The Kingdom Takes Over Denver

webgitmo_edited-3.jpg

What would a gaudy extravaganza for “The Coronation” be without a dungeon? Sure enough, as Uppity Woman has already reported here wire cages topped off with barbed wire and stun-gun carrying guards await anyone who …. does what?

Despite detailed descriptions of the facility, the arrest, bond posting, and court processing, why one would be arrested remains fuzzy. I finally found the one sheet flier everyone will be handed that sheds new light on the term “vague.” Couched in the cloak of one’s rights, your guess as to why you can be hauled off to the Denver Gitmo is as good as mine. Every “right” has a “but.” You can speak out, unless….You can march on public streets, unless… Or, I quote, “Even if you are not engaged in unlawful activity, you are subject to citation and/or arrest if you do not leave the area defined by the police in their lawful (?) order to disperse.” I get the feeling that the police can make it up as they go.

This reminds me of the bigger picture. Obama’s comment last June 14th in Philadelphia, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” suggests that his critics will be treated harshly. The Democratic Party has lost its moorings and appears to be about to push through an inexperienced candidate who we know little about (most records either conveniently missing or under embargo), and what we do know involves some pretty ruthless and dangerous associates. How would the freedom of expression and right of association be played out under an Obama administration? Like Denver, it simply is not clear–but it feels ominous.

When Obama is president, you’ll have one of those on every street.

yes, true - and the cages will be labeled “herein are the racists.”

and all will be wearing big red R’s on their shirts.

they will be marched down the streets where the witch.. I mean racist burnings will be held.

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-08-19 17:17:37

Yeah, that’s exactly right — we get the details in our secret daily bot emails — once Obama is president, martial law will be imposed, all those who did not vote for him will be arrested, all puppies and kittens will be outlawed, rainbows will vanish, and all will be darkness forevermore.

Do you people have any what fucking idiots you sound like? Grow the hell up.

Folks are having fun, that’s all. Never too old for that.

BUT sfhillary, you must be too young to remeber 1968. That was something else again, and the people are about as upset now as they were then.

One saving grace, of course, will be that Hillary supporters are not a violent lot. I would be much more afraid if Hillary was the one to be nominated.

Comment by Karma | 2008-08-19 20:13:15

You grow up!

The left was all upset over Bush and his cages….so now they create cages themselves!?

What happened to the Constitutional law lecturer’s respect for the Constitution?

Scared they might reveal someone who hasn’t drank the kool-aid on tv? The MSM certainly won’t report it so what is the worry with Obama? That the First Amendment might actually occur on the streets of Denver?

oOOOoo scary! People speaking their minds.

It is such utter nonsense that they accept this from Obama when the left whined about Bush subverting democracy with these same cages. They have no honor.

However, the proof of Obama’s intent will be in the accounts of the people who were caught. It certainly was with the Bush cages.

Comment by NoBamaNoWay | 2008-08-19 21:02:00

it is an eye-opener indeed to see how quickly democrats adopt the gestapo tactics they decried when repugs first used them.

Comment by FranSC | 2008-08-20 12:02:42

Actually, I don’t think this is the democratic party in regard to the “gastapo” tactics now being used by the Obamas.

In one of the videos about the astonishing tactics used in the caucuses, this democratic party leader said, “The democratic party has been taken over by ‘young white males’” - the MoveOn.Org types.

This, of course, with the blessing of Dean, Brazile, Pelosi, and Clyburn. And the reason we MUST take our party back. We cannot allow this hi-tec demographic group who knows nothing about history or life to take over the reins of this country.

Oh, yeah. And I bet there were a bunch of sycophants like you in Germany when the shit started hitting the fan there, too. When Nobama & the DNC start ACTING like democrats, we’ll start believing they really are. Until then, better to be prepared and hope we were just being paranoid. Some of us remember all too well how people can get carried away by their political fervor and end up doing really bad things. What concerns some of us is that if y’all will brook no dissent now, what the hell would you be like if your candidate actually won? Like we used to say in the sixties- “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean no one’s following you.”

I have a challenge for your candidate; why doesn’t he challenge McCain to a test on the Constitution and see who wins. Because from what I hear Obama isn’t too up on Constitutional law. After this weekend’s performance, I think McCain would win.

And I don’t know about Obama’s “real world” but in the real world we live in no one is providing us with 6 million dollar mansions and inflation just jumped to 5.6% in July. That’s very real to Voters!

We can either fight this now or wait till Nazi Germany is upon us. Its clear that with the consolidation of power under Bush, we’re living in a more and more rights-restricted America.

Comment by James | 2008-08-19 16:11:15

I like that one Strawberry :)

There’s still a part of me that truly believes Hillary will walk away from the convention as our nominee, and these “cages” are for the angry Obamabots; who are naturally violent, abusive and irrational as it is.

