Hillary, All Class

After watching Hillary tonight I imagine the William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Reverend Michael Pfleger, Reverend James Meeks and Samantha Powers (ousted Obama advisor) wish they had backed her. This woman does not throw people under the bus. She is a person of integrity and sticks to her word. She sticks with people who, by their conduct, deserve to be abandoned. But she finds in herself the grace to forgive and look pass the sin. She promised to support the nominee, no ifs, ands, or buts. And she delivered. She gave Barack Obama everything he could want and much more than he deserves.

But it is not enough. She is right about the issues. But we now know we cannot trust Obama on the issues. He has no core. He has no foundation. He has no fundamental principle. He is a man of convenience and opportunity. He is an ideological chameleon and will glom on to people he thinks can help him get ahead. This does not make him a bad person. He’s just a typical Chicago pol.

What did you think?

Comment by YRM | 2008-08-26 22:33:48

I’ve heard that a lot about her having “class”. I disagree. She legitimized an election fraud designed to insure Karl Rove’s neocons would hold onto the White House. Remember, the only reason Obama became the presumptive nominee was because Sen. Clinton quit the race on June 4th (even though she promised her volunteers repeatedly that she wouldn’t), so now there was no one else running against him. Just like his 1995 state senate race. She knew better than to endorse a crooked, self-serving, slumlord-hugging politician whose presidential candidacy was the creation of the G.O.P. in the first place. No one deserves a pass for doing something like that.

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-08-26 23:31:18

She did not quit! She suspended her campaign.

The liars and trouble makers on NQ now I know are mostly REPUBLICAN TRolls.

There are a lot of Hillary supporters here who
will never vote for Obama but who also will never support a republican so you trolls suck regardless. Get a life.

Comment by YRM | 2008-08-27 14:57:30

Now who’s drinking the Kool-Aid? I donated money to Clinton, volunteered making phone calls, blogged, wrote articles making her case, and have her sign under my bed (now headed for the recycling bin). But last night, she basically delivered the Obama talking point that those who reject him and the DNC election process are doing so because of some childish emotional tie to her. That’s insulting. Why didn’t she speak up for the thousands of voters who submitted complaints in the caucus states? Or for Florida and Michigan? No investigation of any of that. Just Clinton rewarding a bunch of misogynist, cutthroat jerks by handing over the nomination and kneecapping every attempt made by her supporters on her behalf. She said this election would have lasting consequences, then she punted. Thanks for the memories…

Comment by Mobydick from Texas | 2008-08-31 01:47:36

What did you expect? Her hands were tied. The Clintons did everything for the Party that really doesn’t deserve it. In other words, they went through the motions because they were already being set up by Donna Brazille and others to take the fall in case Mr. “it’s never my fault” Obama lost the general election. Damn, it gives new life to you’re damn if you do, you’re damn if you don’t. However, things turn out, Hillary will always be my hero, she is the best. Hard headed Obama, he didn’t have the guts to take her as his V.P. For that, in South Texas, we say “TONTO”.

I don’t disagree. She should have done a Lieberman. But she didn’t have the money.

She’s doing what she thinks is best in the long run. Time will tell what was right.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-08-27 01:06:43

Good point. But even if she didn’t pull a Lieberman, she didn’t need to come out and tart stumping for Obama. She raised 5 million for him in a day. Imagine if she had challenged him. She should have taken her case to the credentials committee regarding FL and MI. She should have pushed for a floor fight instead of this lame coronation. Maybe she felt surrender was her only option. Regardless, it’s over now. She let him get away with this, and she’s covering for him now. On to November.

Give Hillary a break, for chrisesakes! Not one of you above, whining about how Hllary didn’t do enough, has an ounce of her courage. You don’t know what she’s had to face, you can’t know the pressure she’s under.
I admire her loyalty to what she believes and, clearly, faced with two lousy candidates in the fall, she still believes that having a Democrat in the White House is better for the country. I’m not sure I agree with Hillary on this, but at least the extremely weak Obama’s power will most certainly be neutralized.

Comment by Ai1een | 2008-08-27 03:19:03

Comment by Mirlo | 2008-08-27 03:41:17

This is a real ethical dilemma: short term versus long term, both are equal in value, it depends how you weigh each one of them.

I trust Hillary even if I don’t know her evaluation of the situation. Many people think having a democrat in the WH is the lesser evil.

I personally value a short term “bad” (McCain WH) is not as damaging in the long run as condoning a rigged election, allowing it to become standard procedure.

Just think: this is not rigging against another party, it’s going against your own. I have no words for my emotions today. I just try to reason and thus find solace that the pedulum will, eventually, turn into the oposite direction. Thank God for people like Heidi Li, Marc, Shtuey, Patsy, Larry, Susan and all those owning their votes, all those who speak up against this corrupt handling of the Primaries by the leaders of the Democratic Party..

The European tells more about your disagreement than the other topics of the convention. Not because they are ethical, of course, but it still serves to show that all is not well in Obamaland.

Today, on this sad day, I pay my tribute to all of you who oppose openly.

