Sarah Palin and the White Trailer Trash Myth

If the Obama Bin Biden campaign managers are participating in anyway in the current media feeding frenzy then they are likely to rue that decision. If they are not, they better figure out a way to destroy the canvass the media and some pundits are painting of Sarah Palin. The bar is being lowered in such a dramatic fashion that if Sarah Palin can walk, smile, and talk in complete sentences without crying she will triumph. The folks busy trying to portray her as a northern version of the Elly May Clampett beware. You’ve set the expectations at a level that most folks will expect Palin to appear before the Republican Convention wearing a bearskin, toothless, breast feeding her baby and unable to speak without drooling on herself. Richard Roper reportedly referred to her as Ted Nugent with a vagina. Well, isn’t that special.

But what happens when she stands before thousands of convention goers and millions of viewers and turns out to be funny, normal, and blessed with an enormous amount of common sense? Oh, oh. No question there is alot riding on her speech. She could bomb and that would torpedo McCain. Game over. But if she does not bomb, it is likely a game changer. The questions swirling around her and her family will only gin up more interest in her and what she has to say.

Do you remember Dan Quayle’s initial appearance with George H.W. Bush? Are you familiar with the expression, “don’t act like it is your first time in the end zone?” Well, Quayle acted like it was his very first time. He was so excited and so enthusiastic that he looked like a winner of the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes. He came across as a lightweight.

Palin certainly did not remind anyone of Quayle during her first appearance. She correctly projected the attitude of someone pleased to be asked to do the job, but also came across as a serious person. Go ahead. Underestimate her. Make fun of her. And attack her children. Her ability to take on and defeat the Republican old boys club in Alaska should be a warning to the Democrats and Obama fawning pundits, who are making fun of her small town roots and common sense. She is not afraid to fight battles that most seasoned politicians run from. And she does not fight for a tie. She won. Palin comes from a land where mother bears watching over their young can be extremely dangerous. You don’t want to cross them. And judging from Palin’s past, I think the same warning is warranted.

This is a big opportunity for her, a lot of pressure. I’m rooting for her.

She had me when she came out and asked for my vote.

When has Barry and Biden ever actually done that? They ASSUME you will just fall in line and vote for them.

I’m a supporter now also.

Go Sarah!!

I just called the McCain campaign to express my support for Sarah.

The woman who answered the phone was appreciative of my comments. Nobody sounded panicked, or defensive, or anything out of the ordinary. The McCain website has all the convention events featured – business as usual.
I told the woman at McCain HQ that we were all looking forward to Gov. Palin’s speech tomorrow night.

She answered the phone: “Country First, McCain 2008″.

She did not fear the Republican Machine in Alaska so I expect her to do very well on the national stage. I highly doubt that McCain would have taken her on otherwise.

Comment by Digg Watcher | 2008-09-02 17:04:07

Oh come on! How is someone like Sarah going to screw up? But it’s true: that could be the reason for this unparalleled media blitz against her and her family.

Comment by FloridaEx-Dem | 2008-09-03 11:21:41

The OBots have been working on her since they caught their breath after the announcement. It took them a few hours but then they came up with a viral email from a ‘college friend’ (which I will cut ‘n’ paste below), for the record. Bottom line, tho, it’s classic Rovian crap I mean Axelrodian crap (Is that a word?)

(BTW, this is a long email diatribe so you can skip over it if you like.)

Worth a read
———————————————-
Dear classmates -

As an Alaskan, I am writing to give all of you some information on
Sarah Palin, Senator McCain’s choice for VP. As an Alaska voter, I
know more than most of you about her and, frankly, I am horrified that
he picked her.

