Palin’s Authenticity Is The Obama/Biden Ticket Threat!

dsc_0083_2.JPGWilliam Kristol at The Blog in The Weekly Standard, we are fortunate to be able to read an e-mail he received from Newt Gringich. Newt said to share it widely. This is what Newt had to say:

Authenticity is the one word threat to the Obama-Biden ticket.

There is something going on this weekend which traditional pundits, traditional consultants and traditional politicians are simply missing. All of the normal biography-oriented and issue-oriented analysis misses an emotional gestalt event comparable to when Ronald Reagan in 1980 crystalized his leadership in New Hampshire when he seized control of the GOP debate.

In one sudden moment Friday, John McCain fundamentally changed American politics in a manner that transcends issues and details.

The great threat to the Obama-Biden ticket can be captured in one word: authenticity.

I have done some reading about Governor Palin, mother, mayor, city council member, PTA member and hockey mom…she is authentic (Definition for authentic, an adjective, Conforming to fact and therefore worthy of trust, reliance, or belief and Having a claimed and verifiable origin or authorship; not counterfeit or copied)…..real….and attracts me for reasons that are personal.

I love that she is an avid hunter….my friend back in Georgia was an avid hunter, she had her own deer stand! We differ in some of our stances, she is more than conservative than I am but I feel she would never judge me for being different than her. In fact I believe she would welcome my differences.

And then there is this story about a chance meeting in an Alaskan airport. Elizabeth Eubanks (she is featured in the picture with Governor Palin and Piper) of Polar Teachers & Researchers Exploring $ Collaborating (Polar TREC) was waiting to return home when she had a chance meeting with none other than Governor Sarah Palin and her daughter, Piper. Elizabeth had much to say about Palin.

Of course I had to check out the “Hottest Governor in the US” and quickly turned to see her pregnant (she has since had her baby) with bags and daughter in tote. Then it struck me as odd. Why is the Governor of Alaska in the airport and preparing to get onto my commercial flight?

I questioned PolarTRECer Craig Kasemodel an Alaskan resident. He let me know that Governor Palin sold the corporate jet after securing her official Governor position.

Governor Pallin said she would sell the jet because it was impractical and that the Alaska state inventory would be relieved of this dept. The jet was sold on EBay to Larry Reynolds for 2.1 million dollars.

Financially sound choice for the state of Alaska in my opinion. Too many boondoggles on too many state owned jets in some places!

More from Elizabeth:

Not only is Governor Palin “Hot”, but she is also very kind. I approached the Governor and told her a little bit about PolarTREC and why I was in Alaska. She told me that she knew of the program and then introduced me to her adorable daughter Piper. We chatted about Florida and Barrow, Alaska and flying commercial. She said she really enjoys and prefers flying with people who either live in or are visiting Alaska. She even flies coach! She was kind enough to take several photos with me.

Not only kind but very approachable. It seems she also enjoys meeting new people as well! One last comment by Elizabeth and so very neat!

It was my pleasure to meet such a wonderful person who represents the state of Alaska so well. Governor Palin maybe known to many as “HOT” but as far as I am concerned she is super “COOL” too!

Elizabeth makes me want to meet this lady who I have so much in common with. As I said she is more conservative than me but we are both mothers! We have both worked in male dominated career fields……and somehow I am drawn to that authenticity that Gingrich wrote about!

Drag is more like it. The DNC and their puppets dragged his sorry ass across the primary line. It’s going to be a lot harder now. No superdelegates. No districts to mess with for extra electoral votes. No caucuses.

The newest poll from CNN, Mccain 48%, Obama 49%. The bump from the convention is gone already. Obama was hoping for a 15% advantage after his big speech but no such thing.

John McCain and the GOP timed the Palin announcement to perfection. Friday morning nobody was talking about Obama’s acceptance speech around the water cooler because they were talking about Palin. Let’s see what the polls show at the end of this week after the Republicans have had the chance to tell McCain’s life story to the entire nation.

Comment by MrMike | 2008-09-01 00:27:26

Pay back for Edwards stealing Hillary’s thunder with his endorsement of Obama. At least now we know why he did it.

Comment by Newly Independent | 2008-09-01 04:34:35

Let’s see what the polls show at the end of this week after the Republicans have had the chance to tell McCain’s life story to the entire nation.

McCain is already ahead. But don’t expect the pollsters to tell the truth about it.

The polls (Gallup, Rasmussen, etc.) are doing to McCain EXACTLY THE SAME THING that they did to Hillary during the primary.

Throughout the entire primary, virtually NO major polls had Hillary beating Obama. Of course, they were proven to be a bunch of damn liars – as Hillary not only won the most populous states, she won the overall popular vote. Only in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Puerto Rico (I think) did the pollsters grudgingly admit that Hillary was leading.

That’s why I take the polls with a grain of salt. Even with them saying that McCain is doing better. They’re not going to tell the full truth because it doesn’t fit in with their “Obama” agenda.

So Obama got a huge bump after Hillary and Bill Clinton’s speeches, but lost it after his own. Hmmmm….me thinks on November 5th Obama’s slogan will be, “I should’ve picked Hillary.”

Comment by FranSC | 2008-09-01 00:33:54

In addition to thinking, “I should’ve picked Hillary”, on Nov. 5th, as he mulls over his humiliating loss, he will finally understand that he should have waited 10 years until he had something substantive to point to as to why he would be running for President.

It is unthinkable that he had people around him saying, “The time is now”. On CNN’s biography of BO yesterday, Axelrod said BO’s candidacy was the closest thing to a ‘draft’ that he had ever seen. Oh, please….give us a break! This kind of sanctimonious bull is nauseating.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-09-01 02:12:51

“he will finally understand that he should have waited 10 years until he had something substantive to point to as to why he would be running for President.”

