Ayers Was NOT “Just a Neighbor”

ayers.jpg

  • The American Issues Project, a 501(c)4 organization, prepared and released on August 21st a very damning video of Obama and his association with terrorist friend and colleague William Ayers. The increasingly shrill hysteria by Obama and his supporters over this video is very telling. According to Ben Smith writing in Obama to DOJ: Block terrorist ad at Politico on August 25th they are even now asking the Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation to stop the ad. Previously they sent threatening letters to media attempting to get them to refuse airing the ad. Obama even put out a response ad that, as MarketWatch notes, “fails to dispute a single fact about [his] relationship with domestic terrorist, William Ayers.” That is,

    • Obama worked for and with Ayers
    • Ayers helped start Obama’s career
    • Ayers hosted political fundraisers with and for Obama

Greg Sargent calls the ad “slimy and vicious” in Swift-Boat Group Sinks Nearly $3 Million Into Ad Tying Obama To Ayers at TPM ElectionCentral on August 25th but completely fails to address whether the ad is true or not. As I wrote in a responding comment at TPM:

“Slimy”?! Nothing incorrect about the ad. The “vicious” truth hurts but Obama has around 20 years with Ayers—who he worked for, who helped launch his political career, and much more. Ayers is not, as Obama lied, just someone who lived in the neighborhood. Maybe not a friend but definitely not a stranger.

Stanley Kurtz at National Review has been exploring Obama and Ayer’s relationship with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and has found access to the non-profit’s records are blocked (and since released, at least in part, according to Steve Diamond, law professor and political scientist at Santa Clara University School of Law at his blog Global Labor and Politics.)

    ayers-cartoon_edited-web.jpg

    Obama’s Ayer by Pat Racimora

In recent days Obama’s relationship with Ayers has gotten a lot of discussion. Chicago Mayor Daley was dismissive “They’re friends. So what?” But as Bud White wrote at length in The Vetting Begins at NoQuarterUSA on August 22:

The strength of the ad is its accuracy. Unlike the Swift Boat Veterans for Truthís ads, there is no available counter-argument. Bill Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist. Obamaís political career was launched at Bill Ayersí house. Obama did serve on the Woods Fund board with Ayers. The ad hits Obama hardest on his self-proclaimed good judgment. As law professor Steve Diamond states, Obama wasnít just friends with Ayers, he wasnít just a guy in the neighborhood, he was Obamaís benefactor for 20 years.

Previously, Steve Diamond, also writing at NoQuarterUSA in “The Obama-Ayers Top Ten: Highlights of 20 year Obama-Ayers Connection:

If you take the Obama campaign at its word, the contention that there is a relationship between Bill Ayers and Barack Obama is “phony,” “tenuous,” a “stretch.” In Obamaís own words, Ayers was “just a guy who lives in my neighborhood,” certainly not a long time close political ally.

But a review of just the publicly known highlights of the Ayers-Obama relationship suggests a twenty year pattern of connections between the two.

At the heart of this “Top Ten” list is the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Ayers founded and Obama and Ayers co-chaired for five years, raising and spending at least $110 million in an effort to bolster a “radical” (Ayersí word) reform program in the Chicago Public Schools from 1994 to 2001.

    Steve Diamond’s Top 10:

    1. Out of the Woods: The Woods Fund financed the hiring of Obama in 1985 by the Developing Communities Project.
    2. Know your ABCs: Obamaís DCP supported radical school reform project together with Bill Ayers.
    3. Putting on the White Shoe: Obama and Dohrn worked for elite law firm Sidley and Austin.
    4. A hard rock miner: Chicago lefty lawyer and Dohrn classmate Judson Miner hires Barack Obama out of Harvard.
    5. Rising to the Challenge: Ayers is named Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge founded by Bill Ayers.
    6. In the Palmer of his hand: Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn host Obamaís state senate kick-off in their Hyde Park home.
    7. The “lost years”: Ayers and Obama to the rescue of troubled youth. [Note that Diamond not only links Barack with Ayers, but also Michelle who organized and hosted panels with the Barack, Ayers, and herself.]
    8. The “R” word: Obama advisor promotes a reparations approach to education reform; Ayers endorses it.
    9. A toast to the maoist: Bill Ayers long time comrade Mike Klonsky blogs for Obama.
    10. The Great Debate: George v. Barack.

A full reading of Steve Diamond’s article at NoQuarterUSA and his additional writing and updates on his own blog, Global Labor and Politics, is highly recommended. Diamond backs up his writings with extensive references.

Back on March 22nd I wrote what turns out to be a very incomplete commentary on Obama and Ayers “What is Obama’s Relationship with Ayers, Dohrn, and Khalidi?“:

Obama is/was friends, colleagues, and apparent neighbors to former leaders of the Weather Underground who carried out violent bombings in the U.S. While you don’t have much choice over your neighbors, Obama’s relationship with terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn is potentially reflective of his character, judgement, and patriotism. It also reflects a lie from Obama’s campaign and supporters which offered that they only met once for introductions in 1995.

To the contrary, Obama joined Ayers as directors of the private Woods Fund of Chicago from 1999 through the end of 2002. Through this group, they apparently gave money to a group founded by Rashid and Mona Khalidi, former PLO members. And, the Khalidis subsequently hosted fundraisers for Obama’s 2004 Senate race.

Obama’s ad today offering response to the AIT ad was (1) misdirected to McCain and (2) tries to excuse Ayers because Obama was only eight years old. It does not say anything about Obama’s relationship and his lies about it.

