Obama’s Acorn: A Leftist Social Reform Group. Part II

On July 5th, I wrote an article outlining Obama’s connection to a group called ACORN. New information has recently come to light about more of ACORN’s illegal activities. ACORN has now been connected to money laundering, misuse of taxpayer funds and embezzlement as well as the voter fraud. The original three states I wrote about in Part I of this story turns out to be three of at least a dozen states in which ACORN has apparently committed voter fraud.
Money Laundering
The money laundering that was identified by the Consumer Rights League was released in a report in June 2008. The money laundering occurred in 1996 and involved the Teamster’s Union, causing the president’s election to be thrown out by federal authorities. ACORN’s Project Vote, which is tied to voter fraud, received $175,000 to perform a “non-partisanship” get-out-the-vote activity. Project Vote was to target votes that benefitted the Clinton campaign, congressional and senatorial races.
Misuse of Taxpayer Funds
The misuse of taxpayer funds has been going on for more than three decades with the first instance reported in 1977. It was connected to the federal program, Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA). ACORN had been awarded a federal grant for $470,000 to train volunteers to assist low income people. Congress investigated ACORN finding they had used these funds for labor organizing and not training employees.
The second instance happened during the Clinton administration and involved the follow-up program to VISTA, Americorps, a federal program begun in 1993 that absorbed VISTA. In 1994, a federal grant worth more than $1 million was awarded to a subsidiary of ACORN, the ACORN Housing Corp. At some point their “use “ of taxpayer funding came into question. The Inspector General of Americorps undertook an investigation. The investigation revealed that there were questionable transactions charged to AHC by ACORN or other ACORN-related organizations. They found that AHC was founded to serve both organizations. The grant was revoked.
Embezzlement by an Employee
The embezzler wasn’t just any embezzler, his name is Dale Rathke, brother of Wade Rathke, founder of ACORN. The brother embezzled nearly one $1 million from “ACORN and affiliated charitable organizations” according to the July 9, 2008 New York Times article. The embezzlement remained hidden until a ”whistle-blower” forced ACORN to disclose it.
A small group of executives decided to cover up the fraud. They did this by carrying the $1 million on the books of Citizen Consulting, Inc., which is the accounting end of ACORN. Wade Rathke said his brother signed a secret agreement saying the family would make restitution .in exchange for hiding the embezzlement.
When Wade was asked about the decision to keep the fraud secret, this is the explanation he gave to the New York Times: “The decision to keep the matter secret was not made to protect his brother but because of word of the embezzlement would have put a ‘weapon’ into the hands of enemies of ACORN.” According to Wade, he had no idea his brother was committing fraud until alerted by an employee of Citizens Consulting concerning “suspicious credit card transactions”.
Both Wade and his brother remained on staff with ACORN until last month. Wade stepped down from ACORN but remains as the head organizer for ACORN International LLC. ACORN is now under the watchful eye of an interim management panel with the Executive Director of New York ACORN, Bertha Lewis, named as director.
(It is important to note that ACORN has been lobbying for the housing bill to pass since it would provide more financial gains or “slush funds” for them according to the online Wall Street Journal. However in light of the embezzlement they have fell silent.)
Revisiting Voter Fraud
In my original article I uncovered three states that reported voter fraud linked to Project Vote, ACORN’s non-partisanship voter registration. Three states is an underwhelming number when they have been implicated in voter fraud in at least a dozen states. According to CRL. From 2003 until 2007, they were involved in voter fraud in the following states, Colorado, Virginia, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Nevada just to name a few more of the states ACORN has visited.
ACORN’s Illegal Activity Continues Today
In summary we know that ACORN is linked to money laundering (more on this in Obama and Acorn Part III), misuse of grant money, embezzlement and voter fraud.
What we actually see is what the Consumer Rights League
found – “taxpayer money supported Corporate shakedown tactics, counseling of potential home buyers to use “undocumented” or “under the table” income to obtain mortgages and obtaining mortgages for undocumented workers”.
Despite the whopping $25,000 fine by the State of Washington, ACORN has continued to commit voter fraud in almost every state Project Vote has visited. In March 2008 in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, ACORN was linked to “bad voter registration cards”, they wanted to investigate but I have found no more information on an investigation. In June 2008 alone there were 90 voter registration cards stolen from ACORN in Las Cruces, NM and Project Vote admitted that 35% of all voter registration cards turned into Louisiana officials were duplicates.
Just when you think it can’t get any worse it does. On two subsequent days in this month alone, July 6 and 7, two more investigations are underway, one in Dauphin County, PA and one in Clark County, Nevada. In Nevada they are seeing 2000-3000 voter fraudulent voter registration cards turned in every week by ACORN.
Congress and Its Duty to investigate
The Consumer Rights League has its on agenda. It doesn’t like the housing bailout bill being offered up in the House (HR 3221), but it has started a petition to pressure to put pressure on Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA), Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, to hold hearings on the fraud committed by ACORN.
They have even suggested some fixes to the problem with ACORN and its fuzzy accounting methods and funneling of money from one entity to another. CRL has suggested three remedies to prevent further abuses of the governmental system by groups like ACORN. They are calling for “increased transparency” (requiring annual audits). They also said there is a need for “organization firewalls” (something missing from ACORN) and finally hit them in the pocketbook with “increased penalties for misuse of public funds”.
ACORN’s continued fraudulent behavior does highlight a problem within our federal government. It shows that we don’t hold organizations like ACORN up to the light. No doubt things need to be changed. ACORN does need to be investigated. Are these the things Obama wants to change?
I am left with some questions after exposing so much more about ACORN. How much does Obama know about ACORN? Did Obama use ACORN in his bid for the presidency? If Obama did use ACORN, how much money did he pay them and who was it paid to? ACORN has 74 subsidiaries. Which subsidiary did Obama pay?