Comment by Diana L. C. | 2008-08-27 07:13:27

I trust Hillary, too. I think she way overdid the speach, especially the part about the spouses. It just seemed over the top. I think, in a sense, she knew that it didn’t matter what she said as long as she was being a “good little girl,” so she was really a “good little girl.” I did that kind of thing in elementary school when I wasn’t supposed to “act like a boy” on the playground. We all brought our dolls in and acted like “little good girls” until the teachers could tell we were mocking them.

She can’t help but be up on the blogs. She knows our minds. But she can’t be the one who blows the top off the caucus fraud, etc., because then she would be the harridan, whiner, sore loser. She knows it will come out.

I bet when she goes behind that curtain herself, she won’t vote for the Obaby.

Good Lord - What more do you want from the canddate that won the popular vote?

Hillary did everything right. This was a collective effort by party insiders to thwart the Clintons. The DNC stacked the deck with a few extra aces and held them all. And for what? To lose the White House in a year that should so easily be won? To force us to vote against a candidate instead of for one? It’s pitiful and criminal.

Historians will woner what we were thinking……

Now, there’s another name, Khalid al Mansour, who pushed Harvard grads to write letters of endorsement for Obama, virtually guaranteeing him entry into Harvard. His history can best described as “interesting” with several videos of him on YouTube. What/Who is next?

I will not be voting for Obama, who is as crooked as a corkscrew.

As an American it is my duty to vote. I will have to vote for the other guy.

Adlai Stevenson was a great American, and he gave you great advice. I will follow my conscience and vote for the patriot who loves this country and his wife who supports a foundation that helps children around the world.

Country above party and character above marketing; the DNC will pay for denying the American people a POTUS who would actually improve our lot. Remember in November the actions of the horsemen of the Democratic Party apocalypse (Dean, Brazile, Kennedy, and Kerry) and their evil henchmen (Axelrod and the MSM).

We are absolutely for Hillary’s beliefs, values, and principles. It is Barack Obama who is not. Barack Obama believes in Barack Obama, and nothing more. He values only anyone and anything that will help him in his lust for power and position. He hasn’t yet met a principle or person he wouldn’t throw under the bus if it helps him get ahead.

I want to vomit forever every time I see a mindless Obamatron who couldn’t stop eviscerating Hillary 24/7 with the most horrific behavior during this alleged primary that I have ever seen in any election cycle - bar none - and now wants to “support” her and use her unwavering dedication to the Democratic Party to club us over the head. How fucking dare you?

You aren’t fit to speak her name. You know nothing about her beliefs, values and principles. You and your civics-ignorant mob couldn’t stop trashing her, her record, and all she stands for while you were busy circumventing democracy to steal the nomination for Obama. How dare you try to use Hillary to get our support for a man who isn’t fit to take out her trash, much less be POTUS? Crawl back in your hole, please. You wouldn’t know democracy, the Constitution, or a true patriot if they bit you on your despicable ass.

Stop acting like you are so principled and superior. Trust me. You are neither.

Hey, just a quick note on HRc’s speech from one of your favorite local evil Obamabots. In short, I think it was a great speech from a remarkable human being, one that moved me literally to tears, and I think that you will now see a flood of Clinton supporters moving back into the Democratic column where all of us progressives so obviously belong. No sane progressive American can possibly cast a vote for a Republican in November 2008. Hillary’s message to you, all of you, could not possibly have been clearer: “nothing less than the future of our nation and the future of our children hang in the balance.” Bravo, Senator. I am moved to tears again, just writing this, at the thought of what Hillary has done for the entire world tonight. She has proved her greatness and earned all of our undying loyalty for the remainder of her career — and bear in mind, she will be younger in 2016 than John McCain is today, and Joe Biden ain’t going to be running.

What you will do with this, you hardcore PUmAs, is obvious: you will ignore everything Hillary Clinton has ever stood for and keep working to elect John McCain. Whatever. Your numbers will now dwindle, thankfully; I will just say nobody who will cast that vote, or any vote other than Obama, this fall are not worthy of calling him or herself a Hillary Clinton supporter.

Comment by Deep Truths | 2008-08-27 00:20:06

Hillary just confirmed, complimented our decision to go, to be about her candidacy. Couple that with the reason we are against BO; thin resume, longtime companions with the likes of Ayers, Wright, Iraqi infrastructure criminals, caucus intimidation, narcissistic cult-building, and on and on, and it leaves us RATIONAL THINKING PUMAs no choice but to praise Hillary and NOT vote for Barack America Hussein Soetoro Obama.

The Obama new Democratic Party is not the Democratic Party many of us joined to fight for equality for all. We fought the radical right against racism and sexist. We are not about to accept it from the new Democratic Party. Obama’s version of “progressive” means discriminating against individuals based on race, sex or age; count me and millions of others out.

Country before voting for a racist and sexist political party.

