Christina Applegate and Hillary Clinton UPDATED
By Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy on August 4, 2008 at 5:00 PM in Bamboozling, Barack Obama, DNC, Democratic National Convention, Democratic Nomination, Health Care, Hillary Clinton, Superdelegates, Universal Health Care, Women
No, they are not related, though Hillary IS related to Angelina Jolie and Madonna. But that’s not the point here. While Obama continues his daily (it seems) flip flopping (”I’ll take money from NASA!” “I’m NOT Taking Money From NASA!” “I’ll Meet John McCain for Town Hall Forums!” “I WON’T Meet John McCain for Town Hall Forums!“), I was reminded again of, how shall I put this charitably, unwise the SuperDelegates are being, along with the DNC, in their desire to foist this untested, arrogant (there I go again being racist!), inexperienced, unqualified, flip flopping, patronizing, liar on us.
But what does this have to do with Christina Applegate and Hillary Clinton?
You can add in there Sheryl Crow, Virginia Clinton, my aunt, my cousin, and a growing number of women: breast cancer. Yes, I saw today that Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Again, what the sam hill does this have to do with Hillary Clinton? Well, a couple of months ago, when Hillary Clinton was on The Ellen Degeneres Show, she said that, if she becomes president, she wants to ERADICATE breast cancer within a decade. A DECADE!!! Ten years, for those of you who may not have had caffeine yet! AND, she wants to fund research to find out what the causes of breast cancer are. Oh, and to fund UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE so women who cannot afford treatment stop DYING. Clinton would do this. She would not flip and flop this way and that trying to appease first one group and then the other. Why? Because she cares about us, the people, the citizens of this country. She is not out to amass more and more power to feed her bottomless pit of an ego. (And yes, I know she’s a politician, and as such, certainly does have an ego, as we all do. But I have never seen her policies to be EGO-driven.) Heck, even her willingness to drop out before the Convention, an UNPRECEDENTED move, speaks to her desire to do what is best for the country and Party, misguided though that decision was, IMHO. I have absolutely NO DOUBT she was strong-armed into it, because honestly, she would do far more good for this country than Obama can ever dream of doing, but she also did not want to be the perceived catalyst for the disunity of the Party, thus losing the White House and an opportunity to change some of Bush’s disastrous policies. She wants to be able to do work in the Senate, if not elected, and that meant, as she was forced out, to be gracious about it. Something else Mr. Ego could learn from her (and he cannot be counted on to change ANY of Bush’s policies, as we have already seen, especially if it will give him more power). But I digress (hey, I’m a Southerner - that’s how we tell stories).
Should the Superdelegates somehow put aside their OWN egos, and clear the path to wisdom, thus voting for Clinton, the following is a glimpse to what we can look forward. Damn, I miss this woman (the part on breast cancer is a few minutes in, but just enjoy watching her!):
Oh, in case you are interested, I lost my aunt to complications from breast cancer. Despite a double mastectomy, her cancer recurred, first in the scar tissue from the mastectomies, then in her bones. My cousin, her daughter, is a survivor. I hope, and pray, that continues to be HER path - surviving the disease that claimed her mother.
But this is not just for those whom I know personally, or stars I like. This is for ALL the women out there - and breast cancer affects a huge number of women a year. If we can get Hillary Clinton into the White House, we will FINALLY have an advocate who cares about OUR health issues, and will work to eradicate this killer.
Get busy, SuperD’s - look at the fiasco the DNC is pushing on us! Choose the GROWN UP already!! Choose the one who CREATES the policies, not steals them!! Choose the one who works for US, the American PEOPLE, not themselves. You might try that, too. For my cousin, for Christina Applegate, Sheryl Crow, the sisters, mothers, aunts, daughters, nieces, and granddaughters - pick the one who cares about US!

Now that is is change we can believe in, need and hope for!
I truly believe Hillary Clinton would find a way to beat breast cancer and much more because she is
HILLARY
AND THAT IS WHAT SHE DOES!
