All Smoke And Mirrors, Baby (Or Is That “Sweetie”?)
By Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy on July 27, 2008 at 6:30 PM in Bamboozling, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Commander in Chief, DNC, Democracy, DoD, FISA, Flip Flopping, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Gender Bias, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Media Bias, Misogyny, Nancy Pelosi, Pandering, Republicans, Soldiers/Veterans, Superdelegates
According to the majority of the American “press,” Obama’s Magical Mystery Tour was met was fawning, adoring fans everywhere he went. Oh, they just FLOCKED to him, didn’t they? Especially in Berlin - oh, yes, never mind the free food and two hottest rock bands in Berlin playing first, they were there to see HIM!! Yes, they were!!! At least according to what WE were told. Well, I know this will just surprise the bejesus out of you, but that is not exactly true. I know, say WHAAA??? Yeah.
Susan Nieman had an Op-Ed in the New York Times, of all places (what us be sycophants?), telling the REAL deal in her piece, “Change Germans Can’t Believe In.”
In her very good piece Ms. Nieman had this to say:
Barack Obama’s speech in Independence, Mo. (6/30/08)WITH gestures that ranged from a wink to a sneer, most anyone you met here this week volunteered the view that Barack Obama’s visit to Europe caused unprecedented frenzy. But it’s been hard for me to find a European, aside from two Harvard-educated friends in Paris, who confessed to excitement — not just about the visit, but the prospect of an Obama presidency. It is true that Der Spiegel, the German newsweekly, featured Mr. Obama on its cover, topped by the words “Germany Meets the Superstar” — but the cover was satire, and nasty satire at that. The editors managed to find the ugliest photograph of Mr. Obama ever taken. It caught the senator at a moment that might be exhaustion but looks like conceited smirking. When Der Spiegel featured Mr. Obama on its cover in March, the cover line was “The Messiah Factor.” Must one add that this, too, was not meant to be taken at face value?
Europeans will be as relieved as 72 percent of Americans to see the end of the Bush administration, but their attitudes toward the Democratic candidate are far from being the same as the ones he arouses at home. Mr. Obama makes Europeans uncomfortable.
Well, yes - of course Europeans, and the REST Of the planet, will be relieved when Bush is out of office. One little problem with that - Congress. Most of those Bush Enablers will still be IN office once he is gone. And heaven knows, they have done BLESSED little to rein him in. Nope - rather, they have gone along with just about every single thing he has requested, including shredding the Constitution, and I don’t just mean with the recent FISA debacle. Anywho, more than Bush need to leave office before there is REAL change: Pelosi, Hoyer, Reid, Dodd, Kerry, Leahy, to name just a very, very few, but I digress…
From our media, would you have ever gotten that the Berliners were anything less than thrilled, or that the Der Spiegel cover was a SATIRE?? Um, no. No, you wouldn’t. I don’t know about you, but I am pretty damn sick and tired of the media manipulating us to promote Obama. Sick of it. And I am not overstating the Berlin case. Here’s a little more:
In Germany, politicians in front of large, shouting crowds evoke images that nobody wants to see repeated. But genuine worries about demagoguery are not all that’s at issue. The mocking undertone that accompanies most descriptions of Mr. Obama in the European news media signifies a trans-Atlantic divide. George W. Bush made matters far worse than they ever were, but the neoconservatives who advised him were right about one thing: Europe is gripped by a world-weariness that resists American dreams.
There’s more, particularly about Obama’s speech and from where he drew his “inspiration, ” but you can go read about it if you wish. The point is that it was not all a bed of roses for Obama, despite the attempts to paint it otherwise (remember how when Obama went to Iraq, all of the newspapers were blaring how the Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki supported his plan?? Then come to find out, not so much, but they did not blare THAT correction, oh no…).
And to address this whole US Military Hospital in Landstuhl that Obama did not visit, since I am talking about Germany. He is now claiming that it was the Department of Defense that derailed his big plan to go visit our wounded soldiers there. I guess in a sense, they did - they said that he could go as a SENATOR, but not as a CANDIDATE. He could take a few of his staff, but not his entire entourage of staff and press. That is to say, he could not use a visit to the wounded warriors as a freakin’ PHOTO OP for his campaign. How DARE they!!! So, instead of going to see them, as a US Senator, he went and worked out in the Ritz Carlton hotel where he was staying. Oh, if I was in the military, that would sure make ME want him as my Commander in Chief - NOT!!!!
And now, for more smoke and mirrors. By now, you have probably heard that Obama is considering yet another Republican to be his running mate. Before I get to that, allow me to digress - again - by bringing up Chuck Hagel, whose name was ALSO floated as a potential Obama VP choice. Hagel, the one who accompanied Obama on his “fact-finding” tour and demurred to him all along the way, even though HAGEL has actually been in the Senate for a while. But wait, there’s more - Hagel is one of the owners of Diebold. You know, as in the Diebold VOTING MACHINES. As in he won re-election in 2002 with a whopping 83% of the vote. It was unprecedented. Care to take a guess what kinds of voting machines they use in Nebraska?? Well, I imagine it came as a surprise to Ol’ Chuck that the Obama people are looking at another Republican, this time, a woman. Someone who served in BUSH’S administration. Ann Veneman, the Secretary of Agriculture, is the person at whom they are currently looking. Amie Parnes and Ben Smith have written a comprehensive article on her, and the Democrats reaction to this news, in this article, “Obama Considers GOP Running Mate“. Thanks to my buddy, Diamond Tiger, for sending this to me this morning. She warned me to not be drinking anything when I read it - I suggest that to you as well. (There will be more posts on this, to be sure!)
See, here’s the thing. I have long thought that Obama was more Republican than Democratic anyway. When he started praising Ronald Reagan as a “transformative” president, a president who did VERY little for the African American community, and DISSED Bill Clinton’s two-term presidency, I became very suspicious indeed. When he went further and said that he wanted to return to the Foreign Policy of George H.W. Bush, i.e., Donald Rumsfeld’s policies, I knew, just KNEW, that he was a closet Republican (and if rumors can be believed, that is not the ONLY thing about which he is in the closet, if you know what I mean!). And of course, choosing a WOMAN is supposed to both appease all of us Hillary supporters (as if that is the ONLY reason we want her - it’s all about her being a woman, not that she is far more qualified) and to prove that they aren’t a bunch of misogynistic pigs. Oh, yes - choosing a Republican woman just covers ALL of those bases - they get cross over votes, and appease all of us PUMA people mad that the woman in the race was treated like pure-T crap. Yes, we ARE mad that Senator Clinton, and by extension, all women were treated horribly in this election season by the DNC and the MSM, but just picking any ol’ woman, especially a REPUBLICAN woman, is not going to change the fact that they trashed the most qualified candidate in the field. And it does not give Obama any more experience, or integrity, or honesty.
Wow - they must really think we are stupid.
