The Bomb of Pearl Harbor?

Dude. You were raised in Hawaii. Honolulu to be precise. Did you fail to visit Pearl Harbor? WTF??? I thought folks were ginning up an internet goof when word started circulating that you told an audience about “THE BOMB THAT FELL ON PEARL HARBOR.” Here’s the quote:

“…..Throughout our history, America’s confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier, from the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor, to the threat of nuclear annihilation. Americans have adapted to the threats posed by an ever-changing world. “

And here’s the YouTube:

First you get confused about the number of states (correct answer, 50, not 58). But this?

There were lots of bombs. Torpedos too. There was one bomb that obliterated the USS Arizona. But it was preceded and succeeded by hundreds of other bombs. Buy the man, World War II for Dummies or something. Maybe we can rename it, WW II So That Even Barry Obama Understands. Of course, we then have to hope–HOPE I SAY–that he takes time to read.

Larry, what did Obama mean when he said…

Obama: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

here is one of the pieces on it?

Sorry, great piece, we all know it was not just one bomb…He does not think before he speaks…

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-07-18 23:23:45

The big problem with this is Obama was not speaking ad lib… This was a PREPARED SPEECH he read from a teleprompter.

Not only did the O’boy flub a major time in US History, his Obot speech writers flubbed it also…

Only if he’s too stupid to be President.

This country can’t afford another Ivy League speech monkey.

Comment by steven Mather | 2008-07-19 12:00:18

Obama’s unsuitability for the presidency rests on more serious issues than a tiny flub in a speech. I have a daily calendar of Bush’s speech flubs. We all make them. It’s fun to jibe Obama, because he has been blown up to be a great speaker, and he is only quite good when using a teleprompter, but this is a non-issue.

Even Yaz can have a point sometimes. A broken clock is right two times a day.

HELLO!

It’s that he didn’t catch it.

That’s the dumbass part.

He’s just another speech monkey.

Words do mean something.

Like if you’re too stupid to speak and think at the same time.

America’s confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier,

This is poorly worded. It is disjointed and vague. It looks like a “fill in the blank sentence” where undescriptive nouns were sprinkled it.

Comment by chris | 2008-07-19 09:43:42

Maybe it was just an outline and he had to fill in and ad lib. We know how good he is a that! NOT. His command of facts off the top of his head is non-existent which makes me question his ability for quick thinking in a crisis. Another reason I do not want him as my President. He’d have to have a baby sitter 24/7 and who the hell knows who that might be. I’m scared to even think about it.

Comment by Ellen D | 2008-07-19 10:28:00

Maybe it was a typo on the teleprompter. Perhaps there may be more errors in the future which he will dutifully read without thinking. Great plan Republicans - it wouldn’t have worked for Hillary.

Neither he nor his puppeteers have judgment to even give a proper speech in a proper place.

I, too, was hoping not to have to switch off the set as was the case with W. It’s terrible, the image the message, the background, stinky is despicable, a true horror. I now find that listening to W speak is somewhat comforting and rational. Unbelievable.

Once again, the Messiah proved with his ignorance that his faux holiness, like his moronic drones and trolls, is a complete, blubbering idiot. He truly is a worthy successor to the current cretin occupying the White House.

Comment by FloridaDem | 2008-07-19 09:29:11

I like your wording, Joe.

While the complete blubbering idiot doesn’t mangle the language half as badly as Dubya does, he is surprisingly BAD for someone who supposedly graduated with honors, huh?

Now, that’s the ONLY ‘nice’ thing you’ll ever hear me say about Osnotma.

Comment by fif | 2008-07-19 10:18:11

That’s the only reason there is this ridiculous and disproportionate swooning over very pompous speech he makes. We have had to endure almost 8 years of a president who can’t put a sentence together, so ANYONE else looks articulate. I have never found BO’s speeches interesting or original. And without a teleprompter, as in the debates, he is awful, stumbling, hemming and hawing.

Comment by georgiapeach | 2008-07-19 10:32:50

If Dubya slowed his speech patterns down with all the um, uuuuhhhhhh’s, and and and stutters, he might not mangle it as badly either.

Comment by Steve | 2008-07-19 06:17:11

What makes matters worse is that it was a speech, written on paper, projected on teleprompters. So, someone did a poor job upfront and he did a poor job, reading it out.

I mean, have you listened to the tape? This guy arrogantly claims that he gives ’some darn/pretty good speeches’, but so far I still wait for a good speech, delivered in a compelling way.

Comment by MEchelle Hates America! | 2008-07-19 07:37:29

Obama Doesn’t Understand Role of Joint Chiefs: Will MSM Take Note?
By Mark Finkelstein (Bio | Archive)
July 14, 2008 - 17:35 ET

A couple days ago at the gym, listening to a Hugh Hewitt podcast and perhaps not paying as much attention as I should have while pedaling away, I heard Hugh mention that Barack Obama doesn’t understand the role of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. What was Hugh referring to? As the British would say: the penny just dropped. A few minutes ago, CNN’s Situation Room played a clip of Obama saying this about his plan for Iraq:

BARACK OBAMA: I’m going to call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and give them a new mission, and that is to bring the war in Iraq to a close. We are going to get out.