Comment by sfhillary | 2008-08-27 00:35:02

As I said above, I’m aware that none of you will change your minds. Hillary disowned you tonight, and she spoke from the heart and through Obama, she will prevail; as I said above, with tonight’s speech she has made herself the next Democratic nominee after Obama; in fact, her throwing of her support behind Obama was so passionate and articulate and spoken with such conviction that I now believe that she believes that she is more likely to become president in 2016 than in 2012. She did it tonight, man, she did it all. And the Big Dog will do it tomorrow night, and Obama will be worthy of their words on thursday, and the Democratic Party will emerge from this convention energized and united in our determination to defeat the Republicans, meaning you.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was presidential throughout her campaign, but most especially last night. I agree with her that we can’t accept another Republican administration. Remember, since Ronald Reagan was elected, with the backing of GE (parent company of MSNBC) and other corporate monsters, that we have had 20 years of the same conservatives in charge of our country. (And even holdovers, like Cheney from the Nixon administration.) Look at how they have stripped away our New Deal mixed economy for the benefit of the veddy, veddy, veddy filthy rich. How can we not suspect that some of this divisiveness is not the work of arch-conservatives, spewed by MSNBC and Fox News, like Karl Rove and his henchmen???? They want another Republican in the White House even if it is a pseudo-maverick like Sen. John McCain. If Governor Mitt Romney becomes vice president they will be ecstatic.
Let’s all ask for Providence to bless the DNC convention.
Maybe we’ll witness a miracle and the delegates from Michigan and Florida will put Hillary over the top during the roll call!

Comment by Grail Guardian | 2008-08-27 07:31:41

Actually, for once I agree with much of what you say SFHillary. And I am quite glad to hear that you are staring to appreciate Senator Clinton, even if you are a bit slow on the uptake. The truth is, if she had continued to fight the tidal wave the DNC has created for Obama her career would have been finished. She did not have the money or support (within the party) to continue her fight, so she did what was required to come back and fight another day.

The part I did not hear Senator Clinton (or anyone else) discuss, however, is what exactly is the plan to counter the myriad of problems that are about to come cascading down around the new Nominee’s head. After tonight, he has lost the shield of (the threat of) Clinton becoming the nominee or V.P. and the Republicans will be coming at him full force. The DNC and Obama have both shown themselves to be weak at combatting the arguments and accusations thrown out here at No Quarter and other web sites. There has been no forceful denial from the Obama campaign, and no proof offered to counter even the simplest of charges to deny (birth certificate, natural born citizen). Obama has proven himself to be an inadequate speaker when it comes to handling the few serious questions he has encountered from the MSM. I simply do not understand the game plan here. James Carville, discussing the theme of the convention, called it the best kept secret in the world, if there is one. I would have to say that title truly belongs to the strategy to fight the Republicans.

I personally do not like John McCain (although I abhor the Obama supporters who question his patriotism and suggest he was a coward or traitor while held prisoner in Viet Nam). But now I have a bigger quandry; who can I possibly vote for that has a chance of winning against him? Answer: No one. You (and your fellow New Democrats) took that choice away from me. So now I am faced with 4 more years of Republican rule, and have no one to blame for it but the Democrats (again). So I need to look at this from the perspective of who shall be rewarded with my vote. The people who have destroyed the first chance of getting out from Republican rule since Bill Clinton (they offered me Gore, Dean, Kerry - come on!) and who refused to impeach George W. Bush or extract this country from an illegal war (and before you throw out the Hillary voted for the war argument, go here: http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html and read exactly what she said when she voted) despite an overwhelming mandate from the people in 2006. Nope. Sorry. No can do. I consider it my patriotic duty to remove every Democrat (and Republican) from office that supported this fiasco. So not only won’t I be voting for Obama in November, but don’t look for me to vote for any Democrats for quite some time to come. If there’s a local or state candidate running that I support, I will be voting for them on the Liberal line (or Green wherever possible). If they’re not running on another line, they’ve lost my vote.

My deepest regret is that I don’t live in San Francisco myself so that I could start by kicking Speaker Pelosi out of office.

Your numbers will now dwindle, thankfully; I will just say nobody who will cast that vote, or any vote other than Obama, this fall are not worthy of calling him or herself a Hillary Clinton supporter.

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

Comment by Beth C. Taylor | 2008-08-27 15:53:37

Excuse me, but please define,”beatings.” Does this mean Clinton supporters will continue to be verbally abused and or have tires slashed etc. until they are beaten into submission? If so, morale will improve and reinforce a revolt against the Democratic Party leadership and strengthen the resolve of many of us to vote against Obama. Perhapse you did not get the memo. Obama supporters were supposed to make nice with Clinton supporters in order to get our votes. Actually, since Donna told us we were not needed, I do not see the urgency for all the angst to get us to convert. Your messiah just needs to stop lolling on Hawaiian beaches and cavorting on golf courses. Perhaps then he might actually show that he can campaign for hinself with the aid of his VP choice and let Hillary have a vacation. He’s already had two, one of which was while she was campaigning for him. Then she can get back to the Senate and continue working for the causes in which we believe like fighting against Fisa.

You other brothers can’t deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
‘Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she’s wearing
I’m hooked and I can’t stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get with you
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that butt you got makes me so horny
Ooh, Rump-o’-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
‘Cause you ain’t that average groupie
I’ve seen them dancin’
To hell with romancin’
She’s sweat, wet,
Got it goin’ like a turbo ‘Vette
I’m tired of magazines
Sayin’ flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell ‘em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!

God, this speech only made me miss Hillary more. The campaign is not the same without her.

