PUMAs Are “Surging”

Newsbusters.org has written a great article on PUMA power today, “MSM Mostly Ignores Surge of Anti-Obama PUMA Democrat Activity.” A choice quote:

Imagine if a bunch of disgruntled Mitt Romney supporters were currently stalking John McCain or Republican events loudly demanding that their candidate be nominated. Think the national press would be featuring it bigtime as an example of Republican party disunity? Well, the same thing is happening except the people are disgruntled Democrats expressing their opposition of Barack Obama while loudly continuing to support Hillary Clinton. … PUMA activities seem to be surging lately. …

JustSayNoDeal.com reports more coverage today, including a dynamite LTE, “Party leadership, Obama rejected by these Dems” published in today’s Indianapolis Star newspaper and an original article published at Raw Story, “Hillary supporters, still angry, frustrate attempts at party unity. The Raw Story report features the highly successful protest by PUMA members during Howard Dean’s speech in Charlotte, North Carolina:First, the IndyStar LTE which concisely sums up essential concerns about Barack Obama’s candidacy:

Party leadership, Obama rejected by these DemsWe know very little about Barack Obama, but we do know he is unwilling to take a firm stance on issues. He said he would accept public financing for the general election, and later rejected it.He voted in favor of the government’s eavesdropping program and legal immunity for telecommunications companies after promising his supporters he would reject it.He advocates both an individual’s right to own a gun and the government’s right to regulate ownership. He assured America he would negotiate a better deal with NAFTA and then winked to the Canadian government that this was simply political posturing. He assured his supporters he would pull all American troops out of Iraq immediately. Now he calls this impossible. The list is endless.I am a member of PUMA PAC (People United Means Action), a group of citizens who favored Hillary Clinton and are motivated by belief that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has abrogated its responsibility to represent the interests of all Democrats in all 50 states. I and thousands of other PUMA members will not vote for Obama, the DNC’s selected, not elected, nominee.Dylan AsdalePUMA PAC DemocratAvon

Here’s a quote from the section of the Raw Story report about that dramatic Charlotte, N.C. protest:

Protesters brought their anger over the supposed mistreatment of Hillary Clinton by the Democratic Party to a Howard Dean appearance in Charlotte Friday, some carrying signs that read “Dump Dean.”Two dozen of the New York Senator’s supporters shouted down the Democratic National Committee Chairman with a chorus of, “I own my vote!” the Charlotte Observer reported. The protest was sparked by a rumor that Clinton’s name would not be put in for nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Denver next month. The supporters were loud enough that Dean was forced to stop his speech to the 150 people who showed up for the voting rally and address the demonstrators. …

Read all of the Raw Story report, which also covers PUMA members’ statements and strategies in Texas and elsewhere.

PUMAs rock!!!

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-07-28 19:32:31

PUMAs DO rock, but the analogy made regarding Romney and Hillary is nowhere CLOSE. In fact, it is illogical – Romney was not forced out, he chose to leave, and MORE IMPORTANTLY – he did not win the vast majority of big and swing states, and did not get more of the popular vote. I appreciate their trying to be catchy or pithy or whatever, and maybe it is because this has never ever happened before that the candidate with the most votes was NOT the presumed nominee, but it is, IMHO, not a flattering comparison. We support Clinton because she is, hands down, the best candidate. And we are angry at the DNC because they engaged in voter fraud, intimidation, and theft; and they engaged in rigging the nomination in general. They could not be FURTHER away from the meaning of “democratic.” THAT is why we are angry, not just because the best candidate, the one who was ELECTED, was not the one SELECTED.

Oh wait – here’s a comparison – we’re like people who continued supporting Gore because he actually HAD the most votes (electoral college, too, when they were actually COUNTED), but was not the one who ended up in the White House. Much better than comparing us to ROMNEY supporters.

Comment by Dawnelle leóna del puma | 2008-07-28 20:59:44

R..R..R..AMY,

I didn’t even support GORE cuz he CAVED for very long after until he did the Global Thing then he got my attention again.

No ONE was a qualified, dignified or true as was Sen. Clinton.

Romney, Gore, pffft, they could shine her shoes.

jmo :-)

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-07-28 22:18:38

Oh, right on, Dawnelle – I feel the same way abt Gore. My mom asked me the other day if I saw his recent speech, and I told her, emphatically, HECK NO! And why. She adores Hillary, is VERY upset abt all of the sexism and the propping up of Obama, and once I told her Gore endorsed him, she totally got it (she’s 78, btw).

And yeah – none of those people could sign her shoes. I think that is why they are hellbent on putting her down at every opportunity – they know it!!

I also write PUMA across the donations section, then I mail the whole thing back. I’ll keep on doing this as long as I get mail from the DNC and the Obama campaign.

I write all over it in large capital letters:

Sometimes I write it all over the envelope and then cross out my address and put “Return to Sender.” Sometimes I open it and write all over it, and then send it back using their postage. I hope they’ll stop.

Party leaders have every reason to be very worried. I hope PUMA can generate a lot of attention at the Democratic Convention. I live in Colorado. I would say the NBC affliate I watch is being spoon-fed their reporting on the campaign. But if the PUMA people can connect with the other networks and the independents during convention time, I would hope they would get fair coverage, not just in Colorado, but across the country. It is a huge story and deserves much more attention than it is getting.

Even without PUMA, I think many people see right through the Democrats “selection” process. They don’t like it and THEY are very angry.

I don’t know who the DNC has to be angry with except themselves….the two-faced, arrogant, petty, lying would-be tyrants that they are.

One other thing, Party Leaders. Please tell Obama’s fan club at Invesco Field to behave themselves. It is a really stupid idea to have the acceptance speech there. Stupid. I repeat, STUPID.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-28 12:48:14

I agree. PUMA is tiny compared to the vast number of voters out there, and he’s not knocking it out of the park.

The elitist really think Hillary supporters will fall in line but they should start realizing that it’s not going to happen. Comment by educatedwhitewoman | 2008-07-28 11:27:14

The MSM may be ignoring this story, but Dean, the DNC, and the Obama campaign are not. The Obama campaign has effectively taken over the DNC and it intends to fill Invesco Field with 80,000 Obama activists, who must earn their right to be there, will be bussed to Denver from across the country, and will intimidate the opposition (superdelegates and Hillary supporters), along with the very real fear of things getting out of hand. I can just hear the not-so-veiled threats from Brazille, Rangel, and other AA’s about what might happen if the nominations is “stolen” from Obama, who, the evidence shows, actually stole it from Hillary.

Comment by madamab | 2008-07-28 11:38:21

Comment by Darryl | 2008-07-28 11:54:42

I say let them riot. Although a very sad situation, this would be a good thing, and would actually make Obama look even worse, because he would have only two choices. Call for those people to stop rioting (which I think won’t happen) or he will let them contiue their destructive rampage through the streets.

In either case it will make HIM look bad.

Comment by eriezindian | 2008-07-28 13:11:51

Agree!!! Why is this party afraid to do what is right?? I am not worried about riots. The Founding Fathers did what was right……..we should do no less and if someone has a problem with that, let them riot. They will look bad, not the voters who wanted their voices to be heard.