There’s only one problem. The Joint Chiefs of Staff does not have operational command of U.S. military forces. That authority resides in the commanders of the various Unified Combatant Commands. CENTCOM is the command with responsibility for Iraq [and 26 other countries including Afghanistan and Pakistan]. Earlier this month, the Senate confirmed Pres. Bush’s appointment of Gen. David Petraeus as CENTCOM commander. Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno is the new US commander for Iraq, replacing Gen. Petraeus. Those are the people, along with the Secretary of Defense, to whom the orders Obama spoke of would be issued.

View video here.

Dean Barnett, Hugh’s former colleague, now a Weekly Standard contributor, has written about the chain of command and Obama’s gaffe in detail: Obama Ignorance Watch: What Do the Joint Chiefs Really Do?

During the segment I saw, CNN never noted this troubling lack of knowledge on the part of the man who would be Commander-in-Chief. Will any other MSM outlets call attention to it?

(BTW, Excellent publication)

Blackwater Seeps into the Campaign by Jeremy Scahill, posted online 3/18/08.

In February 2007, Obama introduced contractor reform and oversight legislation that has become the Democrats’ major plan in the Congress.

Scahill says legislation would give private military industry tremendous PR victory. The companies could finally claim that legally accountable structure governed their operations, yet they would be well aware that such legislation would be nearly impossible to enforce. Perhaps that is why industry has passionately backed this approach” Scahill.

I know it’s hard to get decent coverage of Obama, but we need to try to bring better sources for these stories than turning this site into a World Nut Daily dumping ground.

This is nothing new Obama’s been saying and I’ve been scaring college kids for months now telling them that Obama has plans for MANDATORY PUBLIC SERVICE for kids. He also has plans for us over-50’s, too!

Chicago Tribune covered the Colorado July 2 speech including the “civilian national security force” without the histrionic claims of the WND hype.

Obama is bad enough without the squealing of the “Amero” nuts. We don’t need dubious sources and hysteria.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-obama-national-servicejul03,0,5754842.story

Obama had outlined many of the proposals offered Wednesday during appearances in Iowa last December.

Goals set for students

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said Wednesday. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

He said he would make federal assistance conditional on school districts establishing service programs and set the goal of 50 hours of service a year for middle school and high school students.

For college students, Obama would set the goal at 100 hours of service a year and create a $4,000 annual tax credit for college students tied to that level of service.

Comment by onlylewis | 2008-07-19 10:01:16

Sounds like a remake of the “Young Communist” groups from back in the day. They were required to join or face punishment. What is in store for us if he is elected puts that in force and uses socialized medicine to do away with the elderly that are deemed not useful by the admin.

Comment by Mary | 2008-07-19 10:31:30

100 hours for 4000. - that’s 40.00 per hour for untrained service. Sounds like more government wasteful spending to me. How could you even accomplish anything with just 100 hours of service. It would take that long to train someone unless they would be filing or something menial - and if it was in a government agency - what access would they be allowed to have for just 100 hours of work.

Comment by Kelly | 2008-07-19 14:55:13

Sounds bad. If this is a refundable credit- that is worth $40 an hour.

If it is a credit against tax liability- pretty useless because not many college students have a bottom line tax lability of $4000 after exemption and standard deduction.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-18 23:20:37

That sounds blatantly unconstitutional to me. Sounds more like an occupying force to keep us all in line. The fathers of this country are turning over in their graves right now. We are on the fast track to becoming a totalitarian society instead of a society that relishes freedom and individuality. Obama is most certainly Bush’s 3rd term instead of McCain. Remember, everything that Obama says about his opposition is what he really is.

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-07-18 23:33:16

I know this is a few days old but Obama’s camp and some news scrubbed it from his transcripts, I don’t think the speech was put up on his site like they always are…People can laugh but ask someone who lived in Germany years ago if they trusted Hitler, didn’t they have any clues of what was going on, they will tell you yes, but things would always be explained away.. no I am not saying, but what the hell does he mean by “a civilian national security force” :?:

The second link has video of him saying it.

Comment by Chick | 2008-07-18 23:40:21

Don’t mean to be having a tete a tete, but my mother-in-law was a member of the Hitler youth and there is a lot more to it then has been made public. I don’t know why it is not out there, but there were financial benefits that drew people to Hitler that never made it to the press. The youth were a lot like the Obama cultist to a degree, they were more of a social club, than a militant group as they are portrayed. You have to remember you are dealing with a lot bad memories for people and it is hard to get out the truth. It is shameful for many, in retrospect.

This is nothing new. Obama has ALWAYS said he’s gonna require mandatory public service. And not just for kids.

I’ve been shocking the antiwar youth with this for months. Before Obama became the media darling there were journalists who wrote this up at length…. I saved the articles, if I can dig them up….one was by a very left-wing journalist, another was by a Colorado journalist. I think they were written in 2007, if anyone wants to dig them up before I do…sorry I can’t remember their names…

Comment by Zee | 2008-07-19 09:09:20

Obama lectures on the Constitution at a law school, he should know that he can not Constitutionally create “a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” as our military and if he doesn’t, he needs a tutor because Article I, Section 8 clearly states that CONGRESS, and only CONGRESS has the authority to “raise and support Armies” and a “strong civilian national security force” is a euphemism for another army.

