Obama Losing Steadily to McCain On Issues of “Trust”

Voters’ Trust for McCain on Key Issues Growing,” Rasmussen Reports:

John McCain is now trusted more than Barack Obama on nine out of 14 electoral issues tracked by Rasmussen Reports. The latest national telephone surveys find that McCain has the biggest advantage on the war in Iraq, by a 51% to 39% margin.

Perhaps the most interesting finding of these polls is that McCain has expanded his leads on nearly every issue he had previously had the advantage on, while Obama’s leads have diminished over the past two weeks. …

One of the maxims that every wise person I’ve ever known has always lived by is never do anything to LOSE people’s trust. Once it’s lost, it’s extremely difficult to win it back:

This is troubling. I hope the Superdelegates are paying close attention. We need their COURAGE to make this right, before it’s too late.

In the new survey, McCain has tripled his lead on the topic of immigration. He now has a 45% to 36% advantage over his Democratic opponent, up from a three-point lead two weeks ago.

The Republican also has pulled ahead on the issue of balancing the federal budget. Two weeks ago, the candidates were tied on this issue at 40%. McCain now has a 43% to 40% lead on the issue among voters.

McCain used to be behind on the issue of Social Security but has pulled ahead of Obama for a 44% to 38% lead.

On issues that Obama has previously enjoyed huge advantages, such as health care and education, his leads have decreased. On health care, Obama leads 46% to 41%, down from a 12 percentage-point lead just two weeks ago. On education, Obama leads 43% to 39%, down from a 10-point lead two weeks ago. On environmental issues, Obama’s advantage over McCain has gone from 14 percentage points down to eight this week.

The economy is the top issue for the majority of voters this election season. Voters have consistently trusted the Democratic Party more on this issue, but the two presidential candidates are tied at 45% as to who voters trust more. A week prior, Obama had a statistically insignificant one percentage point lead on the issue.

On national security, an issue that McCain consistently performs well on, the Republican leads 52% to 40%. His lead represents an improvement from the eight-point lead he held the week before.

A poll released this week finds that over half of voters support Obama’s proposal to provide working families with energy credits but aren’t sure about his idea of taxing big oil companies. When asked who voters trust more when it comes to energy issues, voters choose McCain by a 46% to 42% margin.

Superdelegates, please. We implore you. Do something about this. Please nominate an EXPERIENCED candidate who can match McCain point for point on the issues.

The McCain campaign needs to educate the electorate on what BHO did for Chicago’s schools. $100 million down the drain and nothing happened.

Also BO sure helped his South Side constituents with the low-income housing he and crony Rezko provided. How many millions in taxpayer dollars were spent for buildings that are now board up and in foreclosure? Not to mention the little boy who was killed in Cabrini-Green when an iron gate fell on him. This project was built and “maintained” by the son of former Obama employer Allison Davis.

I heard $100 million. Curious to hear about Obama’s solution to the housing crisis?

It is difficult to trust someone when they will lie, cheat and do whatever is necessary to win. And, on top of all of this, they window dress all of this as “Change.” The mafia is more trustworthy and has more integrity than his campaign has shown.

Our youth needs to learn ethics and integrity. Obama is teaching them deception, hatred, racism, sexism and ageism.

He is not a good role model.

I don’t agree with McCain on many issues, but I do have to agree on the whole “trust” business. I think McCain’s an honest broker, I don’t think he’d bullshit, bamboozle or hoodwink us.

I don’t trust Obama, and his staff and their vicious, nasty machinations haven’t helped that impression one bit. The guy comes off as a blowhard, a braggart, and a liar.

Comment by Susan | 2008-08-07 10:40:59

Not to mention that when I think about the economy and I think about how Obama talks about his plans, yet is able to spend money on the stupid presidential seals, having his plane painted in an egomaniacla, unnecessary manner and all the ways he spends way too much money on himself and his image, I see someone who loves to spend money without caring about results. That is how it looks to me and I certainly don’t need a president who wants to waste my hard earned money!

When Obama supporters went on about McCain’s $500 shoes, I remembered Michelle Obama wearing Jimmy Choo boots while campaigning in Iowa. The retail on the cheapest of those is $1200.

Obama likes to compare himself to Abe Licoln, but one thing’s for sure. His wife likes to shop like Mary Todd.

Good point, and I think that in the final analysis, this is why McCain will win. I look at a candidate’s position on issues and they’re an important part of my decision as to who I will vote for. BUT of significantly more importance to me is my evaluation of a candidate’s toughness and core character. There are several issues on which McCain and I disagre (although to be honest, I agree with him on more issues than I disagree with him on). But I think that the guy is tough, resilient, and honest. Barack Obama is soft, shifty, and dishonest. My strong expectation is that most voters will come to the same conclusion on Nov. 4th.