I was very sad when I heard that Christina Applegate has breast cancer she is so very young. Years ago when we heard the word cancer it sounded like death was near but we have come along way but we still have a long way to go and I know that Hillary would have been there for all women.
The key to survival is early detection. Early detection depends on health insurance for reg. mamograms and a quick response with appropriate treatment. The survival rate among white women is much higher than among AAs and Latinas. With Hillary as president, everyone would have equal access to detection and treatment. Does anyone actually believe Obama cares about health issues with respect to women? IMO he has no concern for any woman. He didn’t even bother to visit his own mother when she was dying from ovarian cancer which is another deadly, gender specific cancer. Or for that matter, does he have any interest in providing health care for anyone? The mandate for children will not work if it is not accompanied by universal mandates. Unless Hillary has been able to negociate with him on this issue, I predict, it will be dropped immediately should he be elected
Not intending to minimize the seriousness of Christina’s diagnosis but she is, in fact, 36 years old–a year younger that Aussie pop singer, Kylie Minogue was when she was diagnosed and underwent surgery, and the same age that Susan Komen (for whom one of the nation’s leading breast cancer organizations is name) died. In fact, both Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell’s mothers died of breast cancer before either reached the age of 40 (Madonna’s mother is listed as being only 30 and Rosie’s mother is listed as being 38).
The illness does NOT discriminate on basis of age. A golfer named Heather Farr was diagnosed at the age of just 24 (she died in 1993, at the age of just 28) and the beautiful voice of soul singer Minnie Ripperton was stilled at just 31 after a three-year fight with breast cancer.
Wikipedia has a list of breast cancer survivors and those who died from the illness (as well a list of others who had breast cancer but died from unrelated causes) at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_notable_breast_cancer_patients_according_to_survival_status .
I agree with you Judd and Rev. Amy 100%. Great Post. Why any woman wouldn’t vote for Clinton is beyond me.
I have been bewildered by some women and their reaction to Hillary. It is sad for them, because the most common excuse is because of Bill and blah dee da…
What a lame excuse in my book. These women are not married to the brightest or most compelling male figures in the world, but that never disqualified these women from being my friends.
I mean, would you choose to lock out a wonderful person from your life because you disagreed with or disliked their spouse? That is just closed minded and cruel in my book.
I learned long ago that when it comes to matters of intimate relationships, it is better to be compassionate in our view of how each person handles the ups and downs that they experience with loved ones.
Christina Applegate and all others facing her battle are in my prayers tonight.
We need Hillary NOW!
My family has been touched by breast cancer. For those of you who want to learn more, I recommend:
Living Downstream by Sandra Steingraber
A short review (not mine) follows below:
With this eloquent and impassioned book, biologist and poet Sandra Steingraber shoulders the legacy of Rachel Carson, producing a work about people and land, cancer and the environment, that is as accessible and invaluable as Silent Spring–and potentially as historic.
In her early twenties, Steingraber was afflicted with cancer, a disease that has afflicted other members of her adoptive family. Writing from the twin perspectives of a survivor and a concerned scientist, she traces the high incidence of cancer and the terrifying concentrations of environmental toxins in her native rural Illinois. She goes on to show similar correlation in other communities, such as Boston and Long Island, and throughout the United States, where cancer rates have risen alarmingly since mid-century. At once a deeply moving personal document and a groundbreaking work of scientific detection, Living Downstream will be a touchstone for generations, reminding us of the intimate connection between the health of our bodies and the integrity of our air, land, and water.
“By skillfully weaving a strong personal drama with thorough scientific research, Steingraber tells a compelling story….Well worth reading.”–Washington Post
Thank you for the recomendation, steven. I am going to look for the book. I have had an idea for years my mother’s family lived in toxic contamination due to the many instances of cancer. She had ten siblings. My mother and two sisters died from ovarian cancer and another was diagnosed, treated and survived. Another sister and brother died from colon cancer and another from pancreatic cancer. My mother always believed my grandfather had cancer, but was killed in a car accident before seeing a doctor. I have read Silent Spring several times and the history surrounding Carson’s presentation before the Senate Committee investigating the use of DDT. Her theories were derided by the senators, but finally accepted after a seperated study was done validating her findings.
