The Presumptuous Candidate: “This is the moment . . . that the world is waiting for”

To whom did Mr. Obama utter those astonishing words?

Democratic members of the House of Representatives.

Imagine heavyweights like Reps. John Murtha and Norm Dicks hearing that from this lightweight candidate. Heavyweights like those two who wield enormous power — QUIETLY — through their committee positions. Dicks, for example, has reached the highest tiers of the Appropriations committee, and has served for years on the Intelligence committee.

ABC News caught the story in The Note:

The latest entry in the (bulging) Obama files: “This is the moment . . . that the world is waiting for,” he told House Democrats Tuesday night, per The Washington Post’s Jonathan Weisman. “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.”

(Read that sentence again, and try to imagine how it would look if it was said on camera.)

Obama may be right (and if he is, he wins) — but the first person singular is the most dangerous of tenses, particularly when the meme is being set. Toss in a jettisoned faux-presidential seal, a canceled visit with troops, maybe a sprinkling of broken promises, and you’ve got enough to weave an uncomfortable yet unforgettable suit.

With a public schedule that “would have made Dick Cheney envious,” this is Obama going from presumptive to presumptuous, Dana Milbank writes in his Washington Post column.

“Some say the supremely confident Obama — nearly 100 days from the election, he pronounces that ‘the odds of us winning are very good’ — has become a president-in-waiting,” Milbank writes. “But in truth, he doesn’t need to wait: He has already amassed the trappings of the office, without those pesky decisions.”

“Toss in a jettisoned faux-presidential seal, a canceled visit with troops, maybe a sprinkling of broken promises, and you’ve got enough to weave an uncomfortable yet unforgettable suit. …”

Add to that the faux outrage over Kotel. The Obama campaign designed the “outrage” for consumption by Israeli newspapers, which are widely read by Jews in the U.S. (and the Obama campaign knows this).

But, the Israeli newspapers followed through, and discovered that the Obama campaign purposely leaked Obama’s prayer note. As LisaB quoted yesterday:

What initially seemed to be a journalistic scoop of dubious moral propriety now seems to be a case of an Israeli paper being played by the Barack Obama campaign.

Mr. Obama, American Jews will read this story too. You’ve just lost more credibility with an important group of voters already skeptical because of your associations with those close to Louis Farrakhan.

The central point of the ABC News story is the presumptuousness that Mr. Obama parades.

Reality check: There remains a nomination to be secured, and an election to be won.

ACTION item: Obama gamed the primaries by exploiting the weaknesses in the caucuses. We can put a stop to that by taking this simple survey from IOwnMyVote.com. Why? Because the people behind this survey will ensure that our views get in the right hands.

Border-line Personality Disorder
NObama’s got it.

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-07-30 16:35:00

Others feel he has narcissistic personality disorder or antisocial personality disorder (sociopathy).

Whatever the exact issue(s) may or may not be, dude’s got problems and that’s not what we need in The Oval Office or as a representative of the party.

Also, Obama should be careful of imbibing on his own Kool Aid, lest their be a shortage for his followers.

Comment by Shainzona | 2008-07-30 17:09:02

Todd at MyDD thinks we miss an important point:

“Milbank goes on to report on Obama’s closed meeting with the House delegation and irresponsibly, but typically, truncates Obama’s statements for his own narrative purposes:

Inside, according to a witness, he told the House members, “This is the moment . . . that the world is waiting for,” adding: “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.”

The truth, of course, is that Obama was actually making the point that it wasn’t about him at all…”

LOL – Obama supporters are so hilarious.

If we’re waiting for him to fall on his face, just imagine how happy it will make the heavyweights in Congress. I bet he’s made a lot of enemies – and not just Republicans.

The actual quote, in fill context
9for those interested in the facys)

“But one leadership aide said the full quote put it into a different context. According to that aide, Obama said, “It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign — that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all. It’s about America. I have just become a symbol.”

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-30 17:39:20

The last sentence shows him to be a megalomaniac. It could just be a coincidence, a quirk of fate, or “200,000″ eating bratwurst and drinking pilsner at a concert. It probably isn’t about him at all. You really must stop the omissions.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-07-30 18:12:31

“I have just become a symbol.”

