Obama Using the Troops (UPDATED)

Boy the fur is flying over Obama’s first trip to Europe and his refusal to visit wounded warriors because he could not get a political payoff. John McCain, who has had his own troubles in the past of using U.S. troops as political props, wasted no time bashing Obama for refusing to visit hospitalized soldiers in Germany. According to the Associated Press:
Mr. Obama was flying from London to Chicago on Saturday when the McCain campaign issued a statement from Joe Repya, a retired Army colonel who said Mr. Obama had broken a commitment to visit the wounded Americans, “instead flitting from one European capital to the next.”
“Several explanations were offered, none was convincing and each was at odds with the statements of American military leaders in Germany and Washington,” Mr. Repya said. “For a young man so apt at playing president, Barack Obama badly misjudged the important demands of the office he seeks. Visits with world leaders and speeches to cheering Europeans shouldn’t be a substitute for comforting injured American heroes.”
In turn, Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor said Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain both believed that troops should be honored and noted that the Illinois senator had visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan last week and had made numerous trips to Washington’s Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Mr. Obama still didn’t want injured soldiers “pulled into the back-and-forth of a political campaign,” Mr. Vietor said in a statement.
Oh sure. Barack wasn’t using the troops as a political prop when he was shooting hoops. Right?
Which brings us to the letter from a young Captain apparently attached to the Utah National Guard. Jeffrey Porter, who authored the following letter, is in trouble. Officers are not supposed to take a political position. I believe he is telling the truth but his chain of command has stepped in and are denying his version. I believe Captain Porter was telling what he saw without intending it to become part of the political debate. I held off until now posting the letter because I wanted to be sure it was authentic. I have confirmation from friends in theater that it is legit. Here is Captain Porter giving his take on Barack’s visit:

As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what happened.He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.
As the Soldiers were lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service
So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.
I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and- Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.
If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

This soldier will pay a price for telling the truth. America will pay a price if it does not wake up and realize that Barack is the consummate opportunist and is a typical politician when it comes to using troops as part of his campaign.
His decision to blow off the troops recovering from their wounds will dog him the rest of this campaign. Well it should.
UPDATED: After the Obama campaign’s screaming snit with DOD officials, we are now informed that Captain Porter “RECANTED” his letter. JESUS CHRIST!!! We are acting like old style Stalinists or Maoists. Don’t remember? Back during the Cold War it was commonplace for “counter revolutionaries” to be paraded in public and recant/denounce things they had previously written or said. Here is poor Captain Porter, who by virtue of his place in the military, has no option but to follow orders (unless he wants to go to the stockade). Read the so-called “recant” very carefully:
But the Military Times newspaper reported on Friday that Porter is now asking those who received a copy of the e-mail to delete it and is asking bloggers who posted his letter to take it down from their sites.
“Some of the information that was put out in my e-mail was wrong,” Porter wrote, according to the Times, which is published by Gannett. “This e-mail was meant only for my family.”
The Obama campaign reacted quickly to the e-mail, posting on its Web site photos, videos and media accounts of Obama meeting with U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
As I noted above, Captain Porter had no idea that his letter would go viral. However, the only “error” in his letter is that it got wide circulation. Captain Porter is a solid young man who had the “audacity” to offer his view of what was really going on behind the carefully staged scenes to portray Obama as a guy loved by the troops. Leave it to the lefties in the Obama tent to press for a soldier to “recant.”

It doesn’t say he recanted, that he just meant the email for his family.
Did you see the fake email though from someone who claims to have clearance. That one seems fake to me. Didn’t even sign his name. I could have written it for all anyone knows.

The fact that Obama snubbed the wounded soldiers in Germany just adds credence to the email. Even if it weren’t true about Afghanistan, it was true about Germany.

I do not question anything that yo have written here-however-for independent journalists that may want to follow through on what you have written here- can you please include LINKS to your sources of information. If you do this, it makes the job of citizen journalists and independent journalists and serious bloggers easier when they post. Also, there are many Obama supporters out there who really truly believed in this guy- it is important that the facts (along with sources of tehse facts) are presented to these individuals in a respectful, well-documented manner. It sure seems like there was a lot of disputing of *facts* for an email that is a fake.
But, they never prove Porter is a fake.

