Obama’s Empty Blue Boxes

Obama’s excellent adventures have now ended. He visited the troops in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan, with a little basketball thrown in. He has wowed and wooed “200,000″ people at a free concert in Germany. We had to “jack the bus” up higher as Obama “threw” the injured troops from Ramstein and Landstuhl under the bus with us. He pretended to be president in London when he said “I have committed more troops to Afghanistan”. Skip the beginning, go to 4:26, his words are quite obvious.

He schmoozed Sarkozy in France and renegotiated some treaties. According to Sean Carman, Senator Barack Obama announced today that on his recent overseas tour he successfully negotiated a wide-ranging treaty with America’s European allies. Logan Act violations anyone?

Maureen Dowd of the New York Times in her op-ed piece Cyclops and Cunning chatted with Obama about gifts for his girls and Foreign Heads of States. It turns out Obama has a key chain and snow globe aide to get gifts for his girls.

She asked about those blue boxes with the ribbons that “body man”, Reggie Love, was toting for heads of state. Obama said this about those boxes:

“I was not well organized enough to personally think of what presents to give these guys,” Obama said. “Hopefully, should I end up being president, I can put my touch on the present thing. But I didn’t even know it was a custom to give presents other than state visits.”

Obama's Disorganization

Dowd said this:

Sure enough, “our hero” came home to a passel of economic troubles in Dreamerica, rushing to talk to Bernanke & Paulson. Some news analyses of his trip wondered “Where’s the Bounce?” The old Hillary refrain — why can’t he close the deal against a supposedly flawed opponent — echoes.

.
I heard Amazon.com sells “Protocol 101 for Dummies” for $14.95! Well someone needs to order one for our “pretend president”!

That looks like a picture of Heil H next to Lincoln. I’m sorry, but this joker must not be elected President and, dangit, we really, really, really need HRC to nominated and elected. We are in a world of hurt here and neither McCain or BHO are even close to being up for the task of righting this ship.

I am beyond pissed that stupid, stupid, stupid Dem leadership has pushed this incompetent fool forward over someone who can do great things for the Party and for the country and for us. I want them all to pay unless they get their acts together and remedy this nightmare.

Want Tickets to Obama’s Acceptance Speech? Forget Ticketmaster

Money won’t get you into Denver’s Invesco Field when Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech at next month’s Democratic convention, but a pledge to volunteer time to his campaign might do the trick.
Denver Admission = Pledge to Obama

Colorado’s Democratic Party and the Obama campaign are talking about distributing tickets to the Thursday, Aug. 28, speech to those who pledge to do door-to-door canvassing, make phone calls, register voters, work on get-out-the-vote projects and otherwise help the party in Colorado this fall.

Actually, you could not pay me enough to sit through Obama’s acceptance speech, there is no way I will even watch it. I clicked on this Obama video and I could not get past 30 seconds — I am just not in the mood to listen to this nauseating clown, he is so yesterday and tiresome.

Comment by Prem | 2008-07-30 20:02:37

Same here—I couldn’t stand listening to his “Uh. . . uh.. . . . .uh. . “—had to stop the video. No, I won’t be anywhere near waiting in line to hear his acceptance speech, and God willing, it won’t happen anyway. Those loyalty oaths are for dictatorships. . .

I wonder if some hacker could be persuaded to disable the teleprompters in Denver?

Comment by navyvet48 | 2008-07-31 02:54:08

go to 4:26 in the video that is where he says I have committed troops tp Afghanistan….skip the beginning.

Comment by John House | 2008-08-05 17:47:45

Urm. I did skip to that (well, actually, I skipped to about 30 seconds before that, just so I could get some context in) and there is no quote that says ““I have committed more troops to Afghanistan”.

The actual quote begins at 5:05.

Don’t worry about Hillary getting the nom. They’ve already announced she gets the keynote address on Tuesday night…and I just received an email from her that says this:

“Dear Friend,

The commitment you and I and thousands of others have made to helping Barack Obama win on November 4th means more than making sure he defeats John McCain.

“A genuine 2008 victory also has to include putting an end to Republican obstructionism in the Senate.

“The current GOP Senate minority has set an all-time record: using the filibuster more often than at any time in history. On more than 80 different occasions, they have blocked progress on ending the war, stymied efforts to rebuild our economy, impeded forward movement on health care, or stood in our way on a whole host of other issues.

“In these last 100 days before the election, let’s pour ourselves - each and every one of us, heart and soul - into electing Barack Obama and giving him a filibuster-proof Senate, ready, willing and able to create the authentic change America is yearning for.

“What you do now could set the stage for an enormous era of progress for our nation - progress that Barack Obama can lead us towards - and that a shrinking Republican minority in the Senate will be powerless to stop.”

