Oh, Wes, What Have They Done To You?

Well, I just busted my Popeil’s Disgust-O-Meter because too much bile came out of my throat all at once and sent the needle through the roof.

I have long been a fan of General Wesley Clark and appreciated his early and very strong endorsement of Hillary Clinton, our rightful nominee. He worked very hard for her nomination but then, like so many, started singing the Unity Pony crapanola after the primary ended. Despite the lousy treatment he has received since, he is still playing the game to get Dems elected and what follows is excerpted from a letter I received from Wes yesterday:

… I can’t tell you how ready I am to head to Denver and join my fellow Democrats.

Personally I think Wes would rather stick needles in his eyes…

We’re a party loaded with talent. Like many of you, I’ve been thrilled by the speeches at the Democratic National Convention so far. Hillary Clinton was great last night. Her strength, her character, her call for unity. Her speech just proves once again that she is a great American and has many years of distinguished public service ahead of her.

OK. His comment about Hillary was the only piece of truth in his entire missive. And now, some drivel:

And what an inspiration Ted Kennedy was, as was Nancy Pelosi, our Speaker of the House…

Yes, I too am moved by people who ‘diss’ somebody’s record, achievements and legacy out of jealousy and a need for power. How inspiring. More…

And then there’s tomorrow. Our Party is so fortunate at this time in history to be nominating Barack Obama. After Michelle’s incredibly warm and personal speech on Monday, any American can see the strength of character in their family. It’s clear that when the Obamas become first family, they’ll definitely bring change to America.

I can’t wait to hear Senator Obama’s words in person.

Wes ‘can’t wait’?? If that last phrase doesn’t make you want to lose it, nothing will. Wes was dis-invited from speaking but is going to stand mute on the stage while the arrogant Obama is crowned Caesar tonight – while a lesser General speaks in his stead. Oh, Wes, I’m so sure you can’t wait to go to Denver!

Let’s call the following a bit of revisionist history, but this is my take on what Wes would say if he could say it:

I, Wes Clark, am here today to right a wrong. And the wrong is mine.

For 34 years, I proudly wore the uniform in service to my country. I rose to the rank of Four Star General, Supreme Allied Commander of NATO and probably have more medals and accolades from this great country and other nations around the world than I can count. I have served under many administrations, both Republican and Democratic. I was always a registered Independent as those of us in the military must pledge to support the Commander in Chief regardless of party.

After my retirement, I came to terms with my own Presidential aspirations and in 2003, was drafted to run myself. What my grass roots campaign lacked in money and organization, it compensated for in a progressive platform and heart. I watched as John Kerry wound up being named our nominee. Even though I noticed he had lifted some of my ideas, like a good, and newly minted Democrat, I worked tirelessly to get him elected to office. I did it because that’s how the Party works. That’s what you do. You work together for the common goal no matter who gets the nod.

That’s what I thought.

In 2005-2006, I crossed the country, campaigning on behalf of the seemingly hapless Democrats, hoping to finally achieve some oversight if we could take back Congress. We achieved that goal. Well, we achieved the election part. The oversight part was non-existent.

My brief 6 month run in 2003 was a great learning experience and yes, I had my own Presidential aspirations this time around, too, but quickly saw that I could not connect the dots. The dots connected for Hillary and as someone I have known and respected for 25 years, I gladly endorsed her bid for the Presidency. One year ago, I asked my own supporters to extend themselves to her in the same way they had for me. I did this because I know this woman has a spine of steel and the courage of her convictions.

I have seen up close and personal how she has fought for education, health care, veterans, women’s rights, first responders and children.

Imagine my surprise that my own supporters were split down the middle. Imagine my horror when I realized my own naivété and short-sightedness watching the appalling media coverage Hillary and her family were subjected to.