Dear elise,
Thank you for your response. My home is dominated by the petrochemical industry and my family is partially a product of this environment. The petrochemical industry both giveth and taketh away. Good jobs, but we live downstream. Our families share circumstances. Shalom.
Yours,
Steven
Thank you for this post, Reverend Amy.
Something everyone needs to see.
God, I miss Hillary.
I am both sad and angry with the women who have fooled themselves into voting for Obama. Surely he will never do anything for women’s health or women’s rights. One has only to examine his past voting record to see that.
YES ANI!!! … You are so right. Woman, but not only betray Hillary, but this is not only about woman, man are on same page. Man eagle didnt let them support Hillary. How many times someone was saying “Ihate Hillary, She is liar”, did You did anything to stop this and fight. Did You ever donated 1.00 dollar to Hillary campain, did You donated at all. I did, much more then 1.oo dollar, because I believe in Hillary and in Bill, I never lost my trust and respect to Clintons to be diarespected , trash by someone like Obama and the whole dirty and corrupted DNC. It is so sad, that now, people are waking up. Hillary was waiting for 14 months for Your support, 14 months, were have You been?????
Yes, sad and angry. That says it all.
A wonderful friend of mine was taken by breast cancer several years ago, leaving behind 2 young children and many family and friends in deep shock. Somehow I know she would have supported Hillary.
And if we had listened to Hillary when she first took on Health Care, who knows how many might still be with us today.
How many will not be with us over the next 4 years if we continue with this lunacy?
so sorry about your friend and I agree…
omigosh, Amy. I just posted a moment ago on the last topic with a wish and a prayer that the SDs would do something courageous. Uncanny!
Nice to spend some time with you again today and thinking of what we could be and enjoy as a nation under Senator Clinton’s leadership as our President.
Thank you!
Patti from PA
While Hillary was getting slammed by the media a few months ago, I was working my way through a course of 40 radiation treatments following surgery for breast cancer. In the middle of it, I unexpectedly lost my health insurance. I need Hillary in the White House. We all need Hillary in the White House.
G’ Bless you cappy !!
Thank you for sharing this with us.
I second that!
holding the space… I am sorry about your struggles.
Now You all realise that Hillary is OUR only choice??? Why now, when bad times comes, when health goes down. when loosing insurance, homes, jobs.NOW You wake up, and now Hillary is the “ANGEL” for all of US!!!???, What an IRONY, what a slow thinking. What parents of those Young people, who are blindly supporting lier Obama???, never talk about people like Hillary, told them , great Hillary would be our best President. NO, You let them run away, and blindly-naive fallow someone, who dont give damn about anyone but Himself!!!
Shame on You, You let Hillary down,ho was strip from Her dignity by; DNC,DEAN.PELOSI<REICH<REID and the worst witch is RICHARDSON!!!
Hang in there cappy. Hillary is an inspiration to 80% of all Americans and her fighting spirit most likely inspired your fight.
Hillary is someone we could ALL count on, Women, Children and yes, even you Guys, too! She knows what it’s like to be financially comfortable, but she doesn’t forget where she came from…she cares about the middleclass, and knows they have always been the backbone of our country…she’ll help eliminate poverty, she’ll help make College more affordable. Health care for Everyone! She’s a tireless worker, and wants what’s best for OUR COUNTRY. She would make us proud around the world again, and get our great country back on the right track. We know for certain that the needs of this country would be her priority…she doesn’t want to be Queen, or President of the World…just President of the USA, and that’s exactly what we need right now!
I was watching Princess Obambi on the View today. What a pompous jackass! Always positions himself as sheltered as possible, never taking a tough follow up to a question.
Many months back I happened to watch a youtube video that captured by attention and my heart. I thought at first it should be Hillary’s theme song but quickly realized how naive I’d been. The primary season revealed just how much misogyny is still in our culture. This one should’ve been for the girls.

Hillary ‘08
I love that video…is my very favorite..everytime I watch it, I think of my beautiful grandaughter and how concerned I am of the world she will grow up in…This one should have been for the girls ….I agree…thanks for posting it..
PUMA DEMOCRAT…voting for John McCain..
My #1 question is??? WERE YOU BEEN ALL THOSE TIMES, DOURING PRIMARIES, W E R E???
why now You start talking. Hollywood has so much power, why all those of You didnt defendent Hillary, why You were just listening. No one jump on hollywood stage end loudly talk about Hillary accomplishments. Were have You all been for all those 16 months. No one jump on CNN, MCNBS,Anderson Cooper 360, OPERA!!!Why no ONE from Hollywood jump on Opera and tell Her to”back off from Hillary”, why???, because She has power, money???, were was Ellen DeGenerous, all of You!!!
Those fake sypporters from H-wood, just vanish.
NOW You are screaming, why now, Obama will win, becase all of You like You.You all did, just what Black Community did to Hillary, turn Your back on Her and betray Her, when She needs You !!!Now, to prove that You are trully Hillary Supporter, stop talking behind screen, show Your face and scream You longs OUT, to pull another 18 millions and march to Denver, and fight for HER<US < USA!!!
You want Hillary to fight Her heart for US, then stop acting , talk is cheep, do something!!!
Uh….where the fuck were YOU?
I haven’t seen you around this place but lately.
Which makes me wonder if you don’t have that BAMBI stink under your Clinton perfume.
I was working on her campaign.
You might want to take some of that attitude stifle it, there, Ricky Ricardo–BABALU THIS. Otherwise, I’ll be up your ass with a blowtorch, just like I am with the rest of the trolls.
The people here didn’t “betray” Hillary. They’re still working for her. But then, you just might want to learn to read (and write) before you shoot off your keyboard, and perhaps you’ll see that.
Be constructive, or STFU….that’s SHUT THE FUCK UP, just in case you weren’t clear.
Obama won’t win–unless it’s a prize for being having the largest number of disruptive trolls. If he’s paying you for this rambling bullshit, no wonder he’s losing ground. I’ll bet his donors are starting to get pissed…high end planes, and nitwits like you? Please.
Capisce?
AMEN!!!
No, it isn’t.
Anymore than it is “cruel” to promise to get to the moon and return safely to earth in a decade. It’s a goal. And it is an ACHIEVABLE one.
Don’t you remember the eighties? When people were DYING of AIDS, left and right?
Now, people are LIVING WITH AIDS.
Why? Research. Lots of it. Much of it in…FRANCE.
For the record: Ellen had Hillary on at least once if not twice, and was clearly impressed by her and fond of her. Ted Danson & Mary Steenbergen campaigned all over the country for her as did Sean Astin and America Ferrar (sp?), so there were some people standing up for her. Not enough though–I agree. Where were the strong women like Madonna, who is a Hillary supporter?
Madonna lives in London. Would look back for HIllary having to go “overseas” for a spokesperson.
I miss seeing and hearing Hillary. I also miss hearing President Clinton. Those two are the true democratic party, the rest of them are shit on my heels. I feel sorry for Christina Applegate and wish her all the best in her fight. I am still reeling from this fraudulent nomination and our fraudulent party. I will never forget this. Hillary should be our next POTUS not the fraud they are trying to pull over the line. Obama is the most dangerous candidate to ever run. Why hasn’t the leaders of our party done their job. I believe they are assuming they will attain more power by getting him elected. Women will not have any rights if Obama gets in. He will slowly take away our rights and the rights of all Americans. He is anti-American. America is headed down the same path as Britain, becoming a Muslim nation. That is what Obama is and nothing you can ever say will convince me otherwise. His associations and past and family spell it out so very clearly. Only a moron wouldn’t see that. It is mind boggling how many in Hollywood are supporting him, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Samual L. Jackson, Danny Glover, Jennifer Anniston, Streisand, Jane Fonda, etc, etc. Unbelievable. You know they have just as much if not more access and money to get information than we do. Yet we have found out about this phony candidate and are being silenced by him and the mass news media so he can get in. NO NO NO. Not in my lifetime will I ever vote for Obama or anyone who thinks like him. He is a liar and fraud. There isn’t anything American about him.