The most accurate description of her is red neck. Her husband works in
the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay and races snow mobiles. She is a life
time member of the NRA and has worked tirelessly to allow
indiscriminate hunting of wildlife in Alaska, particularly wolves and
bears. She has spent millions of Alaska state dollars on aerial
hunting of these predators from helicopters and airplanes, dollars
that should have been spent, for example, on Alaska’s failing school
system. We have the lowest rate of high school graduation in the
country. Not all of you may think aerial predator hunting is so bad,
but how anyone (other than Alaska wolf-haters, of which there are
many, most without teeth), could think this use of funds is
appropriate is beyond me. If you want to know more about the aerial
hunting travesty, let me know and I will send some links to
informative web sites.

She has been a strong supporter of increased use of fossil fuels, yet
the McCain campaign has the nerve to say she has “green” policies. The
only thing green about Sarah Palin is her lack of experience. She has
consistently supported drilling in ANWR, use of coal-burning power
plants (as I write this, a new coal plant is being built in her home
town of Wasilla), strip mining, and almost anything else that will
unnecessarily exploit the diminishing resources of Alaska and destroy
its environment.

Prior to her one year term as governor of Alaska, she was mayor of Wasilla,
a small red neck town outside Anchorage. The average maximum education
level of parents of junior high school kids in Wasilla is 10th grade.
Unfortunately, I have to go to Wasilla every week to get groceries and
other supplies, so I have continual contact with the people who put
Palin in office in the first place. I know what I’m talking about.
These people don’t have a concept of the world around them or of the
serious issues facing the US. Furthermore, they don’t care. So long as
they can go out and hunt their moose every fall, kill wolves and bears
and drive their snow mobiles and ATVs through every corner of the
wilderness, they’re happy. I wish I were exaggerating.

Sarah Palin is currently involved in a political corruption scandal.
She fired an individual in law enforcement here because she didn’t
like how he treated one of her relatives during a divorce. The man’s
performance and ability weren’t considered; it was a totally personal
firing and is currently under investigation. While the issue isn’t
close to the scandal of Ted Steven’s corruption, it shows that Palin
isn’t “squeaky clean” and causes me to think there ay be more issues
that could come to light. Clearly McCain doesn’t care.

When you line Palin up with Biden, the comparison would be laughable
if it weren’t so serious. Sarah Palin knows nothing of economics
(admittedly a weak area for McCain), or of international affairs,
knows nothing of national government, Social Security, unemployment,
health care systems – you name it. The idea of her meeting with heads
of foreign governments around the world truly frightens me.

In an increasingly dangerous world, with the economy in shambles in
the US, Sarah Palin is uniquely UNqualified to be vice president. John
McCain is not a young man. Should something happen to him such that
the vice president had to step in, it would destroy our country and
possibly the world to have someone as inexperienced and inappropriate
as Sarah Palin. The choice of Palin is a cheap shot by McCain to try
to get Hillary supporters to vote for him. when McCain introduced her
today, Palin had the nerve to compare herself with Hillary and
Geraldine Ferraro. Sarah Palin, you are no Hillary Clinton.

To those of you who, like me, supported Hilary and were upset that she
did not get the nomination, please don’t think that Sarah Palin is a
worthy substitute. If you supported Hillary, regardless of what you
think the media and the democratic party may have done to undermine
her campaign, the person to support now is Obama, not Sarah Palin. To
those of you who are independent or undecided, don’t let the choice of
Palin sway you in favor of McCain. Choosing her shows how unqualified
McCain is to be president. To those of you who are conservative, I
guess you have no choice for president. But please try to see how the
poor choice of Palin tells us a great deal about McCain’s judgment.
While the political posturing inherent in the choice of Palin is
obvious, the more serious issue is the fact that the VP is, literally,
a heartbeat away from the presidency. Sarah Palin is totally and
unequivocally unqualified to be vice president, let alone president.

I know this is a lengthy and emotional email, but the stakes are high.
I thought it might help for all of you, regardless of political
affiliation, to know something about Palin from someone who has to
live with her administration in Alaska on a daily basis.

Jackie S.