In one of the most recent explanations they seem to have accidentally told the truth. He could not bring his campaign staff with him to the hospital, but could bring Senate staff. He did not have any Senate staff with him on the trip.
This is problematic in two ways. He did not want to go to the hospital alone. Why? Does he have staff with him in the room when talking to heads of state, or does he just need staff talking to wounded military personnel. Is is appropriate to drag campaign staff into foreign government meetings. Secondly they claimed this was not a political campaign trip. If he took no Senate staff it most certainly was a campaign trip and only a campaign trip even when he was with Reed and Hagel. He cannot use campaign staff on Senate business.

A week later, if you repeat her statements to her she will either adamantly deny that she made them, or explain how you misunderstood her intention. Frequently, the tales she regales her ardent listeners with when she is in a Manic phase are events from someone else’s life she fondly remembers as her own experiences, or stories from a movie or book she has also adapted to her current version of reality. Sound like anyone you may have heard of?
I have considered Obama an NPD for quite some time, but now I am starting to wonder if he suffers from one (or more) of the more “common” mental disorders as well. The part I don’t get, though, is how those around him cannot see that there is something wrong. You would think by now that someone in the campaign would have noticed his odd behavior. I think his campaign is full of people who thrive on this type of constant crisis of trying to excuse Obama’s behavior. There is a personality disorder where chaos and crisis are necessary in their daily lives and if absent they will either create crisis situations or seek out situations where it is present. What better way to get your “fix” than to work on Obama’s campaign.
Antidotal data only, it would take a real scientific study to prove or disprove this theory but while it would exhaust most of us, as you observed, they are exhilarated. And from what most of you have observed of Obama fans, they do like the adrenaline high of accosting others and creating an uncomfortable and threatening situation which forces their targets to back away or respond in the same aggressive way.
Which is one of the reasons I agree with you that most of the trolls on this site are paid; they usually sound as if it is a debate where they have chosen one side to defend.

Problem is both of McCain’s parents were American citizens. Obama’s birth father was a foreign national. So was his stepfather. Big difference.
McCain produced an original birth certificate, at a live press conference, with a signature and a raised seal when questions were raised. Why won’t Obama do the same?

And given the fact, as was mentioned, that his father was a foreign national as was his stepfather and the fact he lived in a state that had only been recently named one at the time of his birth and lived out of the country as a young child, these are legitimate questions.
His dismissive attitude is part of the problem along with the fact that McCain showed his when asked.

What I’ve consistently found by talking to people across the state of Illinois is that whether you supported the war or opposed the war, there’s a uniform insistence on the need for us to honor and care for our veterans. This isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s a moral obligation we have to each other. And I think that anyone who doubts the worthiness of that cause should take the time to make their own visit to Walter Reed.

Barack Obama is scheduled to pay a solemn visit to wounded Iraq veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington on Saturday, Politico has learned.
The visit will be Obama’s third.
Obama’s staff is keeping his trip low-key. It is not on his public schedule, and his campaign would not confirm it. A pool of reporters will go with him, but will not accompany him inside.
This is even more despicable! He gets some heat for not visiting wounded vets in Germany so he scurries right over to Walter Reed to mend that. What a pandering piece of crap this man is.
And the corporate press that worships at his feet will faithfully “report” on the goodness of the “One” for his condescension in visiting wounded military personnel. Barf and double barf!