Comment by Chicago Joe | 2008-08-26 23:12:03

I listened to Hillary and felt so sick to my stomach that we are stuck with BHO. She is so far superior and so outclasses him it isn’t even funny. And she is brilliant. She said all the right things, but managed to do it in such a way that her endorsement was more of the Democrats than the loser Obama. His selfish, sorry, egotistical ass is gonna cost the Dems this election.

Greta is breaking news about Ayers and Obama….the Annenberg Challenge. Obama was the chair, and Ayers was in another position of authority. Stanley Kurtz of the National Review proves that Obama is a liar (yeah, we knew that) with regard to his relationship to Ayers, and that in no way was he just a guy in the neighborhood. So Obama has not been honest with people about his relationship with the founder of the Weather Underground, the domestic TERRORISTS. Ayers and Obama were in the Annenberg Challenge (by the way, a total failure) working closely together, so he is a an out and out liar.

I agree 110% — she was awesome. She portrayed a real President of the United States — not some fake, corrupt fraud of a candidate. She said what she had to in order to please the DNC, but it was obvious that they had selected the wrong person. They handpicked some mediocre, unvetted man over a highly exceptional woman. What a mistake — wonder if they are crying now? If not Hillary, I will vote McCain. She did say that he was her “friend” right, so he can’t be all bad! Plus Obama obviously chose the wrong person for vp — my goodness, what is wrong with these people. Hillary outshines them all!!

Comment by makeji | 2008-08-26 22:51:33

I totally agree with you Carol. I cried and I laughed and I grimaced everytime she mentioned Obama’s name. She proved tonight that she is the one who should get the nomination. Crazier things have happened.

BTW, she never convinced me that I should vote for Obama, nor will I.

Comment by helen | 2008-08-26 23:46:45

She mentioned equal pay for women:
backtrack pays his female campaign workers less the the male workers.
McCain pays his female campaign workers equal or more than the male workers.

She mentioned help for veterans:
backtrack cannot even take the time to visit the wounded veterans without press coverage.
McCain visits veterans often and quietly.

She mentioned the energy problem:
backtrack voted for chaney’s energy bill.
McCain and Hillary did not.

I know she has to speak for a democratic candidate but backtrack failed every test.

If not Hillary then it has to be McCain for the good of the country.

Hillary proved to the DNC that they made a huge mistake in who they chose as their nominee. Good for her. She also reinforced my deep respect for her and that she should have at the very least been selected as VP. It makes Obama look like a moron.

But what I found equally moving was the interview with the Clinton delegate right after Hillary’s speech. I was surprised that CNN talked to her for so long but she was passionalte and essentially voiced exactly how I feel. As a delegate, she is voting for Hillary.

It is better to go is some direction than hem and haw and never decide, never put forth a program - that is Obama Il legacy. Comment by frenchman47 | 2008-08-27 03:40:51

I’m sorry but I’m confused. Sen. Obama, his cohorts and his supporters all insisted during the primaries that they didn’t need Hillary voters; particularly not her blue collar, white voters as they were putting together their own coalition of Independents , newly registered voters and would have the votes of all of the AA’s. Obama supporters have been heaping scorn, derision and hate on Hillary & Bill Clinton and on Hillary’s supporters for months now but suddenly you seem to think we should vote for your hero for the ‘good of the party.’ You all said you didn’t need us so why are you bothering us????

Also, given that Obama recently voted For FISA, has backtracked on his pledge to get All of our people out of Iraq by the end of 2009, now wants to redeploy troops to Afganistan, backtracked on the right of women to make decisions regarding abortions, has all but ignored gays and has now decided that providing federal dollars to religious groups is a Fine idea, and has voted for Every spending bill requested by Bush to continue the Iraq war, exactly how are his positions any different than John McCain’s??

We don’t have a clue as to what an Obama presidency would look like. He copied Every single one of Clinton’s positions during the primaries and is now basically doing the same with McCain. Now he feels it so necessary to cover up his lack of experience in foreign affairs that he’s playing the same ‘tough guy’ routine as Bush and McCain. When you don’t know a ‘feller’ very well to begin with, it sure doesn’t help any when he changes his positions as often as he changes his clothes. I don’t see how Anyone can make the statement that Obama’s positions are the same as Hillary Clinton’s - he ‘borrowed’ her positions during the primaries and has now backtracked on just about every single one of them.

We don’t even need to ‘go into’ his clear lack of judgment in associating himself with Rev. Wright, William Ayes, et. al. And obviously, he doesn’t have nearly as much self-confidence as his arrogant smirks would seem to suggest or HE would have put party over personal angst and at least Offered Hillary the VP position. So much for being a ‘uniter.’ As for being the ‘agent of change,’ he picked The most established insider there is in the person of Joe Biden. HMMMMMMMMMMMM acts more and more like a politician who will do or say anything to get elected - isn’t that what he repeatedly stated about Hillary Clinton??

I have been a proud Liberal Democrat since the early 1960’s but even I can’t vote for Obama Just because he’s the Democratic candidate. Nothing is Ever Obama’s fault and he displays a complete ignorance of foreign policy. Oh, did I mention that he seems to be on the cusp of sword rattling vis-a-vis Iraq?? But I’m supposed to ‘trust’ that Obama will do better with foreign policy than McCain would and that he will somehow not only know what to do to fix the economy but will ‘reach across the aisle’ to get his policies passed through Congress even though there’s NO evidence that the man has the ability to reach across the aisle to accomplish Anything. The man is simply not ‘ready for prime time’ and should have got some seasoning under his belt before running for the Presidency but he was So cock-sure of himself and of his powers of persuasion that he let his ego get the best of him and now we’re ALL going to pay the price.

