Women Get Crapped On; Obama Laughs Along
By Ani on July 14, 2008 at 5:52 AM in Barack Obama, Bernie Mac Scandal, Bill Clinton, Current Affairs, Hillary Clinton
Why it is acceptable that Bernie Mac, a man old enough to know better, stands before an audience at a $2,300 a plate dinner and tells them that, for the right price, any woman, your wife, your sister, your daughter, can be a “ho”. Please tell me why that is funny?
Please tell me why it is funny that a menopausal woman, the comedian’s wife no less, is referred to as frigid.
Please tell me why said comedian intimates the only thing a woman is good for is picking up the kids, washing the dishes and cleaning the house.
Please tell me what it says to you that a man running to be President of the United States, who himself has a wife and two daughters, goes onstage to calm down the crowd and admonish said comedian, albeit very flaccidly, then tells Bernie Mac in the next breath, “I’m just messin’ with you, man.”
Senator Obama, when you are going to find a spine and stand up to this sort of misogyny and sexist, objectifying, insecure crap?
How much longer are women going to be subjected to this filthy, denigrating behavior?
Never mind. I just answered my own question.
But Bernie Mac is not alone in treating women this way. Women are comedians’ favorite fodder. As a society we are used to it and even laugh along. Female comedians laugh at men too – but what roles do we perpetuate for them? ‘My hubby never grew up he is still Peter Pan’ nonsense. They cannot see in three dimensions. They are sloppy. They don’t listen. They need to watch the ballgame.
How does that compare with the male version of this diatribe? Terrified of being left, cuckolded or criticized by women, male comics mount a preemptive offensive one cannot fight against: You’re not pretty enough. You talk too much. You don’t suck my dick enough. You’re a gold digger. You are old. You are fat. You are boring. Other women don’t like you. You don’t like each other.
Divide and conquer.
Bill Maher is a perfect case in point. I find that Bill Maher looks like an aardvark, but it is still acceptable for him to criticize a woman’s appearance or attractiveness. He delivers sexist rants on his HBO show, putting women down, calling them filthy names; not to mention flirting with the ‘more attractive ones’, objectifying them, thereby distracting from the message and qualifications of his female guests.
Dana Carvey currently has a new HBO special, most of it hilarious. Of course, he had to do the obligatory political riff. He made fun of just about everyone: Reagan, Bush I & II, Gore. He pretended to take a swipe at Obama, calling him Urkel, but was otherwise almost reverential. Was this a comedy hour or an award ceremony? It was as though he was actually afraid to say anything else. Why Dana – was someone going to call you a racist?
Dana was performing in Northern California, clearly Obama country, and the audience sat silently through his comments about Obama, protective, waiting. So after the Urkel snark, he raced off the subject.
The Clintons however, were not so lucky. Of course, we had to hear from Dana how Hillary’s delivery is so robotic. This is to be expected. Naturally in this country, we prefer style over substance. Never mind that the person he was referring to no longer exists and has been replaced by a much more self assured politician, comfortable connecting with audiences out on the campaign trail. Dana, don’t let that stop you.
Unavoidably, we were, ten years after the fact, subjected once again to Bill Clinton’s sexual indiscretion.
But here is my favorite part. Dana Carvey then sh*t on his own wife, his kids and all women when he basically said, ‘Well, look at Hillary. Can you blame Bill for what he did?’
The audience laughed.
I see. So since Hillary Clinton does not resemble Angelina Jolie, she should expect this kind of treatment? Should all women expect it, too?
Senator Clinton was running to be President, not to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. And having stood next to Senator Clinton, I can tell you that she is a very attractive lady. Dana Carvey knows this, but he got his cheap laugh at her expense so he could then move on; satisfied. I wonder if Dana’s wife is pear shaped, too, and took offense at his filthy swipe at another woman?
Do you think any women in the audience, aged 60 or otherwise, who also might not look like swimsuit models, took offense? Or did they just laugh along, to protect themselves from being beat up like Hillary has been?
Recently, after Senator Obama’s relationship with the Rev. Wright was reluctantly revealed by the media, the cretinous Chris Matthews and none other than the bullying Chris Hitchens, among others, floated the theory that Obama’s relationship with this divisive, racist Reverend is Michelle’s fault. It must be her influence.
Well, forgive me, but if a 46 year old United States Senator, millionaire, best selling author, husband and father cannot pick up his round behind and leave a place he doesn’t want to be, regardless of what his wife is doing, then he has no spine – and no business running for the office of President of the United States.
In Obama’s constant need to people please his current audience and curry favor with whomever he considers the most important person in the room – in this case, Bernie Mac – it was perfectly acceptable to give this behavior a nod and a wink.
Bernie Mac happens to be a gifted comedian. Are you really trying to tell me that at this kind of a venue, he could not find other material that doesn’t extol the idea that women are low and deserving of abuse and ridicule?
While I do not wish to be hamstrung by political correctness, there is a time and a place for everything. Frankly Senator Obama, Mr. Hopey Changey, has to stop running on the message that he represents ‘a new kind of politics’ and wants to ‘change the world,’ when it is obviously okey-doke with him to treat women as second class citizens.
Actions speak louder than words. Corrections by his staff after the fact will not smooth over his numerous gaffes and insensitivities. But then, you can’t know what you don’t know. If Senator Obama really cared about any of this, misogynist commentary would not get a pass in the first place.
His disrespectful behavior on the campaign trail, his sexist put downs of Hillary and the fact that he pays the women on his staff less than the men indicates very clearly that he has no problem with anything Bernie Mac did or said. It looks as though Senator Obama has no problem with anyone being put down as long as he is elevated by comparison.
This is not the kind of behavior I expect from any decent man, much less a Presidential candidate. Senator Obama needs to take this new kind of politics back to the playground, where it belongs.

The misogyny alone is ample reason to make sure Obama never gets near the White House.

The Barack Obama Flip Flop Express goes viral
Watch here.
Yes, Bernie Mac was misogynist, but I didn’t see the same outrage when it was reported that your favorite candidate called his wife an even worse word.
Where is your outrage about McCain’s misogyny and his many anti-women policy positions?
What a pathetic attempt to turn the subject around. But, but, someone else did it too? Jeebus, that didn’t work with my mother when I was six years old.
MISOGONY is wrong! Got that? Whenever and wherever it happens. This was at a Democratic fundraiser where Bernie Mac said something that should be inexcusable to anyone calling them-self a progressive/liberal/Democrat.
Instead the best you can do is but, but McCain is said to have said something nasty to/or about his wife.
At least the tagname is right.
I am not a McCain apologist and know that his positions on women’s rights are dismal. However, the particular event that seems to be surfacing here is an old rumor revived recently by Cliff Schecter, a liberal political strategist and regular contributor to Huffington Post - not exactly a friend of McCain’s.
Schecter has released a book called THE REAL MCCAIN in which he claims three reporters and two staffers of McCain witnessed McCain call his wife the c-word in 1992.
Oddly, the three reporters - after 16 years - are still ANONYMOUS. Reporters? Three of them? Reporters who will sell their mothers for a headline but not one of these three have written the story?
Did I say ANONYMOUS reporters?
The two staffers, Wes Gullet and Doug Cole, have always denied the story.
There’s plenty to smack McCain around with relating to his poor record on women’s issues without re-circulating what has been pretty much discounted as a lie - or at least an unproved accusation.
I’m not an apologist for McCain either. Glad you have some background on the rumor that’s been batted around left blogostan for years.
For me it doesn’t matter what the hell he did in regards to what happened at the Obama fundraiser.
What Bernie Mac said was wrong and Obama was wrong for not saying so loud and clear.
As I said above, the but he did it first or worse or whatever is an argument for the little kiddies. Adults, not so much.
And as for the McCain rumor, prove it or STFU about it.
There is some doubt as to whether McCain ever said that.
Re: Bernie Mac’s joke, I don’t think he meant his wife is frigid. I’m always turning the thermostat down because I’m too warm. Then I find my husband and son curled up on the couch under blankets, in July.
I’m not defending Bernie Mac’s routine. It had no place at a political fundraiser, but I think the menopause joke wasn’t meant to degrade his wife.
Why don’t we compromise then and say it was a double entendre — believe me - he his both points, always cold and always cold.
Why don’tr we compromise then and say Bernie’s comment was a double entendre. Believe me, he hit both his points — she is always cold and she is always cold.
That’s all they have. The campaign has no answer so the trolls got nothing. Do you notice that they apparently get the weekend off? And people say they aren’t paid …. hahahahaha
Our favorite candidate is Hillary and she doesn’t have a wife, idiot.
That’s right! Although she does have a very attractive husband.
deflect, distract, disparage
wasn’t aware this was a mccain or die site, many here are going 3rd party, sitting out, some are going for mccain, and what he said sure as hell wasn’t at a fund raiser
No, he didn’t say it at a fundraiser. He said it directly to his wife
in front of reporters.
That makes it better?
Whether you are complete hypocrites and vote for McCain or (like Larry Johnson probably vote for) Barr (he lead impeachment against Bill Clinton) or hold on to a tendril of being progressive and vote Green or for Nader, the end result will be McCain as president.
And that will be far worse for women and everyone than a misogynist comments at a fundraiser. As bad as those are, they aren’t as bad as the judges who will be appointed by McCain, the people McCain will appoint to his cabinet and other positions in government, the compromises that will have to be made to get potentially progressive laws through to avoid a veto…
I could go on.
I am not voting for a racist American hater just because McCain is pro life. The President does not get to make all the rules. Anything he would want would have to pass Congress. If far right bible beating Bush didn’t even attempt to overturn womens rights McCain who is more center certainly won’t. I don’t agree w Hillary on every single issue, but almost all. It seems the prevailing argument is to try to “scare” women w revoking the right to terminate their pregnancy. Guess what? Find another talking point, it isn’t working. I guess you have that mindset too thinking women are just a bunch of pansys. Aren’t you and many others in for a very rude awakening.
Obama is not a racist America hater.
I know it would be hard to realize that if you read this site regularly.
And yes, I am scared of what will happen if McCain is president on many issues. If he becomes president, we are all in for a tragic rude awakening.
McCain will get bad laws through congress because the Democrats will cave just like they did on FISA (and yes, Obama was wrong to vote for it, but McCain would have if he had bothered to show up). And good laws will be weakened or not even passed because of a McCain veto threat.