Yes, you are right about the traitors. Those who would have a ” word” to stand behind her,all of them (almost) turn around fast and support Obama. Like, Lenny, her Campaign managers and I can say the majority of her close campaign stuff, now , are working for Obama. We, those who are still complaining about the way she was treated, not to many people are listening to us. The only Fox channel( Gretawire) you can express what you are really feeling, the rest, Huffington Post, Politico, they shut you down, if you don’t extol their Idol. That happen to me, because from NH,I was telling everybody, that he is playing the race card. I was complainig about him and his campaign against how unfairly they were accusing the Clintons to be racists. So,they block my comments. If , WE, the little people, who has nothing(money) just the will to support Hillary, can still do something. let us know.
There you go again Rev!
“Get busy, SuperD’s - look at the fiasco the DNC is pushing on us! Choose the GROWN UP already!!”
I am praying that the delegates grow some cajones and do the truly patriotic act of kicking this lying, spineless, chicken to the curb. I am hoping that they will forego the impending embarrassment in November by nominating Hillary and get this freakin’ democratic suicide train derailment back on track for the White House. How anybody can believe that all those honorary PUMAs, heretofore known as, Republicans, are going to let that spineless heap into the White House, I will never know…
Thanks Rev!!!!
There are so many great comments here, and I want to respond to a few of you (ok, all of you, but I don’t want to wear out my welcome!).
I completely agree that women voting against our own interests will be at our expense. We have done this far too long, and it is time for us to look at the BIG PICTURE already. We NEED universal health care so that ALL women will get regular mammagrams, have access to treatment, and will not die because they lack money.
Hey, DT - Thanks, I’m praying they grow some, too. And thanks, WCA!
John, I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. Your story brought a lump to my throat, too. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Cappy, I hate that you have had to go through this, and to lose your health ins. in the midst of it. That kind of emotional/financial upheaval while dealing with such a difficult, and painful, treatment is adding insult to injury, to say the least. I do so hope and pray that you are on the road to recovery…
Grail, I am sorry for the loss of your friend…
Steven - THANK YOU for the great book suggestion.
And thanks y’all for your kind comments regarding my loss. It is much appreciated.
Oh, yes - Hillary Clinton was on the Ellen Degeneres show at least 3 times that I can think of this primary season. And yes, Ellen was very impressed by Hillary. After that 15 yr old boy was killed because he was gay, Ellen said quite clearly that we needed to vote for those people who would support US, and had good policies regarding the LGBT community. She seemed pretty clear that she meant Hillary. And she was right.
The delegates won’t come around because Obama gave more money to them for their campaigns I wonder how they will feel when they come up for reelection and women Vote against them. No matter what happens we need to get rid of those weasels.
we miss you hillary, we are waiting for you, come back :))
It’s actually cruel to promise to eradicate breast cancer in a decade. Scientists and doctors cannot credibly make that promise (even if they had unlimited funding), let alone a politician. The progress of science does not adhere to a fixed time-table.
Let being said, I regard Clinton as far more experienced, and with far superior judgment than Obama. She has substance; Obama is a lightweight. Though as a Republican, I’m happy that Obama won the nomination - he’s easier to beat.
My comment to you is upthread. For some reason it posted in the wrong place.
Look for the response that references going to the moon.
