don’t blame the puma …

Anti-puma groups and blogs seem to be springy up everywhere. Blog posts and articles are being written and hitting the MSM. They all have one thing in common - they are mad at PUMA’s for not supporting Obama. We have been called all kinds of names, including the R word….REPUBLICAN. And yes, RACIST. The running theme of the anti-PUMA sites is about how insignificant we are. How few we are. How we are trying to destroy and ruin the Democratic Party. How we will ruin Hillary, and destroy the country. (Funny so much attention is being paid to such a small insignificant group of old, bitter women.)

The Anti-PUMA groups are comprised of Obama supporters, old and new. Some are ex-Hillary supporters, while others started out supporting another candidate, but moved to Obama at some point. One thing they all seem to have in common though, is that they have picked up and carried on the abusive, thuggish language and behavior of Obama supporters from the get go.

I read an unflattering piece today about one of the lead PUMA people. They took one comment she made, in reaction to an Anti-PUMA blogger who attacked one of Hillary’s most ardent supporters, and tried to make her seem like a terrible person.

What these anti-PUMA people don’t understand is that we are not all *turn the other cheek* kind of people. Push and insult long enough, and we push and insult back. (Those that were former Hillary supporters should know that). SO, yes, PUMA’s might lash out, might say rude things, might post a harsh comment about someone. But, we are pissed off, and sick and tired of being called *irrational* *unhinged anti Obama zealots* *an unhinged mob* *racists* *bitter, dried up vaginas* *hysterical* *Republicans*.

Yes, many, many attacks are that PUMA’s are secret Republicans, and we are given all kinds of reasons why McCain cannot be elected, and if he is, it is the equivalent to voting for the Devil. I have heard so many awful charges coming from Democrats about Republicans. Yes, I am anti-Bush, along with his administration, and I do not support some Republican policies, but I have learned that the Right is not the Evil Empire that the Democratic Party has always made them out to be. They have tried to discredit PUMA’s, saying that we all secretly donate to Republicans. Sure, there might be a few, but I have been blogging with many of these PUMA’s this year, and I assure you, they are Hillary supporters.

This was from one anti-PUMA: “PUMA has a large number of people who claim to be supporters of Sen. Clinton. The problem is they have such a blind, unreasoning hatred of Sen. Obama that they would rather destroy the Democratic party, the political future of the woman they claim to support, AND the country, if it means denying Sen. Obama the nomination - or the White House.”

So, according to this, we will be destroying the country, by electing McCain. Or we will be ruining the career of Hillary Clinton, by demanding that her name is in nomination at the Convention - something that has been afforded to many other Presidential Candidates, including Teddy Kennedy. And, who is Obama, that he is *owed* the White House. He is applying for a job, and in my opinion, he does not deserve the White House. And Obama (and his supporters) have brought this negativity on himself.

What they really don’t seem to grasp is that by saying *Party Unity My Ass* we are expressing the fact we are MAD at the party. We are mad at the tactics used by the party leaders, we are mad at what they did during the primaries, and what they didn’t do, like speak out to stop the constant attacks on the Clinton’s. The character and sexist attacks on the Former First Lady and Senator from New York were beyond the pale. Obama started off the attacks on Hillary, from the very beginning, attacking her character and truthfulness. If you recall, Hillary’s posters used to all read *Ready for Change, Ready to Lead* but Obama came out with *Change you can believe in*. He called her unbelievable from the very beginning. All the while, trying to play the underdog victim.

Calling President Clinton a racist was appalling. (Hell, Obama threw the race card so many times, I feel sorry for people who are actually victims of racism. No one cares anymore, the term is thrown around so much. In fact, Obama played the race card in Germany yesterday.)

Handing Obama delegates from MI, even ones that Hillary won was beyond words. Punishing MI & FL, two states that Hillary would/did won, while allowing other states to move their primaries with no punishment was beyond words. Counting the voters as half a person in FL., Awarding more delegates to African American communities, weighting caucuses heavier in delegates is not democracy.

Sending emails to Democrats stating; *message to base: stay home* was not only rude, but obnoxious. Telling the American people that if the Super Delegates select our nominee, you will leave the party, and then NOT leaving when they select the candidate *you* wanted, is not right. Pressuring Delegates, especially African American ones that supported Hillary to switch, calling them Uncle Toms and making death threats is also beyond words. Not speaking out to the media bias in support of Obama, and against Hillary was downright enraging.

