Quibbles and Bits - Aug 26
By LisaB on August 27, 2008 at 2:30 AM in Current Affairs
1) USAToday has an article outlining Obama’s friendship with Bill Ayers. Not much new to NQ readers, but perhaps to those not fully engaged in the election process yet. The article does talk about the American Issues Project, a 527 producing an ad about the relationship.
American Issues Project spokesman Christian Pinkston says Ayers’ influence is an open question, but “it’s hard to see how one actually could resolve having any sort of relationship with an admitted, remorseless domestic terrorist.”
The ad notes that Weathermen bombed the Capitol and asks why Obama would “be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it?”Read the rest ->
•In 1995, Ayers hosted a brunch for Obama, who was running for the Illinois Senate.
The ad says this meeting launched Obama’s political career. Quentin Young, a physician who was there, says it was a typical Hyde Park event and to imply otherwise is “guilt by simultaneously being in the same place.”
•In 1997, they were on a juvenile justice panel sponsored by the University of Chicago. They were on a 2002 panel on intellectualism that was co-sponsored by the Chicago Public Library.
•In 1997, the Chicago Tribune published a blurb from Obama about books he was reading. Obama said he was reading Ayers’ A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court.
•From 1999-2002, both men were on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago foundation that makes grants to arts and civic groups. Obama left the board in 2002; Ayers remains on it.
Laura Washington, chairwoman of the Woods Fund board, says suggestions of close ties are “an attempt to demonize Bill as a way of damaging Barack Obama.”
•Ayers gave $200 to Obama’s 2001 state Senate campaign.
2) The Corner, at NRO, has an interesting bit. As usual, it’s not the crime; it’s the cover-up.
Here’s Obama’s problem with regard to Ayers. When he was asked directly, Obama described Ayers as just a guy who lives in his neighborhood. We know that’s not accurate. Before we get to the place where we can ask, “Why does Barack Obama have a relationship with an unrepentant terrorist?” we have to ask, “Why is Barack Obama not being forthcoming about his relationship?”
3) The Sun-Times continues to follow the Rezko scandal back in Chicago. Apparently, Rezko’s sentencing date is now Oct. 28 - a week before the general election.
4) Also at the Sun-Times is a follow-up story to the “Uncle Tom” kerfluffle. An AA Hillary supporter, Delmarie Cobb, says Emil Jones, AA IL state senator and political mentor to Obama, called her an “Uncle Tom.”
Just in case you don’t know, calling someone an “Uncle Tom” is pretty much dropping the bomb in the AA community. So, today, the Sun-Times reports that the IL leader of NOW called for Jones to resign.
“I’ve never heard anything as awful or as sexist or as racist as to call her that for supporting Hillary,” said Clinton delegate Gay Bruhn, another NOW member in Illinois who called for a public apology from Jones.
Jones tried to play off the comment as “doubting Thomas,” but there were witnesses who aren’t buying THAT.
“Last night, I was called an ‘Uncle Tom’ by Emil Jones in the lobby of the hotel, right in front of [Ald.] Freddrenna Lyle and [Ald.] Leslie Hairston and [Ald.] Latasha Thomas,” Cobb told the Sun-Times on Sunday. “I walked over to him and asked him, ‘What did you just call me?”
Lyle, alderman of the South Side’s 6th Ward, said she was standing with Jones when the conversation took place in the hotel lobby, but she dismissed it as Jones engaging in harmless banter with someone he knows, although Lyle said she told him, “Emil, that’s bad even for you.”
Another of the aldermen who was standing in the lobby added, “He said it in jest.”
The mayor later supported Jones’ version of the event. As the embarrassing episode rippled through the Illinois delegation here, Mayor Daley, weighed in and suggested Jones simply misspoke.
“I think it’s a misuse of words. There’s no ‘Uncle Toms,’ anybody supporting Hillary, Obama. It’s just a mischoice of words,” the mayor said.
Awwww. Boys will be boys, won’t they?
5) Rasmussen has a stunning poll out.
Nearly half of Democratic women (47%) say Barack Obama should have chosen Hillary Clinton for his running mate instead of Senator Joseph Biden as the former First Lady prepares to speak tonight at the Democratic National Convention. Thirty-nine percent (39%) disagree.
