Barack Obama used donations to refurbish and repaint his campaign plane, and has removed the flag of the United States from the tail of the plane. Reports Bonnie Kapp for Fox Embed:
[T]he plane that once had an American flag on its tail now sports the Obama “O.” “Change We Can Believe In” and the candidate’s website are splayed across both sides of the fuselage, making this 757 anything but inconspicuous.
This means, of course, that the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Germany, and other countries will see a plane without an American flag — a plane on which the sole symbol is all about one man. Barack: Afghans and Iraqis won’t be voting for you in November. But they will notice that you failed to represent yourself as a proud American citizen while you are abroad. We’ve noticed too.

As a patriotic American citizen, I am embarrassed that a presumptive presidential candidate would fail to display a core symbol of the United States of America.
As a patriotic American citizen, I’ve been somewhat concerned about Barack Obama’s failure to put his hand over his heart during the playing of the National Anthem as well as his blather when he was forced to explain why he didn’t wear the popular flag pin.
As a patriotic American citizen, I am deeply concerned that the Democratic party may nominate a candidate who is solely focused on displaying his OWN image and symbols rather than those of his party and his country.
Not only is his plane’s symbolism unpatriotic, it is also narcissistic.

Some people were upset about him not wearing the pin. But you see how fast his holy flip flop “I stand on principals” ran to wear one. So I think you should be more mad at him and not us.
Another thing, you can’t seem to follow a logical sequence. Instead you string events together as if they are relevant when in fact they are separate. The presidential seal and a plane are two different things.
Problem with the seal: we have this thing called democracy where the majority of people have to vote for you. Confidence is one thing, but attaching yourself to an office which the American people haven’t seen fit to ALLOW you to have is arrogant and annoying. i.e. people are pissed.

Which leads me to an observation about a diary at Daily Kos this morning by sardonyx, listing the most frequent commenters at that site since last December. The heavy presence of fervent Bots in that list kind of confirms a suspicion I had about some of the 2007 arrivals at that site — that they’re paid by the Obama campaign on a per-comment basis. What else would motivate the top Bots there to make, on average, 200 (largely vicious) comments per day? $1 per comment maybe? That’d be $200 per day, $1,600 per week, and a nice annual salary. But, jeez, how tiring it must be to be on a 200 comments/day or 25 comments/hour work schedule.
I noticed a surge in new users at dailykos supporting either Edwards and Obama – all appeared out of nowhere, very talkative right away (never went through the shy lurker phase regular commenters tend to do) all with user numbers 150,000 and up. Makes sense, since Trippi set up Obama’s “cyber war room” and he came over from Edwards’ campaign.
Now the real commenters have abandoned the site. The cyber war room trolls probably don’t realize they’re just talking to each other.

Expensive gas? Last time I checked Barack Obama claimed he could get us to energy independence by 2032. Forgive me, but that timetable is a bit hard to accept considering best case scenario he only has 8 years and that he refuses to sanction a “bridge” to get to “energy Nirvana.” We could all be speaking Chinese by 2032.
The misguided war? Yes, I agree to the past; it was misguided, foolish, downright stupid and hideously wasteful in lives and money. Unfortunately, we’re dealing with the present and the future. It’s hard to put lipstick on a pig, but that’s where we at.
The question is, how do we remove ourselves from Iraq without encouraging a bloodbath or worse situation for the US than we have right now? And Obama? From what I hear only the theater would change. Love is not the word, so please stop assuming idolatry from every Obama supporter. Honestly, every election I feel like I have to choose the lesser of two evils. Finally, I feel like we have better choices this time. Why I support Obama: I think we need to get out of Iran and concentrate on AQ in Afghanistan; I would not like to see the Supreme Court become more conservative; I think we need a new type of diplomacy both in the Middle East and around the world; I think we need to quit giving tax breaks to the very wealthy; I think health care should be affordable but not mandatory (that’s why I supported Obama over Clinton). That’s just a start….