A memo sent out Wednesday from Undersecretary of Defense David Chu explained that Obama’s visit to such a military facility would be limited under these circumstances. Obama would not have been able to bring any of his campaign staff — only one Senate staffer and security. He also would not have been able to address the media or make any campaign-related statements.
“Sen. Obama is welcome to visit Landstuhl or any military hospital in his official capacity as a United States senator,” Morrell said in a brief interview. “But there is a DOD policy which governs campaigning and electioneering at military facilities that would have to be respected if he were to visit. That distinction was relayed and made clear to campaign, and they made a decision on their own based on that guidance.”
Morrell, in a subsequent interview, added that military officials told Obama he could only visit the military facility with his Secret Service detail and Senate staff.
“We made it clear to him that campaign staff and press would not be permitted to accompany him,” Morrell said of Obama. “We relayed those ground rules. They made a choice based upon the information we relayed to them. It was their choice. We had nothing to do with it.”
Military personnel at Ramstein Air Force Base, where the senator was to fly into, had already made arrangements to accommodate Obama’s traveling press pack and campaign staff while he visited the wounded troops, Morrell said.
Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters Friday that a trip from Berlin to Ramstein had been planned for weeks, with Obama expecting to leave most staff and reporters at the airport while he went to the hospital to avoid appearances of a campaign event. After the Pentagon raised concerns within two days of the visit, it was scrapped, he said.
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said Obama would have been required to conform to the Defense Department prohibtion of political activity, but that the senator was never told he couldn’t visit the hospital.

He did not take any Senate staff on the trip. He did not have anyone to go to the hospital with him. He would not go alone with the Secret Service. This was a campaign trip on which he took no Senate staff because it is illegal for government employees to do campaign work so he left them in D.C. This was a campaign trip and only a campaign trip. He did no Senate work without staff unless he used Reed’s and Hagel’s staff before the parted with them to go to Germany. What a weasel telling the world it was not a campaign trip.
I just hope those in charge of Our tax money demand receipts for every expenditure Obama asks the government to pay because this international campaign trip is going to put a serious dent in his election funds just in the cost for his private jet (considering the cost of fuel alone) and it can’t be legally labeled a “Senate fact finding trip” if only campaign staff accompanied him.
Whatever he was doing over there was illegal in more than one way. There are strong indications of violations of the Logan Act which will require investigation unless micro-manager Bush gave Obama permission to act for him. (Documentation please!)
And, since he can’t legally accept gifts from foreign governments, and it is not an Official visit, his campaign is responsible for the cost of food and lodging for Obama and his staff in every country he visited; plus responsibility for security costs in every country.
I’ll hazard a guess that he’ll be pretty much tapped out when he pays for this gigantic tour and will be asking for Senator Clinton’s help from her donors. Unless Congress passes special legislation to use Our tax money to pick up the tab for his maiden voyage abroad.
I voted for the Obama Relief Bill before I voted against it!
Well, in that case, why is he visiting heads of state and working out his future relations with them? Isn’t that political, or something senators should do officially, or something? Just another chance to be Both Ways Barack?

Barack Obama Refuses To Attend Townhall Style Event With Military Members And Veterans
The New York Times reports that a coalition of military groups are planning a nationally televised event, which CBS has agreed to broadcast, for both presidential candidates. John McCain accepted but the planners cannot get Barack Obama to commit.
The event would be a townhall style at the Expo Center in Belton, Texas, which is near Fort Hood, Texas, which is the largest active-duty military base in the country.
The organizers for this event are American Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans for Common Sense and Military Spouse Corporate Career Network. Recently the FRA joined with the the 2008 Fort Hood Presidential Town Hall Consortium.
CBS has agreed to broadcast the meeting live from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Aug. 11. The candidates would face questions directly from an audience of 6,000 people, made up of veterans, service members and military families from the base.
The Obama campaign cited scheduling conflicts are their reason for not agreeing to attend.
Phillip Carter who is the director of Obama’s veterans effort and an Iraq war veteran, said, “Senator Obama strongly supports America’s veterans and military families and has worked hard on their behalf in the Senate. While we unfortunately had a previously scheduled commitment on the date proposed, Senator Obama looks forward to continuing the dialogue he’s been having throughout the country with veterans on how we can better serve our men and women in uniform as they serve us.”
The organizers then made it clear they would adjust their scheduling to accommodate Obamas, and even with that offer, the Obama campaign is refusing to commit.
Pardon my language, but bullsh*t. He’s turned down every opportunity to take unscripted questions from the American public. I’ve seen the video of one unscripted meeting and he yelled at the woman asking the question. He also never answered her question.

