This is what I’m seeing from those who think we should fight dirty, anything goes, everyone, including children of family members are “fair game”. Below are the comments I’m seeing on a few of the blogs. Below are those who approve of playing dirty…..

XXX sent me a link to this, and so I read it. My take is exactly the opposite, for a variety of reasons. I do not think this is anyone’s business but the Palins. Period.
I do not think it has relevance to any public position Gov. Palin may take. Period.
I think that, especially since Bristol Palin is still technically a minor, she should be off-limits. Period.
And, in reference to XXXXXX – you want to emulate those scumbags? Sorry, but I don’t play that way. They are vile. I realize that if you wrestle pigs, you’re bound to get some shit on you. That’s why you don’t wrestle pigs. It’s that simple.
I offer these views with all dues respect, because, XXXX, I happen to read your blog fairly regularly, and while I do not comment (normally), I felt compelled to on this issue. I like you blog and respect your views. They just differ from mine. That’s all.
Ok, so you get my drift. Apparently I’m not the only one who feels that this particular type of muckraking is the smart way to win an election. Not only did Obama himself disapprove of this line discussion going on with his supporters, as is pointed out by BAC of YIKES, but the well known Chicago news columnist, John Kass, wrote about it today in the Chicago Tribune. A few excerpts below from his column shows his disdain for this behavior.

Ask the left-wing Internet haters, the anonymous=2 0propagandists who call themselves bloggers on the Daily Kos.
And ask Bristol Palin, who didn’t deserve it, and was a victim of the rumor-mongers consumed with attacking her mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican running mate of Sen. John McCain, because the mother is a conservative and opposes abortion.
The Internet rumors claimed that Sarah’s baby, Trig, born four months ago with Down syndrome, wasn’t really hers but her daughter’s. They plucked some photos from the Internet, photos out of sequence, to make it appear as though Gov. Palin hadn’t been pregnant, proving once again that on the Internet, the casualties are credibility and civility. Reading it, you could almost hear the saliva dripping from their teeth as they typed anonymously.

When I was just starting out as a reporter, a wise old newspaper man told me his rule: Don’t ever write about their kids. Leave the kids alone, unless the child runs for office, or pulls down some fat government contract, or if the parent hauls them out as a shield before an indictment. Leave them alone, he said, because the kids don’t deserve it, because they’re civilians.

Even though the rumors about Sarah Palin not being the mother of her own son, there are some who are not willing to let it go and some that are expanding their filthy smears against the father of Bristol’s baby. For those who continue to claim that Sarah is not the mother of Trig, get a freakin’ calculator out if you can’t do the math. For those who are now going after Bristol and her teen aged husband to be, get a freakin’ soul for gosh sakes!
Sure, Democrats can wallow in the mud just like the Republicans have been known to do. They can emulate Anne Coulter, Karl Rove, and Rush Limbaugh, but where will it get them? Will they win this race for Obama? It may or may not, but is it worth lowering yourselves to the lowest common denominator in order to achieve this goal? Is it worth losing your dignity or your compassion? Is that not the part of you that you are proud to display or is this what you want all to see?
John Kass said it best in the last sentence of his column, “So the crooked blade swings from the right and the left. The use of children as a weapon leaves a terrible stain, on the kids, on the losing candidates, on the winners, and on all of us.”

Excellent point, Perry Logan. The Republican party, has been splintering for the last decade or more, all because of their hypocrisy and dirty tricks. Now, it looks as if the latte drinking Kossak’s and Moveon’ers are going to do the same to the Dem party. This is the group that Dean is counting on to win this election and they will try to do it by cheating at the polls and going so far as to smear innocent kids for their anointed one. If Obama wins because of these tactics, the party will never be the same again. If he loses, we have a chance to bring it back to the way it was.
I agree, too. I always felt Kerry played to nice with the Repubs.
The problem now is that they’re fighting back with a candidate I simply cannot support. Someone who lives in a glass house.