It also states that CONGRESS calls forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppressing Insurrections and repel Invasion. And Amendment 2 states that “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. ”

Look up the definition of “militia” - it is a citizen army not an SS “national security force”. The only way Obama can get his personal army is to flout the Constitution or persuade Congress to create one for him. So those down ticket votes are looking even more important right now.

No excuse — the bum grew up in Hawaii.

However, apparently he did not hang around local Hawaiians — or people who lived through the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

But Honolulu is not that far from Pearl Harbor — not far at all. For dumb Obamabutts — Pearl Harbor is on the same side of the SAME island as Honolulu.

Did one of the speech writers get Japan and Hawaii mixed up?

Obama seems to read the speeches without engaging his brain.

We do not need another dumb ass in the white house — Obama has no common sense, compassion, empathy or logic in order to make sound judgment and well reasoned decisions.

Here’s the GOP ad — Obama’s words — with scenes from Tora Tora in the background or a window on the screen. Then a fly over of the Arizona memorial — which nearly all school children in Hawaii visit at least once on a school trip.

57 States, ONE bomb fell on Pearl Harbor. What a dumb ass. No excuse for this sort of grade school error.

He wants to make America just like Chicago. If he’s so great how come there are so many people in Illinois who hope he wins just so they don’t have to keep him themselves?

Comment by Disgusted | 2008-07-19 08:53:13

Very good comment, Uppity. I have often wondered, if Obama wins how many of these losers will he bring with him? As an Illinois resident, I am 100% anti-Obama, I do however admit that a part of me thinks that it will be nice to have more people foot the bill, as they say. How much more can Illinoisans pay. You can’t get blood from a stone. Does the host complain when the parasite seeks out new blood?

Not really Vince. I live in a sleepy lil burb. Well it was sleepy till 5 women were gunned down in the local Lane Bryant. Crime has risen ten-fold in most areas. It’s not really all that safe to go to freakin Burger King anymore. Read the paper my man.

Comment by VinceP1974 | 2008-07-19 09:42:49

If you want to call what happened in that store typical then I can’t stop you.

I say it was exceptional, and not an indicator of the typical crime enviroment.

Comment by Disgusted | 2008-07-19 11:11:27

Of course it wasn’t typical. However crime does seem to be on the rise and it’s not just “the black areas” that are affected by it. If you want to believe all the crime is in “black areas” then you believe what you want to believe, but the statistics say otherwise.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-18 23:26:06

Or he could have watched one of the 100 movies about that catastrophic event. Maybe we can blame it on him getting brainwashed in Indonesia instead of learning proper things; however, he went to prep school here and went to college here. As far as I know American history is still required. He is just a freaking moron. Kind of the living embodiment of a society that frowns upon people who actually have ability and rewards those who are dumb as a box of rocks.

That is because the frontal lope of BO’s brain is cooked from smoking crack. His nature is to become “numb” under stress. He does not think well, or at all, when required to be fast on his feet.

We all saw this in the debates. When BO was getting his ass handed to him, all he did was raise his voice and yell, which is an emotional response to an intellectual problem. BO is full of brain farts but his reaction to pressure is predictable.

Comment by C.S. | 2008-07-19 08:23:28

We learned about WWII in Middle School or Junior High, but in Obama’s youth it wasn’t just in the classroom. It was all around you.

Just about everyone in your family was a veteran; from the cousin who lost his legs when his ship was bombed, to the crazy cousin who had a steel plate in his head from a collision with a Japanese shell in the south Pacific, to the grandparent whose unit suffered from radiation poising when they occupied Nagasaki.

Being born in 1961 meant that less than a generation had passes since Pearl Harbor was bombed. Obama was back from Indonesia at age 10, old enough to aware that he was surrounded by the survivors of Pearl Harbor. He should have some personal memories of that event from people he knew. This guy either has memory issues or else he just can’t connect with people on an emotional level.

Comment by Fred C. Dobbs | 2008-07-19 00:19:28

It’s Heavy Fuel Oil bubbling out. USS ARIZONA was a steamship. MOTOR ships use Diesel. STEAM ships use a heavier, more energy-rich fuel.

Her Diesel bunkers would have been a (relatively) small amount of Diesel for her Service Generators.

Not being a pissant, but this is what I used to do for a living, before Shrubbie’s Recession f****d up the Shipping business.

Comment by Linda K | 2008-07-19 04:02:28

Pearl Harbor was a tragedy. But I am grateful that the US entered WWII - without US troops Hitler would have won. Without US assistance the Pacific Rim countries would be vastly different places. Indonesia used to be The Netherlands Indies and my family had lived there as Dutch colonists for generations. They were all interned in Japanese concentration camps and beaten or starved, and in some cases like my father’s tortured. They were in camps for years. Some were taken to Burma or China to work for the Japanese on roads and other projects. While for some the bombing of Hiroshima was and shameful. For those, like my family the bombing of Hiroshima was a miracle and led to their eventual release. I was raised on “concentration camp” stories while living in Holland as well as the stories of the German occupation. And like all shamefull chapters in history, this one needs to be remembered so it won’t be repeated.

