Quit Making Excuses For This Guy!

(SADDLEBACK DEBATE-JOHN McCAIN VS BARACK OBAMA)

Obama did it again, he blew another debate. Now, this should have been a simple debate, the question, in my opinion were pretty straightforward and didn’t deal with difficult subjects like the economy or taxes. And most of all, he was debating John McCain, the guy that every Democrat said would never be able to stand up to the oh-so intelligent Barack Obama.

For those who cannot see or hear the video, let me give you a few of the questions and answers from the candidates. The first one I will show is Obama’s answer to the following question:

Q. WHO ARE THE THREE WISEST PEOPLE THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU WOULD RELY ON HEAVILY IN YOUR ADMINISTRATION?

A. YOU MENTION ONE PERSON THAT I WOULD BE LISTENING TO IS MICHELLE, WHO IS NOT ONLY WISE, BUT SHE’S HONEST. ANOTHER PERSON WOULD BE MY GRANDMOTHER.

Wait…Michelle and his grandmother are going to be in his administration? WTF??? Are you kidding me? I have to wonder if this guy has ADD because obviously he didn’t understand the question… either that or we are going to have an awful lot of nepotism going on in the White House. I wonder if he plans on asking his young daughters for advice, too? That had to be the dumbest answer that Obama has ever given in a debate, and he’s had plenty of dumb answers to choose from. This was the perfect opportunity for him to show that he will have an administration that would compliment his weaknesses, but he blew it.

On the other hand, McCain didn’t hesitate (not one uh), he gave the names, General David Petraeus and Meg Whitman who is the CEO of E-Bay. McCain pointed to people who would help him with foreign policy and military issues, and the economy. Meg Whitman who is an American economic success story AND a woman will certainly help him with his weakness in economics and with the woman vote. In fact, I’ve seen the rumor floated around that she may be his V.P. pick…certainly a wise decision, IMO.

Q. WHAT WOULD BE, LOOKING OVER YOUR LIFE (EVERYBODY’S GOT WEAKNESSES, NO BODY’S PERFECT) WOULD BE THE GREATEST MORAL FAILURE IN YOUR LIFE–WHAT WOULD BE THE GREATEST MORAL FAILURE OF AMERICA?

The answers to this question are pretty long, so I’ll just leave some of it, you can listen to the video to get the rest. Obama jumped right in and started talking about how his dad left him at an early age. Yeah..we’ve heard t hat story a million times, poor Obama raised by a single mother. You never hear him mention on the campaign trail that it wasn’t long before she married a wealthy oil executive and he didn’t exactly go without the necessities. Here’s the Wikipedia quote:

After her divorce, Dunham married Lolo Soetoro, and the family moved to Soetoro’s home country of Indonesia in 1967, where Obama attended local schools in Jakarta until he was ten years old. He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from the fifth grade in 1971 until his graduation from high school in 1979

Yeah…tough life he had there! If anyone would take the time to check, Punahou School is a very exclusive, well-to-do school. Not exactly what you would think of when you hear “I was raised by a single mom”, is it? But that’s what he’s counting on, voter naiveté.

He then goes on to give the impression that because of his difficult upbringing, he turned to drugs and drinking while he tried to “find himself”. I could tell you of a lot of kids who were raised by single moms who had it a lot tougher than Obama, some who didn’t go to the best schools, have nice clothes to wear, and didn’t have a decent place to live, and yet they didn’t turn to drugs or alcohol. Obama’s whining goes to show you that he cannot take responsibil ity for his own behavior.

OBAMA: I WAS SO OBSESSED WITH ME AND YOU KNOW, THE REASON I MIGHT BE DISSATISFIED THAT I…UH UH…COULDN’T FOCUS ON OTHER PEOPLE.

Guess what? Obama is STILL obsessed with himself and will never focus on other people. He certainly hasn’t proved that yet. Everything that he has done in his career has been for himself. And don’t let that phony “community service” bullshit make you think he was doing it for others. If he gave a rats ass about anyone but himself, he wouldn’t have let those in his district– black community, live in housing without heat for six months while the slumlord who ran the buildings was giving him large contributions for his campaign and holding fund raisers for him.

Q. WHAT’S THE MOST SIGNIFICANT — LET ME ASK IT THIS WAY: WHAT’S THE MOST GUT WRENCHING DECISION YOU’VE EVER HAD TO MAKE AND HOW DID YOU PROCESS THAT, COME TO THAT DECISION?

A. WELL, YOU KNOW, I THINK THE OPPOSITION TO THE WAR IN IRAQ WAS AS TOUGH A DECISION THAT I’VE HAD TO MAKE NOT ONLY BECAUSE THERE WERE POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES BUT ALSO BECAUSE SADDAM HUSSEIN WAS A BAD PERSON AND THERE WAS NO DOUBT THAT HE MET AMERICA ILL.

BUT I WAS FIRMLY CONVINCED AT THE TIME THAT WE DID NOT HAVE STRONG EVIDENCE OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND THERE WERE A LOT OF QUESTIONS THAT AS I SPOKE TO EXPERTS KEPT ON COMING UP, DO WE KNOW HOW THE SHIITES AND THE SUNNIS AND THE KURDS ARE GOING TO GET ALONG IN A POST SADDAM SITUATION, WHAT’S OUR ASSESSMENT AS TO HOW THIS WILL AFFECT THE BATTLE AGAINST TERRORIST LIKE AL-QAEDA, HAVE WE FINISHED THE JOB IN AFGHANISTAN?