I disagree, he had to go now or he never could. The longer he is around the more baggage he picks up. 10 more years of learning BLT and all of his close relationships with sleaze? He would never have a chance. As of now the only wave he is riding is being black.

People act as if SHE is the one running for President, when they have their own village idiot (Obama) who had less than 100 weeks as junior senator running for the POTUS???????????

Give me a Freakin’ break! They are mad as hell and shocked as hell the Mav picked another Mav.

Comment by Joe Biden's hair plugs speak out! | 2008-08-31 20:47:05

Yes Mav x 2.

Voters go for “attributes” rather than “policy” when making POTUS choice. Authenticity is an attribute that could swing a voter to a candidate.
Trust is a big one, for instance Candidate X can speechify about cutting your taxes and putting a chicken in every pot…but if the voters don’t trust this candidate, they’ll vote for his/her opponent.

DD,
Wherever you read these attacks against Palin where obama supporters claim that she did not give birth to her own child- CHALLENGE THE BLOGGERS- CALL THEM ON IT.
Feel free to include the following article links which discuss this attack on Gov Palin and provide facts which refute the horrible smear…

The daily kos Hate Machine now smears not only Sarah Palin, but her teenage daughter as well. This is despite the fact that on 4/22/2008, in the Anchorage Daily News, the doctor who delivered Sarah’s child, Trig, Dr.Cathy Baldwin-Johnson was quoted as saying:
“Baldwin-Johnson said she had to induce labor, and the baby didn’t come until 6:30 a.m. Friday.”

http://www.adn.com/626/story/382864.html

When Palin was pregnant with Trig, her fifth child, her water broke while she was in Texas. She flew home on an Alaska Airlines flight to give birth at Mat-Su Valley Regional Medical Center.

Plus, for about the past 40 years, US presidential elections have shown a tendency to trend towards the Republican candidate late in the campaign.

Gee, Jon, I thought the $350 my wife and I gave to Hillary, and the $100 I gave to Al Franken meant I was a Democrat. You know what Franken and Clinton had in common? Neither was beloved by lots of the Dem establishment.

On the baby matter, I understand that the slanderous diary was taken down on Kos. (I won’t go there now — it’s bereft of accuracy.) As for “proof”, the baby was born at a hospital in Alaska. It is nearly impossible to have a conspiracy involving hospital officials — nurses, technicians, even doctors, talk. And in a small community?

This insinuation by anti-Palin types is really hitting below the belt.

Comment by katmandu | 2008-08-31 21:12:31

I regret to say that the slanderous document has not been taken down from Kos. I just saw a live link to it on Wonkette. Sorry for the error.

Katmandu-
We need to IMMEDIATELY dispute the facts as presented by Kos and others.

I try to do so whenever I can- These links drive the point home

So far, I have had two dems come to my door for local elections and this is what I told them.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading about Palin too and I noticed something significant. Even though she is a religious conservative, all of her public service has been about fighting corruption and excessive govn spending. She has not used her position to be a zealous advocate for the causes of the religious right, but instead quietly lives a life of principle and sets an example. The more I look, the more I like. She seems more like an independent than a republican.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-08-31 21:31:12

Oh boy, here we go again.

Gov. Palin is more of a libertarian than a conservative. She does not wear her religion or her politics on her shirt sleeve like you do your race. Her husband is not a Republican, so apparently she can work with the opposition.

I don’t agree with any politician 100% of the time. You apparently are a goose-stepper and in lock-step with your false idol and rhat is cult behavior.

The fact that you support Obama’s Democratic Party and post sexist comments shows your position is ridiculous.

It is socially unacceptable to discriminate against women by words or actions. Just like it is socially unacceptable to discriminate against any other group of people, e.g., gays, blacks, children with disabilities.

Its called

“Putting our country First”

Many of us supported Sen Clinton because we believe she is the best choice to serve our country as president.

The Democratic party denied her this opportunity to complete her campaign so we go down the list of remaining VIABLE candidates who have a shot at the presidency and pick (from the remaining pool of available, viable presidential candidates) our choice for president from that list…once again…
BECAUSE WE PUT OUR COUNTRY’S WELFARE AND BEST INTERESTS FIRST.

We transcend party affiliations and political ideologies…We just choose the best candidate for the country. We look at the ENTIRE picture, not just one part of it.

Comment by Darryl | 2008-09-01 04:28:27

Comment by Leisa | 2008-09-01 10:57:49

well, yes… let’s talk issues.

I am sick of people saying that because I supported Hillary I should support the bumbling duo because they care about the same issues as Hillary…

1. I have no proof that statement is true. Where are the actions to back up that claim? His flip flopping makes me believe that he is not a man of his word.

2. Character is an issue for me. I think that a POTUS should not be a former member of a racist and divisive church for 20 yrs, only to leave when it is the expedient thing to do.

a. Ethics… Alice Palmer, back room deals getting legal divorce documents unsealed on his opponent just before the election that won him his US Senate seat, Rezco and his house deal, MI and FL, caucus shenanigans.

b. Integrity ~ Ayers is a man that lives in my neighborhood… Using surrogates to smear Hillary and Bill, accepting the Democratic nomination to run for POTUS knowing that it was a gamed coronation… do not get me started on his lies.

c. Humility ~ this man has none. I see many traits that lead me to believe he suffers from Narcissistic Personalty Disorder. NPD is a serious problem, and that is one reason I call him Bush III.
His ego kept him for asking Hillary to be his VP, so he puts his personal feeling above doing the right thing.

