The media used the 2000 Election to set themselves up as the “kingmaker”, remarking how friendly and folksy and down-to-earth Bush was but using terms like aloof and intellectual when describing Gore. Where Bush was “personable”, Gore was “standoffish”.

I think the best evidence of your theory is reflected in Bacrackhead Oblowme’s newly released fundraising numbers- the average donation decreased from an average of $100 in February (his previous highest raising month) to $68 in June (his 2nd highest month).

The scientific evidence clearly shows that the Twin Towers came down by controlled demolition. If they weren’t set up as part of the attack on 9/11, then they were pre-wired perhaps as a direct result of the first attack on the Twin Towers. That would be a plausible explanation if the Port Authority or whoever thought that the structural stability of the Towers would be so undermined by any reattack that it would be “cost-effective” and/or safer to bring the Towers down by controlled demolition rather than bear the cost of either repair or piecemeal demolition. In any case, the order to demolish the buildings would have had to have come from the top and whoever gave it has blood on his hands.
As for the money pouring in Obama’s campaign, I myself don’t pay a whole lot of attention to numbers because they can always, repeat ALWAYS be manipulated. I think it is obvious by looking at the big picture that there is some serious power, which in this day and age means money, behind Obama. How else could a nobody nothing from the back streets of Chicago get the political support he has. It isn’t because of his so-called charisma, talent, accomplishments, oratorical skills, wisdom, honor, or any substantive character or quality.
He is a paid puppet.

I never knew or felt the depth of Anything But Clinton until primaries unfolded this year…came as one of many earsplitting shockwaves.
Not sure if BO sabotaged the also-ran’s campaigns - I think they ALL ganged up on Hillary after she consistently hit it outta the park in the debates - The ‘guys’ couldn’t take it so they piled on. At first, it wasn’t that obvious…but by the last debate - when all were still on stage - it was clear not even Biden would support her.
She won by all measures with her hands tied behind her back and only Bill, Chelsea, her campaign team and US!
The Act Republican part is chilling.
Obama was not behind it, but he benefited and LET it stand.
It became crystal clear when they were down to three: the MSM ignored Edwards out of the race so they could get their Black Man vs. White Woman match that they wanted. And divide the two biggest constituencies the Dems have.
I think they see it more like “We have complete faith that Obama is going to be the right President, so we support any means to get to the ends of having the ‘right president’ elected”.
The trouble is, it does seem to take blind faith to not see why he is not suitable for this job!
I remember reading on Open Left about how he agreed with Digby that even though Obama’s Health Care Plan was sadly lacking, once they got him elected they could hold his feet to the fire to get a better one.
I wrote a comment about how he kicked the South Side voters to the curb after he was elected to the state senate, then he kicked the anti-war activist to the curb after he got elected to the US Senate and I asked them what on earth made them think they could hold Obama’s feet to the fire. Kicked to the curb/tossed under the bus, think of the list I could make now.
Thing is I’m not smart nor did I follow politics that much, I just recognized an Obama when I saw one.
Good point, Betty. I was sneery and dubious from the start when they were swooning over a mediocre speech at the 2004 convention, but I watched and waited. And sure enough….the second Obama hit the US Senate, same old, same old. No fiery antiwar stance, nothing. So I was majorly unimpressed.
Then, when Edwards led the way to boycott the Fox debate, Obama the waffler kept his finger in the air measuring which way the wind blew before FINALLY getting on board….some leader. I was justified in sneery and unimpressed.
It wasn’t until he gave that interview trashing the Clinton presidency and extolling REAGAN and Reagan’s SOUTHERN STRATEGY and called Hillary “likable enough” that I knew I detested him….and subsequent research has borne out that he is the rankest of opportunists and a fraud.
If the public doesn’t see it on TV or in the headlines they don’t ever see it until it’s too late. We are a small portion of the voting public and we are the ones who care enough to really research the facts. If the message doesn’t get out, in a big, obvious, loud, meaningful blast then it will be a tough go for McCain due to OB campaign and behind the scene financiers. He better fight fire with fire and start soon. As has been stated, this probably won’t happen until after the conventions. The general public is not tuning in to most of the stuff going on now and won’t unless it is plastered all over the media. We are the lucky ones who know already why OB should never get near the WH. I sure hope we can get our message across to some voters who don’t have accesss to the things we have access to. Hope this is successful and I for one am trying hard to convey this to everyone I can. If Hillary somehow got back into the race as the dem candidate then things will change because everyone knows her and her record without having to broadcast it everywhere. She and McCain are well known. OB can still hide because no one knows him yet and all they see is the glare. He and his minions can still sneak in the shadows to do bad things to our country and what we believe in. People need to know and right now.
This is true, chris, but the heartbreaking thing is how our compatriots in the so-called REALITY-BASED community, refused to look at the facts, vet, research and THINK, choosing instead to embrace a FRAUD just like the Bushites did, simply because he was SOLD as their BRAND.

I was called (at work, no less) by an Obamabot asking for money. He was very pushy and wouldn’t say exactly how he got my work phone number. I said “I don’t take political calls at work so please mail me an envelope to send a contribution.” He wanted me to commit to an amount on the phone. He literally argued with me, refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer. It went on for … well, it would’ve gone on forever if I hadn’t ended the call.
I think this is one way they cook their numbers. They try to force people to commit to a number on the phone, and just like the public radio stations with their pledges, they can now “count” that contribution even if there’s no check in the bank, or even in the mail.