Wait….his most gut wrenching decision was his opposition to the war? The guy gives one speech in the 13th District in Chicago, the stomping grounds of Louis Farrakhan, and THAT was his most gut wrenching decision? Are you kidding me?

Also, who were these so-called “experts” he talked to? This guy’s story builds and builds the more he talks. I would really love to know what intelligence he had at the time he made that little vanity speech of his. Was every Senator in every State privy to such intelligence?

On the other hand, McCain’s answered that his most gut wrenching decision was to stay in the prison camp in Viet Nam after he was told he could leave early. His depiction of what he was facing with that decision was heart breaking. For those who think that this won’t hit home to every military family, you’re sadly mistaken.

As usual, the Obama campaign is trying to make excuses for Obama’s bad performance at this20debate, just as they made excuses for his horrible showing in previous debates with Hillary. Andrea Mitchell, carrying the water for Obama, said this:

“The Obama people must feel that he didn’t do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because what they are putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. He seemed so well-prepared.” (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” 8/17/08

Yeah…McCain “cheated”…..

McCain’s campaign had an answer to this ridiculous charge.

We are extremely disappointed to see that the level of objectivity at NBC News has fallen so low that reporters are now giving voice to unsubstantiated, partisan claims in order to undercut John McCain.
Make no mistake: This is a serious charge. Andrea Mitchell is repeating, uncritically, a completely unsubstantiated Obama campaign claim that John McCain somehow cheated in last night’s forum at Saddleback Church.
Indeed, instead of taking a critical journalistic approach to this spin, Andrea Mitchell did what has become a pattern for her of simply repeating Obama campaign talking points.

Oh, and for those who think that I’m using my “bias” to state that Obama screwed up big time, Daily Kos has the same opinion and Taylor Marsh was just beside herself with worry over what is going to happen to poor Obama if he doesn’t start preparing for these debates. Gee…do you mean she actually expects Obama to do the hard work for him? Isn’t that the job of Howard Dean, Donna Brazille, and Nancy Pelosi? As far as McCain is concerned, he had a great debate and was well prepared (no, he didn’t cheat and if anyone can prove that, be my guest). I can say this, however, at this point in time, with the economy in the dumpster and having the last eight years watching our country go to pot because of a Republican president,at this stage of the game this should be a cake walk for Obama, and yet he is dead even with McCain in the polls. So, what do you do when you can’t climb above 50% in the polls? Go on vacation to Hawaii, of course!

Being crowned king isn’t as easy as it looks, I guess.

Divine Democrat can be found at her usual digs, Bad Habit.

I HAVE A QUESTION:

WHY IS IT THAT ALL OF THE MEDIA WHORES AND OBAMABOTS ARE SAYING THAT OBAMA NEEDS A FIGHTER, HE NEEDS HILLARY. IF NOT, HE WILL LOSE.

SHOULDN’T THE BEST CANDIDATE BE ON THE TOP OF THE TICKET??? IF OBAMA CAN’T WIN BY HIMSELF, THAT SAYS A LOT, DOESN’T IT?

HILLARY COULD PICK KERMIT THE FROG AS HER VP AND SHE’D STILL WIN. HELL, I’D VOTE FOR HER REGARDLESS OF WHO SHE PICKED, REPUBLICAN, DEMOCRAT, OR ALIEN.

THIS PROVES THAT HILLARY IS THE FIGHTER OUR COUNTRY NEEDS AND SHE SHOULDN’T BE FORCED TO CLEAN UP OBAMA’S SHIT JUST SO HE CAN WIN AFTER WHAT HE HAS DONE TO HER.

Comment by Retired | 2008-08-19 20:53:11

Perhaps Obama is secretly a fighter. He does seem to have a lot of secrets, after all. In fact, I believe that he may be the first candidate for President to have a full time security staff just for personal secrets.

He wanted to call them the Secret Service, but that name was already taken, so he had to settle for the Obama Secret Service, or OSS, for short. I’ve heard that William “Wild Bill” Ayers has secretly been appointed as the director of OSS.

Did the McCain camp callout NBC or what? I don’t know what difference it’ll make but I think it’ll play better coming from McCain, the maverick, than Hillary the Clinton. “He wasn’t in the ‘Cone of Silence’!!!!…that’s juvenille and desperate IMHO.

Comment by tzada | 2008-08-19 16:49:34

Yes, they did. Was on Drudge yesterday. This on today. One of Hillery’s top delegates will not attend the convention due to injury. It’s Dianne Feinstein, out with a broken ankle. She was to have lead the California delegation. How lucky for Barry.

Comment by NoOneKnows | 2008-08-19 16:57:00

If Dianne Feinstein won’t be at the convention, I guess her Superdelegate vote won’t be cast for Hillary Clinton. !

Why she couldn’t be at the convention with a simple cast on her foot beats me!

I guess she simply doesn’t want to compromise herself to Pelosi, Dean and Clinton with having to toe the party line and cast her Superdelegate vote for Obama.

With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Can she designate a proxy who will cast a vote?

Comment by Diana | 2008-08-19 17:10:28

Diane isn’t stupid, she already knows this is a facade just as the primaries were. I gave her and ear full several times on Obama being pushed down our throats and what I was finding on him. I know others did as well. Obama was going to win it no matter how the people voted. She probably doesn’t want to be part of the fiasco because she knows eventually it will all come out, it always does. Diane works a lot across the table so she’s probably been informed as what to expect one the convention is over and wants to distance herself as far away from it as possible. But, hopefully she will designate a proxy to cast her ballot for Hillary.