These are just a few reasons why I will not vote for this man. He is the undemocratic “new” Democrat… I also remember Donna B telling those that were not happy can stay home, we (the working class, traditional base of the party) were not needed, they are a “new” party and they do not need us.

According to political analysts, women voters will be a key to the 2008 election.

“We don’t follow, we’re not followers. It’s exciting to see women, both Republican and Democrat, are out there choosing their candidate who they want to stand behind,” said Deanne Hall, voter.

“A lot of people would expect me actually to fall in line behind Obama. But really for me, he doesn’t stand for the things that I stand for,” said voter Jessica Morris.

No matter what the candidates’ strategy, one thing is for sure.
“It is very important that they get the female voters and the reason is because women, if we control for income and control for age, women will go out in larger numbers than men and vote so it’s very important,” said Harris.

She began writing her story before WWII. Jean worked for Fortune Magazine as a researcher because, as she said: “Women weren’t allowed to be writers for the magazines.” Jean’s story is fascinating as well.

http://www.johnmccain.com/ActionCenter/CauseGreaterThan/cause.aspx

“Serving a Cause Greater; A Service Call to All’:

Answer the Call

“I am running for President of the United States because I believe in the greatness of this nation as a beacon of goodwill throughout the world. My friends, each and every one of us has a duty to serve a cause greater than our own self-interest.
“I hope you will take a moment to learn more about these important causes and consider getting involved helping others either here or with the thousands of other organizations serving the greater cause.”

Actually, replacing a state jet with one you borrow from corporations isn’t removing the problem. There may be liability issues that get transferred horizontally to the service provider, but that’s certain to become a bailout issue for true business lobbies in America if it ever got to that point.

There are some righteous people angry at this whole “not her baby” theme. My aunt is not internet savvy just surfs occasionally. The Democrats are losing women left and right over this attack on Govenor Palin and her kids.
It shocked the hell out of me, that my aunt, the one who has no problem saying the only reason she is voting for Obama is because he is black, now says she wont vote for him. I’ll believe it more come november…but my sister in law is just out right pissed that they didnt even attack Senator Clinton in this way but once when they made the joke about Chelsea.

But she did make a good point. Yes she recognizes the so called “historical” aspect of Obama, but she said she would not want her daughter, my niece to be subjected to and treated like Govenor palins daughter. She sent me a link where they had “arrows” pointing to her stomach and what looked like a photoshop pice to prove there point and some of the most horrible comments.

I am going over to pull up info for them. If they intend to switch to vote for mccain/palin I want them to understand the differences between dems and repubs.

No 16 year old deserves what they are doing and I would be livid if it was my child. They have only been on the scene 48hrs. Now the Dems smear children. Its like the primary all over again.

They’re thugs, but they had a reason for acting thus. VP candidates get defined very quickly, sometimes on their first appearance. They tried desperately to discredit Palin and it didn’t work. They blitzed, couldn’t lay a hand on her let alone make the sack, and now she’s rushing in for the touchdown.

Comment by Dan R. | 2008-08-31 22:40:40

And the sad thing is that it’s an entirely predictable reaction from the infantile left, which is what you see on The Daily Kos and the Huffington Compost. The extreme “angry” leftists are, at the core, spoiled children in need of a good spanking. Nothing those foaming-at-the-mouth loons come up with surprises me anymore. God help us if we actually elect one of their own as president.

Comment by McDave_Not_For_Obambi | 2008-08-31 23:22:29

The sad reality is that Palin’s daughter has to live through all this crap from Obambi’s thugs. There comes a point where people, no matter what political stripe, will say enough is enough, the Obambi thugs have crossed that line.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-09-01 02:29:17

McDave — this is the reason I am voting for McCain/Palin — because ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I will not vote for a party which treats women and women candidates in this fashion. When Palin was endorsed by McCain the Republican Party as a whole welcomed her with open arms. I am so ashamed of what the Democrats did to Hillary I want them to see that its not about issues its about principles.

I hope McCain and Palin hit back hard regarding this rumor. That kid does not deserve this kind of vileness. Hillary Clinton can take care of herself, but Palin’s daughter is a kid. You can’t tell her it’s all part of the game and expect her to shake it off. Those barrybots have gone too far. They are going to feel the backlash in a big way.

It’s pathetic the hysteria from the Dems and the personal attacking, again, on a woman and her family. So I take it the Dems’ goal is to push as many over to vote for anyone but Barry? Cause they’re doing a great job of accomplishing this. NQ site is an oasis I might add. D

It’s good to be able to share information for your family to read, so they can decide, and see there are some other things to compare besides this really filthy stuff being put out. Hang in there.

Comment by soldier4hillary | 2008-08-31 21:11:14

Thanx
The thing is, I feel embarrased that they are going this low. Probably because I was a dem before changing to independent. When people like my aunt who is so vocal about the “black historical nominee” decides to not vote for him, that tells me she was really affected by what she was seeing.

She used to pray for Senator Clinton throughout the primaries despite the fact that she didnt vote for her in the SC primary. She hated that they attempted to label them racist. She believes that women should support one another and that some things are beyond party affiliation. Listening to her tell stories about how far we have come always get to me.

I may not agree with Governor Palin’s policies or the republicans, I may not like Senator Clinton supporting a party that has turned into crap. But despite those things whether we agree or not, some things will bring people together.