The democrats will cave. Funny, you and I agree on that. what have the democrats done for us since they’ve controlled congress? Passed a stinking minimum wage bill. Whoopie!!!! They are a bunch of losers and this party needs an overhaul! This is exactly why I will not vote a wussy democrat president who has a whimpy congress and would do whatever Mr. Rockstar asks of them, no matter how senseless or dangerous for America. The last thing I’ll go along with is Obama, someone who hates everyone, but himself, thinks he is God himslef and someone who hates America and watch him risk my country and be stupid and never be held accountable by anyone as he has had this free ride through all of this year! No thank you! I’ll pass on this nothing man. If you want to give me Clinton, who I know will have some guts and America’s best interests and will be held accountable for her actions and would not risk this beautiful countries freedoms, count me in. Give me Edwards even. give me some sort of decent democrat (if there are any other than Hillary) and I’ll vote for that democrat, otherwise it has to be McCain for me. The war hero over the zero. Always. I’ll never vote for a zero candidate from any political party so this year, Hillary or McCain ‘08, because sadly the only choices as of today are not ideal.
Bingo! I wouldn’t be so mad about this Democratic Party if it were over merely a candidacy. My secret is that I think we overblow the importance of the president, anyway. It drains us of political energy, and the poor sucker has less power than people realize.
I’m frankly not willing to go along any longer with the notion that the Republicans are evil and that’s why the Democrats are ineffectual.
No, they are just ineffectual.
The states are raising minimum wages faster than the Feds, for God’s sakes.
And they want me to buy into the idea that they will pass an Equal Pay law. *hooting*
They couldn’t muster up a vote against FISA?
This gang of idiots has one thing in common: They are not good politicians or good at their jobs.
They need to go.
The way the majority of Democratic leaders in DC have either kissed obama’s ring or prostrated themselves to do him Him homage, I am convinced that if obama gets in the Whitehouse there won’t be one person in congress with the courage to stand up for the people. Obama will be the ruler and we will be his subjects.
Obama and the DNC have given me many reasons to be paranoid!
You forgot some of the other talking points, but managed to get the Supreme Court in there quickly. Good job commandant!
You talk.
I hear: blah, blah, blah, blah
Let me do my best Obama supporter immitation. Link? Video? Audio? Any proof anywhere that McCain said this other than unsubstantiated rumor?
Give it a frakin rest already!
Your fear tactics will not work on FREE THINKING, INTELLIGENT, INDEPENDENT, INFORMED, Americans!
This lame attempt to paint McCain as the same as Obama is not only idiotic but sad!
I am not a supporter of McCain. I do not know how I will vote in November but I do have this to say in his defense…..
One….McCain HAS served his country honorably. I do not call him a HEROE because he was shot down! That distinction is reserved for those that truly deserve it. Like those that have given their lives for this country!
But…McCain at the very least served his country in and out of uniform.
Two…Who among us has never uttered a nasty remark to our better halves? It is not right, but WE ALL do it!
Three….
Obama HAS NEVER served his country! The only service he can point to is to himself! If you go looking for any of the so-called people he supposedly helped here in Chicago, you will come up empty! This is something the MEDIA has NOT reported! There is no record of significance that this man can hang his hat on. Even his own peers..( Democratic ) in the Illinois Senate, NEVER liked or trusted him. He was and is a POLITICAL COWARD!
Look at his Illinois Senate records and you will see that he missed more votes than most. Also…where are his Illinois Senate records? They mysteriously disappeared!
I do not know you nor do I care to but, before you open your mouth and insert foot….DO SOME RESEARCH! You MAY see your Messiah in a different light once you purge your system of the potent Kool-Aid he peddles!
OOps….
I meant to say….” Lame attempt to paint McCain as worse than…not SAME as..
My Bad!
I don’t call McCain a hero because he was shot down. But I do call him one because he could have come home when offered and he chose to stay.
Excellent point. I agree.
See above post: two witnesses denied it, three people who cannot be named and verified claim that it happened (so it can’t be verified), and if it did happen it was once, sixteen (16, or 4 election cycles) ago. Get a grip. This is the worst you can say? Cindy doesn’t need Mac; if she doesn’t like the treatment, she can go.
hypocrisy — Obama hates strong women. He said about Michelle — if she was the only woman I had ever met I would hate women. If you could get over your Obama’s worship for 5 minutes you would see there is no Obama at all. Just a skid mark which was left after he did his last right turn.
Clearly, you did not read the post from LindaA1 above, there is NO PROOF THAT MCCAIN EVER SAID WHAT YOU ARE ACCUSING HIM OF.
Go and read Linda’s post for the detail and stop making yourself look like an idiot. There maybe plenty of things to accuse McCain of…but the one thing you guys always come up with ain’t one of them. Back to the mothership for instructions with you.
Amen Kevin! We must NEVER let these pigs get away with changing the subject again on this board. Make em OWN THEIR SHITTY CANDIDATE!
If misogony was 0buma’s only fault, your argument would still be lame. Two parties acting like 14 year old juviniles does not absolve YOUR candidate.
But as we all know misogony is just the tip of the iceberg with Barry.
How bout that wonderful principled stand on FISA.
It must make you real proud to know how transformational Barry really is.
Keep the change!
And he’s too old for that hip-hop rap crap.
Two wrongs never make a right.
Ever heard that expression? McCain is responsible for what he has done and Obama is responsible for what he has done.
And since the Right candidate isn’t being allowed to participate in The Game of Politics, we’ll all have to choose one of two Wrongs.
Ever heard of 2 wrongs don’t make a right??
And McCain is not our favorite candidate…that would be Hillary Clinton.
Demcrats who are voting for Mccain are not doing it because they agree with him ideologically but because he is the lesser evil. AND to send a message to the dnc that we are not sheep to be send where ever you want us to go. If you ignore our votes, steal or manipulate the outcome of an election we call it quit. I hope you get it and stop bring that up again
ownaa — I am voting for McCain (the first Republican I have ever voted for) because the problems we face are too big to leave to an amateur. We need a 20 year Senator who can work with Congress — we need a man versed in Foreign Policy to keep us from starting WW3. I refuse to knock McCain because he is the only thing that stands between us and this would be dictator who is oh so careful not to define himself.
hypocrasy you are such a hypocrite. As IF you give a shit about misogyny. In fact, John McCain will have to say that word a couple of hundred more times to catch up to your pig candidate and his pig followers. I’ll just bet that you wrote one of these messages I collected off this board.
Or how about this?
Or maybe…
Now go Fuck Yourself, Pig. John McCain is a saint next to your Pig and you pig followers.
You really don’t know anything about me. I’m a feminist
and have fought against misogyny for decades.
I’ve never used those words.
Those guys were stupid assholes.
OH yeah you’re a feminist. And I’m JFK.
Listen, I have spent enough time in corporate America to recognize A Holes like you. You aren’t even good at Pretending.
At least the closet pigs I have known can fake it effectively. You are doing a lousy job of it. So cut the crap.
Let me tell you something. If you were a feminist you wouldn’t be supporting Barack Obama. And if you were a feminist you wouldn’t be making the cracks you are making here. If you were a feminist we would already have noticed.
Fess Up! You are a pig just like your Messiah.
OH SNAP!!!!!!
You are in a rare form today Uppity!
I LOVE IT!!! Go get em Girl! I just love it when you ROAR!
You go, Uppity! Tell those Messiah followers where to shove it…I love when they crumble after you’re finished with them!!
Uppity Woman did you know there was a uppitywoman08???
I had a certain person pop into my head when I read your posts hypocrisy. And if I am right..then you are a feminist. I am 100% sure that hypocrisy never wrote those words.
This feels like something like what Taylor Marsh would write. I wonder if Taylor has got someone else to post this??
Hillary 2008
Denver Denver
Taylor Marsh? are the posts under the name hypocrisy yours?
Yeah real feminists spend their time trolling on a web site of supporters of the FIRST WOMAN WITH A REAL CHANCE TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE MOST IMPORTANT COUNTRY IN THE FREE WORLD attacking the women every chance they get. That’s what real feminists do…attack other women who support a democratic woman.
Can we moderate this site?
I have no patience for Barky’s followers today.
Uppity Woman — Great Comment. If these are what’s attracted to Obama then McCain will win in a landslide. You kiddies better get out and vote because we boomers/seniors, white workers, women, military and Hispanics vote and we won’t vote for Obama the Rock Star wannabe who has two left feet.
McCain’s comment was deplorable. However, nobama has so many deplorable associates, comments and actions at this point, that he makes McCain look like an angel.
I’m not voting for McCain, I’m voting AGAINST nobama.
Don’t you get it yet?
the difference, you idiot, is that obama is doing it in front of the WORLD.
Textbook example of a troll attempting to derail a thread.
Oh for christs sake, it was 16 years ago. Kindly tell me every thing you have ever called anyone in the last 16 years cuz we are going to repeat it for the rest of your life.
Good article Ani.
Hillary proved the best of women’s abilities and misogynist men who fall so short of her accomplishments can’t deal with it unless they objectify, and pornify all women.
I make a mean apple pie and I can also operate a backhoe. But now being past the age of ‘eye-candy’ I am thrown under the bus and made fun of.
Sick.Of.It.
NOBAMA!
I love apple pie!
And you can operate a backhoe too…dang, you go girl!!
What Hillary achieved in this primary is to show us what we’ve been missing all along.
The patriarchy knew she was extraordinarily capable of being one of the best presidents this country ever had, but they couldn’t handle the fact that in the process, she would also raise the bar so high that they knew no male candidate running would be able to reach it.
So, rather than lose big time to a “woman” and put the country’s best interests above their oh so fragile egos, these guys decided early on that they were going to cheat her out of the nomination and were pushing BO since he gave that speech at the 2004 Dem. Convention. They had to make certain that they put one of their own in office, who would do as he was told, keep the secrets and permit them to continue the frat party they’ve been having for decades at the expense of the American people. They knew Hillary would NEVER have put up with the bullshit these guys have been getting away with for soooo long.
Nonetheless, even though they managed to stymy Hillary for now, she still proved that she would have brought a “sea change” that would have brought America back to the top of the mountain “polished like gold”, if only this had been a fair and honest contest.
It’s a sad commentary on the so-called “male superiority” to women when they have to so blanatanly cheat in order to defeat a woman.
That’s why we must be there in Denver expressing our outrage that these men would rather destroy our country in order to save face.
You said it!!!! That is why I am changing to an Independent after 50 years of being a democrat.