I am SO ticked off that after 8 years of that miserable Bush, and with the office of the Presidency ripe for the Democratic Party’s pickings, the DNC elected to ‘annoint’ the weakest, least experienced candidate in the bunch. He’s a blank slate that the Republicans are and will have a field day making their marks on. Now that Obama is sinking in the polls, he and his supporters expect Hillary and her supporters to save his sorry butt for him. Hillary really has no choice but her supporters do. IF Obama does pull this off, it will be due in no small measure to the very people he flicked off his shoulders and played the race card with every time it suited his purposes - Hillary and Bill Clinton.

I’m so DAMN frustrated this election year I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Watching Hillary tonight, I did both.

Over and Out.

You Obamatrons are just WORRIED — as well you should be — because Hillary supporters have not blindly “fallen in line” with the DNCs “chosen one.” Now you are BEHIND in the polls for the first time because when your shining star picked BIDEN as VP, all of the Clinton supporters who had not done so already went flooding over to McCain. And, for once, WORDS are not enough — not yours, not Obambi’s, not even our beloved Hillary’s. WORDS are empty now. It’s too late. When you Obama supporters could have been gracious and respectful of Hillary and her supporters — when Obambi could have done the same — there were no WORDS. And now any WORDS you utter won’t save you.

Just like the “joke” McCain told at a fundraiser: Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Punchline: Because her dad is Janet Reno.

Yeah he’s all class. I am sure he didn’t call his wife a cunt even though a bunch of reporters where there and have independent recollection of it. Too bad the tape wasn’t rolling.

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain’s intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.” McCain’s excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.

Comment by wry | 2008-08-27 00:09:56

Yep, That is a negative on the Pro/Con chart for McCain.

But comapre it to the negatives on Obarky Ibama Soetoro and it becomes downright mild. Just a normal bad moment that all humans have.

Now if McCain was doing it on a weekly basis for 20 years, you might have a stronger point.

I don’t think that is exactly accurate, in fact he followed it up by saying “I respect Senator Clinton”. The truth is McCain and Clinton respect each other and are friends (regardless of what she was required to say tonight). He was caught off guard and didnt respond right away. I think Hillary should choose country over party and if she believes all the things she said about Barry during the election then she should sit this one out. The Clintons are big enough to survive the fall out.

Michelle lost the sparkle she had last night. Big time. Anyone watching could see her seething. Looking like she was ready to jump out of her seat and attack Hillary…she hates both Hillary and Bill. LET’S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT “DOUGLAS” & OBAMABOTS:

Hillary was by far the strongest Democratic candidate…embarrasingly so. She won more votes that Barack Hussein Obama and more votes than any other primary candidate in the history of our nation.

I supported Hillary to the maximum degree, both financially and in my actions for her candidacy. I am proud of the campaign she ran and even more proud of the lifetime work and committment she has given in service to our country.

HILLARY CLINTON was my preferred Presidential candidate…
SHE IS NOT A GOD,
SHE IS NOT MY EMPEROR;
SHE IS NOT MY PUPPETEER
SHE IS NOT MY CULT LEADER.

Hillary has the right as a Presidential Candidate and American citizen to state her beliefs and I have the right as an American citizen (with a legit birth certificate to prove it) to disagree and vote and voice MY Presidential preference.

The freedom to make up my own mind based upon my own thought process and conscience is my right under United States LAW. This is exactly WHY Hillary is NOT responsible for the choices of her 18 million prior votes. FREEDOM OF CHOICE.

Hillary would be the first American in line to support every fellow American’s right to vote their own conscience…and to state that every one of those votes SHOULD COUNT.

I am a TRUE American citizen and the welfare of my COUNTRY comes before PARTY loyalty or loyalty to ANY candidate, even Hillary.

NO ONE OWNS MY VOTE BUT ME… AND MY VOTE WILL BE FOR JOHN MCCAIN.

You Obama haters just have to find something to attack the Obamas on. I think her key message was that voting for McCain would be a grave error and would run counter to all the causes she championed and the beliefs she holds, and in fact, it would be a slap to the entire purpose of her campaign.

Anyone who values her judgment and leadership needs to listen to what she’s saying. Voting for McCain would be like throwing Hillary under the bus, since she has expressly stated that a McCain vote is antithetical to everything she stands for.

Comment by Taj | 2008-08-26 23:02:13

Too little…too late-
You never gave her a chance to begin with.
You never knew her or what she stood for.

Wait until after November 2008.
Then you will taking back much more than you can imagine right now…

I respect Sen Clinton however I am terribly disappointed in how the DNC handled the whole campaign process from the vetting (or non vetting) of Sen Obama, FLA & MI, Caucus situation, and forcing delegates to support Obama when the popular vote in delegate’s state indicated Sen Clinton won.

I was waiting to hear Sen Clinton’s speech before I made a decision.

As of this evening, I am STRONGLY considering renouncing my Democratic party membership.

However, I am waiting until the delegates vote.

