Sorry, I simply cannot do that...to quote Jeremiah "Goddamn" Wright...no, no, no, no NO! Bob Barr? That guy is a self-loathing brother in the closet, and he's to the right of Attila the Hun.

He makes John McCain look like John Lennon--and that's not easily done.

Clinton's the one. If not her, McKinney, if the pandering and prevarication on national defense issues is your thing, or McCain, if you're concerned about national security issues.

We'll just have to wait four more years. Oh, well. It'll be interesting to see Congress forced to work for a change.

Calling whatever that was with Rick Warren at Saddleback Church a "debate" is odd. That thing was NOT a debate. As best as I recall there was one debate between Hillary & Obama & after that lovefests. That thing that took place at Saddleback was 2 interviews to try & hussle up more taxpayer billions for Rick Warren's African ministry & get more tax breaks for people who adopt 3rd world kids. All the rest was a smokescreen. Obama praising GWB sending billions to Africa for AIDS relief & McCain saying everyone in America is rich compared to the rest of the world. Get ready, no matter which of those 2 gets elected you can wave goodbye to billions more leaving the country & millions more uneducated teaming masses moving in to get on the dole. Bob Barr is looking better everyday.

"Obama and his minions..."

As if it were all about Obama.

Believe me, it's about a lot more than that.

Nobody is suggesting that Obama is the perfect candidate. I happen to think Clinton would have been better, but Clinton isn't what I've got. I think Obama is at least promising, and has the potential to become an effective instrument of positive change, in spite of some apparent flaws. He is young. He does lack experience. But he's got obvious talent. He'll get older and he'll grow. He'll listen to council. I believe he sincerely wants to be good. All of my experience and instinct tells me his heart is in the right place.

McCain, though, shows clear signs of being serious trouble. Unfortunately, people who aren't sharing my optimism about Obama's potential don't seem to be looking closely at John McCain, and don't seem to want to look.

Yes, after what George W. Bush has done, that truly does scare me.

Four more years on our present course could end in total disaster. Four years of a congressional/presidential stale-mate isn't going to turn that course. We would only muddle along in the same direction. I'm scared of where that present course seems to be headed.

So yeah, there is a certain fear factor involved.

So Obama believes wisdom in the presidency will come from his Grandmother and his wife. Well is that a very diverse group of worldly schooled people? This is the same candidate who threw his grandmother under the bus for Rev Wright in his Race speech, before he threw Rev Wright and his church under the bus for his candidacy in the middle of his campaign.
Remember you can't judge a book by its cover, and in this case Obama's cover is as glamorous as it gets, but what's inside that cover is very telling for those who wish to read carefully.

ziggy,
You and Obama's campaign are scared. Lasker must have racked the Obama trolls over the coals because you have failed at changing minds on the blogs. You sound desperate.

You don't have to disregard anything but you should acknowledge that Obama is disingenuous. At least McCain is clear about his positions.

Obama and his minions attempt to present him as an outsider who is pure. He is anything but pure.

McCain may not be perfect but I'm starting to believe based on the flip-flopping of Obama that he is either a pathological liar or evil.

"They pulled their site shortly after McCain became the likely 2008 candidate..."

Sorry about the typo.

Something else they did, btw: They disabled the internal search on the PNAC website before pulling the site down, so the internal SEARCH no longer works within the archived pages. Try looking up "McCain" and see what happens.

Really? Can you deny that John McCain is following the Project for a New American Century's radical geopolitical agenda to the letter--exactly like George W. Bush? Have you ever read their agendas regarding Iraq, Iran, the Middle East as a whole, the Balkans, NATO, etc? They pulled their site shortly after McCain because the likely 2008 candidate, but you can still find all of that stuff on Wayback, and a lengthy discussion of PNAC on Wikipedia.

http://web.archive.org/web/20051231023146/http://www.newamericancentury.org/

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.newamericancentury.org

What am I to make of the fact that McCain was president of their parent organization, that most of McCain's current advisors are PNAC people, or that his response to the Georgia situation is in total allignment with their agenda?

Should I totally disregard what all of this seems to add up to?

Seriously. I'm asking you, one American to another. Is it safe to ignore all of this? To just pretend it isn't there, or pretend it doesn't matter?

All I want is for people to think about it.

Obama has as his advisors all Washington insiders. Obama is part of the Chicago Political Machine, one of the most corrupt political organizations in the world.

Attempting to paint Obama as an outsider and an outright misrepresentation of the facts.

ziggy, you point the finger at others about being emotional and not presenting facts, but your comments are empty and contain zero nutrition.

My point is that facts matter. Policy matters. Voting record matters. (All of it, not just a few votes you like or dislike.) Plugging actual numbers into tax proposals and comparing the numbers matters. Long-term associations with radically militant neoconservative organizations matter. Talking tough to a nuclear power because they've reacted against the intrusions of that same organization into their own back yard matters.

That you dislike one guy for vague emotional reasons, and feel emotionally reassured by the fact that the other guy can play all the traditional republican campaign tunes like a virtuoso after 26 years of practice is nothing to base a vote on.

That was my point.