The hardest thing I have ever done was to turn my back on my party but I cannot and will not endorse the attacks on a candidate because she’s a woman. This takes the cake for the most cruel attack during an election ever. It is sickening. These people, and I know the Obama campaign is behind this, are depraved. That Comfort Room at Christ Hospital that Rev. Wright told Obama to use to try to get out of BAIPA, as well as this, tells me that Obama has zero respect for human life. He may even be a sociopath. You nailed it, Larry.

What it comes down to, and why the bots are so frustrated and panicked, is because whether you agree with her or not, Sarah Palin is authentic. She is and always has been exactly what she holds herself out to be. Whether you like her narrative or not, the reality of her life MATCHES her narrative.

That scares them shitless, because they know that the One does not match his manufactured narrative AT ALL. It’s a complete fabrication, spun of words and imaging and astroturfing.

Her very existence shows him up for the fraud that he is. This has nothing to do with political ideology, it has to do with being who you say you are.

She is, he isn’t. That has them terrified.

Obama loses spotlight to new rival

BEAVER, Pa. — Just 12 hours after delivering a historic acceptance speech, Barack Obama was no longer the story.

The Democratic presidential nominee and his running mate, Joe Biden, left Denver on Friday for a three-day bus tour of battleground states, pressing populist themes as they rolled through struggling western Pennsylvania but finding themselves overshadowed by the newly minted Republican ticket.

John McCain’s surprise choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential nominee reshaped the first post-convention day for the Democratic Party, robbing its candidates of the full media spotlight.

“If John McCain wants to have a debate about foreign policy,” Obama continued, “I am happy to have that debate.”

Obama has gone from “the One” to sick pervert in one twenty four hour period.

Everyone! And I mean everyone, with out exception who is told about Obama attacking the 17 year old girl and the 4 month old baby are repulsed by the sick perverted depravity of the man.

He has totally destroyed any chance he had of winning in November and the fire storm over this outrage may destroy the Democratic Party.

There are some things you just don’t do.

There are some lines you just don’t cross.

The DNC is going to go down in the coming shit storm if they do not condemn Obama for this sick pedaphilic attack on a 4 month old baby and strip him of the nomination.

The American people in their decency will destroy any one who does this, or allows this to be done to an infant.

God help the DNC if they fail to act and act fast to cut their losses.

What Obama has done is beyond the bounds of all human decency and an outraged public is going to tar with a very broad brush.

If Howard Dean and the DNC does not strip Obama of the nomination by tomorrow at the latest, the Democratic Party will pass into History and be forever scorned.

PUMAs rise up and defend this Mother, this Girl, This Baby.

PUMAs rise up and ignite the fires of indignation in the American People over this depraaved act.

Start a fire storm over this sick depraved act and bring down this depraved degenerate.

March, Picket, do sit ins, storm Congress, Network studios and local T.V stations demanding the removal of this sick rabid dog.

Put every Democratic Candidate from Nancy To Dog Catcher on the hot seat.

Seek his political scalp for this outrage and don’t settle for any thing but his scalp.

Comment by William L. Donlon | 2008-08-31 22:37:30

NQ Popcorn, Thanks for asking.

The Daily Kos ran the Obama attack on the girl and the baby on Friday.

I reported it to No Quarter at about 5:00 P.M.and several people went to the site and saw it for themselves.

Other sites, (Little Green Footballs, Hot Air, etc.) saw the smear against the Baby and the Girl and linked to it on their sites.

Hundreds of people if not thousands saw the Obama attack on the girl and the baby before he took it down.

Female reporters on the bus tour found the smear against the baby and the girl with their lap tops and confronted Obama.

Obama was forced to take the smear down and started a new smear attacking Palin for causing the infants condition.

Alan Colmns amoung others picked up the New Obama smear and ran with it.

It has also been linked on several sites and denounced.

The Shit hit the fan yesterday and they have been very busy cleansing their sites and claiming that the smears are a figment of our imaginations.

Little Green Footballs tracked some of these smears back from surrogate sites to Obama’s “Fight The Smears” site,

These Obama tactics are not new and were used against Hillary in the Primary fight.

All of this and more is widely known and circulating on the web, in e-mails and on talk radio.

The talk is growing ugly and the people are outraged at Obama and the Dems.

There is a fire storm building over Obama attacking the girl and the Baby.

There is much, much more but I’ll stop there.

Ummm, Kos is saying that Sarah realy didn’t have a Down’s syndrome baby, her 17 year old daughter did and that she is covering for her by claiming it’s hers. AND Alan Colmes said that it was Sarah’s fault that her baby had Down’s because Sarah’s water broke but she waited to get back home to Alaska and her own OB/gyn before seeking help. I’m not shitting you.

Comment by vinnie | 2008-09-01 00:07:39

I sent this to cadaver Colmes, all he had to do was google. Oh, and I relayed a message from my sister to Alan on this issue “STFU if you don’t know what you’re talking about!”

Question: What are the causes of Down Syndrome?

Answer: Most of the time, the occurrence of Down syndrome is due to a random event that occurred during formation of the reproductive cells, the ovum or sperm. As far as we know, Down syndrome is not attributable to any behavioral activity of the parents or environmental factors.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-08-31 23:55:36

The Orange Sewer and Huff Po started the attacks. They know conservatives and Independents alike respect Sarah Palin’s courage for having a child with Downes Syndrome, since she is pro-life. So, Obama started a whisper campaign that the 16 year-old daughter was the one who was pregnant and accused Sarah Palin of faking a pregnancy as a cover for her daughter. It is a filthy lie, and women are furious.