Comment by C.S. | 2008-07-19 08:52:45

You should write your relatives’ experience down. The victims of Nazi Germany are very aware that their experiences will be lost when they die and have begun to preserve them because the more distant the war becomes the more holocaust doubters there are.

Japanese victims have never really made their stories known and I doubt many realize that a Chinese holocaust took place also. There are internet sites where you can go to post them or you could put them in book form if only for your family.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and I, for one, do not want this part of our history repeated anywhere.

Comment by jadwiga | 2008-07-19 09:58:53

Linda,
This is my opinion only. Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a tragedy but not a shame.
That time the US didn’t even know all the ramifications of an atomic bomb. The number of US soldiers suffered from radiation poisoning is the proof.
Japan was losing the war, but wouldn’t give up. The Russian army was well on its way to Japan. The loss in life wouldn’t have been less, but as the result of conventional warfare it would have been accepted.
Japan didn’t capitulate after the first - it took a second bomb to convince the emperor.
At that time ‘terror bombing’ was an accepted part of the war. Think of London, bombed by Hitler, Dresden by the US Army. Both were sheer horror.
It took two atomic bomb to teach us a lesson in humanity. Most of the world has learned it.
This is why Iraq is so complicated. We don’t want to have too much collateral damamge.

It’s a very solemn place. When a boat load of visitors arrives, they ARE respectful. It’s just the sort of environment that lends itself to reverence and dignity.

It’s a popular place for Navy service personnel stationed in Hawaii to reenlist, because of its historical significance.

I just cannot believe the gaffe by this candidate. It wouldn’t be so troublesome if it weren’t the third gaffe (that I know of) he has made that can only be categorized as “Sixth Grade Stupid.”

We just don’t need another sub-par IQ in the White House. This guy can form words beautifully, but the problem is, he doesn’t SAY shit. It’s all “babble, babble, hector, whine” and it’s not enlightening at all.

What is he talking about with the “lawlessness of the frontier” as being THE threat we faced in the 1800s? Is he saying western expansion was a bat thing? Is he pandering to Latinos, the reconquistadors, leading them to believe he’ll give the south west United States back to Mexico?\

You know, others might say the Civil War was a bigger threat than the Wild West, but hey to each his own. If you’re ashamed of America, the “lawlessness of the frontier” is something you regret as well.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-18 23:38:36

You know who Obama is don’t you. He is that guy in school who when he has a couple of weeks to prepare for a test goes home and memorizes every tidbit of information he can. Then when test day rolls around he can regurgitate the information like nobody’s business. Two weeks after that though you ask him about something or ask him to apply it and he is completely paralyzed with ignorance because he never took the time to actually understand the material. Frankly, I don’t think he knows jack shit about anything. Everything he knows he read in some socialist/communist leaning book or it is something that sank in from one of his whack job friends. The fact that he was elected to the Illinois legislature is troubling. The fact that he is a US Senator is unnerving and the fact that he may actually be the President of the US is down right insane and is a complete indictment of the US electorate.

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-07-18 23:45:02

Your description of Obama’s style of learning is exactly right. He probably has short term photographic memory — but he has never bothered to really LEARN the concepts or understand the inter-relationships of ideas and theories.

He excels at rote learning, he is very rigid in his behavior. He copies from others (Clinton and now McCain). He is not empathetic nor is he creative. He is authoritarian and controlling.

I strongly believe that Obama never cracked a book on U.S. History at all. He screws up every historical reference he makes. THis is not an isolated incident. My 14 year old son knows more about this country (and the world) than Barack Obama does and he learned most if it from playing video games.

I believe Barack gained his knowledge of U.S. history the same way his hero, Ronald Reagan, did, from movies and television. Like Reagan he also kind of acts like he thinks he was a part of all that, too. Barack thinks all those “B” westerns were historically accurate.

Comment by C.S. | 2008-07-19 09:23:13

I caught that, too, but I took it to mean “The Indian Menace”, like Custer’s Last Stand, the Massacre at Wounded Knee, the illusive Geronimo, and other events like that. Even though major “threats” from the “frontier” came more in the form of war with Mexico and the War of 1812 than the “wild west” depicted in Hickok’s Wild West Show. And if a major event like Pear Harbor didn’t impress Obama, I’m sure the Civil War wouldn’t either.

(Sarcasm intended.)

Listen, if they can put NUCULAR in the dictionary as an alternate spelling and pronounciation to placate idiots with power, they can do anything. The English language is being butchered and the butchering is being “approved”. Newspapers took out the comma before the “and” in a series (to save space), and now if you try to correctly write a sentence with a series in it, somebody corrects you. They have turned insure, ensure and assure into the same word. So if your house catches fire, don’t forget to call your ENSURANCE company, ya hear?

You’ve hit my biggest pet peeve on the head here! [notice I said, “pet,” here…lol

That being said, language is key to so much–and to see it being butchered and discarded in favor of poor grammar, incorrect or no punctuation and nonexistent spelling pains me greatly, for it only through language that we can maintain clarity of expression.

