They say ignorance is bliss, however sometimes certain members of the Democratic party tend to take things a little too far. For those of you who may or may not know who I am, let me reintroduce myself to help with the confusion. I am black. I am proud to be black. And I SUPPORT Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Live with it. Unlike some, I do not believe the color of my skin, in any way, dictates who I am. It just gives me the ability to know the history of where I come from, so I can know where I am going. However, like I have stated,”color”, does not define me, nor does it make me any better than anyone else. And I do not ”use” it as a crutch to give me an extra boost or push me up to achieve any goal in this world. Because the world I live in, hard work, effort and experience will always apply no matter what job you may do and when you don’t do your job, you get replaced. It’s called “Reality”. Try it.
But first I want to address a message or remark if you will, sent to me today through YouTube that stated:
“If Obama does not win this election, Hillary will lose in 2012″
Really? What does that have to do with me? That just means that you — HIS SUPPORTERS – have a lot of work to do. First, you should get off your computer, and get out there and work for it. There will be no blank checks written for Commander in Chief this November. For those out there who are under the misconception that people will choose the whole “lesser of two evils” because of the last eight years? You’re wrong. I want change and it will be based on who can do the job and not based on who can pretend to do the job . See, who I choose to vote for is my prerogative. I own my vote. Someone marched, died, bled, suffered, but kept going, just so I can have that right. And it will be a cold day in hell before I relinquish that right, based on a threat. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. And the sole reason these remarks carry know weight. But it’s simple, really, and it’s easy to understand my reasoning…See, you’re voting for Senator Obama based on what he can do for you. I STAND BEHIND AND SUPPORT Senator Clinton because of what she can do for this country.
It is not my job to support Barack Obama. I am not one of his supporters and I will not fall in. I am already obligated. One to the U.S and the other in “Hillary’s Army” and apparently my contract got extended to 2012. I could care less about what Senator Clinton states who I “should support”. She is not my political den mother. Instead of attacking people such as myself, you should reevaluate why your candidate can’t seem to break even. After a year of back-to-back repeat episodes of “The One” bought to you by Harpo Entertainment for over a year by every news station, with labeling everyone racist, even her black supporters, obscene amounts of money, a whole kingdom of bots, control of YouTube, Facebook, Yahoo, AOL, and Google, the support of every member of the Democratic party, some members of the Republican party, dead people, rappers, celebrities, and newspapers. And he STILL can’t make it to 50% in the polls? I DO NOT need to be on that train to know what will happen next! You don’t need Clinton supporters; what you need is to ensure you have health insur….oh I forgot, that candidate is no longer in the race… just jump off because there is about to be a wreck.
My recommendation would be, if you really want him to win, get off the computer, get off the blogs and put your feet to the pavement and go work for it. I know all I need to know, and both presumptive nominees behind door one and two, from both parties, came up lacking. And to set the record straight… saying everything is “just like Hillary’s” or “their policies are the same” doesn’t matter. Why would I vote for the student when we could have had the teacher? Plus, I am not going to choose the white-haired dude because he is the only one left. Unless there is a door number three, with Senator Clinton with the keys to 1600 Penn Ave in one hand and a her hand on the Bible being sworn in with the other, with President Clinton holding my tickets for the Inaugural ball, the Democratic party may just be up shit creek without a paddle. But I guess that is what you get when you throw away your bible clinging, gun toting sweeties under the closest bus and tell them to stay home on election day. Lesson lived and learned. It’s not our fault that people voted on “hope” and “change” without finding out what the hell the “change” may be. You bought it, you own it, and my vote and my choice are my own.
I did not spend over a year being called Republican Troll, Dead Ender, Bitter Ender, Hillary Nigger, Hillaridy Nigger, Republican Shill, Sell Out, Uncle Tom, Racist, threatened, account hacked, website shut down and everything else just to fall in like a good little bot. Get real. If people gave up and stopped fighting for what they believe in at the first sign of trouble or something did not immediately go their way, or it didn’t just get handed to them because of hard work, we would still be sitting at the back of the bus with nothing but 40 acres and a mule.

john house — I have spoken with an AA who told me that he and his family will be glad when this election is over and Obama loses. It has turned neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend, and split families. So that when we hear that Obama’s support among AA’s is strong this is not always the case–some fear repercussions if they don’t support Obama.
The man who said he would bring this country together has revealed the dark underbelly of his true agenda.
I am proud of you and SoldierforHillary for standing up against the tidal wave that is Obama’s candidacy. This was a side of this election I had not known.
Sugar is a Woman Warrior! I couldn’t agree more with your post. The Ozombie’s expect this election to be handed to them on a silver platter without doing the work needed. My vote has to be earned not given to an unworthy candidate who has expressed nothing but contempt for HRC and her supporters.

Because they forcibly engineered the nomination of the weaker candidate. The DNC thought that if they rigged the election that would somehow translate to the rest of the country. They ignored the swing states and the necessity to choose the candidate who had broad appeal across the US. Hillary made that argument again and again. Now, they are surprised that he is not doing well as we all predicted for months?

