Susan Estrich Predicts 30% of Clinton Supporters Will Go McCain

This morning, former Mike Dukakis Campaign Manager Susan Estrich says she surfed the blogs and what she found written about Sarah Palin is horrific and totally inappropriate.

Referring to the fact that the sexism in America is overt, she had this to say:

Estrich was asked: “Realistically speaking” How many of Hillary Clinton’s voters are in play for John McCain. Her answer: …..”about a third….30 % I would say”.

What they’re doing to her………..and I mean friends of yours and mine….what they’re saying, second guessing her prenatal care……..with her youngest child….. even going so far as to suggest she took unnecessary risks………..maybe she was even responsible for the Down’s Syndrome………this whole business of saying maybe she was covering up for her teenage daughter’s pregnancy….they are dumping all over the daughter…..I find it Really offensive….and I think a lot of women in particular….who ended up supporting Hillary because they were so offended by the sexism may well be offended by what they see as the piling on of Sarah Palin.

You can see the video here.

Overall, I would say Ms. Estrich is darned close.

I look forward to Obama and his fellow sacks of crap helping us all to send Barack Obama back to Chicago Thug Land. And I look forward to Howard Dean, Donna Brazile and Nancy Pelosi getting exactly what they deserve. We won’t be staying home as you “suggested,” Donna. Count on it.

This is the year you inhumane pigs who think you are going to subjugate women again will understand that we will NOT allow Barack Obama and you to catapult the rights of American Women back to the 60s.

I look forward to you learning the lesson: It’s The Women Stupid, because we are brushing you right off our shoulders, Studly.

You many have fooled very young women who think their rights as actual humans were always there, but you can’t fool the rest of us. The rest of us know what you are up to and we are going to fight you until the last dog is dead. Do you understand? We know that your kind of crap, Barack Obama, rolls downhill in the workplace and in the home and we will have none of you or your sexist pig attitude. We will fight to the death to maintain our rights, and we aren’t kidding, in case you didn’t notice.

I fully expect you to make another hysterical “historic speech” about women as you did on race— coming to our theater soon— because you are nothing short of a pandering vote whore with Plans. Don’t even waste your time. Don’t break our jaws and then come home with flowers. Your shameless and shameful use of the Race Card while figuratively killing off a women who is and always will be far superior to you, so that you might climb up that greasy political poll you cling to, is inexcusable. We will not forget. And we are horrifed to watch you try the same crap on yet another woman. Horrified, but not surprised. We know what you are, Barack Obama.

We know that you and your sponsors from America and the Middle East think you are saving the “best” for when it’s too late. It’s our job to make sure you never reach the “too late” phase. Your capture of the young women in America alone is nothing short of despicable, given what you really are, Sweetie. Why don’t you trot over to Kenya and be President? Or maybe you can go to Pakistan or Afghanistan and help rule. They like to shoot women on sight and set them on fire. Maybe Hamas can help set you up there. After all, they have already funneled money to your campaign right from one of their compounds.

One more thing, Barack: I cannot tell you how sad I am for the future of your daughters after what you have done. And true to your habit of passing the buck, you continue to blame others for the behaviors you have fostered. Now run along and stick your hands in your pants. Your cell phone is vibrating.

Also, I recall Michelle saying you are only home on weekends. You’re a lousy father. Get your butt home.

I also think it’s important right now to say that we women who Get It can hardly express how much we appreciate all the many real progressive men who also See what’s really going on here. I am not referring to the radical Far Left hijackers, also known in the underground as Regressives in the Democratic Party. These truly Democratic men, and there are millions of them, are superior in every way to Barack Obama and the pigs who surround him. Women do not forget. They don’t forget the good and they don’t forget the bad. To me, Barack Obama is The Bad. I recognize him from places in Corporate America twenty years ago.

Barack Obama and his sycophants are caught in their own irony. They have become exactly what they purported to despise: Threatening, lowlife fascists, misogynists and sexists. This is what you get when you allow left over members of failed fringe parties attempt to take over our party. Again. It’s happened before and the results have always been the same. MoveOn, you need to Move On for sure.

Pigs. All of you.

Uppity Woman

THANKS! For telling it like it is!

Sarah Palin got a taste of sexism she though she was immune from. (She said “Hillary shouldn’t complain about Sexism..wans’t there”!) Ha!