One thing I know for certain is that I will not be voting for Sen Obama in November.

Comment by dee4hill | 2008-08-26 23:56:59

For me, the journey began when the Chicago Machine started labeling Bill Clinton a racist. Then, the
Obama-Dean-Pelosi cabal started calling for Hillary to step aside.

But when the DNC coronated The One and in broad daylight, broke their own rules, and strong-armed and paid off delegates to support him… I made up my mind then. Bill and Hillary could knock on my door and beg me to vote for Barky and I’d have to say, “Mr. and Madame President, I have the utmost respect and admiration for you, but even you cannot change my mind.”

Just as they strong-armed the delegates, they’ve strong-armed Hillary to be a “team player.” They have, more than likely, threatened her political future unless she “plays by their rules.” I can’t blame Hillary for any of this.

But I can cast my vote for McCain and wait patiently for four years, when the STAR of the Democratic Party comes back, and with the loyalty of more than 18 million we will claim what we want for our future. HER…

McCain ‘08 - Hillary ‘12!!!

She looked fantastic! And seeing Bill’s love and pride just made me cry. These two people ARE the core beliefs of the democratic party - the FDR democratic party. They embody so much of what the true democrats are.

What has happened!?!? I just refuse to vote for the DNC’s hand picked choice. Had they left the rpimary alone and let the process play itself by the people, things would be much different.

You know with the dem majority for the past two years, there is no excuse for things to be as bad as they are now. It is our democratic leadership’s failings almost as much as Bush/Cheney.

I thought she knocked it out of the park. The video was awful (as in very good) because I feel we already lost the election. The election was in the primary, now it’s a matter of tweedle dee, tweedle dum and you can tell by the other speeches. Americans need more training and education? Are they kidding me? The United States has the best higher education in the world and the most highly skilled people in the world. What’s going on has nothing to do with any deficiencies of the American people and I personally find such claims outright insulting to all Americans.

Comment by vjhinFla. | 2008-08-26 22:49:01

HUH??? We may have the best HIGHER Ed. but certainly not our required K-12 Ed. And judging from behaviour of so many people on the internet lately, we are in a downward spiral. No manners, no respect and most people have no writing and grammar skills anymore. I don’t mean the typos - most are clueless about use of puntuation.

But I agree: the loss of the election was in the primaries. The dems once again have got the wrong candidate. I think gredd has taken over this country - and the world.

Comment by JimmyM | 2008-08-26 22:21:46

If, as Larry says, “we cannot trust Obama on the issues” because “he has no core”… then isn’t Hillary also sellout for supporting him so strongly?

Even if Obama is a “sellout” who “has no core”… it will be easier to push through the legislation on the issues that Hillary wants with him as president. That’s what Hillary cares about. President McCain would never sign universal healthcare, but (as Hillary said in the speech) President Obama will.

Comment by athy | 2008-08-26 22:39:19

JimmyM
You are making too many assumptions.
“It will be easier to push through legislation on the issues that Hillary wants with as president”

W H Y?

Sen Obama throws people under buses and his decisions are based on political expediency. What is politically expedient for him to do today might not be politically expedient for him to do tomorrow.

Look at how Sen Clinton was treated during the campaign.

LIFE LONG LOYAL DEMOCRATIC LEADERS WHO STOOD WITH HER SHOULDER TO SHOULDER OVER THE YEARS TOSSED EVERYTHING ASIDE AND SIDED WITH OBAMA EVEN THOUGH THEIR STATES CHOSE SEN CLINTON IN THE PRIMARY???

Look how the DNC ran this campaign. Are they going to run up to him IF he gets elected and say “Sen Obama But…but…you promised…you promised you wouyld support Healthcare legislation ”

And then …we…the citizens…are supposed to ’suck it up and get in line and stop whining…
-for the good of the Democratic party. Oh yeah- I see that happening.

What on earth do you base your opinion on in that Sen Obama will push through her legislation?

Look what he did about FISA. Look at his track record.

I will not vote for Sen Obama in November.

We are not a freaking movement. We aren’t Hillary worshipers. We just knew she was absolutely simply the best. And you know what else, we OWN our votes.

We all have different plans on Nov. 4th, and those are subject to change for those of us undecided.

Now is the time to celebrate HILLARY! And tomorrow, we are gonna give Big Dawg some love too.

He’s a pretty damn fine speaker himself and he knows how to run a country too.

Watching Hillary, it’s obvious to any sentient being that she is ready to lead and she is “The One” this country needs right now.
Obama is nothing but a poseur fraud who needs to collect prestigious titles in order to make himself feel that he isn’t such a worthless sack of excrement. He needs to go around telling everyone within earshot that this election is not about him because deep inside, he knows it is all about him.

I grew up in the 1960’s and well remember the rebellions of the day. I recall how it was popular for anyone under 30 to be anti-establishment, anti-war, anti-anything that was not youth related. I am not surprised that the Obots are clinging to Obama after discovering all of Obama’s rebellious connections. He surrounds himself with old kids that raised hell in their younger years and they still hang on to those feelings. No wonder old hippies drool over him.

The Obots are simply rebellious kids (be they old or young) that need a god to drive their rebellious nature. It is why Obama cannot stand on a issue for long, why he shifts his stance all over the the political map. He is a child with no core.