Sigh. So much to do…so little time!

You’re a woman after my own heart!

Comment by Chick | 2008-07-18 23:49:41

No, it wasn’t inspiration. It was necessity. You proved your heritage and you could get a loan from the government. For each child you had, they would cancel 25% of your loan, obviously up to 4 children. You would not got anywhere without your papers. That literally saved your life.

I went to a lecture by a former Hitler Youth — years ago. She had written a book, called “I changed Gods”. She said to the Hitler Youth — Hitler was GOD. Not like a god — he was GOD. The Hitler Youth were fanatically devoted to Hitler, she said. They were willing to do anything for their god — all he had to do was ask.

So when her god died she found religion — fundamentalist type religion.

Comment by WildChild | 2008-07-19 00:05:36

There was a swastika on the base of the cross in the church Hitler went to when he was young. For this lady her transition completed the circle. Unfortunately for rest of us the way fundamentalist religion has been behaving as of late the evil went with her.

I’m sure there were people who were devoted believers, but a lot were survivors. The marching shown on videos was very much a part of the lifestyle at the time. They didn’t protest like we have the freedom to do. No video parlors to hang out in. They sponsored skiing trips and on and on. I have a picture of my m-in-law in a Nazi uniform while her cousin is wearing her dress. Like Obama is overrated, so was Hitler. Just the dates and times differ

Comment by jadwiga | 2008-07-19 10:22:17

Information didn’t travel that fast in those times. The western world (and the german populus) didn’t want to believe the conditions in the concentration camps either. They had to be liberated, photographed to make it known.
Hitler brought relative prosperity to a practically starving nation with his investments in the war machine, the Autobahns, etc.
Many many germans looked at him as the savior of their economy and way of life. (Ignorance is bliss.)
I am convinced that Germany has learned her lession well. Now they are quite careful not to make the same mistake again.

Comment by William | 2008-07-18 23:42:57

I don’t think that Obama cares a fig for America’s history, other than having a likely interest in the racial aspect. The things that we all grew up knowing as part of a shared national fabric, he either doesn’t care about, or disdains. For everyone whose father fought in World War II, or whose mother manned the home front, his pathetic disinterest in what really happened during one of the most wrenching moments in American history is sickening.

He didn’t know when the Selma march was, or just changed the date to fit his own messianic narrative. He confused the number of states with the number of the nations of Islam. He thought, or pretended to think, that jobs fell through the cracks during the Clinton administration. He thought that the Americans, and his grandfather or uncle or somebody, liberated Auschwitz. He makes a mockery of American history, of patriotism, of the truths that shaped our shared narrative. To him they’re just disjointed fragments to be picked up like flotsam, to become part of his personal grab-bag. He does thus indeed transcend history, but in the most perverse sense possible.

We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.

Huh? A civilian national security force? Blackwater in the U.S.A.? WTF is he talking about? Does he even know?

Comment by typical.white.person | 2008-07-18 23:58:48

Yeah, I didn’t see it above. I think it is like the primary, where he was stealing ideas and information from Hillary, Edwards, etc., and claiming it was his original program.

I remember there was something he had devised (allegedly) for, I think, Oregon that included the Great Lakes. Obviously, cut and pasted from Hillary.

I think that is what he may have done here. He doesn’t care what he says to anyone, he just goes out and rattles off at the mouth and the audience applauds. Sort of like GWB “putting food on the family” and they clap.

I concur, Obama has no clue. Does he even know who attacked Pearl Harbor? Perhaps he thinks the Japanese dropped an atomic bomb on us.

Comment by WildChild | 2008-07-19 00:41:33

exactly, we don’t fight nuclear powers. Nuclear weapons put the guys voting for the war on the front lines just like the kids they send off to die. All the opposition to Iran getting nukes has less to do with them firing them then it does with us not being to mess with them anymore. And, they have all that oil.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-07-19 01:23:52

Comment by dgr | 2008-07-19 15:44:10

are you not aware of the subtle ironies therein?

Let’s break it down, shall we?

Terrorists would gladly nuke us? Yes, No?

And we, USA would not preempt. Yes? No?

Alas. it is not politically correct to want to nuke your enemy. Yes? No?

Yet, they would gladly nuke us, given half a chance. Yes? No? And this attitude is encouraged out there. Somewhere. Yes? No?

Comment by WildChild | 2008-07-19 08:14:11

By any definition of a terrorist state, we’re a terrorist state, except we call our terrorists freedom fighters. Iran does too, but this is our story line and were more powerful…until they get nukes. Then suddenly in a single moment we have to deal with them differently. We have to respect them. For whatever reason our country holds long term grudges. We have yet to forgive the Iranians for the hostage crisis. it didn’t matter that after 9/11 the Iranian people spontaneously took to the streets in fellowship with the United States. It didn’t matter at all. We hold long term grudges. Its one of the practical realities of life on earth. There’s another practical reality on earth. Use your nukes and you die. There’s no escaping it. If a nuclear Iran attacks another nation with nukes, Iran will perish. Once they get nukes their hands will be tied the same way every other nuclear power has their hands tied. Their hands will be tied. Our hands will be tired. And, the later is an unacceptable condition to a nation that holds long term grudges.