The MISOGYNIST SKINNY PIG FROM CHICAGO with the anorexic resume is more dangerous to women than McCain’s maverick spirit that dictated to him the selection of a (gasp) Woman as his V-P.

McCain said this in Baghdad in 2005:

“I have no doubt that Hillary Clinton willl make a great Presidnet”! (Meet the Press interview)

JFK was gutsy enough to not fear his foe Lyndon B Johnson and made him V-P, winning the 60 Election!

Obamarama was shitscared, chickenfed rat and was too stupid and lacking political instinct to allow Hillary the V-P slot.

So, there’s one thing for Obamaram to do, rather than wait for his punches in November.

Odinga-Obama – Kenya ‘08

Hussein’s cousin Odinga got $50,000 from Obama to promote islamist agenda and SHARIA LAW!

Sarah Palin, go on and punch this Chicago sewer rat a few times for me, will you!

Obamabots use sexism to bash Palin – then turn around and fearmonger for votes by screaming about “the court” and protecting abortion.

McCain is NOT Bush – and will have a Dem Senate that confirms judges.

Comment by mary | 2008-09-04 15:55:40

Susan is telling the truth!

Hillary supporters are moderate, balanced and objective in their political and personal views. they’re seeing the “piling on’ by the sexist media and Obama slanderous Campaign of her family and mocking of women’s nature states and are REBELLING at the Voting Booth in November!

McCain picking Palin will do more to wake up women voters (including Sarah who had dismissed HIllary’s sexist media complaints!) to the abominable state of the media and the slanderous Obamanazis than the Constitution!

Thanks, McCain for being a maverick enough to pick a spunky, intelligent woman who seems to be learning quickly that Women’s issues include media sexism!

Who would have thunk it!

Hillary’s legacy may live on…

Too bad the pisspot who wrote that doesn’t know who George McGovern is. If he did, he would know that McGovern set a record for registering young voters that will never be beaten. You see, that year was the first year 18-20 year olds could register to vote. He registered baby boomers, the LARGEST youth movement ever in the United States. And I do mean Large. This generation is a fraction of the size. To conclude, George McGovern got 38% of the vote even though he enjoyed a 17% bump after the convention. You see, his young followers scared the American electorate even more than the viet nam war did. Twenty million new voters, my ass.

You see, adults don’t let radicals and financially dependent pisspots pick presidents.

A dear friend, albeit a very apolitical one, just innocently passed along some propaganda about Palin that she received from MoveOn.org. I wrote back and set her straight.

It is shocking to me that people who are so used to thinking that ANY Republican is evil could never believe that a Democrat COULD be also.

Hopefully, enough people will do their homeowrk and find the real information before it’s too late.

Your supporters throw mud, viciously laced with vile scum at women whom are your opponents.

If you can’t control your supporters and keep them from being vile when expressing their discomfort, how can we expect you to control the issues facing the White House?

It is one thing to express an opinion by our vote, and by being civil, but Obama’s supporters have crossed the line too many times. His condoning the disrespect toward Clinton has turned into a mushroom cloud in the way they are treating Palin and her children…

The poor widdle Obamabots. When Roe v. Wade doesn’t scare us they turn to scaring us with college students armed with chad punchers. What they don’t understand is that 18-25 year olds make up approximately 10% of the voting public. While over 60% of the voting public is age 40 and over.

It’s the 40 to 50 year olds in this election who will be the swing voters and determine our president. This age demographic is becoming disillusioned with Senator Obama and swinging towards Senator McCain.

http://tinyurl.com/6aobgr

Register 50 million voters. It won’t matter since it’s ACORN signing them up. The poll workers have a tendency to be over age 50 and happen to know Mickey Mouse can’t register to vote and probably a third of the 20 million ACORN registered are already registered.

The 2004 election saw a record increase in new registrations, Florida had a 60% increase. ‘04 saw the largest increase of 18-29 year old voters since 1971 when the voting age was lowered to 18. Even so, only 47% of youth voters showed up to cast ballots, unlike 60% of 35-44, 66% of 45-54, 70% of 55-64, 72% of 65-74 and 67% of age 75 and older. The youth vote chose to vote for Senator Kerry in ‘04, 54% for Kerry, 45% for President Bush. The Obamabots may not have noticed, but Senator Kerry is still Senator Kerry and President Bush doesn’t have former in front of his name.

http://tinyurl.com/5admwce

Presidential candidates have tried for decades to win the election with the youth vote. McGovern couldn’t do it. Anderson couldn’t. Kerry couldn’t. Obama can’t either.