Øbama voted to allow young Americans to die when he opposed a bill which prevents the killing of infants mistakenly left alive by abortion. Øbama also strongly criticized the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban. I am sure the ramifications of his votes on this issue have killed more young Americans state-side than the brave young Americans we’ve lost in the Middle East.

I am 100% pro-choice but I certainly don’t agree with infanticide. Allowing a baby, who is a product of a botched abortion, to die after it has been born is murder. Why is Øbama so ruthless against these young Americans?

If you are going to defend young Americans you have to defend all young Americans, even the tiniest and most helpless of them all. Øbama sure as hell doesn’t.

Sen Clinton presented no conflict for us. Sen Obama is not good for our country.PERIOD.

Comment by mimi | 2008-08-26 23:56:30

I believe in fairplay. I believe in truth and honesty. I believe in one person one vote, in democracy and our right as a citizens to choose the candidate we care to support without any kind of faschist strongarming, bullying tactics and violent threats.

I believe in the US Constitution. And in the Checks & Balances of our government.

I want a president who has experience in government, foreign affairs, who is knowlegeable of the world not from an academic standpoint but from an actual one. Someone who can think on their feet and understands diplomacy. I want a president who can admit when they are wrong and stand up before the American public and say that. Someone who doesn’t take the worst elements of our society and use them as a way to make a statement. A human being who can be triumphant in victory and more important gracious.

I stand for myself first and foremost and I know that life is often filled with hard choices. I’ve seen enough presidents to know that the politicians when running for office will say anything to get elected. Once elected, they have only their character and good judgement to rely on when confronting domestic problems, the US Congress and the various world leaders. Presidents can certainly make a huge impact on our lives, but more often than not they can’t make radical change because the Constitution is structured in a way to prevent that.

The next president, even if it was Hillary is not going to have an easy path. Pay no attention to all the stops both Parties are pulling out. When the Inauguration is over, and after the first 100 days, it will be back to business as usual. The only surprises will be the unexpected events, like 9/11, like Hurrican Katrina, an earthquake or any natural disaster, a stock market crash.

I want the best person in office that has the goods to deal with all of that. I’ve accepted the fact that we will never get Universal Healthcare until those of us who want it, get off of our asses and make enough noise and protest until the pharmaceutical companies, the insurance industry and the goddamn doctors realize we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore.

One of the reasons Hillary was sabotaged was because of the interests regarding healthcare. That pretty much sums up where the 2 remaining candidates stand on the issue. Both McCain and 0bama are safe bets for the special interests. We will be having the healthcare discussion still in 2012. It really is up to us.

I see nothing in 0bama as a politician, an elected official, a private citizen and as a man. He wants to get elected POTUS. He looks good to people tired of Bush and those who hate the Clintons. He’s a biracial man who counts on his black half to seal the deal. He’s relyling on the historical stain of slavery to make his case and the desperation of AAs who just want to feel equal.

He is a conflicted, master manipulator. And I will not give my vote to someone whom I know in my gut to be wrong for this job.

If Hillary, McCain and 0bama were applying for a job in my dept., I’d hire Hillary, keep McCain’s resume on file and shred 0bama’s. Hillary’s just too damn smart, not to want to have on my team.

The perception of character counts in elections. In fact, it may count more than “positions.” Positions can change, and with Obama, they frequently do: Anti-FISA/vote for FISA; Public campaign financing embraced/Public campaign financing dumped, etc., etc., etc.

To look for clues as to what a candidate is truly about look to his actions. Obama has repeatedly shown disrespect to Hillary. He tends to place trappings of power above political substance. (Witness: fake Presidential Seal; reproduced Greek Temple setting for acceptance speech; Yea gads!)

I could go on and on in this way but why bother. It’s really a difference in our perceptions of this man. You see him as special, while to me he looks much more like horse meat.

She did all she could for the party.

Even though the Party machine in no way deserves any of it after what they did to her.

She spoke to the Democratic party as it should be not to the dirty party that it has become in selecting Obama.

She showed them what a true party leader looks like and acts like.

Her Gretness of character no way transfers to the shitbags who pulled off the stealing of the nomination.

I Love her for her courage and her loyalty even more than i respoected her for being such an astute intelligent and focused politician.

I am sorry she got stuck with some horrible campaign managers in the beginning.

I am sorry the DNC had the fix in for Obama since 2005 and spent so much time and enrgy screwing Hillary to get their Selected Fraud up in front of the american people.

I regret that the MSM has turned into the Pom Pom Panty Girl Brigade rah rah rah-ing for Mr Gosh Darn Good Looking instead of worrying about who really is best to lead our country.

But most of all I regret knowing all that i know now about Obama and his dirty past, his lies, his flip flops, his lack of accomplishments, his climing on the heads of greats to steal the limelight, his arrogance and presumptiveness and his cult like taking over of the many many ready to be pod people of america.

Because of that I have to say again. I love you for who you are Hillary. You make us proud as democrats.

I wish I could say the DNC makes us proud, but no matter how many times they put the gun to your head and trot you out to convince us that your greatness, your class, your loyalty should be transferred to them, they have not earned it. In fact this election season they not only squandered it they spit on it.