We campaigned together, I tooted her horn on every TV program I could, and finally after June 3rd, when the writing was on the wall and this primary was brought to a forced end by the Super Delegates, I did the unthinkable 2 days later: I made the statement on my website that we should all get behind Barack Obama and that he would make a great President. I did not realize what that statement would cost me in terms of my own credibility, or what would be the cost to my soul.

Once again, I was playing the good Democrat. And yes, ambition played a big part, too. I knew my name was being floated for VP so perhaps I thought I could ride to the rescue of this inexperienced man. I won’t go into any more detail than that. You can fill in the blanks for yourselves and attribute whatever negative or positive motives to me you want. You’ve earned that right.

For weeks I’d been riding Senator McCain about the fact that his military record did not prove his ability to lead or his understanding of policy. Then came that fateful day on Face the Nation when I uttered the words that “being shot down does not qualify you to be President.”

I expected the right wing freak show. It was the left wing freak show that blindsided me.

After spending five years tirelessly fighting for the DNC and being their go-to guy on foreign policy, I went from top of the VP list to bottom of the Dem elite heap. Even my old pal John Kerry saw fit to trash my name. And as for Barack, well, let’s just say I was left to suck on some arugula under his very big bus.

And now I have to answer for the mistake I made. The mistake had nothing to do with Senator McCain. My mistake was that I did not stand up and shout from the highest hill that the DNC is making a horrid blunder. Hillary’s your girl. She’s our girl. She’s the one to lead us out of this morass.

I watched her speech Tuesday night. Senator Clinton was amazing, gracious, powerful and presidential. Everything I know her to be. She reminded me why the hell I endorsed her in the first place. She is a public servant who is truly willing to put her own interests aside for the good of the American people.

She did us all proud.

But the DNC did her dirty. I should have said as much. I have paid the price in the past for opening my big mouth. Since it wound up costing me anyway, better I should have paid the price for telling the truth than telling a lie.

I believe Hillary said recently at a dinner she was having with Terry McAuliffe that this is not the Democratic Party she knew. I certainly agree.

This Convention has been an exercise is turning upside down the values that we purport to defend. Since Wednesday night’s Convention theme was Securing America’s Future (ironic since it echoes the name of my PAC), but I was not invited to speak since I am under the bus sucking arugula – I would just like to remind you that it is Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton who has America’s interests writ large. I know she will continue to fight for the values and goals of people most in need in this country.

Whatever unity pony nonsense we all feel forced to spout, I hope you can forgive me for my lapse. I believe there’s a saying to the effect that evil thrives when good men do nothing. The political M.O. that got us to this place obviously needs to be thrown out with the bathwater. And those who are behind it need to be thrown out with it.

My deepest apologies to Hillary, who understands that politics is a blood sport, but she did not deserve to get bloodied by the likes of those I chose to unite with. I hope she can forgive me for boarding Obama’s disastrous bus before having done all my homework on this guy. No wonder I wound up under it. There are many things that qualify a person to be President but he is not possessed of those qualities.

And now that I have apologized, I’d like to also give thanks.

Thanks to the ungrateful, shortsighted DNC that has kicked the best and brightest political couple to the curb. P.S. – it didn’t work.

Thanks to the news media for doing their level best to once again pick the worst possible candidate in an effort to vaunt him to the Presidency. P.S. – I think enough people are awake this time and your ever decreasing credibility is much in evidence.

Thanks again to the elitist boobs in the party for telling us that 18,000,000 voters don’t matter. P.S. – they do.

But most of all, thanks to all of you for once again giving me the opportunity to say that the Hillary I know is the lady we want to follow. P.S. – I should have.

And I know you will.

Here’s to our rightful Presidential Nominee, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Wes should become a PUMA. I’ve always thought that he looks a lot like a panther (something about the shape of his head and his eyes).

So far Ed Rendell and James Carville are the ONLY politicians with ANY GUTS to speak the truth!

These people are walking with resumes in hand looking for jobs.

Stop being so naive people. They’re playing the game.