Being attacked from members of your own party, who supported Obama, was for many, the beginning of the end. As I have written before, I used to like Obama. I became weary after so many attacks from posters on sites like HuffPo, just because I supported Hillary over Obama. I became more and more convinced I didn’t like him after I started researching him, and reading into his *lack of* history and experience. But the worst part about it has been the hatred coming from members of the Democratic Party.

Speaking only for me, I can say that the hatred and ugliness coming from Obama supporters from the very beginning have turned me into a very bitter PUMA. In the primaries when a Republican voted for Hillary, it was for nefarious reasons - to keep Obama from winning. But if a Republican voted for Obama, well THEN it was because he was a *uniter*.

In a year when the Democrats should have swept into the White House, the DNC selected a candidate, who many believe is unelectable, and unqualified. The DNC is responsible for the Republicans keeping the White House, should Hillary not get the nomination. I must confess, I would have preferred a Democrat this year, obviously Hillary, but I no longer consider the Right wrong, and the Left right. And I also prefer a candidate I can look to, and understand where he stands, and where he has been, and that has experience.

So, again, what the anti-PUMA people do not understand, is that PUMA members are fighting for democracy. Fighting for fair primaries in the future, no more caucuses, no more handpicked candidates, no more Chicago style politics, no more fraudulent practices, no more intimidation tactics at polling places, and illegal advertising inside polling places, no more voter suppression, no more sexism, no more unelectable candidates, no more party loyalty to a party that left the Democratic principles. No more party loyalty to a party that tells members to stay home, that wants to change the base of the democratic party, that wants to redraw the US map. No more blind party loyalty to a party that doesn’t respect it’s members. No more party loyalty to a party that tries to force out a female candidate, who has more votes, won the majority of the last primaries, and has earned a place on the roll call. No more party loyalty to a party that is trying to keep Clinton’s name out of nomination. A party that tells us, “I must confess a bit of fatigue and irritation with people who continue to carp, complain, and criticize the results of the primary and lay down conditions for their support.”

Many PUMAS are voting for McCain, many are planning to write Hillary in, many are staying home, many are voting for an independent candidate, and some will vote for Obama. What ever PUMA does with their vote is their right. Their American Right. And yes, it is very difficult for many PUMA’s to not vote Democrat this year. Many have been Dems for 20, 30, 40 years.

But, PUMA’s have seen fairness from Republicans. They have seen truth from FOX. They have heard reason from the right. All the while, the left has attacked, covered up, shown bias, made sexist attacks, and worse towards their *fellow* left. PUMA’s have seen the benefit of crossing the aisle, you might say. Most have become independents. Many have seen the faults in blindly supporting a party. You must see the truth, and support those who you feel are best able to lead the country. It is about the best person for job. Not just about a ( D ) or an ( R ). Many are very saddened and feel abandoned by a party they truly believed in. And many feel awakened, having seen their party, and the party on the right, by the light of day.

So, PUMA’s are mad at their party. They will not unify within their party behind a candidate that they do not support. And for that, they are being attacked. But, what anti-PUMA people do not realize, is that they are dividing the country, not just a party. Obama, their candidate, has said many, many times, that he wants to reach across the aisle. Work with the right. Staff his cabinet with members of the right. He has since moved to the right, and voted on initiatives supported by the right. But, anti-PUMAs/Obama supporters continue to spew hatred towards the right and the left. They hate anyone who does not support Obama.

PUMAs are mad at the leaders of the DNC and they do not support Obama as a candidate. (and some just do not support him now, because of his inexperience.) And it should be the right of every American to support the candidate of their choice. And for PUMA’s that candidate is Hillary Rodham Clinton. And until the convention, we do not have an official nominee.

Anti-PUMA/Obama supporters spew hatred towards anyone that does not support Obama. They crucify the right. They crucify the left. Those who have always supported Obama, have crucified from day one. Those who supported other candidates, but now support Obama have joined forces, and now attack those who still support Hillary.

They have claimed that anyone who votes Republican is responsible for destroying the country. They have labeled anyone who does not support Obama a racist.

Obama and his supporters have done more to divide this country than anything a PUMA has done.