It would be very interesting to hear Obama explain how one introductory meeting is the same as a multi-year working relationship with unrepentant American terrorists wherein they jointly gave money to apparently former PLO terrorists who then hosted fundraisers for his Senate campaign.
Obama can try to ignore or even attempt to bully folks in not looking at his relationship with Ayers but it won’t work so long as he is pursuing the presidency. At the end of the day he must explain his past, else accept the very damning portrayals groups like American Issues Project have to share with prospective voters.

    Additional Reading:

Credit: Pat Racimora’s “Just a Guy in Barack’s Neighborhood” drawing was originally featured at NoQuarterUSA on May 7, 2008.

Update: Stanley Kurtz is now reporting in interview on FOX that he gained access today to the Annenberg Challenge documents that had been recently withheld from him. His conclusions from this initial viewing:

Ayers and Obama were, in core, this start-up organization
Ayers and Obama worked very closely together, many meetings and more
    Very clear foundation failed
Next question is where did Obama and Ayers spend the money
    Obama was not truthful
Kurtz repeated multiple times, “Very bad.”

Even worse than Hillary being robbed of the presidency is the fact that we, the American people, were robbed of having Hillary as our leader. She is the inspiration and patriotism that we have been waiting for. With her as our president, we could have risen to our true God given potential. Rise Hillary!

I also wrote Hillary a letter this morning. I know as intelligent as she is, she totally gets why we can’t vote for Barack no matter what she is politically forced to say.
We all have to do what we have to do. i am voting for McCain because I believe him. i don’t agree with everything he says but I know he does. I know John McCain doesn’t decide who he is today according to the group he is speaking with. I will take integrity and stability over a shot in the dark and Who Knows? anyday…PLUS William Ayers is not the only crazy affiliation this guy has! The Church affiliations, the ACORN groups, and especially troubling the African connection…I believe he is a lot like Bush in the fact that George W. seemed hell bent on finishing a war he obviously felt his father left unwon. He didn’t want to rest until he had gotten his revenge on Saddam Hussein and he used 9/11 as an excuse to do it (McCain reminded us it’s Osama bin Laden we should have been after), like Bush, Obama stays tied to Kenya and it’s political scene. He blames the death of his father on the Tribal problems and the internal struggle between the Islamic and Christian factions within his fathers tribe. He has campaigned and heavily donated money to a political campaign there that erupted in violence against Christian villagers in Dec. 2007 and lasted until late Jan. 2008. Obama has used his influence as a U.S. Senator to insert himself in this situation previously and will continue to wield even more influence as POTUS. Do we want to end the war in Iraq only to engage in a Political War involving U.S. forces in Kenya?
I am sorry Obama’s parents abandoned him as young child. I am also sorry that their inter racial marriage seems to be such a source of continued distress and confusion for Senator Obama, but this is an American election and this country needs someone who is fully engaged and invested in America’s best interests . Perhaps Sen. Obama would be better served to relocate to Africa and provide real leadership to the tribe that he feels needs his attention and interventions. I wish him no harm, I just feel he will do harm to the American people if elected to head our Country. I love my country too much to see that happen. McCain08/Clinton12

Liz, I have been processing for awhile what you pointed out. BO has a void in his heart, a void that is normally filled by parents. He needs to feel loved and admired, which is why he chose to run for a position he is unqualified for. Perhaps, just perhaps, in his own mind, POTUS would fill that void. The man will be hurt again.

My hope for Senator Clinton is that she will be Secretary of State in the McCain Administration. She would be fantastic in that role.

    Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-08-27 16:16:48

I don’t think Hillary can have anything to do with the McCain administration, or her speech last night was meaningless and false. She is a great woman and an inspirational leader, but she must remain with the Democrats. I could be wrong, though, and in this case that would be a good thing.

While Obama was sitting as Chairman of the Chicago Annenbug challenge doing the bidding of Bill Ayers, he was also sitting in the Illinois State Senate, passing legislation supporting Bill Ayers laundry list.

Who is stupid enough to not think that this would also happen if Obama became POTUS?

Was this also when he was funneling government funds to Rezko to worsen the living conditions of his constituents?
Was this also around the same time he helped stack boards to manipulate monies, including IL teachers pension funds, and demanded kickbacks from investment firms in exchange for the approval of their proposals.?
Was this also when he was committing money laundering and accepting a monthly salary from a client, Robert Blackwell, that was not acually a leagl client of his?

He is telling us loudly and clearly what he will do with American taxpayer money.

    Let’s see:
Ayers was ‘just a guy in the hood’
Rezko was a ‘guy he did 5 hrs of work for’
Blackwell a ‘guy who was his legal client’ for which he provided no evidence other than including Blackwell’s name on a complete client list of his employer

Not only is he shady, not only is he completely dishonest with the voters(including his supporters), but he has the audicity to deny, ignore and lie about facts that are documented.

What level of mental incapacity would allow a person to say someone he’s known and worked with for more than 20 years, in a public fashion no less, was just a guy in his neighborhood.

Did you see Dick Morris after the first night of the convention with Bill O’Reilly? He was saying Obama made a mistake by going with Biden and he should have gone with Sebelius because it would have mollified Clinton supporters if he had picked a woman. What an idiot! He still doesn’t get it! Even O’Reilly told him if Obama had picked Sebelius it would have been even more offensive to Clinton supporters. I personally would not have voted for any ticket with Obama on it, even if Hillary was VP, but if he had picked Sebelius you would have heard a YO SCREAM all the way from Washington State. That would have pissed me off to the nth degree.

Obama wasn’t 8 years old when allowed Ayers to help launch his political career and fund raise for him.

Also, the Obama campaign is touting his living overseas as a child as proof of his ability to get along with and understand other cultures. Funny how they leave out his living in Indonesia as a result of his mother’s marriage to and his adoption by a foreign national.