I just saw this ad and the story on AOL. (Link below) I love the fact the Pentagon denied that they told him he couldn’t go—it was just that he wasn’t allowed to make a spectacle out of it. I think that part of the story is the most telling of all. If he’s not the center of attention, then it’s not worth his time.

Exactly. He couldn’t have “his” moment. It isn’t about him when visiting wounded troops. He couldn’t gain anything from the visit, so he didn’t go.
Obama seems to have forgotten the most important thing and that is he is visiting a military hospital where very seriously wounded men are fighting for their lives. They don’t need to bustle of a campaign staff following around some candidate. I’m sure any patient would appreciate a quiet visit from any government official willing to visit with them but those officials must remember that it about the patient and not them.
We’ve all been there and many of us have sat quietly in ICU waiting rooms for those few minutes we could see our loved one so we know the responsibility Obama has to not make these visits about himself or his presidential desires.
Every morning I wake up and can’t believe this is not a nightmare. Why in the world would millions of people be supporting someone like this for President of the United States? People have such low expectations that anyone will do as long as Bush or a Republican is not in office. Obama didn’t hold hearings while he was head of the Foreign Relations Committee so that should be one indication of how much concern he has for the troops.
I feel sorry for that military person who wrote the e-mail. More suppression of free speech.

If you’re an officer, it might fall under violation of general instructions to officers in a command area or some other such mumbo.

Obama and his campaign claim the trip to the hospital was on his schedule. With over 300 “advisors” with him and with instructions from the Pentagon known in advance, Obama could have taken that trip and the only mention would have been that he visited the hospital OR there could have been no mention at all.
Instead, Obama MADE the visit political. He couldn’t have his cameras with him or his 2 star general in tow to try to “sway” the wounded soldiers in their opinion of Obama so instead he opted out ov the visit all together.
Obama also had Hagel and Reed traveling with him and surely those two veteran politicians knew the rules as well as Obama’s camp.
Obama and his campaign can spin it anyway they want, but Obama wanted a photo op for campaign reasons and since he could not get it he opted out of seeing the troops from his district.
Don’t you get it??? Playing hoops in a war zone was an effort to make up for not chairing a meeting of his Afganistan/Nato committee!!!!! Who cares about the “troops” actually trying to stop the infiltration over the Pakistan border??

He was forced to write the 2nd paragraph just below my message, If you read his retraction you will see that he is asking everyone to delete it, as it WAS MEANT FOR HIS FAMILY ONLY! I am glad that he got that sentence in there for it shows that he was telling the TRUTH and was forced to write the retraction. I talked to DeLinda last night and she said she had talked to Sherri and that Jeffery’s family was visibly upset because they weren’t sure what would happen to him. He can only e-mail her now by having everything he writes to her monitored. If you will read below where Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green made his statement about Army personal being barred from talking about anything political, then keep reading, you will see that after Jeffrey had to make his retraction the Dept of Defense put together a video of Obama with those chosen for his Photo Op’s to further prove that Jeffrey is lying, then they cleared the way for others to talk about his visit and everything is positive by those that were chosen to post and further tar and feather Jeffrey. Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service. So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you. I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.
If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

Origins: Tales of prominent Democrats snubbing or acting rudely towards military and security personnel (and tales of those personnel responding in kind) have been a common form of political rumor over the last few decades, so it was probably only a matter of time before an example of such popped up during the 2008 presidential election cycle.
The above-quoted account of Senator Barack Obama’s supposedly “blowing off” military personnel in Afghanistan started hitting our inbox almost immediately after the senator’s visit to that country during his July 2008 trip to the Middle East. It’s difficult to independently verify the details recounted above because press coverage of Senator Obama’s Middle East visit was severely limited, but according to an Army spokesperson (as quoted in the New York Daily News) they are false:
The latest chain e-mail smear against Barack Obama: He “blew off” troops at an Afghan base to shoot hoops for a publicity photo.
The e-mail claims Obama repeatedly shunned soldiers on his way to the Clamshell – a recreation tent – to “take his publicity pictures playing basketball.”
“These comments are inappropriate and factually incorrect,” said Bagram spokeswoman Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, who added that such political commentary is barred for uniformed personnel.
Obama didn’t play basketball at Bagram or visit the Clamshell, she said. Home-state troops were invited to meet him, but his arrival was kept secret for security reasons.
“We were a bit delayed … as he took time to shake hands, speak to troops and pose for photographs,” Nielson-Green said.
In a follow-up blog entry, the Daily News reported that the e-mail’s author has recanted his original message:

It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country,” the captain wrote.

