Tune in now to Caucus Irregularities on NoQuarterRadio [Updated] (Open Thread)

UPDATE: Special thanks to Heidi Li Feldman for promoting our show tonight in her article at The Denver Group, “The Texas ‘two-step’: a continuing mechanism for privileging elites over rank and file Democrats.”
…………………….

The show is on live right now, from 10pm to 11pm ET. Our guest tonight is Dr. Lynette Long, who is an expert in how the caucus system undemocratically skewed delegate selections across the nation to Barack Obama’s advantage. We’re taking live calls, so dial in with your questions and your own caucus stories: the call-in number is (347) 677-0792.

More about tonight’s special guest: Dr. Lynette Long is a licensed psychologist practicing in Bethesda, Maryland. She is the author of twenty books and dozens of articles in both professional journals and magazines. Dr. Long has appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs and was the host of One on One with Dr. Lynette Long. She recently published Op-Eds in both USA Today and the Baltimore Sun about the current election cycle. Her blog is www.lynettelong.com.

An audio archive of the program will be available at NQR immediately following the show.

P.S. (If you missed our first caucus show with Pacific John, the audio archive is available at NQR.)

The SD’s should pay attention to this:

Pres ‘08
July 28 USA Today/Gallup
McCain (R) 49%, Obama (D) 45%

I must have been hearing it totally wrong because I could swear I heard FOX news yesterday say there was an 8 pt difference between Obama and McCain and when she showed the 49-40 difference I was a bit shocked.

NOW I’m hearing McCain is AHEAD?

wow, how did that swing event occur?
Maybe it is EURO-GATE? Promoting himself to the Banking committee just in time to attend his first meeting? lmao

What’s the deal with that? He took credit for actions by a committee he was not on. Hagel and Bayh are both on that committee. They’re both on the shortlist for VP for Obama. They’ve both joined Obama’s campaign.
No politicking there.

That will show the American public that the Democratic Party is much cleaner than the Republican Party. NOT.

Comment by Dawnelle leóna del puma | 2008-07-28 21:52:35

and they will MOST SANCTIMONIOUSLY excuse their behavior as getting even with GW’s MESS.

No MATTER who is it - as long as it is not a Republican OR a CLINTON! APPARENTLY!

My cousin (OBama yuppie, God love him) said just tonight that “no one has a right to say anything about inept or inexperienced when we’ve put up with GW for 8 yrs.” and “Nothing could be as bad as him.”

My response. “That’s NOT true you know” and “don’t even get me started cuz I have a list of 60 plus lies you really don’t want to hear.” (and I mumbled, things like Nafta,Fisa,Iraq) and my daughter elbowed me. (seriously) LOL

After that point, dinner was FAB.

Polls are very fluid and sometimes seem to be poor predictors.

Even the Corporate Media/MSM are starting to report the feeling of unease voters have about Obama. Apparently his “World Tour/Rock Concert” did not sit well with some Americans.

His acting as President while unelected probably scared some folks. His surrogates calling him President Obama during interviews didn’t help.

It’s as if he’s appointed himself President and none of our votes are needed. You don’t need a degree to know that way lies dictatorship, not democracy.

Comment by Angry Michelle | 2008-07-28 21:32:06

Democracy is so yesterday. Why don’t we try something new for a change?

Sounded like a good show.

It’s very tough to hear the callers talk about their experiences. I can’t turn the volume any higher, so wish the shows would make whatever technical adjustments are necessary for the future.

Lynette is so loud I have to keep turning it down from my end.

GREAT SHOW THOUGH!!!

THANK YOU

Susan I wonder which Washington state interests want to keep the caucus system. Surely somebody benefits from this.

Funny how Obama harangued both Clinton and McCain about public financing. They accepted it. Obama decided against it when it was to his advantage.

Obama supporters reply? It’ll help him win.

FISA? He has to appeal to the more conservative voters in order to win.

So Obama doesn’t need to keep his word about anything. As long as he wins. Sounds pretty politically cutthroat to me.

But that’s okay. Obama needs to be cutthroat to win.

I thought Hillary was the “do anything to win” candidate? Guess not.

Comment by AF catfish | 2008-07-28 21:57:28

I thought we learned this lesson in 2004 - once we compromise everything in order to win, we lose.

I liked what the guest was saying about how the caucuses shut out the MILITARY.
I thought that was DEAD ON BRILLIANT !

Comment by Dawnelle leóna del puma | 2008-07-28 22:00:06

Yea we were just so DAMN DEMOCRATIC weren’t we?????

I’m sorry I just couldn’t be a hypocrite and remain a D any longer.
Those that are fighting for it I give you props but I just can’t do it.

If they get wise and pick Hillary I promise I will start giving the DNC my lunch money again.

The bussing in of voters has got to be reported. One caller from Iowa said that Biden even acknowledged it by saying, “hello Iowa” and then turning in the crowd to the Obama supporters and saying, “hello Chicago”. It would be nice if someone from the press would ask him about that.