This is why I never understood 0bama’s message of change. Picking Biden should have exposed that. How they can wave ‘change’ placards around anymore is beyond me.

Which is why I have no problem supporting McCain. There’s no difference just politics as usual. I want to send 0bama packing with a resounding defeat. Anything less will have him back again in 2012. That’s why they’ve moved everything to Chicago.

They will spend the next 4 years organizing even more volunteers and waiting for the next core group of 18 year olds to come into the fold.

So anyone between the ages of 14 and and 17 are fair game. And in the meantime, he’s hoping Hillary’s supporters will die by attrition.

We’re in for a very ugly ride here. We can play around if you want to, but we have to be serious from here on.

Comment by LandOLincoln | 2008-08-28 15:44:01

“These people are walking with resumes in hand looking for jobs.”

That’s crap, Mimi. Wes Clark doesn’t need a job, and the chances Obama would give him one are zip in any case.

Did it ever occur to any of you that it just might be easier to take the party back from the inside?

You might want to think about that before you start insulting one of the smartest and toughest real Democrats out there.

Comment by Dr. Kate | 2008-08-28 16:41:52

Mimi, I agree. This is a serious fight, and they do intend to play dirty.

I am dedicated to continuing to expose the fraud that obama-soetoro is and the danger he represents to this country. I am in a red state and I still plan to vote McCain.

Well, look, the signals are out there:

The Ragin’ Cajun’s brand new Puma sneakers

Big Dog’s candidate X & candidate Y analogy

Hillary’s orange pantsuit, on the same day the PUMAs were wearing that color in Denver, as Riverdaughter (I think it was) pointed out;

Also Hillary’s mention in her speech of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit, the title of a recent diary of RD’s. Mind you, I’m pretty sure I saw that phrase used to describe Hillary’s supporters months ago, and of course it’s an obvious play on the title of a book series and two movies, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

So I’m not giving up on my General. I figure he’s got a strategy. I’m just going to keep my mouth shut and my eyes open, and see what develops.

And who knows? maybe the next time Wes turns up in casual clothes, he’ll have traded his trademark loafers for a pair of Pumas. ;-)

P.S. I’d keep an eye on Wes Jr. too…

Gene Lyons thinks Wes is a puma:

I want to be careful how I say this, but he has an almost feline presence — and by that I don’t mean “catty,” as in bitchy. I mean like a big cat. I once encountered a mountain lion in the Point Reyes National Seashore in California, on a rainy day in winter, when I was all by myself. We stood stock still staring at each other for a few seconds. And there was this moment of “Gee, that’s a cougar, this is really cool.” And then an instant later, came the feeling of “My God, that’s a lion!” There’s nothing between me and him, no fence. Clark has a little bit of that kind of presence. You sense a tremendous personal authority about him held in and contained by self-discipline. Not somebody to fuck with, is another way of putting it.

I like your Wes Clark much better than the real Wes Clark. When the once and future Clinton supporters finally run out of arugula under the bus maybe they will all consider establishing a viable third party. I won’t be voting Democrat again.

Comment by tek | 2008-08-28 14:49:19

Ditto. (voting Democrat) and I thought Wes Clark was “disinvited” from the Convention? Is there no one who will stand up for true democratic ideals in the whole leadership of this country? It seems like that person could be KING or QUEEN.

Comment by jadwiga | 2008-08-28 16:55:27

The communist parties in Russia and Eastern Europe were organized like criminal organiztions. They didn’t make you a part of the whole dirty business at once. You were asked a little favor to further their goals. It was just a little bit off from the decent course. The revard was significant.
When the following tasks came, you didn’t have a moral standing to say no - and they told you that too. You became one of them. It was a very effective method to enlist othervise very decent people.