And just fyi, this came from an email owned by (per WhoIs)
Scharf, Vern
3700 Gross Road

All of the versions I have received did not include the so-called ‘original’ email to check for headers and URL’s.

And of course, it’s clearly a venomous OBot ploy.

But to see them all standing silent while Palin and her children are being attacked like this (just as most of them stood silent while the same was being done to Hillary) means I will start seriously considering voting against all Dems.

Sorry but your whole line of thread here is bullshit. She isn’t ruining anything for her mother. Grow the fuck up before you say such a stupid thing.

Any moron who thinks that what Sarah Palin’s daughter did is such a big deal can take a flying leap to lala land because that’s about the worth of your political accumen.

There are much more important things to look at than this. And her daughter isn’t “helping” or “hurting” anything. Nosey assholes are the problem, not where they stick their noses. This is a kid you’re talking about.

If Palin tanks her chances, it will be her doing it, not her child.

“just try to be a good person from now on and start doing the right thing”

Why don’t you do that by shutting your fucking mouth about others. “GOOD PERSON”..how do you know she isn’t a good person?

Comment by looking for integrity | 2008-09-02 17:50:00

the problem is that this is exactly what the Obama supporters are saying. I haven’t been to Taylor Marsh’s site in a long time. Not since she stopped supporting Hillary. The posts are so vile, I’m glad to have left and will not be going back.

The Obots are measuring how many voters are Dems and how many are Reps saying that the Reps lost 1.4M voters and the Dems gained 200,000. They believe that there are more Dem voters that Rep voters and the Dems will win. PUMA is not one of their favorite groups.

I’m biding my time until November when I will vote McCain/Palin.

Comment by msindy | 2008-09-02 20:07:11

You can’t predict how an election will go based on registration, what morons. Oh well, let them dream, they are good at that as we know.

The daughter should not even be a topic. This is a person’s life we are talking about and she should be free to make her own decisions without pressure from vile creeps without decency.

What an idiot you are — OMG.

It wasn’t so long ago that girls married young — pioneer women found husbands for their girls. Check the genealogy of the 1900s and last century.

My grandmother married a 14 and this was typical for the midwest and the whole era. As soon as a girl started showing an interest in boys — bam — she was married off. Of course birth control was outlawed by the male chauvinist pigs who were running America.

The stupidity that the Soetorobots are showing on SEX — and babies is really like turning on the lights in one of Rezko’s slum buildings and all the cockroaches run for cover.

You Bots are being exposed as misogynistic cockroach SLUGS.

This will not be forgotten — women have a very long memory. We still remember what Biden did to Anita Hill.

What has this child got to look forward to? Stinky diapers and an abusive, resentful husband.
These “shotgun marriages” always end in divorce.

Comment by AnnieCarmel | 2008-09-02 18:51:39

Don’t be silly. That’s a baseless generalization. Many couples marry because of unplanned pregnancy and do just fine. Sometimes people are actually in love. Birth control fails. No one volunteers for that set of circumstances but please don’t put it in a little box with such narrow parameters.

Wow, you are very judgemental. She is a lovely young woman. This has happened to many lovely young women. At least it is open and honest. In the 40’s and 50’s, girls were sent off to recover from “polio” and forced to put their babies up for adoption. I had a friend in high school and a friend in college (this girl was in high school at the time) whose parents forced both of them to have abortions so they would not “embarrass” their upper middle class families. How sad is that? Yet, this is a wonderful family that accepts, loves and supports all of their children.

And I’m the reason my parents got married–53 years ago. And they’re still married (guess they didn’t read the stats on that). Statistics can be skewed to reflect the views of the person conducting the research. That’s Stats101, which you take in College. Please learn to question.

Now, get offline, and go be a kid. And put your mother on.

Comment by truthtelling007 | 2008-09-03 02:36:07

“YOU are slamming a kid right now! a kid that does the right thing ALL THE TIME!!”