Just from a purely strategic viewpoint I still can’t grasp how after 219 years of US Presidents being males that women voted enough against the only viable Woman running for US President and then call other women traitors for voting against Obama.

Either these women want to continue the leverage of unequal treatment/pay for equal job titles, they don’t trust their own gender to command the troops or they still have some father complex ingrained in them since childhood.

Comment by Snickers | 2008-09-03 03:14:44

Tyrion, we, women, are still socialized to be in competition with other females. We’re raised to compete for the attention of males against other females; while boys are socialized to act together in team sports. Things are changing, but not quickly enough.

Comment by Hilary4HRC | 2008-09-03 07:49:04

I think your comment is DEAD ON. I see this every day as a middle school teacher.

Girls are conditioned to see other girls as the enemy. They feel threatened by other girls’ popularity, fashion sense, etc. Why? Because media and popular culture tell them their value as a human being is in their appearance.

Until women can view each other within a sisterhood and leave the competitive, (media and the average male are not helping) non-productive feelings out of it, things will NEVER change. The plot lines in many of the movies and TV shows that young Girls and BOYS watch in recent years involve a battle or “rivalry” between one girl and another. There is nothing wholesome or entertaining about it. It’s everywhere — even Disney Channel. Ever seen Bring It On “In It To Win It”? Listen to the way they talk to each other. Jonas Brothers “Camp Rock” — plotline? Two girls — conflict — once again, listen to the dialogue! You rarely IF EVER see boys portrayed this way.

It’s societal conditioning and unfortunately, it isn’t going to change any time soon. If your daughter watches the popular stuff — teach her to watch for these situations. I’ve had many discussions with my daughters AND SON about the awful way girls treat each other in TV shows and movies. I’ve told them what to look for and they can view it through that “filter” — atleast they’re thinking about it when they watch. It’s hard to keep a 10 year old girl from a movie with the Jonas Brothers in it!!

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-09-03 09:27:40

Girls? Not just girls, grown women. One of the reasons I can’t be part of the PTA or other such group is the mothers. They are horrible. At my sons’ private school the principal actually had to send a notice home asking the parents to stop gossiping and tearing down other mothers and their children. Frankly, I can’t stand them and they know it. I’ll talk about school stuff with them but bail the second they start yammering about others. It’s like they never got over high school.

Comment by Heather | 2008-09-03 10:23:14

I do the same with my teen daughter.

ALSO, when she responds negatively to a fictional female character on TV (”I hate her”, or “What an idiot”) I always point out that she’s not a bad character, she just got a bad script! — and that, most likely, that script was written by a male.

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-03 11:09:37

When I read stuff like this, it only points out what a big failure feminism was. The feminist leaders were too self-serving, saw everything as patriarchal driven.

There was no attempt to focus on issues that were spawned in the female community. Issues of competition, gossip, jealousy, envy, back-stabbing, bird-dogging, etc.

These are issues that men cannot fix. It’s up to us.

The first step is to limit the amount of tv and movies your daughters and sons watch. It’s all misogynist and it objectifies women.

I’m not one of these armpit hair women. I think grooming is important for both women and men, but I draw the line at women being programmed to be masculine objects based on nothing else but the male desire for youth, beauty and zero brains. Women are humans and young girls should be taught to put a value on all their attributes.

Wake up, people. They are going to hack voting machines!

You better believe we women are gonna go for McCain/Palin! Palin addresses many of the women’s issues, work and home, dealing with special needs children, sexism in the workplace, dealing with female teens who have been brainwashed into a sexy sexy role that the liberal media and hollywood types created, and the need for abortion placed on women by an irresponsible male environment, etc.. You want to throw abortion out there like a threat to women, but in reality women would have little need for abortion if men would take more responsiblity for their “needs”. Face it, the Democratic Party is as sexist as it gets. They fear mongered abortion over the heads of feminists for years, but when push comes to shove they throw out some pretty Kennedy women and expect us to tow the line for a male sexist candidate. Sorry, but actions speak much more than Democratic Party words.

Anyone who listens to a “woman” that has a neck as thick as any dude I know and a voice as deep to match needs to have their head checked. Susan Estrich is a has been and the only people that still talk to her is FOX. No further statement required.