Comment by Diana | 2008-08-19 17:16:08

That’s an not and. Earful, sorry about that. I really need to edit what I say, sometimes I just get so emotional or angry I could care less. I’ll just type what I think and my mind goes faster than my fingers. Maybe I should take to watching my fingers as I type. Nah, then I’d probably make even more mistakes. I’ve tried re-reading it, that doesn’t work either. I know what I was saying so my mind just skims over it. Got the point across. ;)

I Smell a Clinton Coup Brewing

After Barockstar’s near fatal empty suit performance at Saddleback Saturday, the Obama spin machine is in damage control overdrive. I wonder if they‘ve had time to realize that they have been triangulated by the Clinton war room and set up to take a fall at the DNC convention?

That old Clinton war room stench is in the air again… It seems the empty suit and his empty headed staff is not quite up to speed on Clintonian strategeries.

The only open question at this point is this; does Hillary have the votes to pull it off?

I wouldn’t lay my money against her!

Hillary can either try for the nomination, start a third party or sit this one out.Her most likely option would be to wait for 2012.

Taking the VP slot from Obama will damage her career and legacy beyond repair, IMO. Based on Obama’s showing so far, a presidency with him will certainly be a disaster. She cannot afford to be a part of it.
His arrogancy will not allow her vital input, besides if she the best one for the job..she should have the job.

If she were to, by some miracle, receive the nomination she would face an extreme uphill battle from the half of the party that has been bamboozled by Barack. Would she be able to get back those votes that were not necessarily for Obama, but against her (in no small part thanks to the media)?

Her loyalty and convictions are so deeply rooted within the Democratic Party, with her husband arguably being the most successful member; I doubt she could ever do anything but work to better the party she loves so greatly.

That leaves the most logical( and least appeasing for her supporters) option: to run again in 2012.
If the dems wake up and go with a winner by then.

This response is really remarkably dense and off the mark. Barack just finished his Hawaiian vacation and he can’t pay attention to or interact with a single person any better than this?

This guy has got a problem. If it’s not a physical, organic problem with his information processing capabilities, then he should be seeing a psychiatrist. He has no business being in the position he’s in.

Advice to Barack: Graciously withdraw your name from consideration on Monday, August 25, 2008, citing health concerns. Resign your senate seat and take a very prolonged vacation to recover and recuperate. You don’t have to endorse Hillary. We will understand.

If they keep saying McCain cheated they are really screwing themselves. The pastor was on Hannity last night doing an interview and he said that the charge was ridicules. If they keep saying that they have to realize they are calling the pastor a liar and from what I have found out he is a very popular man.

He said that someone was calling around spreading that and also lead be to believe that it was the Obama campaign. We all know that is where Mitchell got her talking points and used them on Meet The Press.

MR. GREGORY: Andrea Mitchell, that’s a pretty clear contrast.

MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, there was the crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain, clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base. And Barack Obama, taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity. And a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn’t do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that–what they’re putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.

He also said if anyone got the heads up it would have to be Obama because he gave Obama a couple of the questions that were going to be asked. McCain was late and he couldn’t give them to him. He said he had to go on and assume McCain would be there. McCain was off in another building with the secret service before Obama answered his first question. There was no video feed to that building. Plus, he said he was still working on the questions up and until the last hour before the interview. So neither could have known.

They should be careful angering this guy. 25 million in book sales. 18 million Clinton supporters. Or are they bound and determined to anger any group they can, leaving just a small group of Obama supporters. They’ve already got him now talking about how extreme Black Liberation Theology is which he wasn’t doing before. Before he was just leaving it as Wright was the Pastor that brought him to Christ and sometimes Christ uses imperfect people. He himself is imperfect. Now he’s talking about Marxism and how it’s gone from Latin America, etc…I’ve said it a million time his supporters are poison to his campaign, they do enough damage for 20 PUMA groups all on their own with no help from us. Name calling, bully tactics, twisting things to suit their agenda. Far more than any of us ever have.

Comment by Raven | 2008-08-19 17:01:36

Larry, could you post Pastor Warren’s comments

I think, once again the Obama campaign demonstra-

they did after the ABC debate and proceeded to
“cover” for his inept performance.

He was dumped by both parents, raised by a gradfather who dumped him on Frank Marshall Davis, a confirmed Marxist and bisexual, his mentor for twenty years. Soetoro referred to him as his uncle Frank. His use of heavy drugs. No wonder he is a confused! We don’t need this in the W/H!

New L.A. Times/Bloomberg presidential poll has some surprises later today

Which White House contender had the better summer?

A new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll of registered voters across the country leaves little doubt about the answer.

We can’t reveal the precise figures yet; for that, check back at LATimes.com about 2 p.m. PDT (5 p.m. EDT). Suffice to say that the results will not alter the perception that — given a seemingly sunny political climate for Democrats — Barack Obama is under-performing nationally.

Also, a series of questions gauging voter attitudes about candidate attributes makes clear which perceptions Obama needs to shore up between now and election day.

For John McCain, the poll underscores that the more voters focus on domestic issues, the greater the challenge to his hopes of winning the presidency.

And he and his aides might be a bit surprised by the findings when voters are asked whether they view Obama as “too arrogant and presumptuous” and whether McCain could be considered “too hot-tempered.”

August 19, 2008 – McCain, Seen 2-1 As Better Against Russia, Gains On Obama, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Men And White Voters Go Republican
http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1295.xml?ReleaseID=1204

American likely voters say 55 – 27 percent that Arizona Sen. John McCain is better qualified than Illinois Sen. Barack Obama to deal with Russia and now trails the Democrat 47 – 42 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

This compares to a 50 – 41 percent Sen. Obama lead in a July 15 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

In this latest survey, Democrats say 48 – 31 percent that Obama is better qualified to deal with Russia, while Sen. McCain is seen as better by Republicans 86 – 5 percent and independent voters 55 – 24 percent.