One last little smoke and mirror for your entertainment. And by entertainment, I mean another way a SD was arm-twisted to support Obama. That would be John Edwards. Yes, this is about John, his mistress, and his love child. Apparently, this has been known for some time in DC circles. Had it been anyone else (whose name happened to be Bill or Hillary), it would have been screamed all over the media 24/7/365. But the Obama/R/DNC could use this to their advantage, and boy, did they ever!! I trust that now the cat’s out of the bag, it might make it to the MSM, but there again, I’m not holding my breath on that. You know we cannot cast any aspersions on Obamessiah, without being damned for all eternity, that is. I always liked Elizabeth way more than John anyway, but especially now - it makes her disappearance from the public eye that much more telling. I guess she knew this was coming down the pike. I hate it for her, though. She doesn’t deserve this. Frankly, John was lucky to have her. She was what made him seem more believable. Well, that mirror is broken, and the smoke cleared now.
Holy cow - talk about your hoodwinking bamboozling. Please, please, PLEASE tell me why all of these so-called progressives (and I consider myself very progressive - and I make my own cappuccinos every single day. Oh, and I am highly “educated” too!) are supporting this Republican Lite?!?! I sure don’t get it. His version of “change” is looking more and more like the Same-o Same-O to me, especially if you are a REPUBLICAN. Way to go R/DNC!! We now have ONE party in this country (nod to you, WorkingClassArtist and rosieriter)!! Wait, that isn’t a good thing, is it?? Yikes.

He was busy flirting with a blonde at the Ritz-Carlton gym.
Where did you find the story that Obama was picking up on a blonde girl at the gym? Was this when he was supposed to visit the wounded troops but canceled?
Does anyone have a link?
This is the article about the blonde girl and Obama at the gym.
Source: Bild (German Paper)
http://tinyurl.com/696f7v
I tested that link, but it ended on the right website, even though it looks tacky. But on the wrong page for some reason. So, here is the article (there is a photo with obama and the girl)
Souce: Bild (German newspaper)
This sounds like a bunch of baloney. A lot of this artical is even repeated twice. If someone were actually excersizing they would not be recalling this incident with such detail, eg, “16:02 pm someone walks in”, most people would not bother to look at a clock and if they did they would have remembered about 16:00.
This is pure Obama propaganda. I would have to stand there and just watch Obama while writing this down. He pushes on the peddals three times, he lifts so much weight and counts the repetitions, somehow she know the type and size of the bottle Obama has and what is inside. Obama puts in headphones so how does she know what he is listening to?
Then she says Obama does not sweat. Nobody would be dripping in sweat based on what she described him doing.
The last 3 words give this whole farce away: “WHAT A MAN!” The guy purportedly does some curls, situps, listens to music, and sips water and this is impressive?! This underscores the problem with Obama — he is being glorified like a messiah for doing absolutely nothing. This is equivalent to Obama blowing his nose into a microphone and having a moronic crowd cheering for him. Pathetic.
I did that much in my first week of cardiac rehab.
Actually, I saw the article and obama posed with her. Hot chicks make for better photo ops than depressing sicks soliders.
http://publiusforum.blogtownhall.com/2008/07/26/gushing_immaturity_german_reporters_workout_with_barack_obama.thtml
I got a kick out of imagining her accent as she said, “Obama is top fit!”
Obama should have started his Berlin speech by asking the crowd if they like to “make party.” Effin German dorks. Don’t let a country so fond of backpacks decide your elections.
Here you go
I worked out with Obama!
He curled 32 kilo dumbbells next to me +++ Barack is top fit +++ He didn’t sweat at all
By Judith Bonesky
As thousands waited at the Sieges Saule monument in Berlin to hear Obama’s sensational speech, a BILD reporter met Barack all alone – in the gym! Here’s the incredible account of Judith Bonesky’s meeting…
bild.de/BILD/news/bild-english/world-news/2008/07/24/Bild-was-in-fitness-studio/with-barack-obama-before-his-speech-in-berlin.html
thanks..I thought I had double vision, when I read it back..I don’t know happened. It wasn’t double when I read it on Bild. I must admit, the website does look tacky looking.
Now, While I was out today in the yard pretending to be Tom Sayer, staining the fence a fence, My sane half was out getting intel, ala MIB, much to my surprise.
The National Examiner has front page:
So, while I will half to wait till tomorrow to read it, on the coffee break (as it were)…Just thought you would like to know BO DID through his wife under the BUS!!! I jus’t wonder what lie he told her to be BEserk?
The Men in Black one?
So many choices. Which lie I wonder.
carol — I bet he was. Originally I read that he chose not to visit the military hospital because he told his staff that it was his first time in Berlin and he wanted to see the sites.
Obama Plagiarizes Bono in Berlin Speech oops… lol
He just can’t stop himself. And the fact that his supporters did not hold accountable all of the OTHER times he did it just gave him license to do it MORE. The irony is, those educators among them would FLUNK their students for doing it, and the MSM would REAM Clinton or McCain if THEY did it, but Obama got off SCOT-Free. He has not been held accountable for ANY of his misdeeds, as far as I can tell…
What’s his name? Hans or Franz?
Did he pump him up?
ROFL. Nicely done.
I do consider him a gurly-man.
Let’s continue to press on The Press. They have had their day. And their say. S O S ~ sick of shit
Patti — I am so sick of the media and their fawning over this empty suit. This country belongs to the American people and so do our votes. I will not have the likes of Katie Couric taking mine away. ENOUGH WITH OBAMA ALREADY.
Excellent Rev. Amy….Remember just because a person seems a little paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t out to get them….and yes! UNITY ain’t always a good thing….ask Ben Franklin…or better yet Thomas Paine…
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK….IT IS THAT IMPORTANT.
*** OBAMA IS A FASCIST AND UNFIT FOR ANY ELECTIVE OFFICE ***
Rev. Amy — May I add my thanks for this wonderful post. Sometimes I think we are the only ones in world not drinking the Kool Aid — nice to know the rest of the world isn’t drinking either.
Thanks, S. Hall. I appreciate that.
And yes, we really aren’t alone. If you take a look at how far reaching just THIS site is, it should give you hope (there’s a meter over on the right hand side, so you can see all of the places represented currently on the board - cool, huh?). And thank HEAVENS other countries see through him.
I still cannot believe, after all those years of Bush, that people, so many people, would buy this empty rhetoric of his. Good grief…
Oblockhead’s only real talent is manipulation. Apparently he has been doing it all his life. I have been around these types before. They will do and say anything to get their way and when they don’t, a meltdown occurs. Not genuine anger, but rage.
Yep, you hit the nail on the head. All I see when I look at Ofraudma is a seriously mentally ill individual. Pathologically narcissistic, or so starved for adulation and attention that he can’t function or a combination of both. But mentally ill people definitely manipulate and suffer from rage.
sioux — Perhaps Obama can spend some time in Walter Reed when he loses — cause he is going to be throwing a hell of a tantrum.
And when he’s done there, he’ll be the dashing cardboard cut-out in the Senate just like before.
We are 18,000,000 million strong. Why don’t we use those numbers to hit the MSM where it hurts?
Why don’t we organize a boycott of CNN, MSNBC, etc. sponsors? It has worked very well for groups that have smaller numbers than ours. And it is something we all agree on and can come together on.