Susan Estrich comes bearing a Dukakis message to Barky. One he will soon learn.

Comment by Tuppence 411 | 2008-09-03 06:28:31

Susan Esrich was the first FEMALE Editor of the Harvard Law review. But unlike Barky she actually EARNED it based on merit! No surprize to us women, we know we have to work twice as hard to be considered even half as good as a man.

Comment by Heather | 2008-09-03 10:26:32

I love Susan. Her comments are dead on, and she delivers them in an charming fashion, always slightly amused as though she can hardly believe the idiocy of the situation. She is great!

Comment by mary | 2008-09-04 16:27:24

Just read Estrich’s book on Hilary. Interesting! And she’s a good friend of Bill adn Hillary since Dukakis days..

Obama’s just another no-gravitas, no-political-instinct, self-involved-and-worse Dukakis-clone. Except Dukakis was a decent man and was very intelligent. The repugnant party destroyed him further…He did not respond to the tank-attack, to his detriment.
So, now, they picked a she-pitbulll..And it’s the only time I can say “thanks” to McCain for being confident enough to chooose a woman. She’ll bite Obambi’s ears off in a chew-and-spit-out-of-the-ring manoevre!

Obama can always go back and resumehis campaign work for Odinga’s next election. He’d make a fine V-P for his billionarie slumlord islamist cousin!

Comment by educatedwhitewoman | 2008-09-03 10:59:14

Susan Estrich is brilliant and a decent, honest person, a rare combination in politics. And, she’s sure better looking than lots of male politicians, pundits, etc., whose looks, clothes, etc. are never factored into the equation of their merit.

Sexism is rampant in this country – in the MSM, business, and political circles, most notably in the totally corrupt DNC. Keep attacking Palin. Susan is right: at least 30% of Clinton supporters will vote for the McCain/Palin ticket – if only to show the good old boys who’s boss.

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-03 11:20:01

You guys really need to travel around to these teen gossip boards. This how they roll. It’s stupid but 2 can play that game.

Anybody who would consider voting for a man with big dumbo ears and who has purple lips, shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Susan Estrich is not running for anything. She is an experienced political consultant, a lawyer who’s expressing an informed opinion that you can take or leave.

A vote for 0bama puts the country at risk.

Comment by mary | 2008-09-04 16:39:45

Mimi,

Even though a vote for Obama may not necessarily put the country at risk, any more than voting for the trillion-dollar-deficit, anti-woman Republican agenda, still I agree that a vote against Obama is a vote FOR Women.

But the big question is: Is it a vote for women in a cosmetic sense. Yes, it’ll be great having a woman up there. But what about her belief system. Margie Thatcher ruuined her country! But she was comsetically correct, I admit.

In the final analysis, I feel that Sarah herlsef has learned a great lesson. She trashed Hillary’s valid complaints about sexism earlier on, saying that “gender is not important, a bit of sexism” doesn’t hurt, etc. Well, it’s come back to haunt her. Now Ms Palin realizes that the issues HIllary fought all her life to have discsussed are still there and SHE now is calling them out.

Perhaps, if only for a deserved punch thrown at Obama to stop trashing women and girls and slandering female candidates’ families….then it may be worth it. Like Uppity, some are sitting on the sidelines contemplating the virtues of fair consumerism candidates like nada nader, etc.

I personally feel that foreign relations arguments, other than improving the U.S.image of being thought of as a bully abroad due to Iraq’s unwarranted invasion, are not the deciding factor. As Eisenhower said in 1960, “beware of the military-industrial empire”. Bush taught us that a trillion bucks deficit fighting unstrategic, dumb wars is dumb! McCain or obama, it’s the same thing. Obama’s billionaire backers are the same as McCain’s.

A vote for Obama, though, may put women at risk–and that’s probably what’s going to bring the vital swing vote of the Travelling Pantsuit to McCain’s corner. After all, he put his money where his mouth is, unlike obama. He appointed a spunky, smart, competent woman as his V-P who hopefully has learned that feminism plays a role in politics if she wants to survive her nomination…

New voters aren’t something I would put stock in unless they actually show up.

Kind of like P.Diddy’s Vote or Die drama the last time with MTV. Guess what?? The little slackers didn’t show up to vote.

If that’s what you’re investing in, I would be worried Barry.