Comment by athy | 2008-09-01 02:49:12

Hillary’s SimplyTheBest-
Here are somelinks that can provide background…

Comment by Annie Oakley | 2008-09-01 11:58:22

I’m still trying to grasp this new circle of hell, but my first “HUH?” was – as you said, what if it is actually true. Just for kicks, let’s suppose that it is true. AND? SO? WHAT?

If, if, IF this was some plot to protect her daughter, they would be going exactly where with this? That she lied and is not trustworthy? Would the media then examine Obie’s lies? His relationship with Rezko is already a bigger lie than Sarah Palin’s would be and it is a lie told to advance his power at the expense of ours. Sarah Palin’s lie would be to protect her child. Good luck promoting Obie with that. If these jackasses want to make this election, one of great import to the welfare of our nation, about “Cinderella” and tabloid smears about her family, then I’m voting for Palin.

I have spent my life on the political left hoping to advance an agenda consisting of issues like health care and publicly funded elections. I can honestly channel Ob when I say, “this is not the Left I knew.” I’ve received the shock of my life to find out what the party stands for now. I am not sure whether this is the party as it always was but deceived me, or is what the party has become under the new management. Today I am an Independent. Tomorrow I may be a Republican. Yesterday I fought Newt Gingrich. Today I agree with him. Sarah was authentic. She appeared as the fresh face and change that Obama said we needed. If McCain and Palin are running on an anti-corruption ticket, may the deities I want kept out of government (and I believe Palin would do better than Obama on that count) make their victory swift and certain. May they win with a mandate and actually – at long last – make a start on the reform needed in Washington. This is the platform the Dems should have run on but didn’t. Too bad. Instead, they snatched the mantle of corruption and dirty tricks from the Republicans.

I like Palin. I’ve liked her for months and I am a Democrat, or rather I was. She is not a scary right winger.

I think for some women it’s going to take some time to get to know her. Some are viewing her as a Hillary subsitute, almost an insult, a token woman. She is not Hillary Clinton, but they do share the same kind of tenacity. And empathy, that ability to recognize that you are serving real people. Serving them.

Today someone said she has more executuve experience then the other three candidates, combined. That made me laugh, because it really is true. Even compared to McCain she’s handled more budgets, supervised more departments.

Oops. Time for another installment of Condemnation, the regularly scheduled news conference where the Democratic nominee wastes precious time discussing to death campaign personnel and associates who are soon to be thrown under the bus and why he, personally, was unaware that these sort of actions were being taken without his direct knowledge. This week’s topic is Sarah Palin.

And remember to stay tuned for the next show, tentatively schedule for each day during the Republican Convention.

Did you all see that in the NY Times they are saying that McCain’s pick of Palin may place cause Hillary Clinton to play a stronger role in Obams’s campaign. Can you believe the audacity of this creep? Now they want Hillary to try to save Obama’s ass when he could gice a rats ass about her. She should have been the nominee against McCain not a lightweight like Obama. Hillary should not be “pimped” by Obama to get him elected. The democrats are evil people right now. I cannot believe the party I used to be so devoted to. Obama is a change agent alright. Change the party from decent to corrupt and greedy. I will not only vote for McCain but campaign my heart out for him in my state.

If the handicapped child is her daughter’s there is going to be a HUGE outpouring of sympathy. Especially from mothers.

Protecting a child under these conditions is not “deceit” it merely shows that you are a RARE national candidate with real life experience.

I would respect her all the more.
(But will add, that it was a great relief, many years ago, that my own 16-year-old wanted to terminate her pregnancy. Thank God, there was a clean clinic, with an experienced sympathetic physician in the community.)

Comment by katmandu | 2008-08-31 23:03:44

Here are some very persuasive debunkings of the malicious pregnancy story. First, a blog from a teacher who met the obviously pregnant Palin in April 2008 (with a picture):

http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/2008/08/30/dailykos-rumors-debunked-here-is-sarah-palin-pregnancy-photo-on-feb-10th-2008/

Here are a series of pictures of Palin’s pregnancy. Note also that the alleged “pregnant daughter” pic was in fact taken in 2006, not 2008. http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/2008/08/30/dailykos-rumors-debunked-here-is-sarah-palin-pregnancy-photo-on-feb-10th-2008/ You can check out the origins of these pictures by legitimate news organizations, such as http://www.abcnews.go.com/Travel/Story?id=5690619&page=1

anchorage daily news reports trig palin as being born on april 18th.

the entire “posting” looks faked and is probably intended to just stir up more controversy.

THE AUDACITY OF AUTHENTICITY

This choice is brilliant in so many ways, it’s astounding. Whether you agree with Palin 100% or not, she knows who she is, where she came from, and what she’s about. That authenticity is powerful and transformational, and is a perfect contrast to Obama, who can’t seem to figure out where he came from or what his core beliefs are.

The choice draws a direct comparison between a champion of good government and the cesspool of the Chicago machine. It allows Americans to consider whether change is going to come from an insider who worked the Chicago machine, or someone who ran AGAINST the machine.

The choice allows McCain to pivot, and stop arguing about experience (which wasn’t going to win anyway; look how far that got Hillary given the MSM’s refusal to vet Obama), and instead establish two new themes for his campaign which American’s care about–pork/corruption in government, and energy policy. Palin’s choice speaks volumes about where McCain wants to take the debate, and Palin will be able to talk personally and powerfully about these issues.

The selection of Palin has lured the Obamabots into making the experience arguments (which apparently matter only when not applied to Obama). Suddenly, a story line that wasn’t going anywhere is finally resonating with the MSM. Ruh roh–problem is, Palin stacks up pretty well when you examine the facts. And, uh oh, Dems have inexperience at the TOP of their ticket.