In the presidential matchup, McCain leads 46 – 41 percent among men, up from 47 – 44 percent July 15, and 48 – 40 percent among white voters, compared to 49 – 42 percent last month. He also leads 65 – 25 percent among white Evangelical Christians, up from 61 – 29 percent.

But Obama leads 53 – 39 percent among women, compared to 55 – 36 percent last month, and 94 – 4 percent among black voters. The Democrat leads 55 – 36 percent among voters 18 to 34 years old, compared to 63 – 31 percent last month. Obama’s strength among voters 35 to 54 is up from 48 – 44 percent to 49 – 41 percent. McCain leads 47 – 40 percent among voters over 55, compared to a 45 – 44 percent split July 15.

Independent voters shift from a 44 – 44 percent split to a 45 – 39 percent Democratic tilt.

There is more but didn’t want to post it all.

Cherry Pick Much?

“[McCain] now trails the Democrat 47 – 42 percent”

“Independent voters shift from a 44 – 44 percent split to a 45 – 39 percent Democratic tilt.”

“By a 52 – 30 percent margin, likely voters nationwide have a favorable opinion of Obama. McCain gets a 50 – 32 percent favorability.”

“Obama leads McCain 49 – 41 percent among those who list the economy, 61 – 30 percent among those who cite the war and 66 – 24 percent among those worried about health care.”

Apparently John McCain can’t close the deal against the eeeeeevil Commie Nazi Baby Killer Manchurian Candidate Moooooslim, even after outspending him. McCain promised us a return to the Cold War and Drilling for all. Obama was on vacation, plotting baby genocide. What’s wrong with John McCain?

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2008-08-19 21:18:41

Try this on for size, UMMMMMMMM

McCain Leads in the following swing states, where Obama had a previous edge:

Ohio: McCain 1.5+

CO: Mcain 0.5 +

Va: McCain 0.6+

Fla. McCain 2.6+

Indiana McCain 6+

North Caolina McCain 6+

GA McCain +7

Nevada [he’s leading the pack–+3

MO McCain +2.5

And you forgot to mention that it terms of “national security” McCain leads hands down as a leader who could handle a national emergency.

Okay, forget the statistics, Obama revealed himself this weekend with his stumbling, mumbling response to predictable forum questions. And let’s not forget the Russian invasion of Georgia. That was a winning moment!

People are actually listening and taking notes. Should we mention the “live birth” abortion bill? Or how about drilling during an energy crisis?

Obama is tanking, finding his level, I’d say. Couldn’t happen to a better candidate!

So please, keep on underestimating the opposition. McCain will bite you in the ass in November. And as a former Dem, I will smile.

Anyone notice this answer when Warren asks Obama about evil, he first mentions Darfur, then mentions evil in the United States, then goes on to say we have to have ‘humility’ because (the USA) can be doing evil in the name of good.

It is so obvious that this man is anti-American. If he is so convinced that the USA is the evil one,and that fighting for freedom and democracy at home and around the world is so wrong, then who does he believe is right?

But when ever Obambi said confront evil with humilty?????? WTF does that even mean???????

Comment by BlueDolphin | 2008-08-19 17:20:37

He means that to confront evil with humility, you have to be in the appeasement state of mind, the “Dhimmitude” of servitude that will be needed when confronted with islamic forces rising up within and inside this nation.

From a conversation inside Obama’s administration.

Barack: Michelle, the Russian are threatening to nuke Poland, why is that?
Michelle: America is a mean country.

Barack: But what do I tell the American people?
Michelle: That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.
Barack: Good idea, I’m going to do just that.

A little later.

Barack: It worked, they bought it.
Michelle: For the first second time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.

Honestly…

Barack Obama is just pathetic. He can’t help himself; he has a compulsion to reveal his lifelong narcissism.

This is the hundredth time I’ve seen him reference his self-absorbed narcissism. He did it again when he was talking about his mother trying to teach him “empathy” for others–which was clearly a lesson he needed to learn as a child–because he was mean or uncaring toward others in his life.

He’s told the story about how Michelle told him, “it’s not all about you.”

He’s told the story about how a childhood friend told him, “it’s not always all about you.”

In his note at the wall in Israel, his prayer was to “help me guard against pride and despair.”

He cannot help himself. He has this pathological need to reveal his own narcissism.

It’s why he cannot admit to failure, or take responsibility for his mistakes. That is a hallmark of narcissists.

Comment by HARP | 2008-08-19 15:02:09

No question about that.

Talking about himself when in this public forum just before a convention and general election is a sign of a natural derangement.

it’s not like he was a POW and talked about his experiences and how being a POW made him stronger.

It’s him talking about himself as himself is the most important thing to experience.

Comment by roofingbird | 2008-08-19 19:14:37

Maybe you should quit making excuses for McCain.

The guy has no economic plan. In spite of a 41% decline in the value of the dollar and a doubling of the national debt since Bush took office, McCain is going to leave all Bush economic policies in place.

Name ONE ECONOMIC POLICY POINT that McCain has said he’s going to change. Name ONE NEW IDEA the guy has seriously suggested.

McCain says tax cuts (which are all for the rich again, btw) will create jobs and stimulate growth. That’s about as detailed as the McCain plan gets.

Excuse me, but how is that any different from what we’re already doing? Isn’t that how we got to where we are in the first place?

All McCain talks about are the rosy results of the big turn-around he’ll give us. He doesn’t say word one about how he’ll do it.