His foreign policy is a blight on both parties; the neoconservatives took it from the left when they infiltrated the GOP. I don’t know how they called themselves “liberals,” but they destroyed that word along with everything they touched.

Eugene Robinson at WaPo–an Obama suck-up, of course–was questioning whether Palin was an irresponsible parent for subjecting her daughter to media intrusion by accepting the VP slot. The clear inference was that Palin’s unbridled ambition had taken priority over her duties as a mother. Yet he assured his readers that he wasn’t being sexist. So when is the last time someone accused Obama–or any man–of “unbridled ambition?”
As horrible as the male MSM is being, the females are that much worse. Maureen Dowd and Sally Quinn, among others, are despicable. They don’t care that Palin is a woman. They only care that she is a conservative woman.

Hillary or Bust, Obama has been wrong from the beginning. It is not his time, it is ours and all we have to do is stand together. Democratic and Republican women need to unite in this fight no matter how we intend to vote. Dowd, Huffington, Mitchel, Campbell and even TM need to know women will not tolerate this any longer. We need to organize a boycott now of all of these women and the rest of the media and it needs to continue even after the election, if necessay. I won’t even link to their blogs. Is it worth playing dirty? NO! The end never justifies the means, but we can show them we reject these attacks against other women no matter what our ideology or party affiliation.

Also, I think if you have satellite television they can track what channel you are watching. Otherwise how could they say 38 million people watched Obama’s speech at the Dem convention? FOX news showed a breakdown of how many people were watching, CNN (4+ Million), MSNBC (4+ million), and FOX (2+ Million). I don’t think Nielsen would have told them that.
So I say don’t even flip on those channels and in fact if you can block them do so. I know the setup on my 1 1/2 year old television has a setting where you can block channels. I have done that for CNN and MSNBC so I can’t accidently even stop there.
We need to boycott those channels period!

He lost. The only reason I say competitive, when he lost by a landslide, is because in all the rest, he ran unopposed. In the primaries, we all know how he limped into the nomination. You should watch Fred Thompson’s speech at the Republican convention. It was a dramatic recap of McCain’s career and one of the strongest endorsements for a candidate I’ve ever seen. Joe Lieberman’s address to Democrats was great, too.

The country is in too much of a disaray after Bush. The reason I don’t want it to be 0bama is that there will be the shift back to a Repub after a one-term president.
I’d bet good money 0bama will be a horrible president. He has never really functioned in an elected office, think about it. He likes running for office and fighting dirty, and he’ll like the trappings of the presidency, but he’s already demonstrated that he is very thin-skinned and can’t take criticism. Even Bush, who is also thin-skinned had to learn how to take it. And for awhile Bush looked like he was about to have a meltdown.
But Bush had his father, an ex-president and strong family ties to help keep him together. This is NOT one of 0bama’s strengths. And he also no longer has a spiritual support.
0bama wants to be POTUS. But if he gets it, he won’t know how to govern. If disaster of any kind hits, whether that is terrorism, foreign affairs, the economy, we will have to rely on the team he has assembled. We already know who some of them are. Brezinski redux? I don’t think so. Putin is already off somewhere getting his Cold War groove on. And N. Korea is getting back in the nukes business.
If Biden is truly an alcoholic, that’s not a plus for 0bama’s side. Drunks do not have a good handle on reality and can be dangerous.
I’m not going to worry about McCain. Bush 41 was a one-term president beaten by a Clinton. If Hillary is polling well against McCain now, what do you think she’ll do in 2012?
Hillary and Bill’s problem between now and then, is staying alive. The powers-that-be are not going to be happy with them when 0bama loses in a landslide. They made it clear that they don’t want the Clintons back in power. They’re not going to want to turn the reigns back over to them.

I faced this dilemma in 1988. I lived in a solid blue state. But I was so angry with the Democrats I just had to protest by voting for Bush 41. I had never voted for a Republican for president in my life, but I consoled myself by the fact that my one vote would not turn my state red. And it didn’t.
My fear is that if McCain wins in a close election, 0bama will run again in 2012. He has the money, the DNC has moved to Chicago, PUMAs will be older and he’ll have a new crop of idiot 18 year olds to woo. And he won’t be that old.
We need to defeat 0bama solidly. And the Popular Vote will also send a message.