I don’t want to see us prosecuting and fining people who cannot afford the payments or who choose to live outside the system. There are many people who choose holistic health care: midwifery, acupuncture, massage, Chinese herbs and other practices not covered by insurance. There are doctors in my area who do not participate in insurance. I think they should continue to have the freedom of choice. I had home births with a midwife for three of my kids. Not covered by insurance (we didn’t have any) but safe and affordable. Most people could and probably should opt in, but I can’t imagine forcing it.
PS. Actually, I think insurance has mucked everything up so badly that I’d like to see it abolished. But everyone calls that evil socialism, so no candidate will stand up for that.

I have been trained to do scientific research and while ALL the canidates avaialable to us flop on issues, I have to tell you, Obama is the worst of them all. He is fooling everyone. There is tons and tons of documented video tape where he says one thing and then out right lies and says, “I never took that position”. Its one thing to change your mind, but Obama lies about it.
Thats not the scariest part either. The scariest part is that news media is knowingly not calling him on it and that so many people ONLY believe what the news tells them. My college teaching leads me to one conclusion. Democracy is over. This is the same pattern seen throughout history when despots took over a country. All you have to do is pick up a history book and read about Hitler and Musolinni, and the little red book in china with Daoi. This is not a joke and you need to wake up from the dream that the media is trying so very very very hard to sell to you.
Even though I don’t agree with you, I do appreciate that at least one person here tried to share a genuine opinion with me and didn’t just insult me (though you already did that). Who wouldn’t be angry when their votes are only counted as 1/2, when the candidate they voted for possibly will not have a presence at the convention, when the votes for their candidate were taken away and given to the one they didn’t want, when the so-called candidate of hope and change made personal insults and false attacks taken from the right-wing play book, when the candidate of hope used the African-American community to get votes and sympathy but repeatedly snubbed them? Of course you wouldn’t understand. None of the trolls understand.
As a Texan, I can tell you that our primary system is already being worked on for next time. That’s what I think needs to happen. I’d like to see a vote count equally no matter where it is cast. We all need to work together to fix the broken system so that we don’t wind up at each other’s throats again four years from now. I saw shameful attacks on both sides, and little talk about issues. That hurts all of us and our country. Florida and Michigan were an absolute mess. I can certainly put myself in your shoes and understand the pain and anger you feel. I just prefer to work for change than sit and fume. You and I may very well have siimilar visions for this country, but we’ll never know if we can’t get past the primary.
And by getting past primary, you think we should all just get over it. Sorry, these are important issues. If by fixing the broken system, the people with no power should just give in to the powerful, it does nothing to change the status quo. I see no effort on the side of Democratic elites and the Obama campaign to address any of these issues, but I see a lot of calls to “get over it.” And by “working for change,” you enable Obama to continue stepping on liberal values, disregarding principles, and insulting women. You are helping to continue the status quo.
No one wanted to talk about the issues more than Hillary during the primary, so don’t use that excuse. Your argument that you saw attacks on both sides is a glib way to gloss over Obama’s lack of principles.
Not “just get over it.” Democrats in Texas (both Clinton and Obama supporters) are meeting to change our primary system. How is that giving in? I don’t think the primary system was fair, so I am working to change it. Don’t you want that, too? This needs to happen in every state and within the DNC.

What the writer fails to mention is that a majority of commercial planes have their logo on the tail, not the flag, and most private jets have nothing at all on the tail.

seemed to have the American flag on the tail and he did use that plane to travel around the country- so I guess you would say that when he flew in his previous plane with a painted flag, he was appropriately patriotic, but now that his campaign symbol has replaced the flag (it’s probably just an unpatriotic coincidence his campaign seal is red, white and blue, right?), he is no longer a good American?
Usually it has been knob-heads like Karl Rove and the hypocritical right-wing that took part in these character assassinations based on the most narrow, limited and superficial definitions of patriotism- but I guess that’s changed and some on the left have adopted the lame tactic…

Our country and half of the people in it have gone to the dogs and lost their brains.By the way we are all American and i personally am tired of them calling obama African American when he has very little in him. He is 50% white 44% Arabic balance a wee bit Afro. If we started saying i am Dutch American and i want Dutch month people would go crazy.It’s time for eeryone to just say i am American period.