“I am a blank slate upon which people can project their hopes and fears.”

This guy is a psycho. He never takes personal responsibility for anything, because he has no real sense of self. Like many cult leaders, he is a psychic vampire and a dangerous sociopath.

Mc Cain should run a commercial of the video they are playing today on the news channels. Barry in his shades, snapping his Nicorette gum, looking like he thinks he is all that and a bag of chips. Arrogance has nothing to do with race. It has to do with “having or displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth or self-importance.”

Yeah, I want to vote for that guy to run this troubled country.

That ought to motivate the base.

These people need to be targeted, electorally, and removed from office.

Since the meeting with Obama, there was a resolution or some such thing passed apologizing for the US’s racial history and now this.

Both are transparent attempts to keep the issue of race in the minds of Americans as BHO tumbles in the polls and gaffes on things like not visiting the troops because it’s not a photo op.

The Obama Posse can only win if we allow them to control the narrative very, very tightly. Otherwise, the truth comes out and they lose.

Fall in, PUMAs. Even if Obama doesn’t have time for our armed services, we would do well to adopt some of their discipline in fighting the Evil ACORNian Empire that wants to remake modern America into 1930’s Russia.

Comment by Chicago Joe | 2008-07-30 18:11:27

Creepy. Obama has serious character flaws that should not be brought into the Oval Office. His grandiose terminology and egocentric attitude points to a possible psychological disorders. We don’t need a crazy president.

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-07-30 17:36:46

Yep, add those to the ABANDONMENT and DADDY issues–to say nothing of the ADDICTION issues he hasn’t entirely overcome, though he says he’s dropped the drugs (have another smoke, Your Holiness) and you have a toxic soup of trouble a-brewing.

No matter how much power he accrues, he’s never going to be able to “show daddy” that he shouldn’t have left mommy and Hawaii, because daddy is DEAD.

His relatives in Kenya would like him to maybe give them running water, perhaps donate to the school like he PROMISED so they can hold their heads up again. But they could give a shit about him beyond his reflected fame (or shame, as the case may be). There’s no genuine LOVE there, and there never will be.

Love comes from knowing, and his daddy never knew him, nor did daddy’s wives, girlfriends or assorted children. He’s just a big old light, bright American made Cash Cow. Moo, Barack, Moo! And start giving some of that cash milk, while you’re at it–how long do we have to keep pulling?

And speaking of knowing, he separated himself from his mother to go to school in Hawaii, and cleaved, imperfectly, apparently, to his grandparents.

How does he honor them? Well, he lies about Grampy’s military service, and consequently drags the poor dead guy’s name through the mud, and then he calls the Grammy who raised him a racist.

This is the Grammy who sacrificed, who went through all that teen-aged angst and rebellion crap AFTER she’d raised her own family, who did her best to see her grandson well educated, well housed and well clothed in the world, and that’s how he repays HER…drags HER good name through the mud. “Oh, poor BarAAAAAACK…he was, yew KNEEEW, raised by a RAAAAAcist Gran-ma-MAH, ewwww!”

Poor Grammy’s not dead. She’s not locked in an institution. She’s got access to the news. Hell, she is still living in that same little two-bedroom apartment she raised that kid in. She knows what he said about her, on national TV, in a pandering speech. He sucked up to his “Ridin’ Dirty” Reverend, and threw Grammy, his own blood, the one person who DID care about him and who did NOT abandon him, under that famously crowded bus.

Imagine the pain of hearing that from the kid you raised, sitting in your crappy little apartment (you might have afforded a nicer joint if you hadn’t spent so much on the kid), all alone, your husband dead, your ungrateful grandson smirking at your “racist” ass from your TV screen.

Such an unkind cut.

Anything To Win. That should be his motto, the soulless clown.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-07-30 16:29:08

Actually, Susan, it turns out that Maariv’s suggestion that Obama released the note to the press is completely untrue – as related to the New Republic by Ma’ariv themselves.

http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/07/29/obama-vindicated.aspx

I just got off the phone with a Ma’ariv spokesman who says that the accusation is “completely false,” and that he has no idea who these papers were quoting from Ma’ariv. “No official spokesman for Ma’ariv told this to any of the papers.” I’ve got some calls in to these papers to find out where they got the quote. (I’ll update here when I hear back.) He told me definitively that “the Obama campaign did not give us a copy of the letter or approve it for printing.”