Obama flip-flops, Clinton is great, who gives a shit if he’s not constitutionally allowed to become president. You’re so goddamn sure about it why aren’t you doing more to spread this information? This isn’t the fucking Pelican Brief.
OFFPOST
reposted from ‘politicallly drunk on power’
Important news:
On Friday, Republican congressional members made an impromptu and unprecedented refusal to leave the House floor after Nancy Pelosi abruptly shut down the House of Representatives during another members speech. The action, which did not take place in front of cameras attracted hundreds of tourists, federal employees and others to the House chambers to listen to the passionate exercise in freedom.
Following the events on Friday, House Minority Leader John Boehner (OH) and Whip Roy Blunt (MO) called upon congressional members and specifically Republican congressional members to return to Washington and the halls of congress Monday afternoon to resume their demands for Congress to cancel its vacation and address energy legislation and a long-promised flood-relief bill that Democratic Congressional leaders have blocked for weeks. Our nation is facing growing concerns of stagnation as millions of middle class Americans, such as myself, grow increasingly aggravated by a congress that refuses to address rising energy prices and ignores the most basic legislation such as a Flood-Relief bill that was promised 2 months ago.
A Press release issued yesterday provided the excerpt of a congressional memo issued by Blunt and Boehner on Saturday, “It’s not a request we make lightly. But the American people are suffering. The consequences of continued congressional inaction on gas prices are unacceptable. We’ve called on the Speaker to call Congress back into an emergency session this month and schedule a vote on the American Energy Act. We must continue to make a stand until the Speaker complies.” Boehner continued by pushing congressional republicans to continue to spread the “All Of The Above” initiative demanded by both congressional Republicans and a growing number of Democrats.
Spread the word, provide words of encouragement to these leaders and participate in our “Cancel Congress’ Vacation” initiative today.
I have to admit that reading this brought a lump to my throat and then some tears. Our family lost a wonderful 28-year old “girl” to breast cancer. She was my niece so to me she was always the little girl. And she was so brave for all of us throughout the ordeal - smiling through her pain at the end, trying to spare us any pain over her suffering. When Hillary speaks about this- it is not just an “issue” - you can feel her heart talking. There is no political calculating about it. She and Bill have always been about “what can we do to help others”.
oh my goodness, so sorry and thank you for sharing. This is an example that no one is exempt from getting this. I had no idea someone that young could get breast cancer. Dr’s always say it’s most likely after the age of 40.
OH, John. I wish to ease your and your family pain for the lose of that young life. Unfortunetly, only thing I can do, to shear a tear with you, hoping soon, no other young live will be wasted.
shame on the dnc…….shame
on barack obama…..shame we don’t have a winner like hillary…….shame breast cancer is rampant today and affecting so many young lives……will they ever concede how wrong they are?
Reverend Amy, sorry to hear of your loss, I have lost close family members but not to breat cancer. My heart goes out to those families that have. Talking about what Hillary would do to advance the issue of women’s health makes me so angry that DNC thinks we will just Fall In Line, they don’t care about our issues or our votes…It our time now to fight for Hillary, when she’s elected President she will fight for us…next time around we will shut the SuperD’s out, they won’t have a say until then they should all be held accountable for going against the WILL OF THE PEOPLE..God Bless
Amen sista…what’s that song “sista’s are doin’ it for themselves”. Women are finally in a postion where we have put cracks in that glass ceiling as Hillary put it. Men need to find out that women are not just a bunch of whiny, nagging bitches. That we don’t have to have a man to be a whole person. That we are just as important as anyone else. And we’re not going to the back of the line anymore. Let’s do it!!
Men aleady KNOW that women can run the country. Which is exactly why they had to attack Hillary
so much in a personal way in the primaries. What disturbs me the most is why women fell for it.
>>> Men aleady KNOW that women can run the country.
Absolutely. In fact, were I not fearful of being labelled as Patriarchially Patronizing, I would propose a WOMEN ONLY election one cycle.
Anyone can run, but only women get to vote.