The reason for the boycott - We Demand Truth in Reporting! Include a list of everything they have reported incorrectly or ignored and demand they tell the truth now.
Boycott the sponsors until we hear the truth, the whole truth!
That would be a great idea but so many Americans are either apathetic or lazy. One of the reasons I fear for our country is not necessarily because of Obama, per se, but because so many Americans are actually supporting him. I thought the Bush administration was an isolated incident, a bump in the road of democracy but now I see this pandering black version of Bush and am not so sure anymore.
Not as many Americans are supporting Obama as they would have you think. The supporters are loud, and some are vile and vulgar, which makes their numbers appear larger.
We are the quieter and more civilized but not silent. And we tell the truth.
Roosevelt: “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” That’s us. Our ‘big stick’ is our votes.
A boycott would be another big stick. We have to use our numbers wisely.
We cannot be apathetic or lazy or we have lost already. I understand what you mean about the Bush administration. I couldn’t believe the American voters re-elected him. Hopefully most of them have seen the light since doing that.
We can only hope.
You’re right on that one. I guess I am just more than a little perturbed about this business. The more I hear, the more I cringe.
I felt the exact same thing when Bush got reelected. I couldn’t believe people actually voted for him. But, did people actually vote for him or did his sidekicks steal the election and throw away votes for Kerry and report fraudulent numbers? I heard plenty of stories that alluded to such activities. Obama seems to have plenty of people working for him who would be more than happy to steal the election for him–throw away votes for John McCain or just plain have the pollings stations lie about the numbers.
The Silent Majority — I do believe this year there is a Silent Majority that will not be tapped by any pollsters.
The Obama thugs have gotten the message out — to oppose Obama means you are racist. So people will not talk about their misgivings about Obama — but they will speak at the polls.
“Silent Majority” — gotta give VP Agnew his due — but in 2008 — there will be a Silent Majority AGAINST Obama.
Eat that you trolls.
PUMA
You mean you’re still watching them?!
I think there’s actually a disorganized boycott going on. Numerous people have simply stopped watching those, particularly KO and Tweety. Others have also stopped listening to NPR and Radio Free America as well as canceling their subscriptions to Time and Newsweek. NY Times and WSJ are dead too.
Also the Big Cheetoh and MyDD are pretty quiet these days.
I have, too. No MSNBC, CNN, or even the network news. I only occasionally watch PBS. There are better sources for news and most of them are overseas. Go figure.
I used to have CNN and MSNBC on, as background, much of time. The only person I occasionally watch now is Lou Dobbs - who always tells it like it was. I now have FOX (a network I swore I would never watch and convinced many others to not watch also)on much of the time. Because it is to their advantage, they are telling much of the truth about Obama.
But - I think it is very important to know what is going on in the enemy camp. Yes, we have others tell us what the MSM are doing and saying, but we have to keep aware. For instance, I’ve seen things on the scroll at the bottom of the MSNBC screen that they never report on and I never hear reported by anyone else. When I see that, I always put it in a comment on NQ (I don’t know if anyone pays attention.)
To that end, I skim many of them (can’t bear to watch long). I find that is enough to see and hear their dishonesty is still rampant and what they are up to.
I’m not saying anyone else should watch the truthless MSM. I have always had to know everything that was going on in any important situation - that’s just me.
I used to disdain Fox. But now I can’t watch the sychophants on MSNBC and CNN, and I found Fox to be much more fair to Hillary. I do have to hold my nose when Dick Morris comes on, though.
I stopped watching CNN and MSNBC some time ago when it dawned on me they were in love with Obama.
Thank you!
I have been on my own boycott since January.
Boycott wouldn’t work. You have to find who their biggest advertisers are, and go after them.
Right - don’t patronize their biggest sponsors. It should be easy to find out who they are.
Works for Sharpton.
Sure does
I don’t watch MSNBC or CNN, but if you tell me what the sponsors push, I’ll boycott.
I’ll see if I can find a definitive list.
In the meantime, if Larry or anyone else here has that info, would you post it please?
Thanks.
Flyarm had a running list….check the NQ archives.
Also listed the Turncoats….It’s all there. Posted for months as it grew….
Kinda like Uppity’s infamous list of Groups Obama offended….
Also, I found this great video calling for a boycott. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urR8hAeE9rs
It is a month old but most, if not all, should still be relevant.
There also is a call for a boycott, June 9, on Clintondems.com.
There are others. If we could all get together, it would have the impact we want. And it would show them the power we can wield. They wouldn’t be able to brush us off as a slight irritation anymore.
That is a good idea but I stopped watching to so called news channels months ago.
I think a lot of other people also stopped and they still don’t get it.
I don’t need infomercials, I need the truth and nothing but the truth.
We don’t have investigative reporters any more we have stenographers.
If any of them took a journalism class they failed. they should have went to secretarial school.
COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
PUMA RULES
democracy first — absolutely — I can get along just fine without ABC, NBC or CBS. Their ratings are so low now–do you think they will notice that lack of viewership?
MSNBC and Olberdud are noticing.
OR maybe Obama choosing a woman VP is just another one of his subtle messages — forget it Hillary, your family will not regain power.
Obama is headed for Political Oblivion….it is inevitable….Jake seek therapy.
Another anchovy, this one with onions.
In case you missed this Blog A Must Read!!! read last Blog, pretty scary information.
http://www.plnewsforum.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/34772/
It must be so hard for you to see the nice bounce Obama got from the trip.
He’s leading McCain 49-40 in the Gallup poll and 51-39 in the Research 2000 poll. True, Rasmussen has him up less, 49-44, but note that Obama’s range is 49-51, while McCain’s is a paltry 40-44.

Meanwhile, McCain is getting hammered by commentators for his false claims about troop visits. As Senator Jack Reed said this morning, Obama visited wounded trips in Iraq without any cameras. So the story has gotten debunked real fast.
Thank you Debbie. Could you please comment on why Obama has forgotten his pledge to help the people in his father’s village?
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23520981-details/Barack+Obama%27s+broken+promise+to+African+village/article.do
Maybe you work for the campaign. The poor people (which includes 10 of his relatives) have even tried writing to the Senator’s office.
Please get back to us on this. I’m sure the Senator just overlooked A WHOLE VILLAGE.
excellent Katmandu…..well done
Awesome kat.
He’s even more of a despicable a-hole than I thought.
If he can’t even keep promises to his grandmother….GRANDMOTHER, FER CRISSAKES!…..then how are we simple peasants to believe anything this man (loosely used) says?
The school thing blows my mind, too! He certainly can’t say that education is a priority!
I think the Kenyan Village story is like a cautionary tale for the U.S. electorate:
promises, charm, and then NA DA!
and the heartbreaking image of the villagers hoping, hoping, drinking their Obama beer, and looking at photos of themselves with a smiling Obama…
how can he do this to (his own) people?
But Wait! There’s More ! What about his own hometown Village ( the district in Chicago that hired him ) and the believers he left behind…..
They sure got left holding the bag.
Good job at changing the subject!!!