Additionally, Obama was a child when the March on Selma happened. Yet that’s being touted as proof of his Civil Rights creds.

Now think about that for a minute — you give one group free educations while the rest struggle to send our kids to college and you can see that in 20 years you have redistributed the wealth of this country.

Ayers and Darling-Hammond both hold the same opinion on a key education policy issue: support for repayment of centuries of “educational debt” to people of color.”

“Bill Ayers endorsed the proposal for the repayment of the centuries of “educational debt” that some allege is owed to people of color. This is a proposal that Professor Darling-Hammond has also endorsed.”

Professor Darling-Hammond is an education advisor to the Obama campaign.

re: the Ayers/Obama education reparation plan?
If this is true-then we need to spend more time on the Ayers/Obama relationahip AND the following needs to be investigated further.

What MIGHT happen-in this day and age in the US- if you give one race free and clear education while you make economic conditions so poor that other racial groups-especially in the middle class or poor categories can not afford education - this action (reparation in form of free education)will promote great antagonism between the races.

Racism exists-yes-no question. Major problem in Us & world but the solution chosen will determine whether we can learn, change & move on….or we all wind up killing each other.

There are some people out there who dont care if we all wind up killing each other.

Read these articles-come to own conclusions…

Although the topic of race was brought up constantly in this campaign by Sen Obama & his handlers, the topic of reparations for slavery was never discussed.

What is Sen Obama’s position on this issue?

Interesting article (see below) which may allow us to infer what Sen Obama’s position on reparations issue MIGHT BE:

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/128633/page/1

“When Barry Became Barack” by Richard Wolffe, Jessica Ramirez and Jeffrey Bartholet
    NEWSWEEK 3/31/08 Issue

I found this story very interesting however I was quiet surprised when I reached the last page.
The author recounted a story that was passed on to Sen Obama by white family members concerning an incident at a waikiki bar involving Sen Obama’s bio-dad Barry Sr.
“Barry’s white grandfather and several other Hawaiian friends take Barry Sr. to a Waikiki bar. It’s a joyous scene, everyone eating and drinking “to the sounds of a slack-key guitar,” when a white man with a booming voice announces to the bartender that he shouldn’t have to drink “next to a nigger.” The stunned clientele expects a fight. But Barry Sr. smiles and quietly lectures the man “about the folly of bigotry, the promise of the American dream, and the universal rights of man.” In response, the shamed white man gives Barry Sr. $100, in apparent payment for his sin of racism. Even the young Obama found the tale hard to believe. But many years later, he recalls in “Dreams From My Father,” he got a phone call from a Japanese-American man who had been a classmate of Barry Sr.’s in Hawaii. Unprompted, the man told Obama the same story. Obama says he was struck by the man’s tone of “disbelief—and hope.”

Then-when I learned how the Alinsky method works-I realized that “Gives barry Sr. $100″ part of the article was just keeping in line with convincing certain classes/races of people that they dont deserve what they have, make them feel guilty, and ….???? Promote antagonism between the races-The old divide and conquer theory. Keep us all fighting with each other so that we cant come together as one and challenge the “Real enemy (ies)?” There are different theories out there as to who the real enemy is (are) so I will leave it here.

In the past, Sen Obama supported the very controversial 3rd ward Ald. Dorothy Tillman in her runoff against an independent candidate. Tillman is one of the most important and outspoken U.S advocates of reparations for slavery.

What about Sen Obama’s position regarding reparations for slavery from western and ex-colonial European powers for Africa and African nations?

During the 2001 UN-sponsored World Conference against Racism, many African nations demanded an apology-plus other things- from ex-colonial European nations for the role they (European nations) had in promoting the slave trade. Why doesn’t Sen Obama ever discuss this very important ‘race’ issue.

Someone definetely needs to look into this…We will learn much about what is really driving Sen Obama’s candidacy…yes he wants to be president-and many people want him to be president …why?
When all the dust settles-what does Sen Obama feel REALLY STRONGLY about? What is important to him in his (and his immediate family’s) heart and soul. WHo or what has he been associated with the longest amount of time throughout his life?

I just heard Mike Allen, of The Politico, report that they are going to let Bill talk about what he wants to tonight…the economy. This ought to be good. I also just heard Bill Kristol ripping Hillary because he didn’t think she didn’t do enough to promote Obama for president. He said she made it all about herself instead of Obama. He is such a schmuck. Hillary’s speach was just fantastic! She looked like the president up there. You couldn’t even tell she was reading off of a prompter. She is just a natural.

    Comment by mimi | 2008-08-27 11:49:18

As well they SHOULD let Bill Clinton talk about the economy.

If they have any chance at all bringing voters into the fold it’s on the economy.

For all you Botheads cracking about the 90s are over, we KNOW that!!!

But guess what? The first decade of the 21st century has been far from a prize. Since the 90’s were just a decade ago and since American prosperity was good during the Clinton years, it’s the only example we have in recent years to pull from.

0bama and his supporters need to grow up and stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

He’s not going to win without reconcilliation.

The fact that he seems to not be able to deal with that does not give credence to his ability to lead.

Well, I don’t suppose that it should surprise me that you guys are aligning yourselves with Republican groups. Apparently you are a bunch of DINOs.

If you somehow manage to have Hillary’s name placed as the nominee, please count me out of this one.

I won’t vote for someone who lied about Bosnia, went back on their written and spoken word vowing not to have anything to do with improperly set up elections, can’t properly manage their own campaign, uses the old Republican style of attack dog politics, lies about how many votes she got, poses as whatever she can to get votes and changes her image as often as necessary to get more votes and who stays with a man who has a long record of humiliating her with his sexual antics, making it plain that her marriage is simply one of political expediency.

