Obama’s efforts to catapult himself into the universe of iconic figures took an especially creepy turn today with this poster, which is advertising his speech before a war monument (the Siegessaule) venerated by the Nazi’s. Give the dude some blond hair and blue eyes and we’re talking a candidate for the Nazi Youth.
The last guy in Germany with this kind of cult of personality had a catchier phrase (One people, One Nation, One Leader) but lacked the flash in graphics:

UPDATE: For the Obamabots, who lack any sense of irony, let me be clear–I do not believe Barack is the reincarnation of Hitler. He is not that smart. I have been alarmed about the Movement since I saw ( ( De Stijll ) the style start to show up in Obama’s visual imagery. Mostly, I figured the Kids were just a little intrigued by what they saw as kinda funky retro art style….Which of course is what alarmed me as this Socialist Style of visual propaganda is very effective and in it’s own totalitarian fashion tends to so dominate as to obliterate other forms of visual communication/style etc…
As an artist, I studied Propaganda in classes in undergrad both the development of the graphic and WWII on film/radio. This socialist style was the first truly ( GLOBAL ) style and like Fascism swept the globe. We used it to although in the US the style was not used much in idealization of a personality or an ideal German/Japanese/Soviet….But this style was very effective when we

I actually do think that he may be a psychopath (or sociopath, the more commonly used term). He’s charming and has shown a willingness to discard people when they are no longer useful. And, I don’t believe he’s capable of empathy (think working class voters) or taking responsibilities for his failures (I can’t think of a single case where he hasn’t blamed and aide, stubbornly clung to a viewpoint, or opportunistically changed overnight without explanation).

This entire fiasco is a cynical exercise in propagand by vengeful Hillary supporters who are in denial of reality, and by those on the Right who want to fan the flames of discord within the Democratic Party and take advantage of the chaos and enmity to siphon-off votes for John McCain, who will do nothing but continue the Republican Party’s reign of terror that has nearly destroyed America.
What really happened was very simple. Humbling perhaps, and frustrating perhaps, but nonetheless true.
Hillary’s people believed she was a slam dunk. To their surprise and horror, Obama ran a much better campaign, raised more money than Hillary and came from behind to take a decisive lead.
In the final months of the campaign, Hillary and Bill played major league hard ball Karl Rove style in attacking Obama, and yes THEY played the race card and the sexism card. There is more than abundant proof of this, if you will simply Google the subject and stick to sources of factual information as opposed to partisan commentary from people who are determined to manufacture controversy and smear Obama, no matter what actually happened .
In a final act of desperation as her ship was going down, Hillary’s campaign tried to get the band to play a song by demanding that the DNC reverse its decision to disallow the votes from Michigan and Florida … a rules decision that had been made in full compliance with a signed agreement that was reached early in the campaign between the DNC and all of Democratic contenders, including Clinton and Obama.
There was nothing unfair, prejudicial or crooked in what happened.
Take a look at the video and you will see what Hillary’s campaign manager initially said to the DNC in writing on the subject of the rules agreement, then what Hillary said herself in October 2007 in continuing to agree with the rule, then what they said in the final weeks of the campaign when it was clear that she was about to lose the nomination and they were doing everything possible to avert it.
The DNC has been accused of denying Hillary what was rightfully hers, and Obama has been attacked as the evil and duplicitous equivalent of The Joker who purportedly was behind the injustice. Nothing of the kind is true.
In point of fact, the DNC bent over backwards in trying to resolve the issue equitably. According to the rules and the agreement that had been in place since the beginning of the campaign, the DNC could have and probably should have said NO to Hillary’s last-minute Hail Mary pass. What they did do was compromise, in allowing a proportionately equitable percentage of the votes to count. This is not only NOT unfair, it was a substantial concessions that the DNC did not have to make.
Did Obama’s people object to Hillary’s attempt to get the rules changed at the last minute, for her benefit and no other? Well yes (duh), and rightfully so. Would you be OK with playing poker in a game in which your opponent can get the designated wild cards changed based upon what she’s holding in her hand, or get her pair of Queens to beat your 3 nines when there’s a big pot at stake? No, you wouldn’t, and neither did Barack Obama. He was not one bit out of line in resisting Hillary’s flat-out attempt to “steal” the thing herself. Could we please get real here?
It is abundantly clear that Hillary lost to Obama fair and square, and that the sour grapes and accusations of mistreatment are totally unwarranted.
For some of Hillary’s supporters to refuse to support the candidate she has personally asked you to support, and to be cooking up schemes for derailing the Convention and throwing the election to another Republican, is an unimaginable ruthless, malevolent and selfish thing to do. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
You want rules? Here areRule 11.A. of the Delegate Selection Rules for the 2008 Democratic National Convention states the following:
11. TIMING OF THE DELEGATE SELECTION PROCESS
A. No meetings, caucuses, conventions or primaries which constitute the first determining stage in the presidential nomination process (the date of the primary in primary states, and the date of the first tier caucus in caucus states) may be held prior to the first Tuesday in February or after the second Tuesday in June in the calendar year of the national convention. Provided, however, that the Iowa precinct caucuses may be held no earlier than 22 days before the first Tuesday in February; that the Nevada first-tier caucuses may be held no earlier than 17 days before the first Tuesday in February; that the New Hampshire primary may be held no earlier than 14 days before the first Tuesday in February; and that the South Carolina primary may be held no earlier than 7 days before the first Tuesday in February. In no instance may a state which scheduled delegate selection procedures on or between the first Tuesday in February and the second Tuesday in June 1984 move out of compliance with the provisions of this rule.
We already know that Florida and Michigan violated Rule 11.A. by moving their primaries to a date before the first Tuesday in February. There is no argument there, but what about Iowa, New Hampshire, and yes, South Carolina too.
Rule 11.A specifically set the date for the primaries & caucuses for those three states as “no earlier than 22 days before the first Tuesday in February” (Iowa), “no earlier than 14 days before the first Tuesday in February” (New Hampshire), and “no earlier than 7 days before the first Tuesday in February” (South Carolina).
Iowa held their caucuses on January 3rd. That’s more than 22 days before the first Tuesday in February. New Hampshire held their primary on January 8th. That’s more than 17 days before the first Tuesday in February. And South Carolina held their primary on January 26th. That’s more than 7 days before the first Tuesday in February.
Under Rule 11.A., five states were in violation of the Democratic National Committee’s Delegate Selection Rules, and as such, all five states should have been punished under Rule 20.C.1.a.
Violation of timing: In the event the Delegate Selection Plan of a state party provides or permits a meeting, caucus, convention or primary which constitutes the first determining stage in the presidential nominating process to be held prior to or after the dates for the state as provided in Rule 11 of these rules, or in the event a state holds such a meeting, caucus, convention or primary prior to or after such dates, the number of pledged delegates elected in each category allocated to the state pursuant to the Call for the National Convention shall be reduced by fifty (50%) percent, and the number of alternates shall also be reduced by fifty (50%) percent. In addition, none of the members of the Democratic National Committee and no other unpledged delegate allocated pursuant to Rule 8.A. from that state shall be permitted to vote as members of the state’s delegation. In determining the actual number of delegates or alternates by which the state’s delegation is to be reduced, any fraction below .5 shall be rounded down to the nearest whole number, and any fraction of .5 or greater shall be rounded up to the next nearest whole number.
Yes, you read that right; under Rule 20.C.1.a., Florida, Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, and South Carolina would have all lost their super delegates and had their pledged delegates reduced by half since they all violated Rule 11.A.
However, Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina weren’t punished fairly. In fact, they weren’t punished at all.
And what about Florida & Michigan?
Well, we all know what happened to them.
Instead of strictly adhering to Rule 20.C.1.a. and reducing their pledged delegates by 50%, the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee decided to take it a step further. The DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee exercised the authority granted to them by Rules 20.C.5. and 20.C.6. which allowed them to “impose sanctions the Committee deems appropriate.” And what were those sanctions the Committee deemed appropriate? Stripping two of the largest states in the union of all their votes at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
Ladies & Gentlemen, this is what happens when the rules aren’t applied equally and fairly. And as I said before, this mess is a result of the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee not applying the rules equally and fairly.
So, the next time someone starts talking about the rules, might I suggest two courses of action:
1.) Read the damn rules first!