Whether you agree with the approach or not, the fact is, the MSM has been infatuated with Obama because he’s younger, attractive, and is something “new and fresh.” Now I don’t think that’s what elections should be about, but since the issues don’t seem to matter to the MSM or, strangely enough, to voters this cycle, can you blame McCain for deciding to “see your Obama and raise you a Palin.” Call this a beauty contest if you like, but now the playing field is level. If you just want to see someone “new” in power, or wanted to break a ceiling, now the voters have a choice to do that without risking it at the top of the ticket.

The choice allows McCain to “cowboy up” the Maverick, and echo his hero Teddy Roosevelt, a powerful theme and story line for the campaign.

Oh, and about that cowboy thing, seems like Palin’s going to be pretty popular with Westerners, and help out McCain in places like Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Montana, etc. where McCain was struggling a little.

Oh, and about that up-by-the-bootstraps, union member, struggling to make a living and raise your children, NASCAR and SNOWMOBILE, faithful Rust Belt voter, (you know, all those blue collar, bible thumping, gun toting Hillary bitterers), who do you think’s going to appeal most to that demographic in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Michigan? I hear the Wal-Mart voters are going NUTS for Palin, something like 70% McCain to 30% Obama.

We probably don’t need to spend much time here, but the choice between the intellectual narcissist and the woman of action is pretty powerful as well. Thank God McCain didn’t chose a lawyer, a man cursed with the stilted Bush syntax, or a parsel tongue, and instead chose someone like himself who can give a straight answer to a direct question.

Did we mention she can talk without a teleprompter, and seems to be speaking directly to American’s hopes and aspirations?

Let’s see, then we’ve got all that “voting present” (i.e., someone who’s afraid to take a stance because it might cost them votes later) against someone who risked her position, and has at least three significant, major accomplishments she can take credit for. Let’s see, Obama’s not been running ‘nuthing but his mouth, while Sarah’s been running a state. . . Excuse me, who lacks experience?

The choice of Palin allows McCain to reinforce his personal character, which the election experts tell us is more important than policy positions. We now have two authentic heros running at the top of one ticket who made significant moral choices demonstrating the highest degree of integrity at great personal sacrifice and cost, and embracing those choices. Two Americans who have walked the walk. Now, I’m not saying these folks are even close to perfect, but what similar accomplishment has emerged from the crucible of character on the Democratic ticket’s side? The insider deal that allowed Obama to buy a mansion he couldn’t otherwise afford? All those courageous “present” votes? Disenfranchising Michigan and Florida, and prohibiting a normal roll call vote. The plagiarist . . . .Hmmmmmm.

Then there’s the fact that McCain ignited the Republican base and they are ON FIRE like I’ve never seen from either party. How much money did Biden bring to the campaign in the first 72 hours after his announcement?

And can we talk for a minute about forced errors. Right down the door, after finally getting Hillary voters to come around, the Axelrod machine (I swear he’s scarier than Rove) has to go into overdrive and demean, belittle, and even slander the choice because of her gender. Do they learn nothing? Kerry has launched a nuclear attack on the choice, and the rumor is that Hillary’s arm is being twisted to try and do the smack-down. And then there’s Democratic women in elected positions who have been so misoyginistic it’s scary. Biden’s already called her pretty, Obama calling her sweetie has to be just around the corner . . . McCain knows Biden on thirty years–you think he might have had some fun and gone out of his way to push some buttons here? I think we can expect more unforced errors from Team Obama before this election’s over.

The smarter than thou set has gone so ballistic that the expectations are now so low for Palin that she will be perceived to have hit a home run if she can walk and chew gum at the same time. Unless she’s gaffe prone on the national stage, I think she’s going to consistently outperform the weirdly low expectations for her success.

Finally, McCain has chosen to spotlight the next generation of Republican leaders. It now seems pretty clear in hindsight that McCain needed a pick from the next generation (although the possibility of Romney’s fund-raising and ability to fire up Mormons in the West and hit the trail hard in Michigan and New Hampshire seemed fairly attractive). While Jindal, Pawlenty, Cantor and Palin are all accomplished, talented, and appealing new voices, and I hope we’ll be hearing more from all of them in the future, it’s pretty clear that Palin brings the most to the table.

Ironically, it doesn’t seem like the fact Palin is a woman was all that important–it seems like her moral courage and principled decision making are the keys, and her gender not so important. Isn’t that how a leader is supposed to make important decisions. Not that it will stop the MSM and Obambots from belittling the tokenism of this choice with a straight face. Good for you, Senator McCain. And CONGRATULATIONS, Governor Sarah Palin. We’re proud to know you!

Comment by McKatmoon | 2008-08-31 23:04:54

Time to stop chanting “change” and ask what kind of change. Do we want to go from the frying pan to the fire? Do we want change for the sake of change, or was there a purpose? A champion not a cesspool.

The choice draws a direct comparison between a champion of good government and the cesspool of the Chicago machine. It allows Americans to consider whether change is going to come from an insider who worked the Chicago machine, or someone who ran AGAINST the machine.

I was thinking today that the McCain-Palin relationship reeks of authenticity! Her reforming/maverick spirit matches the image, at the very least, that McCain has cultivated over the years.

This means the vibes they send out are very strong…and she has credibility because she hasn’t flip-flopped about her views as compared to McCain’s.

On the other had, you see Obama talking about bankrupty bills, while his running mate Biden voted for it. Same thing with the Iraq war…Biden voted for that, too, which sort of weakens Obama’s claim to being against it…

He only needs 4% of Democrats to win. There are plenty of women who admire his VP choice and her remarkable accomplishments she has put together in so short a time. She disagrees with HRC on everything under the sun, but uses HRC’s name in every speech she gives. If she is independent let her run her own race, why the heck to bring HRC in to it????