It’s just like Iraq. We’ll win! Yeah. A few details would be nice.

He’s also going to win the Cosmic Battle with the Forces of Evil! He swears he’s going to bring Osama bin Laden to justice! Just like George W. Bush has been doing for the last seven years.

He’s just another republican flim-flam man.

Comment by HARP | 2008-08-19 15:53:01

Then why did Obama camp admit he screwed up ?

Obama Campaign Admits He Lied When He Called National Right To Life Liars

Yesterday, Soren noted that Barack Obama called the National Right to Life Committee liars. NRLC, if you will recall, noted that the Chicago Tribune quoted Barack Obama’s explanation of his vote against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act on October 4, 2004. The Tribune wrote

Obama said that had he been in the U.S. Senate two years ago, he would have voted for the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, even though he voted against a state version of the proposal. The federal version was approved; the state version was not. . . . The difference between the state and federal versions, Obama explained, was that the state measure lacked the federal language clarifying that the act would not be used to undermine Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court opinion that legalized abortion.

NRLC provided a side by side comparison of the federal and state statutes and proved conclusively that the state statute did have “language clarifying that the act would not be used to undermine Roe v. Wade.” Nonetheless, Obama voted against it.

Obama’s response was to tell David Brody, “[T]hey have not been telling the truth. And I hate to say that people are lying, but here’s a situation where folks are lying.”

Yesterday, Obama’s campaign admits that NRLC was telling the truth.

His campaign yesterday acknowledged that he had voted against an identical bill in the state Senate, and a spokesman, Hari Sevugan, said the senator and other lawmakers had concerns that even as worded, the legislation could have undermined existing Illinois abortion law.

Obama told the Chicago Tribune the law did not have language tracking the federal version that would have guaranteed protections for Roe v. Wade. The NRLC *proves conclusively that the legislation did have those protections. Obama declares the NRLC is lying. Yesterday, the Obama campaign changed its story. The NRLC was not lying, it’s just that “even as worded the legislation could have undermined Illinois abortion law.”

Barack Obama would rather see infants thrown, quite literally, into trash cans than dare encroach on the right to kill infants.

Comment by ziggy | 2008-08-19 16:52:08

Right. McCain talked about the importance of the FISA, but actually didn’t vote on it. He had his eye on disaffected democrats.

Same with the 2008 GI bill. He strongly opposed it, but wasn’t about to go on record with a vote against veterans during an election year.

McCain did a total election-year reversal to support the Bush tax cuts, which he always before opposed as a “fiscal conservative”.

McCain also did a total reversal on offshore drilling.

McCain switched his position on torture, reversing his position on waterboarding suspects in February 2008.

He switched his position on indefinite detention of terrorist suspects. He opposed it, but when the Supreme Court came to the same conclusion, he called it “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country.” What the hell… It’s an election year!

McCain previously supported normalizing relations with Cuba, and holding talks with Hamas and Syria. He has now switched all those positions.

I’m not sure about his current position on privatizing Social Security. He switches on that one like a weather vane.

The McCain reversals are too numerous to list. There’s a page-full, all documented, here: http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/flipflops

Flip-flops are one of John McCain’s basic wardrobe accessories.

What did you just say. Nothing you said had any base in fact. You just spouted a bunch of emotional discharges and even they were not correct.

The tax cuts in place now would stay. However Obama’s tax plan would tax you at 42,000. So those mmaking between 42,000 and 150,0000 would see an increase of 10% in annual taxes. Notice I gave you figures and not a bunch of overemotial charges. You fail at debate. There is hope of you though. If you go to college (assuming that you graduated high school), you can take a philosophical class called Logic. It will teach you how to make sound arguments. That is the only advise I can give you.

Another republican flim-flam pitch, to take in the poor suckers who’ll unquestioningly swallow a 30-second attack ad as gospel truth.

The Obama and McCain tax plans have been fully analysed and compared side-by-side, using actual figures.

The McCain plan actually reduces middle-class tax cuts.

The Obama plan increases middle-class tax cuts.

McCain actually reduces tax cuts to the $40,000 a year worker by two-thirds.

And McCain dramatically increases tax cuts to the wealthiest families. They make out even better than they did under Bush. They make out like bandits.

Here are the facts, displayed side-by-side. Compiled by a highly reputable, completely non-partisan source:

No, that isn’t what the chart shows at all.

The dollar amounts with the minus sign show how much your taxes go DOWN.

The dollar amounts with the plus sign show how much your taxes go UP.

Get it? For incomes ranging from $37,596 to $66,354 John McCain will reduce your yearly taxes by $319. Barack Obama will reduce your taxes by $1,042.

Which do you like best? McCain–LESS money in your pocket? Or Obama–MORE money in your pocket?

You can ignore the question if you make more $111,645 per year. This is why rich people tend to be republicans–unless they also happen to be fiscally and socially responsible.

That isn’t actually the dictionary definition of the term.

Did you actually look at the chart there. That article is wierd. it actually says the Opposite of what the chart says. The chart shows less of a tax decrease for the rich than Obama’s plan. The chart shows an 11% increase in Obamas plan vs McCains negative (decrease). I think that article is not accurate by the blantant contradiction between the chart and article. Its almost like the author took the chart from another website and read it wrong. LOL

Comment by ziggy | 2008-08-19 15:59:12

The chart and article correspond precisely.

The Obama side of the chart is showing a tax increase for the wealthiest Americans. As the article says.

Obama would raise taxes significantly on the wealthiest 0.1% of our society. The wealthiest 0.1% of our society can certainly afford it.