Imagine, we all know the Superdelegates are going to decide this, and they’ve all been privy to the same info we have these past couple months. There just might be a Clinton Coup at the convention with the Supers going her way. Then we can all get some much needed rest knowing our country will be safe and these Obamafreaks are put away where they belong.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-08-19 16:31:31

Well James, I can’t imagine cages being built for the average Hillary supporter. If we Clintonites haven’t rioted yet at the way we’ve been treated, I don’t know what else could make us resort to violence. Perhaps Barky stabbing puppies? Michelle eating the heads off of fluffy bunnies?

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-08-19 17:22:37

Are you really this stupid? Are you not familiar with that quote? It’s a famous quote from a movie about Al Capone, and Obama’s comment referred to not sitting back and taking Republican negative attacks without fighting back. It has nothing to do with actual violence and nothing to do with Democrats.

Man, every time I think I cannot read a dumber comment from a PUMA, you folks prove me wrong.

Comment by Eidnoreid | 2008-08-19 17:38:55

Oh you mean Al Capone the infamous CHICAGO CRIME BOSS???

When you invoke the words of a mass murdering crime lord (whether from a movie or not), you are aligning yourself with that style of tactics.

If he meant what you say he meant, then he should have said just that. Instead of making an Obama/Capone comparison.

It’s a lose lose for Obama regarding this statement-

Either he meant it as it is, and considers Capone tactics ok

or

He didn’t mean it that way but is too stupid to know that he confirmed the fears a lot of us have about his wanna be Capone attitude

So which is it? Is he a wanna be Capone, or a stupid foot in mouth dolt?

Thanks for your concern tho.

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-08-19 17:07:30

All I can say is that I do not have a good feeling about this at all. It is either posturing or they plan on arresting people. The questions then become why the posturing or, conversely, how strictly they are going to enforce the restrictions?

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-08-19 17:27:05

Every political convention of the modern era has had protesters, gathering restrictions and at least a few arrests. When the same happens at this convention, though, you PUMAs with your laughably inflated sense of your own importance will no doubt proclaim the advent of fascism.

Face it, you’re an intellectual joke.

Comment by Katmoon | 2008-08-19 17:31:39

So why are you the one posting on what you know to be a Pro-Clinton site. You are what is laughable. DO you make bets between the bots, to see who can come to NQ and boast and upset people? You all are cognizant of basic facts (like, this is Denver PD putting these arrangements together - not Obama) aren’t you? That Obama would have little or no control over how a municipal government would deal logistically with a major convention? Or is that too boring for you and really doesn’t let you get your blood up?

Everyone knows the ‘municipal governments’ are just the tools the big guys use to keep people in line.

Ultimately, Obama’s thugs will decide what happens here, peace or violence.

Military Intelligence and National Guard present at Denver DNC
by E. Rosa- Colorado Independent
Wednesday Jul 30th, 2008 5:57 PM
The Colorado Army National Guard is expected to transform a private Denver university campus into a restricted military lodging area during the Democratic National Convention in August.

More than 400 soldiers could be stationed in official capacity on the campus according to the National Guard, but the Guard is not disclosing what the troops will be doing during the convention.

Comment by Blu | 2008-08-19 16:57:05

Pot smokers who light up during the Democratic National Convention can expect to get busted under state laws, even though a voter-approved city ordinance makes possession of small amounts of marijuana the “lowest law enforcement priority,” Denver police said Monday.
“We’ve always enforced the state statute,” police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. “That was the law before the initiative and it’s nothing new. I don’t know why we’d relax any law.”
Mason Tvert, leader of the group that sponsored the ordinance that discourages marijuana busts, said city officials are ignoring the will of the voters. Last year, the city prosecuted 1,600 marijuana cases, he said, and is on track to bump that to 1,900 this year.
“We’re concerned, during the Democratic National Convention, that they are going to use the law to cite people or detain them,” Tvert said.

I think many of us are apprehensive about the convention and the potential for disruptive behavior and consequences for protesters. Before we get too carried away about the potential for catastrophic events, it might be good to check out the detailed plans for the convention and security issues at the link below including the questions and answers section. This may be helpful especially to those who plan to attend the convention or be in the immediate vicinity:

Comment by kat in your hat | 2008-08-19 17:10:45

You know what, there has been a serious overreaction to this whole Denver Convention. I do not think anything will be so crazy out of order that the media needs to constantly try to warn protestors that the National Guard will be there, and Gitmo, and on and on, tanks, etc.

Gimme a break. It’s like the media is trying to force people to not protest when it is a right and many people have permits anyway.

Sure, there are some loud and scary looking people, (like those anarchist guys! lol) and I bet there will be SOME who just want to cause havoc, but c’mon already with the threats: DENVER, Media, Obama-Media, Obama-DNC.

Try to sell Denver as something NICE, not something out of 1984.