You don’t do the right thing ALL THE TIME. You jumped up here and jumped to a conclusion that Bristal Palin was a bad person based on being pregant. That makes “pregnant” bad, or getting pregant bad, and bad enough to be a bad person.

Good people become pregnant all the time, are they suddenly bad for doing so?

Young people who love each other engage in sex and sometimes she gets pregnant. Did she run away and hide? apparently not. Did she and the boy bail on each other? apparently not.

So what did she do Bad?

And as for “I’m a kid”. Look, if you want to come engage in an adult conversation and cast aspersions on total strangers, then you had best learn a hard lesson. What you put out there comes back. You are casting judgments and you are getting judged right back for doing it.

You wouldn’t have sex? Fine but lots of teens have sex and sometimes accidents happen. It’s not the accident but how you handle it that’s important.

This young lady and her family seem to be doing a damn fine job of it, not that it’s any of our business.

you don’t accidentally leave the coffee on or accidentally put your shirt on backwards.

And yes, accidents have happened in sex. I know people who had kids that only happened because the birth control failed, and they were intentionally working to prevent them. They lovingly had their children, but yes…accidents happened.

Why are you so banking on the need to make Bristal Palin on moral trial here? She’s not running for anything. If you have issues with teen pregnancy, go see your therapist about your personal issues and avoid the condemnation of others for getting pregnant. It does nothing to serve society or that person to have you yapping away on a blog about it.

Sarah Palin is scaring the crap out of more than just Obama. The crooks are all probably running for cover and willing to destroy a 17 year old kid to do it.

So how did that person on KOS manage to get all those pics of Palin within days of her nomination? Could the Obama camp have gotten an assist from some of the cronies Sarah brought down in Alaska?

Comment by retire05 | 2008-09-02 17:08:48

“So how did that person on KOS manage to get all those pics of Palin within days of her nomination?”

I got an email today informing me that MoveOn.org has sent “troops” to Alaska to “dig out the dirt on Palin’s husband and everyone else in her family”.

What kind of scum are they, the MoveOn.org crowd. Maybe they will find out that Todd Palin’s great-great-great uncle had a child with an Eskimo woman.

This is sickening.

Here we go again, a young girl posting an opinion, and adults getting bent out of shape calling her names and belittling her for having a different opinion of morality. What is it with you people?
While it is human to screw up, I think the majority of us can agree Bristol did a screw up, having sex with an apparent loser and getting knocked up. The difference of opinion is if it will affect the election.
I think we can agree it should not affect the election. That doesn’t mean it won’t. While we won’t change our choice there may be some fence sitters who do. You may not like it but that’s reality.
OMG just made a statement that she hopes it doesn’t, and voiced an opinion that Bristol didn’t really think about her mom’s place in politics and didn’t set a great example. Maybe she did and it was rebellion, maybe she was date raped and doesn’t want to admit it, or maybe she thought she was ready to have a family (having one when I was older I can say it is never easy).
Many of us, especially those who have been around a while, have screwed up royally in their life, maybe a few times. I know I have. But to condemn a young girl who is trying to live a moral life is just mean.
Bristol will have her baby. Maybe she will be happy, maybe not. McCain will beat Obama and become caretaker until we can elect someone who can really run the country in Hillary. OMG will lead her life as she sees fit and hopefully the rest of us can appreciate that and hope it inspires us just a little to try to be a bit nicer.

Joe Biden’s “record” on foreign policy matters is nothing to be worried about.

He assured the world in the early 1980s that aggressively confronting the Soviets as Ronald Reagan was planning to do would only strengthen them and make them even more difficult to deal with. He was in favor of continuing Jimmy Carter’s failed policy of “detente”.

When Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1991, he opposed efforts to oust Saddam by force, arguing that we could negotiate with him instead.