Comment by dgr | 2008-07-28 15:24:27

My guess is that the people who are signing up and attending Camp Obama will be the major source of the audience for the snObama coronation.

Camp Obama will be a tightly controlled “training” session where the core supporters will be identified and selected.

This really reminds me of the way the communists select their party members — one had to prove loyalty to the party — not the Country — but the party.

I can understand why the founding fathers/writers of the Constitution did mention nor support political parties.

The Obamacrat party is all about loyalty to one ONE individual.

PUMA more that ever!!

Comment by Jill | 2008-07-29 18:27:10

I agree, but the proof will be at the ballot box –unless Hillary is nominated. PUMA has become an anthem up here in the Northeast, a household word.

In my state, I have received at least three calls from Dems pleading for help with the Shaheen candidacy — and always, always mentioning that she strongly supports Obama… I sometimes just slam the phone down after making a PUMA howl, or scream “Oh my God, not Hussein Obama!!!” then I yell PUMA!!! It feels great!! Not a penny for the DNC or any Dem who supports Obama.

Believe me, the Obama effect will be felt all the way down the ticket! Plan now to take down the names of every Dem from your state you see at the Convention that jumps on the Obama wagon — then pledge to work as hard as you can to get them defeated in November. We can’t all go to Denver but we can rock our communities!

Send the DNC a message that hijacking our democratic process will bring massive consequences. We are not 5 % or 10% or even 20%. I believe PUMA and sympathizers are closer to 40% and will block the Obama coronation. yeahhhh!

In all my life, I never can remember the msm deliberately not covering a major story like this.

The events of the Primary Season have altered my viewing and reading habits with regard to electronic and print journalism for the rest of my life.

Every where I go, if the subject of the msm comes up I mention that I don’t watch or read the news and I give my reasons why along with examples of things that the msm did not report, like the free beer and concert in Germany and the one in Oregon in May. then I challenge people to verify it. After they do they are astonished and not happily so.

They don’t realize it, but they’ve started a revolution and they won’t be happy with the outcome.

And they can blame Hillary all they want, it won’t change the truth:

THEY ARE TO BLAME!

Naturally, it looks like Hillary and her supporters are once again the easy scapegoats for the actions of a few Stalinists in the Dem party.

Thank you Heather!

The Presidency is not a game. Nor a joke. That’s why the PUMA organization fights on. The future of our country is at stake. The most important office in the United States cannot be handed over to inexperienced, non-trustworthy and unstable “rock star” hands anymore.

The days of wanting a President “you can have a beer with” are over.

We need a President (and Congress) who is experienced & politically savvy enough (among other good qualities) to repair the EXTENSIVE damages to our economy, our basic Constitutional liberties, and our environmental and energy policies – just to name a few issues.

Clowns like the so-called DNC member who recently stated that he was “irritated” by the PUMA movement and angry Hillary supporters who actually give a damn about the future of America need to be thrown out of positions of leadership.

Quickly.

The Obamabots in the DNC have completely lost touch with reality by comparing the Presidential election process with a damned football/basketball/baseball game. And they have a LOT of damned nerve making that comparison – especially since they CHEATED to get their “chosen one” the Democratic nomination. Even children understand that winners don’t cheat.

The MSM is a disgrace. There are e-mails from the LA Times telling their paid bloggers not to mention the Edwards affair. The MSM is actually sitting on a major story about a possible VP candidate because …

If there were a security guard on tape telling how he spotted Mitt Romeny coming out of an LA hotel room – where his alleged mistress was staying and was photographed entering – at 2AM, THERE WOULD BE 24/7 COVERAGE!

I hope it’s not true. I like John Edwards. But, can we get an explanation, at least, somewhere, somehow? Because, sitting on a story sure makes it look true.

There is a lot of misinformation going around about PUMA. This is not good. PUMA needs to reach the average voters in the country. When the msm covers PUMA they make organization sound like a radical group made up of crazed Clinton supporters. People need to understand what PUMA is really fighting for. PLease people- when you read articles discussing PUMA- please blog your comments AND, if you can, include this link so that America understands that PUMA and the Denver Group and others are trying to protect our democratic process. Yes people are upset-DEEPLY UPSET- as to how Sen Clinton was treated and pushed aside in this campaign process but PUMA goes above and beyond Sen Clinton. PUMA is upset because our whole democratic campaign process was hijacked- BY OUR OWN DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!!

HRC is living proof. Make no mistake about it- if we allow this hijacking to go on again in American campaign politics- it will continue to go on in all future elections.

YES PUMAs want HRC name on the ballot because she is CLEARLY the best candidate however- PUMA complaint goes above and beyond just HRC- PUMA is fighting to protect our election process- from the cannibals in our own democratic party…

Please forward this link to others-especially include it on blogs that discuss PUMA…

“When the msm covers PUMA they make organization sound like a radical group made up of crazed Clinton supporters.”

You’re absolutely right – about everything you stated.

But I’ve finally accepted a while back that no matter how organized we are and no matter how effective we are at spreading the important PUMA message, we will probably always be dismissed by those bastards in the MSM and in the DNC as “crazy” and “bitter” Hillary supporters.

F— ‘em.

Let them think and say whatever they want to about us. They’re going to anyway.

PUMA will fight on in spite of them. We will brush Obama, the DNC, the MSM and insane Obamabots everywhere else off of our shoulders. We will effectively spread our message to as many as possible.

And we will defeat those crooks in November.

P.U.M.A.

We may not be able to affect what happens at the Convention, so I have to take issue with that construct. Sometimes the bad guys do win, no matter how hard you try or how righteous your cause.

This movement is about the core principles of the Democratic Party. If Hillary is not nominated, then we should keep our movement together and become the new, improved Moveon.org.

I’m far more interested in what we do to move forward to take back the party and restore the populist big tent than what goes down in Denver.

Denver is a done deal, in my mind.

I want to know what’s next.

Looking for leadership, here, and I think it’s there.

It’s just not quite come together.

Denver for many people here is the the main focus. The leader we want is Hillary Clinton.

I find the outrage that is expressed here is mostly because the Obama trolls and biased media. Other than that most articles are quite good.

Ann, just go already. Jesus, I’ve died a thousand deaths over the past few weeks with your whining; I feel like the hero in some Hindu epic. If you’re so concerned about how all of this looks and are still wrestling with whether you can support Obama or not, then you’re more of a hindrance than a help.

Tin foil hats off to Perry Logan who can get a little ridiculous but makes himself heard. The world needs more activists, more passionate people, and I don’t care how weird and non-PC they might be.

In fact, the Clintons are famous for surrounding themselves with colorful characters and nonconformists; it was the source of many of their policy breakthroughs and also unfortunately how Hillary’s campaign devolved into chaos with no immediate check.

But in that spirit, Let people do whatever they like here, as long as you can support their goals. You just seem like a rubbernecker, and your comments are not helpful.