Comment by Susan | 2008-08-07 11:32:23

I also see how getting nominated went to his head and so what would he be like if he actaully won???? I shudder to think about it. I have had this conversation with many dems. Most do not want this guy to be our country’s leader!

Comment by Elle | 2008-08-07 19:40:34

Except I think Obama is hard, shifty and dishonest, because only a hard person could do to Hillary and Bill, and have others do that for him also, throughout the primary.

For a long time, I thought I was the only one who’s refused to be seduced by this snake oil salesman, Obama (some refer to him as Booker T. Obama - an apt name for him, in my opinion), but after reading this article and comments on Black Agenda Report, I know now there are other blacks like me who’ve refused to drink that kool aid.

Check out the link below, and be pleasantly surprised: http://www.blackagendareport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=735&Itemid=1

I agree…they have great articles there.

When looking at Chicago, I don’t think Obama will seriously address any group’s needs.

He will only use them as bait/excuse for the funding but the money/programs will never get to the people who need it.

It IS good to know that kool-aid isn’t working on everyone. That is what brought me here. ;)

here we go!

some Billy Joel
A Matter of Trust

A one a two a one two three four…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx53c_6h-W4

Some love is just a lie of the heart
The cold remains of what began with a passionate start
And they may not want it to end
But it will, it’s just a question of when
I’ve lived long enough to have learned
The closer you get to the fire the more you get burned
But that won’t happen to us
‘Cause it’s always been a matter of trust

I know you’re an emotional girl
It took a lot for you to not lose your faith in this world
I can’t offer you proof
But you’re gonna face a moment of truth
It’s hard when you’re always afraid
You just recover when another belief is betrayed
So break my heart if you must
It’s a matter of trust

You can’t go the distance
With too much resistance
I know you have doubts
But for God’s sake don’t shut me out

This time you’ve got nothing to lose
You can take it, you can leave it, whatever you choose
I won’t hold back anything
And I’ll walk away a fool or a king
Some love is just a lie of the mind
It’s make believe until it’s only a matter of time
And some might have learned to adjust
But then it never was a matter of trust

(INSTRUMENTAL INTERLUDE)

I’m sure you’re aware love,
We’ve both had our share of believing too long
When the whole situation was wrong

Some love is just a lie of the soul
A constant battle for the ultimate state of control
After you’ve heard lie upon lie
There can hardly be a question of why
Some love is just a lie of the heart
The cold remains of what began with a passionate start
But that can’t happen to us
‘Cause it’s always been a matter of trust

It’s a matter of trust
It’s always been a matter of trust
It’s a matter of trust

I’ve been saying all along that as time went on, the public’s initial fascination with The Annointed One began to fade, and they started to take a serious, objective look at who Barack Obama really is and what he represents, John McCain would start to look better and better. That’s exactly what is happening.

Straight from NewsMax

Though deep in debt, Hillary quickly fulfilled her promise. But cash-rich Obama has yet to cough up the dough from his backers.

“Hillary has done her part in that regard,” a Hillary adviser told Time. “Obama has not.”

Then there was the warm and fuzzy call between Bill Clinton and Obama. Obama told Clinton he wanted to sit down with the popular former president, the most successful Democratic president since FDR. But Clinton aides say Obama has never folowed up on the verbal invitation.

These and other details on the deteriorating Clinton-Obama relationship are laid out in a Time magazine report.

Bill Clinton’s comments to ABC News are symptomatic of his and Hillary’s icy relationship with Obama. Asked during his trip to Africa if Obama was qualified to be president, Clinton stubbornly refused to answer affirmatively.

A Hillary adviser told TIme, “It’s not a great relationship, and it’s probably not going to become one.”

Reportedly, Hillary seriously doubts that Obama can beat McCain come November. And she is thinking of keeping her name in nomination and demand a vote at the party’s Denver Convention.

Hillary wants to remind voters and the media that she was the alternative to Obama, a important point that

could be brought home on Election Day.

Obama Welshes on Hillary Promise

Hillary and Bill Clinton are privately fuming about the second-class treatment they have received from Democratic presumptive nominee Barack Obama.

When Obama and Hillary “kissed” and made up during their unity rally in June, both made a private pledge to each other to help raise $500,000 from their donors for the other’s campaign.

Well of course he is and look at the CBS poll and you see the final nail his support soft 27 percent still may change and women (17) still have not moved to him and IMO won’t.

Democrats to me appear to be TONE Deaf, they are creating the mis trust of what their real agenda, lofty words might, but deeds say other wise..

From Time:
Democrats worry: Obama is being “too soft” in his response to McCain’s latest attacks, hasn’t hit back “with a parallel assault on McCain’s character.”

