“These people are weird” was the subject header of an e-mail I opened from a friend today. What was on the body of the e-mail message? This from Politico.com via People magazine about the Scrooges Obamas:

I have seen good days and bad days in my life. Last year I had $110.00 for Christmas presents for 5 people in my family. Everyone got one or two presents.
It is not the price or value that matter but the honest try to get your loved ones something that is nice, enjoyable and marks the day of love and good will.

Christmas has little to do with Christianity, they couldn’t get all those pagan peasants to give up their winter solstices celebrations so they moved Christ’s birthday and combined the two.
Unless Rev. Wright has forbidden Christmas there is no reason for the Obama children not to have a Christmas celebration unless the Obamas subscribe to a religious ideology that doesn’t recognized Christmas. I’ve wondered what sort of Church bans pledging to the flag and country, refuses to wear symbols of a country and now bans Christmas gifts that wasn’t Quakers, Mennonites or Amish because I know Rev Godamn America isn’t any of those.
Even those belonging to very religious denominations (and I’ve known quite a few from Christian Scientists to Seven Day Adventists to Fundamental Baptists) who don’t celebrate by the giving of gifts who take their kids to Food Pantries, Nursing Homes, etc.
I even knew one family that had their kids clean out their closets and toy boxes every Christmas and then took them to their Church or a homeless shelter to teach them the value of sharing what they have with those who don’t have. But I guess the Obamas never thought of that.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses also don’t celebrate birthdays or Christmas… but they are also not supposed to vote, serve in the military, salute the flag, recite oaths, or run for public office.

Barack Obama has NEVER said the words which other Christians know in their hearts. He has made slim references to “following the teachings of Jesus.” That, my ignorant little troll, is not what makes a person a Christian.

A Muslim friend of mine obviously does not celebrate Christmas, but also does not give birthday presents to her kids on their birthdays. None of her Muslim friends do, either. The kids have birthday parties but they give presents to the guests, not the other way around.

ok I HATE to defend these freaks, but I did read part of the article and have to defend them here. “THEY” do not give the girls Christmas presents BUT Santa Does, so apparently they just do not get gifts from Mom and Dad.
as for Bdays, they said they spent a couple hundred on sleep over parties, but don’t buy a Bday gift. I know alot of parents that since the kids will be getting presents at the party, consider the party their “gift”.They celebrate both Christmas and Bday, just don’t give gifts from the parents.

There is a reason many many Dems will never vote for Obama and most of it comes from things Obama or his wife have said with their own mouths. Or records, altho since Obama hides most of his lives records and makes up composit characters in his autobiographies, sometimes it takes some digging to get to the truth about this fraud who talked about how important Transparency is. (but lost all his state records, bugs ate his school records, ect)

Obama is a muslim, not by choice but by birth. I come from Singapore and am very familiar with the muslim habits and traditions. They do not celebrate christmas, do not give presents on birthdays and do not keep dogs in their homes.

Lots of black families I know who aren’t Muslim and don’t celebrate Christmas….but most do. My aunt didn’t celebrate it with gifts but now she does and she is a fundamentalist Christian.
Christmas traditions can hold fast in some families and in others can embrace new traditions or religious awakenings.
There is nothing wrong with that.