ACORN helped Obama commit voter fraud in the caucus states.
Obama…just wants to be President and with his track record of not really ever doing anything..but these writings tell us a lot about this man, and if you haven’t read them you should before you vote for him.
But again if he is struggling so hard to become the President, why doesn’t he get someone who can really work and accomplish things and get our country back on track. It is simply, the obvious. Have Senator Clinton as the VP, gain credibility, lay out a true course for Iraq and shut down the republicans come November. Easy..
If Obama chooses Senator Clinton, the countrys choice as the President as his VP we will vote for him. If he chooses someone with a background like his we will either not vote, see who is running as an Independent, or vote for McSame.
Between the two, at least McSame is a wear hero, that does not make him qualified to run the country anymore than it makes my brother qualified. However, he at least has been there, and knows what war is about, and Obama hasn’t a clue, and never has had to get his hands dirty.
No fucking way am I voting for Obama, if he is top of the ticket, even with Hillary as his VP. I even have problems voting for Hillary with Obama as the VP now that I know more about him. Michelle would put poison in Hillary’s tea. McCain’s war service demonstrate’s his love of this country. That should be one of the qualifications for President. Aside from that, McCain has an impressive record of military, legislative and personal accomplishments that recommend him to the highest position in the land. I would easily vote for him over Obama, even if Obama were the bottom of a Clinton ticket.
Nobama. No way. never. Not as POTUS, not as VPOTUS! Nothing. Is everyone paying attention??? DNC? SDs? I will nto vote for Obama for anything. Nothing. And IL should run him out on a rail!

I believe that most people here (trolls excluded) think that Clinton would be the best choice for President, Obama the worst choice, and McCain is acceptable only if we can’t have Clinton.

If it were Clinton and someone else, not Wesley Clark now, definitely not Obama, I would vote for her over McCain. I would vote for Clinton / Bayh (maybe) or Clinton / Strickland.

