ACORN, Project Vote and Voter Fraud
By NancyA on August 29, 2008 at 4:45 PM in ACORN, Current Affairs, Obama, Voter Fraud
Just when I thought I was done with voter fraud stories, I hear about more fraud. Will it never stop? This time the fraud happened right in the backyard of ACORN. This is truly a delicious story. It will leave you clamoring for more! As for me, I just as soon not have to report on ACORN, Project Vote and Voter Fraud anymore because it gives me nightmares.
The end or the beginning of the story can be found at Texas Hill Country (I had the extreme pleasure of meeting him this week.), I am not certain which. Don’t worry we will get to the end in due time.
According to The Times-Picayune:
the group, called Voting Is Power and financed by the national Democratic Party, has been canvassing neighborhoods since February, collecting personal information and signatures from as many new potential voters as possible, said Brian Welsh, a spokesman for Louisiana Victory, the umbrella group coordinating local and national Democratic voter drives. Voting Is Power members also have targeted East Baton Rouge and Caddo parishes.
The Picayune has it wrong. It’s disinformation and lack of thorough investigation has resulted in the smearing of the actual Voting Is Power organization, established by the following society, Muslim American Society. Their whole purpose for Voting Is Power, is education and encouragement. They educate and empower Muslim – Americans on voting rights, registration and even battleground states in this year’s election. MAS has issued statements containing the following language….”we are not connected to the DNC”.
Well our old friend, ACORN is at it again, more voter fraud, right in their own backyard. They have borrowed the name, “Voting Is Power” from (MAS), using it for its get-out-the-vote campaign in Louisiana. Voting Is Power is listed as the actual organization according to MAS, with an address of 1250 21st Street, N.W., Washington, DC.
The problem is that Voting Is Power is a GOTV campaign in Louisiana run by the political arm of ACORN, Project Vote according to the New York Times. The GOTV effort as usual is fraught with fraud and incomplete voter registrations as well as false names and borrowed identities.
Here are some of the problems discovered so far in Louisiana,
In Louisiana, voting drive canvassers are required by law to submit the applications they collect, even if they are obvious pranks, like two cards in Shreveport that listed George Bush as the name of the applicant and 1600 Pennsylvania Drive as the address.
But Jacques Berry, a spokesman for the secretary of state, said canvassers should be “educated enough to not leave the house until the card is in order.”
John Maginnis, a political analyst in Baton Rouge, pointed out that the federal motor-voter law, which allows people to register when they get a driver’s license, had already raised registration to near-saturation levels. The key to winning the election, he said, will rest more on turnout than registration.
“You’re getting down to people that are just hard-core disengaged,” he said. “If you get these voters on the rolls, the question is how many of them are likely voters.”
But Mr. Slater said a component of the motor-voter law designed to reach low-income people who do not drive remained largely unenacted. That provision requires social service agencies to offer people the chance to register.
In Louisiana, the biggest complaints about the drive have come from Republican registrars in Caddo Parish, which includes Shreveport; East Baton Rouge Parish, which includes Baton Rouge; and Jefferson Parish, just outside New Orleans.
The registrar in Jefferson, Dennis A. DiMarco, said that about 35 percent of the 4,000 cards his office had sorted were invalid because they had no address, the applicant was already registered or was a felon, or the signature did not match one on file at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Another group of cards, he said, was missing information that the office hoped could be obtained by mail.
In Caddo, the registrar, Ernie Roberson, said his office had sorted 6,000 cards, of which only about 2,200 had enough information to be entered into the computer. Many of those, he said, had been kicked back because of nonexistent addresses or duplicate registration.
Normally registrars try to correct such problems. But, Mr. Roberson said, “It’s hard to send a letter to people whose addresses don’t exist in the parish.”
“I have one lady, I have five applications on her,” he continued. “A lot of people, we’ll receive the application and then we’ll receive another one with the same name but one day off on their birthday or one digit off on their Social Security number.”
The East Baton Rouge registrar, Elaine Lamb, reported that she had received 22,000 cards, of which 13,000 could be added to the rolls.