Care to rephrase?

Comment by mahaska | 2008-07-30 16:56:45

Let’s see, who to believe? A proven liar and sneak or a newspaper with no dog in the fight. Hmmm. I choose the paper.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-07-30 16:58:24

It appears that in this case, you chose wrong, yes?

Comment by AnnieCarmel | 2008-07-30 17:11:25

Well, uh…no. One thing Barack is NOT and that is humble as his little “prayer note” suggests. Difference between words and actions are very easy to see.

His “for public consumption prayer” pretends humility but we NEVER see that in action. He’s the most egotistical, pompous, jerk to come down th pike in…oh, about eight years.

So, yes. The news report rings more true.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-07-30 17:15:55

Yes, it may “ring” more true to you, but the fact is that it’s NOT true, by the newspaper’s own account. However much you prize your own intuitions, they’re not more persuasive than the actual facts.

Comment by AnnieCarmel | 2008-07-30 17:20:38

We’ll see. This story is not over. To be continued.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-07-30 17:26:01

My take is that the Maariv’s “retraction” was because it was beginning to be accused helping the obama camp or working with the obama camp on this campaign stunt. To distance themselves from that Maariv retracted the “permission” and would rather face charges of invasion of privacy rather than interfering with American politics by working with an American presidental campaign.

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/127001

Based on these statements by Maariv, Israel Insider concluded that the Obama campaign “managed the event brilliantly, if deceptively, getting the double benefit of appearing to be victimized by the invasive Israeli press and prayer-thieving Jew while at the same time leaking out his humble Christian plea to the Lord.” The report noted that by the week’s end, “a (relatively) slick video appeared on [public video website] YouTube that blended Obama’s Western Wall prayer with various church scenes, crosses aplenty, a dove of peace, and a soundtrack based on Amazing Grace. The video closes with a “vote” button and an invitation to visit the official campaign website.”

Your research stinks. Try explaining this to American Jews. Democratic voters and big time campaign contributors for more years than you have been alive.

Not good. And. Couldn’t happen to a bigger SCHMUCK.

I don’t care what that paper says. If Obama did not want the content released then he should have been more humble and not even let it be known that he left the prayer in the wall in the first place. I mean really…are you seriously defending this? Prayer is something very personal. It is not meant to be shared with anyone, the act or content. But Obama supporters wouldn’t know that because they think it is ok that Obama sat in a racist, American hating church for 20 years and is good friends with a terrorist. Save it. It was a stunt and I would say it is safe to say Obama wanted the contents and whereabouts known, he just didn’t want it to be said that he revealed it himself.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-07-30 17:42:43

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-30 17:46:54

Why does he expect any privacy at foreign campaign stop with cameras and protestors?

Especially when he left his prayer so easily retrived?

It is the epitome of stupidity and quite possibly some instant karma for selling out the American people’s privacy.

At the end of the day, he was disrespecting their Wall with his exploitative campaign stop complete with campaign signs.

However, even that didn’t stop him from insulting those people who disapproved of him doing so either.

Thinking that the Jewish protestors should have had more ‘reverence’ to his exploitation.

How disgusting!

No bet-he’ll do that but the press may be finally coming around and ask him a few pointed questions to which he will respond with another face-stuffer which he will then have to explain away in another hot-air soliloquy, followed up by more questions and more speeches and on and on. Narcissistic Personality Disorder