I would say they forcibly engineered the nomination of the candidate they thought would win.
To use an automotive analogy, they went for the sleek British sports car that never runs right over the domestic sedan that gets the children to school and activities every day.
They ignored the fact that despite having the print and broadcast media in their corner, the Obama campaign couldn’t close the deal.
This isn’t a convention, it’s damage control, why else are they gaming the roll call vote? What are they going to do when those ads start hitting the airwaves?
I think the “western strategy” garbage that Dean, Axelrod, Obama and some other leaders think is a groovy idea may account for why the Clintons are being pushed out. The idea is to stop fighting for the South since it is socially conservative and focus on western states like Colorado, Montana, Wyoming – you know, where not many people live. The people in cities in those states are not that into religion and they are moving toward a “new economy”, knowledge workers, yada yada yada.
So the party needs to stop focusing on the working class, poor and AFRICAN AMERICANS (surprise all you Obama supporters who think he will heal our race problems), universal health care, social justice, worker protection, all that so last century stuff. Instead they plan to focus on developing the new economy. So basically they are dismantling the party as we know it and jettisoning its core principles in order to become the Republican lite party. Less emphasis on religion and the suburbs in favor of affluent urbanites. Like those people are powerless.

I am from Colorado and receive email blasts from Governor Ritter. I read that New Yorker article when his office emailed it to us. I found it bothersome, too.
But more than anything, it seemed like another mistake was being made by the Democratic National Party as the one they made in 2006 when they huddled to read the stupid George Lakoff theory epressed in “Don’t Think and Elepant” (and later in “The Political Mind”). They bought theories like Lakeoff’s and Gary Hart’s hook,line, and sinker. They are so afraid of losing AGAIN that they put all their faith in these theories. And, unfortunately for us, these theories are just theories. In testing them, they are finding that those theories will not hold water, so to speak. (I love to use metaphors now just to laugh at Lakoff.)
As a person who has read widely in linguistics as part of my undergrad and masters work, I read Lakeoff’s work before these books. He has done some good stuff on metaphor when he was simply working in linguistics. But his political theory is just simply bunk. And all you have to do is read Pinker’s latest to find out why.
But because someone in “academia” wrote the theories, they bought them and followed them. I went to a meeting in downtown Denver with 900 Obamabots (I didn’t know what I was getting into) and saw the sheep bow at the altar of Lakoff’s theory. (This was especially spooky as it was happening in a Presbyterian church, a church founded by John Knox, who was influenced by John Calvin, etc., the father of predestination.)
They’ve been running with these flawed theories because they are afraid of reality and they try to find ways to show how stupid the general populace is and ways to “speak to” the populace. They end up speaking only to the “eggheads.” It’s Adlai Stevenson all over again.
I am highly educated, but my roots are in a lower middle class immigrant farming family. There’s a place for academia but there is also a place for good old common sense. The Democratic National Committee has none of the latter. It’s too bad we all have to suffer for it.

You could regard their stupidity as the lowest part of your hypothetical scale, setting the 0 point not as stupidity but lack of sense. Like 0 on the Kelvin scale (isn’t Kelvin a troll here sometimes?). This allows your scale to have any amount of sense above 0.

Katmandu — Thank you for the link to the Washington Post article. There is one thing the Post article overlooked–the Down Ticket Democrats who have been dissed by Obama. He doesn’t contact State Party Chairs to tell them when he will be in town so they can line up the local candidates to stand with him at his events. Also, he is not interesting in using the Democratic Party volunteers in order to get out the vote. He wants to hire his own private company with 160,000 people who will be paid by him to get out HIS vote. This has angered the party faithful who believe Obama is only using the Democratic Party for his own purposes.
Perhaps that will be a follow up article in the Washington Post soon.

This is why Obama’s campaign has been unsuccessful thus far–he can’t muster up enough hate against McCain in the way he did against Clinton. Clinton was an easier target because she is a woman, so the default to misogyny was a natural for Obama. Since he is up against a man now, the misogyny card doesn’t apply. Obama tried the race card with McCain, but he was called on it–finally! So what card does Obama have left? Tthe ageism card (e.g. “JM can’t remember how many houses he has …). I hear they are going to play this card up during the convention, but it is sooooooo lame! And since Obama has tacked toward the right on all issues dear to Dems, he’s got nothing left to campaign on. This is why Obama will lose in a landslide in November.
Stir fried Moose with asparagus & red peppers in black bean sauce
Ingredients:
1lb Moose
1 bunch young asparagus
1 sweet red pepper
1 bunch green onions
2 Tbs. soy sauce
2 Tbs. Black bean sauce w/ garlic
3 Tbs. Olive oil
1 Cup Beef broth
½ Cup cold water
Method:
Marinate thinly sliced meat in soy sauce for about 1 hour. Cut asparagus into 3″ pieces. Cut pepper in half, core, and cut into thin strips. Cut green onion in 1/2″ pieces, including the tops. Add cornstarch to cold water in jar and shake. Heat oil in wok. (Put red pepper in oil now if desired) When oil is hot add meat and stir-fry till outside is sealed. Add asparagus and red pepper. Cook till near preferred doneness. Add onions, stir a few seconds, add black bean sauce, add broth (use canned not bullion) and stir till heated. Shake cornstarch and add to mix to thicken. Make sure to keep stirring as cornstarch thickens. Serve over steamed rice &/or chow-mein noodles.
Substitute weasel for the moose meat and you have a dish fit to serve up to Pelosi, Reid and Dean.