But there is a new twist to their fraudulent ways. More on that:
While Voting Is Power has sent in batches of applications for months, registrars have begun to see a disturbing pattern of misinformation on the forms, including duplicates, cards filled out with different colors of ink, or using the names of pets or dead people. In Jefferson, DiMarco sensed something amiss when a new registration card recently crossed his desk.
The card, partially filled out, had his name and listed his office’s post office box on Citrus Boulevard as the address. It also listed him as a male, a Democrat and African-American.
“And I can tell you I’m only one of those,” said DiMarco, who is white and Republican. There was one bright spot, though. “They flattered me by making me younger — I did appreciate that.”
And not only is Obama connected to ACORN, another prominent politician and her campaign are connected to ACORN. Here is that part of the story.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Washington, paid for the drive because Senator Mary Landrieu, a Democrat, is up for re-election and her voter base in New Orleans was eroded by Hurricane Katrina.
The Democrats and Republicans have different views on the GOTV for Landrieu and the concern for the outcome of the election..
The state Republican Party called the operation “the Dems’ phony registration drive.”
While the Democrats had this to say.
Democrats say the burden is on the registrars to double-check and verify application information.
It is becoming a “broken record” with ACORN and Project Vote, voter fraud, voter fraud, voter fraud…. This time there is an innocent victim, Muslim American Society. Their reputation has been damaged and may never recover from the smear campaign. ACORN/Project Vote is a catalyst for the ” smearing” of MAS.
It is time that someone in DC investigate this organization. That someone should be Congressman Barry Frank. Do your job Mr. Frank, the day of reckoning will be upon you soon!
Once again we are left with a Rotten Acorn, molding on the ground, stinking up the place, ruining the one vote, one person standard!

The purpose is not to get turn out, it is too get them registered so that those who do not show up at the end of the day, with have their votes counted toward whom ever the canidate of choice is at the polling location.
Registration rolls should not be accessable to poll workers. There should be an id card just like in Ohio where you show your card and vote. For those whom say it would dishenfranchise poor people with no access to get an id i say this, if you can get to the polls to vote then you can get an to the voting place for an voters id card.
They have to scan the card to get a number count that way you can compare the tally with votes cast.
votes cast and votes counted didn’t match up in most state primaries. They stopped counting when Obama was losing big.
Indiana requires photo ID and they match your signature that is in the voter registration book. I agree, if you can get to the polls, you can get an ID. Besides, who doesn’t have some sort of ID? you need it for cashing checks, applying for benefits-tons of stuff.
Yeah! Let’s bring back the poll tax! Keep them poor people from voting!
Voter fraud isn’t a problem in this country. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but not to the scary, scary levels being suggested here. IIRC, in 2004, they found two cases of illegally cast ballots.
But, you know, keep up whatever the hell this is.
It appears to be the poor who are being taken advantage of here, no? So you can just drop any appearance of concern for the “poor,” m’kay.
By the way. Here in the Cleveland market. I have seen six McCain ads in a road to 0 for 0bama …
duh … multi tasking is over rated …
By the way. Here in the Cleveland market. I have seen six McCain ads in a
roadrow to 0 for 0bama …Stupid. don’t post because you are too stupid to do so.
Realy? My father who died in Oct 2004, voted in person in Cali in Nov 04. I took my mother to our primary vote this year and low and behold His name was still listed and he has risen from the dead to vote again.
Voter fruad is HUGE in this country. We must demand a change and that ID be shown before voting.
This comment does not make sense. Ohio does not have a voter ID card. Unless it has changed during the 3 years I lived in CA. But I just reregistered here in Ohio two weeks ago. I was not issued a voter ID card at that time, nor was I told I would receive one. I am required to show ID, prefarably with a picture when I go to the polls to vote, such as a drivers license or work ID. I am not sure what the procedure is for someone who does not drive.
“Registration rolls should not be accessable to poll workers.”
That does not make sense either as poll workers have to have a lsit of the registered voters in the precinct in order to determine if someone is registered and therefore eligible to vote or not. In Ohio the registered voter must sign their name next to their printed name and a photo-copy of their signature from their Registration Form in the Registration Book after showing proper ID, such as a drivers license.