They lost me when they decided to cheat Hilliary of all the votes in Florida and Michigan.
dot — ^5 good for you. They think we are gonna fall in line because we have no place to go. Oh the arrogance of the New Democratic Party. I’m waiting for the begging to begin. McCain had me at HELLO
I’ve already re-registered as Independent because of ALL the numerous unfair things that were done to Hillary and her campaign. Although a lifelong Dem, it was very liberating to make a clean break from this NEW Dem Party and their “fresh” new candidate. No thanks!
And regarding the DNC’s recent financial woes and inability to raise big money. Well, good luck with that!
The “fresh” new candidate — who is wholly inexperienced and totally unqualified.
The funny part is they all go on about the “black” candidate. Every single one of his handlers except the brazile nut is white. White. He is a fraud being pushed on the bots by white men.
Hear! Hear!
Hypocracy,
You missed the point and are making excuses for misogyny within he democratic party!!! Who give’s f*ck if the republicans are sexists? We already know that!!!!! The Dems should be held to a higher standar because they portray themselves as the party of equality for all. This elction has proven that they as big misogynists as the republicans, witch is troubling an unescusable.
A vote for McCain is a protest vote, not anything more. Women have to hold democrats acountable for their misogyny, otherwise they will continue to take our vots for granted and treat us like shit!!!!
A vote for McCain is not a protest vote.
It is a vote for a man who called his wife a c**t.
It is a vote for a man who would outlaw abortion and turn the Supreme Court even more to the right for decades.
It is a vote against everything Hillary Clinton stands for.
It is not effective protest to cut off the future of our daughters and granddaughters to spite the DNC’s face.
Effective protest would be to change the Democratic party, not destroy it.
If Obama loses, it will not have been an effective protest. People won’t listen to your points because there will just be arguments about what should have been for years.
Just ask Nader voters from 2000. Very few people listen to what Nader says
because it is still all about 2000.
You should vote for the person who will be the best president and has a chance of winning. And that is not John McCain no matter how much any of you want to delude yourselves.
I’m voting for McCain and if you don’t like it — tough.
That abortion argument is old and tired. If Bush didn’t overturn Roe vs Wade, McCain isn’t either.
It isn’t old and tired to the women who will not be able to get abortions.
You’re naive to think that because Roe v Wade hasn’t been overturned it won’t be. And abortion rights have been eroded under Bush. Just watch the Frontline documentary, the Last Abortion Clinic
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/clinic/
And it isn’t just about Roe v Wade. Women have died because of Bush’s policies denying funding to the UN Population Fund which McCain will continue. Just read this 2003 column by Nicolas Kristoff
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C06E4D7163EF935A25756C0A9659C8B63
he’s written more since then. Just search his column archive for fistula.
“It isn’t old and tired to the women who will not be able to get abortions.”
Those women should have thought about that before deciding to back an inexperienced, sexist and troubling “empty suit” for the Presidency.
They have made their beds. Now they must lie in them.
Hypocrisy-go get a life. You and your bots can say NOTHING to change anyone’s mind over here.
Obama is a sham. The sooner people like you grasp that reality the better. Now go do something of value.
NOBAMA EVER!!!!!!!!!!
hypocrazy you hypocrite!
I’m rolling my eyes here. You democrat pigs have been using roe v wade to keep us women in line for decades. As IF You give a shit.
I have learned to copy and paste for repetitive A Holes who keep posting the same lame shit on this board. So here ya go!
Any woman who falls for this sexist pig is already in danger of losing her rights as a complete person. Roe v Wade is the least of their worries after that happens and Sweetie starts setting the Example for the workplace.
If my younger sisters lose Roe Wade it will be their own fault for taking the rights they have for granted, because they didn’t fight for them. They are complacent and can take the time to swoon over a sexy empty suit who has already set gender relations back a minimum of 30 years, and we haven’t even gotten to the General Election campaign yet. Serves them right. Not my problem. I know how not to get pregnant.
It’s my job to protect the rights I fought for that matter to me. This is a misogynist’s campaign and if younger women are too busy spawning over Leland Gaunt handing out Needful Things and discussing his vibrating phone when he leans on one of them, then they will have to learn to take the consequences of their own folly along with the consolations. Maybe then they will Get It. I have already done well in my life. Complacency is their enemy, not mine. They don’t appreciate what the previous generation of women went through so that they could spawn for Obama, and they don’t deserve our help any longer. Let em eat vibrating cell phones.
In short, if Obama were ever president, perish the thought, women would have a whole lot more to worry about than roe v wade.
right on girl…
Let’s see, McCain might try to reverse roe v wade so the religious right will vote for him and Obama might allow all us “hos” to have an abortion if we vote for him.
We need to restart the women’s movement!
who the fuck cares about r v w. you people need to stop living in the past.
wodiej — This Democratic Party is so empty. They hear the word women — ah yes Abortion Rights. They are just paying lip service to their constituancies because they want a New and exciting Democratic Party so they can lose in a new and exciting way. Go ahead Dems but this time you can lose without me. How has Nancy Pelosi become so arrogant when she is at 4% popularity? The mind boggles.
It’s because it’s run by old white men. When their mistresses get pregnant they send them to the islands, so it’s no skin off their noses.
You are delusional.
I’m voting for McCain and there isn’t one thing you can do about it. I will NEVER vote for nobama. Every day that passes just solidifies my position.
“A vote for McCain is not a protest vote.”
BULL.
This election - after the horrible hijacking of the primaries by Obama and the DNC - will send a clear, important message to the Democratic party once and for all:
“Don’t fuck with the American voters nor marginalize us. Or you will suffer the consequences.”
We will NOT continue to reward rotten behavior in the Democratic party with our votes and money.
We will NOT support an underqualified, flip-flopping Bush-like candidate just because he’s a Democrat.
We will NOT be bullied, strong-armed nor threatened into voting for a lackluster, woman-hating candidate just because he’s a Democrat.
“You should vote for the person who will be the best president and has a chance of winning. And that is not John McCain no matter how much any of you want to delude yourselves.”
Absolute bullshit.
Not only is John McCain currently THE BEST candidate now left in this race, he is going to win the Presidency in November. WE will see to that.
And NOBODY tells me who I “should” vote for. I make those decisions.
So “get over it.”
Kudos. Absolutely. Well said. SOMEONE had to say it. So, thank you.
Okay….I see you are pissed at McCain for supposedly calling his wife a nasty name. BUT>>>>>>
What about Obama and his use of that song by Jay-Z?
“I have a thousand problems but a BITCH aint one of them”?
remember that Hypocrisy?
It isn’t a vote against EVERYTHING Hillary stands for, because she stands for her country. With her hand over her heart. Backtrack Oblahblah, not so much.
I don’t have to worry that my particular vote is going to “destroy” the Democratic party. The Democratic leadership seems hell bent on doing that by persisting in placing the name of an unqualified Y chromosome carrier on the ballot … so you can take your lecture to a site where they nod their heads up and down like the bobbing dolls in the back of an automobile. No votes for Obama here. Not in 2008 and not in any election cycle thereafter. He should be so lucky to get his ass re-elected in Illinois!
It’s amazing to me that men think a dangling 2 inch piece of flesh entitles them to be rulers of the earth. Tell you a secret guys, those things a silly looking.

Dem Superdelegates Rule After All
By Craig Crawford | July 14, 2008 6:00 AM | Permalink | Comments (17)
There was a time months ago — when Hillary Rodham Clinton led the Democratic nomination race — that party superdelegates were the bad guys according to the rhetoric coming out of Barack Obama’s camp.
Obama supporters trashed the unelected, automatic and unpledged delegates as undemocratic autocrats when it looked as though they might put Clinton over the top. Not anymore.
With the dust settled on the primary season, one thing is clear: Obama is the presumed nominee thanks only to superdelegates. He never did win enough pledged delegates to reach the winning number, falling about 350 votes short. His expected victory stems from beating Clinton among superdelegates 463-257, according to a tally on Real Clear Politics.
All the more reason for Obama to make sure that there is no roll call including Clinton’s name on the ballot at the national convention — which a few die hard fans of the former First Lady are still clamoring for.
Why highlight just how close the Democratic contest really was? And there is certainly no gain for Obama in dwelling on how he had to depend on superdelegates to win the nomination.
Thanks for posting this. I was out to dinner with friends petrified of McCain, who are sorry Hillary is out, and voting for BHO because they think there is no alternative. THey don’t know about any of the issues we discuss on this blog. Larry, we have to bust out of the blogosphere with this info and also to pursue the concepts being put forth by the Denver Group. People have to be made aware that this within the realm of possible.
Your average Joe doesn’t even have an inkling that Hillary could be resurrected.
And hypocrisy, believe is calling you. You are to meet at Starbucks for a green tea foamy thing.
It’s starts with blogs, perculates to sites like RCP. Check daily for articles submitted there. Vote for the ones you like.
Then it goes to radio. Look at Larry’s latest move.
He and Susan are clearly on the move. I’m waiting for a page makeover that is jazzier even than HuffPo. LOL*
By the way, I should have said this sooner. Kudos to NQ staff. I’m impressed! You’re grabbing the opportunity and making it happen!
It’s also clear that Obama won the most pledged delegates and it was clear he would back in early March.
The supers just ratified that. As everyone pretty much knew they would.
“It’s also clear that Obama won the most pledged delegates and it was clear he would back in early March.
The supers just ratified that. As everyone pretty much knew they would”
Bullshit.
That same fucked-up logic is what got George W. Bush in the White House back in 2000.
Al Gore clearly won the popular vote in Florida. But the Supreme Court HANDED Bush Florida’s electoral votes - ignoring the votes of thousands of Floridians. And America got stuck with the worst President in modern U.S. history.
Eight years later, here comes the DNC and Obama - repeating history during the primaries. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. But the DNC HANDED Barack Obama the Democratic nomination.
Only THIS time, they WON’T make it to the finish line with Obama in November.
THIS time, WE - THE VOTERS - will correct what the DNC and the Democratic party screwed up.
We will do in November what we didn’t have the power to do in 2000 - put the most qualified candidate in the White House.
John McCain.
It’s also very clear that he didn’t win enough pledged delegates or this would have been over. He has been trending down since mid-March when the TUCC story finally percolated above ground. But even before that (see, OH, TX, RI) in early March, he couldn’t close the deal. He never did close it and that is why he is dependent on SD’s now.