Actually, workingclassdem, I have suspected for months, Anninca is not among the “one of us” you talked about. Not a troll exactly, but a mole. However, the real point is one you seem to have missed entirely, probably because you don’t really bother to read the blogs and just look for a place to insert your ideas. If you supported Hillary and now support Obama, that is your privilege granted by the constitution, but I would like to address your misconceptions. First, I will concede some Republicans post here as they do on every site where they are not banned. You should look at the history of PUMA more objectively, however. JustSayNoDeal is not one site, but over two hundred with some common threads. All supported Hillary and for all it is about much more. One issue is Obama himself. I am speaking only for myself, but I didn’t make up my mind until the second debate. Until then, I considered either Hillary or Obama nomination to be fine with me and told my family and friends this. Then I saw the waffling and inexperience, the media bias and SC, when his campaign playing the race baiting card, I was done with him. Second issue, the DNC. There was the silence on the media attacks on Hillary, her husband and her daughter. Months of Hillary supporters being branded racists and still nothing from the DNC. Comments by Brazil, Pelosi, Dean and others denigrating my years as a Democrat and being told my vote wasn’t needed. The stories of threats against SDs and the lies, lies , lies. In the last month, everything I had thought about Obama proven by his votes and statements and now, apparently, his choice for VP is a man who is against stem cell research and has a poor record on his support of women’s right to choose. I’m left with the choice of going along with the Democratic Party, not voting and not having a Party representing me or joining others to take the Party back. Sorry this is so long, but I have one last thing to say. Yesterday, I went to Huffpo for the first time in at least four months (when my comments were no longer posted) and I saw a strange thing there. This new party is apparently called the “Progressive” party now. I have no idea if Mr. Johnson is a Republican, nor do I care. This site is one of the few left where censorship is not imposed. No threats are allowed and very profane language is sometimes removed, but IDEAS? Never. I don’t agree with the Repug agenda and don’t particullary like John McCain, but the odd thing? I really trust him more than Obama and my vote in Nov. will be an attempt to win back the principles of the Democratic Party and if that means four years of McCain, I can live with that.

Comment by elise | 2008-07-29 22:26:50

Anninca, it seems pretty clear to me and I am not willing to concede Denver. If the DNC breaks the rules or makes up new rules, that has to be pointed out on the Convention floor using procedural rules and points of order. I am convinced at least some of Hillary’s supporters are familiar with previous conventions and know some disruption tactics. If that idea offends you, sorry. It’s a bonafide tradition of the Democratic Party to fight for principles and when did we become so timid and fearful? For example, if Hillary’s name is put into nomination and voted on, but the vote is scheduled for 5am or midnight, to avoid msn coverage, it needs to be clear to Democrats not able to go to convention, exactly what is happening. If they succeed in nominating Obama, the plan is to defeat him in Nov. I’m not worried about leaders. There are leaders and it is my understanding they are studying the Rules carefully and will be willing to follow through. Everything the DNC and Obama are doing right now is to present a united front and if they use brute force, it will be obvious. Those are the goals as I understand them. Demand the nominating process and role call vote. Clearly object to any attempt to circumvent the rules. Defeat Obama and the DNC. The ultimate goal is to take back the Party from those who don’t even call themselves Democrats anymore, but “PROGRESSIVES”. And change the nominating process of the Party to reflect the votes of the majority and not the elite Party activists.

The ACLU won part of their lawsuit on the convention.

Denver also disclosed that the police have no “mandatory arrest” policy — meaning there is no list of offenses that will require arrest rather than the issuance of a citation.

As to details of the extra training police are receiving for the Convention, DPD insists the focus is not on nabbing protesters but on moving crowds safely through the streets:

“The emphasis is not on arresting people but on gaining voluntary compliance with requests that enable everyone to safely exercise their First Amendment rights.”

Ah, you guys are already marginal. And Obama is running away with it. Or don’t you get polling data on Planet PUMA?

Comment by Seattle Moss | 2008-07-28 13:26:34

Obama is running himself into a ditch!

2004
62 million republican
59 million democrat

18 million for Hillary
Obama only garners 77% of the total democrat vote today
That equals 5 million Hillary(Puma) votes for McCain

I told you before sf
We decide all elections in modern times.
Your selection is a national security risk to the United States.

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-07-28 13:50:58

And I told you, you are delusional.

1. 2004 results can’t be counted on this year. Party identification has shifted dramatically to the Democrats from the GOP since 2004; or were you not politically aware in November 2006?

2. Of the 18 million votes cast for Hillary, the vast majority will vote for Obama. I don’t know where you got your 77% figure but it is now utter horseshit. Just go to any political site that offers up to date polling data — fivethirtyeight, Rasmussen, Politico, whatever you want — to see the current electoral map — what people, including PUMAs, are telling pollsters today. The news is, just as I predicted, Obama is pulling away after his international trip. McCain’s latest disastrous political move — the awful ad accusing Obama of betraying the troops — is backfiring, as could also have been predicted by anyone who keeps up with politics — i.e., I haven’t noticed typical GOP attack ads on Democrats’ patriotism having much impact during the recent special elections.

But hey, you keep on fantasizing. Come November, when the entire planet explodes in a paroxym of elation at renewed hope for American vigor, change and democratic growth, you PUMAs can sit here in your little hole in the ground and pretend this election was stolen too, and talk about your third party. LOL.

Comment by Seattle Moss | 2008-07-28 13:57:56

Sf..

Why did Obama sit on his hands and wish for defeat in Iraq?

Why did obama not get up and clap the success of the surge like other patriotic Americans??

Why does obama court the Europeans who wish for retreat and defeat of America in the world?

Why did obama talk down about America in Berlin?

oh…Why didn’t Obama see the troops??

We know the reasons don’t we Sf

You and Obama both hate America and wish for defeat and retreat for America in the world

Comment by Seattle Moss | 2008-07-28 14:03:32

sf,
it took all of one click over to RCP to see the latest polls that you value so much

USA Today….McCain up by 4% over Obama.

Now that’s what I call a hell of a bounce out of Obama’s Misadventure.

Maybe people want a real leader that values country before self

McCain!!

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-07-28 14:09:36

For those who care, RealClearPolitics’ daily tracking average has Obama up over McCain by a bit over 3 points:

http://realclearpolitics.com/

He has also a higher favorability average in their “poll of all polls,” and has over 300 electoral votes in their overall electoral vote tracker. Gallup has Obama by 9, and Research 2000’s latest poll — a bit of an outlier — has Obama by 12.

But hey, if you can find one poll that gives McCain a lead, you focus on that one and feel good about yourself!

Comment by Seattle Moss | 2008-07-28 14:18:14

You are so desperate!

The bottom line is that obama is a national security risk!

I tried to warn you Obots that this election would hinge on national security.

you didn’t listen to sound judgment and instead forced your anti-American candidate on us.

You can never win an election based on defeat and punishment of the United States.
What you are seeing now sf is the rise of American Nationalism

We are done with America haters!!!