Please tell me on what planet, what universe Dems believe, the repulsive swift boating of respected some beloved Politicians like the Clinton’s and McCain who actually have deeds a record that prove they have lead lives of racial inclusion ….AND THAT SOMEHOW IN DEMS MIND IS NOT A NEGATIVE ATTACK in their clumsy quest to build an integrated electorate…………………..read Clarence Page to get a clue if you don’t understand the CODE, the Racist label it’s to many in the white community what the N word is to the AA community he writes and that’s TRUE, and Axelrod needs to put a sock in it he may not need whites but my District candidate dose need the white vote which for her are majority in this District and she’s tanking right now……

The growing understanding as Hansen writes that in reference to the pending Democratic nominee…

…Without evidence, he unwisely has claimed his opponents (”they”) will play the race card against poor him.
…. But it is quite another when the sermonizer himself too easily evokes race, weekly changes his mind and often sounds like he doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.”…

And is no one at the DNC aware that modesty is still considered a virtue and that gratuitous displays of your perceived grandiosity won’t play well, before the DNC put the deposit football filed

IMO it’s over, this stuff is just rookie stuff they can’t help themselves and win with this stick they don’t even get it…but my fear now is losing Congress that I don’t want I prefer for now Democrats managing the country but are they blowing this.

McCain , has focused on Oil, the reason why its the ripple effect of the economy, high oil, fuels inflation, from electricy, gas to food, getting it to the people, and with the high prices of oil, it has slowed the economy , on what people can spend money, not only do we have credit issues with the housing, market. But instead of the Democrats focusing on the issue of high gas prices they have showed little , on how the people will continue to provide from getting to work , to high food prices. McCain relizes that connecting the economy to the high gas prices, he is gaining ground on doing what will ease the pain of inflation and high fuel prices: he will connect the fact President Bush removing the off drilling moretorium , has bought down the price of oil , because the market is fuel by the futures, of increased drilling, and those who say it will do little are wrong, it will bring down the price of oil, it has already gone down almost 30 dollars per barrel , since Bush did. The Republicans were late to recognizing what was happening and so were the democrats but , the republicans are the ones attempting to combat the issue. Obama , is showing what he knows best, very little and a saavy to not answer the questions…NObama I own my vote

Do The Math! The Cost Of Obama’s Proposed $1,000 Per Family From Windfall Profits Tax!
I am all for sound energy policy and will admit that government entitlements are always appealing at first glance. That is, until you realize the costs of those policies. Over the past three days Senator Obama has taken pandering to a new level, offering what I consider to be a ‘bribe’ by telling American families that his Windfall Profits Tax would be used to provide a $1,000 per family rebate. Despite the historical failure of such policies, somehow they continue to draw appeal from those who don’t care about the cost such programs.

So how much would Obama’s $1,000 per family cost the oil companies??

Consider this, according to the Obama Campaigns statistics regarding his proposed working family tax credit, the credit would affect around 150 million US workers or about 80 million families. As such, you can assume that his $1,000 per family or $500 per individual “Energy Rebate” would also affect the same 150 million workers. So now lets do the math (in terms even Obamabots can understand):

A $1 rebate would cost $150 million
A $10 rebate would cost $1.5 Billion
A $100 Rebate Would Cost $15 Billion
A $500 REBATE WOULD COST $75 BILLION

Now, according to Obama this rebate would be provided through his, Pelosi, and Reid’s Windfall Profits Tax. Sound Great, Right?

How Much Did Oil Companies Make in 2007?

Consolidated Net Profits Of Big 5: $120 Billion

Hmm…Now you’re may have to get a calculator out to figure the exact percentage, but how exactly is Obama going to pay for his $75 Billion Rebate??

This is just the incentive oil companies need??

So Which One Is It? Do we impose a 62.5% tax on Oil company profits, in which Institutional and individual investors dump the stocks; relegate them to penny status; bankrupt the industry; and cause an insta-depression? Or… Does the government pick up the tab, causing a record budget deficit to balloon further and destroying the promises of government investments in alternative energy?

Either way, this is what occurs when pandering trumps sensibility.

Comment by Al from NJ | 2008-08-08 06:11:39

On August 4th, Hannity and Colmes on Fox introduced a new book written by a Dr Geronme Corsi,
“The Obama Nation”.

The author discusses the real Obama. He discusses Obama’s relationships with Ayres, Wright, Olynsky and Axelrod.

Corsi discusses Obama attending the “Million Man March” and his anti military views.

Also mentioned are Obama’s roots. Corsi states that Obama is not honest about his father. He discusses relationships Obama had with radical characters: Frank Marshall Davis, Malcom X, James Cone, Odingo and Father Plaeger.

Black Liberation Theology with it’s belief that Jesus was a black man is also of concern to the author.

700 footnotes back up his book.

Mention of another book by David Fredossa “The Case Against Barack Obama” is to be discussed on August 4th.

Please investigate and research this man. He is risky and radical and has no business running for President of the US.