This is playing out in Obama’s Party. They ask you to push the Unity Wagon. The revard is a democrat in the White House.
Once you are part of the ‘team’, any deviation from the party line gets you under the bus. The more important you are outside of the new party, the heavier the hand is to exact the punishment. If they would be stronger now, General Clark would face much worse than ‘dissing’. He is a lucky guy.

We will not be so lucky with much lesser sins once they established themselves.

I am not kidding.

Comment by LandOLincoln | 2008-08-28 17:25:08

I am not kidding.

Jadwiga, I know you’re not kidding, but do you think Wes Clark doesn’t know what’s going on? Do you think the Clintons don’t know what’s going on? Do you think there are no rank and file Democrats who know what’s going on?

Watch and wait, wait and watch. This thing is far from over.

Comment by jadwiga | 2008-08-28 17:52:18

No, no, no!

I only wanted to describe how the Obama Party operates.

The moderate wing - let’s call it the Clinton wing - of the democrats will reclaim the party in due time.

They need our help as we need theirs. At this point even the republicans are enlisted.

General Clark will get over his minor hurt. He will soldier on for the good cause.

He wouldn’t have to write this letter if he didn’t want people to understand that Unity Pony is dead. There is nothing good in the Obama Party anymore. It is a mistake to support Obama for misguided unity reasons.

The subliminal message is coming from every Clinton supporter and from the Clintons as well.

So, I will not wait and watch. I will be there and do the little help I can.

Comment by LandOLincoln | 2008-08-28 18:08:21

So, I will not wait and watch. I will be there and do the little help I can.

That’s what I meant by “wait and watch.”

Short of being able to talk to Wes privately to find out what he believes is the best course of action, it’s the best I can do.

And November is still over two months away.

But why would Oblowme bother to learn anything or help our country in any way if it doesn’t give him any payola?

It isn’t his style.

We don’t need to be reminded about Clark and all of the rest of the cowards who would not speak out against the evil(evil exists because the good do nothing)of the primaries and how the Chicago thugs staged a coup. What we need are profiles of those who did and still stand up for Hillary and speak out against an injustice as bad as 2000 and 2004. The men and women who went to Washington on May 31st and protested the actions of the RBC. Those on the committee who stood fast with Hillary despite threats from BO’s henchmen. People like Larry Johnson and all the other sites who dare to get threats on their email because they tell the truth. I don’t care about Clark or any of the rest of them–I hope they pay dearly at least in a guilty conscience for what they’ve done. The field where BO is speaking tonite is a gross travesty, it’s disgusting when so many people need a leader like Senator Clinton. Instead, we have a little, abandoned boy who doesn’t know what the hell is happening except that he gets to play king for the next 70 days. Let’s celebrate the men and women of Puma and hundreds of other groups who had the courage to speak out and take so many insults along the way. Let’s “keep going.”

Comment by Ani | 2008-08-28 14:51:29

I deeply appreciate your feelings on the subject and we do need to applaud those with the courage to stand up and keep standing up.

But I think we also need to be reminded about those who did not, for whatever reason. Many people in this country tend to have dangerously short memories.

It is important to me not to let them forget either those who were, and are, courageous and those who were not.

Comment by Steve1 | 2008-08-28 15:03:33

Looks like Jesse Jackson, Travis Smiley, Rev Manning and Larry Sinclair, along with many others, including Larry Johnson are the true patriots. Plus, we the people will stand of and we will demand the truth! On November 4th, we will let them know what we think of their actions. Than I want to see heads roll in our party-we need to take it back from the eggheads and apologists! Let’s make a list!

Have to wonder how someone like Wesley Clark can bring himself to endorse someone like Obama. This guy spends his entire life devoted to the United States of America, unlike Obama who spends his entire life with people tearing it down.

The more this goes on, the closer I am getting to switching my party affiliation to Republican from Independent.