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-07-28 14:25:03

By “the rise of American nationalism” you mean Obama’s lead in the polls, which increases every day? I’m not sure I follow.

Once again: the fact that you Republicans wish to tar Barack Obama with the “American defeatism” brush doesn’t mean anyone will listen. In fact, the race was pretty much tied after the Fourth of July; since then, the subject has been focused on Iraq and foreign policy, and Obama has cleaned McCain’s clock. So, basically, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Comment by Seattle Moss | 2008-07-28 14:33:42

Why did Obama not get up and clap the success of the surge at the state of the union??

Why??

Where I come from that’s called wishing for defeat of your country

Nationalism is about pride and defense of ones country.
I see no evidence from Obama or his followers that they have any patriotism or pride in America

What your expectations are for Obama if he becomes president and has he done anything in the last fifteen months you have questioned or with which you have disagreed. When was the first time you voted for president and do you remember where and when you first heard Obama’s name and at what point you became a believer?

Still looking at RCP…for those who care, the RealClear averages also now give Obama slim leads in Colorado, Michigan, Ohio and Virginia, and (amazingly) has them tied in Florida. McCain does have a 2 point lead in Missouri, where he has spent a huge amount of TV money recently; expect him to fall behind there as well once Obama puts some money into that state.

Comment by Motorcityliberal | 2008-07-28 16:01:04

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-07-28 17:14:26

All right, MotorcityLiberal, I’ll still be here in October and I’ll try to remember your name. But FYI — I brought up the latest polls because as usual, you idiots were wallowing in the delusion that PUMA influence was growing and Obama was struggling. In fact, your influence is negligible and Obama is pulling into a comfortable lead. I know reality has little basis in your thinking, but still…

And by the way: if you like Obama’s lead today, wait a couple weeks till he’s having his convention and McCain is firing his latest campaign manager, Steve Schmidt, the genius who thought the McCain brand called for vicious negative advertising in the middle of the summer. LOL. So sad. Such flailing. Such a formerly heroic, respected American figure now reduced to a punch line by his own shitty campaign. Oh well. Better luck in 2012, Republicans. Even Republicans are deeply dismayed at what an embarrassing campaign McCain is running, and terrified at how many seats they’ll lose this fall. i should answer this. Republicans “love America?” As proved how? By bankrupting the country? Botching the Iraq War disastrously? Ignoring our immense energy problems? Ignoring Al Qaeda in Afghanistan/Pakistan? Letting hundreds of American citizens die in New Orleans due to governmental indifference? Shredding the Constitution in the name of “security?” Staining the honor of the Justice Department through one politicization scandal after another?

Scumbags. Don’t defile phrases like “love America” by relating them to the band of unrepentant criminals known as today’s Republican Party. The public is wise to you. That’s why your candidates get hammered in one election after another, and McCain will be no exception.

The Republican party is being Reborn!

They are learning from their mistakes

If I thought that Obama had enough experience and that the democrat party had values I would surely vote for them like I have for the past 24 years.

Regrettably the democrat party doesn’t represent my values as shown in this nomination process.
I wouldn’t count on a big democrat victory this year.
Congress is polling at 9% approval and Obama can’t get over 50%.

We are in a recession and I believe that raising taxes is detrimental to our economy at this time.
National Security is the issue.

His repeated attempts to compare his situation to Hillary’s are laughable. He didn’t even win one primary or caucus, did he? I really find myself in an odd spot, since I don’t agree with PUMA that the goal is to disrupt the convention. I do agree that the Democratic Party should be swatted down. My own position is simple. I see a good balance between a Democratic congress and a Republican president for 4 years, giving the Democratic Party opportunity to prove itself and regroup.

This bunch right now is a rag-tag team of losers, in my opinion. Edwards is trotted out as the great Dem leader. Today he’s hiding in bathroom stalls from Fox News. Richardson is the next big name. Oh lordy, what an embarassment. Gore is the revered one, and he’s practially running away from this bunch of idiots. One rally. That’s all he’ll commit.

Pelosi is out there using her position to campaign for her seat. Good. I wanted her to have to work for it. She’s so small potatoes she writes a book and ignores Hillary when discussing women in government. What a loser.

I am not interested in birth stories of Obama and think that’s true tin-foil hat stuff. I’m not interested in PUMA protests that turn out to be 12 people interrupting a speech. I’m not interested in petitions to reinstate Hillary as the candidate.

That sort of leaves me in my usual position……moderate Democrat. LOL*

But I’ll keep checking in.

By the way, a funny story for you guys. HuffPo ran a big headline about how Obama had doubled his lead according to CNN. Went from 3 points to 6. There were so many negative replies to how silly that was that they pulled the poll story entirely.

Just to let you know I’m not turning my back on you guys.

I’m just not interested in far-fetched theories, conspiracy stories, or plans.

A story about Hillary’s recent financial reports would be welcome. How did we do? Did we knock her debt down?

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-28 11:53:59

Then how do you think we affect change? The 12 people at that rally were out of a gathering of 150, that’s almost 10% of the crowd. There probably won’t be one BIG story or event that will bring down Obama, its the drip by drip chinking of the armor …..I too am a “moderate democrat” trying to wrestle away MY party from the coup that has taken it over. I am proud to be a part of this PUMA movement because we are making a difference.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-28 12:00:22

I don’t know. I am focusing on down-ticket positions.

I am evolving just as many of us are. I know I’m avoiding the racists crud and the tin-foil hat stuff.

I am looking for some real leadership. It’s a bit hard to find right now.

But I sense it will emerge out of the rubble.

I know this. No way I will go to Denver. They are going to coop up all protestors far, far away from the delegates. You’ll be in a cage with a bunch of very strange people. Not me.

Well, I am not in the group dominating this blog right now.

I do not go along with the stories about his birth certificate.

Never have.

I trust I’m tolerated, anyway.

But I really do veer off, personally, at those stories.

I take offense at being told by PUMA sites that Hillary’s debt had to be paid off or else.

That was never confirmed.

Apparently, that was not true.

PUMA representatives who publish falsehoods should be held accountable.

The ends do NOT justify the means.

If that’s the case, then there is no real complaint to be lodged against the Obama powers.

I expect more.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”

True.

Throughout history, revolutions and social change began with SMALL groups of people – being ridiculed and shunned by the masses and people in power.

It’s not the size of the dog. It’s the size of the FIGHT in the dog that matters.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton lent her campaign an additional $1 million at the end of June, underscoring the difficulty she is having staying ahead of creditors and retiring a mountain of campaign debt, filings with the Federal Election Commission show.

Small Donations Make Big Bucks for Obama
$30 of $50 Million in June comes from sums of $200 or less
Associated Press
Last updated: Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008 12:14:24 AM

Small donors have translated into big money for Barack Obama.

Of the 52 million dollars the Democrat raised in June, more than 30 million dollars came in individual sums of $200 or less. The Campaign Finance Institute says it\’s the highest amount raised in nuggets of $200 or less in the history of presidential fundraising.