The Politico has received an opposition research file from the Alaska Democrats. You can read it in PDF here.
In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin’s social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses.
Back in 2005, Democrats used Michael Steele’s social security number to get his credit record.
It is atrocious that the Democrats would not only seek out Sarah Palin’s social security number, but release it in opposition research to the press.
We need to know who did this. We also need to know what happened. We also need to know if it was used to bolster the Democrats’ opposition research.
When it happened to Michael Steele, it turns out the Democrats knew about it and did nothing.
They cannot not take action now.

You should also note that it’s a partially REDACTED social security number. That seems relevant. If less sensational. It’s missing four digits.
Here is the key take away: Yes, the SSN is redacted and people can pay for themselves.

I’ve been saying for months that I thought Obama would implode before the election. I had no idea that he would take the entire Democratic Party with him!! Just a thought, as long as we are looking at whether to make the jump to McCain from Hillary or not. Right now we have lost Hillary, and I find it hard to believe that they will make the run in four years. Look how it turned out, owing twenty million of their own, branded as racists, beaten up by the media and her own party for four months, and she has garnered the enmity of her own party. She started out with a quarter of a billion, that’s billion, dollars, a resume to die for, guts and backbone like we haven’t seen in a long time, and got more votes than anyone in american primary history, any party. So, my point is, how likely is it that any other female politician is going to be willing to make this run in the next ten or twenty years? If Hillary couldn’t do it, why would someone of lesser stature want to try? Answer, they won’t. That is just one of the important reasons to see a larger picture and break the glass ceiling. If we don’t do it this time, then we can kiss the idea of a qualified,female president in our lifetimes goodbye.
Don’t misunderstand. I don’t want Palin as a Pres., but if she makes it as VP that signals a screeching halt to the idea that women can be kept out of the highest offices. I hate to say this, and I will fight for Hillary in 2012, but I don’t think Hillary will ever be president. The newest evidence of the wickedness of the current crop of DNC leaders is the fact that nobody in the DNC is willing to supply the following information: how the delegates actually voted in their private morning caucuses on the day of the roll call rigamarole orchestrated by Democratic Party state and national leaders. At those meetings the state party leaders, made fearful of any sort of “floor fight” (read “honest, open, legitimate, unrigged roll call vote”) cajoled, pressured and demanded that delegates pledged to Senator Clinton switch their votes to Senator Obama. Wickedness.
I have been informed by various sources that delegates cannot get, from either the DNC or their State party chairs the following information: the actually tallies and ballot sheets from the morning caucuses. This means that nobody can check whether in fact Clinton delegates did switch or which of them did and which of them did not.
There is every reason to ask for this information if one cares about the Democratic Party’s integrity which is rapidly reaching the vanishing point. When delegates ask for this information they are being told things like “We don’t have copies of the ballots” or “We are too busy with campaigns”. They are being told, in essence, to take a hike; process be damned, all that the Democratic Party cares about is result, with no heed to how it is achieved.
That type of thinking brought America an attorney general and a President who decided torture is not torture if it gets you what you think you want.
The DNC’s own rules disqualify secret ballots at the convention. If the Party does not release full and verifiable tallies and ballot sheets post haste, they are not only in violation of this rule, Party officials become ever more indistinguishable from the man who stole Florida and deprived Al Gore of the Presidency in 2000.
Voting rights are at the foundation of any legitimate democratic institution. Ballots disappearing, delegates being given the runaround as they try to verify the result that was announced at the convention – these are wicked tactics, much like the threats to de-accredit delegates who at all tried to treat the Democratic Party Convention as the “deliberative body” is is supposed to be, according so “delegate guru” Phil MacNamara over on the DNCC website.
The purveyors of such political wickedness are tearing apart the Democratic Party and corroding its foundations. I for one shall remain immeasurably distanced from them and from the candidate who has capitalized on the leadership’s wicked ways.