Comment by BernieO | 2008-08-28 15:44:20

Clark is close to the Clintons and like both of them he is now supporting Obama. Doesn’t mean he likes it. I don’t hold it against him anymore than I resent the Clintons support of Obama. It is what party leaders have to do. Unfortunate but that’s reality. It’s not like starting a 3rd party is a winning strategy.
Clark would have been a much better choice to have speak last night instead of General What’s Her Name if they wanted to burnish Obama’s commander in chief cred. But they wouldn’t let him speak. Also how about Gore? He is speaking tonight but pre-primetime. How’s that for stupid?

Comment by LandOLincoln | 2008-08-28 16:12:44

Righto, Bernie, it’s incredibly stupid. These fools are going down, and when they do the real Democrats will be there to pick up the pieces and put the party back together.

In the meantime, I’d give a lot to be a fly on the wall when the Clinton/Clark faction is brainstorming strategery. ;-)

January 2008:

My plans are to avoid all election coverage. My party is in disarray and no one is really interesting. Talks of a “brokered” convention are bantered all across the web among conservative websites and blogs. Doom has set in among the party faithfuls.

All will be lost.

May 2008:

What the hell is wrong with these damn reporters? Had a Republican made the same type of sexist statements–they would be covering it 24/7. Heck, I would be irate. Hell, I am irate and I’m a Republican non-Hillary supporter.

What is going on in this country?

What do you mean if I don’t vote for Obama I’m a racist?

Hillary needs to get out–that’s what they keep saying on TV. Why the hell does she need to get out? Yes, this is amusing for me. However, she’s won more votes so far. Surely, the Democrats are being drama queens for no reason.

This is a joke. They’ll wake up and then Hillary versus McCain.

August/September 2008:

Reality has set in.

Doom is upon us and yet, the Republican Party is going to have to save this country from Obama. The same Republicans I have been aggravated with for doing absolutely nothing.

This isn’t a joke any longer.

No wonder most of us aren’t happy.

Obama will have his stage tonight. The whole world drowning in prozac and kool-aid will be listening to the words of their messiah. The rest of us will shake our heads in disgust.

When the former President and First Lady of the United States are treated like yesterday’s news, where does that leave the rest of us?

Promoting Obama like Wes Clark is at the moment or refusing to “bow” to the One.

This is today’s reality.

August 29th to November 4th:

UNITE and TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY!

We have no choice.

Comment by cpl | 2008-08-28 15:19:31

Wes took himself out of the running for VP by deliberately accidentally making that (cough) “gaffe” about McCain. Clever Wes.

Here is what HILLPAC (Big Money/Famous Names) DONORS think of Obama–NOT MUCH:

Some Clinton Donors Are Contributing to McCain
Dozens of Prominent Fundraisers Have Donated over $200,000 in Last Few Months
By MARCUS BARAM
August 28, 2008 —

Some of Hillary Clinton’s most fervent supporters are taking their enthusiasm and their campaign contributions to John McCain.

More than 85 of Clinton’s fundraisers, including Donald Trump, Univision chief executive Joseph Uva, cable mogul Charles Dolan, philanthropist Norma Hess and one of Florida’s biggest lobbyists appear to be skipping Barack Obama when it comes to writing checks for the general election, according to an ABCNews.com review of campaign finance records.

These Clinton donors have contributed at least $200,000 to McCain’s campaign in the last few months, an amount which doesn’t include larger contributions to the Republican joint fundraising committees.

But the defecting donors, along with a significant segment (20 percent) of Clinton fans who have expressed support for McCain in recent polls, could present a problem for Obama in the general election.

In her convention speech on Tuesday night, Clinton passionately encouraged her supporters to back Obama, but some of her one-time backers weren’t convinced.

“That speech was amazing, but it’s not going to change my mind,” one Texas donor, who gave $2,300 to Clinton earlier this year and contributed $2,300 to McCain last month, told ABCNews.com. “I talk to plenty of people like me who just won’t accept an unqualified president.”

They can prance the Unity Pony out for all to see, but they know in their hearts that one in five, maybe more, have no intention of having a ride on it, or even having their picture taken astride it.