He was dragged across the finish line by the DC elite. In the end, BO lost the election in mid-March…everything the Rethugs ever needed they already had in their hands. He has never been able to explain his nearly 20-year association with that church…because there is no explanation. That pot is always there waiting to be stirred, it raises big questions about him for which there is no answer. The Reps will be stirring furiously beginning the day after Labor Day.
Since sd’s aren’t allowed to vote till the convention, you’re a little premature in your hooting and hollaring.
Hypocracy,
You missed the point and are making excuses for misogynists within he democratic party!!! Who gives a f*ck if the republicans are sexists? We already know that!!!!! The Dems should be held to a higher standard, because they portray themselves as the party of equality for all. This election has proven that they are as big misogynists as the republicans, witch is troubling an unescusable.
A vote for McCain is a protest vote, not anything more. Women have to hold democrats acountable for their misogyny, otherwise they will continue to take our votes for granted and treat us like shit!!!!
Kendal he hasn’t missed the point. He’s using the old Deflect, Change the Subject, Blame Somebody Else routine so common in that useless child’s campaign.
OWN YOUR ROTTEN CANDIDATE HYPOCRASY! He’s all yours! NO more excuses! NO more changing the subject!
OWN YOUR SHITTY CANDIDATE!
Now there’s a bumper sticker, LOL! I can’t believe Craig Crawford is saying that there are only a “few” of us die-hard Hillary supporters who want a legitimate roll-call vote at the convention. I think there’s more than a “few” of us…
It’s a wonder more menopausal women don’t look for weapons and clock towers, with this type of ’support’. I would suggest that Obama himself head for the hills in another 5-10 years, ’cause his hateful wife is already showing symptoms and can’t be in full-blown menopause yet.
If men had to deal with it, there would’ve been a ‘cure’ for it years ago. Well, there really IS a cure (natural bioidentical hormone therapy) but of course, 99% the misogynist male medical profession and the FDA don’t buy into it since it really doesn’t serve to line their own pockets and of courses, it’s something that women just have to ‘deal with’.
I agree…I have always said that if men gave birth pregnancy leave would be the entire 9 months instead of women getting one night in the hospital and back to work in 6 weeks and working almost right up to giving birth. Pathetic….
Any woman looking at him will go frigid
She probably can’t breathe with all that fat on top of her.
More hypocrisy calling Michelle Obama hateful.
If the attacks made against her here were made against any other woman,
you’d be writing posts attacking your own words.
Michelle Obama is a Ho! Isn’t that funny!!!!!????
Obama and you think calling us Hos is funny so I am really SURE that he doesn’t mind us calling Michelle a Ho, do you?
Your mother’s a Ho too, hypo. And your sister’s a Ho. Isn’t that funnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyy????
Ladies and gentleman! May I introduce Pimp and Ho Obama.
Isn’t that funnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyy???
I’m a regular comedian!
And she wants to be first ho.
The comedian’s wife is “frigid” because he’s lousy in bed.
I found this in comment thread at jewsagainstobama. Read about bozo from the perspective of a former student of his. Confirms my prior post at SPIRITED POLITICS that mobama wears the pants in their family (among other things.)
“Barack Obama is nothing more than a sham scam artist. I should know. I took his class. Not only is he PHENOMENALLY insecure about who and what he is, he perpetually hangs on to his wife’s coattails. Meaning, in that household, Michelle Obama rules the roost. Barack, when back I knew him, was a pompous ass lecturing to the class walls. Even in a room of fifteen people, he could barely remember our names. Wifey got him started in the “Black Oppression” line. Till then he really had NO CLUE that he could be black. He always thought of himself as the son of a foreigner and a (white) American - like so many other multiracial kids. But to get married to a Black fundamentalist (ie Michelle), changed his life. He started to attend Devil worship - ie. listening to the devil speak about the God of Hate - his pastor, who not only excoriates ALL whites on an almost hourly basis in his congregation of hate, but also baptised Barack’s kids. Attending that kind of worship for even a year will turn any sane man’s head, and Barack attended it for decade. So just imagine how much his head must be turned - not that he ever had it on that tight in the first place. Barack is the kind of person who is STILL moldable. That’s a risky proposition for President or the United States. He’ll basically do anything and say anthing to placate his most immediate audience, and he’ll go home clueless. Then wifey will preach her one-sided vindication-driven ideas to him, and he’ll all of a sudden have a “stand”. His stands can change daily depending on whether wifey is present in the room or not. And remember, Michelle Obama has no real qualifications to be First Lady of the United States except that she was a lawyer with an Ivy League degree - all courtesy of affirmative action, of course. Nothing Condi Rice about Mrs. Obama. She has neither the personality of Condi Rice to hold her audience, nor does she have any extraordinarily impressive credentials. Her $300k University of Chicago job as hospital administrator was made for her when it was determined by the hospital committee that she could potentially be First Lady material - after Barack’s earth-moving DNC speech in 2004, cleverly orchestrated by David Axelrod, another prof, a nice guy and incidentally an extremely shrewd politician able to jump ship or jump onboard ship with the drop of a hat. In class, he had in fact told us (this was when Obama was running for Illinois Senate), that Barack’s chances at the election were close to nil, since he was such a Hyde-Park (exclusively black neighborhood) fixture, and hence so local to Chicago, that he could never go national anytime soon. Seems Axelrod had to eat his words pretty fast, and is now extra-top on the Obama campaign list of favors (and favorites). I would not vote for a candidate of so little (1). net worth (2). sense of personal security and dignity (3). political experience (4). related to petty African dictators. You like to feel that the man in power has not only good physical health (Obama is thin as a weed - makes you think he has TB or some wasting disease), AND good mental health (being ruled by that Politics of Hate Pastor is not my idea of sanity), but also that he is not opportunistic and just “out to make money” from the Presidency - which the Obamas clearly are. He used to harp on his antecedents in class - a man of forty still wondering about who his father was! As if the rest of us students could care less. But he’s still harping about it now, and made a fortune on that idiopathic thoughtprocess from his autobiographical books. It kind of makes you wonder… is he really all that right in his head? You know, your personal musings really ought to be your own. When you come to work for me, don’t bring your emotional garbage with you - just your qualifications please. He has close relations with some dictators in Africa, one of them is his cousin it seems. That doesn’t sit well with me and shouldn’t sit well with any human being. Here he support Darfur and there we support a leader who has kith and kin involved in genocide. What kind of warped logic is that? And frankly, besides being a lawyer, like his wife, and a small-time community organizer, what exactly is he? Can he rally our troops? Can he command a battalion? Not that he needs to, to be president, but doesn’t presence count for something? Can he step into a local police station and at the bat on an eye, command the required attention and respect of those who serve and protect this nation? No, he cannot. He’s still busy figuring out exactly who he is - even before an audience! He’ll flip-flop till the cows come home. Issues? The only issue Barack is even remotely connected with is trying to figure out who he is. When he married Michelle he figured out he was Black. Not slave-decent like her, but Black, or close enough. If he had married a blonde with blue eyes, I guess he would be harping on his Kansas roots. When a man has no personality or his own, when it’s all just borrowed - it’s basically a sham. It’ll be a shame if America ends up voting for a sham. Michelle Obama, or, as I like to call her, Nagina, is nothing more than a mediocre Black woman who made it slightly above the ranks of the average Black Joe, but she’s still not done anything comendable beyond looking out for her “people”’s interests - by sending funds the minority (read: disgruntled african american) way in her university adminstrator job. All she can do is think of how to take revenge for african-american “sufferings”. In this day and age, I see no sufferings that that community is facing. They have the equal right and ability to lift themselves out of their “oppressed” holes if they want to - doesn’t Michelle Obama set herself up as living proof of that? But if they don’t WANT to, that’s nobody’s fault but their own. Besides, what has she or Barack ever done to acknowledge the needs of the that part of America that DOES actually contribute productively and make this nation work - i.e. the vast majority of white america, asian america, hispanic america, arab america, eastern european american, southasian america, latino america - in all their community servicing and limited political career? Zilch, nada, zero. Nothng for any community but Michelle Obama’s very own. It is very obvious that this is a self-serving family. It won’t be the first, but it would be nice to not make them “one of the last” either. This is a family so out-of-touch with the needs of America, and so focused like tunnel-vision on the needs of a small minority of hate-mongering black-americans, that they really cannot say with all honesty that they stand for “change”. What they really mean is that they stand for “small change”. Petty cash, actually. And if asians, muslims and jews think they are safe with Barack, well, the FISA he voted yes for just threw away the rights of ALL Americans, and asians and muslims are top numbers for profiling as everyone knows. Barack is clueless about the needs of Jews, and he doesn’t really care. After coming to terms after so many years with his father abandoning him and his mother, and in fact bring his memories into focus so much so that he is now actually fondly reminicing about his antecedents, does Israel know what is in this man’s head? Barack has no real care or sincerity for Israel. It’s a part of national security, but for him it’s a small part. And he’s not going to forgive muslims either - after all, his muslim father abandoned him as a child, remember? I remember in class, there was one headscarf and a few yarmukels. Barack would never even make eye contact with those folk, and the girl with the headscarf once complained to the group that he’d forgotten to call on her and she’d missed debate points that days. The class jews he just either ignored, or answered with arrogance or bored looks on his face. That was a just few years ago, when he was teaching at the U of Chicago. So he can’t have changed much. Foreign policy? I’d like to see his arrogant up-in-the-clouds head tell us how he’s going to lay out domestic policy and America back into the number one global player position. Unions with him? Not on your life. He can’t even tell you the name of a few products what we manufacture and export, let alone what he can do for the average American worker. If a president can’t influence the US economy, he sure as hell can make sure it’s not steering off-course. Can he atleast lay out a plan for that before pandering for our vote? John McCain has just a few years left in him, but I’d rather a POW who can rally our troops - because frankly speaking, getting them out of Iraq anytime soon is not in MacCain OR Obama’s hands anymore - or I’d just rather stay home that day and not vote. Better than letting a slick opportunistic lawyer who can play to the crowds win.”
Wow…excellent. thanks for sharing.
I wonder if anyone taped Obama’s lectures, knowing Obama he probably would have made a lot of stupid comments.
I wish the above comment had been better written. It reads as stream of consciousness speak and is discursive. I also wonder how a former student knew some of the personal details of his teacher’s life? It would be nice if we knew how he found out about Michelle. Did it come up in class? Did students get invited to his house or share personal time with the Obamas?
Don’t get me wrong. Many of the points made above are things I certainly perceive about Obama. But those are my gut feelings and I can’t PROVE them factually no matter how desperately I wish I could.