For those of you who need your dose of Barky Hypocrisy today…
…aside from saying Sarah Palin has “Zero” experience.
If Hillary were on the ticket, would be worried?
No. Not a bit.
This won’t work, does he realize that McCain is targeting those who said he didn’t have any experience, so he sounds like an idot when he says that. He doesn’t have any either, but we are supposed to vote for her.
And I agree, he has no basis to complain. If he is going to loose the woman vote over this, he should have thought about that before throwing Hillary out the door. Sorry obama is really done this time.
Great post, NancyA.
We know that Bozo “won” the candidacy through fraud and corruption. I’m sure he intends to win the presidency the same way.
ACORN by any other name are just a bunch of Barky’s thugs.
40-year Dem, not voting for McCain-Palin
If you don’t vote, Obama has won.
At least vote for an independent.
Every vote against Obama, HOPEFULLY, counts.
Rethink not voting, please
ID cards when one votes is the ONLY way to help thwart this ACORN FRAUD! Shame on you Obambi!
Where the hell is the DOJ on this?
The Party of Hate and Sexism
What is, however, most interesting and disturbing about the pick has been the response from some on the left. I spent the day on and off perusing some of the leftie websites seeing how they’d react. The fair criticisms (like experience) are drowned out by the overt rage and misogyny of so-called progressives. Here, you have the party of “tolerance” and “diversity” saying she got the job because of sexual favors for McCain. And that is the most benevolent of some of the comments from known hate sites like the DailyKos (also known for anti-semitism). Go there and read the comments if you don’t believe me.
Here we get a shocking moment of honesty and transparency from the left. See, they don’t believe a woman can make it on their own without sexual favors. They’ve already put up websites commemorating the “VPILF” (figure it out). Here is what this should tell you about the left and why this election matters:
http://countusout.wordpress.com/
The only way Barry has a chance in this election, IMO, if he and his ACORN goons can trick-out the voter rolls via voter fraud the same way that the DNC and Obama rigged the caucuses and the nomination.
This has to pursued very aggressively, the repudiation of these dirty, corrupt tactics by Obama and his POS Chicago thugs.
He stole the nomination; he’s not stealing the election.
Tell everyone you know about this. Obama is deeply tied together with ACORN. They are his brown shirts, and I have felt for some time that their numbers and those of similar organizations are the core of Obama’s shock troops.
The Obama campaign is not worried by the polls.
I wouldn’t either if I were them.
Dead and nonexistent people can’t be polled, but they do vote.
Soros in Control of National Voter Mobilization Efforts
August 26, 2008
–George Soros is the prime mover behind America Votes, an umbrella organization of 48 entities involved in various voter-registration and mobilization drives in 14 states. America Votes received $2.15 million from George Soros and $854,000 from co-conspirator Peter Lewis (total over $3 million) in 2006, and $1.25 million (from Soros), along with $1.25 million from the SEIU and $1 million from (Democracy Alliance) Fund for America, in 2007. The Center for Responsive Politics says that, in 2006, they were the second best-financed election committee behind SEIU. In total, America Votes spent over $7 million in 2007, and has already spent $10 million this year. Reading their website, however, it is very unclear as to exactly what they do with all that money.
The board of America Votes (not to be confused with ACORN’s “Project Vote”) is loaded with Soros-connected operatives, including: SEIU director Anna Burger; Paul Booth operative Larry Scanlon; Howard Dean/MoveOn operative Arshad Hason; Center for Community Change director and Open Society advisor Deepak Bhargava; ACORN President Maude Hurd; and former senior advisor to Nancy Pelosi, Shamina Singh. Martin Frost, a former long-term Democratic Congressman from Dallas, is the titular President of the operation.
This money-stuffed Soros-ruled apparatus is perched in an advisory and intelligence-gathering role with various Democrat-affliliated entities. With ACORN’s “Project Vote,” it is to take the place of the moribund regular Democratic Party apparatus.