On Sunday CNN aired an interview Barack Obama recently gave to Fareed Zakaria, in which the candidate expressed the opinion that Islamic jihad is a result of U.S. foreign policy failure. This is, of course, an assumption that he shares with virtually everyone of any influence in both parties. It is conventional wisdom that the United States, or the West in general, can make the global jihad problem go away by doing something that is not being done now, or by stopping doing something else. The possibility that the jihad might have arisen not as a reaction to actions of America and the West — and cannot be ended by our actions, either, with the possible exception of overwhelming military and cultural force — never seems to occur to anyone.
Zakaria asked Obama: “Do you believe, when looking at the world today, that Islamic extremism is the transcendent challenge of the 21st century?” In reply Obama spoke of “terrorism and groups that are resisting modernity,” as if Islamic jihadists were Amish with AK-47s, and avowed that “the fact that they can be driven into extremist ideologies, is one of the severe threats that we face.”
How can such people be driven into extremist ideologies? Obama explained that when he was a child Indonesia, “Indonesia was never the same culture as the Arab Middle East. The brand of Islam was always different.” And “around the world,” he said, “there was not the sense that Islam was inherently opposed to the West, or inherently opposed to modern life, or inherently opposed to universal traditions like rule of law.”
Of course, the problem in the world today is not an opposition of “Islam” to the “rule of law.” It is the resurgence of the Islamic supremacist ideology that has led to a global attempt to replace non-Muslim legal systems with Islamic sharia law — an attempt that is making great headway in Europe and is also going on in the United States, both by violence and by stealth.
In any case, Obama went on to say that Indonesia had changed since he had lived there: “And now in Indonesia, you see some of those extremist elements. And what’s interesting is, you can see some correlation between the economic crash during the Asian financial crisis, where about a third of Indonesia’s GDP was wiped out, and the acceleration of these Islamic extremist forces.”
In other words, poverty causes Islamic jihad. This is an extremely widespread view, although it has been debunked many times. Fortune magazine, for example, reported in March 2007 that “of the 50 poorest countries in the world…only Afghanistan (and perhaps Bangladesh and Yemen) has much experience in terrorism, global or domestic.” The 9/11 hijackers were “middle-class sons of Saudi Arabia and many were well-educated. And Osama bin Laden himself is from one of the richest families in the Middle East.” Fortune noted that a 2003 study of Palestinian terrorism found “higher-status respondents (merchant, farmer or professional)” were significantly more likely than “those lower down the ladder (laborer, craftsman or employee)” to agree that there were “circumstances under which you would justify the use of terrorism to achieve political goals.” And Harvard professor Albert Abadie studied 1,776 terrorist incidents, only to find no connection between poverty and terrorism: “When you look at the data” to find such a connection, he said, “it’s not there.”
And indeed, Obama himself was not ready to blame jihad solely on poverty: “It isn’t to say that there is a direct correlation.” He said it was also the West’s fault: “But what is absolutely true is that there has been a shift in Islam that I believe is connected to the failures of governments and the failures of the West to work with many of these countries, in order to make sure that opportunities are there, that there’s bottom-up economic growth.”
So according to Obama, the “shift in Islam” doesn’t have anything to do — or anything significant to do — with imperatives within Islam itself, or with changes in conditions in the Islamic world that have allowed for a resurgence of the jihad ideology. That resurgence is all because of the “failures of the West to work with many of these countries” — although we are pouring billions into Egypt and Pakistan and they are still hotbeds of jihadist sentiment.
Obama made a recommendation: “But what we also want to do is to shrink the pool of potential recruits. And that involves engaging the Islamic world rather than vilifying it, and making sure that we understand that not only are those in Islam who would resort to violence a tiny fraction of the Islamic world, but that also, the Islamic world itself is diverse.”
Wouldn’t it also be useful to understand that there is an expansionist and supremacist imperative shared by all orthodox sects and schools of Islam, and that some Muslims will most likely continue to act upon that imperative no matter how much we demonstrate our understanding of Islamic diversity?
Although he continues to campaign under a mantra of “change,” so far Obama is offering more of the same in a field – that of our response to the global jihad – where genuine, informed and careful change is needed more than ever.

The most interesting thing I read was when Fareed asked Obama about what he remembered most about living in Indonesia. Obama said it was when his Mother told him she had married a man from Indonesia and we were moving there. Looks like learning that was quite shocking to Obama, really rocked his world, and with good reason. ACORN has never been accused of voter fraud. Voter fraud is when someone shows up and votes in an illegal fashion. That’s not the problem that ACORN and voter reg groups have. Most voter reg projects pay people by registration – meaning, for every person who registers, you get paid. What that inevitably leads to is people filling out false registration forms to get paid. Either they make up names entirely, or they pull names out of the phone book. Neither can lead to voter fraud. The Post office does not deliver voter IDs to people whom they have no good reason to believe live at that address. Once the voter ID goes back to the county, that voter is off the rolls.
The charges against ACORN have been pressed by the rightwing who have no interest in the people voting, whom ACORN registers.
Fair game on the embezzlement, but you need to define for these articles how this voter fraud took place and what the evidence of the fraud was – and fraudulent applications is not fraudulent voting.

It is not an attempt at fraudulent voter activity – that’s the point. This is happens in all voter reg drives – all of them. And I’ve run and worked voter reg drives many times over the years.
Once you’re paying people to register voters, you always have people doing this. I registered with a Republican voter reg group when I moved and they crossed out my Dem registration and replaced with Republican registration so they could get a dollar.
We shouldn’t be acting like Republicans. ACORN is a big citizens action group which does a lot of good. Just because Obama was with them doesn’t make them corrupt or bad. They may be more progressive than a lot of people here, but they are a group that does a lot of good particularly in rural areas.