If that’s the case, I won’t be voting this election. And before you cry ‘misogyny!’, please note that I am a Democrat and live in Washington State. I have no problem voting women into positions of power.

    No, thank you.

    Comment by candymarl | 2008-08-27 10:57:11

So I guess being referred to as a b*tch, c*nt, and a wh*re are okay with you. That’s what happened with Hillary. If that’s how you support women candidates I’d hate to see how you react to women candidates you don’t like.

    Comment by Joe Lang | 2008-08-27 21:00:09

So, did you miss the part about being in Washington State? Did you miss the part about voting women into a position of power?

I don’t give a rat’s ass if Hillary is a woman. In point of fact, if she had run a campaign that was worthy of being elected as the candidate for the party, I would have been very pleased for such a historic moment. I started out, as a matter of fact, being a Clinton supporter.

But she lost me with the way she ran her campaign. I’ve seen way too much of the Republican Noise Machine, Hannity and Limbaugh and all the rest practicing the politics of distraction and destruction. Also, her constant carping and complaining about things, (Why do I always get the first question?), was not very pretty at all. Playing the victim role is not something that is conducive to being Commander in Chief. That’s how she ran her campaign and that’s why she lost it.

It was a huge shame that that happened. What an opportunity to lose, and what a sad thing to lose it. She just didn’t bring it, not in the right way and not with the right message, so, lose it she did. And, she lost it on her merits as a candidate, not on her merits as a woman.

BTW, where in my post did you read me referring to Senator Clinton in that fashion? You won’t find it because it’s not there. If that’s what happened to Hillary, that’s a real shame and shouldn’t happen to anybody. However, that is not a valid reason for voting someone into office. I’m certainly not supporting Senator Obama because he’s black, I really don’t care if he’s purple or puce. I care that he ran a good campaign, that he treated his opponent like a human being instead of a tackling dummy, that he concentrated on the issues, that he had the courage to stand in front of the country and say that he couldn’t deny a man who was like family to him, putting his entire candidacy to the people to decide if they still wanted him. The answer, by now, is obvious. Many others appreciated his candor, his courage and his viewpoint of the race as something that was political, not social.

So, if you’re going to bring that stuff up, then let’s see some proof. Let’s see some examples. Let me see what you’re talking about and judge for myself. You can contact me at obamadebates111@gmail.com. If you’re only interested in being rude, please don’t send anything. If you’re interested in talking to me about what I think, I’m very very interested in talking to you about why you feel the way you do. I’ve tried to engage Clinton supporters this way, to no avail, so I’d given up on the idea, and, sadly, become ascerbic.

    I apologize.

So if you’re willing to explore the issues, I would really really like to find out where you’re coming from. I promise not to be abrasive, I’m very interested in your position. Please.

    -Joe

Hell, Barack is afraid to go to Denver for his own convention. He hid in the living room of a nice white family in Kansas City.

    And this:

In his first race for office, seeking a state Senate seat on Chicago’s gritty South Side in 1996, Obama effectively used election rules to eliminate his Democratic competition.

As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.

The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

“That was Chicago politics,” said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. “Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice.”

    From here:

We all know the deal here. Now he has done this to Senator Clinton. It’s disgusting.

Note the Obama letter asks stations to name a time they can talk in person about accepting AIP ads. Bring in the thugs! This is how “community organizing” works. You pick up a bunch of unhappy people from the street (or a bunch of people whom you’ve have convinced to be unhappy by telling them how the government is trying to “get” them) and then you show up in someone’s office and unleash these unhappy street people on them. It’s called intimidation. It’s called “Chicago politics.”

I can forgive the two former WU members Clinton pardoned; they served their 16 years in the slammer, while this asshole and his bitch wife ran around under aliases until rich daddy could get them off with a good lawyer. Bill Ayers is a POS. Is now, always was and will be. He bragged about setting off bombs and said he wished they’d done more. In case you ever wondered what elitist means, it means thinking you’re better than people - like those who abide by the law of this country. Obama hanging out with this guy poses a real problem. It seems he doesn’t abide by the law these days, anyway, if all this money laundering and bribes and embezzlement is true. To think this guy is a teacher makes me sick.

They’re building a Greek Temple on-stage for Obama. Not only could I not look at that, but the mere idea of it makes me nauseous.

But after learning that Frank Davis with whom Obama spent formative years as his mentor, and in adult years still would visit for “long conversations”, was not merely a communist but a seriously disturbed bisexual pedophile and pornographer, in addition to the fact that both of his parents abandoned him…I’m starting to realize that Obama is seriously mentally unstable. His sexual liasons with Donald Young, Mr. Bland (both murdered), Wright, and Sinclair, his megalomaniac ego, extensive drug use, are all indicative of a very sick person. Sicking the Bidens on Sinclair is right in line with how he’s treating the 527 Ayers ad, by seeking criminal charges. This is Stalinist intimidation tactics of the highest order, and he’s not even in power. His message is clear: Expose Me, Risk Persecution (or worse).

He would put Mugabe to shame with FISA and his personal civilian military force that he has said he wants “as well funded as the current military”. Can anyone spell “secret police”?

Excellent overview of the facts that all Americans need to see and reflect upon.

When my Obama friends say, “Oh, Obama was only 8 years old when Ayers and Dorhn were doing all of that bad stuff,” I add that both have never backed away from the rightness of the terror they heaped on our own people. So, what judgment is Obama showing if he wanted to become a public figure in hanging out with people like this? Judgment is important in a President.

It was fun to see my cartoon brought out again, and notice the date. I have wondered why it took so long for this story to get some real legs. Hopefully more people will be paying more attention now.