Only a third of the 21.5 million Republican John McCain raised in June came from such small donors. Unlike Obama, McCain plans to accept 84 million in public funds for the fall campaign.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is facing mountains of debt for her failed attempt at the White House. The New York senator raised 2.7 million dollars from donors in June, but her personal loans to the campaign stands at 13.2 million. She reports owing vendors 12 million.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-28 13:27:54

Oh, yeah. And that roughly 30 million all came in one day, too. From overseas. Isn’t that great?

Hillary actually owns that 13 million. She insisted on assuming that portion of her debt herself, and this includes the Mark Penn debt which he may waive but is in no hurry to collect on. Hillary has placed the small business owners first and made sure they are taken care of. $13 million in a large national campaign that lasted so long is not unheard of or even that much. Half of that is Mark Penn’s and for postage. Hillary is in the black now.

Congratulations to PUMA supporters and other Clinton loyalists who worked so diligently to help raise funds. Here is the report from Open Secrets that shows just how much was accomplished.

Yesbama, Obama outspent Hillary 3-1 in all of the final states except Puerto Rico. She won 9 out of 13 primaries, most by more than fifteen points. Since when is the Democratic nomination for sale? Well, never mind. I guess he did pay for the SDs. Romney had much more money than McCain, but McCain got the votes. There is something just more than slightly obsene about it all being about money and how much he has along with claims it came from small donors. Look at the chart on opensecrets.org and you will find Obama’s campaign not quite as forthcoming with their information.

Meaning the Democratic Party. Not us.

I don’t know. I am focusing on down-ticket positions.

I have no real answer, other than I think the party leaders need to be brought down.

So she wants to down ticket those that supported this fiasco. I don’t see what she said that is wrong? For voicing her opinion? I know I’ve been called worse than strange. ;) Besides strange sort of fits with my state. The land of fruits and nuts. I’m a bitter gun toting redneck, bible thumping racist and bigot. Comment by AnninCa | 2008-07-28 13:07:41

I had to think before I reacted.

Yes, I’m divisive.

I’ll own that.

I really would like to see PUMA not devolve into some kind of tin-foil hat group.

I think the issues are genuine, real, and require some real political effort.

2000 complaints in Texas and not one was validated by the Dems?

That’s absurd.

If that’s the case, why bother? Let every Dem candidate who is bold enough bus in thugs and take over caucuses.

People do need to speak out, loudly. About his birth certificate? Not in my opinion.

But anyone who imagined that we’d all be on the same page was kooky, in my opinion.

I’m not into that crud, or into bizarre tales of his antics in limos.

I am far more interested in how he fell into the trap of not visiting troops because his press corp, paid for by his campaign, couldn’t get pics.

I’m REALLY interested in hearing Larry’s take on Petraeus’s comments. Here we have a presumed nominee, making deals with Iraq that go against current military efforts.

To me?

That’s big story stuff.

Whatever. I’m really not a PUMA, I guess. Idon’t think it’s reasonable.

I am a Democrat against Obama.

Maybe we need our own animal logo.

But I love you guys.

Man, that’s shocking.

As for the anger, let me reassure you all.

I contributed financially to this site. I am guessing more than others, but I’m not bragging.

I gave the Max to Hillary. I can’t give more.

I am contributing to Democats who were not pro-Obama. Small amounts. But it adds up.

I may be way too chicken to go to Denver. It sound like a fiasco.

But I’m doing my part, and I’ll continue to do so.

I do insist on being honest here. I’m not on the tin-foil hat bandwagon.

But I am firm about my own principles and beliefs, and I’m putting my money where my mouth is.

So I’m OK with criticism.

I’ll listen, and I’ll take what I like and leave the rest.

I would love a site that is moderate. I can’t find one.

That site will get my donation, again.

Right now, the anti-Obama sites are way into the ozone…….

I think we all agree that we will not vote for Obama – in my opinion, that is the most important action we can take as a group.

I think it’s a good thing that the Denver group is trying to make sure Hillary’s name will be on the ballot and that there will be a roll call.

I would like to see more investigations into Obama’s dealings with Ayers and Rezko. News on the relationship with Rezko seemed to have died. Obama is not vetted and no one in the MSM (what happened to Hannity?) or in the RNC seems to have come up with something that will stick.

And BY THE WAY TROLL, nice fucking try, but PUMA’s GOAL is to get Hillary’s name put in nomination and VOTED ON.

If that’s what you call “disrupting the convention” good luck maintaining the lie that you are a Dem.

Obama is drafting an 80,000 footsoldier army to intimidate the delegates in Denver and then go door to door for him.

Why aren’t you more concerned with THAT?

That’s nonsense.

Unless you think agreeing with you is required.

I think the eligibility issue is stuff and nonsense.

I’m entitled to not join you.

But I could afford to go to Denver, and I’m not going.

The reason?

Obama has blocked off real voices.

He’s challenged by the ACLU for his plan.

I’m appalled!

I’ll fight this in a way that makes sense for myself.

I’m going to bat against Pelosi.

I’m in her state. Every dime I give to a viable candidate against her makes her have to work for re-election.

I’m just going to follow my instincts here.

I’ve been a straight-Democrat ticket voter for 35 years here.

I refuse to let you insult me. Or let Obama supporters insult me.

I’m a solid Democrat, and I’m not a big player, but I have every right to register in my own way my own opinions.

This election is off-center.

It’s crazy-making. I will work for recentering.

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-28 13:56:35

I am not insulting you. Look though my posts. I am asking you not to use phrases like “tin foil hat” etc. I understand what you are doing. You are trying to distance yourself from what you perceive are the “crazies”. No one is forcing you to go to Denver. I think many share your views. My mother and her friends would never think of posting on blogs or protesting in the streets. However, they have vowed to vote for McCain will vote only for candidates that supported Hillary. Not everyone is an activist.

I enjoy most of the articles and this site certainly helps me vent. Some of it is a little over the top, and I can understand why it turns some people off. But I think it is also nicely balanced with well researched artcles that the major media outlets would not dare to publish.

I don’t begrudge you for your opinion. I actually enjoy reading the different points of view that everyone has. There is more than one way of reaching a goal. We should all be accepting of divergent views lest we devolve into the plutocracy of Obama, and we become our enemy.

Comment by Newly Independent | 2008-07-28 21:06:14

“However, they have vowed to vote for McCain will vote only for candidates that supported Hillary. Not everyone is an activist.”

That’s wonderful!

That IS an act of activism – voting against Obama.

Activism is not solely defined by marching in the streets. Marching is one FORM of activism. Mailing letters is another. Blogging, emailing, handing out flyers, making calls – ALL are forms of activism!

No one should get caught up with how much any ONE person is doing in the PUMA and JustSayNoDeal movements. Just as long as each person is doing SOMETHING to further the cause.

He has already started implimenting change by moving the DNc HQ to Chicago and when he wins in November, the White House will be in Chicago too, in a mansion bought thanks to Rezko. That is Obama’s forward thinking in action, appreciate it and marvel at it!

With all Obama’s plans, Democrats will be in power for years, do not forget Obama said in2016 he will be able to walk out of his front door and go to events at the 2016 Olympics, so he knows he will be POTUS for many years.