When things got tough in Iraq in 2004, he advocated a unilateral US withdrawl to be accompanied by dividing Iraq up into three pieces, one of which would have become a de facto province of Iran, another which would have been dominated by Al-Qaeda, and the third which would have probably ended up provoking a war with Turkey. Great plan, Joe.

He’s an idiot and an abrasive asshole to boot. Palin will eat his lunch.

I’ve been reluctant to vote for McCain, but now he has my enthusiastic vote. These people need to be sent a clear message that this disgusting behavior can not be tolerated in our country. And, Mr. Johnson, here’s a clear picture of the job she has had to do as governor — remember Obama saying managing his campaign was a big job with a bigger budget than the town of Wasilla’s budget?

“For Barack Obama to argue that he’s experienced enough to be president because he’s running for president is desperate circular logic and it’s laughable. It is a testament to Barack Obama’s inexperience and failing qualifications that he would stoop to passing off his candidacy as comparable to Governor Sarah Palin’s executive experience managing a budget of over 10 billion dollar dollars, and more than 24,000 employees.” —Tucker Bounds, spokesman John McCain 2008

And why would Obama not mention the millions he managed for the Annenberg Challenge?

When people in leadership positions make decisions which affect us all seriously, sometimes, when we cannot do anything about it all that is left is to pray that the decisionmakers got some guidance from above and that it should be a divinely guided task. LOL…

If she views that Iraqi/Auchi Food for Oil programs needed to be stopped. And it is a task from God. Then more power to her.

If Obama wants to sit in a racist church for 20 years that views white people as the enemy. While he helps people who profit from other’s misery such as Auchi and Rezko.

Then more power to him.

Comment by truthtelling007 | 2008-09-02 19:05:07

“so now no one running for office is allowed to mention God?”

I’d be very happy about that. I almost threw up after each time I saw a “prayer” at the DNC. I don’t like god and politics mixed, under any circumstance. A people can be godly together just fine, and have learned to tolerate the benedictions because the majority share a common belief in God. If there is a national tragedy, then meet in your national churches when you want to repent, forgive, and have community. When the president does it, I’m not so sure.

The problem arises when the religious tributaries split in mouths of the speakers who give those prayers. Inevitably one version of the God story prevails over the others. Yes, platitudes towards Islam are now growing as America begins to hit adolescence its religious tolerance growth. But there are so many views of God in our own culture that it will alienate someone. Listen in and you’ll mostly hear a narrow Christian prayer that can become pedantic if you aren’t one.

I’m no atheist. I am actually at the greatest chasm when it comes to atheists. But as an arrogant spiritualist I do think the majority of the voices I hear on God via TV and radio are whackjobs and filled with a bullshit save everyone trip that is more from the mid1800’s than the teaching of their lord. Jesus taught very different than what I see on TV, or the judgmental sickos like Falwell, Robertson, Tilton, Swaggard, and more.

Palin’s beliefs do not scare me. Its been reported that she has worked towards preventing green house gases in her state, which seems to me to be an allied goal we have. I don’t want to be a political bigot and simply dismiss her because she’s an “evangelical” or even more, that she’s an Assembly of God member. That is the church I got thrown out of the most…just for asking questions. But it doesn’t make all the members assholes because that one couldn’t take some fundamental questions.

My sense of supporting women as equals started because of a religious argument I had with a minister at a young age. I asked why the Timothy 2:8-15, seemed to dismissive and controlling of women. It was blah blahed away by the pastor guy, but in effect it was a cardinal law somehow. Its the verse that many were using to subjegate the women in the church. Paul says it, so make it so.

Nobody really taught me that Jesus didn’t say this, or God didn’t say this, just some guy who didn’t even personally know Jesus wrote it down in a letter…PST, Hey Timothy, tell the women to shut up and be humble will ya! said the Apostile formerly known as Saul.

And there are countless other examples where conflicting interpretations of intent go on and on. So take that shit out into the hall and lets pass some legislation, arrest some crooked politicians, make sure the infrastructure is sound, and if you want to meet on Friday, Saturday or Sunday to talk God, go for it.