As Fred Reed says, “Without men, Civilization would last until the oil needs changing.”
Last week a young woman in a boiler suit changed the oil in my Jeep and lubed the chassis, even asking if I wanted the Transfer Case oil changed.
It’s probably time.
A message to our electd officials, the manipulators in the dNC and to each and every Superdelagate and to my Governor and the Mayor of Philadelphia:
For the first time in my adult life, I can actually say that I am really scared to death of my Country.
~ Just a nobody with but one vote to cast.
I’ve never personally been touched by this disease or know anyone who has. But my thoughts and prayers to those who have.
Mammograms and pap tests are essential in helping to fight this disease. Many women have no health insurance. I don’t know what out of pocket costs would be. We only need to get these once a year. If nothing else, cut back a little on some non-essentials and put $10-20 a month aside to pay for these screenings. Find a family Dr. that will reduce the cost for you or charges on a sliding scale. Don’t put it off. Breast cancer does not run in my family but I have that mammogram once a year anyway. It’s worth it.
I was so sad when I read about Christina Applegate yesterday…and sad for all women..that any woman must endure this disease..39 years “after” we landed on the moon…and after we had a space landing on Mars..
My mom always said ( she is gone now) that there will never be a cure as long as there is so much money involved..and until we have a woman president…she was right…
39 years since we landed on the moon..think about that..and yet we still have women dying of breast cancer.
There are no excuses..
My family got to meet one of the Moon walkers..Jim Irwin..he stood out on a cold, clear full moon night.. in Vail Colorado and took my son and pointed up to the Moon…and said….”been there, done that”..( the first time i ever heard that saying..and i still remember it like yesterday as i thought ..how many people can point to the moon and say that..not many) Jim is now passed on….
I just wonder..when will we as women be able to say..been there and cured that??????? and why are we still waiting for a cure…i will go with my mom’s assessment..too much money involved and women don’t run the country!
I still can not be convinced that we could land on the moon and yet not have a cure for Breast Cancer.
How many women will be lost just this year..
it’s criminal.
I don’t mean to be unkind when I say this but my sister is a Registered Nurse. She said when they find another incurable disease, they’ll find a cure for cancer. It’s about MONEY. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s also about women not being considered as good as men in society. That’s a fact.
I met Hillary in l996 during her husband’s campaign and I went to 2 town hall meetings this year in my state and I had a chance to talk with her. I listen to many of her speeches and question and answer sessions on C-Span. If everyone would have just listen to her she would have been President. What a great American. I believe she would have done everything that she said she would do.
My mother had a masectomy before I was born. Breast cancer is striking women in various age groups, and presenting in a variety of pathologies. I have confidence that Hillary, whether she receives the nomination that she so richly deserves or not, will take her fight to cure breast cancer to the Senate floor, and we will need to stand up and lobby our Legislators in both Houses to back her up.
I think I can safely say that when Pampers hears the word “breasts” that cancer and universal healthcare are the last things that pop into his head. Superdelegates, we need a president, not a flipflopping, lying panderer thug. Do the right think and elect Senator Clinton as the Democratic Party’s nominee in Denver.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Christina, her family and friends, and to all of those suffering from breast cancer.
When you point out that “listening” to Hillary Clinton speaking is all it takes, I could not agree more. I didn’t find myself supporting her because I agreed with every issue - although damn she is right most of the time. It was not because she represented some political “bloc” that I belonged to. It was her intelligence, her sincerity (I know many can fake this but my bullshit antennae is good, she is not a fake), her humanity, her willingness to put it all on the line, and the fight in her. She did not change her tune when times got rough in the primaries, she did not start flip-flopping all over the place. She stood her ground. She is one of the few people in American politics that I can say I admire without being embarassed later.
It breaks my heart that so many women- young women, black women- voted against their own self-interests and supported Obama. I will never understand. Never.
We can take comfort that Hillary keeps on fighting for us, for our families. She always will. She is a true leader.