But a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that a sizable majority (57%) of Democratic women believe that Obama is the Democratic candidate who will do best against John McCain in the November election.
OK, so nearly half say Obama should have chosen Hillary. ANd JUST OVER half said he is the best Democratic candidate? That’s a lot of women who feel Obama is NOT the best candidate. . . .
6) Realclearpolitics echos this.
A new USA Today/Gallup Poll finds that only half of Clinton’s primary supporters say they “definitely” will vote for Obama. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll put the number at 52 percent. More alarmingly for Obama is the 30 percent of those polled who claim they will vote for McCain, someone else or just stay home.
When discussing the Biden pick, the author includes this bit.
And there is a noteworthy difference between Biden and Clinton: The loquacious Biden entertained the press corps for a handful of primary debates before dropping out; Hillary persuaded 18 million primary voters to support her.
So then why not Clinton? If you erode your theme of “change” by choosing a longtime Washington insider, why not pick the one who can unite your party?
Perhaps a clue can be found in the words of Nancy Pelosi, who said Democrats need to “begin anew.” At a convention that will feature Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, John Kerry, Joe Biden and maybe Ted Kennedy (in order of most annoying), who can argue?
“__________ we can believe in.”
7) Bob I-see-phalluses-everywhere Herbert of the NYT, sees racism in the polls, in anyone not voting for Obama and in old white people in general.
Surmounting it will be tough. Not only do the polls show this to be a close race, but the polls, when it comes to Senator Obama, cannot be trusted. It is frequently the case that a statistically significant percentage of white voters will lie to pollsters — or decline to state their preference — in races in which one candidate is black and the other white.
That is offensive on so many levels, I don’t know where to begin. But, he goes one further:
The race issue can come up in peculiar and jolting ways. After hearing that some union voters had openly wondered about Senator Obama’s possible “demise,” I asked Dan Hammersmith, president of Unite Here Local 748 in Grand Rapids, if workers were really talking about whether Mr. Obama could survive as president.
—————————
Over the weekend The Detroit Free Press ran a chart showing how people responded when asked if they agreed with the statement that “there are people who want to hurt Barack Obama because of his race and sometimes I fear for his safety.”Fifty-seven percent agreed.
Hmmmmm. First Herbert says polls aren’t useful and white people lie all the time. Then he ends his piece with a “pithy” little comment about a local newspaper “poll.”
But we’re supposed to believe THAT poll implicitly and believe it shows Obama in mortal danger from racists.
So, Herbert continues to stoke the white = racist theme AND the assassination theme. Stay classy Bob.

Here is the ridiculous argument the minions make - even after explaining that their annointed one does, in fact, continue to have a friendship with a known terrorist - “Obama was 8 years old when that happened.” Idiots.
“A man is known by the company he keeps.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Yes and because he in unrepentant, the charge is just as good today as the day the carried out his terrorist activity.
A lot of us were radical back then but rather than bombing, we engaged in the “back to the land” movement and organic gardening, began to live more healthfully and drug free, organized..not bombs but recycling, local health clinics, and on and on. You didn’t need to be destructive to want to change the way things were done. And, most of us wised up politically and elected WJC to the WH twice.
The CIA is also responsible for domestic terrorism, as well as terrorism around the world.
The CIA brought crack into inner cities, among many other crimes against Americans.
Larry Johnson was in the CIA.
Ergo, given the ‘logic’ [sic] of this site, Larry Johnson is far less trustworthy than any friend of Bill Ayers.
But do trust trolls? ROFLMAO!!!
No doubt you’re going to convince everyone who reads NQ to vote for the Chicago pol, the fraudulent candidate, the empty-suited manchurian candidate…..
No one with any sense of history or allegiance to democracy will ever vote for BO.
Now run along little sheepie.
ur fking kiddin me? The cia did what???? (links?)
Hello? Anyone gonna refute this BS???
why the hell would the cia bring crack to the inner cities? the same way they would create aids?
(and did the cia push their lungs in and out for them so they could suck it up their nose too?)
what a bunch of royal horse manure
(Larry you put up with moe-ron haters like this all the time?)
The Gospel according to Reverend “Uncle” Jeremiah Wright….
Who wasn’t radical in some way during the late 60s and early 70s?
