Have you noticed how zealously the Republicans are keeping Palin away from reporters and questions? There is a very good reason. They would quickly penetrate the public, sanitized “veneer” of VP candidate Palin. Newsweek says it best “There’s no better measure of her (Palin)character and convictions than dueling with press and the public on a regular basis.” Women should be disgusted with the way that they are being manipulated by the MCCain campaign. I would vote for my grandmother for VP, even though she passed away several years ago before I would cast a vote for Palin. She is the worst credentialed and experienced VP candidate in the history of the U.S. We absolutely cannot afford to put in office a person as VP that is not fully vetted BY THE PUBLIC AND PRESS!

how in the HELL would you have any idea what a mother is or isn’t capable of?? BASED ON FUCKING WHAT?? Your “superior knowledge”?? Are you a woman, ever been pregnant, ever nursed or cared for a child? No I didn’t think so. When a man can give birth then they can pass out advice otherwise opening that hole in your face just shows further proof of the empty space between your ears.

The question is “how would a man in the Presidency handle the same situation?”

In a real world, he would stay in the Middle East brokering the deal for the good of humankind while his wife and family care for the sick child – and then return home as quickly as possible.

It would be a stressful, heartbreaking situation but that’s the kind of sacrifices the leader of the free world makes.

I fully trust Sarah Palin to know her priorities and attend to them appropriately. She apparently has a wonderful, loving husband and family who can step in to cover the “wife and mother” role if necessary.

Think outside the box – it’s a new world for women politicians and the public who elects them.

Why? What’s wrong with the father?? Where I work we have parental leaves for the FATHER who –in my profession– is the one usually spending more time at home after the 2 months leave buisness give the mother. And FATHERS do a damn good job.

Your comment seems pretty backwards socially and culturally. It is a complete fallacy nowadays.

Sarah may be able to take her baby to work with her and nurse during a meeting as Governor of Alaska – a state with a population of 626,000 people. It is a different story being the VP of the United States. No CEO in any corporation would do such a thing. I think a woman with children is certainly capable of being the VP or president of the US, but I do question the judgment and “family first” priority of a new mother with a newborn having special needs.

When it comes down to it, where will her allegiance be? With the MILLIONS of people relying upon her to lead the country, or with her children, whether they be pregnant, sick or whatever the issue? Will she be in the Middle East brokering a peace deal and suddenly have to fly home to attend to the health care needs of her infant son? She would be a cruel, heartless mother if she did no less, but she will be an ineffective, laughable joke of a world leader if she places her family priorities ahead of her country.

I’m a Republican, and I know that the base is fired up over the Palin pick. Expect some mention of the abuse at the convention – not a full frontal attack against Obama (on this point alone), but some reference to the unwarranted attacks against Palin.

Conservative 527s are now ready willing and able to throw down on behalf of McCain. You know the way Dems were about Kerry…”I’ll hold my nose and vote for him”…that’s the way a lot of Republicans were about McCain before he picked Gov. Palin.

My opinion about the Obot MSM and the Palin “controversy” is, to coin a phrase:
sound and fury signifying nothing.

Because when those politically tone deaf idiots keep harping on Bristol’s pregnancy, Middle America is seeing someone in their family criticized: a niece, a sister, a daughter, themselves, even…and it opens up the question in the viewer’s mind: What is the big deal, why are we not talking about the Presidential candidate?