Keep in mind that the top 10% of families in America currently own over 71% of the nation’s total wealth. The bottom 40% of the population owns way less than 1%. They own around 0.2% of the total, to be precise. (That’s two-tenths of 1 percent, if anyone suspects a misplaced decimal point.)

Facts really seem to bother a lot of people, but the illusions are what get us into trouble.

People suggest Obama’s plan is all illusion, without ever looking at Obama’s plan.

They accept what McCain and the republicans tell them without question.

Comment by Jillie | 2008-08-19 18:53:44

i don’t want to pay 30% taxes when i sell my house.

capital gains and inheritance taxes cut across all levels of income.

also, in the charts i have seen, bo expands the base income for social security.

either way, i get hit more…and i am far from wealthy.

Comment by ziggy | 2008-08-19 19:22:40

Neither do I. Of course, Obama hasn’t proposed that you should.

Obama’s increased taxes on capital gains don’t kick in until your income goes over $250,000.

Net income from the sale of your principal place of residence up to $250,000 ($500,000 for a couple) is totally exempted from taxable income. And that net income from a home sale doesn’t count at all toward the $250,000 point where increased capital gains taxes apply, either.

The Obama and McCain proposals have that same $250,000/$500,000 exemption for the sale of your personal place of residence.

The lies are being rolled out a mile a minute. Always check the facts, or risk being played for a fool:

Then explain to me the following:

We gave the Democrats a majority in Congress a full (2) years ago, on the premise of holding this adiministration’s feet to the fire. Nancy Pelosi, out of the gate, says that impeachment is off the table. This Congress was given a mandate and have squandered it. Their approval rating is 9%; lower than George W’s

For the last (2) years, up until this election cycle got into full swing, so-called liberals and “progressives” have been railing against this “do nothing Congress” and its’ leadership (Pelosi/Reid). You then explain to me then why these so-called progressives have decided to back the candidate supported by these very “do nothing” Congressional leaders?

Could it be that at the end of the day, Obama is not a Democrat but rather a libertarian? Arianna Huffington, George Soros, Andrew Sullivan, Bill Mahr, et al are NOT Democrats. They do not believe in the social safety net that has been at the cornerstone of Democratic principles for 60+ years. They are playing in our sandbox, because the Republican party was hijacked by the Christian right.

Why do you think that NBC’s Andrea Mitchell is such a cheerleader for Obama? Could it be that her husband is for Fed. Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan who never met a sub-prime mortgage he didn’t like!

Who voted for the Bush-Cheney energy bill? (Obama)

Who voted for retro-active immunity for the telecoms via the FISA bill? (Obama)

Who didn’t show up to vote against condemning MoveOn.org for its’ General Petraus ad? (Obama)…and yet they came back and endorsed him anyway.

Who had only good things to say about Reagan; calling him a “transcendental” figure even though during his (8) years in office AA communities were overrun with crack cocaine, we did deals with the Apartheid regime in South Africa, and there was no mention of AIDS let alone monies spent for treatment! (OBAMA again!)

Stick your economic policy where the sun don’t shine! I was born in 1970. I grew up in the 1980’s and I saw how good things were under Clinton in the 1990’s (The only U.S. President to get a standing ovation on the floor of the United Nations!)

Obama has done nothing while Maytag employees lost their jobs.

Obama’s “handlers” told the Canadians not to worry about Nafta.

Obama is for Nuclear power and less regulation

Obama has a healthcare plan that would leave at least 15 million uninsured.

Obama left AA families in the cold and dark during a Chicago winter in his own home district while continuing to take campaign contributions from a man (Rezko) who was supposed to be using that money to maintain low income housing.

Obama spent the first (5) years of his time in the Illinois legislature voting present and hitting the wrong buttons.

Obama claims that the Senate banking committee is “his committee”. Chris Dodd is chairmand of that committee and Obama doesn’t even sit on it.

Obama gets asked a question about abortion and answers “that question is above my pay grade”! (He couldn’t sound more like George W. Bush if he tried with that response)

I never voted for George W. and I will never vote for Obama!

Stick your economic policy where the sun don’t shine! I was born in 1970. I grew up in the 1980’s and I saw how good things were under Clinton in the 1990’s

So what do the Clinton years have to do with the Bush economic disaster and McCain’s plan to continue all of the same policies that caused it?

Obama’s policies are very much like those of the Clintons. Republican policies are the other side of the coin.

You clearly don’t understand what voting “Present” means in the State of Illinois. Voting “Present” has the same legislative effect as a “No”, but it’s a qualified rejection. “No” means you reject the whole bill, lock stock and barrel. Acceptance, qualified rejection, or total rejection. Only the first puts a bill into law.

Comment by eurogirl70 | 2008-08-19 17:42:39

Wrong Ziggy.

Obama’s entire career has been based on taking small snippets of other’s policies and creating a mishmash that adds up to crap.

He knows nothing about formulating policy, so he understands very little about how to revisit a policy, tweek it and make it better. You have to be someone who is adept at both the MACRO and the MICRO.

Obama likes to think big, but big things don’t get done without paying attention to the small details.

and by the way Ziggy… I have an M.A. in international relations. Obama’s present votes in the Illinois legislature go well beyond any other Illinois state legislators present votes during the same timeframe.

I don’t follow leaders who cannot succinctly lay out for me what their policies are and how they home to achieve them. Obama cannot speak succinctly. He does not have a clear vision beyond the mantra of “hope and change”. Please don’t tell me to visit his website. If he cannot address his “policy views” but can only site to his website then he is a student who just bought a thesis from an online papermill. The “views” are there but they were not crafted by him!