Comment by dgr | 2008-07-19 15:55:45

I am not sure about the US being a terrorist state and all that. We are a hawkish state whose military holds long-term grudges. Yes, we as a people have blood on our hands. But its not like we are swinging our nukes around like giant schlongs. Judging from those videos I came across above, they hold massive masturbatory death cult sessions when they kill people. Just think of the frenzy when they get a hold of some nice hard nukes.

Comment by WIldChild | 2008-07-19 16:03:38

Right, and Iran is a hawkish state. You can call it what ever you want. Iran and the US do the same things. But it isn’t our military that holds the long term grudge. Our military does what it’s told as does Iran’s military. When Iran gets nukes, and they will because we have given them every incentive to get them, they will be locked in the same straight jacket we are. It’s the idea that we won’t be able to toy with them anymore that drives our hawks crazy and motivates theirs to move forward.

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-07-19 18:20:47

The US does not sponsor indiscrimiate terrorism. Iran Does.

The US has not called for any Nation to be wiped off the face of the earth. Iran has called for that upon Israel, and has called for Jihad against Western Civilization and the Great Satan the US.

The does not recruit suicide bombers. Iran assists Hezbolla, Hamas, and Al Qaeda.

The US NEEDS TO BE HAWKISH when it comes to dealing with terrorist states.

AND, YOU ARE FLAT OUT WRONG. the US is NOTHING LIKE IRAN

Democrat Sen. Barack Obama’s stunning assertion in a recent speech that the U.S. needs a “civilian national security force” that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the half-trillion dollar Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force is not included in published transcripts of his prepared remarks.

In the July 2 speech in Colorado Springs, Obama insisted the U.S. “cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set.”

This just slows him down…excess baggage.

When Sen Clinton spoke about Bosnia-the msm and Obama camp was all over her…for months- Chicago style.

A presidential candidate not remembering how many states there are in the union? Not remembering how the US was drawn into WW11? I guess he underestimated the intelligence of his audience…Perhaps he thought his supporters wouldn’t catch the error- or possibly even care…

The bomb?! 7:51 a.m. What the hell? He must have at least seen a postcard of the U.S.S. Arizona?!

What about Wake Island? What do you say to those 1700 men (about 400 armed military, no radar, a few planes) who fought off Japan for near three weeks until they surrendered?

These American heroes bravely endured almost daily bombings starting the day Pearl Harbor was attacked.

I do not believe that such a day as December 7, 1941, that was to “Live in Infamy,” along with the calls to “Remember Wake” should be forgotten by someone who seeks the Presidency.

My great uncle was bombed for THREE WEEKS, then he was kept as slave labor. He was executed along with 97 other civilians on October 7, 1943.

No one I knows has ever referred to the day of December 7, 1941 as “the day Japan dropped a bomb on us.”

Remember Pearl Harbor and Wake Island.

Then…post here on this site and back up your comments with links to show what you are basing your opinion/statement on.

There are good independent investigative journalists who come to sites like this one for leads.

We must rely on the independent journalists to help us out here to protect our democracy. The msm has let us down miserably.

We must cross link our comments to other good websites like this one that care about protecting our democracy. When we find interesting posts or have questions about something-we must check with our fellow bloggers.

We must avoid engaging in discussion with internet trolls being paid by Obama camp . Their goal is to frustrate us and try to demean good websites and important discussions by posting trash…as if!

DO NOT GIVE UP THIS CHALLENGE. PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY. THERE IS TOO MUCH AT STAKE RIGHT NOW IN OUR COUNTRY.IT IS UP TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US. Millions of Americans fought and died to protect our constitution and our democracy. THIS IS THE LEAST THAT WE CAN DO IN THEIR HONOR AND TO PROTECT THE FUTURE FOR THIS COUNTRY’S CHILDREN.READ, STAY INFORMED, EXCHANGE INFO (With links to sources if possible) SPREAD THE FACTS, DONATE money to groups with similiar mission statement (for example-

The one thing that is clear by saying/stammering over one bomb segment, he is showing that to him Pearl Harbor means Japan suffered the bomb.

He doesn’t care we were hit first or the strategic decision to drop the bomb.

There is no empathy for America in his version of Pearl Harbor.

I swear, Obama’s new world tour reminds me of the song by Woody Guthrie, “Lindenbergh.” It is about Lindbergh and his wife’s quest for the White House and how he sold us out to Hitler on his visits to Germany. Guthrie hated facism.

Full Lyrics:
http://adamholland.blogspot.com/2007/08/lyrics-to-lindbergh-by-woody-guthrie.html

some lyrics:

Mr. Charlie Lindbergh, he flew to old Berlin,
Got him a big Iron Cross, and he flew right back again
To Washington, Washington.

Mrs. Charlie Lindbergh, she come dressed in red,
Said, “I’d like to sleep in that pretty White House bed
In Washington, Washington.”