If the parties won’t uphold democratic principles, who will?

If the voters don’t hold the parties accountable, who will?

Just say no deal.

The Democratic Party has chosen to destroy itself if they do not choose to support the candidate that is qualified and can beat McCain in November. Place the blame where it belongs. We are just sounding the warning shot!

PUMA$ Who Donate Rule!

Right you are. This really isn’t about Hillary or Obama as much as it is about democracy and the democratic process (small d). I do think Obama is a bad candidate and I think Hillary is a GREAT candidate, but what has made me leave the Party is their corrupt machinations during the primaries. The undemocratic actions of these people are bad enough, but what really is pushing me toward McCain is that I believe the Democrats would not have divided their own party and stolen people’s votes to try to get this inappropriate man in the WH unless they have some sinister, autocratic agenda they want to implement.

The country has been so stratified that lots of Americans think we must have a Democrat to counter the Bush mistakes, but if you just look around at Democratic officeholders in the country, many are just as criminal and opportunistic as Republicans under Bush. I believe Barack Obama would be worse than Bush.

Comment by destardi | 2008-07-26 14:00:08

RIGHT ON!

Yes, I was and still am a strong Hillary supporter, but sorry…the moment the DNC turned into the RNC is the moment I stopped my blind support of a corrupt system.

The Democratic filters FLEW OFF MY EYES!

I can’t STAND the joke that is obama, and his blind ass supporters.

Obama is worse than bush. He is Stupidity with a mob, very dangerous indeed. The difference is that Bush had supporters that at least had the moral fortitude to realize their boundaries and respect for human life. This isn’t the case with Obama supporters. They are clearly void of anything, well, anything. To support him shows that they don’t have the capability to seek out any truth. They support him because he “inspires them”–filling that very void they don’t have, but we do. That is the difference. They are zombies in every since of the word.

Comment by Mary | 2008-07-27 15:50:23

Hmmm…love your concept and totally agree with you..the only thing I might give pause to is referring to him as “Stupidity.” My take for what it’s worth…though he MAY be stupid in addition to all his other “stunning” attributes, what’s more dangerous about him is that he is for sale.

There is an old line of wisdom I heard once. Can’t remember where. Maybe “The Outlaw Josie Wales,” where it is said that “A man is not measured by his friends. He is measured by his enemies.”
I think the point of that is we know our own core beliefs and will not sway from them. Anyone who opposes us, defines what we stand for.

This past week Obama who has never done anything for his country, showed his wish to unify Europe against the US by criticizing it and distorting history. This is the unity he spoke about and because of it he will never be president.

Comment by Mandelay | 2008-07-26 13:07:06

Obama standing with Sarkozy (who is leading the EU) is a joke. Sarkozy would love nothing better than to have a puppet in America. Cutting America down to size has always been the French political agenda and they are well positioned to carry it off. The only way the European Union can increase its clout is if it can “lead America.” It’s a photo op “win-win,” with Obama getting the images he desperately needs to give him “international credentials” back home … and Sarkozy and other world “leaders” getting the images they desperately need to identify themselves with the fluffy cloud of “change” and “hope.” Meanwhile, back where the action is in the U.S.A., Obama supporters swarm the Internet like ants, building their anthills and awaiting instructions, like their two-day training program. Organizing, organizing, organizing. PUMA will leave them with the carcass of the “new” Democratic Party for their dinner.

And let’s not forget that WHILE on his “world gig,” he snubbed the troops, lying about what the Pentagon actually DID say and allowed the lie to walk.

As an RN, HE. MAKES. ME. SICK. As a human being, he makes me fully appreciate the difference between good and evil.

PUMA is the 2008 Tsunami. The ‘earthquake’ that triggered it was the hijacking of Michigan delegates and as the wave gets closer to shore (the convention) it grows in size and speed. Yes, the Democratic party set this wave off and they are running but they can’t hide. When all is said and done, a new party will need to be built; one based upon true and fair democratic principles that values experience and electability in candidates. The landscape will be much more beautiful I believe. Sometimes you must tear it down and build it back up again.

Thank you again, American Girl In Italy for such a well-reasoned and thoughtful essay. I was tickled when the resistance movement chose the PUMA as its mascot. The animal and the associations when you hear the name (either, sporty and active or fiercely independent) as well as the acronym are effective when engaging the imaginations of all who hear it. And pumas are cougars LOL!