Obama’s in trouble. Even if he hits it out of the park tonight, he’s not going to be able to sustain a credible campaign. And when that old man, no stranger to debate, with his “old school, loquacious and erudite Naval officer” way of speaking, gets up in ANY forum and slaps the living shit out of that punk, people are going to sit up and take notice.

And they’ll likely do as his mother suggested–hold their noses and vote for him.

You don’t make it to 96 by being stupid!

I have to tell you. I have never been a huge Clark fan. I never got a “tingle.” I think it’s great to have a former General who is a Democrat, but that is about where I start and stop with him. Sorry.

Wes Clark didn’t have anything nice to say about you either larry and he lambbasted the PUMA people. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard so many perjoratives in one conversation.

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-08-28 15:30:07

Well, he has a gun to his head. His whole post-military network is intertwined with the DNC. He’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

And he did the bidding of the Oblunder team, because they hit his weak spot, and dangled the possibility that maybe, they might vet him for VP.

They never intended to, though. He’s too close to the Clintons.

When he figured it out (DUH!), that’s when he made that gaffe–that “deliberate” gaffe.

Now, he’s trying to work his way back to the fold–just in case Oblunder succeeds.

Don’t worry about him. In the big scheme, he is but a small cog.

Not. Terribly. Influential.

He wasn’t even invited to the convention. He ran off to Milan on (cough) business, so he wouldn’t be seen as “rejected.”

One good thing about those of us who eschewed the KoolAid, we can, and do, think for ourselves.

Comment by LandOLincoln | 2008-08-28 15:36:27

Bullshit, “Clinton Fan,” absolute bullshit.

Wes is no brown-noser, and he’s playing the good soldier for the exact same reason Bill & Hill are.

Watch and wait.

I agree,LandOlincoln. Wes is no fool. As much as I hated reading that e-mail I knew he was doing what he had to do. Some of us work from the outside to change things and some of us work on the inside. He has not sold his soul to Obama. Above all else Wes is a patriot and will do what he can for the country. His game is much different than ours.

A really well written letter.

The shame of it is the fact that it’s a fiction like the rest of the Democrats. The fact that you have to imagine what someone might have said, had they had the honor to speak the truth, is truly a sad state of affairs.

Our “democracy” has gone the way of the Dodo, whose extinction is directly attributable to human activity, and the Caspian Tiger, a majestic, awe inspiring creature.

Democracy, what has happened to you? You’ve been usurped by a band of idiots in love with themselves and their power who’ve forgotten to listen to the voices of the people.

PUMA in November

Comment by Tommy | 2008-08-28 15:45:29

From my inbox. I have seen this a few times. I have no idea who this writer is, but think his thoughts well worth a read:

“The Axis of Idiots”

Jimmy Carter, you are the father of the Islamic Nazi movement.
You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then
lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy
and our people hostage. Our Canadian friends gave as many as they
could sanctuary in their embassy in Iran . They’re more
American than you’ll ever be.. You’re the runner-in-chief.

Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinsky while the
terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in
Somalia and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the
U.S.S. Cole and the First Trade Center Bombing and Our Embassy Bombings
emboldened the killers. Each time you failed to respond
adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11/2001.

John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You
lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam .
Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact .
You’ve accused our military of terrorizing women and children in Iraq .
You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, the same words
you used to describe Vietnam . You’re a fake. You want to run from Iraq
and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did to the Vietnamese.
Iraq , like Vietnam , is another war that you
were for, before you were against it.

John Murtha, you said our military was broken.
You said we can’t win militarily in Iraq . You accused United States
Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof and said we should
redeploy to Okinawa . Okinawa, John? And the Democrats call you their
military expert! Are you sure you didn’t suffer a traumatic brain
injury while you were off building your war hero resume? You’re a sad,
pitiable, corrupt and washed up politician. You’re not a Marine, sir.
You wouldn’t amount to a good pimple on a real Marine’s ass. You’re a
phony and a disgrace. Run away, John.