Additionally, video of his trip provided by the Department of Defense shows Obama greeting, shaking hands, and talking and eating with military personnel in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and we’ve also received numerous other messages such as the following from military personnel who said they encountered Senator Obama during his Middle East trip and had quite different experiences with the Democratic presidential candidate:
BTW, we have been cleared to discuss it now, but I did meet Obama. He came through here on Friday, his first stop in theater. He was with 3 senators and loads of secret service. One of the senators was from RI, and we just happen to have one of the two people here from RI, so she got to have lunch with her senator.
My folks and I spent about the last 4 days leading up to his visit jumping through hoops to get radio comms, etc. straight. He went from the plane to the chow hall and shook everyone’s hand and ate lunch with a select few. I did meet him and shake his hand. There was pictures taken, but there were only a few who were allowed to take pictures, so I don’t know if I can a copy. He asked me where I was from and what I do here. I told him I was in Communications. He then asked what part of the Communications field, which I then replied I was an Operations Flight Commander, I get into everything.
He laughed.
I guess the biggest thing about seeing him in person is he extremely skinny. I guess he doesn’t get time to eat. Ha, Ha.
There was a Civil Engineer NCO who told Obama his son was going to vote for him. Obama asked him how old was his son, and he said 8! Obama ended up flagging down one of scribes and got the guys home address so Obama could write his son and thank him for wanting to vote for him.

I am an officer in Afghanistan and took photos of Obama greeting the troops. He was very cordial and likeable.
I don’t know who this captain saw, but it wasn’t the Barack Obama *I* just saw in Afghanistan. Unlike most of the pols who breeze on through for nothing more than brief photo ops before leaving he was warm, friendly & engaging (as much as security would allow) with the troops he met and he was genuinely interested in us and our mission and how we could best serve our country. When Obama went to Jordan a few days ago they said “The guy gets it. Sharp, aware and a very good listener. He doesn’t seem stuck in preconceived positions.” Those are the qualities *I*’d like to see in my Commander in Chief. While Obama was out visiting the troops, what was John McCain doing …?, playing golf with his rich cronies (Bush Sr.) in Kennbunkport and whining about how much press coverage Obama was getting. Definitely *not* the qualities I want to see in my Commander in Chief.
Personally I think any officer who would publically gripe about not getting “thanked” for his service by a civilian is a disgrace to the military.

CPT Porter wasn’t even there. He claims Obama went to play basketball with troops, which isn’t true. Obama went to the Headquarters buildings to have meetings with the Generals and then he flew to meet soldiers at Jalalabad. CPT Porter lied and said that he played basketball with troops at Bagram, when fact of the matter is – is that he got this info from reading the newsheadlines that say he played bball in Kuwait. I met Sen Obama and I’ve also submitted photos of him in Afghanistan for you to view. He thanked me for my service and was forever grateful for the sacrifices me and my family are making while I am out here.
I am disgusted to be serving alongside a liar like Captain Porter, I hope he gets court martialed for lying.

Those comments posted by supposed others that were there, sure sound like our friendly trolls who visit us here. Do they pay them in the military to post crap too? I don’t believe a word of these posts puporting to refute the original. He told the truth, meant for his family only, and unfortunately he might be punished for it. It’s disgusting how fast the OB hate machine gears up when there is the least hint that the great one is being ratted out. Truth to these people never exists except what they make up in their heads and spit out too the public. Man I hate liars. He CANNOT get the chance to run this country.
I have responded to this elsewhere, but the notion that Tiffany was somehow innocent in all of this is ludicrous. Whomever you support – McCain, Clinton or Obama – one thing that everyone should agree on is that servicemen dragging their families into political minefields is NOT something that is acceptable.
What saddens me most is that this particular Captain would choose to hide behind the skirts of his wife in spreading this smear. What kinds of values are these parents attempting to instill in their children?
They are both equally culpable in this noxious effort to undermine the political process, despite the line that he puportedly is “not a very political person.” I am surprised THAT line didn’t immediately raise a red flag before the more gullible decided to pass it along!