In that spirit, I have a book on shamans and animal totems. Here is what it says about PUMA. It’s uncanny how much it fits.

PUMA or Cougar or Mountain Lion

If a puma shows up, it means:

You are being called upon to provide a leadership to your family, friends, community, or the world as a whole.
There’s a need for you to be decisive and not equivocate.
Stop procrastinating with respect to that important task. Just get to it!
Stay strong, clear and assertive with those who are asking or demanding that you change when you’re not ready or willing to.
Move forward with faith and couragw, and keep your eyes on the prize.

Call on the puma when:

You need strength and assertiveness to deal with a challenging situation.
You want to have more patience and persistence when you must tackle a difficult task.
You need help in balancing your personal power with gracefulness and clear intention.
You want to gain confidence when you’re called upon to give a speech or any kind of presentation.
You feel overwhelmed and need help accomplishing several demanding tasks.

If the puma is your power animal:

You’re a well-balanced individual.
Once you’ve decided what to do about a situation, you’re quick to take action.
You’re often called upon to take a position of leadership in which others depend on you to provide answers and direction.
You provide solitude to socializing.
You’re a take charge kind of person, sometimes engendering others’ disapproval and criticism.

Love the PUMA Party!
And we’re going to need all the PUMAS we can get:

I’ve done a lot of research on the big money backers of him and the long term plan is to have one political party. I think its called an oligarphy (sp?) (run by bankers government). This group is for a global world economy and the breaking down of the United States “Out-dated” constitution.

We saw Bush start this by ignoring the rule of law and constitution, giving his corporate buddies lots of contracts and the tax cut for the rich and Obama and the DNC-run by Howard Dean who is a part of the Wall street gang, and it seems Obama is following suit.

This change over is because technically a democracy cannot work when a country is run by money minded corporations. Put the pieces together- our economy is tanking, weak dollar, the bizarre primary season, etc.
The Clintons are being pushed out because they are Real Democrats and the Powers that be are in control.

People, we are seeing the New World Order coming to fruition.

The fact that Hillary herself has not released her delegates or appealed to us directly - and she can very well make that specifically known - speaks volumes to me.

Hillary - we remain at your side.

PUMAs BELIEVE IN DEMOCRACY, Obamaites believe in Autocracy (a form of government in which the political power is held by a single self-appointed ruler.

Comment by GrapeApe | 2008-07-26 14:39:36

The Democratic Party made the big mistake of believing the voters saw themselves as having power that stopped at making a choice between the Democrat and the Republican we were given. We’ve been doing that now for decades. They did not foresee the end of that mindset when they picked Obama for us.

Mind you, had they chosen someone with even the minimum qualifications of the office, they probably would have been correct. But, they chose someone who behaves suspiciously, secretively, arrogantly, and with an aire of entitlement that changed the dynamic of the process. Not only is HE an unknown, but his manner is that which we’ve never really seen before. It’s not trustworthy, it’s not capable, and it’s not allowing the process to remain as it has been in the past.

PUMA numbers are very difficult to even estimate, so what they do is keep the silent millions assured that they are not crazy or alone in their feelings. My very elderly parents and all of their democratic friends are sitting out the election this time. They aren’t PUMA’s, they are democratic Americans who cannot believe they have lived to see this travesty and they refuse to participate in it.

Fine, call me a Republican (I’ve been a registered Democrat for almost four decades). If it makes you feel superior, call me a racist (although the charge is completely untrue). Throw around words like bitter, irrational and hysterical if you must. But the insult about dried-up vaginas? Now THAT is going too far.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-26 15:14:50

LOL that’s just wrong! Between jokes about vaginal lubrication and penis size going back and forth, you could get one drawer-dropping political argument.

The sad part is that we have expressed these exact same sentiments many times. We have said, we will vote however we want for whom ever we want and that’s is that. Yet they refuse to listen. All they do is talk. I think, they believe that is they talk LOUD enough they will drown people out. But they can’t and it’s bothering them. They only thing they are doing is ensuring O will lose in November. Most Americans will not respond well to this. In fact it is seen as an attack against them. So please keep it up. Keep trying to beat people down. They’ll find Americans don’t take anything lying down, and will continue to get up and (like you said) push back.