I repeat - it’s got to be awfully hard for you folks right now, repeating the same talking points to each other, trying to keep your anger red-hot, as more folks decide that Obama did extremely well in his international meetings and interactions.
You are a tool to believe that Obama did well on that misadventure to Europe.
McCain looks great after that trip!
I’ve been to Europe 50 times and this punk goes once..
Give me a break!!!
Well, Debbie, we’re all waiting with baited breath to see what else your 12-year old mind can come up with. You would be entertaining if you weren’t so obtuse and sanctimonious at the same time.
We won’t have to. The 527s are all lined up in the que and awaiting barky’s nomination. After that the gloves come off and barky is going up against Rove. Told say we didn’t say so. He’s all yours. Go find votes elsewhere.
Obama did well at meetings and interactions? Why because he did not tote Wright with him? Obama did not do a damn thing.
Postnasal drip Snot the Mucilage.
debbie — does Obama pay you in Sausages and Beer? Or do you get a straight $7.00 an hour to blog for Obama?
Sausages and beer, of course. She spends a lot of time in front of the computer trolling NQ for abuse and the NIH for grants (I didn’t ask).
It has been a hard week. McCain looked like he was aready dead and the Republicans weren’t telling us. And Obama looked like the savior of the world.
But Debbie is wrong on the issue of Obama canceling out on the trip to see the injured veterans. This was the biggest mistake of his campaign and it will have legs.
As demoralized as I am with McCain’s performance and the bounce in the polls, I sent McCain’s campaign more money today.
McCain ‘08
Hillary ‘12
Debbie,
You have no power here. Your tactics are old and tired and haven been proven, much like water-boarding, to have the opposite of the desired effect.
Don’t waste your time. You’ll never convince anyone that Obama is a patriot or even a fair contender for POTUS.
No one is voting for Obama no matter what.
So tell your little oberfuhrer that insults and cheeto stained keyboard tirades aren’t working either.
PUMA!!!
Sorry Debbie, but your Obama is an embarrassment to the United States of America.
Our determination to vote for John McCain and Obama’s increasing loss of voters must be bothering YOU Obama supporters very badly.
Which is why you Obamabots keep running your ignorant asses here and to other pro-Hillary forums and blogs posting your garbage.
In the very vain hopes that you will get at least some of us to “get over it.”
See you in November!
Thank you for the link to the article. I’m starting to get the feeling we need to get a group together and do a poll for each state. Just randomly call like 200 people in each state 2 questions. Republican or Democrat. Obama or McCain. I can’t believe Obama is ahead in Florida. I’m just not buying it.
Twonkette, barky should be waay ahead right now. You’re too young and too stupid to see just how far ahead both Dukakis and Kerry were at this exact same time during their POTUS run. And given that Bush is the worst president ever and the MSM is totally in the tank for barky, he should be ahead bu at least 20 points. He will not survive the summer after the 527s get done with him. He’s a loser. Now go back to My Space and lie about your weight some more.
Oof! I liked the last one alot!
ROFLMAO…that my space directive is CLASSIC….Strawberry you do Bite…
A tip of the sombrero for that one!
Kerry wasn’t ahead at this time - your claim is false.
And Dukakis wasn’t ahead until after the Democratic convention. He got a post-convention bounce, something Obama will probably also get.
But you’re right, polls can shift. Still, which candidate is better off right now? Surely not McCain, who hasn’t been ahead of Obama a single day since he cliched and who is going to get hammered all week for his untrue ad.
Senator Obama clinched nothing except his crotch, thus far.
Clinched his crotch?
What a wit you are. I bet you are known for it.
What are you known for, following a false messiah?
No. But she does get a lot of NIH *grants*. It may have something to do with the company she keeps or so it seems.
Get a clue, Ms. 25-watter: This is a 100-watt board. You’re shedding more heat than light.
debbie (with a small d) Barky will lose, just the fact that you are here proves it. You and barky would not be wasting energy and resources are a fight already won. Unless the two of you are even more stupid than we think…but given your poor trolling skills and barky’s constant screw ups I’m beginning to wonder…
McCain is by far a better person than Obama. By that measure he is much better off.
July 19-21 2004
Kerry 47%
Bush 46%
Then Bush took the lead and held it for the most part for the rest of the race.
Even with MSM campaigning for Obama, he still can’t break away.
Has your gag reflex kicked in yet from all that Obama shoved down your throat?
Debbie keeps talking about the “untrue ad” because she knows there is blood in the water.
1. Obama scheduled trip to hospital - True.
2. Obama canceled trip to hospital - True.
There is no way to spin that. He had time to work out with a hot German reporter, but did not make time to visit the injured troops.
Keep pouring it on J. Mac.
What 527s? Try reading something outside of your niche. There aren’t any major ones organized yet. And T. Boone Pickens, who funded the Swiftboaters, well, he cares about changing America’s energy mix now.
The thing you folks may not have realized yet is that most Republican money folks don’t really like John McCain very much. Sure, the oil companies have opened their wallets to him since he came out for offshore drilling. But the ones who funded the Swiftboaters and other such attacks, not so much.
What you haven’t realized is that that your 12-year old opinion carries the same weight around here as Obama’s half-pint hat. I’d call you stupid, but you may only be intellectually challenged from the 24/7 Obamathon going on in your head.
Suuuuuure there aren’t. OMG please tell me you don’t actually believe that. You are even dumber than I thought. The republicans vote for the republican nominnee…period. You don’t actually think the party that fought civil rights for decades is going to vote for Obama do you? My family is republican, I no longer speak to most of them because they are racist bigots, they voted for barky in the primaries so they could run their most moderate candidate against him and win the GE. He’s toast.
Obviously…Lil Debbie got a limited American Poly/Sci seminar at the GAZA Center….she embarrasses herself….
Yeah, a single-page handout with a checklist for trolls.
If you are typical Obama supporter then he is in bad shape.
debbie — It must be past your bedtime — hop off.
Some simple math: We won’t look at undecideds at this point, however they tend to favor McCain.
McCain has 83% of the Republican vote plus approximately 15% of the Dem crossover vote.
Obama has 75-77% of dem vote and has lost approximately 15% of the dem vote . Obama has a negligible Republican cross over vote.
83 + 15 = 98
77 + 0 = 77
Who will win in November? Numbers courtesy of Rasmussen Reports.
I’m for domestic drilling, too. 70% of Americans are. Sucks to be on the wrong side of that fight, but I’m sure Obama has some neato changey policy besides just raising our taxes?
ROFL, you are great!
What is hard is seeing my fellow countrymen like you fall for the bs. You can slice that crock of manure as thin as you like but it is still bs. Keep on crowing, chump. Without the support of more than just you Obamatons, he will be relegated to the ash heap of history.
You not making any friends here or influencing any adversaries. You just look like a really stupid anchovy troll.
Close the door on your way out, debbie or believe or whatever you’re trolling by today.
TROLLER TRASH ABOARD!
Oh really, Debbie? The election is not next Tuesday, so its moot, okay.
To be ignored going forward.
Obama will get a nice bounce when we bounce him out on his ass.
WooooooHooo good one!
