Early Risers’ Open Thread

[Update: I happen to be up and it's near 11 p.m. tonight, and Fox News is on live, sayig it's Biden, so I'll publish this sooner than I'd planned. I found this recent, pleasant photo of Joe Biden and his wife, Jill.]
No. I did not sign up to receive the official text-message from “The One.” I’ve set my alarm but, if it’s one of those mornings where I reach over and hit the snooze button a few times, you all just keep talkin’.
If Barack Obama can’t comprehend the need to have given Hillary Clinton every consideration — as well as to have more helpfully sought to aid her in retiring her debt, which Lady Lynn Forester de Rotchschild has termed “ungracious” — I cannot become enthused particularly about his candidacy.
However, I will not punish those down the line who endorsed him, and that includes my highly regarded governor, Christine Gregoire of Washington state. She has been attacked, particularly by some PUMAS (or Republicans posing as PUMas) for endorsing Obama. I can’t fathom why she did so. But, otherwise, she has been an outstanding
public servant to this state, and I cannot in good conscience ignore all of her achievements. Furthermore, her opponent is a repellant, country-club-set, land-hungry, privatization-crazed Republican who will do TOO much damage to the poor and disabled in this state. [PHOTO: Gov. Gregoire with her husband, who has been an outstanding "first man" for the state of Washington.]
Perhaps people think that THEY can afford to be angry enough with Christine Gregoire to vote against her. But people had better stop and think if the POOR and the DISABLED can afford to lose Christine Gregoire. Then they should reconsider voting against Christine. Perhaps they need to think of it instead as voting for the poor, the disabled, those without sufficient medical care, the elderly, and the young malnourished children who desperately need a governor who cares about them and who fights for them.
Spite can feel delicious. But only if it doesn’t harm those desperately in need.
As Confucius said, “If you devote your life to seeking revenge, first dig two graves.”
Let’s be sure we do not dig the graves for the poor and politically powerless before we seek revenge against all of those Democrats who endorsed Obama.
That’s my two cents. Now it’s time for your’s.