My guess is Obama gets the nomination.

I didn’t get that email and neither did anyone else I know. Hillary hasn’t given up on becoming our next POTUS. She wouldn’t be sending out something like that until after the convention. I don’t think the email you received is from Hillary.

Comment by Diana | 2008-07-30 22:27:31

I never got that email either. Here’s what I got yesterday.

Dear Diana,

Summer is a time for simple pleasures: family vacations, baseball games, and dinner out under the stars. At least it is if you aren’t running for president!

It sure is nice having a little more time on my hands, and I’d love to spend some of it with you. Would you like to join me for dinner?

During the campaign, I had the chance a few times to grab meals with supporters, but they were always rushed thanks to the frenetic pace of the campaign. This is my first chance to sit down and spend some real one-on-one time with you. If you enter today, we could be having dinner together soon!

Join me for dinner. Make a contribution today.

My staff has been calling this my “retirement dinner” — not because I’m retiring, of course, but because we’re working on retiring the debt we owe to small vendors all over the country. And everyone who acts today will have the chance to join me — along with a guest — for a dinner to talk about whatever you’d like.

Let’s go to dinner! Contribute now, and you and I could be enjoying a summer dinner together soon!

Join me for dinner. Make a contribution today.

Thank you so much for all your wonderful support.

All the best,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Comment by BlueDolphin | 2008-07-31 08:38:58

And I WILL contribute later today!

Thanks for posting that…

He will lose if they nominate him.

My feeling is he will get nod then GOP will let him have it, leading to him ‘voluntarily’ stepping down from the nomination since it will be clear to everyone he will lose, then he will retire to Chicago (and an ignominious retreat it will be after his ‘Adoration of the Obami Tour’).

Then we will have Hillary back and we will win in November.

I don’t think Obama is being used with the expectation he’ll be elected president. Just being used to be sure an FDR-type person is not. My take is that’s just fine with Karl Rove, though I doubt he’s the main man behind it. PUMAs aren’t going to follow Hillary into supporting Obama. Obama’s not going to be president. Who is? I don’t know.

The world and the USA need leadership. Some are working very hard to be sure that doesn’t happen.

A wise person recently said, “the more forces appeal to the three presidential candidates who still find themselves in the race, to honor the promise of the American Constitution and Declaration of Independence for all nations on this planet, the greater the chance that America can return to the positive role which it played in the times of Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. ”

She also said, “…sometime in the middle of the 1960s a paradigm shift set in, in which the talk was no longer about overcoming underdevelopment, through the construction of infrastructure, industry, and agriculture, but of ‘overpopulation,’ ‘appropriate technology,’ and ’sustainable development.’ Instead of producing harvests for the welfare of their own populations, the developing countries had to produce, more and more, so-called “cash crops” for export, in order to pay off their foreign debt, which had been constantly increased through the conditionality of the IMF.”

I was taught in school that the American revolution had been won. Now I know better. History is not a chronology of past events. History is what we are living.

What a piece of work - literally. Remember when the snake lipped media used to wax about “how can me help Bu$h” out of this or that criminal act? Now my own party is doing the same thing for an even less qualified candidate. I like my candidates strong - in experience, character and intelligence. Not so much “work” if you know what I mean, and some real issues could get taken care of.

Since we have all experienced the last 8 years of tripe from the media covering for Bu$h - we are not going to stand for it again.

The DNC/OPP(obama pod people)/media(corporate shills) are not drinking the kool aid - they are inhaling it straight if they think we will accept this fraud.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-07-30 18:48:02

Is baby Obama tired from his trip? Whose turn is it to give him a bottle and burp him.

That photo with Obama sitting with his feet on his desk is a typical position for him. I read an article where other employees at the law firm Obama worked at were ticked off at him because he would go in his office, put his feet on his desk, and type his book on a lap top. Of course his book is about his favorite subject — HIM!

OMG!!! I just heard the new “pro-Obama” rap song (and I use the term “song” loosely … simple “noise” is more like it) from Ludacris, and it is a God-send for the McCain campaign. The lyrics of this particular musical masterpiece go like this:

“I’m back on it like I just signed my record deal
Yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
Never should have hated, You never should’ve doubted him
With a slot in the president’s iPod Obama shouted ‘em

Said I handle my biz and I’m one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I’m ever in the slammer
Better yet put me in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it how you want it head or gut?
And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win majority vote in every state on my man

You can’t stop what’s bout to happen, we bout to make history
The first black president is destined and it’s meant to be
The threats ain’t fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
So get off your ass, black people, it’s time to get out and vote!

Paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ‘em terrified
McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and just throw ‘em like candy wrap
’cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents

Get out and vote or the end’ll be near
The world is ready for change because Obama is here
’cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here, yeah cuz Obama is here.”