Religion and State should be separate for a reason and the pandering from the Republicans has now worn off on the Democrats.

So here comes Obama and his whole Trinity and St. Sabinas trip to the scene. One part politician, one part preacher guy. Well if I hadn’t really been raised in a better church than that I’d fall for it. But sorry, the sing song speech is just verbose impressions of the great civil rights reverends. Nothing new, as Gil Scott says, It Ain’t No New Thing.

And I expect the Republicans to pander to the religious groups. But I can’t just eliminate someone based on their spiritual beliefs unless I can see them acting on those beliefs when it comes to the greater good or in public office or roles.

Ask Palin about her plan in Iraq. If she goes on and on about God, then let her be cast into the looney bin of history. But my guess is, she isn’t going to describe it that way as a VP candidate. So ask her and see if you don’t get a right of field answer about completing the mission etc.

And I hope those who want to play this game about the religious backgrounds are not from either the McCain camp (with Palin’s pastor talkin and ol Hagee in the background) and Barack (”whose this Rev. Wright character”) Obama.

The debates are coming, so demand answers from them. If they get all whacky on God instead of showing something, it isn’t their religion that bothers me, but their lack of seeing the answer. If they provide the correct answer and then praise Allah for it, fine, give me the correct solution.

Instead of 18 million cracks, Sarah will plunge through the ceiling with 50 million pieces of glass.

It’s like walking on a mattress and very taxing. I expect I will see Dems wearing bear bells very soon…not that they see the utlility of it.

Having walked into a mama Grizzly in the back end of Wonder Lake…being down wind was the only thing that saved my string.

This is where Dems are headed?
So whats it gonna be Dems?

The fact that Barry may have a dual citizenship to include Indonesia, was propped up by Reczko and was endorsed by various islamic leaders, was applauded by 200,000 Germans as a citizen of the world and who will not provide his birth certificate to the MSM is of bigger concern than an American giving a speech in support of one of our 50 states.

yeah well we don’t have Obama on tape saying he’s not a natural citizen. what we do have however, is a tape of Palin praising a group that secede from the US. one can be proven, one can’t.

Yeah? So what? That’s your “big” scandal of the moment?

There’s been factions in Alaska, since it became a state, to succeed from the Union. I learned a lot about that the 3 years I lived in Fairbanks. I even have a story I get to tell about that concerning a lawyer and jury duty, but that’s neither here nor there. And how many people were in that room? Looks to me like some more juggling of video in a truly pathetic attempt to smear Gov. Palin.

Alaskans are unique, and so is Sarah Palin. Thought that’s what the Barkster was hawkin’ about himself all this time? So, where’s the hopey-changey thingy now? Ooooh, The One has “changed” the hopey-changy schtick and now the merry bands of hope-a-dopes have a new message. Sooooo pathetic. Just what I want in a president, a change a minute…not.

The number posted above, 703.650.5550, is the McCain press office.

I just called it to thank Governor Palin for hanging tough and said I wished her the best.

They were of course very nice.

It cannot be fun to be a campaign on the receiving end of this sort of grotesque media frenzy.

Just imagine the ugly calls they must be getting, so if you can call with kind words, do so. They need to know we appreciate their choice.

Yes, I am a democrat, not voting as one this year however.

Great moment for the Democratic party last night. Two Obama spokesmen saying that Bristol Palin was fair game because “the Republicans are the only ones who tell people how to live their lives, Democrats never do that.”

Democrats, if you stay on that tack for more than a minute, you are going to have your lunch handed to you. There is so much video of so many Democrats, including Barack Obama, telling people how to live their lives that it could run 24/7 until election day and still have some left over.

This is a 17 year old kid, and her home town (and most of America) is saying no big deal, leave her alone. If you persist, the blowback will destroy the party.