And then we grew up!
Fortunately, most of us didn’t go around making bombs in order to kill people.
The Ayers connection is the most disturbing to me. I didn’t befriend assholes like this in the 60s when I was young and full of protest. I knew better.
What’s 0bama’s excuse????
And again, he’s lied about how well he knows this man.
he wasn’t 8 yrs old when he sat on boards with
him or when he launched a campaign at his home
how does he explain that?
And he was not 8 years old when Ayers said in an interview in 2001 that he is not only unrepentant for what the Weather Underground did (which included killing people) he thinks THEY DID NOT GO FAR ENOUGH!!
Let’s not forget that Obama has been preparing to be president for years and did everything he could to further his political career. He had to have known who this guy was.
What does Obama’s failure to see just how damaging his associations with the likes of Ayers and Wright which were politically helpful to get him started in Chicago would be when judged by mainstream Americans? It says to me that he really has no idea what most Americans are like. Not surprising when you realize he has never lived in mainstream America. From his schooling in Hawaii up until now he has lived in a rarified world of elites, except for his associations in Chicago with the Southside AA community, which he did purely to further his political career. (And its not like the people at the radical Trinity UCC are typical of most Americans, black or white anyway.)
As long as we’re talking about terrorists and blowing things up, let’s not forget America’s number one domestic terrorist group—the pro-lifers.
Pro-lifers blow up legal abortion clinics regularly, as we all know. And they murder people every year–unlike Ayers, who killed nobody.
Pro-lifers are unquestionably terrorists and murderers. And they seem pretty damned unrepentant to me.
I think a lot of us who spend time on the net forget that a lot of mainstream voters do not. I believe it’s important to write to the Editors of local newspapers to make the case against BO as well. It seemed to me that our local paper (endorsed BO) has been as guilty of bias as any of the other msm and so I was happy to see a letter published the other day, enumerating many of the issues discussed here routinely. Today there were three more against BO. Previously it was a BO love-in. Here’s a current one in response to a claim that BO voted against the war:
“Editor:
Could we get this straight once and for all? Barack Obama did not vote against the Iraq war for the simple reason that he was not in the U. S. Senate at that time. A minimal requirement for a vote wouldn’t you agree? He did make a speech (according to him) in Chicago during anti-war protests but no one seems to have a tape of it. I can certainly agree with reader, Glenn Kardel on one point though: Obama’s suggestion that we invade Pakistan would be a disaster. This would be especially so considering that he has absolutely no foreign policy experience or expertise. A week in Europe doesn’t count. And certainly, 143 days in the Senate doesn’t cut it either.”
“As more and more details emerge regarding his nefarious connections to William Ayers (not just a neighbor down the street), the jailed felon, Resko (quid quo pro $14million funneled to him by Barack via the state of Illinois for a below market real estate deal to Barack and Michelle Obama) along with his extreme leftist ideology (reparations, redistribution of wealth, etc.) and illegal campaign donations from foreign residents, it will be a cold day in Hades before he moves into the White House.”
“Fortunately, we get to have a general election before Barack can carry out his redecoration scheme for the Lincoln bedroom.”
I think sometimes a letter can open the door giving courage to others to express their own take. I’ll give it a try. Hopefully many of you are or will too.
The only black Presidential candidate who voted against the war is CYNTHIA McKINNEY, in fact!
NYT: Obama Camp Falling Short Of Fundraising Goals
The New York Times reports that the Obama campaign’s fundraising totals, while impressive, are not enough to truly make it worth the time and effort he has to spend on fundraising in order to make up for the public money he has foregone. A source of the problem: Anemic fundraising from former Hillary Clinton donors, who only gave about $4 million in June and July.

Dems for McCain - NO Hussein!
The problem with Obama campaign is that they are covering up the smallest of questionable decisions he has made. Almost as if there is some major issue that they are hiding.
Makes you really wonder about this guy. He looks more and more like the democratic version of BUSH. Serving blue koolaid instead of the red.
“It is frequently the case that a statistically significant percentage of white voters will lie to pollsters — or decline to state their preference — in races in which one candidate is black and the other white.”