While grandiosity is the diagnostic hallmark of pathological narcissism, there is research evidence that pathological narcissism occurs in two forms, (a) a grandiose state of mind in young adults that can be corrected by life experiences, and (b) the stable disorder described in DSM-IV, which is defined less by grandiosity than by severely disturbed interpersonal relations.
The preferred theory seems to be that narcissism is caused by very early affective deprivation, yet the clinical material tends to describe narcissists as unwilling rather than unable, thus treating narcissistic behaviors as volitional — that is, narcissism is termed a personality disorder, but it tends to be discussed as a character disorder. This distinction is important to prognosis and treatment possibilities. If NPD is caused by infantile damage and consequent developmental short-circuits, it probably represents an irremediable condition. On the other hand, if narcissism is a behavior pattern that’s learned, then there is some hope, however tenuous, that it’s a behavior pattern that can be unlearned. The clinical literature on NPD is highly theoretical, abstract, and general, with sparse case material, suggesting that clinical writers have little experience with narcissism in the flesh. There are several reasons for this to be so:
– The incidence of NPD is estimated at 1% in the general population, though I haven’t been able to discover the basis of this estimate.
– Narcissists rarely enter treatment and, once in treatment, progress very slowly. We’re talking about two or more years of frequent sessions before the narcissist can acknowledge even that the therapist is sometimes helpful. It’s difficult to keep narcissists in treatment long enough for improvement to be made — and few people, narcissists or not, have the motivation or the money to pursue treatment that produces so little so late.
– Because of the influence of third-party payers (insurance companies), there has been a strong trend towards short-term therapy that concentrates on ameliorating acute troubles, such as depression, rather than delving into underlying chronic problems. Narcissists are very reluctant to open up and trust, so it’s possible that their NPD is not even recognized by therapists in short-term treatment. Purely anecdotal evidence from correspondents and from observations of people I know indicates that selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors, such as Prozac, aggravate narcissists’ grandiosity and lack of social inhibition. It has also been suggested that self-help literature about bolstering self-esteem and getting what you want out of life or that encourages the feeling of victimization has aggravating effects on NPD thinking and behavior.
– Most clinical writers seem unaware that narcissists’ self-reports are unreliable. This is troubling, considering that lying is the most common complaint about narcissists and that, in many instances, defects of empathy lead narcissists to wildly inaccurate misinterpretations of other people’s speech and actions, so that they may believe that they are liked and respected despite a history of callous and exploitative personal interactions.

As the daughter and ex-wife of two diagnosed narcissists, I can attest this is true. It seems to be caused by “injuries” when they child is around 3. But forget being sympathetic. A “Scarlet N” would be more protective of the general good and innocent people.

Comment by elise | 2008-07-30 17:16:00

In Obama’s case, wouldn’t there be enough public statements to confirm that diagnosis? The really troubling part to me is the reaction of a large part of the younger and Black population. Some of the comments on blogs friendly to him add to the misgivings I have. Some have even changed their names to his middle name. Everything is about him, as though they have invested so much of themselves into seeing him elected, they will never see the truth. How would they react if he is not awarded the nomination or wins the election. I think we have a serious problem here and the general public needs to be made aware, yet even if someone is in a position to do so, they may be too frightened to say anything. Are there any theories about how he might behave if he becomes president and is faced with decisions he is not qualified to make? I don’t think he is the only one we need to worry about either. Nancy Peolsi’s words over the last few days to Politico.com have struck me as very odd. Howard Dean has begun to refer to him as president. Here is a quote from Pelosi to politico:

“I have always loved longitude,” Nancy Pelosi says before breaking into laughter. “I love latitude; it’s in the stars. But longitude, it’s about time. … Time and clocks and all the rest of that have always been a fascination for me.”

Fascination with time and clocks? Now do we have another diagnosis here?

Every person who runs for the presidency has a large ego but Obama’s ego makes one question whether he is mentally ill. He seems to want to be president without any work or effort on his part. If Bush was a product of legacy then Obama is a product of affirmative action. In both cases we have less than qualified or mentally stable people running for the most powerful job in the world.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-07-30 19:36:49

Deke, trust me, having Narcissistic tendencies and being a Clinically Diagnosed Narcissist are worlds apart. I guess you just have to have kNOWN one to see the signs. This man is clinical. I have believed it for a long time.

Comment by Deke | 2008-07-30 19:55:27

Uppity there is something very creepy about Obama. I am a very large critic of the Bush administration but I really get the feeling Bush does not believe his press and doesn’t take himself to serious. He is a typical person from the upper class, take care of yourself and your class. Obama on the other hand I believe really has messianic tendencies and thinks he is the person the campaign has scripted for him. The comment of his in San Francisco were he stated he has more experience in foreign affairs than his opponents demonstrated his self aggrandizement. I fear for our country if he comes to power. We could be if for the first mentally incapacitated president.

