democratic agenda. They’re painted in broad strokes, but they’re clearly very different things. I’m deciding in November between those two pictures of what America is supposed to be. McCain just happens to be the guy in one of them, and Obama just happens to be the guy in the other.

Nothing is Hillary’s fault.

But how is Hillary going to feel later, thinking how some of her own supporters put John McCain in office?

And how will PUMA Democrats feel? They might feel pretty good right after the election, thinking how they dumped Obama. But how will they feel a year into his presidency? Or two years? Or four?

Some may be denying those four years even matter. As if they were just some blank period of time to get through until 2012.

Not so. Those four years might be the most critical period of time in our history. If we don’t make some basic course changes now, we may not get a chance to do so later.

That’s not hyperbole. There are some enormous problems out there, long ignored, that are very rapidly catching up with us. We don’t have four more years to wait.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn AmeriKKKa Wright | 2008-07-12 16:39:21

you forgot to mention our vaginas. You know the talking point about OMG if you don’t elect BHO they will lock up your right to control your vagina…they will repeal Roe V Wade…they will kill all the whales…they will make woman wear clogs!!!

Sigh. The Liberal Leftists…everyone but them is bad…yawn at infantile understanding of politics and process.

With a democratic House and Senate, McCain won’t be able to do anything. And please stop demonizing everyone but your candidate. Its not black or white. Republicans love american just as much as liberals…actually more. You don’t see john McCain associating with domestic terrorists.

Comment by Indiana Dem | 2008-07-12 16:59:55

I suppose that depends upon whether one considers George W. Bush to be a domestic terrorist or not.

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-07-12 17:37:27

You mean like Obama’s friend Bill Ayres (who definitely is a terrorist by his own admission)?

Comment by Indiana Dem | 2008-07-12 17:53:47

I presume you realize that Obama was only around 7 years old back when Bill Ayres was an anti-war radical. Obama knows him as a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Education.

Sometimes people have histories.

Did you know that one of John McCain’s current closest personal friends is G. Gordon Liddy? They go back years.

So what? you say.

Yes. So what? That’s exactly my point.

Unlike you obamafools i actually know your fraudulant incompetants history.

I also know all about the Ayers political godfathering done for barack obama, the connection between his wide and ayers wife and how bill ayers helped obama become the politician he is today.

The bombs may have been planted when Barry was 7, but all the political hand holding happened with barry and billy over the past 18 years.

If you are going to support a candidate atleast have the intelligence to know what you are supporting.

Seriously you are an embarrassment to the voting rights if you dont know what you are talking about and who you are voting for.

There is a lot more to barry ocrackhead than just the hopium and changejuana he is peddling at your local corner stadium event.

I respect John McCain more than I respect Obama. So what does that tell you?

Comment by Indiana Dem | 2008-07-12 18:29:36

It tells me that you probably don’t know everything there is to know about John McCain.

You probably don’t know that his wife’s personal fortune can be traced back through her father, James Hensley, to organized crime.

Or that up until his death Hensley was one of McCain’s largest campaign contributors.

Maybe you don’t know about McCain’s 2001 Reform Insititute, established as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros. Or about the $200,000 in contributions solicited through that organization from a subsidiary of the Cablevision Systems Corporation. McCain, then chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, wrote a letter to the FCC supporting Cablevision’s desire to continue packaging customer TV programming in a manner more profitable to Cablevision. You can draw your own conclusions about whether that was a $200,000 letter or not.

That isn’t ancient history, like the Keating scandal.

McCain still has more lobbiests involved in his campaign than you can shake a stick at, in spite of having severed ties with 6 just this past May when their worrisomely close ties to foreign companies and foreign regimes came to light.

And how will PUMA Democrats feel? They might feel pretty good right after the election, thinking how they dumped Obama. But how will they feel a year into his presidency? Or two years? Or four?

If you’re as smart as you appear to think you are, you’ll knock off the manipulative guilt trip crap.

Your comments remind me of some of my extremely religious family members who slide one index finger across the other at a person while trying to shame someone to manipulate their thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs around to their view. Pffftt!!!

Not very wise to go this route with those who think for themselves and adamantly rebel against being controlled. It’s belittling and demeaning and I for one don’t appreciate it.

I will decide WHO gets my vote and WHY.

Comment by Indiana Dem | 2008-07-12 19:11:32

Nah, that’s not my intention at all.

I want everybody to think for themselves. I want everyone to be unmanipulated.

There are a great many negative things posted around here about Barack Obama. At least 95% of such posts have no factual content. They’re not even logical arguments. They’re just endlessly repeated expressions of a negative mind set.

That is the very essence of manipulation.

When factual criticisms are made, I become very attentive. I sure as hell poured over all the discussion about Obama and FISA. I also gave much thought to the known facts of the Rizo matter. That sort of discussion means something.

I wouldn care about it, if the only issue were Barack Obama. But it isn’t. The big issue is whether or not the republicans continue to call the shots. It’s not enough just to have a democratic Congress that is theoretically capable of keeping John McCain from staying too far out of line, because just maintaining the status quo is perfectly acceptable to the republican agenda. They’ve had 12 years to program in the course. It doesn’t matter if we change captains if we can’t shut off or override the damn auto-pilot.