In May, much was made of Barack Obama’s public call to stop funding “outside organizations,” which he made following a meeting with his finance committee in Indianapolis. The coverage played this as a loss for David Brock’s Progressive Media USA and John Podesta’s Fund for America. Reading the fine print, however, this call indicated a Soros-led shift away from the public media, and toward more covert “voter registration” effort, all the time under his control. “We’re continuing with our fundraising and things have been going well for us,” Frost told an interviewer at that time.
I have to say all the “disenfranchising poor people” talk is bullshit.
I lived below the federal poverty level for several years in my 20’s, and I mean well below, without a college degree or trade skill. I didn’t need anyone to hold my hand in order to vote – if I wanted to vote I found out how. I never accepted unemployment or food stamps, though I did accept federal student aid. I guarantee you that registering yourself to vote, anywhere in this nation, is “like eatin’ lettuce” compared to filling out a student loan application or collecting unemployment or food stamps.
Thanks for this reporting, I hope it gets more widely investigated. I am so disgusted with the Democratic Party this year. The only good thing I can see is that, judging by the convention, the place of HRC and WJC is unshakable – I think they’re both more esteemed than ever, and I hope that when the Obama balloon pops we’ll see a return of the Democratic Party to straight talk and an actual plan for governing, rather than a scheme for manipulating elections and the media.
The DNC cheated Hillary.
Remember Obama got it by acclaimation, not a vote. That should be used when there is a primary election result of 90 to 10, maybe 70-30.
What in the world was the DNC Convention participants thinking, were they thinking, were they under some sort of spell.
I would have voted for Hillary. And I am a registered Republican.
I am McCain-Palin supporter now.
Confident in both of their capabilities to handle whatever comes their way.
They are gonna win even with the cheating.
Gallup ask
Can Sarah Palin Appeal to White, Female Independents? NEW
Answer: YES add two in the last 5 minutes
You BET!
They’re already targeting Palin over her firing of her ex-brother-in-law State trooper.
Funny thing is, if she’d covered for him the screams would be endless. How is it unethical to fire someone without regard to family connections? That makes her dirty? No that makes her ethical and honest.
I LOVE IT !!!! I LOVE IT !!!!! I LOVE IT !!!!!
Did you see Jack Cafferty. He was saying how “ecstatic” the Obama campaign was about McCain picking Palin. How 90 percent of the emails he got said it was a dumb pick. So you would assume he would look like the cat the ate the canary … But instead as he is saying all this, he looks like he will spotaneous compust. He looks pissed. He sounds defensive. I mean the words are the talking pints, but the tone of voice and expressions and overall demeanor is of someone that is clearly worried .
Well, Pawlenty and Romney are pretty upset for getting jerked around. Wouldn’t expect them to keep quiet, either, especially Mitt.
That sound you hear are McCain’s hopes going down the toilet. A more beautiful noise I cannot imagine.
Listen. I know you are new to politics and all, but unlike Barky, McCain had conversations with those vetted but not picked instead of texting them … can you imagine
u r not mi guy …
Move along. Read a newspaper. They are usually put out for free at public libraries.
Romney is a do nothing..ask people in MASS. They couldn’t wait to get rid of him.
Pawlenty is a know nothing..Palin is huge! She exemplifies honor, dignity, ethics, morals, and integrity! go go go! NO CROOKS ALLOWED! WE WON’T VOTE FRO CROOKS!
90% of 10 emails is still only 9 emails. BIG FREAKING DEAL.
*QUOTE OF THE DAY*
Can we please stop hearing from the media about how brilliant Karl Rove and Steve Schmidt are?
Daily Kos
I’m loving it! They’re going to whine and whine and whine – and then they’ll be no more.
I’m loving it!
Yesterday’s Plain Dealer:
ACORN accused of registering fake voters
Thursday, August 28, 2008 Joe GuillenPlain Dealer Reporter
A national organization that registers low-income people to vote has cut back its push in Cuyahoga County after workers were accused of registering phantom voters.
The Cuyahoga County elections board is investigating ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has submitted about 75,000 voter registration cards to the Cuyahoga board this year.
No one knows how many registrations were faked, but the voter registration department received so many suspicious cards that it began compiling a binder with evidence. The binder grew to be an inch thick.