How could he possibly know that it’s white voters saying one thing to pollsters and voting the other way? Far more likely that a statistically significant percentage of the people polled say they are going to vote and then never do. And, it would make sense that more of those non-voters are young voters or people who have never voted before (in this election, that would include more Obama fans). The theory that people worry about anonymous pollsters thinking they are racist has always sounded kind of far-fetched to me.
~”How could he possibly know that it’s white voters saying one thing to pollsters and voting the other way?“~
Because he (and his wife) has said all white people are racist and we all know that nothing but pearls of wisdom drop from his mouth. If we had a David Duke being nominated by a Democratic Convention saying something like that, heads would roll! But this is Obama the Symbol so we gotta believe…
Bob Herbert kinda reminds me of David Duke. I think Herbert is a little nutty and full of sh*t.
And if Herbert is right, this is a strong argument against Obama’s candidacy because it says he is even weaker than the polls would suggest!
And as an AA, from the beginning, I’ve always felt that this was a weakness in 0bama’s candidacy.
After 4 years of Bush/Cheney & Republicans, I wanted to WIN. Period! And I thought the smart move, the sure bet was Clinton. And even she had a mountain of obstacles in her way, being a woman, a Clinton and having a lot of irrational Clinton-hatred against her. Still, I felt that she could pull it off more easily.
Why?
Because I know that a certain segment of white America was never going to vote for B0 no matter what they said once they got into the voting booth. Look what happened most recently to Harold Ford in Tennessee.
It’s not far-fetched that this happens. It was after Bradley in CA that this was determined because the polls were so high in Bradley’s favor, beyond the margin of error and he still lost. The pollsters scratched their heads and they ultimately determined that they had been lied to and that race was a factor.
But 0bama was in the best position at one point to overcome that but he blew it.
First, because he is biracial, I think a lot of people were going to give him the benefit of the doubt. But 0bama instead chose to lean on his AA heritage and ultimately has given white people reason to feel uneasy.
One of the beautiful aspects of this year’s Olympics was seeing the pride with which AA atheletes competed for love of their country. It wasn’t always this way. But it’s clear that many of them, especially the wealthy professional ones, now understand that they have achieved the American Dream and are openly grateful.
Barack and Michelle have no basis for justifying their relationships with people like Wright/Trinity Church and Ayers. It’s one thing for them to recognize that there is still a lot of work to be done among the generationally poor AAs and quite another for them to be commiserating and openly hostile as if they haven’t achieved the American Dream. How can they validate this? What makes them think that “I love America” speeches are going to wipe away their actions over the last 20 years?
Finally, this is what pisses me off with the DNC. They didn’t vet him. And even after these troubling things came to the surface, they chose to act like a parent in denial of a spoiled rotten brat. They revealed in the process their contempt for the Clintons. And ultimately, that was more important than anything. And worse for me, Dean, Pelosi, Reid Brazile and 0bama have used the AA community as justification for their acts. They’ve exploited the desperation of a people who would love to feel pride at having an AA president. The final result is going to be abject bitterness, resentment, disillusionment and all-around bad feelings among everyone.
They have soured me against the Democratic Party and politics in general and I’ve been a voter all my life.
But they robbed me of one of my greatest hopes: to see an AA AND a Woman president in my lifetime. Now, after this debacle, I’ll probably see neither one.
Good job Democrats!
It’s always the cover-up that gets in the way! I probably wouldn’t hold it against one of his neighbors for being civil to Ayers but for someone running for national office, it’s completely wrong. He certainly wouldn’t be in the social circle of anyone around here and this used to be a crossroads for the counter culture.
I have been oblivious to the hot-bed of radical roots in Chicago. I thought all that was over with the Chicago 7. Guess it doesn’t pay to mind your own business after all.
Here’s a counterargument to Bob “I see racism everywhere” Herbert. Of course, Mr. Baker, by saying it isn’t Barry’s skin color–oops, colour– that’s the problem, must be a racist.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/gerard_baker/article4615647.ece
You may remember Mr. Baker from his wonderful biblical satire of The Messiah. Yep, he’s just gotta be a racist.
That is one helluva good article–WELL worth the read.
That is one helluva good article–WELL worth the read.
Does Bob Herbert think we are all stupid?
i don’t know… maybe he is just a complete moron so can’t help writing such trash…
i have lost all respect for the NY Times…

I think Bob Herbert has gone a little nutso, actually.