Comment by standard | 2008-09-02 21:19:47

He knows how to get ‘em to show up.
All the AA radios were pumping out the rhetoric claiming Clinton was pulling all kinds of racist trick against Obambi.
Remember Daily Kos “proving” that Clinton deliberately made Obama look darker in a photo on her website?
They’ll be giving McCain the same treatment.

Comment by Leisa | 2008-09-02 21:51:19

I did hear that certain places are paying people to vote… unethical but not illegal where they do it.

I think that needs to change. We also need to make it illegal for campaigns and organizations that support one candidate over another to drive people to polls.

Yes, let’s get out the vote, but the transportation needs to be impartial. There are vulnerable groups that were exploited this year. As a special education teacher, I am just rip rearing mad about it!

When I said to him today that “many women” have the view that a vote for McCain is a vote against the takeover of the Democratic party that many of us have called home for decades, here are some of the things I heard:

* Don’t go saying that you speak for “many women”, because you’re just one, singular

* You’re a Republican or Libertarian in disguise, must be

* Don’t vote against your self-interest out of spite

They still don’t get it. They don’t get that while voting McCain may or may not be in my short-term interests (I’m not sure), it’s in my long-term interests to try to send a message to the Democratic party any way that I can, that their recent conduct is not what I support with votes or dollars.

They’re desperate to drive Palin off of the Republican ticket. Why? Obama needs the votes. They know with Palin on the ticket many women may vote for McCain.

First they’ll try to destroy Palin. Then if McCain does drop her they cry out about the GOP doesn’t support women. Forgetting, of course, that the Democrats tried to get Hillary out of the race as early as January.

If you can cite one thing that is originally created by Obama one idea that is his, but everything he said is stolen and he betrayed Hillary and stole what she gave him in confidence. The man is worth nothing in my estimation. He will betray the Democratic Party and begin a military campaign in Africa.

In fact, Sarah Palin’s parents were both elementary school teachers, and her father taught science. She has a healthy love of it and is very broad-minded and progressive, actually. As for my friend, he had a breakthrough in nanotech inspired by the book of Genesis and photosynthesis. Didn’t you ever watch Star Trek, anyway? Interesting how all these failures like Estrich and Carville and others are trying to tell Obama how to run his campaign. Obama only managed to defeat the deepest, most entrenched political machine the Democrats have seen since Richard Daily went into that big precinct in the sky.

Tell me uppity how is electing a dyed-in-the-wool misogynist like McCain and an anti-choice religious zealot V.P. going to help the cause of women? Once moderate women get a gander at the bat-shit crazy policies of the Republicans they will loose all interest in “punishing” Obama. McCain admits to treating his first wife like shit; there is huge cloud of rumors that he has not been much better to Cindy McMoneybags.

The man is an absolute Neanderthal when it comes to womens issues as is the rest of the Republican brand. Ms Palin is yet another example of the anti-feminist tendencies of the Republicans. Say good-by to Roe and hello to back ally abortions if McCain/Palin get into office. But if those women die in those back-ally abortions it serves them right for not voting for Hillary, right? And it is the Obama voters who are cultist?!

Well, the old girl has’nt lost her touch yet for screwing over the dems every chance she gets.

Don’t forget to thank her among others when Nobama is royally humiliated and defeated in November.

You are just tooo stupid. There are morning after pills and RU486 now. No more back alley abortions no matter how much you Obamanots try to scare us. Maybe it is time we all took a look at the promiscuity going on in American social/sexual environment. 1 in 4 teenage girls have an STD and 1 in every 2 AA girls. AIDS isn’t gone and teenagers are the most likely to get it. Abortion was relevant to women who had gotten in a real jam in a more innocent time. Not as a regular part of birth control. Now days young teens really shouldn’t be having sex period. The only way to be assured that a person doesn’t get AIDS, an STD, a baby or anything else is abstinence.

So you are so wrong catfish, that what you say sounds and smell like a fish. Vote McCain08. Hillary 12, but never ever women hater obama

Comment by CATHERINE | 2008-09-02 21:27:33

I read somewhere that McCain only needs 15% of Clinton supporters to create an insurmountable lead over BO and win the GE. It’s over for Nobama. 30% would truly be a landslide victory for McCain.

Remember 4 years ago Bush was able to beat Kerry with only 6% of registered dems voting for him.

On November 4 REAL Democrats take back our party and start cleaning house by defeating Nobama and his cohorts. We can only do that by VOTING for McCain….at least he’s a decent human being.