Comment by Darryl | 2008-07-26 14:16:00

They really don’t understand that the talk is what we are immune too and the reason we supported Hillary in the first place.

Its like being immune to morphine and they keep giving you more hoping that eventually you will get fucked up. Just won’t happen.

They are just scared shitless many will follow our lead..they are terrified of that..

And that is precisely what we need to focus on. We need to be very loud and verbal that we refuse to vote for Obama..I just told a group of lifelong repub friends that ..me ..I ..will not vote for Obama..they almost dropped ..in fact 14 of us went out to a club Wednesday night ( girls night out) on the Jersey shore…and when the band ended the night they played God Bless America..to a full club..and all my girlfriends started chanting..”NOBAMA”…and the entire club of people joined in..chanting NOBAMA…looked to me like the grown ups were taking over!! It was quite exciting in fact!!

WELL.. I have always been the odd one out and the only dem among alot of my friends..although they always respected me and my beliefs..in fact they all cheered me when I was elected in 2004 as a delegate..they watched and cheered me on..

So the shock from all of them that I would not vote for Obama was very real!

I said ..I am American before Democrat…and I meant it..I said my principles and values are not for sale..no matter who trys to steal my country, my contitution, and my vote ..republican or democrats.

Nobama for me..no matter what!

Republicans stole my vote in Fla in 2000, 2002, 2004 , 2006 and now the democrats stole it in 2008..no sale ..NOBAMA!

Hey American Girl -

YOU SAY - “But, PUMA’s have seen fairness from Republicans. They have seen truth from FOX. They have heard reason from the right.”

How odd is this thought:

Obama IS RIGHT! He is a unifier of sorts. He has brought together a very vocal part of the Democratic Party (PUMAs et al) with the Republican Party.

Who would have believed that prior to this campaign season?

I, for one, am almost humbled by my newfound respect for the right. I’m hearing things I never let myself hear before. I find myself agreeing on some of their policies. Hmm. Okay. Enough. (I said ALMOST humbled. I’m not there yet.)

But Obama has the ability to create strange bed companions, for sure. He’s just amazing that way!

Comment by madamab | 2008-07-26 12:16:58

I have thought this as well. Obama is like Bush in so many ways - and this one too: he is unifying the country against him! The left, the right and the center all are rejecting the Obama virus.

We Americans do not want this man as President. It’s as simple as that.

PUMA!

But when everyone was attacking Hillary only Fox gave us balanced coverage. Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-07-26 16:58:05

I still think the GOP has, for the past eight years, fucked this nation mercilessly. I have nothing good to say about them as a group, particularly those who ran roughshod over the legislative and judicial branches. They’ve ruined our economy, trashed our infrastructure, and outsourced our future. Rove, Frist, Gonzales…the bulk of them, and virtually all of the “enablers” in the executive branch, are cretinous, hideous and soulless people.

However, that said, I don’t think we should let an incompetent, equally soulless, vanity-riddled empty suit from the Democratic side do the same damned thing for eight MORE years.

The Presidency is not an office where jerky little shitheads work out their Daddy issues, their abandonment issues, their addiction issues, and their self-worth issues. It’s been that for the past eight years, and eight is ENOUGH!

Two wrongs never make a right. Just because the GOP put an addicted, desperately needy, cocky, approval-seeking, can’t-put-an-idea-together-without-a-teleprompter-and-speechwriter nitwit in the White House, that doesn’t mean the Democrats should do the exact same thing. The Democrats, I thought, were SMARTER than that.

My, am I disappointed.

That’s why I am a PUMA. To paraphrase those old Reagan Dems, I didn’t leave the Democratic Party….the Democratic Party left me.

After more than THIRTY years, too.

I have never voted for a Republican, and don’t know if I will this time. What I do know is I’m not voting for The Messiah, and Howard Dean can kiss my ass. I may vote for a fringe candidate as a protest, I may even hold my nose (as McCain’s mother said) and vote for the Sailor.

But I won’t vote for that vain, egotistical, hemming, hawing and hectoring male model.

I’ve received a dozen or more mailings from Barack and his surrogates, and they’re not getting a penny. I’m DONE. I’m saving them to use as firestarters when the weather gets cold.

I will put the money I save in my gas tank, since The Anointed One seems to feel we don’t need a gas tax holiday.