Hello, this is my first post here. Full disclosure: I am a Republican. BUT I am NOT a straight ticket guy. My last three presidential votes were Clinton, Bush, write in McCain/Lieberman (honestly, it’s true!). My reason for NOT voting for Bush in the last election had nothing to do with the war but with the blurring of/damage to the separation of Church and State by the far right wing of my party. I describe myself NOT as in independent, but as a Centrist. I define Centrism not as a specifically recognizable ideology but in the fact that you would not be able to predict any position I hold on key social/political issues based on my beliefs on any other issue: i.e., being Hawkish on foreign policy doesn’t equate to other so-called ‘conservative’ values — I’m very pro-choice and very much in favor of gay marriage and all the benefits (and pitfalls!) that come with it!
I give this full disclosure only so that no one confuses me for a GOP troll or an Ozombie.
I’ve been perusing this site since the primary ended because I’ve become fascinated with how the Democratic primary played out and, frankly, by how horribly Hillary Clinton was treated. It was obvious. It was blatant and it was, totally, completely, racist. Period. There is no arguing this point, the Obama campaign played the race card from day one because it’s the ONLY card they have to play against those not addicted to a rather shallow MTV culture.
I just felt compelled to iterate something that has been rolling around in my thoughts for a while.
I fear an Obama presidency. I fear it not for myself, but for my two sons. I fear what this person would do to any hopes and dreams my kids may some day have.
I am voting for John McCain, proudly, happily, for a lot of reasons. He was right on Iraq, from how poorly it was handled early on to the ’surge’ to what to do now and to what do in the future. He speaks to me as an American NOT because I agree with every issue he stands for but because I do NOT agree with every one: He would still talk to me about those disagreements and honestly listen. He’s shown that he works across the isle, he’s shown that he will buck the GOP when needs to.
My ultimate point is this: When I go to sleep at night, I am literally afraid of what would happen if America actually sleptwalked through the fall and elected a Marxist to the Oval Office. I fear his presidency, I fear for my kids. I love my boys. They mean everything to me and I want them to have every chance that I had, that I worked hard for, that this nation has to offer. I know in my heart Obama will strive to take all that away, to give it to a strange global community that he feels he must lead.
I was so hoping that Hillary was going to win the Democratic nomination. I would not have voted for her over McCain. But there is one thing I know: Had the election come down to Hillary and McCain, I would never have gone to sleep at night worried about the future of my children because both of those individuals have proven themselves to be true patriots. They love this country. They may disagree on issues but not on America.
I’d like to thank you, as a Centrist Republican, for not falling victim to this strange cult-like malaise that has fallen over the young voters in this country; for not falling victim to the race-bating fear so blatantly being played upon the American public; for not believing an arrogant press; for standing up for your convictions.
I am not a religious person, I do not fancy organized religion or pray. If I did, however, I would be thinking of you all, hoping that you maintain the strength to carry on this fight, to help America in November keep this bizarre political creation out of office and to help assure that two wonderful boys that I kiss good night every evening with trepidation in my heart have a future to look forward to.

Nice note. I agree with you and that is why Party means nothing this year. Country means all. That is why I will vote Republican for the first time.
I don’t want America to change that much…just become more fair. I have been middle class all my life and I have never been envious of the rich because I have always worked for and had everything I need. I love America, and its values, and I want this country to remain as I know it even with all its faults. We always seem to find a way back, and I know it is because we are free and we care deeply for each other.
I think I have more in common with moderate Republicans as a moderate Democrat than I have with the faction that is in control right now in the Democratic Party.
I think that’s why the pleas to return to the fold here are falling on my own deaf ears.
I think they are as rigid as the right-wing was over the Republican party, and neither extreme helps the country.
As a moderate, I’m a bit tired of the extremes controlling elections.
I had decided that my own solution was to truly look for good solid moderate Republicans and Democrats to back. Screw this label stuff. It’s time to get sane.
So I hope you keep posting and sharing who falls into that category. I’m sick of the rhetoric from the Obamanuts. It’s as partisan as I’ve ever seen in my life. They would discount any fact if it doesn’t come from their “approved” press sources. That’s stupid thinking. It means they don’t trust their own ability to ferret truth from fiction.

I’m a Republican voter, recently I, along with many suburban Philadlephia Republicans crossed over to vote Judge Seamus McCafferty (D) to PA State Supreme Court. Judge Seamus’ support in the urban, mostly (D) precincts was soft. Some of us do not blindly toe the party line. I also would sleep easier at night with Hillary as POTUS, rather than BO. That is why I am supporting the efforts of The Denver Group, since the ONLY way to be assured of Obama being knocked out of the race is to have Hillary as Dem nominee.
What we need to do is exchange information about good solid moderates, whether Democrat or Republican.
I’m rather tired of being a minority voice. The truth is we’re not a minority. We’re the majority.