But believe me, just reading the words to this shit doesn’t even begin to capture how offensive this will be to older white voters. The “music” backing it up is hardcore ghetto “gangsta” rap stuff. This will reinforce every lingering doubt about Obama that lower-middle class and middle classs white voters will have about possibly putting a black man in the White House.

The McCain campaign itself should stay above the fray here but get their surrogates to play this up in their 527 ads to the extreme.

This is potential dynamite.

Here is the note I sent to Def Jams recordings:
http://www.defjam.com/site/contact.php
(sorry about the length of my rant)

Your (Ludacris’s) song calling Hillary a “B” (no one must have told him what the Clintons did in Harlem) is cowardly. She got 18 million votes and she is still well respected.

Your comments about McCain are insane- try spending 5.5 years tied in a box getting tortured by really scary fuckers- not those cartoon characters you rap about. The man turned down early release in favor of other men. He is crippled because he actually served his country, fucker.

You are no longer relevant- this is not entertainment and you are too stupid to know who buys your albums and who puts you in movies. It is over for you. Remember Pepsi? It has already begun.

To those racists who really do exist and really do think obama is a thug- you just confirmed it for them and added the largest group of undecided voters to leave your candidate to his gangsta friends. You just torpedoed his campaign.

You are too isolated to know that the masses like obama because he is obama, not because he is black. Drop the victim mentality already.

I bet three gold teeth that you are not even registered to vote. Vote or die, right? You need perspective- turn around your evil ways and your talent and you could end up really, really helping people. Shame you are choosing this path.

I know you have plenty of well-deserved money. Please invest because obama has already thrown you under his bus and your career is about to take a dive. Get your head straight; do good in the world.

He was supposed to get gifts, like frankincense and myrrh.

I’m surprised nobody here has jumped on the Ludicrous song yet. And Ludicrous is someone that Obama says he likes (and his supporters say we are racist). Although one of Obama’s aides has already thrown Ludicrous under the bus

23/6 is a political satire website. The Sean Carman piece is satire.

Comment by Ted | 2008-07-30 19:17:09

These folks don’t quite get satire. That’s been shown sveral times already, but this is a funny non-the-less.

First, Maureen you’re a female misogynist, you always have been–I guess you and Freud could have had a wonderful interview about your penis oh I mean Obama envy.
Secondly, McCain better be really careful. This guy’s megalomania is so over the top and he may become so delusional that he begins to plot some other way to get rid of the competition, maybe like the Russians do it, just slip some poisonous substance in his suitcase.
Lastly, when all the cheering and hoopla ends after the convention(the Repubs have been so patient, haven’t they)will the Secret Service stand guard on suicide watch?

Obama never held one hearing on the Afganistan war that he is chairing but goes around negotiating it with foreign leaders. That’s called being a hypocrite. Egobama has to go, he shouldn’t even be a senator.

Comment by alibe4Hillary | 2008-07-30 19:26:18

I always felt he didn’t hold hearings because he couldn’t get clearance. How the hell could he receive a Top Secret Clearance? No clearance…no hearings.

As much as I hate to dispel any bad Barry bites, the Sean Carman piece, I believe, is snark. But MoDo has him pegged….like Icarus flying close to the sun, we can only hope for the full effect of global warming on the precious, presumptuous one.

I am crying croc tears for Arianna Huffington tonight. Here’s what she said about Tim Kaine in 2006:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/dems-pick-kaine-for-state_b_14112.html

Don’t ask me why, but I actually watched Kaine’s inaugural address on C-SPAN, and I was stunned to hear him dare compare the cause of Virginians like Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson to our cause in Iraq: “They stood here at a time, just as today, when Virginians serving freedom’s cause sacrificed their lives so that democracy could prevail over tyranny.”

Iraq as a war to ensure that democracy can prevail over tyranny is George Bush’s talking point. God help us if it’s also the talking point of the man the Democrats have chosen to respond to him after the State of the Union.

And during Kaine’s run for Governor, he adopted another Bush talking point — that it would send “a horrible message” to “cut and run” in Iraq. Could that be any further from Murtha’s message that Iraq has become a civil war — a civil war being inflamed by our continuing presence?

Maybe you are thinking — at least those of you who have a life and missed his inaugural speech on C-SPAN — that Kaine is a charismatic speaker who will really wow the American people. Well, he ain’t. In fact, he scored so low on the scintillating speaker meter, that today’s Note suggests Democrats make it a priority to get the Guv a speech tutor before the State of the Union.

I hope Obama picks him. What a “progressive” Obama is turning out to be. Weather vanes are more progressive.

And Kaine is pro-life, even better. Oh, pick him, Obama, pick him!