He’s OVER-invested in the BO candidacy, and railing in advance, perhaps to get it all out of his system before the candidate crashes and burns.
This once respected columnist has lost all objectivity when it comes to Obama. He has shown himself to be the compleat racist, in making statements that further separate blacks and whites.
Am I supposed to vote for Obama because I am called a racist (because I won’t vote for him)? Instead, comments from people like him have strengthened my resolve to not vote or him. I’ve never taken to this sort of race baiting.
Here are some of my reasons for not voting for him: He is not qualified! He has no foreign policy experience! He is too far left! His judgment in most matters is both poor and dangerous! He is filled with delusions about his own capabilities, dangerously so! He has purposely not released records, documents, etc. about his past. I don’t even know if his name is really Soetoro or Obama, and I don’t know if he holds dual citizenship with Indonesia.
If Herbert thinks these things label me a racist, I shall proudly stand by the above, and he can call me whatever he likes. I DON’T CARE!
This is the quagmire that AAs have found themselves in over this man’s candidacy.
They’ve forgotten a very simple fact:
Democracy!
The primary feature of which is CHOICE.
You can’t guilt an entire country to vote for a man they don’t see as having the experience and the qualifications for the job. By turning a blind eye to this staggering fact is not going to make it go away.
Herbert is merely following B0’s lead. 0bama himself stirred the racial pot. This is a page out of Harold Washington’s book on using racial politics to win.
Earth to 0bama: It’s not working!
Just because he got away with laying guilt trips on his grandparents as a kid doesn’t mean it’s going to work on the national stage and get him elected POTUS.
The Sun-Times page that is linked to in #4 contains three videos. The last video features Illinois Senate President Emil Jones. This is the same guy who allegedly once stated, “I’m gonna make me a U.S. Senator.” In the months that followed that statement, “Jones appointed Obama sponsor of virtually every high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and-file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and had spent years championing the bills.”
http://www.houstonpress.com/2008-02-28/news/barack-obama-screamed-at-me/2
Jones, who is in his early 70’s, recently announced that he is retiring in January and wants his son to get his seat (politics does seem to have a “regal” quality in Chicago).

Obama Ad: Why Is McCain Talking About My Friendship With an Unrepentant Terrorist?
Obama, for some misguided reason, made an ad asking why John McCain is talking about the sixties and his friendship with the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. I guess he wants everyone to continue to talk about this. Im stuck on this joke now:
What…
it is pretty funny…
now when the MSM covers this story they have to explain the ad, then explain the history of Ayers and Obama… ah ha hah ahahah ah a

I watched the first few minutes of Hillary’s convention speech and then turned it off. I just couldn’t stand to listen to her say we should support Obama. Michelle Obama had a forced smirk on her face. But the rest of the crowd gave Hillary a great reception.
Hillary can give mild support wo setting herself up too much. All of this crap the Republicans are holding out on Obama until after he is the official nominee is just hearsay. Since the whole thing is rigged for Obama and Hillary knows it, she did the right thing. When shit hits the fan she can back off and say she has a real reason why. I know that the Republicans have plenty on Obama and won’t be afraid to use it.
The racist name calling is old and tired.
Well, that orange pantsuit suggested “PRISONER” to me. What else is the captive going to do, when threatened, by vicious, hateful enemies, with grievous harm?
She’s got more in common with McCain than many realize!
Does anyone remember when the USS Pueblo was taken, and the captain blinked out Morse code messages to the world when he was captive?

yeah… interesting point…

HRC was brilliant last night. But she sent me several clear messages in her coded smart way.
1. SHe did not admit Barack Obama could be CIC.
2. SHe used John Mccain favorite phrase and not Obama one. AT the very beginning she said “my Friends” NOT “Fired up ready to go.”
3. She used our favorite Nobama slogan to make it sound as if she meant McCain. Remember her saying Noway, No How, No Mccain?
4. She did everything to help Obama. Now it’s my turn to make sure she gets elected in 2012.
If Barack Obama loses, he has only himself to blame. it is now in his hands and up to him to woe voters. Hillary has done what no other runner up has done in previous campaigns.
Now I will make sure this incomeptent never gets in the WHite House!!!!!!