The DNC needs to understand that you can’t screw people over and expect them to pretend nothing happened. Because Howard and Company could not, and would not, learn that lesson, they are about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory…and it serves them right.

They could have had it all, but they blew it. Idiots.

The Austin American Statesman brings up PUMA today:
http://preview.tinyurl.com/6fz6uv

Still, an uncounted swath of Clinton backers, including voters who see Clinton as a groundbreaker mistreated by the media and national party, is taking a hard line in step with a national Web-driven effort dubbed PUMA (Party Unity My Ass).

Some say they will never cotton to the first-term senator from Illinois. Some fume at the way Texas delegates were chosen via the March 4 primary election and primary-night caucuses. Clinton won the primary, but Obama took more delegates because of caucus turnouts.

Everytime I see PUMA get a ’shout out’ from the media I grin from ear to ear!

I was having a conversation the other day with a lady I worked the phones with in the past for the DNC. I was telling her I would not be lending any support this year to the DNC and I would not under any circumstances vote for Obama. She basically said the same thing, no money, no volunteering, but she felt she had to vote for Dem nominee.

While some are outright sticking it into the DNC’s face, there is a quiet revolt going on with those who feel they must vote DEM. Volunteers working at the local office are a big part to any race. To have the cash dry up and your volunteers refuse to help is hurting the DNC. I have heard this from quite a few of my Dem friends, No money no support.

I have recieved a few calls this week from the DNC (or Obama nuts)and all I can say is when I have to help the person on the other end of the phone pronounce words they are stumbling across..well let’s just say the DNC is in big trouble.

PUMA!

I won’t stay home and I won’t get over it!

I live in Michigan and have voted for DEMS for 40 years. This year is different, the Party Bosses took my vote and “Gifted” it to Obama, this entire Primary season has been a fraud, 3 states has both a Primary and a caucus but delegates were only awarded at the Caucus. Florida and Michigan had their votes taken because the DNC knew Hillary would win big in those states. The rest of the States gave more value to votes from urban areas than those from the rest of the State. I’m voting STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN this year, and will continue unless the Party is purged of Howard Dean, Donna Brazile and Nancy Pelosi.

Comment by madamab | 2008-07-26 12:35:08

I used to think Obama was basically okay, until I started looking into his qualifications. I was even pushing for a “Dream Ticket” after Super Tuesday.

The Michigan/Florida debacle was the absolute last straw. Now the Republicans can say, with justification, that Democrats have no respect for democracy. Otherwise, they never would have given Obama Hillary’s delegates, much less awarded him any from a state in which he had removed himself from the ballot!

How does a person who is not on the ballot get votes or delegates? Simple. He doesn’t.

The DNC told us we weren’t wanted, broke their own rules to promote Obama, stood by while Hillary and Bill were smeared as racists, and now they’re yelling at us for not wanting to back their pre-selected, Republican candidate.

Too little, too late, Howard, Donna and Nancy. This die-hard Democrat is leaving the top of my ticket blank in November unless Hillary is the nominee. Deal with it. We’re not changing our minds.

PUMA!

hank 48188 — This lifelong Democrat will vote straight Republican this year. Its not easy because I have volunteered for some of these down ticket Democrats. But now I can’t stand the Party. Not just for what they did to Hillary and all women but for allowing Obama to run as a Messiah. This is truly galling. The man made himself the Democratic Nominee and immediately became a defacto Republican. Now the talk is Obama will pick a Republican as VP. Don’t Messiah’s have loyalty to their Party? I’m sure Obama will have all kinds of high minded reasons for picking a Republican as VP. We are one party, one Government and one Country. In other words–Obama rules.

Comment by Truudy | 2008-07-26 16:39:44

So, if BHO picks a Repug for VP then McCain should pick Hillary for his VP, just a thought.

Comment by sarainitaly | 2008-07-26 17:19:21

I have thought about this too, but it would make me so sad for her to be VP and not Pres. But, if she doesn’t get the nom, i would love to see it!

I’m in Nancy’s disctrict. I’ll vote for someone else. This one’s for you, kid.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-26 15:19:27

That’s the kicker right there. The voters are paying for their own primaries, then having the results thrown out, or they are having their caucuses thrown out. No one in WA or NV or IA thought ACORN and TUCC would be bused into their polling sites.