John Edwards, the other former Democrat candidate for president, is a lawyer, and so is his wife, Elizabeth. Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law school (although Gore did not graduate). Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd Bentsen, went to law school. Look at the Democrat Party in Congress: the Majority Leader in each house is a lawyer.
The Republican Party is different. President Bush and Vice President Cheney were not lawyers, but businessmen. The leaders of the Republican Revolution were not lawyers. Newt Gingrich was a history professor; Tom Delay was an exterminator; and, Dick Armey was an economist. House Minority Leader Boehner was a plastic manufacturer, not a lawyer. Who was the last Republican president who was a lawyer? Gerald Ford, who left office 31 years ago and who barely won the Republican nomination as a sitting president, running against Ronald Reagan in 1976. The Lawyers’ Party sees these sorts of people, who provide goods and services that people want, as the enemies of America. And, so we have seen the proc ession of official enemies, in the eyes of the Lawyers’ Party, grow. Against whom do Hillary and Obama rail? Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals, manufacturers, fast food restaurant chains, large retail businesses, bankers, and anyone producing anything of value in our nation.
This is the natural consequence of viewing everything through the eyes of lawyers. Lawyers solve problems by successfully representing their clients, in this case the American people. Lawyers seek to have new laws passed, they seek to win lawsuits, they press appellate courts to overturn precedent, and lawyers always parse language to favor their side.
Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine. But it is an awful way to govern a great nation. When politicians as lawyers begin to view some Americans as clients and other A m ericans as opposing parties, then the role of the legal system in our life becomes all-consuming. Some Americans become “adverse parties” of our very government. We are not all litigants in some vast social class-action suit. We are citizens of a republic that promises us a great deal of freedom from laws, from courts, and from lawyers.
Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by judicial decisions; we are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once private lives. America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and reasonable, not vast and unchecked. When the most important decision for our next president is whom he will appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big. When lawyers use criminal prosecution as a continuation of politics by other means, as happened in the lynching of Scooter Li bby and Tom Delay, then the power of lawyers in America is too great. When House Democrats sue America in order to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.
What about the recent Supreme Court decision that gives constitutional rights now to terrorists, who are not U.S. citizens living here under the rule of our Constitution, but who are murderous thugs, enemies during a time of war who are trying to destroy our country, our people and the Constitution!!!
We CANNOT expect the Lawyers’ Party to provide real change, real reform, or real hope in America. Most Americans know that a republic in which every major government action must be blessed by nine unelected judges is not what Washington intended in 1789. Most Americans grasp that we cannot fight a war when ACLU lawsuits snap at the heels of our defenders. Most Americans intuit that more lawyers and judges will not restore declining moral values or spark the spirit of enterprise in our economy.
Perhaps Americans will understand that change cannot be brought to our nation by the lawyers who already largely dictate American society and business. Perhaps Americans will see that hope does not come from the mouths of lawyers but from personal dreams nourished by hard work. Perhaps Americans will embrace the truth that more lawyers with more power will only make our problems worse.
Wake up America before it is too late!
Democratic Leaders better hope that Senator Clinton is still willing to accept the nomination at the convention, otherwise they will lose the election to the Republicans in November.

I will say this I am sort of an expert on the UCMJ or was as I taught the Uniform Code of Military Justice during Indoctrination Division while I was active duty.This is the “class” that lasted a few days that newly reporting sailors were required to take. The UCMJ is required to be re-read every so often. Correction for Larry, no active duty military (enlisted or commissioned) may take a political stand one way or the other while in uniform.
It is punishable under Article 134 of the UCMJ. The catch all article is what I call it. This article applies to anything not covered in specific Articles in the UCMJ.

Obama claims to be for all American’s and that he will unite the Blue and Red States by winning over Republicans and Independents. So, how does Obama plan to reach out to win over Republicans and Independents in these states?

