Oh you don't want to go there. California has been punished for years for their success in beating the the plans for more offshore drilling there. The gas prices there are higher than any in the country. There are already plenty of oil rigs there already.

There is no need for the drilling because of the existence of plenty of secure, readily available petrochemicals. The world is awash in oil. The issue is not the availability of oil, it is the mechanisms that are being used to determine the price. On availability, read up on Alberta's tar sands (now) or the Bakken play (future). Heck, Petrobras made a discovery off their coast in February that is said to be between Venezuela and Nigeria's reserves.

The oil companies are baiting you because their share of the world's oil is continuing to decline as nations choose to use national companies, such as Statoil in Norway or Petrobras in Brazil.

Al Gore and John Kerry are both good democrats and good Americans. Either one of them would have made a president vastly superior to George W. Bush, and the country would presently be in a far better situation if either one had been elected instead.

McCain won't be just like George W. Bush. McCain isn't the intellectual lightweight and moral flyweight that George W. Bush is. But McCain's and Bush's policies are nearly identical, and McCain's voting record clearly demonstrates that the strong similarity is far from superficial. If you vote for John McCain you'll be voting for policy continuity. Don't let yourself be bullshitted into thinking otherwise.

What you characterize as hopey dopey bullshit is actually a genuine opportunity for change and redirection, coming at a time when America has never more needed it. Some people fear change and redirection. They like to talk about it, but it scares them when they begin to suspect it could actually happen. Those fears are projected on the messenger--on a motivated and motivational guy who's actually nothing more than a means to an end.

You think the enthusiastic support for Barack Obama is entirely about Barack Obama. You're wrong. This isn't about the messenger, it's about the message. And the message isn't about an unbending fixation on any one particular policy point. It's about an entirely new, optimistic outlook, and an entire range of issues, and about the election of a motivator and facilitator who can reach out and work across the divisions that impede progress.

Vote for McCain and things will change, alright. You've just got to be willing to embrace change that's nothing more than the natural progression of all current trends. Generally when you do the same thing you've been doing, you get more of the same results.

If I were supporting Hillary Clinton now, I'd be doing it for exactly the same reasons. And if the primaries had worked out differently, that's exactly what I'd be doing. But I deal with things as they actually exist, not as I wish they were.

Because Californians won't allow it, no way! Hey folks, the California Sea Otter lives in those waters and the coast line is enough to make you cry with its beauty. There are enough nutty Californians who will tie themselves to trees and rocks, that it would be an ugly fight that the pro-drillers would most likely lose. So why go there, when it's easy to convince the southern states to give up their beauty. <- The real question is, what's up with THEM?

Yeah Bill Clinton got a raw deal from the press and his own party. (and Hillary ten times so). I live for the day that the Clintons ride back into town triumphant. Truth always wins in the end, and some day everyone will know what we all know -- both Clintons represent what this country truly is about: smart, resourceful, generous, progressive, and NOT racist.
