Barack Obama has long been his party’s presumptive nominee. Now he’s becoming its presumptuous nominee.
Obama campaign’s arrogance has begun to anger reporters.
Yah think? Begun to anger? Welcome to the club, Dana – it’s been angering us for quite a while. Ironic this is bothering you now, though. I thought you thought the sun rose and set on Obama’s inexperienced behind.
Fresh from his presidential-style world tour, during which foreign leaders and American generals lined up to show him affection, Obama settled down to some presidential-style business in Washington yesterday.

So let me get this straight, he’s actually taking PM Gordon Brown aside and telling him how one ought to govern? Oy, somebody get the hook, please. When he figures out how many states we actually have in our union and that his uncle didn’t actually liberate Auschwitz and that they don’t speak Arabic in Afghanistan, and the small details of coming up with a health care policy that actually works, and learns what a capital gains tax is, among many other things, well that might be a start…
Unless Il Duce is too busy getting fitted for his crown. Whoever is assigned the awful task of designing that crown is going to have a heckuva time – Obama’s head is growing larger every day.
On his presidential-style visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem last week, Obama left a written prayer, intercepted by an Israeli newspaper, asking God to “help me guard against pride and despair.” He seems to have the despair part under control, but the pride could be a problem.
The problem is Americans like an underdog. They don’t respond well to hubris. Certainly not at the voting booth.
The Obama mass marketing strategy seems to be to act as if you already have the thing, brainwashing the public into believing you do.
As Captain Picard used to decree on Star Trek: “Make It So.”
Obama acts like McCain is but a fly in the ointment. Obama treated Hillary the same way. But considering Obama and McCain are basically tied at the polls while Kerry was waaaaaayyyy ahead of Bush at this time in 2004, this does not bode well for the anointed one.
Dana, your fellow reporters note he is: “acting like the Prom Queen” and one also said, “I’ve never had an experience like this, with this campaign or others.”
And as for your colleague, Eugene Robinson, who keeps spreading the memo that calling Barack “arrogant” is like saying he’s “uppity,” Eugene should be ashamed of himself for using such a horrible manipulation. Arrogance is arrogance, no matter the race, gender or age of the person displaying it. Anyone else but Barack would be excoriated for this behavior.
Maybe Obama shouldn’t measure the White House for new drapes just yet. The Republicans have not yet begun to fight because they are waiting to see who the REAL nominee is going to be at the Convention. Trust me, they have more than enough ammunition. And they will not be intimidated by Barack’s interior designers.

I read somewhere that the magazine covers of Obama in Germany were satires. They were making fun of him — “Messiah” “Superstar.”
Europeans think we are pretty naive. I don’t think they’re as impressed with the phake mussiah as we think they are.
That I believe. I remember being in Europe when Reagan was first elected. They thought his shock of black pompadour head of hair was hilarious. That made quite a statement to them apparently. And not a positive one at the time.

Had someone cranked up the Jeremiah Wright videos before Super Tuesday, Hillary would be our nominee. Post Reverend Wright Hillary got 55% of the vote.
I actually expected Obama to be a man and drop out of the race after the Wright tapes emerged. I underestimated Obama’s arrogance back then but I won’t anymore — he also expects to be treated like a god and not a man.

Iowa was hijacked by bus loads of teenagers who bullied people at the caucuses. Believe me, Iowans are very savvy politically. Don’t judge them bu the pirated caucuses.
Then the caucuses have to go — a thoroughly undemocratic procedure anyway — that leaves out military, cops, firefighters, shift workers, single parents, older and frail voters, poor voters.
They also don’t see the AA political thuggery that has ruined the public school systems in almost every major American city.
I tend to agree with you. However if everything that has come out about him doesn’t persuade voters to take a closer look at him I don’t think that would have mattered. Let us not forget he really did get the majority of the black vote only because he is black enough. That won’t change. I say this at the risk of being cast a racist. We all just better keep talking to anyone that will listen with facts not retoric. We can change peoples minds about him. YES WE CAN. I find that most people have no clue to what is really going on, and alot of those who do, think this is just a phase and are ignoring it. They think McCain is a shoe in. Personally, I’m not surprised that Barry has gotten this far with the media since his technique is a tried and true one of simple ego massage.
If you attend to his “cause and effect”, you’ll notice a tendency. Barry has, all through this short career of his, had the simple skill of finding people who don’t have a clear choice in a matter and, by sayin’ things like “those people over there don’t get it, but you and I, we’re smarter than they are and we see the truth don’t we?”

