The American Issues Project, a conservative 527 group, is running the following ad in Michigan and Ohio.
The strength of the ad is its accuracy. Unlike the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth’s ads, there is no available counter-argument. Bill Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist. Obama’s political career was launched at Bill Ayers’ house. Obama did serve on the Woods Fund board with Ayers. The ad hits Obama hardest on his self-proclaimed good judgment. As law professor Steve Diamond states, Obama wasn’t just friends with Ayers, he wasn’t just a guy in the neighborhood, he was Obama’s benefactor for 20 years.
Obama’s slide from national goodwill coincided, not coincidently, when Americans began to learn more about him. It occurred on April 16, 2008, when George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson did something unique that night, they questioned Obama about his troubling associates. The liberal blogs and the MSM were in hysterics; bias, they screamed. Rick Hertzberg, writing in The New Yorker, complained that:
Yet for most of the next hour Gibson and Stephanopoulos limited their questioning to the following topics: Obama’s April 6th remark about “bitter” small-towners; whether each candidate thinks the other can win; the Obama family’s ex-pastor, Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. … Obama’s failure to wear a flag lapel pin; and Obama’s acquaintance with a college professor in his Chicago neighborhood who, while Obama was in grade school, was a member of the Weather Underground. And the problem wasn’t just the questions’ subject matter, or the fact that all but the last had been thoroughly raked over already; it was their moral and intellectual vacuity.
Regardless of what Hertzberg considers moral and intellectual vacuity, it’s incontrovertible that Obama is good friends with a terrorist and, because of Ayers’ past, many of us consider that immoral. What really happened during the debate in April was that Obama experienced a real vetting (which was mild next to what Hillary had been subjected to in previous debates), and then Clinton cleaned his clock in every important contest after Americans learned of his despicable friends and watched his evasive answers. But of course no one was allowed to criticize Obama then; it was in such bad taste to question The One.
Although Hertzberg downplays Obama’s association with the odious Ayers by making his views seem like something from the past, the picture below from 2001 shows his hatred for the United States continues to today:
In May, Larry Johnson wrote that:
if you are involved with politics you ought to understand that if you hang with, work with, and politic with a guy who is an unrepentant terrorist that it might reflect badly on you. In fact, you should put some distance between yourself and said terrorist.
Sensible advice for a politician. Because, Johnson continues:

Thomas Ayers, his father was CEO of Commonwealth Edison, now called Exelon. Tom was also the Chairman of Chicago United, a group of Chicago leaders and powerbrokers. Exelon is a MAJOR contributor to O’s campaign.

Since I can vote, I voted for Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, and democrats down ticket. (Except for Arnold. That was a real mess in California.)
I never registered as a democrat, because I like to vote for the person not a party.
I registered here,in FL. as republican to add a layer of protection to my vote (I don’t forget 2000). It could be silly, but I don’t like to take chances when I don’t have to.
This is the very first time that I got involved in politics at any level beyond going to the voting booths (which I do religiously.) It is time to put a responsible leader in the White House. Hillary is – without a question – the best. McCain, being moderate and a good man, can do a decent job. Obama has to go away.
Reading lots of blogs I see that the most noisy republicans are blinded by their prejudice against anything Clinton or democrat. But they look like patriots to me. I would guess, most of them could live with Hillary (but they won’t stop screeming).
The fringers of both parties are terrible. Just look what happened to the DNC as the far left took over. Same with the republican party since it was hijacked by Bush/Rove.
The democrats, independents and moderate republicans are turning their face toward Fox, Hannity, O’Rilley in desparation. I believe we all know that this is only a truce for the time until Obama is gone.
There will be not much of a Democratic Party until it gets reformed and the crazy folks elected out of their offices. There is only one person who can do that: Hillary Clinton. She has the wisdom and judgment to make the transition the least painful. She can keep the party together.
We still have hopes – a lawsuit was filed against Obama in regards of his eligibility. Let’s hope that it works.

That’s why they started voting for her in the end. In the beginning Obama got republican votes because they thought they could beat him easier. Republicans are good at winning. I do believe in the two party system. It would be better if there were more viable parties, but at least we have two. One party countries are not very good.
Hillary’s dilemma is that she knows that Obama can’t win. She knows, she will be blamed for anything that goes wrong. She wants to save the country and the Dem. Party too. If she takes over in Denver, she might win the GE, but the party will fall apart.