When did Obama visit the wounded troops in Iraq? Many GIs are not aware of it, even those that were there.
The progressives have screwed up royally. All but the dimmest of them must be realizing this by now.
Democratic Follies
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVFvGeRrawY
I agree! That Gym shit is a cover-up for something!
Ask Alexi Giannoulias, the single man with whom Obama “played hoops” at the East Bank Club in inner city Chicago. Giannoulias is also the young banker with no experience Obama endorsed in the Democratic primary for state Treasurer in 2006. I am sure the two of them are VERY CLOSE.
While overseas BO said that he “felt sorry for John McCain” because he wasn’t getting any attention. Oh really? Sounds like snide condescension to me, which is the only thing he is truly good at.
Creepy doesn’t begin to describe this creature.
Guess John McCain….just aint’ likable enough….No ?
LOL - yes, WorkingClassArtist, that HAS to be it - McCain’s likeability!
What I love is that Obama puts out, and the MSM buys, that he is EVEN KEELED, and doesn’t get all that upset abt things. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! That is a friggin’ joke - everytime anyone questions him, even just a little, he gets mad. “Well, uh, ah, um, well, LOOK…” Remember how mad he got in the debates if anyone actually CHALLENGED him?? So, yeah - that goes along well with his condescension…
And as for the polls, the thing is that McCain hasn’t even really started going against his competitor since he wants to make SURE that it s Obama. That the DNC put off the Convention the way they did - and that is MIGHTY suspicious, as I said - usually by NOW, both conventions are over and the candidates know against whom they are fighting. So, the fact that there has been SO much focus on Obama, Obama, Obama, and McCain is still CLOSE, well…Just look at what Hillary did - outspent, harrangued by the MSM constantly, denigrated by Obama and his minions, and she STILL beat the pants off of him!!! McCain hasn’t even lifted a finger yet. Let’s see how those polls look in another couple of months (unless the SDs wise up and pick the better candidate, then McCain is toast).
I am on the same page…I am in your choir Rev. Amy. Keep up the pressure….Barry Queen of Snots will fold….
LOL - sing on, WCA!!
A-fu&*in’-men!
Sh1t comes out of Oblahblah’s mouth that I wouldn’t hold in my hand. Supercilious bastard.
Well, McCain was whining. Just look at his Saturday radio address.
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/07/mccain_im_focus.html
Maybe he’s sad that when he went to all the same countries a few months ago, no one even noticed.
You can’t be as stupid as you seem.
Love that typical NQ response. Don’t respond to what is said, just insult.
I hope you folks write lots of letters to the editor of your local towns and talk to lots of people about what you think.
Unlike you, Gabby, we have money and vote. You just have a big mouth.
Yes, lots and lots.
If I must elaborate to explain more clearly;
John McCain was not whining. He was pointing out that Obama’s attention has been misplaced, as he(Obama) never seems to direct it toward those whom he seeks to serve.. (Speaking slowly now just for you)- T H E
A M E R I C A N P E O P L E.
I was actually giving you the benefit of the doubt regarding your intelligence.
And when McCain went a few months ago, as you say, some one did notice. Our troops noticed
My advice to you is to report back to your superiors and tell them you are yet another failure. Cash in your chips, minimum wage went up this week.
Because your quote proves the OPPOSITE of what you’re claiming.
ergo…You can’t be that stupid. You’re just throwing shit to see what sticks.
Typical thug tactic.
Perhaps McCain was trying to make a point that Obama wasn’t paying attention to American domestic matters, such as the economy, gas prices, health care, home foreclosures, and things like that. Even Obama acknowledged that he didn’t expect the polls to go up in his favor because people here are dealing w/their problems.
Yes, McCain is a whiner but Obama ’s displayed a condescending attitude and arrogance many times. I don’t like either of them.
HELLO Debbie, McCain was being facetious, no?
You’ll need to use easier words. Trolls don’t understand words like facetious.
Well if McCain had paid his audience with Beer and Sausages and brought in the two hottest rock bands to play before his appearance just to get an audience — he would have gotten attention too. Nice to see how the German people really felt about Obama — condesension but Obama was too dumb to see it.
McCain just went to a nice Ohio restaurant and bought some sausages from small business owners. He didn’t use taxpayer money to feed Germans and put on a rock show. Obama should have visited Europe while he chaired that subcommittee instead of just using his position to bolster his weak foreign policy cred.
If the Messiah isn’t legally challenged before the convention, then as a last ditch suggestion:
Hillary, or a loyal Super Delegate, could in accordance with the US Constitution, produce Hillary Clinton’s, legal and certified birth certificate, and openly force Barack Hussein Obama to producing his. If he can’t, then he’s disqualified on the spot!
And his medical records as well as his grades.
His grades? You meant the ones that were good enough to get into Harvard Law School? How about the grades of the guy who graduated 5th from the bottom his class?
Palistinian Troll!!!!111
There was never a bump.
He is NOT even Black.
Hillary WILL be POTUS.
Nobody here is a ptsd pyscho off their welbutrin
BOOM!!
Go back to where facts matter. Douche.
Britches,
Your post should be preserved as the epitome of a NQ commenter. Poor spelling, no argument or evidence, strange remarks about race, insults, a delusional claim about Hillary Clinton.
It’s a classic!
Little Debbie: If we wanted anything from you, we’d order the cookies.
Gee debbie….PROVE IT….PONY UP THE RECORDS….REAL ONES..MKAY?
You don’t need records to prove that he got into Harvard Law School.
Well, since you’re so helpful, please tell us where Obama’s thesis is. We’re all dying to know here.
The one that was only 25 pages long and so pitiful that the professor got rid of it thesis?
But he refuses to release his grades. Hillary released her taxes, Mccain his health records, barky is a coward and a loser. He got in because his father went to Harvard just like Bush. A ‘c’ student.
He got in as a legacy!!!!!!!!!
Stop the hate!
“…he got into Harvard Law School.”
Bush went to Harvard too.
And just look at how well THAT turned out…
My mistake…
Bush went to YALE.
Having an Ivy League degree didn’t make Bush a good President. And it won’t make Obama one either.
Show us than.
The word you should have used is “then.”
So show us then, Conan the Grammarian.
debbie/believe, where is you answer? Are you waiting for central command to send you data?
She has an appointment with the NIH. It must be really bad.
debbie — is it hot in Palestine this time of year?
Teehee
dabbie, don’t invoke the wrath of the bad typists of America,of which I am a charter member. You don’t want to go there, believe me.
let’s see:
he lost his thesis,
senate records,
birth cert…
what else?
the man is “UN ORGANIZED”!
And the bugs ate his school records in Indonesia.
They really lowered standards for Obama, a man who does not even know how many states there are. Most kids know that by the time they are 5 years old.
that’s why he’s called Walking Eagle:
A bird so FOS he can’t fly.
I think a better name would be Little Stick-in-the-Ass, a la Louis Black.
Hell, I’d VOTE for Lewis Black!
Gee I thought Obama’s Great Lakes Plan was HEROIC IN SCALE AND DEPTH…..Aaaaannnddd OObama cccured my sttutterr….nnnuff said
That’s Oblowme at Columbia.