Because while McCain for the longest time demurred that he was only the presumptive nominee, Obama and the Dem party bosses have been telling Hillary supporters to “get over it.” They will deny Hillary her right to challenge Obama at the convention. As I have said on Savage Politics, I believe the European victory tour will backfire. As the chosen one’s arrogance and supersized ego, pumped up by a blind media and adoring masses (remember Hitler started out this way), Americans are coming to the conclusion that Barry is more enamored of his reflection in the mirror than the work that lies ahead. In fact, people are beginning to know who Barry really is, but those of us who followed the trail from his 143 days in the Senate, know what this empty suit is all about.
The more interesting aspect of his victory lap is the absence of the Queen, I speak, of course, of Michelle. She has been conspicuously absent from the limelight. She has such high negatives that the minute they start on her background, the Republicans will have a victory by the back door.
The polls are also very interesting. Not only the press is getting bored with the chosen one, but also the American public. The fact that the chosen one did not get a bump in the polls from his European victory lap, is another non-surprise. The Republicans are doing well by staying silent and letting McCain be McCain. While the Democrats have delusions of winning Virginia, the Republicans know better.
The fact that the MSM seems to be in the tank for Barry is becoming obvious also. The media is beginning to allienate the public as well. They have lost all credibility.
As this develops, everyone can watch the chosen one self destruct. That part will be fun to see. The other part, that the Democrats had a candidate, Hillary Clinton, who could have won, will be said until everyone thinks about 2012.

Obama seems to me to have an uncontrollable need to feed his ego. His prayer at the Western Wall was very telling, referring to his pride and dispair. We saw the need to fill his ego with the Berlin speech. We saw his dispair when he seemed to deflate when Hillary was kicking all over the yard in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, etc.

Arrogance is thinking that, as a former cocaine user with daddy issues and a very short political career under your belt, you “deserve” to be President.

Not ONE request that God aid his fellow humans on this earth.

Nothing was real and you could make up shit as you went along. Furniture talked and everyone thought Pee Wee was wonderful. He had funny and kind friends (the media plays that roll today) But it wasn’t real. There was a man behind the curtain (today that man is D Axelrod) and once Pee Wee was caught wanking in public, the Playhouse closed.
The trip to Europe was fun but the long term reviews are less than glowing. It is important to actually be elected president before running around the world acting like the president.
For me this show is way old and needs to be cancelded. The replacement is the Hillary Show, with a veteran star and the ability to do it for real.

HW’s response to BOR’s question regarding Obama acting presidential or presumptuous. HW said he came very close to crossing the line. You have to listen to the whole thing to get the gist of it, but in my opinion, he didn’t sound anything like he was using Adm. Sestak’s or Terry McAuliffe’s talking points. It sounded like he was talking to us and he was telling us he knows, she knows, they all know, but you won’t hear them screaming from the rooftops…yet!

I don’t know, I just thought it was strange to see our friend Howard Wolfson as a Fox News Contributor on the Bill O’Reilly show. I think he was there to contrast against Dick Morris, but he wasn’t talking like some of the other good guys who went to the dark side (i.e. Evan Bayh, Adm. Sestak, Gov. Rendall, etc.) He prsented a more honest assessment of Obama without being confrontational. Maybe it is wishful thinking…I will definitely be up to watch the second airing at 11pm edt.

Umm, have you ever sat back and thought what it is about Obama that makes half the people love him and half the people despise him? 18 million people don’t won’t him to be the nominee, 18 million do. But you can’t discount that 18 million who don’t. There is a reason. You are in love with an ideal. With the symbol so to speak that Obama aspires to be. We want experience. We won’t dependability. We want knowhow. We want someone who knows how to be President and doesn’t need 4 years to get the hang of it. We don’t want a symbol. We don’t want Obama’s idealism. We want concrete results. In a perfect world where there are no wars, no recession, stable banks, stable economy, stable anything, idealism would be fine. We don’t have that. Obama doesn’t have the knowledge or experience to handle this country right now, not in the shape we are in. And it does worry all of us that the “idealistic devotees” will elect this man and doom this country that we live in. We don’t have time for this man. We need Clinton. We’ll settle for McCain, but now is not the time to wear an idealistic cloak. Winter time is coming, most of us need more than that to stay warm this year. We don’t like what the DNC did, they robbed us of our votes, they stole delegates, they sanctioned the highjacking of a nomination.