When asked to explain his relationship with William Ayers, Obama said this: “The notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was eight years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn’t make much sense, George.” Obama was indeed only eight in early 1970. I was only nine then, the year Ayers’ Weathermen tried to murder me.
In February 1970, my father, a New York State Supreme Court justice, was presiding over the trial of the so-called “Panther 21,” members of the Black Panther Party indicted in a plot to bomb New York landmarks and department stores. Early on the morning of February 21, as my family slept, three gasoline-filled firebombs exploded at our home on the northern tip of Manhattan, two at the front door and the third tucked neatly under the gas tank of the family car. (Today, of course, we’d call that a car bomb.) A neighbor heard the first two blasts and, with the remains of a snowman I had built a few days earlier, managed to douse the flames beneath the car. That was an act whose courage I fully appreciated only as an adult, an act that doubtless saved multiple lives that night.
I still recall, as though it were a dream, thinking that someone was lifting and dropping my bed as the explosions jolted me awake, and I remember my mother’s pulling me from the tangle of sheets and running to the kitchen where my father stood. Through the large windows overlooking the yard, all we could see was the bright glow of flames below. We didn’t leave our burning house for fear of who might be waiting outside. The same night, bombs were thrown at a police car in Manhattan and two military recruiting stations in Brooklyn. Sunlight, the next morning, revealed three sentences of blood-red graffiti on our sidewalk: FREE THE PANTHER 21; THE VIET CONG HAVE WON; KILL THE PIGS.
For the next 18 months, I went to school in an unmarked police car. My mother, a schoolteacher, had plainclothes detectives waiting in the faculty lounge all day. My brother saved a few bucks because he didn’t have to rent a limo for the senior prom: the NYPD did the driving. We all made the best of the odd new life that had been thrust upon us, but for years, the sound of a fire truck’s siren made my stomach knot and my heart race. In many ways, the enormity of the attempt to kill my entire family didn’t fully hit me until years later, when, a father myself, I was tucking my own nine-year-old John Murtagh into bed.
Though no one was ever caught or tried for the attempt on my family’s life, there was never any doubt who was behind it. Only a few weeks after the attack, the New York contingent of the Weathermen blew themselves up making more bombs in a Greenwich Village townhouse. The same cell had bombed my house, writes Ron Jacobs in The Way the Wind Blew: A History of the Weather Underground. And in late November that year, a letter to the Associated Press signed by Bernardine Dohrn, Ayers’s wife, promised more bombings.
As the association between Obama and Ayers came to light, it would have helped the senator a little if his friend had at least shown some remorse. But listen to Ayers interviewed in the New York Times on September 11, 2001, of all days: “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” Translation: “We meant to kill that judge and his family, not just damage the porch.” When asked by the Times if he would do it all again, Ayers responded: “I don’t want to discount the possibility.”
I’m sorry to hear you and your family had to go through such terrorist acts by SCUM like Ayers, who even now is still not repentant.
Obambi launched his white house bid at Ayers home, that in itself tells you more than you need to know about Obambi’s moral character, he has none!

I think that advertisers of products have a great deal to learn from the Obama advertising machine. Talk about selling empty caliers filled with sugger cereals that can kill you. Of the 45% who currently support Obama, figure that 3/4 of those folks are hard core in the tank. Either kool aid wasted Obama-bot are Dems who will always vote Dem.
That leaves 1/4 or about 12% of his 45% that can move away from him. (his recent polling indictates this is starting to happen, a trickle, here a trickle there).
Now most of that 12% will probably stay with him. But if just 15% of them do. He drops to about 43%.
Now he needs to make that up from the true undecideds and the more adds like this that are out there, the harder it becomes to get a larger share of that group than he is already getting.
His people are scared and now have know they have to scare the undecideds away from McCain and keep pitching the 4 more years of Bush mantra because Obama the candidate of Hope and Change has already hit the ceiling for who he can bring into the tent. His base is not growing. It is in fact heading the other way.
And forget about the convention bounce. It usually happens because people see a candidate make a strong speech in front of a huge crowd which gets everyone really excited.
Obama has already done this so many times, it will not seem like such a big deal.
For McCain on the other hand, it just might.
Obama’s VP pick will be the bubble gum that holds Obama’s candidacy together… I think the powers that be are clinging to that hope.