NObama got into Hardard the same way GW Bush got into Yale. A legacy. Both Bush and NObama’s Fathers went to Yale and Harvard respectively. Remember, Nobama won’t release his transcripts. His President of the Law Review was an affirmative action thing. Earlier, the student with the highest grade got that plum. But then there was concern that minorities were not ever going to get a plum clerkship so they went out of their way to get a woman, an Asian and then Nobama. NObama never even had an article published in his edition. And it is the least cited volumn ever done. And to top it off for me, he got a Michael McConnell to do a piece on how poor women could be legally denied funding for abortions but that private religious schools could get public funding. A dancing on the head of a pin type legalese mumbo BS. Yea, Nobama is a real progressive…NOT. And to top it off this McConnell dude was appointed to the Federal Bench in Utah by Dumbya Bush. And Nobama was given an office to write his fictional autobiography in the U of Chicago by a very conservative professor. Yea, Nobama is a prince of the GOP…a faux Democrat. a piece of s—.
You don’t get it. Whether one graduates from Harvard summa cum laude, or magna cum laude, depends on how much smarter every other student was. (Ever read about Harvard’s inflated grades?
http://media.www.tuftsdaily.com/media/storage/paper856/news/2001/09/01/UndefinedSection/Easy-As.At.Harvard.Inflate.Student.Egos-1487072.shtml
As for the Law Review… he won an election. But he never published anything, then or since.
Debbie - Obama got in because his father was a graduate of Harvard, just like Bush.
Military Academies do not rank the same way as civilian universities. In the military academies, grades only make up a certain percentage of the ranking, even if you get all A’s, you can still rank out between 25 - 50 percentile because you’re not focusing on the military aspects of the academies.
Other words, you’re comparing apples to oranges.
You ever heard of Affirmative Action, Debbie? THere ya go!
Good idea…But would they broadcast that drama….Stranger shit has happened at Democratic conventions in bygone days….We have even nominated Pols that didn’t run in the primaries….who knows what could happen ?
Ha!
You tell’em.
And when he does. Then what?
You really are just a bunch of repukes hoping to make Hillary look bad.
That’s got to be it. Because they take Republican positions on every policy they talk about - taxes, the war, oil drilling, health care.
The world has changed under your feet.
The war in Iraq is being won.
The recession in America is making tax increases look like a bad idea.
What do you have??
Your Anti-Americanism is not jiving anymore.
American Nationalism is putting you out to pasture!
You are a Republican!
and you are worried, Debbie.
Well, not really.
It’s been fun dropping by. Now I have to go finish the grant proposal I’m working on. It’s a big one from NIH.
STDs again?
BRILLIANT ! Ferd….just brilliant…LOL
It was an epiphany. Saw NIH and BOOM.
Nah, she’s just filling out the app to get free condoms.
OH YEAH….WE BEIEVE YOU LIL’ DEBBIE….YOU HAVE AN IMPORTANT JOB….lol
That’s right. Little Debbie doesn’t actually WORK at Jack in the Box…she’s doing a study of the sex habits of shift workers there, in an undercover capacity.
Don’t they all.
Don’t bother coming back.
debbie
alot of us are the real democratic party or independents and some republicans.
The one thing we all have in common is we LOVE this country and will defend it at all costs.
None of us want a racist anti-american know nothing anywhere near the white house.
Go visit a vetrans hospital and see what real americans will do for their country.
COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS
PUMA RULES
Obama is what the Republicans have been waiting for to rebuild their party. The Democrats are dumb enough to leave the door wide open with propping Obuma up.
debbie — go away and come back when you grow up
EHEMMM….DEBBIE WE IS ALL REPUBLICAN THIS YEAR IF HILLARY IS OFF THE BALLOT….CAPICHE!
better than an obamabot
ooo what a terrible insult. oh sweetie. give it up.
Why don’t you raise money for an ad asking Hillary to do just that?
Why don’t you enlist. Oh, I forgot, that would only weaken the nation. Mea culpa.
Asking for Hillary to do just what? She’s doing her job in the Senate while her campaign is suspended.
That might be the ticket. If he doesn’t have a COLB, he cannot be president. Why is he being so stubborn about this? This should be an easy problem to take care of…or maybe it isn’t.
Republican Veep - GREAT idea.
I’ll enjoy reading the rationalization from Big Orange Urinal when it occurs.
Won’t Dean be proud.
yea- wonder how our lil debbie feels about that possibility?
That presupposes she’s actually alive.
lute — I would like to ask Dean how does it feel to fix the primaries to give Obama the nomination and then have him become a Republican? But then I guess when you allowed Obama to more the DNC to Chicago you must have guessed he would do that.
debbie - you realize, don’t you that Hillary would have pumped $ into NIH? doubling their budget is what she called for… Senior scientists supported HER (See Science Mag endorsement, 1/08)! Oh well - there’s always 2012 — if you can hang onto your position until then!
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2008/07/27/missing_from_that_berlin_speech/
Jeff Jacoby lays it on Obama for his inaccurate use of the Berlin airlift during his speech.
What a wuss Obama is.
Truman would have slammed his hand in the piano.
Debbie? Any reply? You and all Obama lemmings would benefit from a good lesson in great American heroes.
Maybe then you’d see how far from reality your misplaced allegiance is.
Jacoby is giving very strange Republican spin. Of course, since he’s a Republican, that’s not surprising. Obama repeatedly praised the airmen involved in the operation.
The quote was about Oblahblah not referencing Truman. You really don’t pay attention, do you? I guess that little chip in C2 has you all wound too tight, huh?
Why are you complaining about Republicans, they are giving us a superior candidate to Obama. It is the Democrats who screwed up royally.
Just couldn’t bring himself to call the American Airmen, I guess they were Airmen of the World.
angry michelle — I don’t think Obama like this country too much. He called himself a citizen of the world. Why doens’t he wait until the world holds an election and then run for office?
i think the world would have to hold a caucus for Obama to have a chance of winning.
angry michelle — I don’t think Obama likes this country too much. He called himself a citizen of the world. Why doens’t he wait until the world holds an election and then run for office?
John F. Kennedy used the same phrase in his inauguration speech. It’s really quite commonly used.
Try Google. It’s really quite a great invention.
So you admit it, barky is a thief. Not an original thought in that HUUUUUUGE cranium.
Yep, he just can’t help himself. Plagiarism is his middle name. Oh wait, well, one of his names anyway.
Obama is better suited to the UN than the Oval Office. Work doesn’t seem like his cup of tea.
I think he should have a security guard job at night in a warehouse. That way he can sleep on the job and nobody will see.
angry michelle — I don’t think Obama likes this country too much. He called himself a citizen of the world. Why doesn’t he wait until the world holds an election and then run for office?
Thank you. I saw that. How is it a great moment for Berlin to have to have food and care packages to survive? I was in second or third grade then and we broght things to school for the care packages.
Citizen of the world must have a birth certificate of the world, let’s see it.
You got that WRIIIIGHT ! Angry Michelle…..Let’s see those Official Papers…not the forgeries…..