Actually. that’s not accurate. McCain was asked that in a session with supporters. It drew a laugh from everyone, but McCain quickly sobered and pointed out that he had great respect for Hillary as both a colleague and a friend. Obama should learn to be as gracious.

Right on Patsy! I am tired of his weakness as a candidate being blamed on “Hillary’s supporters.” We are INDIVIDUALS with our own minds. How about that he is dangerously inexperienced, dishonest, arrogant, hypocritical, unprincipled, and weak?
As you said, maybe the should get off their as*es and focus on what he actually can and will do to convince people that he is ready to be president instead of focusing all of their anger and frustration on the Clintons. But they can’t do that, because he doesn’t actually have qualifications and now, no one knows what he stands for because he has reversed or diluted most of his policy positions. Too bad. It is not my job to support Barack Obama.
That fact has escaped Camp Obama. Since he is running for the privilege of representing us, it is his job to convince us that he is best qualified. Somewhere they got the impression that all they had to do was call us names and intimidate us into supporting him. It’s his job to show us why we should support him, and that he apparently cannot do.

I’m not a republican I am a democrat and I am not voting for obama because I do not wish to enable an unqualified candidate for POTUS. But, you are right, there is no way in hell I would ever vote for obama because: he lies, he is sexist, he is a puppet, I do not want 4 more years of Bush, and I believe that obama really truly doesn’t like the U.S. or us (baby boomer women or women in general) and I think his lack of maturity, experience, and piss poor judgment would be detrimental to this country and we would never recover from his stint as POTUS. Hell, after the shrub we’ve got a recession the middle and working class know exists, but the elite in Washington in both parties refuse to acknowledge with other than platitudes and passing references to garner votes. I believe that Hillary cares about people, and with her intellect, experience, and heart she’s the ONLY candidate who could successfully lead our country out of the very dangerous precipice we are currently balanced on: economy, foreign policy, job loss, stagnant wages, foreclosure debacle, credit crunch, fuel and utility costs, and the possibility of conflict w/Russia and China. With obama, not so much. And, I will not be voting for McCain because I don’t believe he is mentally stable.

Kellie of the blog Air Force Amazons listened to a broadcast recently on BBC radio that featured, among others, Samantha Power, one of Barack Obama’s top foreign policy advisors. Their ties are solid.
We have been critical of Senator Obama’s foreign policy and national security views and plans. We have also been critical of his choice of foreign policy advisers — especially Samantha Power, who has displayed harsh feelings towards one of our closest allies-Israel. .
We now have additional reasons to have qualms. In the radio broadcast to promote her book she stated that when President Obama retreated from Iraq his plans might very well include “moving potentially people from mixed neighborhoods to homogenous neighborhoods” which she admits is the ‘equivalent of ethnic cleansing”.
Who would have ever thought that President Obama might be an ethnic cleanser? Is this the type of image America wants to project to the world? Will this restore our image-from liberator to ethnic cleanser? One more reason to be wary of Samanatha Power and Senator Obama.

Back then, who knew that they were zealots bent on war and pillage? It had never been done before, and now they are paying for their failures.

There’s a point when interest on our astronomical national debt becomes so high and our national credit rating becomes so poor that no one will lend us money, and our entire monetary system crashes. Dollars quite literally won’t be worth the paper they’re printed on. At worst civil order disintegrates into social chaos. At best martial law is imposed by an authoritarian central government, and foreign capital buys up American assets during the national fire sale that follows.
Think I’m crazy? Plot the national debt–doubled in only 7 years during relatively good economic times, which have now obviously ended. Plot the value of the dollar–dropped 41% during the same interval. Plot the accelerating upward curve of the yearly federal deficit–2009 is expected to break all previous records. Then consider that John McCain’s economic policy is a continuation of Bush’s economic policy, with no proposed changes. Plot each of the 3 previously mentioned trends 3 or 4 years into the future.
If you wish–just to put the icing on the cake–factor in the point when baby-boomers begin to reach Social Security retirement age en mass and all those “trust fund” IOUs become due. Budgetary sleight of hand playing a shell game with Social Security taxes has been used for years to make the federal deficits appear less. They’ve been far worse than the phony figures suggest.
The result? Forget about 2012. Somewhere before 2012 we reach a flash point.
McCain isn’t proposing any fundamental economic policy changes. He’s picking up all the basic Bush policies and pushing them even harder.
Maybe you think McCain will be a reassuring presense in the White House as we accelerate toward economic disaster? War is our traditional way of responding to serious national economic downturns. McCain is a hawk. Maybe that’s one reason some people are instinctively drawn to the guy.