Larry, Dan Quayle was seen as a light weight because he was a light weight. The man could not even spell potato. His four year as V.P. were a running gag, a keystone cops film. He was a man you would have to check back up on because he would routinely cross-thread the light bulbs he changed out.

Ms. Palin’s roll out has been less than stellar. Weird news follows her around like a swarm of flies around a broken down and ulcerous nag.

It is odd that you would be pinning your hopes on one speech from Ms. Palin. After all Barack Obama’s speeches have failed to move you. Palin is a grade AAA disaster in waiting. She may be a good pol for Alaska but her national credentials are questionable. She is the only pol out there with even fewer Bona Fides than Obama. How the hell did the Republicans manage that? What is the best she can do? Even if she gives a barn-burner of a speech, then what? She still has all those radical right positions she endorses. Any rational Hillary supporter will take one look at her family dynamics and policy positions and say “no way Jose.”

Hillary stands for something, her history matters. That history is 180 degrees opposite of Sara Palin. HRC has thirty years of public service behind her, she was the first lady and is now a second term Senator. HRC has been all around the world, rubbed elbows with friend and foe, and has done the hard work of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Palin, she was the mayor of a small Alaska town and just became governor of a huge territory with damn few people. Alaska in total has the same population as Little Rock, Arkansas does. Palin probably won’t do a face plant on national T.V. but that is an incredibly low bar to set. We should expect the V.P. nominee to do more than walk and chew gum at the same time.

Some would like to claim that Palin is the equivalent of Barack Obama as far as experience goes. Not nearly, not even close. Get serious; what in Palin’s resume qualifies her to be president? Obama has undergone a sixteen month trial-by-fire that was the Democratic Primary. Just like Hillary he got eighteen million votes. That means that eighteen million voters like what they saw and voted for him. Who has vetted Palin? How many votes did she get for the V.P. slot? That’s right folks one- John McCain’s vote. And what did he just do? In one fell swoop he evaporated his best argument for his election; his experience. Heck of a job Johnny.

Comment by Lee M | 2008-09-02 18:31:30

Nobody said that Governor Palin could replace Hillary Clinton. Nobody could do that. Hillary is one of a kind but Obama and his crooked caucases and the crooked DNC saw to it that we can’t vote for Hillary. That does not excuse the fact that some of us who love Hillary will vote McCain/Palin.
I think she will do an outstanding job. Remember, she is not running for President but for vice-president. So why all this comparing her to Obama who IS running for president and is sadly lacking in credentials.

Comment by AnnieCarmel | 2008-09-02 19:18:52

Are these the same people who said that Hillary’s WH days didn’t qualify for any “experience”? What a bunch of silly people you all are.

Does anyone remember how the rest of the world responded to Bill Clinton’s indiscretions? They thought it trivial and laughable. They couldn’t believe anyone would care. This situation wouldn’t rate a blip on the scale of public opinion were it not for the Dems greasing the wheels. Mary Cheney got off somewhat easier because Dems are involved with Gay issues. I felt a lot of sympathy when she was outed.

Ed Rollins, Reagan’s 1984 campaign manager said yesterday on Charlie Rose that:
“I want to hear the VP speak exactly three times:At the introduction, at the acceptance speech and at the debate.”
What you were not taught in spy school is that the focus must be on the Presidential candidate, not the veep.

“What you were not taught in spy school is that the focus must be on the Presidential candidate, not the veep.”

Why would that be taught in spy school? Any one with a half a wit should have been focused on the VP pick in 2000, not the Presidential Candidate. Please, reprocess that thought and repeat the following 1000 times: “I will make sure I vet the VP as much as I vet the lead candidate”

Have you learned nothing from 8 years of Dick “I’ll go find you a VP, well what do ya know? I’m your pick” Cheney?