+++

Lindy said to Hoover: “We’ll do the same as France:
Make a deal with Hitler, and then we’ll get our chance
In Washington, Washington

+++

Yonder comes Father Coughlin, wearin’ the silver chain,
Cash on his stomach and Hitler on the brain.
In Washington, Washington

+++

Hitler said to Lindy: “Stall ‘em all you can,
Gonna bomb Pearl Harbor with the help of old Japan.”
In Washington, Washington

Then on a December mornin’, the bombs come from Japan,
Wake Island and Pearl Harbor, kill fifteen hundred men.
Washington, Washington

Greetings,

And I thought it was just me. I have been banned from several alphabet organizations because I was critical of the Obama. Of course, I brought it on myself when I asked “would we want a person for President who attended KKK meetings for 20 years?”. I fail to see the difference in hate, be it from the klan or from a preacher. It is ugly, and the Obama has set back race relations in this country. My easy answer is I am not racist, I will vote for Cynthia McKinney.
When are the SDs going to come to their senses?

I’d specifically said “If I were to go to Klan meetings twice a week for 20 years, but then said “Well, I went but I didn’t buy into it all”, would you believe me?”

Goood heavens what a mess it was in response to that! We wouldn’t want hate spewing from the lips of Wright to be likened to the hate of the KKK, now would we?

Comment by C.S. | 2008-07-19 07:35:58

Even if it was possible that he just left the s off what does that say about his “eloquent” speeches? I’ve listed to a lot of politicians giving both eloquent and ineloquent speeches in my voting life but I’ve never heard a life changing event botched from the podium - even the most in-articulate president of our 43 had his 9/11 speech down pat and he couldn’t walk and talk at the same time.

Most politicians refer to “the day of Infamy” , “the bombing of Pearl Harbor”, or “the attack on Pear Harbor”. It’s bad to have a presumptive presidential candidate who knows less about his country of birth than he does foreign countries (58 states?) but he read this script like it was the first time he’d seen it. Watch the video again, absolutely no emotion when he talks about one of the darkest days in U.S. history.

Comment by CntrlPark7 | 2008-07-19 11:00:25

…or perhaps it is just yet another indication that his country of birth isn’t really the U.S. after all…

Then again, lack of affect and emotion is typical of sociopathic tendencies…

New York Times Op-Ed: Israel Will Attack Iran

By Steven D., Booman Tribune
Posted on July 18, 2008, Printed on July 19, 2008

“Today’s New York Times includes an op-ed piece by Benny Morris, a Professor of Middle Eastern history at Ben Gurion University. He claims Israel will most certainly attack Iran within the next 4 to 7 months, and if conventional weapons are unsuccessful to knock out Iran’s nuclear program, than Israel will escalate to the use of nuclear weapons.”

“Why is this man in the White House? The majority of Americans did not vote for him. Why is he there? And I tell you this morning that he’s in the White House because God put him there for a time such as this”: Lt Gen William Boykin, speaking of G. W. Bush, New York Times, 17 October 2003

“God gave the savior to the German people. We have faith, deep and unshakeable faith, that he was sent to us by God to save Germany.” Hermann Goering, speaking of Hitler

“A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side”: Aristotle

Oh, but Barack, with his clear understanding of the entire situation, vast experience (as a failed community organizer, part-time state senator, and junior Senator from Illinois whose only claim to fame is running for POTUS) and historical knowledge (he took a class in international studies once and live in Indonesia as a kid, and don’t forget those vacations in Pakistan and Kenya), will step in and succeed where all others have failed, including the Russians, who actually have power and influence with Iran. The mullahs will listen to BO when they have ignored the pleas of the rest of the civilized world. BO, off teleprompter but surrounded by hundreds of advisors, will make them come to their senses and stop this madness!

Floridadem said they cringe and turn off the TV.

Same at our house, if Obama comes on I can’t stand to hear the sound of his voice - I switch immediately.

That is why I cannot get over NBC their ratings have taken a beating, and they still have not learned - now CBS and ABC are following Obama like little lemmings - I guess they all don’t care about their ratings.

This narcisstic/arrogant filled European trip makes me sick. I will not be watching any of the coverage

The only thing that is needed here, is for a white racist remark comes out of Michelle’s or Obama’s mouth and that will stop him altogether. Period. What is keeping man afloat is the young white elites from colleage and the old hard core democrats that are in a spellbind stage. Mention the word “cracker” or anything to offend the white race, and it is over for Obama. Period. And, as I have said on this website a hundred times, I am mixed colored, and this is not a racist remark. Obama has to be caught by a secret camera to really show what he thinks of the white man, because someone who sat in a pulpit for 20 years, something must have rubbed off him. He is a danger to our country, and CNN and MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, have all sold their soul to Obama. One secret moment off camera will be his downfall. Look at Jesse, the “N” word was used but Fox refused to use it on it’s network. FOX, don’t fall like the others, if it was Imus, or Rush, they would have been hung already! Jessie said the N word, he needs to be punish. Whoopie should be kicked out of View show for using that word over 20 times. Now, the next time somebody mentions the “N” word, dont’ forget to mention Whoopie and Jessie and dare them to fire you!!!! WHERE IS ALL THE OUTCRY FROM THE WHITE AMERICANS!!! WHERE IS ALL THE OUTCRY FOR JUSTICE!!!Don’t you see children, that they are putting guilt on you for your ancestors? Now, you got a nominee that doesn’t even know how many bombs hit Hawaii, and it sadden us to see this man is being excused for everything by the media. I wonder if his toliet is gold.