And then 2012 HILLARY CLINTON ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!

Comment by Patrick Walker | 2008-09-02 22:02:15

I don’t. I have more respect now for Palin than I do for McCain.

McCain lost me when he coddled with the former evangelicals that skewered him in 2000. I’m not sure anything McCain could do to restore the respect I used to have for him.

Palin, on the other hand is helping the right with it’s argument about “leftwing” media bias. It’s hard to convince people that this bias is an illusion as the media drone on about pregnancies.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-09-02 21:49:45

I thought Fred Thompson did an excellent job on speaking about McCain. See Republicans don’t “eat their own” like the Dem’s did to Hillary. But that’s ok….I’m over it. Hillary went on to endorse Obama, right or wrong, I don’t agree w it. That just makes it even that much easier to vote for McCain and Palin.

Was talking to friends, been watching Fox news all day…..people are FIRED UP ABOUT PALIN. Just remember when the Obama camp begins spewiing their sewer mouths, it is because of fear….they reek of it. They know McCain just sealed up the election w Palin. They are so desperate…..

Comment by MJ | 2008-09-02 21:33:30

I’d say at least 30%. That’s a minimum…I predict more like 40-50%.

I know I’m getting very tired of Democratic surrogates, Obama and Biden saying any Hillary supporter who thinks about voting for McCain is stupid. (Seems a strange way to court a vote.) I know I’m getting very tired of the Democratic leadership and media who say they want a new day in politics, but seem to be working harder to tear down people than to discuss ideas.

The way in which they have handled the announcement of Palin as a running mate for McCain is both laughable and terribly sad. First they paint Palin as a liar. Then Obama can only mention she is a mayor. (Guess no one has told him yet that Palin is a governor.) Now the talking point is that Democrats are just SO concerned because Palin was not vetted properly. Even if that was so. It’s none of their business! Basically, they are so scared of Palin they are willing to destroy her and her 17 year old daughter just to keep themselves ahead in the polls.

Me…I can’t wait to pull the lever and vote for McCain/Palin. Never thought it would feel good to vote for a Republican…but it’s going to feel very, very good and more importantly very, very right for the country.

Comment by Fenelon spoke | 2008-09-02 21:46:24

Well said, MJ. The thought of pushing the lever for McCain/Palin is sounding like something I can do after 30 years as a Democrat. I can’t stand the militant, corrupt sexist Dems for forcing me to make this decision.

Comment by Postmaster | 2008-09-02 21:58:45

Obama’s insistence on referring to Palin as a Mayor of a small town, even tho he knows full well she is the Governor shows me he is trying to deminish her in the eyes of the country. Obama, you have reached the heighth of stupidity! Shame on any woman that will trash another woman and publicly ridicule and that means you Donna Brazile, a pregnant girl. These women are the scum of the earth. Campbell Brown, I’m embarrassed and YOU should be……your face was on my tv for the last time.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-09-02 23:01:43

Comment by SFK | 2008-09-02 21:39:15

It’s not about those daily minimal number polls for the U.S. as a whole, all weighted by some proprietary weighting. It’s about the electoral votes and the states where it counts.

The big guns come out all over next week. Maybe we’ll finally get some Bobama vetting.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-09-02 23:03:12

Comment by Snickers | 2008-09-03 03:38:03

I’m a PUMA/Hillary Harridan and will vote McCain in November (a sad day but have to take a stand), but just wanted to point out that what’s good and right doesn’t always win. Unfortunately I have to point out who’s squatting in the white House. And that’s neither good and right. Still I hope it will be a landslide victory for McCain and a thorough house cleaning of my party – the Democrats.

Here’s a good question.

Know what presidents Bush 43, Clinton, Carter, and Reagan share with Sarah Palin?

They are all governors that ran for the highest office (s) in the U.S. and none of them had any experiencein foreign affairs worth noting.

With just a little bite of digging, one will find that true of most of the men that ran for president. Need I say more CNN, MSNBC, Sally Quinn, Maureen Dowd, olbermann, Matthews, Donna Brazille?

Comment by Patrick Walker | 2008-09-02 22:08:33

Howard Dean didn’t have foreign experience when he ran in 2004.

I hate sounding conspiratorial but it’s hard to argue she isn’t being singled out because she’s a woman.