Comment by FranSC | 2008-08-20 13:10:17

All the scarey types are the Obama thugs who will be making sure they get to remain “happy”. I have thought from the start that the cages are to lock out (and away) the Hillary supporters from where the action is. Unless we have protestors inside the convention hall (delegates), demanding rights for all there including an open convention that is not just symbolic, nothing will happen except what Bo and the DNC want. It will then look like the happy, party unity they are trying to achieve, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-08-19 17:18:24

I think the “cages” are just another symbolic gesture by Obama and his cohorts to try to scare protestors. Unless people are acting violently I don’t think people are going to be drug away for no reason. If you’re not breaking the law and protesting peacefully then there is nothing to worry about. It’s just a mind game by Obama…he and his campaign play them well. By all means, all those able, go and show your support for Democracy. Do you realize how much Obama and the DNC don’t want to see on the news that their “chosen” candidate is being protested and Democrats aren’t unifying?? LOL…I can hardly wait to see it!

So whether he wins the nom or not I’m going to enjoy the post convention coverage. The only problem is that obama’s nomination could successfully kill our party. There’s’ no way in heck anyone will vote democratic again when they find out how much party leaders are letting this man get away with. What a wreck Obama, the puppet, is. It would be such sweet poetic justice if the puppeteers, Soros, Daley, and the looney-tunes Dean and Pelosi, are completely
blind-sided by the untruths laid on them by Barky and Micky, e.g., that there is no ‘whitey’ tape, and finally realize how much they were deceived when the Republicans finally roll it out…or do they really know about it and flicked it away from their delusionary minds, hell-bent on forcing this sack of shit on the public. It will be so much fun to watch the spin these assholes put on it. I tuly hope it infuriates the distant, untouchables Daley and Soros.

Plus, he refused to stand up for Move-on’s right to free speech in the General Petraeus matter.

Why not set up a mini-Gitmo at the coronation convention? It is a good way to test out new techniques of social control.

Comment by Rich | 2008-08-19 19:33:26

This is why I am very concerned about the Democratic Party and their attitude toward women. In California because a women Democrat did not vote with her party for the budget, she was cast out and had to move her office to an island away from the mainland, or the main activity. She was trying to look out for the people who elected her, which is what she was elected to do. If we can not get along with our own party members how are we going to reach across the aisle to get anything done? We need Hillary to create some kind of sanity.

I am ashamed of what my party, the Democratic party has been doing lately. I don’t remember the Republican party doing something like this…. erecting a barbed wire fence to scare and house dissenters.

I haven’t posted on this site for a long time, but I see the lunacy has gotten even worse. Why do you fail to point out that Obama and his campaign have nothing to do with the security the City of Denver is putting in place??? or is this just one more in a long line of “smear Obama at any price” posts?

Comment by Tricia Spiegel | 2008-08-19 22:16:26

Oh, but they do. They are working with the DNC.
Anyway, all of this isn’t even about your point.

No need to “smear” Barry/Barak, Suotoro/Obama. He does pretty well all by himself.

So, if you “see” that so clearly, why do you post at all?

Fellow “lunatic?”

Never mind, we know why.

You post because you are frightened and angry. If you were getting your way, and were content, not fearful of your Messiah’s many cockups and plunging poll numbers, you wouldn’t be here, spoiling, like a petulant “pout-raged” child, for a fight.

That’s what frightened, immature people do, see? They lash out when they are cosumed with fear and anxiety. And here you are, doing just that.

Your post ranks a seven point nine on the PUMA FEAR meter.

Be very afraid, little footstomping Honcho. Be very, very afraid!

Went to the county fair tonight and guess what they were passing out at the tractor display before the exhibits. Pretty “Nobama” stickers with a blank or white flag on it. My boyfriend grabbed me the last one in the basket. The guy said the stickers were going like hotcakes. Made my night, that and watching my boyfriends 4.9 year old at his first fair was a joy too. When he saw the rides and and stuff he just stood, looked and shook with excitement.

Nobama!!

I don’t see CRAPPERS in those cages–that’s cruel and unusual, to me.

Wow. This sorry exchange of “ideas” reminds me that we’re a nation of lame-brains incapable of dealing with reality, & we usually get the president we deserve. After 8 years of lies, corruption, secret prisons, extreme renditions, etc, god forbid you bunch of morons should talk about the profound reforms required to turn this mess around, or engage in a constructive dialog about the candidates’ proposals, or which candidate is better equipped to get the job done. No, it’s so much more enlightening to gossip and repeat lies and insults from the echo chamber of online Obama-bashers. Critical thinking is such an overrated concept, who needs it?

Comment by Tricia Spiegel | 2008-08-20 10:53:29

To Merman.

We just don’t want problems to continue. Democracy remains a fragile experiment. Most people do not realize that. Discussing the signs that free speech or freedom of association are being limited is perhaps one of the most important issues. Without either, democracy is doomed.

Some of us see WAY too much gradiosity in Obama, and that is a very bad signal. That is how things could unwind further into what happens too often in other countries.

I thought Obama says he likes to listen to many voices to help him make good decisions, so why are so many voices being silenced?