Regardless of what he says or claims to stand for, his actions and his associations with many dishonest and deceitful people tell a completely different and more accurate picture. I feel sorry for those who are so empty in their own lives that they have clung onto Obama. This happens alot. Jim Jones, Jim Baker, Charles Manson etc. No good ever comes of people like this or those who follow them.

Obamabots got what they said they didn’t want.
But perhaps many Obamabots are like Kerry – claiming we should vote for Obama BECAUSE he’s a Black man.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-07-30 16:44:51

So – the following Democratic nominees could rightly be described as “corporate Democrats”:

Clinton (’92)
Clinton (’96)
Gore (’00)
Kerry (’04)
Obama (’08)

Because they’re not particularly brave politicians (although I think Gore’s gotten braver, for sure) doesn’t mean they weren’t – or aren’t – better than the guys they ran against.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-30 17:24:46

There is absolutely no way in hell that Obama is better than McCain. He really is the worst possible choice at the worst possible time. He is a man with no moral compass, no real world experience, no legislative accomplishment and not a fucking clue about any of the people who actually comprise this country. I think Obama is a lot like Jim Jones. Jones was praised similar to the way Obama is now — good speaker and charismatic. Jones did not have the following Obama does for the following reasons: He was not a politician running for president in a year when people are looking to vote for a Democrat. There was no race card for Jones to play and even if Jones were black the race card was not nearly as prominent 30 years ago as it is today. 30 years ago Obama would have very little apeal outside the black race.

Think, Clinton Fan, THINK!!!!

Ohhh, I dunno…PEACE on earth, An End to FAMINE, maybe CURES for diseases? Room for another on that slip of paper? How about a clean environment for future generations? How’s that Lord? Could you put that on your schedule?

But what does the Narcissist in Presumptuousness write? He barks a bunch of ORDERS to God–like “Take MY suit to the cleaners, get MY lunch ready, help MEEEE with this report, give MEEEE a haircut…!”

The guy cannot be humble, not even with GOD, and not even in PRIVATE!!!!!

“Lord – protect MY family and MEEEEEEEEE. Forgive MY sins, and help MEEEEEE guard against pride and despair. Give MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make MEEEEEEEEE an instrument of your will.”

It is all theatre and has been for months. Stage-crated as surely as anything Bush ever did. Bush/Cheney have made a lot of progress toward a Unitary Presidency and part of that was ignoring the FISA law. The next president who steps over the threshold of the Oval Office will have a moral choice to make: Undo what has been done to protect the Constitution or continue to centralize the Executive Power. This is a warning we had better heed because it can happen here which the last eight years have proven. Obama ignored the unconstitutionality of the FISA with his vote and I wonder how he really feels about that document? He studied it and taught it, why are his fellow students at Harvard asked not to speak about him? Or for that matter, why is anyone who could shed some light on his past opinions, off limits? Will he be required to release his grade transcripts if he wins the nomination? I wish someone could answer those questions or even knows who to ask.

This editor is going to look into this alleged “Ma’ariv spokesman” they quoted in his publication so we can try to ascertain if this is a Ma’ariv cover-up. Wait just a minute. Who has it become clear to and how many people share this vision. He had a rock concert in Germany (which the Beatles, Rolling Stones and the Who have also done) and he is somehow able to divine from that he is the new symbol to world for American. In the middle of the Summer, free beer, free music, free food and his ten minute speech does not have any hidden message from God that he is the chosen one. I watched that speech and I didn’t see anyone wildly enthusiastic. In fact, to me, it looked lukewarm. The American voters will decide who will be the next president and, right now, he has no better than a fifty/fifty chance and the more arrogance he displays, the easier the decision will be. I don’t pay a lot of attention to polls, but I have heard Democrats questioning why there is still so much opposition to him. He is a candidate for the nomination of the Democratic Party, not the president, not the messenger to the world, had no official capacity except on that part of the trip covered as a congressional visit. You are inflating his importance at this stage and this is what I would like you to tell me and this is not retorical. Have you even considered the possibility he will lose and if he does, what do you think will happen in real terms?

Now, more than ever, Obama needs to be vetted. Narcissists are notorious as charismatic sociopathic liars. The examples of their charisma has been made in previous posts.