Dick Durbin, you accused our Soldiers at Guantanamo of being
Nazis, tenders of Soviet style gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol
Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party
abandoned Southeast Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the
Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher
for you, was it? Lord help us! See Dick run.

Ted Kennedy, for days on end you held poster-sized pictures from
Abu Ghraib in front of any available television camera. Al Jazeera
quoted you saying that Iraqi’s torture chambers were open under new
management. Did you see the news, Teddy? The Islamic Nazis demonstrated
another beheading for you. If you truly supported our troops, you’d
show the world poster-sized pictures of that atrocity and demand the
annihilation of it.
Your legislation stripping support from the South Vietnamese led to a
communist victory there. You’re a bloated, drunken fool, bent on
repeating the same historical blunder that turned freedom-seeking people
over to homicidal, genocidal maniacs. To paraphrase John Murtha, all
while sitting on your wide, gin-soaked ass in Washington

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Carl Levin, Barbara Boxer, Diane
Feinstein, Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton, Pat Leahy, Barack Obama,
Chuck Schumer, the Hollywood Leftist morons, et al, ad nauseam: Every
time you stand in front of television cameras and broadcast to the
Islamic Nazis that we went to war because our President lied, that the
war is wrong and our Soldiers are torturers, that we should leave Iraq,
you give the Islamic butchers - the same ones that tortured and
mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think that we’ll run away again,
and all they have to do is hang on a little longer. It is inevitable
that we, the infidels, will have to defeat the Islamic jihadists.
Better to do it now on their turf, than later on ours after they have
gained both strength and momentum.

American news media, the New York Times
particularly: Each time you publish stories about national defense
secrets and our intelligence gathering methods, you become one united
with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate the
bodies of American Soldiers.
You can’t strike up the courage to publish cartoons, but you can help
Al Qaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are more dangerous to us
than Al Qaeda is. Think about that each time you face Mecca to admire
your Pulitzer..

You are America ’s “AXIS OF IDIOTS.” Your Collective Stupidity
will destroy us.
Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops are more
important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent
civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in
the way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant
editorializing. There is as much blood on your hands as is on the hands
of murdering terrorists. Don’t ever doubt that. Your frolics will only
serve to extend this war as they extended Vietnam . If you want our
Soldiers home as you claim, knock off the crap and try supporting your
country ahead of supporting your silly political aims and aiding our
enemies.

Yes, I’m questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with
self. I’m also questioning why you’re stealing air that decent
Americans could be breathing. You don’t deserve the protection of our
men and women in uniform. You need to run away from this war, this
country. Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through
and the country to people who are willing to defend it.

No, Mr. President, you don’t get off the hook, either. Our
country has two enemies: Those who want to destroy us from the outside
and those who attempt it from within. Your Soldiers are dealing with
the outside force. It’s your obligation to support them by confronting
the AXIS OF IDIOTS.

America must hear it from you that these self-centered people
are harming our country, abetting the enemy and endangering our safety.
Well up a little anger, please, and channel it toward the appropriate
target. You must prosecute those who leak national security secrets to
the media. You must prosecute those in the media who knowingly publish
those secrets.

Our Soldiers need you to confront the enemy that they cannot.
They need you to do it now.

Definitely a nutty neocon there. Eesh.

Again: Our dislike of Obama does not make us Republicans (although some of us are.)

For the record, I am not interested in forming a third party, or switching my party registration. I want my party–the Democratic Party–to be reformed and reshaped. But for that to happen, the Obama Wing has got to go. His enablers–Dean, Brazille, Pelosi, etc.– have got to go. And the way to do that is to deliver a RESOUNDING defeat to them all.

Fine, Rosemaria–but I have to wonder how strong your commitment was in the first place.