He got Emil Jones in the Illinois legislature to be his “daddy” during his last year in state office. Jones allowed Obama to climb over every other AA legislator in the Illinois state house, so that he could bring bills to the floor for votes. All so that his resume would be a bit more “padded” when he decided to run for Senate.

Reagan “Its’ morning in America
H.W. Bush: “A Thousand points of light”
George W: “Compassionate Conservatism”
Obama: “Hope and Change”

Clarence Thomas’s 1991 Senate confirmation hearing was one of the most shameful political events of recent American political life. In the wake of Barack Obama’s risible attack on Justice Thomas at Saturday night’s Rick Warren forum, and the continuing buzz about Delaware Democratic Senator Joe Biden’s potential selection as Obama’s running mate, it’s worth rewinding to 1991.

She knows how to balance, she fed 11 of us on 100 dollars every 2 weeks and never went over clear from the 60’s through the 80’s when the last left home. She’s the only person I know that can host a buffet at Christmas and Thanksgiving with stacks and stacks of treats and all for less than 100 dollars for 9 children. If Hillary becomes the nominee, God help the citizens of Denver. It is going to get real ugly–real quick.

She won’t become the nominee, not a fat chance. Obama’s got the money and he’s got the race card. The day the nominee is announced is August 28th, the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” -speech. The DNC WANTED to make this a race issue. Republican Chick, that’s my biggest fear, I don’t want to see any more humiliation, let alone, the public zeal that will be exhibited in physically harming those who oppose the O nomination. Silencing the masses won’t work and if there is a “civil war”, it will get ugly probably beyond Colorado. There have been some signs throughout the summer in different areas over different things, and it seems acceptable to harass, threaten, and vandalize all in the name of the O campaign, with not a frickin word from the DNC on this behavior, it appears as if it is encouraged.
The DNC is complicit with the campaign, any and all who contributed, only have their self interest in mind. More disturbing is the excuse making, so what will the DNC say, “those damned protesters, only we have civil rights, not you.”

Comment by RepublicanChick | 2008-08-19 16:04:06

To be honest, I think there is a huge difference between Hillary’s supporters (PUMAs) and Obots.

I am concerned they will riot and wreak havoc on the streets and the people of Denver and it will spread throughout the country. I live in a pre-dominantly black neighborhood and I know they’ll feel that Hillary will have stolen the nomination. It won’t be the truth, but most of these Obots cannot be reasoned with on a good day—let alone a bad one.

His snide comment earlier this year about “my voters won’t vote for her (Hillary), but I’m sure her voters will vote for me.” (Paraphrasing!)

He can get away with saying it because his followers worship him. They don’t understand logic, reasoning, or common sense.

They’re getting ready for trouble in Denver because people are organizing trouble in Denver. It isn’t the Obama people who are planning it. It isn’t the Clinton people, either. The plan is to bring down the democratic party.

Divide and conquer. Part 1 was to bring down Clinton. Part 2 is to bring down Obama. Part 3 is the election of John McCain and a mandate for an increasingly right-wing authoritarian republican chief executive who rules by executive order. Bush has already laid the groundwork. Remember all of those executive orders the media made little of and nobody paid much attention to? The public text was scary enough. Half of the content was secret–even from congressional oversight committees. Did you ever read the public text of NSPD-51/HSPD-20?

The key to putting all of that into action is a frightening display of lawless chaos on the streets of Denver, followed by a pledge to restore national order and public safety and security during the subsequent republican national convention.

Mark my words. We’re being pitted against each other to make all of that possible.

Your trite two and three word answers … do they actually add up to a pay check at the end of the day? You do nothing to further a debate.

Do you know what “pay grade” is? Checking with Wiki …. “Pay grades are used within the military [emphasis mine] of the United States for personnel and pay purposes and are based on a servicemember’s rank. While ranks may have different names between the five military services, each rank corresponds to a pay grade in one of three tiers: Enlisted (E), Warrant Officer (W), and Commissioned Officer (O).

Pay grade is essential when determining a member’s entitlements such as basic pay, BAH, or to determine seniority among a group of members from different services.

So are you and Bob Bobolinski up there inferring that God has a pay grade? Do you understand the concept of blaspheme — I know you’re young but think of it as the ultimate SNARK — Dictionary definition this time … (just to make it simple enough for you to grasp) … blaspheme …. “ To speak of (God or a sacred entity) in an irreverent, impious manner

So. If Soretoes HAD any illusion of “courting” (again simple enough for you) — trying to persuade them to take a serious look at him — the evangelical voters …. I am wondering why he thought snarking about God would make a good impression? Does he think he’s the only smart person in the room? ( … well, I totally get it that when it’s you, him and Bob Bolinski that would be the case …. :) )

He made a GIGANTIC mistake once again by under preparing and blowing it off. He needed some of those votes. And the next debate? John McCain will be standing in the room with him and will make him look even smaller and more callow (look that one up. sound it out if you need to) than the past performance.

Now. Either take a hike or make an actual contribution. You’re wasting space here.

Man, another one that thinks she has the right to tell us how to feel, think, vote…here’s a clue for you Nancy, we don’t like or trust Barky. And you are one rude creature to come here and tell us how to arrange our furniture. Oh and your comment is nothing new or special. Don’t flatter yourself thinking you are worth Larry’s time and attention.

Thanks for a whole lot of nothing, Little Debbie.

