[...] Media Persist In Misstating Maliki’s Views (by SusanUnPC at No Quarter) CNN corrected the record yesterday, as Uppity Woman reported in “Maliki Disputes Report That He Endorses Obama’s Withdrawal Plan“: “[A] spokesman for al-Maliki said his remarks ‘were misunderstood, mistranslated and not conveyed accurately.’” But, Politico.com’s Mike Allen, at Playbook 24/7, writes: “On MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe,’ Andrea Mitchell calls the Maliki endorsement of Obama’s Iraq strategy (semi-retracted after a complaint from the U.S.) ‘a deliberate attempt to put pressure on George Bush and the White House.’”… Once again, the Obamedia are interpreting the news for us, rather than presenting the facts and letting us decide what’s true. However, the New York Sun reports that not only did Maliki purposely support Obama’s timetable, the support was instigated by the Iraqi who did the most to get us into the Iraq War in the first place, Ahmad Chalabi. Is it just a coincidence that one of Obama’s supporters was another Iraqi, a billionaire friend of convicted briber and Obama supporter Tony Rezko, named Nadhmi Auchi?
The media keeps linking Maliki and Obama through the number 16. But there is no linkage. BOBO just got lucky for the reasons I stated earlier. LOL of course should BOBO be elected, four years from now when he runs for his second term will still be discussing when he's going to pull the troops out of Iraq and at that time, you'll have a new number to dazzle us with.

I'm not inventing anything. Maliki as a head of state can't and won't do anything other then deal with the current administration. He has said this. I understand that you want to grasp at any straw you can to find that might convince people to support BOBO, but in refining his position on Iraq BOBO adopted Bush's exit strategy of listening to the generals on the ground. Hey that's cool, Bush used that one for the last five years and now that BOBO has embraced it, any time lines he discusses become suspect and not believable by anyone.

No, the media has distorted Maliki's views. That he would like an occupying power out of his country is understandable. That he would use BOBO's... talk... on the issue is nothing more than using a reference point that is being discussed in our country as we speak. But it's only arbitrary and Maliki confirms this when he says, “That, we think, would be the right time frame for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes. We've been hearing this language for the last two years. We're still there. As long as the possibility of change exists, then nothing and I mean nothing can be counted on.

If I were you I wouldn't get all fired up over anything BOBO says in the course of this campaign. He has proven time and again that his word isn't good for much when he is faced with the needs of political expediency. It's doubtful that Maliki is placing any more weight on BOBO's words then we are. It's like Pastor Wright told us, BOBO says what he has to say.

Maliki: As soon as possible, as far as we're concerned. U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months.

It's good to see that Maliki used the term "talks about" rather than "plan" when he refers to BOBO. It seems that Maliki like us is aware that BOBOtalk is mostly just that, Talk.

CENTCOM doesn't release statements, dufus. You're lying about Maliki approving a 16 month timetable. He doesn't have that authority, and it goes against the current administration he is working with. Which is why he issued a retraction last Friday, which comes after your stupid transcript.

That's cute. I just got home from work to find you have crownded yourself the representative of the working class in America. You can see Maliki's words in the newly released transcript. You refused to react to that transcript in the previous post's comments section. And now we get this new post which flagantly ignores the new transcript. This has nothing to do with Andrea Mitchell. The "retraction" you're holding onto despite new developments was issued by CENTCOM. I don't suppose you'd deny they have a dog in this hunt? Maliki clearly and unequivocally stated a favorable view of a 16th month timeline.

ROFL.

One of the main problems in Afghanistan is that there is not sufficient NATO participation. Obama, failed in his duties as Chair of the Senate's Subcommittee on European Affairs to increase the number and participation of NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Progress has been made in Iraq DESPITE Obama and his schizophrenic Iraq policy. It is thanks to our soldiers, General Petraeus' leadership and surge policy (strongly supported by McCain) and the improvement of Iraqi military forces.

It is easy for Obama to pretend to take a position he never had when it gains votes. It took political courage for McCain to support the surge when it was politically unpopular and might have destroyed his chances to become president.