Obama believes he IS the chosen one. He’s heard it so many times from people like Oprah, his staff, the Kerrys and the Kennedys. He’s begun to believe the hype himself. The similarities to Hitler’s persona are astounding. Hitler also proclaimed he was special, that he was destined for greatness!

Houston, we have a problem! Obama is not another problem Americans need or should feel responsible to rectify.

Obama, his entire family and his inner circle of friends are beyond dysfunctional. I think he’s a dangerous man and is unfit for the office of the presidency.

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-30 17:06:18

I think the polls say it all–even with the msm acting like they are in love with this guy and censoring all negative leads–he still has no lead over McCain. They won’t even run the Edwards story because the last time we saw Edwards he had his arm around Obama endorsing him. That’s too close for comfort for the msm as people could start wondering whether BO’s private life will be next. So his sociopathic lying and his delusions of grandiosity will be a thing of the past in September.

Comment by elise | 2008-07-30 19:43:00

msn is doing no one a favor by ignoring the Edwards situation. By now, his wife has to have heard the rumors so it can’t be out of concern she would find out. If this is not true, he can prove it and he can begin with a straight forward denial followed by statements from someone who has DNA proof. It’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t want some kind of civil suit demanding retraction from the NE. People who may not have heard, from the Internet or cable news, will understand the media has hidden this story for months will also know why. The damage will go beyond Edwards and his family. If he has done this thing, my heart breaks for his wife. Someone fighting for their lives against cancer and going through Chemo or Radiation, need the best positive environment. The emotional support is vital to recovery, if recovery is possible, or mutual comfort and grieving with those you love. Why has there been no public statement? If it is true, he will be held in contempt by the American people.

The latest entry in the (bulging) Obama files: “This is the moment . . . that the world is waiting for,” he told House Democrats Tuesday night, per The Washington Post’s Jonathan Weisman. “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.”

This guy is so scary it is unreal. It reminds me of his ephiphany utterings. I have had friends tell me he was just joking. Running for president you don’t joke. he said it twice. In Iowa and New Hampshire. The guy is a loon. Spineless. Flip-flopping wannabe Prez.

Some Democrat with some balls needs to come out against this guy.

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-07-30 17:09:21

No, no, no. He has NOT become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to her best traditions. He’s become a symbol of a MASSIVE FUCK-UP, an idiot who SHOULD have had it all, but who tossed it away trhough avarice, overeagerness, and plain, apparent GREED. A guy with ALL the raw material, the looks, the surface charm, the adorable family, who fucked it up because he wanted everything NOW, FAST, QUICK, ME, ME, ME….and it SHOWS in everything he says and does.

He took too many shortcuts, didn’t want to do the hard work and gain the experience.

He threw too many people under that famous bus.

He associated with n’er-do-wells and thieves.

He made asinine statements like…well, this latest is a damned doozy!

No one likes a Grabby Gus. He could have been President in eight years. Instead, he’s the living, breathing symbol of the utter fracture of the once-unified, once-stalwart Democratic Party.

Heckuvajob, Barackie.

What is with all these so-called “progressive” guys that they can’t see how scary this guy is? Josh Marshall, Markos, Atrios, I thought these guys had SOME judgement.

It is so over for Obama and they just don’t see it.

Look for his mug in five years on the cover of People magazine for there annual “Where Are They Now?” issue.

Alot of people have the potential for greatness. But without integrity and honesty it is worth nothing. People have mistaken greatness with money, power, fancy clothes, what’s fashionable, physical attractivness, what’s cool. No, greatness is the content of our character.

Obama has a head the size of Texas. Obama does not need 300 advisors he need 300 psychiatrists. Moreover, anyone voting for Obama needs to see a psychiatrist — this country is truly going insane.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Did he really say that? What a joke Obama is.

BTW, he didn’t cancel the visit with the troops at the medical center because of no photo ops, it was because Obama is the one that is supposed to be the victim. Being in a medical center would cast that attention away from him. The man is simply incapable of empathy. All attention must be toward him.

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-30 19:47:42

Yes, Mr. X you nailed it. It’s not that he would feel shame or embarrassment, or just uncomfortable around sick people.. he would be jealous of the attention that they get.