A woman having a baby is a personal CHOICE. If the family is there and supportive, then why not have a baby while you’re young? A friend of mine slept with a man who turned out to be married. She was 18 years old, and she also had congestive heart failure. She would not have been able to physically carry a child later, and the doctor warned this pregnancy might kill her. She is very pro-choice, but she still had her baby. He is 9 years old now. The father was never there, but the her she and her father healed their relationship. He made a wonderful grandfather. And my friend just finished her PhD. She is an upper level manager for a federal social service / health bureau, though she wants to counsel ex-cons. Little girls sometimes grow up very fast. Not everyone wants to live out their childhood into their mid-life crisis.

Look, everyone has the right to make their own decisions, but don’t try to put lipstick on that pig. Children of children have a rough go of it; and grandparents have the “joy” of putting off their time to play to help raise the kid so it isn’t totally fucked up.
The poor child-mother should have being going to COLLEGE, getting drunk underage, misbehaving, learning how to make decisions, and doing what college kids do–the good, the bad, and the plain DUMB. Instead, she’s “MOM” and she won’t be able to party for another eighteen years. And that’s only if she makes this one an only child!

This reminded me of something from when I was much younger. It was at a time when much of the medical profession was dominated by male doctors. Women had been making inroads and there was a survey taken of female patients. The results of that survey were women didn’t trust one of their own to be as competent as a male doctor.

Yeah, with my youngest, I had a breach and the baby (now 14) was born 3 days later. And, yes, I went to the doctor, who sent me home.
And, as Gov. Palin says, it was her 5th pregnancy. She knew what labor feels like, and believe me, if she’d been in hard labor, EVERYONE would have known it! It’s rather hard to disguise, or “cover up,” if you prefer.

The only indication he gave was that he would sometimes not be able to get to his room by himself, and my grandmother would find him sleeping on the floor were he eased out of the chair on to the floor. and he still could walk up and down a flight of stairs to get to bathroom. This was in 2001 and I was fresh out of nursing school, raising hell for the doctor to give him pain meds he would not take. Anyone can tell you that bone cancer is excrusiating. The only thing that feels worse is Pancreatic cancer. Oh yeah and I forgot about something. When I took Obstetrics in nursing school my friend and I took care of a woman who was having her sixth child. she delivered naturally and even through transitional labor it seemed not to bother her that much. From the time we got there to thetime she delivered. She was siting around laughing and talking with us. No pain meds. After wards all she wasn’t much of a conversationalist, but even then she was mostly tired. So yes come women can sit through active labor quietly.
Duh. Explaining labor to men is a total waste of time. Most (if not all) would have to be knocked out and deliver asleep!
What has been missed here is that perhaps Sarah Palin knows enough, after giving birth four times before, that she could make it home to be with family and loved ones for the birth of her fifth child. Funny how the sexist pigs, including that bespeckticled little foil for Sean Hammity, don’t mention this.

It sounds like the first night of the Republican convention was good for McCain Palin. I am very confused right now about poll data. I’ve seen the CNN poll report saying Obama did not really get a bounce out of his convention but the Gallup and Rasmussen polls show Obama really moving ahead. I read the Rasmussen poll report and counting leaners, for the first time Obama reached the 50% mark. I think the roll out of Palin has been sweet and sour with the huge Obama attack so that is probably still in flux. Her speech tomorrow night will probably be very key. I pray she gives an amazing speech and I would love to read that more Americans watch it than watched Obama—that would be wonderful. She needs a voice coach to help her with her voice pitch that tends to be almost squeaky high and doesn’t go down well in a long speech. I don’t think we will know how this race is really going until after the Republican convention.

Should she talk to the A. G. that had her husband’s accuser locked up, after he had a press conference to tell the public that he and hubby had “unprotected sex”.
Does the A.G., who is the son of the husband’s partner, have a duty to inform the women of the danger she may have been put in.