Board employees said multiple ACORN workers often handed in registration cards listing the same people but showing them living at different addresses. Other times, multiple workers submitted cards with identical voter names but showing different dates of birth.
“I’m obviously very concerned,” Board Chairman Jeff Hastings said. “This goes to the essence of our democracy.”
ACORN had a part-time staff of 30 who worked five days a week to find unregistered people.
The workers were paid $8 an hour and had to sign up 20 voters per five-hour shift.
The elections board said in a report that ACORN’s quota contributed to the possible fraud.
ACORN stopped the registration efforts of the part-timers on Aug. 15. Three salaried employees continue the drive to sign up voters.
At its Tuesday meeting, the elections board canceled five fraudulent registrations submitted by ACORN workers.
The cases involved people who already were registered to vote and were alerted to the fraud through notifications that they had been newly registered.
Elections officials do not expect fraudulent registrations to affect the November election. Betty Grant Edwards, manager of the board’s registration department, said voters must provide identification before voting, listing a current address.
If the names and addresses don’t match, voters receive provisional ballots, which are not counted until registrations are verified.
ACORN is a national organization that promotes social justice for low and moderate-income families. It is among many groups that register voters.
In August 2006, elections boards in Franklin and Summit counties investigated potentially bogus registration cards submitted by ACORN.
The Franklin board turned over 500 cards to its county prosecutor, but no charges resulted.
ACORN’s national voter registration director, Kimberly Olsen, said Cleveland voter registration efforts have been wildly successful.
“We hit our goals early, registering 86,000 people in Cleveland proper,” Olsen said Wednesday in a written statement.

See. Registration collectors instructed to do it this way.
I have complained forever about the serial voting or precinct hopping. Truth shall prevail.
A variant of what Darryl said above. The idea is to get the voters on the roles and then vote for them.
I, for one, will be sending a note to our Secretary of State, suggesting that they monitor absentee ballots carefully. If ACORN is able to inflate the rolls with made up names at known verifiable addresses then they will vote them absentee.
I am going to suggest to our SOS the following. Take a random sampling of absentee ballots cast by voters registered this summer and mail a thank you for voting verification letter to them. If such a letter is delivered to Ms. Green’s house, thanking Tom Jones, at her address, for voting. And if the letter says that if Tom Jones does not live there, please call this number. And if a large number real voters respond then emergency action could be taken to test all summer registered absentee ballots.
All election heads should be given the same suggestion. I would go as far as to offer a “reward” to anyone reporting a “mistake.” If this information is not correct, please contact my office. We will pay you $25 for helping the state keep its voter list in order. That might help.
This is why staying home won’t work. They will go down the list of Dem registrations and people who didn’t vote and then cast a vote for Obama. That’s why they are slow in counting the votes. It’s so they can use the list to count votes for people who didn’t cast.
“It is time that someone in DC investigate this organization. That someone should be Congressman Barry Frank.”
Do you mean Barney Frank? Does he head a relevant committee? I would expect him to be approachable on any issue like this – and he supported Hillary until the endish, and is likely not on cool aid.
Here is an idea for an easy sting by the FBI.
Register a number of ficticious voters in fraud suspected precincts, say 10 or 20. When these fake people mysteriously vote, nail the poll workers on election night.
This may be a dumb question, but here goes anyway…
Is the reason there are so many dubious and fraudelent voter registration cards being turned in because the ACORN canvassers collecting these are being paid according to how many they turn in, not by how many are actually valid. If this is so, then perhaps if they were being paid by the hour or on salary, they would turn in more high quality, ie. valid voter registration cards.

STEALING THE VOTES OF AMERICANS IS OUTRAGEOUS !!!
Acorn’s voter fraud registration must be investigated prior to the election. Also, Obama’s involvement must be investigated prior to the election. With the increasing number of anti-American racists and crooks surrounding Obama, we must insure that he does not steal this election. We must also investigate the legitimacy of Obama’s foreign and domestic campaign contributions prior to the election. They should also be investigating those outside of Acorn, who are also being recruited to register by the Obama campaign, like the homeless people, illegal aliens, etc..