Which is why the above comment reads in too many portions as a personal ‘bitch’ against 0bama and the writer’s subjective opinion. And he is certainly entitled, I know I have my opinion about this fraud and he did have personal contact.
Although I agree that Michelle provides 0bama with his AA identity, I don’t believe that this cunning man did not reallize before meeting her the advantages of him attachimg himself to an AA identity as a politician. It’s why he went to Chicago in the first place. I believe that he hand-picked Michelle because she was the perfect match for his goals. I also don’t believe she wears the pants. She might think she does and 0bama might let her proceed under this delusion because he needs her right now, but he is in charge. And when Michelle is no longer expedient for his goals, she goes under the bus with the rest of us.
0bama is an opportunist. You don’t have to be a genius to see that. But where are the facts that support some of the charges this person made? How as a student did he know so much about his teacher’s personal life?
More hypocrisy. Reposting a misogynist comment blaming Michelle Obama.
Did you even read this post?
And then people here respond it is excellent without really thiking.
What’s this have to do with Obama and you being sexist misogynist pigs?
NO MORE DEFLECTING AND CHANGING THE SUBJECT
HYPOCRITEHYPOCRASY!WE WILL NOT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH IT ON THIS BOARD!!!!
OWN YOUR SHITTY CANDIDATE!!!!!!
It seems disingenuous hyposcrisy that you only picked that quote and not any of the responses to it. I seem to remember that statement along with a follow up that Obama was responsible for Obama .
I also told someone on the board who was disparaging to Michelle to shut the fuck up if he wasn’t going to say anything intelligent.
So go away with your own delusions.
We are not here to talk about McCain. I am going to bitch at the stupidity of the DNC and their miscalculation and at the utter stupidity of an Obama candidacy.
I will not vote for McCain. However, Obama has not yet demonstrated to me any potential qualities that would lead me to believe he has any talent to lead this country despite his inexperience. With Hillary Clinton sitting back and the full breadth of light upon Obama, his potential is shrinking to nothingness.
We have FISA, NAFTA, gun control, capitol punishment, and campaign finance reversals. Then we have the obvious stupidity of wanting to give a speech at the Brandenburg Gate and revealing his new and improved Bush Faith Based Initiatives to an area of the country, although populated by “the typical poor white gun totin’, bible thumpin’ racists”, isn’t in favor of them. BTW don’t forget the “Seal of Obamaland” as icing on the cake along with the stadium size acceptance speech now on tap for the convention.
Thank you for the comprehensive analysis of the Obamas. I applaud your astute discretion!!!!!!!
It’s quite unlikely that a University of Chicago Law School graduate would write something so poorly written and rambling unless they know have a mental illness.
It’s probably a fake - just like half the things at NQ.
Feel better now that you’ve come to a site and insulted it?
I don’t even do that at HuffPo, regardless of how absurd their headlines are or how ridiculous the articles are that pander to Obama.
And she’s got plenty to criticize over there.
How’s the story on McCain’s divorce going, for example? I noticed it was front and center for days.
Talk about hypocritical…
It always amazes me that people are willing to make fools of themselves just for a cheap shot. Read the comment section over there. You’ll see the tone and attitude that is consistently unreasonable, unwilling to discuss, and as entrenched as here.
Yet this site is a “hate” site?
If this is a hate site, then HuffPo is truly HELL.
TWO SNAPS AND A BOOTY SHAKE for that one AnniCa.
You are so damn right when you say Huff-n-Puff is hell! They come here and bitch and complain that WE are Racist and stupid. If you go to THIER sites, the comments not to mention the Diary post’s, are much much more rabid!
But as usual…..It is our conduct that incites these people to call us names and to trash our site…never their own, Just like the Man they worship!
And how exactly does that differ from, say, you who thinks that you are the moral superior to everyone but still lingers to salvate at a car wreck? You are a disgusting excuse for a human being. You don’t intend to be a “change agent” any more than the candidate you support. You’re a voyeur and he’s a posseur. You’re perfect for each other.
Blech
Well, I don’t think that an Obama follower would be the best person to spot a “fake” since they are worshipping the biggest con man in recent US political history. So,as judgement goes I’ll stick with the “poorly written” law student’s assessment.
jm — That was an amazing comment. It speaks to how empty we are as a nation to even think of this man as our President. We worry about Obama being anti-women or anti-union or anti-semitic but in truth Obama is anti-everyone but himself. A vessel rotted with hate and insecurity into which gullible Americans put all their hopes and dreams. Wake up and listen to the empty words spoken by the empty suit–who feels nobody’s pain but his own.
For his new ‘Summer Spin” MSM campaign strategy, go to:
http://unityindiversity-spiritedpolitics.blogspot.com/
that wasn’t the Bernie Mac Obama used to know…
hmmmm… how about that “superior judgement!”
PUMA
Thank you, Ani, for writing this piece. The Hillary campaign brought out into the media spotlight everyday what women already experience everyday. And, Obama ABSOLUTELY gained advantage from the media misogynist blitz. However, he’s shown his own sexist side: his “your likable enough comment,” calling a female reporter “Sweetie,” saying women can do it “better in heels” at the Unity event. And, what was the deal when he pulled out Hillary’s chair at one of the debates? He reminded everyone “she’s a woman” and “I AM THE MAN.”
What does likable enough have to do with being a woman? He could have said the same thing were it asked about John Edwards. And don’t say that these sorts of criteria aren’t applied to men - they are - just ask John Kerry.
And the line about doing it in heels is an old feminist line about Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. I’ve heard many, many women and feminists use that.
The sweetie thing was dumb, but it was a little slip. And, pulling out a chair being a capital offense - whoo-eee!!
The sweetie thing was dumb, but it was a little slip
No, you see the problem is that it was intentional.
And what evidence do you have for that?
I mean, really, don’t you ever have a slip of the tongue. I think every human being does.
Well then, in this climate to make that slip of the tonque shows he’s an idiot.
Obama said he had a bad habit of calling women sweetie.
I grew up in Chicago, you only call children and people close to you terms of endearment
When a Chicagoan calls a stranger sweetie it is to be dismissive, and Detroit is no different.
I now live in New Orleans where we call everyone sugar, baby, darlin, etc. Even the most macho of men of every color use the word babe when talking to each other.
Had Obama said sweetie here no one would have cared.
That is my larger point, always remember where you are and who you are talking to.
It would be nice if someone who wants to be President understood that.
Goodness. Do we not have a legendary list of slips of the tongue to show what an idiot he is? My personal favorite is how many states he’s visited … no, maybe its’s the new new location of the great lakes … BO … the gift that keeps on um uh uh uh giving, right!
EXCELLENT POST ANI-THANK YOU!!
Thanks, Ani. Excellent post. You echo my own feelings exactly.
I’m including a link to this and an earlier article on the same topic in my blog post today, it’ll maybe reach a few less politically-inclined readers there.
Thank you.
Misogyy is never excuseable and certinly no candidate for president should be able, or should want, to advantage himself with this kind of behavior.
Where’s FDL’s mockery at the outrage in the Obama camp on this cover? Where is John Cole’s mockery of the outrage in the Obama campaign on this cover?
Nada. Zip. Only whining that noone is talking about the article inside.
Ya know? It’s the hypocrisy, stupid!
For SusanUnPC, it’s a complete vindication. The very next day, no one mocks No Quarter for their stand on Obama’s friend’s HO jokes, and his tepid “Just messin’ with you, man!” response.
So, to John Cole, to Arianna, to all the mockers and the hypocrites out there, I say:
What goes around, comes around. The New Yorker cover was “Just messin’ with you, man!”
Barry’s a Pimp and Michelle’s a Ho! I am practicing to be a comedian! How am I doing?
OMG…LOL..you’re doing a great job!!
uppity — ^5^5 How in the Hell did we get here?
Fabulous !Uppity Woman, don’t practice in Chicago, please!
When is your next booking in Las Vegas? LOL !
*********************************************
Seriously, my inquiring mind wants to know, why Obama was seated on a stool on stage, while Hillary was giving her speech? I saw this happened twice already.Sign of the weaker sex, huh? LOL.”Sit and listen,Obama.”
You got it. We’re just whiners who have no sense of humor.
Mostly, I am over the Bernie Mac deal. Thanks to Susan’s articles on NQ, I purged myself the night it happened. Boy, that got me hot, and it wasn’t a hotflash! *haha
Now, watching the Obama campaign make a huge fuss over the New Yorker cover (while giving barely lip service to the insults to women by Bernie Mac) is amusing me to no end. Oh, it’s different when it’s about him, huh? NOW all of a sudden “poor taste” is important.
I tell you, you couldn’t write this up as fiction and make it work. To think within 24 hours, Obama would be getting a big swig of satire against him and Michelle after blowing off the audience boos of sexist jokes just is too rich for words.
Somewhat like nothing was controversial about Unca Jerry until he called Bobo just another politician … G-D America not controversial … Barry says what he needs to say as a politician? Under the bus !!!
yep, beebop, and one thing I’m NOT cynical about is the commonsense of Americans.
They spot this hypocricy without anyone having to point it out.
The truth is that most voters are far more savvy than politicians think. Most spin does NOT work.
People who are busy, and I once was, simply don’t have time to point out the obvious to idiots like Obamabots. They just snicker, change the channel, and help the kids with homework.
But they vote.
And then then pundits try to make up nutty reasons to explain those votes away.
Hillary’s momentum was real and strong. Obama peaked in February. It’s not coming back.
Wright cracked the illusion. Nobody’s buying the kool-aid.
It won’t come back.
Now, we’re down to the bottom line. The age factor, which is real, versus the bullshitter, which is equally real.
It’ll be interesting to see which way people end up going.
Voters are between a rock and a hard spot.
anninca — Satire is only funny when it hits the mark and this one is a bullseye.
I’m past the they don’t know better or it’s their culture excuse I’m firmly at this is intentional bigotry could you imagine if McCain held a fun raiser and the comedian made AA jokes all in fun of course. There is something amiss here, a true anti social dependency pathology, Dems have an I hate mommy complex, I’m done with this version of a Dem Party.
Although I agree with the points made in this piece, I must dispute 2 things.
First, Bernie Mac is not a gifted comedian. How can you write something like that after his little performance at the fundraiser where he proved that he is not gifted in comedy?