So ignore the fact that he is a pathological liar, a do nothing politician and an oportunist, he is a like-able guy with a proud wife.

andy martin on the surge:

Anti-Obama movement leader Martin says disaffected Democrats are “surging” against Obama in the media and online.

(NEW YORK)(July 28, 2008) The “surge” that Senator Barack Obama focuses on is the increased troop presence in Iraq that Senator John McCain uses to embarrass his opponent. Obama opposed the “surge” in Baghdad, said the plan would fail and steadfastly refuses to admit that the policy of increasing troop strength to aid in peace efforts has succeeded.

In point of fact, the U. S. Army always maintained that without adequate troops, the Army would not be able to restore order in Iraq. The 2003 invasion was a flawed policy triggered with inadequate military strength that metastasized into the desperate conditions that existed in 2006. I was and continue to be a very vocal opponent of the invasion. I also recognize that having “broken” Iraq, we can’t just pull out. And so we are stuck trying to work with the Iraqi government to withdraw on a rational “schedule.” Even the word schedule is now becoming contested and controversial.

Nevertheless, this column is not about the “surge” in the Middle East. That surge does not threaten the Obama candidacy as much as the growing “surge” within the Democratic Party.

My observation of presidential campaigns goes all the way back to 1952, when president Harry Truman drove through my hometown of Middletown, Connecticut. Every campaign since then has featured a “committee” of supporters for each presidential candidate that originates in the opposing party. There were “Democrats for Nixon” and “Republicans for Gore,” and so forth. With varying degrees of efficacy and energy these “opposition” groups are organized to create the impression of national campaigns drawing endorsements from the full spectrum of political activists.

2008 has been different. The “opposition” first manifested itself in the Republican Party, where so-called “conservatives” and “evangelicals” announced their lack of support after McCain won the Republican Party primaries. While “conservatives” were attacking McCain, Democrats tut-tutted that their candidates, Senator Hillary Clinton and Obama, were indistinguishable on the issues and would easily coalesce and unite after the primaries.

The Democrats’ belief was that after either Clinton or Obama clinched the nomination, organized opposition within the party would cease.

That has not proven to be the case. Democrats are opposing Obama with increasing energy and increasing organization. Truly, the “surge” inside the Democratic Party endangers the Obama campaign much more than the surge in Baghdad.

First, Obama is an “image” candidate. He is obsessed with his image; his success is based on image and imagination. The existence of vocal resistance to his candidacy within the Democratic Party jeopardizes the illusion of unanimity and party unity, and shatters his image.

Second, if the opposition to Obama reaches the match point and ignites, Obama could be embarrassed in Denver. After Clinton suspended her campaign, Obama thought he had a green light to run roughshod over her supporters. That has proven to be a mistaken view. Clinton supporters want to be heard in Denver. I was surprised a couple of weeks ago to see an advertisement in the Chicago Tribune demanding that Clinton’s name be placed in nomination. http://thedenvergroup.blogspot.com/

My guess is that a very strenuous effort is going to be made to place Clinton’s name in nomination in Denver, forcing Obama into a roll-call vote.

The Obama campaign has sought to steamroller Clinton supporters into dropping their announced support for Clinton as the price their meaningful participation in Denver. This hauteur appears to have backfired. Many Clinton supporters, who feel she did not receive fair treatment during the primaries, are refusing to be absorbed by the Obama organization. This is not to say that most Clinton supporters did not join Obama, or won’t support him. It is too soon to say. But the anti-Obama resistance is not dissolving and disappearing as his camp had predicted.

Our national political parties are delicate and to some extent artificial constructs. In the modern era they have not been designed to conduct business when there is internal opposition. Prior to 1960, conventions were spirited and untidy affairs. Today they are scripted events. The script is being shredded in Obama’s case.

Third, although e-mail and the Internet were significant as early as 2000, this is the first presidential election where the “aggregation” power of the Internet is being used to collect Clinton supporters so they can be aggregated as an continuing opposition to Obama. I don’t know how strong these groups are or how well organized they will prove to be. I have made no effort to measure them. See, for example:

http://www.puma08.com/,http://justsaynodeal.com/index2.html,http://www.clintons4mccain.com/

There may be other similar organizations (please contact me if you exist).

But any opposition to Obama’s image could prove fatal, since image is the foundation of his campaign.

How does Obama react? I am not sure there is an easy answer. His initial Chicago-style response of threatening to crush the opposition may have backfired. The pro-Clinton Obama opposition is not under the thumb of the Democratic Party. Just as Obama energized new voters, Clinton did the same. The anti-Obama movement is independent of the Democratic Party’s traditional command and control.

There is clearly a cleavage between Democrats who want to take the party more to the left, supporting Obama, and those who want the Democratic Party to be more centrist, supporting Clinton.

Clinton was criticized in 2007 for running a “centrist” presidential campaign. She was accused of acting as though she were already the nominee and maneuvering her stands on issues towards “the center.” (Horrors.) The Obama surge in 2007 forced Clinton to tack to the left. Democrats as a group, however, are not any more monolithic than the Republicans. There are shades of opinion on most questions.

Many Democrats, for example, understand the surge in Iraq, and are sensitive to the potential consequences of a precipitous withdrawal from that country. However ill advised the 2003 invasion may have been, many Democrats supported the invasion. They understand we have to leave only when conditions permit sustained peace.

Likewise the “young” voters that Obama touts as his base may recognize that he plans to loot their pension savings to support their elders.

Clinton supporters will no doubt continue their guerilla war over the next few weeks and into the fall. Originally I was planning to attend the Denver convention. Then I thought it would be a bore. But as the Clintonistas continue to surge, and as Obama’s defenses prove porous, I am back to believing I should be in Denver.

As for McCain, are the evangelicals and “conservatives” similarly surging against their candidate? I see no evidence of that fact. The tables unexpectedly turned on the Democrats; they thought Republicans would have the greater internal problems. Today it is Democrats who face greater internecine upheaval and opposition.

FULL Disclosure: My new book, Obama: The Man Behind The Mask, comes out this week. The publisher will start shipping today. I am already working on a new book for the next phase of the presidential campaign. And, yes, I have made a choice.

Someone asked me recently if I would work “under the radar” against Senator Obama. I stated, as the Washington Post has written about me, that I do not work “under the table.” I work out in the open.

The “hard left” fantasizes that I run a powerful secret organization. That’s flattering. I tease the leftists by suggesting I have a clandestine bunker deep underneath Midtown Manhattan. Nevertheless, I have decided to oppose Obama’s election and have become Executive Director of The Stop Obama Coalition, http://StopObamaCoalition.com. By default, I have become the national leader of the anti-Obama movement. We are going to run a very dynamic and aggressive campaign against Obama. I will continue to write my column for ContrarianCommentary.com. Book orders: http://Orangestatepress.com.