On 15 July 2008, B. Hussein Obama obliquely took credit for America’s successes in Iraq and made victory in Afghanistan, the easier of the two fronts against terrorism, a campaign issue. Billing his speech as a “major policy statement,” the liberal U.S. Senator effectively dismissed everything accomplished by our troops, individuals, institutions and individuals in the war on terror. Eloquently, albeit deceitfully, the untested want-to-be exploited the sacrifices of others and pandered to the safety in numbers NATO has committed to Afghanistan in his policy statement.
Earlier in the month, specifically on 2 July, in Denver another cat, or maybe a socialist gorilla size organization under an Obama administration, should he get elected, was let out of the bag. The young senator from Illinois explained that a volunteer “Civilian National Security Force” was needed to augment our existing security forces. Connecting dots from B. Hussein Obama’s past leads the average beer drinker to conclude that he is now organizing the nation like he did the neighborhood in Chicago. Concern is, however, he, Obama, has been and, apparently, still is an ardent student of Saul Alinsky, a communist organizer that, ironically, also lived in Chicago..
The world has had lots of experience with youth oriented Civilian National Security Force type organizations, over the last 65 years. In the early 1930s, Hitler’s Third Reich formed the Hitler Jugend that was nothing more than a mind control incubator that helped the Nazis kill 20 million people. Soon after Mao Tse Tung gained control of mainland China his communist party turned his young fanatics loose with their little red books to “re-educate’ the masses. It has been conservatively estimated that 50 million Chinese died from their “re-education.” After the Mullahs gained control of Iran in 1979, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini formed the Basijii, to force non-believers into following the edicts, or fatwas of the Mullahs and Ayatollahs. At this point, it is difficult to estimate the number of mutilations and deaths the Mullahs and Ayatollahs can claim credit for. Last but not least, just the other side of the Panama Canal Hugo Chavez has his “security forces” that are tailored after his friend’s playmates in Cuba.
So, along comes this silver-tongued devil, B. Hussein Obama, that wants to be the President of The United States and plans to form a “Civilian National Security Force,” and he is a known “gun-grabber.” It is, consequently, certainly starting to appear that the American people need to start asking the young senator from Illinois some very pointed questions. The first question that needs to be asked in a very public forum is: Are you a communist, because you sure sound like one? Should you be elected, who would have oversight of the Civilian National Security Force that you are proposing? You, just by chance? Would one of the tasks given to your Civilian National Security Force be, just by chance, to ‘get guns off the street’?
Combined with the above and the possible illegal tactics used to win caucuses in the Mid-West, the suspicious super-delegate deals that put Hillary out of the primary race and the crooks, anarchists and rich Iraqis in your court causes Americans to be just a little concerned. That said, the American people want and need you to answer some questions and need you to stop trying to do the old soft shoe routine. Unlike you and your well-educated wife, Michelle, most Americans have not had the benefit of a Harvard education and need to figure out just who the hell you really are.

I don’t know anything about ACORN, but I do know that many government grant programs are plagued by waste and fraud. If Obama’s suggestion to increase grants to faith-based initiatives were to be undertaken, the kind of abuse described here would be multiplied many times over.
If Obama worked with ANY grant programs during his time in Chicago, he knows this. He probably knows that the federal government would have to reform its system of oversight for many of these programs and would be doing us all a service if he eliminated many of them.
If he were honest, he would have spelled out in detail all of these types of concerns.
But he is not honest…not even close.
No way would I recommend Obama’s faith based “GOD DAMN AMERICA” initiative program.

Sorry but they have been found guilty of voter fraud. They were fined $25,000 by the State of Washington. The then Secretary of State said “it was one of the worse cases of voter fraud in the state’s history”….fraudulent applications in most states is voter fraud. How about wrong addresses. Homeless in NC are required to draw maps (it was never done and ACORN said we didn’t know)and on and on. The State of Pennsylvania in investigating voter fruad there. Nevada is as well. The examples of voter fraud are in the first article.

One other comment ACORN is under investigation in the state of Ohio for wage and labor violations. They barely pay the minimum wage but insist on a “living wage” of $12 per hour. Your sure they are the good guys?

It’s my understanding that ACORN is going into prisons and registering criminals who have not been convicted yet. If the election is before their felony trial, they can vote. This means that child molesters, killers, rapists and other assorted beasts nobody wants to live next door to can vote for Barack Obama.

Moreover, the states of Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin each recently have investigated, and on due occasion, convicted ACORN members for vote fraud. The leadership of ACORN doesn’t seem fazed. Why should they? The Democratic Party and organized labor are the organization’s prime beneficiaries. Obama has been going around having his people going out gett the votes.They carry paper with them as well.What are they.Oh I guess they are voteing before the time.What I now hear is that many people are being hired to walk around to these get out the votes so they can catch them at it.hey will be all around some have taken their own free time to do this.Well can’t wait to see this caught in action.