Comment by Jill | 2008-07-26 12:50:23

Absolutely, right on. I have been a generous contributor to dem causes and, of course, to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who I believe in the end may well be the next Democratic President of the United States.

I will no longer contribute to the dem party or to the campaign of Hussein Obama. I was deeply offended by the Dem resolution of MI & FL. I was deeply offended by the caucus stacking and vote buying I was told about from friends of mine who attended those caucuses. That is not the party I know.

I have received numerous outraged phone calls regarding my refusal to further contribute or assist Barack Obama and the DNC. In my opinion, they hung themselves. Barack Obama is unelectable and I never saw any sense in the coronation procession the DNC has turned this election into.
The DNC has turned our sacred voting process into some sort of Michael Moore movie. Its disgusting.

I have too much love for this country and love for the democratic process to continue any support for the Dem party as it is presently organized at the top. The Dem party has been hijacked by radicals and I will only support HRC, in 08 or 12 or whenever.

Comment by BluDawg | 2008-07-26 12:02:13

Yep, Democrats who remain silent, are as those who marched lock step with Bush to shred the Constitution.

I will remember in November.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-07-26 12:03:33

Hey American Girl, it’s downright frightening how close our stories are. When I first heard Obama was running and I found out that Wes Clark was not, I was going to vote for him just because he was black. The thought of my racist republican family’s heads exploding when an AA was elected to office was much too tempting. Silly me, I actually thought the DNC made sure Barky was properly vetted and qualified to be POTUS. Won’t be making THAT mistake again. My eyes are open now, the DNC is just as bad as the GOP and it’s up to the voter to vet the candidates. Buyer Beware.

IGNORE AND AVOID ALL ANTI-PUMA WEBSITES AND BLOGS, ETC.

THEY ONLY WANT TRAFFIC! THEY WANT YOUR HITS AND COMMENTS TO BUILD THEIR WEBSITES. THEY WANT YOU TO VISIT THEIR SITES SO THEY CAN FIND OUT IDENTIFYING INFORMATION ON YOU. (IP ADDRESSES, ETC)

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. IGNORE. IGNORE. IGNORE.

HALF OF THEM ARE CYBERSTALKERS!!

I KNOW OF ONE ANTI-PUMA PERSON WHO STARTED FIVE ANTI-PUMA BLOGS. IT’S ALL BULLSHIT.

ANTI-PUMA SITES ARE TRASH–NEVER EVER GO TO THEM!!!!

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. IGNORE. IGNORE. IGNORE.

DON’T GET LURED TO THEIR SITES, DON’T FALL FOR ANY TRAPS.

GIVING CREDIT TO THEM BOOSTS THEM.

STOP IT!!

Kat,

I went a few times to see what one site was saying.
Not only was the writing juvenile but what struck me was they were going to PUMA sites to taunt people and then in their comments were eagerly awaiting PUMAs. The blogger would say things like brace yourselves, I am expecting alot of PUMAs to come over and make nasty comments.

You are right lets not give them what they want.

Comment by PKJayne | 2008-07-26 12:35:46

It will be the new course at Camp Obama,

How to lure a PUMA.

Comment by kat in your hat | 2008-07-26 13:00:23

Yeah, there are a few ploys…

One of them goes like this:

“Omigod! Look what this website is saying about Puma! Let’s go there and let ‘em have it!”

(Meanwhile, it’s the actual anti-PUMA trying to lure you to the site for hits and comments.)

There are trolls, and then there are wolves in PUMA clothing…

If you read anything from a supposed PUMA that makes you feel sad or angry…I would question it. Could just be an anti-PUMA trying to hurt morale. They are very desperate.

Meanwhile, one of them just wants to be famous, so that one tries to follow around PUMAs on websites, desperately hoping to get media coverage.

What’s the difference between an Obama supporter and an anti-PUMA? Nothing. So, obviously it’s one stupid attempt at trying to start a counter-counter movement to the counter movement of the movement. It’s so STUPID!!! LOL!!

Just avoid and ignore them.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-26 15:22:51

I don’t need to explain myself to Obama garbage. It’s one thing to argue here. Not wasting my time with some lame anti-puma site.