Pat, while you are correct in principal I would like to add that we ASSUME Barack was only 8yrs old when his terrorist freinds were on a murder rampage. We still do not have a COLB, and it is very likely that Obama is much older than he appears to be (his African-Arab genes do not age the same as ours). I wouldn’t rule out that Obama was not involved with the Weatherman Terrorist Attacks of the Radical 60’s.

Many African nations employ children as young as 6 yrs old in their vicsious battles. Now, I am not saying that I have irrevocable proof right now that Obama played a role in the murder of police and firemen in the 60’s, but from waht I’ve seen so far it seems somewhat likely that he may have been involved.

It’s funny that despite her support for Obama at the convention that’s still not good enough for Obama fans.

Despite the fact that Obama promised to help erase Hillary’s debt he’s only raised a few thousand.

Obama has managed to raise millions for himself and Hillary has raised millions for him.

But that doesn’t count. Because Hillary kept her word and Obama hasn’t. That makes her a liar and Obama the victim.

    I don’t want a perpetual victim as President. I want a leader.

Matthew Weaver, thank you for putting all these recent facts together. And thanks to Steve Diamond and Stanley Kurtz for developing the details. But was Hillary robbed of the nomination because of the Ayers issue? No, I don’t think so. She was robbed because of: 1) Dean’s stacking the delegate apportionment and the timing of state voting (excluding FL and MI as early voters while including smaller states); and 2) Obama’s cheating and vote theft of the early caucus states that the DNC refused to investigate.

What is Hillary’s responsibility for her defeat? In terms of the above, she has none. And without these corruptions of the Dems, she would have won the nomination, hands down.

However, her campaign had to know many of the outlines of the Ayers story. I found it by beginning my research in January, mostly using Google. It was clear then that the authoritarian left wing of the Dem Party was taking over. Where was Hillary and her campaign on this issue, especially because she was representing moderate-liberal, moderate, and centrist Dems — the majority of Dems? I believe this is a very serious question, because she was the best of the best of the Dem candidates. Why is it that only Republicans seem to be able to fight for what they believe in? (Take another look at the Swift Boat ads re Kerry’s war sevice — many of them were not false!)

Our campaigns take a long time because we are a huge, diverse country and voters need to know who the candidates are. Obama was never vetted and Hillary, as far as I could see, did not fight to get that vetting out. (I am not excusing the corporate shills CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, AP, Time Mag, Newsweek Mag, “progressive” blogs, NYT, LAT, the list goes on and on. At least we now know who they are and what they are about and it is not about investigative journalism or news.)

In my next candidate for President I want a fighter for truth, people, and country from Day One.

Obama is DANGEROUS…This is from an American Expat in Southeast Asia

“Barack Obama can fight back all he wants and accuse his adversaries of bigotry and racism, he can coerce a compliant and malleable mainstream media to do the same, he can publish long-winded rebuttals and set up websites to “fight the smears” and when worse comes to worse he can always threaten his opponents. Why not… it is what they would do in Indonesia.

I’ve seen many people over the years here in Southeast Asia who have dared to speak out, many who were imprisoned, bankrupted or beaten for simply speaking out. I’ve seen many who have been denied both political and religious freedom and I’ve seen their oppressors employ the very same exact tactics that Barack Obama is employing. The accusations of bigotry and racism, the state-controlled media and ultimately the threats.

Like Barack Obama, I’ve lived in Southeast Asia, albeit a long longer than Obama did. But unlike Barack Obama I’ve never been subscriber to cultural or moral equivalency nor have I felt compelled to deride my own country in a a pathetic effort to establish that equivalency. I know that deriding my own country overseas only emboldens those who deny freedom and liberty to others. As an advocate of American exceptionalism, I’ve always felt myself compelled to spread the message of what is good about America rather than what is bad”

OH! It is not a fluke. McCain still leading Obama in Gallup today by 2 points and their studies show he is losing Conservative Democrats to McCain.

    AND

Rasmussen today shows more support for McCain.

It is not going the other way folks….and THIS IS DURING HIS CONVENTION.

Rasmussen shows a tie still on registered voters, but on LIKELEY voters, McCain leads by 1.

(CNN) — A new national poll suggests there’s a reason why Wednesday evening’s theme of the Democratic convention is “Securing America’s Future.”

A new poll finds that Sen. Barack Obama trails Sen. John McCain on the issues of terrorism and Iraq.

Without better marks on foreign policy and national security issues, presumed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama may have a tough time securing his future in the White House.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Wednesday indicates that the American public considers presumed Republican presidential nominee John McCain better than Obama on terrorism and Iraq, and voters consider McCain a stronger leader who would have better judgment in an international crisis.

Fifty-eight percent of those questioned think Obama can handle the responsibilities of commander-in-chief, but that pales in comparison to the 78 percent who feel that way about McCain. The Forum: What’s your view on national security?

By a 51 percent to 41 percent margin, voters regard the senator from Arizona as the stronger leader, and they think he would have better judgment than Obama in an international crisis by a 52 percent to 43 percent spread.

    Hillary as the nominee,
    or McCain it will be.

Didn’t I read somewhere that Obama and Ayers babysit each other’s kids? If so that makes for a lovly image for another Repub commercial. Why it’s two-fold: how chummy the darling couples are and how wonderfully protective the Obama’ are of their children. (Question: has anyone asked Obama what the names and ages of his children are?– just wondering if he could get that one right.)