If Sen. Obama rejects the Rev. Wright’s warped view of this country, why does he continue to attend his church?
Imagine if Mitt Romney’s church proclaimed on its website that it is “unashamedly white.”
The media would pounce, and Romney’s presidential candidacy would be over. Yet that is exactly what Barack Obama’s church says on its web site — except in reverse.
“We are a congregation which is unashamedly black and unapologetically Christian,” says the Trinity United Church of Christ’s website in Chicago. “We are an African people and remain true to our native land, the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.”
That’s just the beginning. The church has a “non-negotiable commitment to Africa,” according to its website, and its pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. subscribes to what is called the Black Value System.
While the Black Value System includes such items as commitment to God, education, and self-discipline, it refers to “our racist competitive society” and includes the disavowal of the pursuit of “middle-classness” and a pledge of allegiance to “all black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System.” It defines “middle-classness” as a way for American society to “snare” blacks rather than “killing them off directly” or “placing them in concentration camps,” just as the country structures “an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.”
In sermons and interviews, Dr. Wright has equated Zionism with racism and Israel with South Africa under its previous policy of apartheid. On the Sunday after 9/11, Wright said the attacks were a consequence of violent American policies. Four years later, Wright suggested that the attacks were retribution for America’s racism.
“In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01,” Wright wrote in a church-affiliated magazine. “White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.”
In one of his sermons, Wright said, “Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!…We [in the U.S.] believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.”
As for Israel, “The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for over 40 years now,” Wright has said. “Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community and wake up Americans concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism.”
Obama says he found religion and Jesus Christ through Wright, whom he met in the mid-1980s. He has been attending Wright’s church regularly since 1988.
The church occupies a tan building on West 95th Street near a public housing project and railroad tracks. Since becoming pastor in 1972, Wright has seen the church’s membership grow to more than 8,500. The church is the largest congregation in the United Church of Christ, a predominantly white denomination known for its liberal politics.
In 1991, Obama joined the church and walked down the aisle in a formal commitment of faith. Wright later married Obama and Michelle Robinson and baptized their two daughters.
The title of Obama’s bestseller “The Audacity of Hope” comes from one of Wright’s sermons. Wright is one of the first people Obama thanked after his election to the Senate in 2004.
But Obama’s life does not exactly support Wright’s thesis that blacks in America are oppressed. A Harvard Law School graduate, Obama married a black Princeton graduate who also has a degree from Harvard Law School. Obama is a U.S. senator from Illinois; his wife is a vice president of the University of Chicago Hospitals. With his wife, Obama has been making more than $1 million a year.
On a few points, Obama has sought to distance himself from Wright’s teachings or explain them away. While Wright is his pastor and friend, Obama has said, they do not see eye to eye on everything. In particular, Obama has said he “strongly disagrees with any portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that advocates divestment from Israel or expresses anything less than strong support for Israel’s security.”
As for Wright’s repeated comments blaming America for the 9/11 attacks, Obama has said it sounds as if the minister was trying to be “provocative.”
Just before Obama’s nationally televised campaign kickoff rally last Feb. 10, the candidate disinvited Wright from giving the public invocation. Wright explained: “When [Obama’s] enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli” to visit Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, “a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.”
According to Wright, Obama then told him, “’You can get kind of rough in the sermons, so what we’ve decided is that it’s best for you not to be out there in public.’” But privately, Obama and his family prayed with Wright just before the presidential announcement.
To his credit, Obama so far has avoided race-specific appeals as part of his candidacy, accounting in part for his widespread appeal.
Obama “has taught the black community you don’t have to act like Jesse Jackson, you don’t have to act like Al Sharpton,” conservative commentator Bill Bennett said on CNN on Jan. 3. “You can talk about the issues. [Obama has] great dignity.”
But if Obama rejects Wright’s warped view of this country, why does he continue to attend his church, raising the question of whether Obama secretly agrees with his friend and mentor? At the least, Obama’s membership in Wright’s church suggests a lack of judgment and an insensitivity to views that are repugnant to the vast majority of white Americans who are not bigots.
That same lack of judgment has shown up in Obama’s gaffes—threatening to invade Pakistan and offering prompt negotiations with anti-American despots. More frightening, Obama voted last August to give Osama bin Laden and other terrorists the same rights as Americans when it comes to intercepting their overseas calls in order to pick up clues needed to stop another attack.
Jen Psaki, a spokesman for Obama’s campaign, has tried to paper over the candidate’s support of the Black Value System by saying that Obama “believes its basic tenets of commitment to God, to community, to self-discipline and self-reliance continue to have applicability not only to the African-American community but to all people.”
But that is not what the Black Value System says. One can only imagine the outrage that would erupt if a white presidential candidate like Romney subscribed to something called the White Value System. Yet while Obama has been referred to in the media tens of thousands of times in the past month, only one story in the Concord Monitor in New Hampshire offhandedly mentioned Obama’s church’s “unashamedly black” slogan.
In contrast, in an exquisite example of the double standard they apply to Democrats versus Republicans, the media love to focus on Romney’s religion, which is not relevant to how he would perform as president. Close to half the media references to Romney refer to the fact that he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Very few of them mention that he is both a Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School graduate, credentials that are relevant to how he would perform as president.
When Romney’s father ran for president, his religion was not an issue simply because the media rightly recognized that it was not pertinent to his candidacy. Today, as part of their coverage of Romney, the media run denigrating quotes about Mormonism that they would never dare to run about any other religion. At the same time, the media have largely ignored or downplayed the clearly racist slogan of Obama’s church and the anti-American and anti-Israel stances of its pastor.
In two exceptions to the media blackout, Tucker Carlson of MSNBC described Trinity as having a “racially exclusive theology” that “contradicts the basic tenets of Christianity.” Sean Hannity of Fox News confronted Wright on TV and asked how a black value system is any more acceptable than a white value system.
If a white presidential candidate’s church had a similar statement and “you substitute the word black for white, there would be an outrage in this country,” Hannity said. “There would be cries of racism in this country.’”
“If your spiritual advisor makes outrageous statements, it’s incumbent on you as a leader to denounce those statements,” says Brad Blakeman, a former Bush White House aide who heads the conservative Freedom’s Watch. “Silence is an admission that you agree with what your spiritual advisor pronounces.”
If his church membership calls into question Obama’s judgment, the dichotomy in the coverage of his and Romney’s religious affiliations spotlights the media’s double standard and how its skewed reporting influences who will become president.
But media bias or not, if Obama is his party’s nominee, his Republican opponent will rightly be able to make use of Rev. Wright and his radical teachings as effectively as supporters of George H.W. Bush used Willie Horton’s furlough to help Bush win the presidency.
So its racist if a white church has a white value system? But if a black church has one its not? Whats wrong with this picture? Shouldn’t it be a people value system instead of a black or white one???