I am developing a begruding respect for Mccain. I’ve always respected him as a human being and I value his service, but I mean now he’s earning my trust as a leader. He knows what he’s doing. This campaign is in good hands. He is lowering the bar on Palin, so people can’t help but be impressed once they get to know her. And he is letting the Obama supporters do what they do, which is to smear people with their “fairy tales.” Everytime these fools in the media attack Palin people become more sympathetic towards her.

BO and the msm kept going after Hillary to get out of the race after Iowa–it was constant. Now they are doing the same thing to Palin. McCain needs to learn from that by never backing down from his choice. Never. If he does this he will be seen as a tough leader who’s not intimidated. No one stood up for Clinton, they were bullied and threatened by thugs and they caved. But Palin has the Repubs behind her who wrote the book on all of this and she’ll be fine. BO should have stayed home with his kids while Mechelle earned her 300 thousand at the hospital. He could have smoked a little weed on the side and we wouldn’t have to put up with this lowlife as a candidate.

Isn’t it time we all voted for someone like us rather than someone who pretends to be one of us. Sarah is a real everyday person I can relate to. Anyone who has kids knows that no matter how good of a parent you are things happen. Why is it Jamie Lynn Spears can grace the cover of all the magazine but the Dems are so quick to down grade Sarah’s daughter. It is ironic that the vicious Daily Kos crowd are fixated on 17-year-old Bristol Palin getting pregnant by her 18-year-old boyfriend. They overlook that their Obamessiah is the end result of his 17-year-old mom getting knocked up by bigamist Barack Sr., a Muslim goatherder who already had a wife (Kezia) and two kids back in Kenya.

It’s lucky for Obama that his mom did not consider teenage pregnancy a punishment and thus get an abortion.

McCain stayed in a POW camp for some 5 years, experienced torture and relentless emptiness. He did not leave his fellow prisoners when he could have done so. What do you think are the chances he is going to run out on his VP pick? Besides most Dems and the Obots especially do not understand at all why McCain picked Palin. It has nothing to do with Obama or even attracting PUMAs. McCain picked Palin to secure his base, to recapture his image as the “maverick” Republican and to lay the groundwork to claim the banner of bringing real change to Washington. Getting some women votes along the way is icing. For his base, Palin’s “international experience” is irrelevant. Her executive experience is just enough to be credible. That cured a big problem McCain and the RNC had— plus Palin is now rated by Americans as the #2 person they would like to meet just slightly behind “the one”. I say that is pretty good for the first week on the job. Don’t forget, she is not running for President; she is running for VP. It is not to Obama’s advantage to be running against Palin. The Obama camp is burning up reams of time running him against Palin—he needs to be running against McCain.

He always chose to stand outside the box, but when it came to him running for President he chose to forget all those terrible religious bigots that he despised and now chose Palin to bring them into the fold.
He was in the Senate with a Republican President and both Houses held by the Republicans, what did he do then to stem the flow of corruption?

McCains’ whole campaign has been experience this, experience that and instead of getting at least a veteran Republican woman that could bring something to the political table, he goes and gets a hockey mom?! Are you kidding me?! That is not sexism or right wing bashing that is the God honest truth. I don’t give a damn how much the left wing media loves Obama, there are absolutely right and all of you morons know it. You bring in a sports broadcaster with five kids, one with Down Syndrome, and a 17 year old daughter who got knocked up by a self proclaimed “redneck” Imagine if this was a woman of color and Obama chose her as his VP, you guys would be laughing your heads off, too. See it doesn’t matter if McCain wins or loses the election now, no one is ever going to take him serious again. As for Palin, I think in the long run she’ll be alright and have some kind of successful political career. I have nothing against the woman personally. But she said with her own mouth that she doesn’t know what a Vice President does and now look. Its not her fault though. Republicans got desperate as hell on this. Been attacking Obama on every level. This is what scares White America the most; a smart, well spoken Black man that has nothing to lose running for president in a mostly White country. And yes some of you are closet racists.Obama/Biden08 Change is coming. I know you’re scared about that. It’s Ok. LOL