Good luck getting the grownup in. This country is into American Idol and its sexism is much closer to the surface than I ever thought. No, in the end, they’ll reject Obama, but Hillary would have to be so far above the hoi polloi. She’s capable of that, but you know how mean the machinery is. Unfortunately, the strongest, most aware person is Hillary, in all spheres. Someone has to kneecap the misogyny out here.
I remember when Virginia Kelley died ( Bill’s mother)b/c it was just a few days after my birthday. I felt so bad b/c I know he adored his mother yet happy that she was there to see him become President.
I bet her heart would be broken, too if she knew how Hillary was treated.
I live in NH and “Unity” is just a town, nothing more. There is no unity in NH or the other 49 states. And I will never vote for the guy that think we have 57 states.
This evening Rachel Maddow couldn’t have been more
insulting, on MSNBC, when asked to comment on
why Geraldine Ferraro”s statement that Hillary should
be offered the VP position, (paraphrase). Her take
is that she just doesn’t see WHY it has to be Hillary
Clinton, WHY is she the ONLY woman who can satisfy
the “feminists”, again that the gist of it!
I hope that Larry can post the clip from Race for
the White House. The woman is such so in the TANK I’m
suprised that she doesn’t appear with “scuba gear”!
Pat Buchanan tried to give her valid reasons why it
would make sense for OB to give Sen. Clinton over
any othet woman consideration but, she kept at it.
Does she really think that Hillary ONLY got nearly 18M votes from feminists? Outrageous!
My mom is a breast cancer survivor. My aunt, her
sister is currently fighting her fight with the
dred disease. I recall the sense of conviction, that
I felt from Hillary on this issue, as with so many issues on which she has spoken. We can’t say that about OB!
This illness is affecting younger women. Higher
percentages of minority women are going undetected
and, when finally, their cancers are found they are at “later” stages. Lack of information, fear and health insurance all play a part in this tragedy.
Even as I write this I feel a deep sense of loss for
all of us who care about this issue. Our so-called
Democratic leaders are silent on this, or am I
mistaken? Has anyone joined Hillary in this cause?
Whoever is elected they need to be pressed on this
issue.
Hillary is the BEST!
you still watch msnBO? i stopped watching it months ago. aside from the blatant sexism and bo worship making me ill, i wouldn’t give that station any viewership. i would love to see it tank.
Hillary Is “Charlie Brown”!
You want to know the exact moment I realized that Hillary Clinton was Charlie Brown? It was that moment in New Hampshire when asked what keeps her going.
It was the look inside the soul of “The Real Deal”.
I suddenly realized that I loved her for all the reasons I have loved Charlie Brown over the years.
No matter what’s done to Charlie Brown, he never gives up. How many times is he laughed at, has he had the football pulled out at the last second of his attempted kick, has his kite fouled up in the tree?
But there he was the very next day, ready to have a fresh go at what ever frustrated him the day before.
Why did millions of us love Charlie Brown? Because he gave us hope! His youthful innocences to overcome any indignity and have a fresh go at whatever he wished to accomplish.
I always wondered what would happen if there ever came a time when Charlie Brown didn’t go to the garage and take the kite out that one more time. And then one day I found out. The very next day, his creator died.
Hillary, you are the real one that we have been waiting for. You inspire us because of the way you have shouldered the pain and responsibility all these years.
During the Primaries you took a beating across the networks every night. But the next morning, there you were, with a smile and can do attitude.
Can we do less?
One more time! On to Denver! String the kite, tee up the Football, Charlie Brown is not ready to go quietly into that dark night. Hillary isn’t dead! It’s the DNC that is in triage.
There are a lot of grains of sand on the beach and drops in the ocean, but some of them sparkle. Charlie and Hillary are two such specks in this cold universe. It’s our job to make the “super delegates” see it.
H.Dean and his wife, both are medical doctors. She maybe a good doctor. but him? I think he would be the last doctor in the earth I would go to.He is a despicable human specimen.