I may have imagined it but it seemed she hesitated before the last part. In my head I heard Nobama and thought she was going to say that. I’m sure this was intentional.
Hillary often says things she knows we will pick up on but that the DNC and Obama are clueless about - because they don’t hear us.
That’s what they get for ignoring us.
When she said No how, no way, no McCain, Bill burst out laughing. There was meaning behind those words that only he and her understood.
it is now in his hands and up to him to woe voters.
I know it’s unintentional, but it’s a funny typo or freudian slip. Woe betide the fool who votes for “O”.
Priceless…
Joe Biden shed a tear or two yesterday while talking to the Delaware group. Imgaine if that was a woman shedding tears because they got selected for the VP.hmmmmmmmmmmm
In the political world, Hillary’s few jabs to McCain were mild and joking. She left all the heavy hitting for Biden. Joe has to come out swinging tonight. HA HA He’s going to come off as bitter, angry, negative, ready for more gridlock. Swing voters are going to be turned off, PLUS Joe’s antics will just vev up the Republican attack machine. They will use his performance tonight to define him until November. It’s going to get real ugly, real fast.
I’ll make some popcorn.
What a bloody nightmare the Obama people have created for America!
Whether Obama wins or loses, his supporters will be falsely calling their fellow Americans racists for years, possibly decades, to come.
They will do this either to browbeat anyone who criticizes their President, or (more likely) to explain Obama’s catastrophic and defeat.
So…any way you cut it, America will be an irritating, ugly-assed place to live for the next few years. Thank you, Obamites!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4HrSQySus8
why would Obama would “be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it?”
for the same reason he would not put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. fot the same reason he refused to wear the flag lapel pin.
these acts of defiance are inappropriate at best for someone running for CIC. he has to represent the US to the world. what do other leaders think when they see this. what would we think if Putin did something similar? we wouldn’t have any respect for him and wonder WTF?
Obama’s refusal to participate in showing respect for our National Anthem and respect for our flag is reminiscent of certain religious zealot groups and does fit in with the Rev. Wright “God Damn America” zealotry.
But when I discovered the hidden truth of his being raised in the Muslim culture of Indonesia it made perfect sense that he would not see any need to honor those symbol because he was raided by a mother who married and lived outside of the U. S. culture for a majority of her adult life so Obama formed cultural bonds far different from our school children.
Military dependents and diplomats’ kids living in foreign countries are still raised in the traditional American culture, most attend American schools and follow American traditions like Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthday celebrations. But Mrs. Dunham-Barack-Soetoro chose to raise her children outside of the traditional American culture in foreign countries where the importance of our nation’s symbols and our history was not taught and which her son didn’t bother to learn about before he decided he wanted the job as Public Servant in our Executive branch.
And Obama’s introduction to black culture, according to his sister Maya, was through commie pervert Uncle Frank who wrote about BDSM and child rape as factual and autobiographical accounts of his life. Grandpa Dunham used to get blazed with Uncle Frank and pass out during scrabble, leaving young Barry alone with him. The adult Barack Obama undoubtedly has issues.

Obama camp: Prosecute Simmons
“Having failed in its attempts to get our legal, factual and fully-supported ad off the air, Barack Obama’s campaign now wants to put our donors in prison for exercising their right to free speech,” said Ed Martin, the group’s president. “These over-the-top bullying tactics are reminiscent of the kind of censorship one would see in a Stalinist dictatorship, with the only difference being that those guys generally had to wait until they were in power to throw people who disagreed with them into jail.”
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0808/Obama_camp_Prosecute_Simmons.html
they have some great comments too:
“You better hope the brother wins in November or there will be white blood running in the streets of every major city. We aint taking no more of your crap. Posted By: Deshaun Clinton | August 27, 2008 at 01:03 AM tell ya what BOY… bring it on.”

Obama Speech Stage Resembles Ancient Greek Temple
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=5660266
Who does he think he is JFK, Julius Caesar or a rock star?
JFK was never tacky and lavishly expensive.