2.) Let them know that the rules were bent to allow for Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina to keep their preferred first-in-the-nation status. some rules for you shithead. I`m sure you won` understand them though.

Some people on this site actually state outright they think Obama is mentally disordered. I have never said that. What people are concerned about is that this campaign because of the media bias and the cult like status reminds people of what happened in Germany. (actually it’s probably because he is in Germany giving a speech hence the comparison)
People are also questioning why a Junior Senator from the U.S. is over there giving a speech? What status as a junior senator does he have to do this? I guess a photo op.

The problem for Obama is that he owes obligation to the Rezko interests and must balance this with long standing norms of foreign policy such as support for Israel. So he’s trying to play both sides of the coin.
The problem with identity politics is that you are buying into some kind of hype. The money backing the candidate, the venture money, that’s what determines the actual policy. When do the big shots cash in their chips and call on their favors?

Via Politico, design buff says Obama’s flyer pays tribute to famed German Design Era. Interesting though that the rise of German National Socialism (Nazism) and Bauhaus overlap.
Obama and his image is all about brand marketing. This flyer deserves our scrutiny because of the political/social implications it embodies. Either the kidz on Obama’s graphic design team are trying to invoke a parallel or they need do a little more research next time.

The German School of advertizing perfected after Art Deco is so classic that it is still studied and influential. The British have become the aesthetic heirs to the movement, particularly the advances in script. It was a crying shame that Goebbles appropiated and distorted the design elements to such great effect. German Print and graphic design innovation preceeded the Fascists by decades in influence. It had style, risk and wit.
The Bauhaus, De Stijll, and the Russian Constructivists were so influential and so tragically squelched…..