I live in an area that this time of the year is filled with retirees. Today I moseyed around a local art festival, running into friends, neighbors and acquaintances who had relatives and friends along who were visiting for the holiday weekend. I was amazed at the number of the retirees who are thrilled that Senator McCain chose Governor Palin. The women, all on the other side of 65 were saying the more they heard about her, the more impressed they are with her. The men (many close to 80 or older) were all saying it’s long past time for a woman to be on a presidential ticket. These people tend to be moderate to conservative, having always voted Republican, Reagan Democrats or union Democrats (i.e. they tended to vote for whoever the UAW was endorsing during their working years).

I wouldn’t have expected this age group to embrace a woman on the Republican ticket as quickly as the retirees have. One neighbor who is 64 told me he had planned to abstain from the presidential vote but now that Palin has been added, he’s considering changing his mind and voting for McCain and Palin because he thinks it’s long past due for a woman to be on a presidential ticket.

The retirees are unhappy with Obama’s policies. The taxing of houses over 2400 sq. ft. (my understanding this is an urban legend, but many have heard it and believe it) and raising the investment income capital gain and dividend tax from 15% to 28% doesn’t have them doing the happy dance. They have Medicare and while it isn’t perfect and they’re paying more out of pocket for health care, they aren’t worried enough about health care to vote for Obama.

The Democrats have really missed the boat this election. First, they rigged the primaries for their chosen candidate and when they could have added Senator Clinton or another woman to the ticket, they played it safe with a 60 something white male father figure for Senator Obama. While the Democrats are stuck on the dock without a boat or an oar, Senator McCain is sailing around with demographic groups swimming out to jump onto is boat.

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-09-01 02:22:55

That’s the worst part of rigging the primaries. The Democrats never listened to the people in this country. They made up their own minds and pushed Obama on voters. Plenty of people liked him, but they turned far more people off. He would have benefitted from a fair fight, too.

To paraphrase a favorite Dem of mine, this is the answer I have for all trolls who just can’t understand my vote for McCain:

It’s the ethics, stupid!

I also think the press is going to warm up to Sarah Palin very quickly, as she is very accessible. The contrast with the disappearing, “you already asked me 8 questions” Obama is huge.

Palin is indeed very genuine….its amazing how a PTA Hockey mom can give one speech and I already know more about her and what she will do for our Country and Obama has been talking HOW LONG NOW? Then he disses her? He should be LEARNING from her !!!!!

Obama’s resume is….Community Service….that is all nice but…ALL of us are not on government assistance…what about the REST OF AMERICA? Since…he only went to THOSE COMMUNITIES that WERE recieving government assistance? All he is gonna do for us is tax businesses so they will move to Mexico or some other country and put us out of work while raising our taxes to pay for socialist programs?

Obama’s Foreign Policy Experience= How many terrorists he knows and loves in 3rd world countries, He wants to “talk” to them, cause they are his friends and America is much less safe with him as President….

Sarah’s Foreign Policy Experience…= I have 5 kids so since we are only going to “talk” to the terrorists…I feel I will be a MUCH better negotiator !!!! And after all….which will the terrorists be more afraid of? Their own brother holding a food stamp card…..or Sarah, a mooose hunter with a gun who KNOWS how to use it? LOL?

Sorry….I gotta go with the moose hunter on this one Obama lol !!!!!

Outdone by a mom with 5 kids, a woman with a 90% approval rating in her state as Governor….a PTA member, NRA member….moose hunter….pageant winner too….something Michelle will NEVER achieve …Ms Congenaility with those killer looks she gave to Hillary during her speech lol….wheew girlfriend…what IF your face freezes that way…oh sorry !!!! It already has :) LOL :)

SORRY OBAMA….you have just been outdone by someone REAL….who promises REALISTIC goals and NOT PIPE DREAMS !!!!! And more than that…has already TOLD US what she has done as opposed to your RUNNING away from interviews where you will be asked SPECIFICS and asked “hard questions” America wants to hear !!!!! Oh….and AGAIN you DISS “small town America” !!!!!! Why? Cause we aren’t inner city and got JOBS? LOL? Dems don’t like Sarah cause Sarah don’t like waste and they may have to apply for WORK lol :) Why does Obama not like Sarah Palin? (joke) Cause she has 5 kids and KNOWS who the father is ….LOL :) She hasn’t engaged in affairs all over the world….SHE HAS CLASS, CHARACTER, MORALS….

She has obviously give 100% to everything she does….and so has her husband….they are TOP in sports, top in raising their family….top in being Alaska’s Governor….top in championship snowbilling…granted some things arent important…its still CHARACTER and shows the type of people they are….This leads me to know …she will give 100% as VP too….

The O should be scared because Palin is exactly what McCain need, Hillary was robbed of hers run, so lets vote experience and just knowing she has more integrity and character, along with experience than O in his left ear, and look she even has a conviction on fighting for the people and doing what is right to fight corruption, which I think she needs to clean up the Democratic party with Hillary and send allot of them home with disgrace, of working with voter frauds. Nobama ever Mccain Palin I own my vote Puma. proud

ohh I just found another eason to like palin inspite of her conservative views. Palin supports the war, but her own son is heading to iraq. Ladies and gentle man, behold a politician able to put her money where her mouth is.

It almost seems as though the Honorable Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, was custom designed for a grand McCain advantage.

