I’ve long wanted to post about Charlie and his mother’s site, but have feared that the ‘bots would attack them. It’s time to chance it:
Charlie’s mom is a young woman who lives in the wilds of Wyoming. After his coyote parents were shot to death, little Charlie was brought to her to raise. Charlie sleeps with his mom, her cat, and now a dog.
She supports his care with a daily newsletter, calendar, prints and t-shirts, and a soon-to-be-published book. Subscribing is easy and very inexpensive. It was a birthday gift to me from my daughter.
It is highly unusual for her to publish a photo like the one above. Almost all of her photographs are of Charlie. Here’s one, when Charlie was a baby:
No matter what is going on in my life, I look forward to opening the daily notes from Charlie’s mom and the photo of Charlie — some funny, some cute, some poignant, some soulful, and always heartfelt and beautiful.
It is a crime that coyotes are routinely shot on sight. They are remarkable creatures. I pray that Charlie has a long life with his mom, who loves him dearly.