Coming here and reading is a choice, I don’t believe you have to worry about what is said here, the language or context, if you choose not to read it. It is your freedom of choice to read, ours to comment. Your interpretation is that, yours, and there are many others as well. Unlike some sites we don’t make rules to only present one side, so why you would claim your post would be taken down, is incorrect and misleading. Obviously you know the filth is what gets taken down, real filth, hateful, cruel intentional violent words, not disagreements,or one persons interpretation of class. I’m glad you posted.

“If you cared about the country, you would unite to defeat McCain. If I were Hillary, I would be embarrassed to be associated with our childish behavior. And if she isn’t, I’m embarrassed for her, too. It’s one thing to fight for something you believe in, but PLEASE show a little class.” Nancy
I care and love America so much, that is the reason why I AM NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA! Hillary does not need you to be embarrassed for her. She is proud of her supporters, who are smart and patriotic.Together, we cracked the ceiling with CLASS. And know what, Nancy, the cracked ceiling will eventually drop, so we can breathe fresh air and help Hillary rise !
Hillary or McCain ‘08

Nancy sweetie….

Isn’t it ABOVE YOUR MENTAL PAY GRADE to comment on any political issues of which you are ignorant at best and insanely cultish at worst?

Now go finish Obama Nation…

I saw a point on description of Obambi: He’s that rare politician that gets smaller the closer you look at him.

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-08-19 16:48:56

That’s right on the money.

All of Obama’s Obot donors will feel so stupid in November. They’re still in “panic mode” right now.

From the time Bush Jr. entered the White House, I called Karen Hughes his nanny!
What dip-stick will be assigned to the “O”?
I suggest they should have covered this already…his prospects are looking bleaker by the hour!!!!

You NQ people are very uninformed. Have you ever heard of quantum mechanics? Look it up please. Similar to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, the outcome of Obama’s performance in the forum was altered when the McCain people cheated by texting the questions to John McCain. By entanglement of McCain’s questions with Obama’s answers, the observed effect may appear that McCain was better prepared, however, the Copenhagen interpretation of the events from an absolute reference point shows that Obama won the forum hands down.

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-08-19 17:36:43

No, idiot, it means that you can’t simultaneously pin Oblahblah down and get a straight answer at the same time.

Comment by umm | 2008-08-19 17:45:11

Freedom Fighter

Uh uh uh uh uhm..

Why don’t you go sell ‘crazy’ to your Obambi dudes! We don’t buy here at NQ.

It’s above your mental pay grade to comment on anything above a critique of the Simpsons…adios.

Comment by JoeySky | 2008-08-19 18:20:05

So you people have been texting questions to Obama when Hillary took the faith forum ahead of him. That’s why he got the answer ready. I always knew that Obama cheated.

Comment by Jillie | 2008-08-19 19:04:02

are you for real?

do you think throwing around these concepts and bullshit phrases takes away from bo’s piss-poor performance?

the problem with him was that he didn’t get a chance to hear mccain’s answers first and copy them, like he did with hillary.

or maybe, hillary was texted the questions at their debates. yeah, that’s the ticket. (go look that up)

Comment by Darryl | 2008-08-19 20:19:52

Hey, NQ friends

Isn’t it odd that today there’s a rush of fools on this site from the Obambi Church?

The little rats must be really scared….can’t blame them after their Messiah blew the candle of Hope for his candidacy inside the Church of Saddles

Bad Habit! I love your blog. I was reading and reading and reading it last night. I’m glad somebody discovered you for No quarter! Oooooooooo Rahhhhh!

Thank you, Upppity, coming from you that is a huge compliment! I hoping to get out more posts about Obama, the man is an eternal pit of corruption just waiting to be brought to light.

Freedom’s Defender- I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen that supported Obama and are feeling like they got duped. Unfortunately, they keep saying they have no other choice but to vote for him and they still think McCain is evil. Most of them have never heard of all the scandals we see on this blog and from all the other bloggers who contribute to NQ. I imagine they are feeling pretty scared…the more people see Obama, the more they distrust him.

Keep on spreading the word….Obama is like rotten meat, it smells more with each passing day.

“I was so obsessed with me that I couldn’t focus on other people” said the narcissist Ibama.

A tough childhood? Private schools and never going without?

His father abandoned him and he still has not gotten over it. “So obsessed with me”. Nothing has changed.

Heated conversation tonite on Fox..One of the girls on Hannity and Colmes, said Obama just handed the election to Mccain, over this Abortion issue.Sean had the paper in hand, and said Obama LIED> It was a good show, for a write up..

Way to go Sean Hannity

Bring back Clinton

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2008-08-19 21:56:25

This “live” abortion issue has legs. There’s no way you can talk your way around it or make excuses, ie. the language compromised “pro-choice” policy.

No, it did not.

And to vote against a bill to give pallative care in the case of botched abortions is . . . barbaric, inhuman. I’m pro-choice, but the stories disgust me–handling live births, regardless of how unviable as piece of garbage? Throw these breathing lifeforms in the trash? It makes me ill. I’ve always believed that abortion should be sooner rather than later, never an excuse for contraception, and only late term abortions for rape or incest or women whose lives are threatened [very rare].

But even then, not to honor a potential life, to so sorely abuse the idea of human life even when malformed, unwanted, unviable, not to offer the rudiments of care to ease pain and/or suffering?

It shocks me. It absolutely sickens me. How could anyone not sign a bill to prevent this? There is no excuse. There is no reason that makes sense, not in any human way.

Obama can turn it a thousand ways. But I don’t think my reaction is so unusual. It’s an issue with arms and legs.

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-08-19 23:28:54

Sean was quick to point out that Obambi’s vote did not make him a baby killer; it made him a LIAR. And, I will add, an IDIOT.

But we already knew that.