Because I’m AA, I see Mac from another perspective. He is part of the image white Hollywood executives force feed the American public as representive of the dominant persona of the black community. Everything about Mac, from the way he looks, to the way he talks feeds into the stereotype of the typical black man in America. These white executives still see black performers through the prism of Steppin Fetchit and images of a Hollywood era goneby.
Mac is not a prototype. He represents one type of AA male. There are others. And so it comes as no surprise to me what came out of his mouth. That would be expected from the type he represents: crude, vulgar, ignorant and tasteless. There is nothing gifted about that. Redd Foxx did it better and was a whole lot funnier. Not to mention smarter.
Second, I take issue with this comment:
“Terrified of being left, cuckolded or criticized by women, male comics mount a preemptive offensive one cannot fight against: You’re not pretty enough. You talk too much. You don’t suck my dick enough. You’re a gold digger. You are old. You are fat. You are boring. Other women don’t like you. You don’t like each other. ”
It’s this “woe is woman” attitude that all but killed the Feminist Movement. We surrender our power as human beings when we respond as being helpless when confronted with the kind of assaults described above. It puts the onus on men to change and therefore putting us at their mercy.
Have men changed? Have our cries and rails against their behavior borne fruit? Do you even think that men prone to such behavior are even listening?
The answer is NO!
And there is a reason for that and it’s called power. Human beings never surrender power. And men aren’t going to blithely give up their advantage in this society just because we complain about it.
And neither are beautiful young women. Which is at the core of the problem as well. Because it’s not just men laughing at these so-called jokes. Women who are given the advantage of their beauty and youth are laughing, too. Or simply keeping silent. And it’s not just young and beautiful women. It’s any woman who wants to curry favor with masculine attention and thereby accessing power. Didn’t we see that this election cycle with the women who lined up against Hillary and ignored the sexism emanating from the msm and the 0bama campaign?
What would it have taken for even a pro-0bama supporter like Sen. Claire McCaskill to say “I condemn this type of assault even though I’m an Obama supporter. It has no place in the campaign. Let’s deal with the issues.”
But, no! None of these women stood up. Instead, they were in denial, or worse, they rejected the idea and condemned women who recognized what was happening and spoke out. It was more important to curry favor with 0bama and the rest of the male hierarchy.
I’m sorry ladies, but I draw the line at giving women a pass on this score. We will never be truly liberated unless we learn to defend ourselves with words and with physical weapons, I am not from the MLK school of non-violence, as well as confront the treachery, dishonesty and lack of ethics within our own gender. This is where the Feminist Movement failed. We cannot continue to only rail against what men are doing. We have to confront the realities within our own gender and understand the reasons behind it and the realities involved with fixing it.
It’s a long overdue conversation that needs to happen behind closed doors, across generations and race, women-to-women.
PREACH.
In complete agreement!
Mimi, I question his rep. We have a comedy night at Marie Callenders and get circuit comediennes from LA all the time. They jokingly call us the “Pie Circuit.” It’s true. You can have pie and coffee while enjoying the show.
They have to clean up the routines for this group, and everyone is able to do so.
When you can’t flex your routine to the situation, then you’re not prepared.
That’s why I wondered if wasn’t some kind of subconscious “Fuck you, bitches!” move on his part.
Or I could go further and wonder if he didn’t cut Obama off at the knees because of what happened with Jesse Jackson! Perhaps Bernie agrees.
I don’t know. That’s all psychological guessing, but I do know it was inappropriate. I think it was more inappropriate than the New Yorker illustration, since there was no purpose to it other than to make women the target of some old and worn jokes.
“Fuck you, bitches!” move on his part.
That’s exactly what it was, plus a bit of laziness on trifling Bernie’s part. I mean I am shocked that he was too stupid to even acknowlege that this was a fundraiser for a presidential candidate and that such material was simply not appropriate for the venue. All Bernie proved is that he is simply one stupid motherfucker with a sexist attitutde that he wanted to boast about.
I have to say a lot of black men are really showing their behinds over 0bama’s candidacy and it’s a complete turn-off. They need to be reminded that a president is not a king and that the potential of having a black president is not a license to be an asshole in public.
But they are only following 0bama’s lead. A little humility is always a good thing. It certainly doesn’t hurt especially when you are vying for votes.
Or does 0bama know that the election will be stolen for him, therefore he doesn’t have to be humble and gracious?
If I were male I wouldn’t show my behind to bo.
Yum…… I loves me some pie.
Great post, Mimi.
So true, and I never heard it put this way:
AF catfish — men will never forgive us because we can fake it and they can’t. Therefore, we have the power.
I find it disturbing that women are willing to mutilate themsleves with fake breasts and plastic surgery to appeal to males. It’s sick.
When a man tells me what I need to do to look better to them, I tell them, well, soon as you grow your hair back, I’ll think about it.
Well put. And “Amen”!
And McCain?
Supporter to McCain, regarding Hillary Clinton:
How can we beat the bitch?
McCain: That’s a very good question.
So your argument is: they’re both misogynists.
Ok, let’s look at that reasoning.
They’re both misogynists, but one of them is a war hero who has traveled extensively, has been on the Armed Services Committee for 20 years, and has a long history of working across the aisle to get bi-partisan legislation passed.
vs. the other, who had…a part-time job in the State Senate, and never held a hearing for his only Committee Chairman position re: Afghanistan, DURING WAR TIME.
No judgment
No character.
No experience.
No vote.
No, they’re probably not misogynists, but no one is perfect in these matters.
You have your contrasts. My contrast (well, one of them) is between someone who has a lifetime commitment to the idea that women have the right to control their bodies (as demonstrated in the ratings given by reproductive rights organizations) and one who has a lifetime commitment that women should have that right and is willing to accept the deaths that will occur from illegal abortions.
…and it’s unfortunate that women who support Obama did not think about the consequences.
0bama has a lifetime commitment to 0bama!
ZERO!
That’s why I now type his name using a zero/0 instead of an ‘O’.
Zer0bama in my book!
We’re not really into defending McCain. PUMA voters aren’t McCain voters necessarily. Some are. Some aren’t.
So this is distracting from the topic.
And BO supporter at our caucuses calling Hillary supporters the c-word while having a good laugh…hmmm. The thing is, I would have expected this behavior from the Republicans…but from the Dems. Wow, that’s f*cked up!
McCain: That’s a very good question.
Find the link to that! You won’t. He looked askance at the WOMAN who asked the question and never answered her.
You smell like an untended outhouse.
“This is not the kind of behavior I expect from any decent man, much less a Presidential candidate. Senator Obama needs to take this new kind of politics back to the playground, where it belongs.”
Obama is like an arrested adolescent, insecure and desperate to please. That’s why his angry, spoiled minions relate to him. He’s just like us! He likes Jay-Z and thinks chick jokes are funny! Cool dude.
So, when your parents lose their house or can’t afford your college tuition or that new car you lust for, don’t come whining to us. Or worse…to think of this brat in charge of foreign policy or the economy is truly frightening. And witnessing his attitude toward Hillary and women’s rights, I don’t trust him on that either.
So what reason is there to vote for him again? Oh yea, superior judgment and character, and the ability to “bring people together.” Yea, he’s been really successful with that so far. Thank Axelrod’s marketing strategy–period. Anytime there’s a glimpse of the “true Obama” (eg: in debates, without a teleprompter), people are turned off and his numbers go down. Keep pulling those puppet strings David!
His only attitude toward Hillary was taking her seriously as a competitor.
You folks expect a double standard for women candidates and that’s something that will hurt women running for office in the future, the implication that they are too weak to not being to “take the heat.” Anyone can see that Hillary Clinton was tough and this idea that she was treated oh-so-unfairly undermines her very real strengths.
Well, Obama has shown time and time again he can’t take the heat.
Really!!
Obama chickened out of as many debates and town hall meetings against Hillary as he could during the primaries. Now he’s doing it again with John McCain!!
And we all know why: because Obama doesn’t have a damned productive thing to say!
There will be more debates than there ever have been in American history between presidential candidates - five.
…and Obama will duck as many of ‘em as he possibly can. Just like he did with Hillary.
No, he’s agreed to all of them. They’re all scheduled, but are working on the format. The McCain folks want a lot with the candidates sitting down since he’s so much shorter than Obama.
blech, you’re hardly one to tell anyone what we “should” be doing.
I think part of the problem was that we didn’t speak up earlier in mass. We waited too long for the Dem leaders to say, “Enough.” Well, nobody stood up against the sexism.
Now, they all are racing to the mike over a satirical illustration. Leave Barry alooooooooone!
But they stood by and said nothing while MSN sold Hillary Nutcrackers in their stores.
Obama fostered an atomosphere of sexism. Many of his attacks were couched in sexism. Remember the humiliating drill about how she lied about her Ireland role? Now, her sources were far more credible than his were on that topic, but he got the job done by just finding someone to counter her claim. Then the faux-progressives who follow born-again Republicans like Huffington or KOS did the rest. The next thing you know, she’s really only having tea. That’s blatant sexism. It’s infuriating. It’s unacceptable for Democrats to treat Democrats this way. Yet she got blasted as being too hard on him?
The entire primary season was a farce and unacceptable standards were applied.
He was given a pass. She was pummelled. The entire country watched a woman get abused. And, by the way, the entire country spoke out finally and let the pollsters, their politicians, and everyone know that they saw it, it was wrong, and they didn’t like what went on.
The one good thing to come out of it is that his sexist tactics have ruined his Fall campaign. He couldn’t talk a good share of us into voting for him if he offered us jobs with lifetime benefits at this point.
So he overkilled. And HE will live with the consequences of his poor judgment.
What was sexist about questioning her role in Ireland? Isn’t it the norm to look at what candidates claim? Isn’t that what always happens in campaigns?
You seem to expect that Clinton should have been treated according to a double standard, sort of like different softball rules for girls’ teams. I think she was certainly tough enough to deal with the reality of American politics - it ain’t beanbag.
“You seem to expect that Clinton should have been treated according to a double standard, sort of like different softball rules for girls’ teams.”
Bullshit. Yet again from you.
For Obama, his silly supporters, the scummy MSM and weak-kneed Dems in office, it was OPEN SEASON on Hillary, Bill, their supporters and women in general.
And yet…
Virtually NO ONE truly went after Obama during the primaries!
Why?
You know why.
Obama opposers would have been branded as “racists.”
Now, why in hell does SEXISM get a free pass from Obamaland, but RACISM doesn’t?
Bingo. It still is. Look at the difference between how Bernie Mac’s poor taste was handled versus the *gasp*..The New Yorker.