Very good ad. I have always said-tell the voters about all the candidates and then let the voters decide. Obama’s Massive Headfake: Hillary for VP?
The reasons to think Hillary Clinton will not the Democratic VP nominee are myriad. Among them:
Clinton’s camp says she is not being vetted
VoteBoth, a Clinton-for-VP project by two former Clinton operatives, has shut down, proclaiming Clinton’s VP chances nonexistent
Hillary is speaking on Tuesday night in Denver, and having her name placed in nomination. VP nominees speak on Wednesday.
Let me outline why I think all of this could be a massive headfake:
Clinton is already the most vetted public official in America. Lack of “formal vetting” doesn’t say very much. And “formal vetting” can occur at any time. I’m sure Vice Presidential search committee head Dick Cheney didn’t submit his papers several weeks out.
It is precisely the fact that VoteBoth is a project of Sam Arora and Adam Julian Parkhomenko (who was an assistant to ex-Hillary CM and current Obama VP COS Patti Solis Doyle) that makes this interesting. We can be certain that the shutdown was done in consultation with Hillary and Obama operatives at the highest levels. That either means Clinton is not the pick, or Obama and Hillary’s people don’t want people to think Clinton is the pick. Those are two different things.
Convention speaking schedules can be changed. Most everyone on the short list already has a scheduled speaking slot. Clinton receiving upwards of 40% on the first ballot and then being chosen as the VP could enhance the “catharsis.” Obama would simply be bowing to the will of Democratic Convention-goers.
To these responses I’ll add the following, the leaks so far out of Team Obama have been exceptionally lame. Joe Biden? Tim Kaine? Please. Even seemingly interesting names like Kathleen Sebelius and Evan Bayh have seemingly been given the kibosh. Why hasn’t Martin O’Malley, who would seem like a natural frontrunner, even been mentioned?
The leaks so far are consistent with tamping down expectations for a blockbuster Obama pick, like Clinton.
And we know that Obama’s team knows how to play this game, looking at the head games they played with June fundraising.
But more than just a source of intrigue, I am more and more convinced that Hillary Clinton is in fact the logical pick. Just look at the other names on the short list:
Joe Biden’s mouth is a constant source of embarassment. And how would the PUMAs take to a failed second-tier candidate leapfrogging someone with 18 million votes?
Evan Bayh has been vetoed by the netroots
Kathleen Sebelius would be a clear and direct affront to the PUMAs, much more so even than Biden. The first woman VP/President — and one you’ve never heard of — would increase the sense of Clintonian alienation.
Tim Kaine. Hahahahahahahahahaha
Wesley Clark would provide the military experience Obama needs, but his comments about McCain’s service are a problem

Each of the conventional VP frontrunners seemingly has two strikes against them. And the idea of picking a VP to win a critical state is seriously flawed. If Obama is winning Virginia or Indiana, he has already won the election anyway.
If you’re Obama, why not choose a VP who strengthens you all over and consolidates a source of weak support? Who has been thoroughly vetted? Whose selection would be a surprise and galvanize support for the ticket?

The Bush tax cuts saved Americans having income in the lower 60% an average of $317 per year.
The Bush tax cuts gave Dick Cheney $1.1 million in tax cuts during 2005 alone.

But he can never bring him down because McCain has been around a long time with a long record, everyone knows what he’s about, no one knows BO; also, McCain has been a POW during the same time Ayers was blowing up buildings and good old BHO can’t even produce his registration for military service because he’s probably not a citizen; then he bought a house from a known criminal and was married and baptized by a crazy minister who also scammed his congregation into buying him a millions dollar mansion. Axelrod and his thugs get such high praise for their political genius, these guys are nothing but Chicago scum who think they can go up against a machine bigger than the Daley machine, the Republicans, they’ll be toast by the end of it.

Well maybe it will create a legal standing to allow the revealing of Obama’s documents. And maybe it could lead to other suits that are state based to preclude his name from being on their ballots.
It does seem though, based on some of the court rulings during the DNC rules and bylaws debacle, that the DNC is allowed to nominate whomever they chose.

When John McCain was over in Vietnam I had two brothers on the ground fighting also. It was men like Sen. McCain that helped keep my brothers alive. My brothers were able to come home without a scratch-John McCain was not so lucky. He was captured by our enemy. He became a P.O.W. I remember well wearing a P.O.W. bracelet and praying for the prisoner of war that was on my bracelet and all of them. All my friends in school worn them and prayed for them. Most people have seen the documentary and movies on the prisoners of war and how they were treated. Vietnam was a living hell for any prisoner! Sen. McCain was made to be a stronger man from life itself. Many of use know that it is mostly true that ‘with age comes wisdom.’ I truly see this in my own life and in my siblings. We are all Grandma’s now and was doing pretty good financially 2 years ago right when the democrats took control of congress -now we are worried we can lose everything. It’s not us, it’s our customers. In the last two years people are canceling orders (in ground pools) after 31 years because they thought they could get credit but are being turn down-even though they thought they had an excellent credit rating. THAT is crazy!
I have three sisters one owns two restaurants. People still go but not like they did two years ago. Their regulars tell them that going out to a nice restaurant no longer fits their budget. They stay home and limit their PPV selection on T.V. also. Things are bad for the middle class since the democrats took congress. We are starting to hurt and it would be a nightmare for our economy if the middle class disappeared!!! Think about that.