I like your posts–had to laugh a little at the gold toilet. Did you ever see the toilet Haile Selassie had? On a BBC special–
On point, if anyone were brave and honest enough to bring it forth, I feel sure there is documented evidence of him talking down whites, blacks, women, probably dogs–just a matter of catching him pandering to the right audience. I really hope for this every day. He’s bleeding from so many papercuts, maybe another big jab like the Wright tape could do it.

Keep watching Larry Sinclair. The man is telling the truth and it WILL come out.

Comment by FloridaDem | 2008-07-19 09:37:57

Oh, come on. The Obamazombies would simply make excuses for him and say that it’s ok.

They made a lot of totally lame, low-class excuses for his ’sweetie’ statement. They’ll forgive their messiah anything, much as the Jamestown residents did and much as the Moonies have done.

Obama certainly knows the power and content of his words. I can only surmise therefore that Obama in fact thinks “a bomb” fell on Pearl Harbor.

I take the man at his word - he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about.

Comment by flyarm | 2008-07-19 09:50:17

GEESH… it must be 60 states he meant..because he states he has one left to go..after visiting 57 states..but his staff would not let him go to Hawaii or Alaska..because they could not justify it..

sohe went to 57 states + 1 to go =58

and he missed two states..+2 = 60

whoaaaaaaaa…

Obama Claims He’s Visited 57 States

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws&feature=rec-fresh

Now ” A BOMB” hit Pearl Harbor???????

What schools did this guy go to???

Where did he grow up?????????

Did this fool ever go to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial????????????

Hell even Elvis went there before there was a memorial..and he helped pay for the memorial..

Now i know civics is no longer taught in school..but it was in Obama’s school years..

And i know i had a vested interest as my grandpa served on the U.S.S. Arizona in WWI..(in fact he left his eye on that ship as a gunner…and he had a glass eye which he used to pop out and scare us young kids….)

I know I taught my children about Pearl Harbor..as their Grandfather was an immigrant mine worker in Oahu and was building the underground fuel storage for the military when Pearl Harbor was ..BOMBEDDDDDD….

When most of our US Navy fleet was bombed and sunk..

I have taken my son to the U.S.S.Arizona..and planned ahead and my son was able to hoist a flag in the name of his great grandfather..at the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial..and he got the flag and a commemorative letter about his great grandfathers service on the Arizona..

and now I must tolerate this boob..as a presidential nominee???????????

no..nope not this time..and never again!….I refuse..

this has gone far enough.

Not another idiot in my white house..not now not ever again!

I don’t know if anybody else noticed this but what does Obama mean when he says “to the lawlessness of the frontier, ” Does he mean the cowboys fighting the indians, or that Daniel Boone and Kit Carson were outlaws? Just wondering.

Comment by CntrlPark7 | 2008-07-19 10:57:05

Probably just a projection of his own ‘lawless frontier…”

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-07-19 18:31:12

There is more lawlessness in the Chicago Ghetto he came from.

“just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the military.

Enlarging the AmeriCorps is not going to make it as strong and powerful as the military.

Is a tank regiment going to tremble at the sight of 50,000 kids with shovels?

Make no mistake. Obama is proposing a Civilian equivalent to the Military, with the same hardware and budget.

Why does he think it is needed and what will he use it for?

He will use it in the same way he uses his Obot thugs now, intimidate and destroy all opposition and dissent.

He and Zbig want to turn the US into a Marxist style totalitarian dictatorship.

OMFG!!
Honestly, I don’t need a “George W Bush in blackface” playing “I da prezidint” for the next 4 years!!! He’s more white than he will ever be black so, no, this is NOT racist, it’s a realistic view of what is being shown to us. He is using his skin color to keep from being criticized, you can’t get more racist than that!

To expand on this matter, I am so sick and tired of the propagandistic way in which David Axelrove “markets” Obama.
Take a good look at “the message” card placed before Obama. “Judgment to Lead”. WTF? I’ve always blasted Repubs (especially Bush) for this kind of bullshit. Americans are not freaking morons (close, but no) where you can program us to think the way you want us to think by using subliminals. Obama always has his little “message card” placed before or behind him. I have a “message” card for you Axlerove, how about “asshole”? That seems a bit more descriptive, no?
Go watch John Carpenter’s movie “They Live” to see what Axelrove is up to with his subliminal message cards.

Axelrove, hehe excellent observation, it is an unholy combination.

Greetings,

What do FISA and the civilian national security force add up to? The only answer that comes to mind isn’t one that is good for the country, and is especially bad for those of us who are criticizing him. Aren’t the telecoms still data collecting? In all the information I have read I haven’t seen that they have stopped mining the communications of this country; on, I forgot, they only collect data going overseas. Sure. Totally trustworthy.

Kellis