Comment by Jillie | 2008-07-26 12:42:28

i just realized that even lurking would be helpful to those sites. i stopped. it feels great. PUMA

Comment by kat in your hat | 2008-07-26 13:16:37

Exactly, even lurking gives hits to the site helps it to build. Meanwhile, if they are going to call out individuals and make lies about them, or post personal identifying information on people, it’s just plain cyberstalking and harrassment, and the laws have toughened against that sort of thing. They need to understand there is a difference between showing political dissent against a party or politicians, and going after average citizens.

Simply ignore and avoid them. You know they will post lies, so just forget about it. If they cross the line, the right people will find out and contact the authorities.

So, just ignore and avoid.

Ignore and avoid anti-pumas blogs and websites.

In 44 years of voting, I’ve never voted for a Republican Presidential candidate. This year, however, there may be no Democrat on the ballot - only a Republican and some amorphous, ill-defined “post-partisan,” who often adopts Republican positions.
It would be so much better if the Democratic Convention were to nominate a Democrat.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-07-26 12:55:46

doppich — I also have been voting for 44 years. My first vote was for LBJ. I think the DNC tried Democrats and they lost so this year they are going for the Messiah. The results should be the same.

Comment by pasmalltowngirl | 2008-07-26 12:11:54

Well said, thanks. I believe the real agenda behind Obama running in this campaign, was to divide this country. He is associated with many anti-American, terrorist thugs who have put him where he is. Why would they waste their money on Obama if there wasn’t something in it for them.
Now that he has succeeded in dividing our country, he is on his world journey to complete his mission.
The terrorists and the Black Liberation hate the Americans and want to destroy us. Obama is slowly adding the fuel to the fire.
If the anti-Puma’s would lay off the kool-aid and wake up to reality, they would realize that Obama would be a grave mistake for our country and the rest of the world. Day one of his presidency would be the beginning of the end of our life as we know it today.
I am an American before I am a Democrat.
I will fight for the future of our country.
I will continue to fight the fight that our fore-fathers have fought for our great nation.
I will never fall in line with a political candidate for the sake of the “good” of a political party, for a man who is unqualified, inexperienced and a threat to our country.

Okay, 18 million votes for Senator Clinton…17.5 million for “O”…and yet the nominee of the party is selected by 175 super delegates. I AM a Republican now, after 40 years! “HAIL” yes! Just imagine what would happen if the tables were turned…an African American denied for ANY reason! I try to stay informed on congressional issues and use my vote accordingly…just call me un-educated and old! At least, I have the ability to discern action from rhetoric! Bring it on, low-life garbage!

Thanks, Larry for a very comprehensive and thoughtful post. As a PUMA I feel as if we are comparable to the resistance in WWII–fighting the Facism. To me, this Obama movement is spiraling out of control and this is very frightening– the tactics of the Obama campaign and its supporters, in my opinion, challenge the very fabric of democracy with their threats, intolerance, and intimidation. The last I checked we all still have a Constitution that supports free speech and values that hold every citizen’s vote as sacrosanct. However, I suppose if we value free speech we have to respect the right of all citizens to say whatever they like even if we don’t agree, but, I do wonder if this hatespeak generated in the Obama movement crosses the line.

American Girl in Italy -

Oblowme’s camp doesn’t know how to be anything other than victims.

Victims of the weather, racism, religion - a seemingly endless list of complaints.

It’s the true great divide in this country. Between those feeling endlessly victimized (real or imagined)

and those who weren’t brought up to believe that life owed them happiness - just the pursuit of it.

PUMA is trying to help, but folks are too busy crying racism to see it.

Vote Oblowme and have lots to bitch about!!

Comment by s. hall | 2008-07-26 13:03:23

MEchelle — Check out Larry’s interview with Steve Diamond the other day. They talked about Obama wanting reparations for AA’s in the form of a Free Education because of slavery. This is not going to go down well with the other races in this country.

Comment by MEchelle Hates America! | 2008-07-26 13:31:40

First: Since when can’t they get free educations? Oblowme and MEchelle certainly did.

But why stop there?

If you follow the logic and believe that they are owed more than the billions a year already spent,

why don’t we all just go back to our ancestors’ countries of origin and leave the Native Americans alone?

Yes, why accomplish anything today when you can bitch about the past?

Can’t you feel Oblowme’s unity magic?