Also the Obama-lie that Ayers is an English teacher.
Yeah, we know Obama’s stupid and all. But he did sit on the foundation with the terrorist-piece-o-shite
for a lot of years. Just wondering if the Obama crowd is considering using Obama’s drug use as an excuse. “yeah, Senator Obama got that one wrong… but you see he got hold of some bad crack…”

    Comment by bemused | 2008-08-27 12:18:20

Ayer’s children are much older, ~ 19 yrs. BO/BS said they went to school together. Not so likely, nor the babysitting. I think it was one of the Middle Eastern friends like Khalid who was the friend and whose children were baby-sat by Michelle, but could have been the other way.

Ayers has put a racialist stamp on his politics for several decades. He was part of the leadership of the Weather Underground group in the late 1960’s that broke apart the Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS. He argued then, as he does now, that “white supremacy” is the original sin of American life.”

So Ayers launches Obambi at Ayers house and nobody is worried, I’m terrified what these two have planned in their collective sick minds!

It is now clear as crystal to me that voting against Barack Obama and voting for John McCain will not be enough! With friends like Ayers, combined with his ties to Rezko, black separatist radicals, and Muslim terrorists - WE CANNOT AFFORD TO HAND THE COUNTRY OVER TO HIM! Hillary was very clear about this last night.

In order to fully reverse the tide against this MANIAC, I now know what must be done. I implore all of you, the fate of our nation is dependent on this - WE MUST VOTE A STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET in November!!!

I believe many of you will see the truth next week when watching the GOP convention. The GOP is the party of freedom, hard work, and American values. The Demoncrats are now the party of Ayers, the 60s radicals, the pro-Islamofascists, and abortianist/godless deviants. It is not just Obambi - it is the whole party!!!

The only hope for us is to VOTE A STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET in 08, in order to temporarily sink the Democratic Party. It will be like a baptism of sorts, and hopefully a new party can emerge in 2012 that will actually stand up for the soldiers fighting in Iraq, and the millions of fetuses that are murdered each year.

Once we abondon the ship for the Republican Party the Democractic Party will sinks, and the rats will drown with it. From here we can split off in 2012 to give a rebirth to a new, more poweful Democratic Party with Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea at the helm! You’re right, they don’t care, and that’s what is so frightening. The DNC is going to put a black man in the White House regardless of his qualifications because all of those white liberals get a warm feeling from the image. What could be more patronizing?

You, as a soldier, understand the need for meritocracy. You know the difference between serving under capable leaders and under idiot careerists. Your life depends on it. I’m sure that you’ve seen both; so have I.

The American President, like it or not, is the most powerful individual position in the world. He cannot afford to think that anything that he can influence is above his pay grade. That is the easy out of the lackluster mid-grade bureaucrat. The President doesn’t have that luxury. One of our late Presidents said it best: “The buck stops here.”

Some may paint Berg as a crackpot, but this II Amendment bombshell needs to be defused and settled now, during the convention. He WAS adopted by Soetoro and his name changed. When did he change it back to Obama legally and where is the paperwork? How did he get back into the country, under which name? He was registered as an Indonesian national in school. He did travel to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport, not an American one. That use shows that he claimed Indonesian citizenship. That makes him a citizen of Indonesia after the age of 18, not America, unless he can prove taking the citizen oath after that. I do not think he can. At any rate, I think that makes him ineligible.

Soldier 4 Hillary - thank for your service. I’m sure that you and many others in our fine military are backing John McCain 100% - he supported increased funding for vets when OBAMA DIDN’T, he supports victory in Iraq while Obama wants us to LOSE.

I can understand your feelings of being stabbed in the back by Obambi. But I think the conection we know about vis a vis him and Ayers is just the tip of the ice berg.

We ASSUME Barack was only 8yrs old when his terrorist freinds were on a murder rampage.

Now, I am not saying that I have irrevocable proof right now that Obama played a role in the murder of police and firemen in the 60’s, but from waht I’ve seen so far it seems somewhat likely that he may have been directly involved. DO WE REALLY WANT TO GIVE THIS MAN CONTROL OVER OUR MILITARY, WHEN HE HAS ALREADY ATTACKED OUR CIVIL SERVANTS?

    P.S
I know this is like a Republicans wet dream that all of this is coming out to sink Obama’s ship. However I am sure everything they are talking about now is something the Republicans have known all along. So they are no better. Because if THEY cared as much for this country they would of said something on day one. Despite the fact the Democratic parties intent seemed as if they were attempting to sink there own boat.

This is why people dont come out to vote. Because you give them this bullshit and then they find out the truth. Especially since this has been known from day one. The entire Democratic party damn near came out to lift Obama up. Putting there political careers on the line by stating one after the other that we need to “elect” obama. He cant even close the deal himself, it took others to talk about why he should be elected.

    Comment by bemused | 2008-08-27 12:24:43

I’m with you on the Republicans having moral culpability if they knew something disqualifying and didn’t bring it out. The argument that it was up to the DNC to vet him and they didn’t, doesn’t wash. It looks like it would have been hard for them to get past the lies and misdirections. To say, too bad, we’ll put the country at risk because Howard Dean is a fool, is like saying, Well, I saw that guy slip a quart of gasoline in his handbag when he was getting on the plane, but why should I tell anyone? I don’t agree with you. Why would it have been the responsibility of the Republican party to disqualify him even if they had the information? It should have been Obama’s own party that put him up that should have done the vetting. I was a Dem (until June 4th) but even I can see the reasoning as to “why would the Republicans want to cut their own throat?” If the Democrats had had the same information they would have sat on it until it was too late to do anything about it just like the Repubs are now. Yes, they’re all morally bankrupt but don’t blame the Republican Party for the Democrats trying to pull the wool over our eyes and slip Obama past. The Democrats did that all on their own and if there is stuff in Obama’s history that comes out and sinks his ship it is the DNC’s fault and no one elses.