I only started paying attention to the Dem primary when I saw what happened in my own state -PA. Hillary was outspent by Obama 3-1, all we saw on TV were Obama ads, 24-7. She beat him by 9 points. Obama could not even carry Bucks County, which was supposed to be his demographic.
Then when she went on to win other battleground states, some of us (R)s started wondering what the heck was happenning in the D party. An (r) friend of mine was so upset by the media’s treatment of Hillary, that she pulled out her checkbook and wrote a check for $2300 to the HRC campaign. Yes, even Republicans noticed. And we wondered why the MSM had turned on her so viciously. Even if they thought she was yesterday’s news, and doesn’t represent The New Democrat party, they could have let her down less brutally.
This whole election has taken the dog and pony show of politics to a whole new level.
The MSM and Obama have repeatedly left me shocked or ranting at the tv.
I don’t understand why the MSM turned on her so viciously either. And none of the answers that come to mind give me any solace.
Something smells in the DNC and MSM and I want no part of it.

That said… many of the conservatives/Republicans that I know and I all have been shocked because of our admiration of Hillary’s determination in the primary.

That O’Reilly show interview was brilliant for both people. He didn’t back down and neither did she, but it was respectful, informative, and I agree…laid back. They both shined as a result. I doubt Obama could rise to the challenge like she did, he knows O’Reilly would never let him escape like the rest of the media has.
Of all the things Obama has said. I believe him when he says that he’ll be kneecapping our military, space programs, and slowing down our technological advances. He should be tried for treason, if in office, and he actually attempts to implements those ideas. It is one thing to cut wasteful spending, it is quite another to slow down military technology when it has given the world so much besides bombs.

I just had to de-lurk to say that I don’t think its so lofty that they throw the kids a lavish party and expect the guests to give them presents. Why not tell the guests “no gifts please.” I know a lot of people that do that. It’s a nice way to make the birthday less about “getting presents” and more about celebrating with friends.
I don’t see it so much as about religion as about child rearing techniques–and this is a cruel one. Their kids are at the age where other kids notice differences and may make unwarranted asessments (e.g., for Christmas, they must have been bad which is why Santa didn’t come to their house.) I guess I’m overly sensitive, but I would have wanted a gift from my mom and dad for Christmas and my birthday as a child. Santa was just for fun, and I never would have appreciated an elaborate party over something I could hold and keep.
My son had an elaborate college graduation party, and I was amazed when he said he didn’t know how to be the center of attention since he had never even had a birthday party! He had one every year until he was 10. He can tell you every gift I ever gave him, though.
PLUS, how do the girls learn to show gratitude? They can’t hug Santa and say “thank you”, so they just learn to expect a showering of gifts with no obligation to gift anyone in return?

Ok this is where I disagree. Like the Clintons the obamas are great parents if questionable people. All of those things are wonderful, they still give the presents just not as mom and dad. First off they are teaching them how to make choices. with Bed Making,tells them at least make and effort *I work far to many young adults that dont understand that* Allowing them to set their own alarm clock teaches them about time managment and independence. Picking there clothing teach them how to make decisions, and the lack of gifts, well most americans are extremly meterialistic. And while my parents gave me and my brother presents there was also limits on the cost of the gift and how many. You got one big gift that you really wanted, the rest were undwear and socks. I’ve never loathed michelle, honestly I haven’t been proud of my country in a while and still am not. Although I must say that PUMA is a very uplighting conformation it means that for the first time in a really long time common sense is making come back.