It’s state-by-state that matters, and McCain has been steadily pulling ahead of El Presumptussimo in states that Democrats need to win.

It seems Senator Barack Obama intends to prove himself completely ignorant of foreign affairs and irrelevant in the Democratic nomination contest. First, during the You Tube debate, he asserted he would personally meet with the leaders of Iran, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela without preconditions in his first year in office. Senator Hillary Clinton immediately pounced on the gaffe, pointing out the potential propaganda use of such a meeting unless a strong diplomatic effort had ensured something positive to be gained by it.
If Obama were smart, he would have admitted he “misspoke” and moved on. Instead, he cluelessly defended his ridiculous position with vigor. THEN, Obama insisted that even as he turned tail and ran from Iraq like a frightened child he would unilaterally invade Pakistan to go after terrorists. The man obviously either has never given a thought to the consequences of violating the sovereignty of the only Islamic nation with nuclear weapons, or is just plain dumb. NOW, Obama unilaterally rules out using nuclear weapons under any circumstances in the War on Terror. No American President has ever removed the nuclear option from the table, for good reasons. Obama keeps proving he isn’t even close to being qualified for the Presidency.
Why is this man still in the race? Can’t Stand him, especially those who choose to vote for him. Just because he agrees with Same Sex Marriage, Abortion, More POWER for the African American Race, and yet he isn’t focused on the MAJOR important things that America needs.