Which one?
About Obama’s praise of Reagan, my take is that Obama, as a good narcissist, ’s always been jealous of the Clintons, especially Bill because of his success as president. Narcissists need to devalue and/or destroy whoever they see as somebody who can upstage them and as the object that triggers their envy.
Much of what Obama ’s accused Hillary of: “Bush-Cheney Lite, will do anything to win, pro-Nafta, use of lobbists, lying to the public and changing positions, etc.,” HE IS DOING IT NOW. Obama is a dangerously Maquiavellian projection screen. When are his supporters going to see that?
Well, if Obama does pick a Repub running mate, maybe all these bots will stop saying, “But at least he’s a Democrat!” As if that’s a good enough reason to vote for Obama.
I don’t know what to believe about John Edwards. I hope it’s not true for Elizabeth’s sake. She’s a truly admirable woman.
Elizabeth would give John a swift kick if he even said it in passing. She is one tough, inspiring woman.
Zeke– that piano thing–ROTFLMAO!!
I live in Georgia, just south of Atlanta…and I’ve been noticing that there are very, very few political stickers to be seen on cars. A few for nobama and some for McCain.
I think that GA voters will quietly go to the polls this Nov and without hype vote for the candidate of their choice. Most of the folks I know here are very uneasy about an OB presidency.
As for me, (unless Hillary is the nominee), I’ll be crossing over to the Repub side for a day to vote for McCain on Nov. 4th.
I bet you were real disappointed when Obama did so well in the GA primary.
But I think you’re right that he won’t win the state — it’s far too conservative.
I’ll bet you were disappointed when Obama did so poorly in Michigan.
Oops. Didn’t even have his name on the ballot. (Like that mattered.)
Please, debbie, give me some examples of another candidate in American history getting votes without even having his name on the ballot. Better yet, give me an example of a candidate receiving votes that were cast for another candidate!!!
Thought so.
You are right about that. As my Georgia cousins report, they haven’t voted Democratic Party since Carter. The GA Republicans always vote in their open primary for the weakest Democrat. The one they see as easiest to defeat in the GE. They love Obama in that scenario. It’s been working well.

This was going to be my point but you beat me to it. McCain and the Rep. WANT Bambam to be the nominee. McCain is playing nice. I am sure the ol’ boy still has plenty of fight in him.
As for the MSM and their interpretation that the whole world is in love with Bambam, up here in Canada I personally DO NOT KNOW a single person who supports him. Now I know I don’t speak for all Canadians, but still, I do know a few. The only people you hear of spouting Obamacrap are the same people that the rest of Canada doesn’t take seriously anyway (make that most of fiberal Toronto).
And as for polls, here’s one for you: has anyone on here ever BEEN polled? I have come to the conclusion that polls are the MSM’s way of steering elections. They mean nothing.
On a side note (sorry to go off-topic), but what I want to know is: Dems are so for getting out of Iraq. Why is it no one is picking up the fact that Bambam wants to take the same troops (and maybe more) and put them in Afghanistan? Isn’t that just trading one war for another?!?
(Not that I would mind because it would be good for us to see our Canadian boys come home from a war we shouldn’t be in in the first place. Not that I want to see American boys die either; I just don’t want our boys dying while cleaning up GWB’s mess).
Cheers…
Oops - sorry abt that!! Didn’t mean to steal your point! But glad we’re on the same page!
As for Iraq/Afghanistan, don’t you think it is just incredibly hypocritical, audacious, and downright crazy for Obama to start talking NOW abt putting troops in Afghanistan (and I agree - your soldiers do not need to be there) when he held NOT ONE MEETING of the subcommittee that oversees Afghanistan??? Because he was campaigning (his words)?? You don’t think the RNC is going to HAMMER him on this? (And they should…) Sheesh.
But back to the question, IMHO, I think many people feel that Afghanistan was the only legitimate theatre in the first place after 9/11.
Other responses?
Obama might be a good candidate in someone’s universe but here he couldn’t fill up a good-sized chair.
Obama choosing a republican woman as his running mate, would be like Bush-41 putting Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court.
A trophy but pure hypocrisy for what it is supposed to represent.
typical — lolol that is too funny. Who is supposed to be impressed that the Democratic Nominee is not a Republican?
About people like debbie:
Remember that there are good reasons that piece of shit repuglies (redundency) are here to promote obama. repuglies don’t want to run against HRC, and would love for those of us who won’t vote for obama to vote for McCain. Please thwart these trolls by promising you won’t vote for McCain.
What you wrote made no logical sense whatsoever. Have you not realized that there is no chance for Clinton to be the nominee? That phase of the presidential election is over.
Oh, and I finished a big section of my grant proposal. Still have more details for the budget.
Please, even BO’s most ardent supporters know that, the Democratic presidential primary does not end until the delegates vote for the nominated candidates at the convention in August; and their ballots are counted. That’s why BO is “negotiating” to ensure that Senator Clinton’s name never gets on the ballot.
Obama’s republican VP?
There’s already loads of evidence to suggest Obama is Rove’s puppet.
Check out the article on Donkey Brazier, she’s all chummy with Rove.
Now we know why Oblahblah is such a liar, and why he voted for FISA. Remember that debbie? Obama voted with the republicans? Obama is looking more and more right wing.
Good bye public Masturbator
hahaha
that was a weird post
Hey, Folks -
This is majorly OT, but I just found out that a gunman opened fire in a UU Church in Knoxville, TN this morning during a children’s production (no children were hurt). Two people were killed, and others injured. They think it was a hate crime as the church has a long history of working on social justice issues, and from statements the gunman allegedly made.
If you wouldn’t mind, and I hope I am not out of line, please take a moment at some point to remember those people and their families.
Live not to far from there, and actually have attended the church. Thank you Rev Amy, it was also a church that allowed, any and all people to worship as they would, pagan, gay, etc. Very, very sad.
Yes, sad, indeed. I scarcely know what to say (and you can tell that is rare for me), except how incredibly tragic that their sacred space was so desecrated by hate… My heart goes out to the families who lost loved ones, as well as those who were injured. But really, they were all injured, as are we all, by this senseless act of hate against good people doing good work.
‘course he is vetting repubs for VP! NO DEMS WILL SOIL THEIR REPUTATIONS RUNNING WITH HIM!
I’m going to cry. Obama never gets punished for anything. I hate him and hope someone assassinates him or his hip injury becomes infected and he dies of sepsis. This is ridiculous. He is an anti-American piece of shit and he gets away with dissing troops, lying, stealing speeches, etc. Too bad one of his friends didn’t blow him up while he was in Iraq. I know this sounds extreme but he is so dangerous. He is most definitely the anti-Christ.
that’s horrible. i can’t believe this post isn’t removed. i can’t stand the guy, but would never feel like that.
i’m sure you’ll be getting a knock on your door soon.
I know this is off the subject. However, I just had to let everyone know about what General Petraeus had to say about Obama’s time table for Iraq.