I know some very conservative Christians that do not give presents at Christmas because they believe that it commercializes the birthday of Jesus Christ.
They just may actually believe that giving of material presents just indoctrinates children to be over-consumers. That special occasions like birthdays and Christmas are more than buying material things, that these events should not be commercialized.
Of course, I would find it very hard to put such beliefs in practice.
You do not have to give commercialized presents to give presents. I am sure these girls have toys… they have a multimillion dollar home!!
They could give hand made or modest gifts of affection. Christmas and Birthdays are usually reserved as the time to buy something special… instead of just any old time. I tell my kids that we don’t buy toys until birthday and christmas, this keeps them from thinking we can consume all the time. Also, I have my kids donate their old toys to charities after these days and we participate in filling other children’s wishes at christmas plus clothes and shoes. We give cans to food drives and coats to coat drives. After all this giving I think my kids deserve presents that I would have loved to have as a kid.

Things like this are read meat, but you’re falling for a distraction. There’s a real issue here that MSM and even most Nobama people missed: his own role on Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s getting worse, as we know. But what most people don’t know is that Obama is at least partially responsible for that.
Afghanistan is a NATO war - the US activated the NATO alliance after 2001. However, aside from the UK, most NATO countries, like Germany, have very few troops there, like 1000-2000. Obama is head of the Senate foreign relations committee that covers NATO and is tasked with holding hearings on Afghanistan, but since he was elected he’s never held one. So the deterioration of Afghanistan is partially his fault.
His job in Germany and today, France, not as a political candidate, but as a Senator and an American, was to tell them that if they, and all of the other NATO countries, don’t send a lot more troops, that they are violating the terms of the NATO treaty and should never expect any help from the US if their country is ever attacked.
Did he do that? Naw… he just held a campaign rally and tried to pretend he was Kennedy - a president who was willing to put American lives on the line to protect the freedom of Berliners. But he’s not willing to ask for more NATO troops to protect Afghanistanis or willing to stay in Iraq a little longer to ensure stability. (Remember despite all of the 16-months talk, American troops will start withdrawing immediately when he takes office, so within 8 months, i.e. August, 50% of troops will be gone.)
Obama doesn’t realize that Kennedy isn’t famous because he made a speech, but because he actually went toe to toe with the enemies of America again and again.
And, Obama doesn’t see the big picture. The US and Europe are relatively safe, and its easy to say that the rest of the world is not our problem. But the “next world war” is being fought in the “frontier” countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Israel/Palestine, etc, and the citizens there don’t stand a chance without our help. The great moral question of the 21st century is whether we will build a wall around developed countries and just let the others go to hell, or whether we will put US and EU lives on the line to help make the rest of the world a better place too.

I would be great if political contests were restricted to issues. The Obama campaign chose early on to make it about something else. However having said that, place of birth is constitutionally relevant to this election. There are some questions that BOBO could clear up in a micro second if he wished too. So far he hasn’t. As to his kids birthday presents? BOBO made his kids part if his campaign when he paraded them out on the stage. The present thing is nothing more than information that helps to give us a better picture of BOBOwaffles. Otherwise we are left to make decisions based on the image he is so carefully crafting. I don’t think you’re the type that wants to be limited to the image the candidate presents. It’s very one dimensional. These stories aren’t tin foil storyies. There just fluff to take up the slow summer months. The real debate starts after the convention. You would be missed here if your aren’t part of it.

I agree that NQ should stick to fact. It is a fact that BOBO doesn’t give his girls presents at Christmas or birthdays. That’s an admission of the one himself. What makes this story fluff is that it, as I said in the paragraph, does nothing more than fill in the picture of BOBO and MOMOwaffles. They’re nice to know things but aren’t goin to effect my life or the election much. Issues on the other hand, would be things like BOBO voting for Bush’s telecom immunity or expanding Bush’s faith program giveaways or whether or not BOBO is a natural born citizen. NQ brings us the issues as it should and it brings us the fluff as it should. To the best of my knowledges NQ hasn’t brought us lies yet. LOL though a few hundred BOBOweenies would rabidly protest otherwise.