Hillary is clearly the superior of the two, and she does not have Wright/Ayers baggage. I see McCain is padding his lead in Florida –in the latest poll he’s 7+ — even though Obama has run uncontested ads there for some time, spending many millions.
http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/stories/2008/08/25/daily2.html
I watched the last half of Hillary’s speech on PBS last night. Tavis Smiley was on immediately afterward. He interviewed a Hillary delegate from Florida. His line of questioning concerned Obama’s “Jewish problem” in FL. She swept it under the rug. She said she was switching her support to SoeBama and that he was strong with the Jews in Florida.
Maybe he’ll wear a yarmulke at Invesco Field to show he’s down with the tribe.
This is going to be an ugly campaign. When both candidates talk about a “new politics”, we can be sure it is gonna get ugly. Both candidates are running ads in Ohio. They are both negative and not entirely factual.
The DNC primary process is screwed as we all know. This year the SD had a chance to rectify that process and choose the stronger candidate. They reneged and did not choose the stronger candidate. The stronger candidate is doing her best to support this failed decision making for the party. In the end, it is Obama who has to get himself elected and with how the convention is going right now..not so good. They are meandering and not driving home the message.
When Obama is left to his own devices, his weakness is glaringly apparent. I know that electing another Republican is not good for the country. However, I do not think Obama is strong enough to convince the American people that he is up to the task of being president. There is nothing to indicate that he is up to the task. He has nothing to counteract the Ayers, Rezkos and God knows how many shifty associates he has. When all is said and done, Obama has to stand alone and face McCain and the American people. He cannot run away as he did with Senator Clinton. He cannot run away from voters in PA, WV, OH, KY, MI, and FL. Europeans are not going to be able to help him. He cannot have a devastating engagement with Putin and simply grandstand by “brushing it off” to his faithful. The stakes are too high. The consequences are deadly.
Maybe not, he could get Joe Biden to dress up like him in order to face McCain in the debates.
I still think it interesting, that Bill Ayers confirmed that he is a bisexual…It seems strange that Soetoro-Obama is surrounded by these interesting circumtances…Did Ayers discover a kindred spirit in Soetoro-Obama? Than you have the pervert, sex with a 13 yr old. Frank Marshall Davis, 20yr mentor for Barry-Barack. Soetoro calls him his Uncle Frank in his book…it may be when Soetoro was stating he is a confused man, maybe it meant much more!
Bill Ayers is Obama’s friend of 20 yrs. They served on boards together. Ayers held fundraisers for Obama. There’s no denying their relationship, but Obama has certainly tried to by claiming “he’s just some guy that lives in my neighborhood”.
Bill Ayer’s actions killed people, including his girlfriend. His followerers stood in the street and sang “lay Elrod lay” while he lay bleeding and paralyzed in the street. People think of the 60’s as sweetness and light, but there was some real ugliness going on.
And just when you think you could let all this fade into the last 30 yrs, Ayers comes out and declares he didn’t do enough. Then you remember how his wife praised Charles Manson and the horror of these two and what they represented just comes flooding back.
Now what does it say about your candidate, that she was beaten by a political novice with alleged terrorist ties???
A
nd you think this person (hrc) DESERVES to be president? Its laughable.
Finally, the Clinton machine is permanently out of order.
It says that sexism is a bigger problem than any of us probably supposed - was a surprise for me - going into this election. It says our public school system is a failure, if so few Americans are this uninformed about the democratic process and how our federal bureaucracy actually works - what the President, the Vice President and the Congress actually do.
Voting for Obama in the primaries was voting for division and Hillary’s can never be blame for an Obama loss in November. She gave the troll god alot more than he deserved. Is she likable enough now and is president Clinton still a racist. Race baiters I just can’t stand them.
Hey Roxanne
A little hint for you…hold off on your little wake until November!
We are going to return another carcass to you!!!
We just don’t have B B’s (backtrack barry) thought patterns.
The reason he went with CHANGE for his campaign theme is because BB CHANGES LIKE THE WIND, that’s his Indian name.
This is the beginning of the issues coming to the end…oh how true.
My very favorite is the realtionship of factcheck.org who is a part of the Anneberg Foundation, who is connected to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Obama was the board chairman which is…wait for it… connected to…Ayers.
luckily your girl Hillary stole the headlines today. i have to thank you guys for that.
so what’s that mean, you’re afraid of the Bill Ayres unrepentant terrorist story.
Hate to break it to you, this story has legs.