Soldier 4 Hillary - this is about much more than just Barack [REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR] Obama. Before the new (fake) Democrats attakced Hillary, they were busy attacking Bush and the GOP. Think about it! Who was the most vocal critics of Bush and our soldiers before the 2006 elections? It was the DKos nuts, elite college people, Hollywood actors, and the radical liberal left. When Hillary stood up to them, they wasted no time taking her down. What’s worse, they confused many poorly eduacted and easily manipulated blacks into thinking that the Clintons were racist, just like they convinced many poor blacks that Bush and the GOP were the reason for Katrina!

The Republicans have NO culpability when it comes to Obama - and are doing everything they can to lower the price of gas, win the war on terror, and improve the economy. The Republicans have been the victims of the radical, American Hating Left for just as long maybe even longer than Hillary. In the future I believe they must - and will - join forces to defeat this unholy alliance!

    Comment by Retired | 2008-08-27 12:48:08

Both Republicans and Democrats have known about these issues for some time. Republicans have been biding their time, waiting for Obama to be safely nominated so that they can defeat him and win. That’s political strategy.

Democrats, however, are knowingly perpetrating a fraud on voters by nominating Obama without verifying his eligibility. They are hoping that his election will, de facto, nullify the Constitution. And these include a lot of people who have taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, just like you and I.

Who is worse? Good question. This is the best country on the planet, so I guess we may have to head off to Mars and start our own thing. If the Martians don’t object, that is.

    Soldier,
You probably already know my stance on Moral Equivalence so I’ll just ask this…
Hypothetically, if the shoe were on the other foot and let’s say the Dem’s were the ones who had been forecast as the guaranteed losers of both the presidency and a host of congressional seats, and, all of a sudden, the Rep’s were to run a candidate they hadn’t adequately vetted. Your side finds out that he’s got something in his closet that will definitely destroy any chances for his election. What you know would wipe him out even before a nomination.
You have had victory handed to you on a platter when you were about to eat a certain poopy smelling sandwich.
Knowing that partisanship, heavy handedness, and a congress that is going to outnumber you and has stated already that it intends to rub your nose in it every chance it gets, What do You do?
Now think about all the Dem’s in congress right now who, by embracing Obama and abandoning Hillary to the wolves, are on our shit list right now. Think how the Rep’s view them and put yourself in their strategic shoes.
Remember “Monthy Python and the Holy Grail?”
The Rep’s have been given the “Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch” and they are going to let it go when they know it’ll do the job and not one second sooner.

Obama: If You Attack With Ads That Are True, I’ll Have You Investigated

Obama threatens tv stations airing ayers ads.

    American Issues Project

The Obama campaign has launched a new ad that fails to dispute a single fact in the American Issues Project’s initialad questioning Barack Obama’s relationship with admitted domestic terrorist, William Ayers.

“This response ad is more smoke and mirrors from a candidate desperate to obscure his long standing relationship with admitted domestic terrorist William Ayers,” said Ed Martin, American Issues Project’s president. “Senator Obama is pretending to barely know the man who hosted the launch of his political career and with whom he has worked for years to advance a liberal agenda.”

Sen. Obama has defended his friend Ayers as “respectable”and “mainstream,” despite the fact that Ayers has continued to trumpet his role in the Weather Underground bombings. On September 11th, 2001, the New York Times reported him saying, “I don’t regret setting bombs … I feel we didn’t do enough.”

The Obama campaign’s response comes one day before the University of Illinois at Chicago is set to release the records of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a nonprofit organization co-founded by Ayers whose board Obama chaired. There cords are expected to shine new light on the relationship between Ayers and Obama.

The American Issues Project’s ad began airing Thursday, August 21, and will continue through the Democratic Convention. An electronic version of the ad and full documentation of all statements made are available at American Issues Project’s website: http://www.americanissuesproject.org.

Targeting Obama/Ayers and Chicago school reform

Karl Rove’s boys have stepped in and taken over McCain’s resurgent campaign. They want to turn the election into a referendum on Obama’s patriotism and his supposed ties to ‘60s radicals like educator Bill Ayers. They certainly don’t want the election to be a referendum on the Republican’s last 8 years in office.

So they’re spreading the word that Obama is a closet “socialist” (Manchurian candidate) and have dredged up swiftboater Jerome Corsi’s trashy book Obama Nation to spearhead their assault. They’ve also enlisted a handful of wing-nut bloggers who continue to recycle their own lies about Obama and others (including myself) in this latest Rove-inspired disinformation campaign, reminiscent of the 1950’s red scare.

Along with trying to frighten undecided swing-state voters, the wing-nuts have also targeted school reform efforts and the old Annenberg Challenge in Chicago, which they claim were all part of the Ayers-Obama socialist conspiracy from hell. Their lies include: 1) Obama was the chair of the Annenberg Challenge Board and directed its funding; 2) that Ayers was on the board; 3) that Obama gave thousands of dollars to Ayers. Not a word of any of this is true.
    ———–

What a joker this Mike Klonsky is, lol.

Mike Klonsky got a $175,000.00 grant from the Annenberg Challenge in 1995 for his Small Schools Workshop, lol.

READ THIS A LIE SOME MORE MIKE KLONSKY:

“Finally, when you suggest that Obama played no significant role in directing the Challenge, are you suggesting that as chairman of the board of a major non profit corporation in the state of Illinois, that Obama had a hands-off attitude? That he was NOT aware that the Challenge was signing off on, for example, a $175,000 grant to Ayers buddy Mike Klonsky, as they did in 1995 for the Small Schools Workshop Klonsky was recruited to head up by Ayers? That suggests to me a problem of fiduciary duty. Quite unlikely for a Harvard Law School graduate - and frankly, more worrying for me about Obama if true.”

It sounds like he’ll change the calendar year too - as in 1 A.O., 2 A.O., etc… This man is a legend in his cult-members’ minds. The rock-star rallies only preach to the coverted. The rest of America is going to be turned off by this, maybe even frightened. It’s starting to sound like a Nuremburg rally…Obama coming up from the stage, like Elvis or James Brown…wow….will there be a band too? IS THIS POLITICS OR SHOW BIZ? Really a bad idea and another “rock star” moment in his resume. Why aren’t they getting it that Americans don’t like this grandiose display? Well if the Greek columns aren’t enough showmanship, he can always borrow Apollo Creed’s old star spangled boxing trunks and descend upon the stage like Apollo did right before he fought the Russian in Rocky IV………………I remember seeing another speech given in a stadium on a stage with tall columns as a backdrop.
Speaking of display….how about Michelle’s angry mug on the screen?
McCain should stand on a little oil platform (no columns) to give his speech.

Obamas is dirty around the edges, that mean that he gets his hands just dirty enough without getting into deep, then he say to everyone, when everything comes down ” It was the other guy not me.”

Networks just said there was no smoking gun in the Ayers info and due to the lawsuit ABC, CBS,NBC,CNN,MSNBC and FOX will not air the ad about Ayers. Looks like Obama wins again. He knows the law, doesn’t he?

The AIP video is from a tainted messenger. But, that said, it does not change the validity of the facts covered and equally available elsewhere. Let Obama take comfort in sidetracking AIP for what good it may do him.

I am helping write a follow-on post to my post here that will explore Obama’s relationship with Ayers, explain what is at issue, and why it matters.

Politicians by nature have many questionable associations. Need I remind all of you about the many scandals that rocked through the GOP of late. There is not a candidate that is completely clean.
If you are all so fearful then be sure to join the GOP and join the crusade. I for one want to make America strong again through the power of postive action. By making America strong from within (better education, heakthcare, infrastructure and responsible regulation)we can once again become a leader in the world for others to emulate, not hate. The GOP had it’s turn and failed. Maybe with a Dem in the office the GOP will start to work with others and we can get the job done.. It will take both parties. The one-party go it alone revolution has failed.

So handing the keys to the White House to another corrupt and inept politician will help America…how? No, only by telling both sides that ‘we’ve had enough and we will vote your sorry asses out of office if you piss us off’ will things change. McCain is also taking score right now…if he sees how pissed we are at our base, he will be more likely to work with us. It’s voting blindly that let’s politicians on both sides get away with murder. They count on complacent nitwits like you.

Comment by Kelvin Hearts PUMAs | 2008-08-27 17:03:01

No. They count on irrationally angry people like you. He knows that you people are to angry to be reasoned with, he plays on that. He knows that you can be easily manipulated by promising you something, and once elected, offering nothing. He is nothing more than a neocon pawn, just like you will be if you cast your votes for him.

    Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-08-27 17:10:53

McCain isn’t promising anything but to safely lead this country while we are in two wars and an economic crisis. That’s why we, for the majority of commentators here, like McCain because he is more moderate than Bush and his record shows that. There are no surprises with him. If voting makes one a pawn, I would rather be McCain’s than Obama’s. And after all, that is what Democracy is - electing the best person to lead you.

    Jann-

Politics does make strange bedfellows however-what are his motivations for these friendships? Personal financial gain? Career support? We know a candidate needs support when running for office BUT how will the candidate ‘pay back’ this shady group of supporters if he wins the presidency? What will they expect from? People motivated by many things in life-not just money. Ideology for one…

Take a look at these bedfellows in the facebook link below. Many are in it for the money however but not all of them are in it for financial or career gains. Some of them pose a downright threat to the political, economic, social spheres of our country.

I can not…I will not vote for a political candidate who has such a shady background-someone who the american public knows next to nothing about EXCEPT what he wants us to know about him as per what he has written in his books???

    http://www.barackbook.com/

Obama facebook-learn about Sen Obama’s personal and professional friends, mentors, associates. This facebook is well-done. Very accurate. Just google any of the names on the facebook and learn more about these people. The facebook entries are well-sourced, welldocumented and they are NOT exaggerations…This is VERY frightening…

I do not want any of Sen Obama’s associates getting ANYWHERE near Washington DC…But based upon his track record-If Sen obama wins in November- all these people will have access to our government, our constitution, our Bill of Rights…

By the way- we dont even know if it is legal for him to run as president of the USA. Are you not just one bit curious about this???

There is evidence that Sen Obama may hold dual citizenship- among other things…According to our constitution, a person holding dual citizenship can NOT run for US president.

    What are you afraid of?

The real reason that the MSN is not following this because it’s bogus. There is no “there” there. If there was something to it, Faux News would be all over it especially during the DNCC.

    Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-08-27 16:47:26

Yeah, just like the MSM was all over that Iraq had WMDs thing and Bush was just a great down home guy to have a beer with thing.

Comment by Kelvin Hearts PUMAs | 2008-08-27 17:10:19

I too am against the Iraq war and Bush. That’s why you should not let you anger that Hillary did’t win cloud your judgement. McCain is more of the same. A Neocon puppet that will keep us at war and let Big Oil ans the military industrial complex continue to profiteer and nation build.

I’ve got pictures from 2 parties here in chicago with all of them andmy husband and myself. These were from fundraisers for our children’s school. Barack’s girls go to school with my girls. Their girls are adorable and sweet. We have sleepovers between our houses all the time. When we met them, we had to agree to a nondisclosure agreement. my husband is an attorney and would probably have me sued and divorced if I gave away the pictures or any gossip. The Obamas are nothing if not calculating. My husband says they’re legally sophisticated, I call them ruthless.