Lordy, I’m waiting for the Pope to chime in on the cover.
“You folks expect a double standard for women candidates and that’s something that will hurt women running for office in the future, the implication that they are too weak to not being to “take the heat.” Anyone can see that Hillary Clinton was tough and this idea that she was treated oh-so-unfairly undermines her very real strengths.”
This argument is every bit as demeaning and sexist in tone.
It means that the sexism went over your head out of your inability to regard women in equal terms.
The constant references to Hillary’s appearance as relevant to the discussion on air were glaring. How often did the media take note of 0bama’s big ears, purple lips, and at times effete mannerisms?
How about the way the Russert and Williams viciously assaulted Hillary, hammering tough question after tough question, while soft balling the big ‘0′? And when he did have to endure a tough debate with abc’s Gibson and Stephanopoulos 0bama and his supporters whined like babies. Plus, he couldn’t even answer their questions and overtly bristled at the toughness.
But because Hillary showed grace under fire, we’re not supposed to point out the fire.
Fuck that! This sexist shit happened and the media and the 0bama campaign need to be called on it.
I don’t need a double standard. I need a fair standard. I don’t care about hammering any candidate on their issues. I don’t want to hear about cankles, wrinkles, pms, cracks about Hillary reminding white men of their first wives, the sound of her voice or snickers from males about being de-balled.
Just like I think cracks about decorating the WH black or watermelon in the Rose Garden cracks are inappropriate as well.
Frankly, these things are juvenile and don’t speak well to the maturity of the American citizen who engages in them.
I lost all respect for Carl Bernstein over his cankles remark. He is erased from my personal history book with regard to the part he played in Watergate.
This is a legitimate discussion we’re having and I won’t let you dismiss it. We want this dealt with this year so we don’t have to have this conversation again.
So fuck off, blech!
fif — Obama is low class and so is his wife. Those are the facts. To expect someone low class to be a gentleman is an exercise in futility. Remember when Randi Rhodes tried her hand at comedy at an Obama fundraiser and called Hillary and Geraldine Ferraro F’n Bitches. Obama said nothing. That should have given us our first clue.
The thought that Obama should have defended Clinton from attacks is far more patronizing than him having once pulled out her chair.
That attacks should NOT have occurred in the first place.
Have you just started paying attention to politics? Because, you know, attacks always happen. Look back to the terrible things said about Thomas Jefferson by the Adams crew.
Dealing with the inevitable attacks is the very meaning of “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
Right, so Obama please get out of the kitchen, you can’t take the heat.
We will see if that’s so, NOBama. So far he managed to beat the inevitable nominee, the one with 100 superdelegates and $100 million head start in fundraising.
That said, I don’t know what will happen. I was SURE Clinton would win and she’d certainly win by Super Tuesday. Yet Obama walked away from Super Tuesday with more delegates and he went on to win 12 in a row. So it’s perilous to predict.
Knock it off. 12 in a row was a huge joke unless you’re stupid.
He counted Americans Abroad and the Virgin Islands in that meme. In Alaska, there are more elk than votes he garnered.
The fact that the press picked up on that stupid meme embarassed me for them.
He also counted Nevada, although she won.
OK, so how many states in a row did he win? Ten perhaps?
BTW, I read that after NH, the Obama folks started organizing in states like Maine which were coming a few weeks after Super Tuesday. Clinton’s campaign didn’t send anyone to Maine until a week before the contest. Perhaps differences like that made a difference as to who won, eh?
I’m not going to defend that one. Clearly, her campaign struggled at that point. The idiot Obama hired, Patti, had a lot to do with that. It was her job to organize the ground people. She was out of her league, apparently.
However, his win streak was vastly exaggerated, too.
The biggest issue we all have in PUMA is that the leaders in the party misinformed from Day 1 regarding getting more delegates. So? He couldn’t reach the required pledged delegate number.
According to our own party, that meant the perception SHOULD have been that they hit the last primaries in a dead heat.
The SD’s should have felt free to vote according to whatever criteria.
But the entire “he’s ahead, so he’s won, and she should be out before PA meme”which was entirely false, was pushed by our own Dem Party.
Frankly, it apparently was pushed by the party because they didn’t want to upset the AA voters.
Well, OK, but that’s not a good reason to lie to the people about our rules or why the SDs were created.
And we’re not forgetting that they lied.
Daily. On TV. Over and over.
They lied.
The entire bunch of hooligans needs to go:
Kerry, Pelosi, Dean, Brazile, Obama……the entire bunch.
We’re targeting them all. Make no mistake. We aren’t just after Obama and want to see him beat. We’re targeting all of those idiots.
Actually, the Clinton campaign said that the supers should use their judgment. Well, they did - and one thing, I think the most important thing, they considered was who was leading in pledged delegates.
That’s not lying - it’s using a criteria you don’t approve of.
Nope…it was the push by Dean and Pelosi that I object to the most.
The SDs were told that it would be a travesty to put her in if she were behind in pledged delegates.
Even today, his supporters have not helped her reduce the debt because they bought into that meme. She “should have quit” is the perception.
She was done in by Democrats, blech.
And I’m not about to forget that one.
Ever.
The finest candidate, nevermind that she’s a woman, was cut off at the knees because of why?
She’s a Clinton, that’s why.
The party went against the will of the people. She won the popular vote.
And the people are pissed off.
Bill warned that if this happened, Obama would be viewed as illegitimate.
Bill was spot on. That’s Obama’s problem now. He can’t pull the party together. We’re divided and will stay that way. He’s lost 20%, and I think that number will grow. I do. I think he’ll lose 30% by the time the fall hits. (He’ll lose the others due to him being him. Wright, etc.)
But now….now it’s time to focus on downticket. To be effective so that this back-room BS never happens again in my lifetime, we need to unseat those SDs who went against their constituents and backed Obama. We need to give Kerry a run for his money. We need to make sure Pelosi has to campaign hard.
That’s next on our agenda.
blech — actually the super delegates were still undecided when Obama came out and called himself the nominee. He said he got a verbal commitment but when a couple of them were called to confirm they said they never committed to anyone. The story died.
“Kerry, Pelosi, Dean, Brazile, Obama……the entire bunch.
We’re targeting them all. Make no mistake. We aren’t just after Obama and want to see him beat. We’re targeting all of those idiots.”
Damn right.
We’re going going to do our best to flush as many of those turds down the toilet as we can in November.
Party
Unity
My
Ass.
They’d better get their cv ready because they’ll be hitting the bricks soon.
ah….changing the topic because you can’t win? Obama is that you???
Nope. This is believe.
Same talking points. Same style. Same vocabulary.
Yep. It’s believe.
Yes, looks like this topic has really hit a nerve with the Obama supporters.
“We will see if that’s so, NOBama. So far he managed to beat the inevitable nominee.”
Obama didn’t beat Hillary. He (and the DNC) STOLE the nomination.
Even in spite of all of the opposition, all of her haters, all of the well-planned plots against her campaign, Hillary STILL won more votes than ANY OTHER PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY CANDIDATE IN HISTORY.
By contrast, Barack Obama will be noted in history as the first “Affirmative Action” candidate.
And that deeply disturbs me. Because the REAL racists out there witnessed the Democratic nomination being stolen for Obama. As a result, they are now convinced that a Black man (or woman) can’t win a Presidential nomination fair and square. Nor without a “quota” system.
My God you are dense blech! Open your eyes! You have no idea how silly you sound making lame excuses for Obama. Everything you have said and the arguments for Obama can be refuted with FACTS!
We do not deal in EMOTIONAL FACTS here. What we rely on are Concrete, indisputable, recorded, verifiable, unvanished, no-spin faacts.
Not Talking points from Obama surrogates!
“Facts” not Faacts…Oops again!
How’s he doing on his fund raising? $70K down in June? Without an opponent? What’s that about? And. Newsweek’s double digit lead is gone. He.Is.Falling.To.Earth. Faster.Than.He.Left.It. Re-entry.To.Be.Painful!!!!!
McCain’s campaign agreed today with Obama that the illustration on the New Yorker is in bad taste.
Opposition CAN speak out and often does.
Of course, as I say, you wouldn’t speak out when the sub-text of your campaign message is that Hillary is just a lying bitch of a woman, now can you?
And that was his message from Texas on.
When he lost Texas? The rest of his campaign strategy was nasty, nasty, nasty. He lied about her policies. He attacked her as unworthy. He was non-stop negative and used sexism every single day.
See, some of us actually paid attention. We didn’t just go to HuffPo and read their stupid headlines. We actually dug out the stories of the day ourselves.
So the notion that he did not employ sexism will not work. He absolutely did. It’s not a mistake that Bernie Mac thought it was OK to pull out his old worn-out sexist jokes.
Obama cannot undo his actions. We aren’t Chicago neighborhood folks who will overlook it. We know exactly what this joker is all about, and I’m done. I don’t want him in power. I don’t like what I see him doing even now.
He’s rigging the convention to ensure she doesn’t get a rollcall vote.
How insulting is that?
He’s lying to her supporters saying she’s on the short list for VP. Only the stupid ones are buyng it, of course.
He insults our intelligence even now, daily.
Enough of Obama.
He’s not worthy of being president. He pointed his finger and said that about the best candidate for President which America has seen in decades! Well, I point it right back.
He is NOT WORTHY.
You have a point of view and so everything goes through that lens. I understand that.
Yet in exit polls more people said that Clinton used unfair attacks than those who said that about Obama.
By the way, could you give one example of something oh-so-nasty after Texas?
His tax return bit. Just one example. He actually had the gall to say, “What’s she hiding?”
BTW, did the jerk ever give you guys his 2007 returns?
She’s actually more vetted on that issue than he is, the last time I paid attention.
Nice try at deflection, believe.
Nobody here is saying that Obama “should have defended Clinton.”
He definitely should have had some type of statement against the misogyny that ran rampant during the primary. At least, he should of if he wanted the votes of Democratic women. But he didn’t, and he doesn’t. (Just ask Donna B.)
Before you say there was no misogyny during the primary season, I’m a man, and I noticed it.
Clearly this was not the Bernie Mac that Obama knew /sarcasm.
I tend to think that McCain will win FL. But then I read stuff like this and wonder:
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/politics/orl-voters1208jul12,0,466937.story
Registrations aren’t voters.
And I guarantee you that the voters who show up the most, the older voters, will vote Republican.
Crist will win Florida for McCain.
Many - if not most - of those newly registered Democrats between January and May were Hillary supporters, I’ll bet.
