Wonder when OB will look to go back on Ellen's show after he demonstrated what a "balless wonder" he is, on the very day she got married!
Of course, he could have had a staff person call
and offer a W.O.R.M. statement.

Where were you when everybody "jumped" on WJC
for his comment about Barack's "fairy tale"
with regard to the Iraq war?
Why don't you hit the airwaves at FoxNews NOW? There's still time to put his actions in proper relation to reality...cause based on his "words" at Saddleback...he doesn't.

They're probably stealing John F. Kennedy's resume. Or mixing them up, but you can thank Obama himself for not bothering to correct that assumption/mistake and for fostering the whole "I am John Kennedy" crap.

Ted - You're damx right all of his backtracking took place at the time of the Democratic Convention!!! DUH? Who DOESN'T know that...especially on this site. Sadly, YOU are the one who is missing the point entirely. Obama said last night, essentially, that he was proud of himself because he stood up AGAINST the status quo and voted his CONSCIENCE and how difficult and daring that was for him.Everyone knows that the cornerstone of Obama's entire Presidential campaign is based upon this BOGUS claim (i.e. FAIRY TALE)that he "voted" against the Iraq war. Yet, you are saying that when the Convention came around and Obama did a complete 180 on this stance, we are all supposed to "understand" that he did this to support the team. Bullshix. Obama is staking his ENTIRE candidacy on the fact that he (supposedly) has the INTEGRITY to stand up against all odds and vote for what's RIGHT. If that is so, then he should have been able to stay true to his belief with a few measley reporters. He did not. Obama backed away from his anti-war stance because that stance did not serve the OBAMA MISSION at that point in time.PERIOD and OBAMA serves OBAMA...PERIOD.

WRONG.

The war was incited by our persistent efforts to hem Russia in by turning former Soviet-block nations all along Russia's homeland borders into NATO-member military states.

And by our efforts to put an anti-ballistic missile system directly on the Russian border.

And by a paid and registered Republic of Georgia agent and lobbiest, who just happens to be a PNAC member, president of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, and John McCain's top foreign policy advisor.

And by the Georgians themselves, who launched a full-scale military incursion into South Ossetia, killing 2,000 Ossetians the Russians had a UN mandate to protect, killing offical Russian peacekeepers stationed there in the process.

The Russians retalliated the following day. They were understandably pissed. They had understandably had quite enough. They know we're up to the same shit in Ukraine. A reasonable person might argue that the Russian overreaction was planned and purposeful. And a reasonable person would be absolutely correct.

I don't like John McCain's games or the long-term intentions of the people he represents.

I'm a peace-loving, patriotic American war veteran, and I approve of this message.

The following answer blew me away--what world is he on?

I GUESS THE OTHER EXAMPLE FROM -- I'M NOT SURE THIS WAS A MORE OF A PARTISAN ISSUE, BUT IT WAS SOMETHING
THAT I FELT VERY DEEPLY WAS WHEN I OPPOSED THE INITIAL DECISION TO GO INTO WAR IN IRAQ. THAT WAS A NOT A POPULAR VIEW AT THE TIME AND I WAS JUST STARTING MY CAMPAIGN FOR THE UNITED STATES SENATE AND I THINK THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO ADVISED ME, YOU SHOULD BE CAUTIOUS. THIS IS GOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL.
(From transcript, Pg. 8, per commenter in above post; my emphasis)

Obama was running for the US Senate in early Fall of 2002? Had he announced? I believe he was running for reelection to the IL senate--but when did he announce his decision to run for the US Senate?? Of course, in his internal planning, he was actually running for the US Senate when he entered politics, iirc.

Also, as is well known, his IL senate district was a very liberal, highly antiwar area. IIRC, he was actually critiqued locally as being a bit on the too conservative side of the argument (not this war, but other wars OK, etc.; made a big deal of not being antiwar).

I found an article which says he decided to run for the US Senate in 2003, no precise date.

So, was Obama confused? Or just confusing private goals with his state senate campaign?

annie
He began his entire candidacy based on some speech he gave in 2002 saying he was against the war. Again, just words and no one of any importance during that time even knew about him or this speech. Joe Wilson, a Clinton supporter and the man who courageously wrote the NYT editorial refuting Bush's uranium from Niger claim stated that at that time there were very few media or politicians going up against Bush and since he was one of them he would certainly have heard if BO was on the scene. This guy is a PHONY, from the beginning. When he did get in the Senate he voted to keep funding the war, what a joke. "It's only words and words are all I have to take this nomination."

Let's see, what happened in mid-July 0f 2004? Why the Democratic National Convention. At which Obama gave a speech. How did the Democratic nominee (Kerry) vote on the Iraq war resolution? In favor of it. So it is clear to any person with half a brain that Obama as using the intelligence reports as a way to make cover so he would not have to contradict the vote of the Democratic nominee. It's called being a team player (putting your agenda behind that of the nominee at the convention at which you gave a speech.)

Had Obama not made cover and came out strongly against the resolution om contract to the nominee, everyone here would hold that against him as well. Typical screw him if he does, screw him if he does not blogging.

Sorry. If you read it, it's already too late. The deprograming meme has already been implanted. It will lurk in your subconscious and resurface with any routine activity involving rhythmic repetitions: Walking, brushing your teeth, the dividing lines down the middle of the highway, the sound of a passing train at a crossing... It's a designer meme, carefully crafted in the underground Obamabot laboratories by mad Obamabot scientists. You're totally doomed.

There IS an archived record of Obama's speech on Wayback--the web archive--that was automatically archived by them in 2002.

http://web.archive.org/web/20021217033809/www.obamaforillinois.com/news.shtml

Look at the entry for Wednesday, October 23, 2002.

Do you think Obama might have falsified his speech six years ago? If so, you're nuts. He wasn't even running for the U.S. Senate at that point.

I'm afraid some of you folks have parted company with reality. All sorts of delusional beliefs are setting in and becoming objects of total conviction.

The full text of the speech was published on Obama's website on Wednesday, October 23, 2002. The website itself has long since disappeared, but a copy of the site as it existed then was archived and is still available on the Wayback site:

http://web.archive.org/web/20021217033809/www.obamaforillinois.com/news.shtml

Wayback is a very useful tool for people seeking the truth. The Project for a New American Century took down their public webpages last year, probably to hide their public documents relating to Iraq, Iran, etc, and bury all of their references to John McCain. They couldn't wipe the evidence off of Wayback, however. It's slow going, but you can find it:
