at University of Hawaii yet I do not recall reading anywhere where she worked in any Russian province or for Russian organization? Am I missing something? Is article wrong?

This woman was very well-educated.

Every so often, Ann would leave Indonesia to live in Hawaii—or New York or even, in the mid-1980s, Pakistan, for a microfinance job. She completed her Ph.D just before her death.

When I read this article it appeared to me that Sen Obama had a VERY close relationship with his mother yet he writes a book explaining his relationship with his father-and almost ignores his mother’s existance except for some comments here and there? One might think that he did not want to attract attention to his mother. Why?

The public has an urgent right to know what is in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge records that Stanley Kurtz is seeking to explore.

Won’t you aid in the real pursuit of democracy by taking immediate steps to insure the safety of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge records, to release the identity of the Collection’s donor, and above all to swiftly make the Collection available to all researchers, journalists, and the public at large.

As this is one of the most important elections in our lifetimes I ask you to act immediately so all voters and the American public will know for whom we are voting.

I just read Stanley Kurtz’s disturbing account of his failed attempts to access records of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge at the Richard J. Daley Library.

The initial approval and then denial of his access is incredibly disturbing. His account of the process is here.

We are about to nominate Senator Obama for the highest office in the land, and I am shocked that we are not being granted access to public information regarding his past associations and actions. This does not bode well for anyone who cares about this country.

The information Mr. Kurtz has received in his correspondence with Ms. Ann Weller leads one to believe there is a very real chance these records will be redacted or destroyed in an attempt to hide information that could be damaging to Mr. Obama. What else can one think when such extraordinary steps are being take to keep this information from the public?

I urge you to please take immediate public steps to insure the safety of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge records, to release the identity of the Collection’s donor, and above all to swiftly make the Collection available to Mr. Kurtz, and to the public at large.