I do not see why the Democratic party establishment
has a problem with us. They threw us out of the
party. They said that they did not need us anymore.
So we left. Why do Donna Brazille, Howard Dean and company have a problem with us not supporting Mr. Obama now? I do not see any reason for them to be worried
that we are NOT supporting Mr. Obama, since the party
did not want us anyways.

They really weren’t few in number if you consider that the entire rally only had 150 people. If anything the measly 150 who bothered to show up to see Coward Dean is more telling.

Comment by tek | 2008-07-28 12:32:13

I went to the Raw Story site, I used to visit there everyday. I didn’t see anything in favor of Hillary or PUMA. It seemed like a total cheerleading site for Obama.

OT, did anyone read the article on John McCain supporting the ban on Affirmative Action in AZ? This is happening, of course, because so many Hispanics have come into AZ illegally and their strategy is to use the U. S. civil rights laws, Affirmative Action, and the welfare state to get a foothold and take over. AZ can’t cope with the scope of the problem and they’ve gotten no help from the federal government even though the Democratic governor has pleaded with Bush to send them assistance.

McCain said in a speech before a Hispanic business group that he would not support Affirmative Action based on race, ethnicity, or country of origin for opportunities. He made a statement that Obama actually made during the primaries when he was showing his true self. He said that all Americans should get opportunity and quality education and no ethnic group should be favored.

If you think about it, this show some true leadership that we haven’t seen in this country since Bill Clinon. He told these people a hard truth they didn’t want to hear knowing that they probably won’t vote for him.

I’m starting to like some things about John McCain. There’s nothing I like about Barack Obama. Now Obama is slamming McCain for saying the same thing he said a few months ago and Obama has totally changed his stance.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-28 13:02:53

This is great news, because McCain has been performing less than spectacularly with the Hispanic community. This is because his daring legislation went nowhere. It became an opportunity for his party to demonize immigrants in this country, instead.

McCain seems like a reasonable person. His recent trips to Latin America, and Obama’s reluctance to broach immigration reform or any other subject, gives McCain an opportunity to connect with this significant portion of the voting population.

Obama is using his community organizing (ahem) experience to try and redraw the map. I was reading about how he plans on using absentee ballots in VA, which can now make up 1/3 of voters, between active duty military, students and jailed prisoners who are awaiting trial. Same thing for FL.

Latinos are putting new swing states into play, and no one can estimate just how much influence they can wield. The community seems very active and eager to play a role in our politics, though. If McCain shows some real spine and demonstrates a willingness to reach out to Latinos – and I think he will – this could make for a more vibrant and progressive GOP.

Found this article at PUMApac blog…PUMA Power in Europe baby!

“In Berlin, supporters of one of these organizations, PUMA (Party Unity My A**), were distributing leaflets calling for such an open party convention. Obama’s security team confiscated the leaflets, not only from the PUMA organizers themselves, but also from any spectator who passed through the security gate, leaflet in hand. So much for Obama’s oft-cited “change.”

I wish someone would address that fact that many of us PUMA’s were not Hillary supporters ..I was an Edwards supporter..and volunteer…

Many of us PUMA’s are disenfranchised Florida and Michigan voters who saw our votes robbed by Obama and the Democratic hierarchy, and some of us even saw the theft in Caucus’s across the nation.

I have worked very hard since 2000 to have our votes in Florida count and be counted. Votes from many who sacrificed all for that vote, as my state has one of the highest populations of Vets in the nation…people who fought for that vote…

To only see the theft of our votes go from Republicans to now the democratic party. I guess the Democratic party realized that people would not take to the streets in massive numbers.. over votes being stolen… so they could easily steal our votes this time as well!

I will vote for the first time in my 56 YEARS FOR A REPUBLICAN..I WILL VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN.. ..a true American Hero, who sacrificed for this nation when many others did not. ( for many reasons , some their own and others not)

I do remember in 2004 that John Kerry begged John McCain to be his VP…I remember it well as I was an Elected Kerry Delegate from the State of Florida.

Seems to me that the democratic party didn’t dislike McCain then..in fact they thought so highly of him then to make him a Vice President for our party.

I do not believe military service is required to be president..but experience does matter and I will gladly vote for McCain with his lifetime of experience over OBLOWME’s total lack of any experience, or good judgement of the crooks he has surrounded himself with, for a very very long time.

My co-workers on 9/11 died at the hands and reign of one ignut with no experience..and no National Security experience..the fear I had over Bush then and how he was forced upon this nation and the fear I have of Obama for many of the same reasons, will not allow me to vote for him. Under any circumstances.

This is the man I will vote for ..because I will sleep better at night knowing he is sitting in “MY” White House. A man with integrity and experience, and who cared enough to serve this nation ..and cares more about the soldiers who wear our uniform that a damn basketball game or a workout.

This is John McCain:
( for those young people who know nothing of the man and who cheer on an ignut who never sacrificed a damn thing for this country!)

Jon McCain:
“In 1968 he was offered early release, and when he refused, because others had been there longer, his captors went at him again; he suffered cracked ribs, teeth broken off at the gum line, and torture with ropes that lashed his arms behind his back and that were progressively tightened all through the night.” Source Vanity Fair, February 2007

“He spent two years in solitary confinement, suffered from dysentery and even tried to commit suicide by hanging himself with his own shirt.

In 1968, the Vietnamese broke off many of his teeth at the gum and tortured him for hours on end. They offered him early release, knowing his value as an admirals son, but he refused, saying others had been held captive longer.” Source Daily Mail, February 1, 2008

But if Hillary is not the nominee after the convention..John McCain gets my vote..hands down.

Seriously you guys, lay off AnninCa. She’s no troll or whatever else you called her. Don’t turn into Obamamabots!

Many of us come at this from a wide variety of views, positions, and political bents, and oppose Obama for a laundry list of reasons. My number one is and always has been the RBC-condoned fixing of the MI/FL debacle. That was the last straw for me but even if I had been able to overlook it, Obama’s frighteningly neoconnish advisers and positions would have sealed it. I don’t care about his birth certificate, supposed Muslimism, whatever…Those aren’t issues to me. Doesn’t mean I am not on board with opposing him any way I can.

Wouldn’t you know, today’s Rasmussen poll shows McCain within 10 points of Obama in CA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lordy,lordy…….that’s the breaking point.

I may have to work for McCain.

I can’t tell you how that makes bile come up in my throat.

But the altenative is worse.

If there is even a shot at turning CA red, I’ll work for it.

I hate that poll. LOL*

I do think Obama needs to be defeated, soundly. The only thing I’m concerned about is that it will be dismissed as racism.

Comment by Pink Panther | 2008-07-28 14:37:02

I live in California. The same sex union initiative is on the ballot in November. This may bring out the social and religious conservatives who will vote for McCain.

This could make it more difficult for Obama to carry California.

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-28 16:30:02

Well I hope you’re right. The gay marriage ban vote may invigorate the republican base, but we’re not a swing state. It would take a lot to make California go red IMO. It would be nice for Barry to have to work harder I guess, but that means we’ll be subjected even more Obama ads.

Comment by Pink Panthers | 2008-07-28 21:30:15

Last year, Obama refused to have his picture taken with San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom because of the Mayor’s support of gay rights.

It will be interesting to see how Obama falls on the issue of same sex unions-especially if supporting the same sex union initiative could swing the election.

I can understand, Ann. I’ve been waiting decades for VA to finally go Blue in a Presidential election, only to see that it may happen with a candidate in the (D) column who calls himself “postpartisan” and holds Republican positions. But then the FISA vote showed us there are only 20 “real” Democrats in the Senate (HRC being one.) I don’t expect much better from the 111th Congress regardless of whether it’s McCain or Obama in the Oval Office. So I do understand those who hope for a miracle in Denver.

Once the GE starts, PUMAS should launch a campaign to unseat Pelosi!

It should be a coordinated part of PUMA’s ongoing national campaign against the shenanigans of the DNC, etc. and not just left up to California PUMAs–although we will sure do our part.

Many in the Bay area are very unhappy with her do-nothing stance on impeachment, on voting to fund the war, and on FISA.

Also, this is a hunch, but I think SF Mayor Gavin Newson–a HRC supporter–is unhappy with Pelosi too for the above reasons and for supporting BO (who BTW recently snubbed Newsom at an event).

It would be interesting to find out how much money Obama will be spending, or has already spent, advertising on the MSM channels.

Additionally, it would also be interesting to find out if any of the MSM reporters, staff, etc. have been hired as paid consultants by the Obama campaign or associates, or been promised jobs in an Obama Administration.

This would explain why the MSM corporations have become Obama’s lapdogs and their reporters his press secretaries.

Comment by Andrew | 2008-07-28 14:10:12

Obama now says that people making 100,000 to 250,000 are middle class. That is an insult of the highest kind. That isn’t middle class, that is lower upper class. Middle class is usually 50,000 to 100,000. Obama is so disgusting. Does that mean if you make less than 100,000 you’re poor? Maybe if you buy 600 dollar earrings with a stimulus check. Obama can kiss my ass.

If you make a donation in any amount before midnight this Thursday, July 31st, you could join Barack backstage before he accepts the Democratic nomination.

Watch this short video invitation from Barack and make a donation of $5 or more today”

This is an open convention? where it’s just another grandstanding event?

We are of course a mixture of many many things here at NQ, we are all voters. I like all the different facets and stories, everyone is bringing something to the table, and everyone is supporting what efforts they can to do what they can to either ensure a roll call, vote for Senator McCain, vote against Obama or pray hillary will end up winning the convention nomination. We have a common thread of country before party, some of us are PUMA, some not but are mostly supportive of PUMA, and the Denver group.
It’s home here, I am glad I found it a month or so ago, I need a place where there is a forum of many with just as many ideas and stories. Support what you can honestly, that always works for the best, and understand contribution is a way of helping. It is ok not to be interested in each and every topic, but remember all are working for the same goals I would say to be fairness in voting, country before party and stopping Obama. Most important, vote. That’s just my take.

Notice the BO minions have about three points they repeat and repeat
The polls: about 77% of the 18 mil going for their leader
That we on the anti-Obama sites are ‘racist’
And BO is going to be the next president.
Now it doesn’t matter to them that even with the msm censoring everything negative about der Fuhrer he still almost breaks even with McCain and this is before the convention and if he takes the nomination before all of the real fireworks from the Republican party. I mean with all the propaganda why isn’t he ahead by 20 points? Why, because people see right through him because there’s absolutely nothing to see. Thank God for these sites.

The Obamabots are claiming The One isn’t getting a bounce because of, you guessed it, racism.

I think this is their new slogan:

IT’S THE BLACKNESS, STUPID!

To which, I reply:

IT’S THE CANDIDATE, STUPID!

Didn’t they say this about Sen Clinton’s primary momentum (and his losses) from March on through June?

“Not all anti-Obamam sites are racist. This one is.”

First, you’re ignorant about what racism IS. In fact, Obama threw the race card on the table, and so did his wife. I’m not going to dredge up all the links that prove it, because Obamatans tend not to demur to the truth.

Obama is a divider, and he is supported by a LOT of big corporate players, because he talks the soothing talk that Americans need after four years of Bush.

Obama is a GREAT orator, but it’s all rhetoric, and no action.

Where Obama will fail is his inability to resonate with middle America; he can’t fake that. The press can help him, but it won’t be enough.

McCain will be the next President. I’m not happy about that, but the Democrats have nobody to blame but themselves.

btw, McCain is NOT George Bush. He will not screw this country up the way Obama would. Imagine the letdown if Obama wins; all his promises turning to dust. Just what America DOESN’T need.

Obama is a shark.

Puma’s really do rock. I like many others oppose Obama for serveral reasons. First is, i don’t really believe that he won the nomination fairly, that is without the assistance he recieve from illegally held caucauses, and the overwhelming support from the DNC. I was and am still very disappointed with my Party. I will do what it takes to see that Obama is not our next President.

I watched a women representing PUMA on Hardball last evening, and a man representing Just Say No Deal. Unfortunately, they were both very poor representatives for whatever it is that might be positive that these organizations are attempting to accomplish. Both displayed obvious political and racial prejudice. If they can’t have it their way, they grab their marbles and run home.

The guy embarrassed Just Say No Deal in the way he had his facts badly wrong or plainly distorted them. For instance, in one comment about the 2000 Florida election fraud, he implicated Howard Dean. Dean had nothing to do with that election except for his own possible, private voting.

He went on to blame Howard Dean for what he claimed was the manipulation of the 2004 primary voting. The only thing Dean had to do with that election was managing and running in his own campaign. Such nonsense left one wondering if this guy was just illiterate or lying.

He, of course, considered Dean and the DNC the faultiest parts of this national election. I will remind this fellow that it was Howard Dean and state and county chairs of the Democratic Party who assured that the grassroots members of the party were given attention, fully participated, and finally, democratically, were able to take over the management of their party since the debacles of the past two presidential elections.

It was Howard Dean who recognized the need to give serious attention to those states the DNC simple wrote off under previous chairs as unavoidable losses. And anyone who has studied the results of the primaries during this year can see the positive results of that attention promoted by the grassroots of the Democratic Party and its chair, Howard Dean.

It was Howard Dean who led the DNC to take a stand against the Democratic Leadership Council, the DLC, made up of Democratic Washington insiders who have truly been responsible for such faulty election activity for about twenty years–and that includes both Bill Clinton terms. These people have moved so far to and across the center that they are virtual Republicans. That is not bipartisanship. That is not honorable compromise. That is the troublesome capitulation that so many of you PUMA and Just Say No Deal people complain about. Howard Dean took a strong stand against them.

And your people who just say they won’t vote for Barack Obama but can’t give a single substantial reason for their announced intention clearly show to others their racial prejudice–prejudice that they are unable to recognize themselves. And that’s the saddest, most dangerous part of all.

This is sad. This is illiterate. This is prejudiced. This is fragmenting. This is disrespectful of genuine free democracy. And this is certainly out of line with true Democratic Party philosophy.