After all, Hillary did win Florida during the primaries by a big margin.
But now that Hillary’s been cheated out of the Dem nomination by the DNC after the huge MI/FL delegate debacle, I strongly suspect that John McCain has absolutely nothing to worry about in Florida now.
blech give it a rest. You think the people are going to vote for Obama who tried to keep their votes from being counted? Why don’t you people peddle your propaganda somewhere else. Obama lost Florida. Ohio and Pennsylvania because he can’t stand ordinary people and is not too keen on Democracy either.
Bill Maher is a piece of SHIT!
I never liked the creep and his monologue has always bee laced with sexist rants. I personally do not think he is funny. His show caters to the juveniles in our society. Sad! The dumbing down of our society.
Maher is a disgusting excuse for a man, a Democrat, a comedian and a “thinker.” I would take the opposite position of any he takes just to feel clean.
I’m from Florida. I won’t be voting for Obama because of his disregard for women.
Bernie Mac stuff is just another indicator of Obama’s dislike of women.
I am leaning toward McKinney or Nader.
men hate women, that is just the way it is,one has work all his life to get rid of these feeling.I am a63 old male and ever day that I wake up, I tall myself how great it is, to have woman in my life, all men must do this ever day,or the old feeling come back about women.
lol*……are you for real?
yes
Well, kudos for finding the discipline, then, to quell your hate. LOL*
I love men. Good thing, since I only had brothers and sons.
But then, I opted out of marriage. I wasn’t too keen on the role after a long marriage.
So I’m probably just nostalgic in my memories. *haha
I know why you lol because you know it is true, how many times have you hearda joke about a woman my man to another man that man said that not funny, never.thinl about it lol
I think most men do not really respect women on a lot of levels. I also have observed that they over-respect the mother/lover roles.
I guess I’ve just always found men amusing. They give us entirely too much power, usually.
bullyleemc How very honest of you ^5
I hope his woman moves out before he kills her.
People often accuse me of not standing up for michelle when it comes to sexism. They’re wrong, I threw a fit when Rev Wright talked about black girls giving away “kibbles and bits”. I complained about Rev Wright talking about how for the first time we will have a black women sleeping in the white house legally. I complained when Michelle herself introduced Barack as her babies daddy. And I am again complaining on behalf of Bernie Mac’s allegedly frigid wife who I don’t even know, and the portrayal of michelle as first lady doing the dishes, cleaning, etc. Holding “Tea parties” is what Obama portrayed Hillary’s first lady experience as. I complained about Obama’s pre-emptive dismissal of the value of his wife’s first lady role.
All this sexism is coming from the so called “progressives”, the “left”, the “NeoDems”, whatever you want to call them. You fools, you’re all celebrating sexism towards the wife of your own candidate.
My stance is that I’m nobody’s mother. I just pay attention to my own words and posting.
I TRY to avoid unfair ganging up on Michelle. My own opinion is that she can’t help it. She’s rough around the edges. She’s a bit gangly. Her foot is in her mouth alot.
Obama did well to get a lot of connections, but that doesn’t mean he’s been hanging out with polished people, nor has she.
She’s handicapped apparently. Her remark about not supporting Hillary if she won was the give-away. NO polished politician’s wife on the campaign trail says that. She obviously didn’t know better.
I think the wives of the insiders will help her, and in the long-shot case she does become first lady, I certainly hope they whip her into shape. I don’t wish to see her make a mockery of the White House.
In short, Michelle has potential at this point. She may not make it, however. A lot of them haven’t, and they end up being locked up in teas for the duration.
So we’ll see if she can rise to the challenge.
I really don’t like her, I think she’s a hypocrit and an elitist. I sure don’t want to see her in the white house.
But I am horrified by the sexism directed towards her by people like Bernie Mac, Rev Wright, even Obama himself. He pretends to be outraged and says his wife is off limits, but then he doesn’t speak out when his own supporters say offensive things about her. He’s a major hypocrit, but it still kind of blows me away that doesn’t speak up for his wife or his daughters. I mean does he think his wife is a “ho”? Does he think his babies give away “kibbles and bits”?
Oh, I am calmer today about Bernie. I expressed my outrage and it left. LOL*
Obama was just smoothing things over. Apparently the crowd heckled Bernie off the stage.
That says it all. Bernie got smacked down properly, by the crowd.
Obama issued his statement the next day. OK, but he has no “think-on-your-feet” skill, obviously.
He could have handled that deftly. He can’t, because he’s too earnest.
Whatever…
I am now very plugged into just how we can truly get the discussion of sexism and issues that affect women directly into a different framework. Enough of PC talk, in other words.
I haven’t yet come up with anything. It’s going to emerge, though. I can sense it.
Enough of us keep talking, we’ll get this out!
I know that what bothers me is the deeper sexism, which I saw Obama use against Hillary.
But I can’t figure out how to combat this without the whine factor. Heck, Obama can’t figure out how to combat the racism either without whining.
But there’s a solution, I’m sure.
My head is spinning from the hopium smoke coming from Blech!
Pass the doobie please. The least you can do is share if your going to crash our party…LOL
Ah well, gave me a chance to vent my spleen. LOL*
I can’t sing to the choir!
I posted a video of “MR. BOJANGLES” on my site…That is what I call Obama….Mr. Bojangles!
Just watch him TAP DANCE! LMAO
Sen. McCain isn’t perfect but one can look at his 50 year track record. Who is Obama? What does he stand for? What has he accomplished? Obama followers are projecting onto him some sort of savior who will come and rescue us. But remember: We have only had two Democratic presidents in 50 years!! And Carter lost his second term. If we stick someone in there who doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing, we won’t have another Democratic president for 50 more years. Can”t these Obama followers take a long, historical view? A really bad Democrat could set us back for decades!
Our backs are to the wall. If we don’t get a President who cares about the people then our country is finished. We do not have the time or the patience to teach Obama manners. He is an amateur who cannot do the job he wants so badly. Let him know that his resume does not qualify him for the biggest job in the world. McCain 08
No, we’re not finished.
But the path gets narrower, and it is time to stop being passive and get into action. Well, past time, but then……we’re spoiled Americans.
But no, it’s not too late.
We have plenty of solid ground in America to work from.
We’re fortunate. Truly blessed.
And it’s far from being too late.
It is amazing to me that ANY woman supports Obama given the comments he allows from his supporters against women. It was not just those comments he allowed slip by directed against Hillary but ALL women- not to mention the lower salaries he pays his WOMEN staff. This man is not a friend to women or women’s causes and it is SCARY that he is appealing to women on a more seductive level than on their dignity.
The only thing I can figure out is that a lot of the feminist writers really aren’t like a lot of us. They never bumped into reality much.
I don’t know about you guys, but I was a 70’s girl. We thought we could do it all. Career, marriage, family, you name it!
And then life happened.
Feminism isn’t an “issue” with me. It was my lifestory.
I got a bug in my bonnet and decided to crack the corporate world. I made it to middle management. Not bad. Not impressive, either. I was knocked down so often, had my work stolen, got blistered by my own female traits of being a team player and too idealistic, got more than a few lessons about the need to take a deep breath and learn to speak up. IN short, corporate taught me to grow up. I really was under the illusion that if you worked hard and were loyal, you’d be rewarded. LOL*
Good girl here.
So feminism, for me, is about a lot more than Roe VS. Wade for me.
That’s academic thinking, in my opinion. And, frankly, irrelevant.
I’m a lot more concerned about how we’re going to enforce Family Leave, for example. Even today, it’s ignored without much teeth to it.
I’m really concerned about health care. We’ve got way too many families without proper care.
Health care is more vital to me than birth control, and I’m ashamed of making Viagra an issue.
Lordy, how low can we go?
They say COMETH THE HOUR COMETH THE MAN. They don’t say Cometh the hour cometh the insecure middle age man who wants to be a Rock Star president — has no idea what he believes and is still working on his feelings about his own mother. Puleeeeeze
Karma in action, and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving misogynist:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/14/obama-campaign-manager-ai_n_112558.html
I bet that guy Bernie Mac is also on the “down low,” like Obama allegedly is. I can imagine all those married black men commiserating w/each other about their controlling, “menopausal” wives who don’t give them b/j anymore. So they service each other while smoking crack and dreaming about becoming presidents. I am sure that Michelle Obama is already seen (comment by Mac about the “black first lady”) as a castrating and pre-menopausal “ho” by these guys.
And another thing:
Bernie Mac sounds like the typical moron who expects good sex while he ’s probably been a lousy lay all his life, but he never found out because his wife didn’t want to hurt the poor pussycat’s tender feelings. LOL
And the last thing:
Actually Hillary, even though she was never a classical beauty, at this point she is better looking and well-preserved than Bill; the guy is full of deep wrinkles, crooked teeth, and red face. And the worse thing for him, is that this time he wasn’t the one running for president.
A most observant post and very right on. It seems that as a comedian, a rapper, or talk show host, if you have nothing intelligent or funny to say, you resort to vulgarity or insulting women.
This is an excellent post ANIN! THANKS for the insights and links.
Obama has played the Misogynist card all along, together with the race-baiting card. Both pushed him to a fraudulent finish-line. The media fratboys gave him a big assist from behind.
Remember BHO’s ’snub’ of HIllary? His “her claws are coming out” “periodically, she feels moody, low and attacks..” and his youtube insult:
“OBAMA GIVES HILLARY THE F!NGER” day after his pathetic Pa. Debate? He has no respect for women any more than that moron Bernie Mac. And admonishing him and in the next sentence apologizing for telling him to ‘clean his act NEXT TIME’?
Obama showed his true colours by saying “I’M JUST MESSING WITH YOU MAN”
Obama’s presidency would offer women and girls only one viable career option: PROSTITUTION.
So, bros before Hos anyday for the Obama gang!
SHAME ON YOU, OBAMA! YOU DON’T DESERVE OUR VOTE!
GO TO KENYA AND GET A JOB AS V-P WITH YOUR SHARIA LAW COUSIN BILLIONAIRE SLUMLANDLORD MR. ODINGA!
YOU BELONG THERE….
YOU AIN’T NO KENNEDY, YOU SHMUCK! YOU’RE A GODDAM SEXIST PIG WITH A SKINNY RESUME.
YOU ARE CHANCEY THE GARDENER…
go see Peter Seller’s “Being There”. You’ll see this fraudster….
How can anybody wonder why there are PUMAs?
Exactly.