1. Palin has little experience so that this invokes ire from Obama; but Palin has more experience than Obama — enough to cause Obama and the Obama campaign to back down and shut up. This is Obama Cringe you can believe in.

2. Palin is, as others have described, a “fresh breath of air.” She is an outsider far from Washington, but a very skilled and talented rising star in conservative government.

3. Palin is pro-life and pro-gun rights and pro-drilling. Need more be said. Go America!

4. Palin is a conservative and has the righteous right “glowing” with excitement. As a matter of fact, Palin’s selection energizes the right, the center (Independents and others,) and caring Democrats; many of whom feel shafted by the DNC (PUMA and “Hillary to McCain” Democrats.)

5. Palin is not just a woman. Palin is a hard working and caring mother and wife. Her heart is set on her family and also the people she serves. She really cares about the issues that are important to voters.

6. McCain’s selection of Palin leaves the Democrats wondering what the hell they’re doing with but a “plug” (Joe Biden).

7. In a country of Judicial, Congressional and Executive governance; Palin fits the bill — she has more executive experience than Obama and Biden. Both of those guys have NO executive experience. They also do not have Commander-in-Chief experience — which Palin has as Governor of Alaska.

8. All of the DNC hype for Hillary has now translated into very positive and favorable acceptance of Palin among both men and women, young and old. The race to support Palin is amazing.

9. Palin is a very attractive and accomplished woman; a very worthy role model for young women in America.

10. Palin represents admirable qualities and honesty — strong character; a willingness also to seek out corruption and expel it from government.

I completely agree that the sudden surprise that introduced Gov. Palin simply floored Obama and his campaign staff so much so that they’re still tripping over themselves.

Not really. He’s still up 6 in the latest Gallup, 49% to 43%. Also the dirt is piling up on Palin. Once America gets past the surface on her and sees the sesdy underbelly, McCain is finished.

Obama’s campaign is premised on selectively focusing on certain parts of his past and omitting the rest as if it never existed.

For example, not only did his convention bio film omit his mentor Jeremiah Wright, his “moral compass” Father Pfleger, and his biggest financial backer, Tony Rezko the Syrian-born slumlord, but it made no reference to the four years he spent (from ages 6 to 10) in Indonesia with his Muslim stepfather Lolo Soetoro who adopted him.

According to the March 15 Paul Watson LA Times article, Obama “bowed to Allah” in the neighborhood mosque he attended on some Friday nights with Lolo.

Barack was registered as a Muslim at a Catholic school and then a public school where he had weekly classes in reading aloud from the Koran in Arabic. Witnesses say he wore a special sarong.

Though he admitted the Muslim classes in his first memoir, Obama now lies on his website fightthesmears and falsely claims he was never a Muslim as a child.

Yet he admits he was not a Christian until he joined Trinity in 1988. So before that he was either a Muslim or an atheist – take your pick.

Despite her surface support of Obama to look like a team player, Hillary knows her only hope to be President in 2012 is for Obama to lose in November. Indeed, if Palin becomes McCain’s successor, it becomes more likely Hillary would get the 2012 Dem nominee (on an I told you so theme) for an all female battle.

The Obama Bin Biden ticket (aka Smug & Plugs) must be defeated to teach Howard Dean and his corrupt crew a lesson.

Comment by Will | 2008-09-01 11:54:32

Of course I can’t stand Obama, for the dirty campaign he ran, and his shallow cliches and canned rhetoric. He also stole the Clintons’ policy agenda: middle class tax cuts, fiscal responsibility, healthcare, bipartisanship, strategic investment, green energy, etc… And that’s what he’ll use to govern.
They may have defeated Hillary, but they can’t do without the Clintons’ policies. And that’s all that matters to me.
I want what’s best for the country, and I would never be like Nader’s Traitors who destroyed the party from the inside. So I’ll vote for Obama in a N.Y. minute. I just can’t listen to him.

This election is coming down to a referendum on the candidates’ “sense of life.” A “sense of life” is a sub-conscious appraisal of man and of existence.

Which do you choose?

The candidate that whines and parades his own and other people’s sores as a virtue and offers excuses when he doesn’t accomplish the results he said he was going to accomplish, or the candidate who takes what life deals him/her in stride and accomplishes real results?

The candidate who obfuscates on everything and works hard to not let you know who he is or the one that clarifies and is willing to let you know everything about who he/she is?

The candidate who deals with people to be manipulated and used, or the candidate who will offer herself for investigation if you think she did something wrong?

The candidate who is afraid of what you will think of his past such that he has thrown overboard his supporters and “friends” and isolated himself, or the one who is not afraid of his/her past and has plenty of real support and is not isolated?

The candidate who has to seek the support of unthinking mobs counting on their numbers to affirm his validity, or the candidate who is willing for you to judge him/her on his merits?

The candidate who has trouble conveying his patriotism by his actions and his past when there should be no doubt about the issue, or the candidate who without doubt is patriotic and has demonstrated that by his actions?

Given that the candidates are so starkly different in this issue, one’s vote this year is also a referendum on one’s own sense of life.

We get to choose. Which will it be?

[...] Palin’s Authenticity Is The Obama/Biden Ticket Threat! (by NancyA at No Quarter) William Kristol at The Blog in The Weekly Standard, we are fortunate to be able to read an e-mail he received from Newt Gringich. Newt said to share it widely. This is what Newt had to say: “…In one sudden moment Friday, John McCain fundamentally changed American politics in a manner that transcends issues and details. The great threat to the Obama-Biden ticket can be captured in one word: authenticity.” Is she authentic?  I have no idea.  But is she MORE authentic than what John: south of Melrose calls the arugula left?  See below for his opinion.