Obama may want the troops out in his deadline. However, General Petraeus has a different idea about time tables. Therefor, since Obama said that he would listen to the Generals on the ground, I guess if General Petraeus has a different time table than Obama he’ll listen to General Petraeus. RIGHT!!!! Read and see what the General had to say.
Petraeus won’t join bandwagon for Iraq withdrawal timetable
By Nancy A. Youssef | McClatchy Newspapers
BAGHDAD — The top U.S. military commander in Iraq isn’t buying the increasingly popular idea of a publicly stated timetable for American troop withdrawal.
Gen. David Petraeus, the Iraq commander, said in an interview with McClatchy that the situation in Iraq is too volatile to “project out, and to then try to plant a flag on a particular date.”
With violence at its lowest levels of the war, politicians in both the United States and Iraq are getting behind the idea of a departure timetable. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was first, suggesting he would have combat troops home within 16 months of Inauguration Day. The idea got a big boost during his overseas trip last week, when Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki indicated support for that general timeline.
During a Friday interview on CNN’s “The Situation Room,” Republican candidate John McCain, who had opposed setting a timeline, appeared to shift ground. McCain said that 16 months “is a pretty good timetable” but must be based on conditions on the ground.
Meanwhile, the Bush administration has embraced “time horizons” as it negotiates with the Iraqi government a status of forces agreement over the future role of U.S. troops. Petraeus said any timetable must have “a heck of a lot more granularity than the kind of very short-hand statements that have been put out.”
“We occasionally have commanders who have so many good weeks, (they think) it’s won. We’ve got this thing. Well we don’t. We’ve had so many good weeks. Right now, for example we’ve had two-and-a-half months of levels of violence not since March 2004,” he said from his office at Camp Victory.
“Well that’s encouraging. It’s heartening. It’s very welcome. But let’s keep our powder dry. . . .Let’s not let our guard down.”
Petraeus is pushing for what he says as a more nuanced debate as both U.S. and Iraqi political leaders are in campaign seasons, with many voters in both countries wanting to hear there is an end. Maliki is trying to sway voters in time for this fall’s scheduled provincial elections by winning support from his political rival, firebrand cleric Muqtada al Sadr, who has called for a U.S. withdrawal date since 2004.
Throughout his tenure, Petraeus has argued for a drawdown based on conditions, saying that the last of the five surge brigades could leave earlier this month because Iraqi forces are increasingly capable of securing Iraq.
Petraeus said that while both Sunni and Shiite extremists groups are weaker, Iraqi security forces still face threats as the groups try to reconstitute themselves throughout Iraq. And because of that, U.S. and Iraqi forces must not assume that the battle here is won, he said.
Maliki’s surprise spring offensive in the southern port city of Basra was a turning point in the security situation. It rid Iraq’s second-largest city of militia control and bolstered the confidence of both the Iraqi people and military. But the Iraqi security forces turned to U.S. troops to help them win, leading some to call for a more cautious withdrawal plan.
Petraeus has said he believes there will be a “long-term partnership” in which the U.S. acts primarily in an advisory role to Iraqi forces, but with enough combat power to step in and help if major battles erupt. But he said that that like most things in Iraq, plans could change.
“We know where we are trying to go. We know how we think we need to try to get there with our Iraqi partners and increasingly with them in the lead and shouldering more of the burden as they are,” Petraeus said.
“But there are a lot of storm clouds out there, there are lots of these possible lightning bolts. You just don’t know what it could be. You try to anticipate them and you try to react very quickly. . . .It’s all there, but it’s not something you want to lay out publicly.”

I think we are thinking too much in the box. Republican / Democrat. Of course, we do not have much else of a reference to categorize Obama.
I think Obama is…just plain radical. I think he is a pure megalomaniac. I perceive him as a dictator in the making. Obama will always side with whatever and whomever will boost him, and it doesn’t matter which party helps him. Obama has made so many political promises, one can never know what he would have to do in order to repay the favors. One can never know what would happen if he did NOT repay the favors…
Also, there is a bigger reason why so much of the media is in the tank for Obama…no, it is not just because they like him, or that they hated Hillary. I sincerely hope that people understand that what we are experiencing is a propaganda machine. I know we say it all the time, but *really* think about that. Think of the power of the media…do you not see that the “stupidity” of America has been depended on to help Obama get ahead? Constant TV, video games, porn, food, the dumbing down… A lot of people do not question the media in any serious way in the USA anyway. News is true to most of this country–just reporters stating the facts…you know, the news. And what sort of media would an Obama presidency bring? They would let him get away with…anything. The people would never even know what is really going on. Sane people should vote against Obama just because the media is in the tank for him–they would never watchdog him, never expose him, they would help him rule you…
Sigh, well, I am just telling you I see true danger ahead.
I see it the way you see it Kat- Obama is being marketed the way drugs are marketed - see my comment below.
He’s being SHOVED down our throats like drugs. Propaganda, Corporations, Lobbyist, Influence, and Control and the populace is SO dumbed down that we are/have lost our democracy.
The Bush admin laughs at the rule of law and constitution and now the Democrats have Marketed a phony inexperienced creepy candidate for the masses.
My heart and soul hurt because I don’t know how we get America back. This country is so dumbdown and compliant that even the so-called protests are mild and have little affect.
PUMA is making a statement but we need stronger tactics.
ANOTHER ENDORSEMENT FOR OBAMA
The L.A. Times reported on its blog that, ‘A doomed inmate had Obama on his mind before his execution.’
Dale Leo Bishop’s last words before being executed was for people to vote for Obama.
According to the blog, Bishop was a participate in the 1998 beating death (with a claw hammer) of an acquaintance.

Do you think Der Spiegel cover was a SATIRE?? , Do you think they saw what happened to Vanity Fair and have a low tolerance for BS? Seems to me Der Spiegel is not to be out done! LOL
Great read.
Smoke and mirrors?? Who’s the PR Marketer in Obama’s campaign?
A little off topic, but has anyone read Our Daily Meds? An expose about the Big Drug Companies– Apparently the drug companies will “Create a Disease” like over active bladder and then re-package an old generic drug- detrol and make a billion dollars in one year selling it. There are many other New FAKE barely tested drugs with terrible side effects being marketed (as we see everyday on TV commercials). Nexium is just repackaged Prilosec (which is available in generic and over the counter)- I’ve been ripped off big time by that one.
PROSAC and other anti-depressants being shoved down our throats etc…I ask WHY?? Money of course and control?? Dumbing down??
My point is if we (and doctors) can be suckered by marketing smoke and mirrors about new diseases and drug cures a clever PR Marketer and create OBAMA..
Anyone else see a connection like I do?

Re the tabloid story about Obama’s marriage on the line. Pure bunkum. It basically just says Michelle is mad that he let the kids get interviewed and it best not happen again. McCain, Hillary & Bill, even Edwards, getting real flak in the tabloids ALL the time and to make it appear the tabloids are even handed they have to concoct a “non story” about the favored one, BHO. There’s plenty to talk about with BHO, but don’t hold your breath…tabloids won’t touch him because tabloid owners warn them off.
Oh, additionally, that is what is wrong with the tabloids…they pick and choose who they want to destroy, which removes their creditability.
