I always understood that HRC was not the keynote speaker at the convention, albeit an important presence. But maybe my understanding derives from this fact: I know that the word “keynote” is used with respect to speaking at the convention not merely as a general descriptor but as a term of art (meaning, a word that has a specific use or meaning in the particular subject area in which it is used).