WOW we don’t really have a oil or gasoline problem. Barky just said if we would all inflate our tires properly that we would save enough gas that we wouldn’t have a shortage. DANG!!!!! nobody told me I had to put air in the damn things. No wonder my truck don’t steer good, but they are only flat on one side. That barky is a friggin genius type. BLECH

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-07-30 18:40:36

God he’s such a fool. Stop eating and there won’t be a food problem. Turn your heat off and there won’t be a heating problem. Inflate your tires and poof! All fixed. Perhaps he will use his divine powers to fix all these things. Except for the Corn Hoax. He and Daschle stand to make far too much money on that one. What’s a little world starvation when there is so much profit to be had?

Comment by Karma | 2008-07-30 17:53:59

After Obama had his campaign signs up at the Wall and trying to gain political points. He actually criticized the Jewish citizens for not being more respectful at the wall. His hypocrisy knows no limits.

Ugh!

Like all Narcissists given an opportunity for a power trip, he is losing his sense that he is a mere mortal. He will escalate even more. He believes he’s omniscient and can’t be adversely affected now, no matter what he says or does. Nobody can touch him in his mind.

Anybody who has ever known a diagnosed Narcissist knows exactly what I am talking about.

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-30 17:57:10

Indeed. Once Obama finds out he’s not the savior, he will need to be fitted for one of those white morning coats with the sleeves that tie in the back.

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-30 18:54:40

But the point is, he won’t find out that he’s not the savior. We laugh and joke about his arrogance and his silly seal but I think he may very well have NPD. When you listen to him worm out of flip flops or even read the transcipts you see the pattern of twisting and twisting. People like that live in their own reality. The more power he gets, the more dangerous he becomes…if the press are just beginning to wake up to this they will see it in a more harmless way, he’s just cocky, or over confident…no, it’s called mental illness.

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-30 18:58:06

You’re spot on. He is dangerous by any definition.

I’m not an Obama enthusiast. But I followed the link from this article and read Obama’s entire quote and it was taken out of context. His presidential seal was arrogant, but this is not an example of his arrogance. You don’t make your case with arguments like this one. This is the kind of thing which turns me off to NoQuarter and it doesn’t help the argument for Nobama.

Comment by pew | 2008-07-30 18:16:33

Obama seal is still being used on CNN,on some news clips of polls for the Democrats. I thought the seal was supposed to be stopped. So Why is CNN still using it?

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-30 18:20:01

Obama only told his people to stop using it. I’m sure he doesn’t mind if the networks use it. Just more free publicity for him and his adoring minions.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-07-30 18:37:46

The following is a copy of an e-mail I received from my sister-in-law. She is a former military wife (an Army Major’s wife) and still has many contacts within the military family. This was forwarded to her from a friend. Those soldier in Afganistan are no longer waiting, for Obama or for the moment. It sounds to me like they are disgusted.

I copied and pasted so it may come out disjointed, sorry for that.

E-Mail:

Subject: Fwd: From our friend who is serving in Afghanistan

Hi all FYI–for what freedom is worth.

Tiffany and Jeff Porter are our friends who were in our ward when we lived in Provo. They now live in Virginia.
(Below is from Tiffany)

I don’t know each of your personal political

convictions, and appologize if anyone finds this offensive. I thought it was important enough to
share. This is Jeff’s first hand view of Senator
Obama.

Tiffany

———- Forwarded Message ———-

Hello everyone,

As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what happened.
He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing
basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to

Soldiers to

thank them for their service.
So really he was just here to make a showing for the

American’s back

home that he is their candidate for President. I think that

if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you

would thank

those that are providing the freedom that they are

providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players

or the

Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators,

who wants to

be the President of the United States. I just don’t
understand how
anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that

he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I

wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What

you see in the news is all fake.

In service,

CPT Jeffrey S. Porter

Battle Captain

TF Wasatch

American Soldier

Well I for one would like to thank all of our service men and women, whole and wounded, enlisted, non-com, and officer for their absolutely unselfish service to our country. They give up and give far more than we civilians could ever imagine. Having a son and a brother who have served I get first hand glimpses of what they and their families go through. To have a sitting senator ignore them is unconsionable. He is not deserving of the office.
No wait, what I mean to say is that he is a f’in asshole.

The Obamabots are still at it:

Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve.