This gifting nonsense started out as a fluff piece in People Mag (I thought Ibama was not going to use his Children in props and interviews anymore)
But, the jist may be that on the one hand, the Ibama’s want us to know how
elitist, high and mighty, controlling,disciplined they are with the kids, by not gifting on Christmas and birthdays, to “teach them limits”.And yet, they still manage to spend lavishly on Christmas presents from Santa and hundreds of dollars on birthday parties. The kids are not exactly left wanting, so where are these “limits”.
It is another example of Ibama wanting to be on both sides of an issue. It is not just a political strategy. Apparently flip flopping, and being on both sides of the fence is a way of life for Ibama.

AnninCA and I used to post on another political site for a few years. Long before Obama was a household name and on other topics as well.
She caught hell over there at a mostly Dem board because she revealed that she voted a straight Dem ticket. She stuck up for the Clintons, Dem values, and debated real Republicans over vast numbers of political, social, immigration, crime and punishment, current events, and even fluff articles.
I recognized her writing style here at NQ and said hi…and referenced a bully poster/topic over there because my nic wouldn’t be memorable.
She isn’t duplicitous poster or a troll and is only sharing her views. In those years, she has always drawn a line in the sand when she thought something went too far.
That is her right and it doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a sense of humor or that she is a stick in the mud.
On one of those boards she thought my neutral stance was in fact on the other side of her on a topic. And she took humorous shots at me repeatedly for a few months. I still respected her as a poster and her humor so we could respectfully trade posts on that topic.
Since a major complaint about Obama is that he stands for nothing.
Personally, I feel it is honorable that AnninCA is standing up for something she believes in. I guarantee she isn’t an Obama troll though.

Having said that, oblowme gives these interviews and brings this into the public dialogue. Frankly, anything that keeps him from entering the personal quarters at the White House is fine by me. Do I personally like that it has come to this? Hell no. But my candidate and the former President of the United States were impaled on the phony shaft of racism and so I say whatever works b r i n g i t o n!

I agree with the description of 0bama being sanctimonious. And I guess that was the premise of this article, to poke fun at his sanctimony. The problem with humor is that everything is not funny to everybody.
Personally, I didn’t understand the point of this article. But then nothing about 0bama is funny to me at this point. I’m so angry I don’t even want to poke fun at him.
IMO, the Birth Certificate story has legs simply because 0bama refuses to simply produce it. I only started to care about it because of his refusal. There are a lot of things like that with 0bama: his medical records, his college transcripts, his grandmother. There comes a point when even a clear-thinking person should be scratching their head about such deliberate evasion. So I don’t think it’s fair to call people nutcases for questioning him. 0bama is responsible for some of this. And if my memory serves me correctly, the Clintons had to put up with this and more and still do.
Where I do agree is that there are some comments that betray attitudes and prejudices that I don’t want to be associated with. Upthread someone referred to Michelle’s ‘ugly ass.’ I take issue with that because I personally don’t like to use that word casually. It perpetuates the objectification of women which ultimately was part of what killed Hillary’s candidacy. There’s way too much evaluation of women in public life solely on the way they physically look and it’s destroying all of our humanity. I cringe when people have made fun of Cindy McCain who had a stroke, by the way, which can seriously effect your physical appearance. And nothing made me sadder when poor Chelsea Clinton was picked on as a child, especially.

Often people in their zeal to post and appear relevant type anything that comes to mind. And everybody, as the saying goes, is a comedian…. NOT!
Still, I believe in free speech. I’ve been at sites that changed and when they no longer fit my tastes, I moved on. Unannounced!
One of things that bugs me about 0bama is his propensity to lecture people at the drop of a hat. I always try to curb that tendency in myself. This is not to say that criticism is a bad thing. It’s just to point out that often, and this is true on the anonyomous environment of the Internet, people really couldn’t give a flying fuck.
I think No Quarter is doing a balanced job. JMO! There are way more articles that are informative than not. And we all have the freedom to pass on the ones that don’t suit our fancy.
Taking a break is a good thing. Especially from posting. When I find myself lint-picking, I always know it’s probably better to keep my mouth shut. Talking is really more of a personal need. People simply don’t hang on our every word even if we do.