In previous elections these things were never necessary. The candidates were people that were well known. They were governors, senators and military heroes. Some we knew by the family name, Kennedy, Roosevelt, Bush. Some were known because they had been a Vice-President: Truman, Bush, Johnson, Nixon. I realize that just being well-known does not necessarily make a good President, but it does give a point of reference. If the candidate was not well known, the press, I mean real journalists like Mike Wallace and Dan Rather, made it their business to find out everything about a candidate from the moment of birth till the date the candidate signed the form to run for President. Wallace and Rather upset a lot of people, but we didn’t wonder for long about candidates.
This year the democratic party is asking us to accept their presumptive nominee with a slim, almost nonexistent resume. It seems that his largest accomplishment is running for President. It has certainly consumed more of his time than any other job he has had. Voting present or not voting at all, because you don’t want to take a stand, does not look good on a resume. Staying in a church for 20 years and not hearing what was said, does not look good on a resume. Hanging around with pentagon bombers and kick-back artists, does not look good on a resume. Showing a fake birth certificate (it has been proven fake by professional graphic artists) on your web site does not look good on a resume. Having your wife say your mother was unmarried when you were born, thereby disputing your fake birth certificate, does not look good on a resume.
When a person puts themselves out there to apply for the hardest, most important job in the United States of America, “We the People” want to see that application and resume. “We the People” want to call former employers and references and ask about that person. “We the People” want to see that legitimate birth certificate. We the people” could care less if the person was born to a single mother, “We the people” just want the truth. THAT’S IT!
The thing that has been sadly lacking since Barack Obama chose to run for President of the United States is the truth. Just tell me the truth and I will decide if I want to vote for you or not. Most candidates who are native born citizens develop quite a public paper trail in almost half a century. Barack Obama, citizen of Hawaii for 14 years, traveled to a foreign country and lived there for 4 years with virtually NO paper trails other than that “officially ” released by his campaign. How is this possible?
Every other “babyboomer” (yes, Barack Obama is one of the majority) is followed by a long papertrail even if they never left their hometown. Pile that papertrail into a tower and you could bury its owner - but Barack Obama is uncluttered by the detritus that follows every other citizen. The question is not why but how he did it when you and I and every other citizen is subject to proving we aren’t a “terrorist” every time we step on a plane because until 2004 Barack Obama was just another anonymous citizen.

I’m not certain that throwing Axelrod into the mix strengthens your argument. Axelrod did work for Obama’s senatorial campaign in 2004 and for Edwards in 2004. Granted, it’s been suggested there is some bad blood between Axelrod and Edwards, although it is suggested only.
Regarding the FEC error related to Edwards’ $400 hairstyle, even I saw it in the FEC report. I’m not certain it was leaked by the Obama camp. It was flat out carelessness by the Edwards team. Even Mrs Clinton had expensive hairstyling done during her last Senate run, and the campaign paid for it. But it would have been considered sexism if the media, whom at the time, considered her their “girl”, to borrow from her opening remarks in Chicago at a AFL-CIO event.
The better argument is more about the detraction of the media and the blogs concerning the cover of the New Yorker, and the analysis that Lizza did in the story. I am not certain Obama’s team wanted folks to actually read the story, but even if this was not the case, the New Yorker made a coup by selling more copies over a tasteless cover that probably offended more American Muslims as much as it did the Left.

Ayers put Obama on the Board at the Woods Fund and made Obama Chairman of the ANNENBERG CHALLENGE GRANT. Why doesn’t Obama brag about this Executive Position on his Website? They had $110 million to improve education in Chicago, the most important position of power he ever had. I would love to see the MSM cover this portion of Obama’s life.

My belief is that these important reforms were instantiated (job & housing discrimination outlawed, affirmative action in education implemented, opening up the media and sports and politics to people of color leading to more-than-equal positive representation in those areas), and that life for everyone is better as a result.
Now Reverend Wright hits the scene and I see I am still hated by a proportion of the population for what my ancestors did, no matter what reforms were put in place. THAT does not follow logically from the necessary reforms that were implemented. A whole lot of black people were living perfectly happy lives until Barack Obama came along and started whispering ugliness in their ears for his own political advancement.
I imagine that if I had a pastor who ranted every Sunday about how badly the Irish were treated by the English, or an Irish candidate who used such methods to get my vote, I might develop a big old chip on my shoulder, and imagine that I’d be a rich person if only the English weren’t so evil, and that if I just vote for this Irish guy the heavens will open and transport me to wealth and happiness.

How much of the $52 mil is/will be subject to auditing? if obama raised $52mil the majority was raised outside the bounds of the campaign finance laws. I would not buy a stock based on unaudited financial statements (as a matter of fact the sec requires listed companies to have audited financials), if i were a bank i would not lend money without reviewing audited financials statements, if i go to jiffy lube and get a $500 bill for an oil change i am going to want to review the bill. If a candidates ability to raise money is a indication of his/her popularity thus ability to get elected — I want an audited or at last a cursory review of the amounts.