While her speech rings authentic, I feel like in doing her best to build Obama up, she’s reminding people that he has many, many steps to climb to get up to her level.

MO was probably worrying about it too with all the sour looks on her face.

Post-Hillary’s convention speech–I have heard the most excellent speech of this electoral season by the front-runner of the democratic primary who should be our next president. I have voted in 10 presidential elections, but I possibly won’t be voting at the top of the ticket in 2008. We Americans may be described truthfully by Hillary, but many of us aren’t good citizens and don’t put the best leaders in the White House. We learn to regret our choice years after the election when we could have studied the candidates and make wiser decisions. We could have avoided these times. We could have been sage stewards of our futures. We could have taken this country to greater heights yet. It was possible.

Hillary’s brilliance just PROVES to us that Obama should not have been the nominee. Asking us to support Obama are just words to me. They have no meaning because he is not a legitimate candidate and this entire year he has always depended on Hillary to cross the finish line. Now he is counting on her to unite the party. I just can’t take this sh*t anymore. After tonight I am more determined than ever before to vote against Obama.

So the American soldiers who will die in Iraq because of McCain’s policies should just “wait” too? So the mom with cancer who has no health insurance should just “wait” too? So the unemployed worker in Ohio should just “wait” too — so you can stomp your feet and pout for 4 years?

What pure, unbridled selfishness, Puma Az!

Was there something about what Hillary said about what a disaster a McCain vote would be that didn’t come through clear enough? How can anyone claim such deep respect for her judgment and then just toss aside her strongly held and emphatically expressed judgment on this election?

Not sure how anyone could listen to that impassioned speech from Hillary and decide to go against everything she said — everything she stands for, and has worked for, and will continue to work for — and decide the hand the presidency to another Republican. It just does not add up, folks.

Comment by Mr. X | 2008-08-26 22:58:00

Obama does not stand for anything. Even if he says one thing or votes one way, he’ll flip his position whenever the wind changes. Take away Hillary and with Obama you’re left with literally nothing, not even an empty suit. This is for your future. Please step outside your bubble. I can’t believe that speech did not resonate with you.

To vote for Obama is to destroy any possibility of Universal Health Care because Obama will mess it up and people won’t give it another try for a very long while. Hillary has faught for it for 30 years and you think a 1 and a half year Senator will do what no one else has been able to do??? That he’ll succeed where Hillary has championed her cause for all those years??? That suddenly, he’ll have some kind of revelation that has escaped Hillary all this time??? This is where experience matters.

There are things at stake much bigger than your favourite candidate. Hillary represented true leadership. She represented the future that rightfully belongs to all of us. But that will not happen now. This is why people were in tears. What could have been!

Comment by baba yaga | 2008-08-26 23:10:24

You don’t know my favorite candidate is.

I am a huge fan of Hillary Clinton.

I’m also a lifelong Democrat.

I’m not voting for John McCain. I’m sorry the Democratic nominating process is messed up. I’m sorry Hillary isn’t the Democratic nominee. But she’s not, apparently.

I’ll stay with the party, try to fix the party, fix the nominating process, and pressure folks in power to keep their promises. That is what Hillary asked all of us to do.

But join the Republicans? Vote McCain? Nope. I won’t do that.

Comment by Steven Mather | 2008-08-26 23:00:40

Yes they are. And what’s sad about that is that they can go on youtube and find the actual clip of the statement Michelle lied about and listen to what President Clinton said with their own ears.

The man’s reputation has been irrevocably damaged in the AA community. And the really crappy part is that neither 0bama or Michelle care about what they’ve done. They have an almost self-righteous indignation about it.

This is a huge problem for a lot of voters who might possibly be persuaded by Hillary. But apparently, it’s not important enough for the 0bamas to deal with like adults as well as politicians who have a vested interest in achieving a goal. I mean - he wants to be the president, not me.

Now personally, I don’t find that to be savvy. Am I not to conclude that this doesn’t speak well in terms of his leadership ability?

Great speech by a true POTUS. She spoke loud and clear to what the Democratic Party is supposed to be about, but no longer is. She never mentioned anything about Obama’s lack of experience. She never mentioned Obama’s bad character. She did what she needed to do without lying about Obama’s qualifications, none, for POTUS.

We saw two great Presidents tonight - Hillary and Bill.

I will never vote for Obama - country and democracy before party. I will vote for Hillary this year or in 2012.

Actually, I don’t trust BO at all…everything comes out from his mouth is not true. Show us your REAL birth certificate. You can do that if you are not hiding anything, Obama. I keep asking myself….why there are still so many people who are supporting him? Please someone explain to me, please.

Comment by BJinChicago | 2008-08-27 00:02:49

Nope, she did not lie. She did what she had to do with more class than GWB has shown during his two terms or BO during the primary. The Democratic leaders have made a grave error, and they will pay big time in November.

Grace is not the same thing as submission. It takes courage to admire and respect and love someone, while simultaneously acting upon real differences of opinion. I respect her opinion, but must ultimately make up my own mind. This is a very difficult situation, and to just tell us to “follow our leader” doesn’t help, no matter how much it may seem like a simple prescription to you.

I understand; if I wind up voting for McCain, it will be with extreme reluctance. There are no good answers here.