What significant change from Bush policy has McCain mentioned? If he’s stated something, I haven’t heard about it yet.

You’re estimation of me is a bit off target. I’m a born skeptic. I distrust all authoritarian pronouncements. I know a politician when I see one, and I know I’m looking at one when I see Obama. All politicians say and do things I distrust and dislike. He’s no exception.

Yes, koolaid drinkers.

It’s time to start preparing for your next liberal unelectable Fraud. Maybe you should nominate Kerry again.

I hear he has already been vetted.

Comment by Indiana Dem | 2008-07-12 17:15:04

The country rejected Al Gore for George W. Bush. We would have been far better off with Al.

The country rejected John Kerry for George W. Bush. We would have been far better off with John.

And now we’ve got a choice between Barack Obama and John McCain.

In each case, it’s been something about personality. Something about perception of character. Apparently we’re fine judges of that. After all, just look at the obvious integrity of George W. Bush.

This really might one of those third strike and you’re out scenarios.

Comment by meileen | 2008-07-12 17:32:46

See, here’s the deal. We can still get the candidate that can win on the ticket in November if the party holds a legitimate convention. We are still hoping for that.

If not, and we’re stuck with Obama, then get ready to salute President McCain because Obama WILL NOT WIN.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-12 17:45:24

I must say, we’re not all on the same page here. There isn’t any way Hillary will be the nominee in my mind.

But I strongly support the principle that a rollcall vote is in order.

I’m ready and willing and have done my part to make sure that is understood.

It’s about respect.

I value that.

It’s all about respect.

My gal lost, but she lost by such a smidge that I want her to be honored and given her due.

I disdain this current rhetoric fad about how we have to hide this truth or that truth because the boogie man Republicans will take over.

The way I view it, they took over.

When I see Democrats, or supposed Democrats, trashing the Clintons?

Sorry, but that’s the Republican aftermath.

No getting around it.

I couldn’t care less about Bill’s legacy. That will shake out, and he’ll go down as the greatest Democrat in our lifetime, no questions asked.

Right now? The Republican trashing years ago killed the best candidate. They did win, guys.

*deep breath*

Not even the popularity polls could stem the tide of Independents this year, raised by Republican parent, who were obsessed with sex and Bill. They hit the “scene” with their prejudices, and we were eaten up from the inside.

I look back, and today I am philosophical. To be expected.

Look at last year’s biggest story. The poor schmuck from a western state who is on the down-low gets caught in a toliet. That’s the pruient nature of our politics.

Hillary IS fabulous. So is Bill. But she could NOT overcome the prick factor.

Now, I come from a different generation than today. I struggled in corporate America.

My buddies and I decided the best “gift” to produce would be a gold penis. We would give it our girlfriends in corporate, and it would be used to pull out in tough meetings, set it on the table, and say,

“Boyz, I’ve got one, too.”

LOL*

Hillary did lose to sexism. The issue was way too complex to overcome.

Go look at the so-called progressive blogs. They are still silly neighborhood women posts there, touting how she should have “divorced him.”

Good grief.

Like people make personal deep decisions based on popularity polls.

Anyway, I’m at ease with this loss. I don’t think Hillary even should be nominated at this stage. Right or wrong……it’s over.

But I would like to see respect.

This candidacy is a caricature of embarrassment to every professional AA I have ever known.

I’m Italian. If we had an Italian presidential candidate who wore a black shirt and white tie every day and was surrounded by thugs with their hand inside the lapel of their jackets, I would be embarrassed for my roots. If they played the theme of the Godfather at a victory party, I would be embarrassed. This is not who Italians are. This is the caracature of the extreme and the lowest of perceptions. If he told everybody he LOVES the Sopranos, I would be embarrassed. This is because I understand when my own people would be embarrassing me, why does the AA community not see when they are embarrassing themselves and everybody around them by playing “99 Problems and a Bitch is Not One of Them” in a primary with a woman? Why would a candidate want to appear to be the lowest common denominator of his own roots? Why would he want to encourage calling women Hos and give a speech during which he mimics a rap song and embarrass America? Why would he want to publically make Sexuality remarks to emphasize his virility (aka vibrating cell phone). This is a man who wants to be the Leader of the Free World! How do you think these things are perceived?????? Why is the entire professional AA community NOT embarrassed? I am not being snide here! I am REALLY serious!

Comment by Patti | 2008-07-13 11:55:30

The deliberate use of rubbing his middle finger up and down his cheek as response to Hillary was very personal. When I saw that I didn’t automaically think as conditioned: Fuck you. No, what I saw and felt was a candidate running for president making a crude gesture to another democratic candidate – and it came across as insertion – like here, let me stick this somewhere. It was the first time in a very long time that I realized what the symbolic gesture means and I cringed. Coming from Philly, let me tell you any guy that does that to a woman in front of another guy would get his face smashed in immediately and would be digging in his ass to get that finger back if his arm was long enough.