I myself am a lifelong Democrat, and my first vote was in 1964.

And as long as Wesley Clark and Bill & Hillary Clinton are Democrats, I’m a registered Democrat.

I’m also a registered PUMA.

I don’t see any contradiction whatsoever.

And no, I will NOT vote for Barack Obama.

Only slightly off topic..

I am still bothered by the murder of the head of the Democratic party in Arkansas. When I saw the Arkansas delegation give all of Hillary’s votes to Obama, a chill ran down my spine. I’d like to know what is going on with the investigation of his murder. Last I heard there was no motive…

Like Bill and Hillary, Wes is from Arkansas too. And so am I.

Comment by Clara Barton | 2008-08-28 18:26:22

The Arkansas delegation didn’t give all its votes to O. The flaky secretary of the DNC heard it wrong but it was corrected. She still got less than he did, so you know there were lots of arms in casts all over that convention hall.

If we were only speaking of one man, there might have been some ray of hope.

If there’s one lesson to take from this fiasco…never, never trust a POLITICIAN!
In the past, I chuckled at Mark Twain…now, I know he was a genius!!!

AnnieCarmel, Sassy, they haven’t done anything to Wes.

Remember what Gene Lyons said?

Clark has a little bit of that kind of [real puma] presence. You sense a tremendous personal authority about him held in and contained by self-discipline. Not somebody to fuck with, is another way of putting it.

http://www.buzzflash.com/interviews/03/10/int03221.html

The PUMAs are nothing but a fraud who speak for no one except a handful of people and Republicans who support them, promote them, and try to sell them to the press as they once sold Mr. Chalabi as the future of Iraqi democracy and once sold Jack Abramoff as the go-to power guy in Washington.

It is fraud, it is a sham, it is a myth — and don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise.

Wes Clark is a great patriot and leader that I’ve admired and respected for years. Though it saddens me to see how that arrogant SOB Obama has done his level best to make Wes look irrelevant, I know that Wes has his reasons for doing this and I believe those reasons keep this country in the forefront of his mind. It isn’t easy because he truly does believe Hillary is the best. Did anyone watch her video before the speech and notice that Wes Clark was one of the few people who made a full screen shot acclimation, saying Hillary Clinton is one tough cookie?

I trust his reasons for doing what he feels he must do. I just can’t go along this time.

Comment by Ani | 2008-08-28 23:50:01

Yes, Wes is a great patriot. I am both saddened and angered by the fact that he feels he needs to carry the DNC’s water in this way. I am sure he has his reasons, just as the Clintons do for alleging their support.

I still wanted everyone to stand up with one voice and proclaim the truth: that the emperor has no clothes.

Imagine where we might be if people had done that about Bush a long time ago.

We are in a very dangerous place right now.

I also got the letter from Wes and was really apalled that such a brilliant, accomplished man, who worked so hard for Hillary, is now willing to urge her supporters to back Obama. Having been ignored and pushed to the sidelines like Hillary, he could have thrown his support to McCain or just kept quiet. I can only surmise that what motivates Wes, Hillary and Bill to support Obama is that the only thing worse than having Obama in the White House would be to have 4 more years of a Republican who looks much like a carbon copy of Bush. I think we all face the question of what to do on November 4. The choices seem to be: Take a chance on Obama, go with McCain whose ideas and plans are largely a continuation of Bush’s policies, throw away one’s vote on some 3rd party candidate, or not vote at all. I think a lot of people may remain undecided almost until they are about to head out to the polls in November. What puzzles me is how one candidate can diss another as inexperienced, with poor judgment, and just empty words, and then, after losing the nomination, turn around and urge people to back that person. I guess if Hillary is to have a future in the Democratic party, she felt compelled to do that. Visibly working for his election, if McCain wins, the blame may not be placed on her. On the other hand, the Repubs are already using words she spoke during the campaign to diss Obama. So the sincerity of her stumping for him now must remain in question.