Another thought popped into my head today and it’s whether or not the same silly comments about Palin and her daughter if it was the father nominated for VP? Would the be saying the same thing about him neglecting his special needs child? By also singling her out for this supposed neglect, is it not implied that it’s Sarah’s responsibility alone?

I thought this was the twenty-first century?

Comment by Katherine | 2008-09-02 22:18:24

Hey Patrick, my calender says 2008 but apparently the DNC calender says 1900. I am beside myself with the hypocrisy of the “left”. It’s odd to me that many in the left blogosphere claim that she is a bad parent for running for office as if her husband is totally incompetent when it comes to raising HIS children. WOW I guess sexism cuts both ways.

Thanks Uppity Woman,

I will vote republican this year for the sole purpose of defeating the misogynists who have high-jacked the democratic party.

These pieces of shit need to be rooted out like the cancer they are!!!!I am sick to my stomach to see that the dems are a bunch of women haters. I knew that there were sexists amongst them, but this fish is rotting from the head. None of them, not even the other women in the party stuck up for Hillary, which turned a lot of women off. Dean’s lame excuse was that he doesn’t watch TV. That’s just bull shit. He came out to accuse FOX News of race baiting in march over Rev. Wright, but never noticed the CNN commentators calling Hillary a white bitch. I guess Donna Brazile never filled him in even though she sat right there and agreed. And I guess Howie never heard Keith Obermann say that one of the boys should take Hillary into a back room!!!!They’re fucking pigs!!!!

If the republicans stand up for Palin, it will go a long way with women voters, including Hillary’s voters. The dems are stupid!!! Spewing all this misogyny only rips the scab of the wounds left from how they abused Hillary. Maybe this Palin pick will pull more women toward McCain, especially as we watch the democratic misogyny machine start back up again.

I started out last year with no dog in this race. I figured the Democrat that came out on top would be far and away better than any republican. Looking at the three top tier candidates my thing was if anybody could do it it was Obama. Hillary had the Clinton last name with its attendant hatred, Edwards had the 2004 loss. Funny thing is it wasn’t Obama that first lost me, it was his surrogates at the Cheetoh and Talking Pointy Head. When I started paying attention to the race and positions I gravitated toward Hillary. Well, the Kossholes are doing it again, I’m going from sitting this one out to voting for McCain.

I think the post-graduate educated community is less kool-aid oriented than you suspect. It’s the bachelor’s degree crowd that’s wowwed by Obama. Post-grads are used to bright people and are better trained to cut through the bs.

Comment by Roxanne | 2008-09-02 23:05:39

Uh no…the ph.d crowd supports Obama overwhelmingly!

I don’t know of many professors and/or post grads who identify with gun-crazed, anti-abortion Jesus freaks who don’t even acknowledge the concept of global warming. That is in essence the McCain/ Palin ticket.

Ridiculous.

HA — I have a MA — and I am not poor. I’m middle class, highly educated. I am a feminist — have been since the 70s. The sexism NOW is far worse than anything I saw in the 70s — and I wrote my MA thesis on sexism of that era. So I guess I am sort of an expert on the sexism of the 70s.

I will NEVER EVER vote for Obama nor any other male chauvinist pig.

Soetoro-Obama made it very clear that he hated women, white women in particular, months ago. Every time Barky insulted Hillary — he was insulting every women.

Then Barky gave Hillary the finger — he was giving ALL women the finger.

Women have been insulted, called every vile and disgusting name by Obamaots — and it is these Neanderthals that I will also be voting against when I vote for Palin and that other guy on the ticket.

She is an honest woman, a straight talker — a rural, gun shooting hockey mom. What a shocker — an honest politician who takes on her own party when she sees corruption.

BARKY never did that — NOPE he’s living in that mansion that Rezko helped him buy. Barky is up to his purple lips in the pay to play game of dirty Chicago politics.

Barky is a zero.

And I know I’m not the only hyper educated, well of female who will NOT be voting for Barky.

Our “dignity” is rising every time we send in money to McCain/Palin and volunteering on his behalf…and on Nov. 4th, we will be sure to give a “dignified” toast to the McCain/Palin victory. For, apparently what you and Andrea Mitchell in your educated ignorance don’t realize is that TRUE feminists have respect for ALL women from ALL walks of life and when you wound a woman for the sake of wounding, we WILL unite. In addition, education has very little to do with actual intelligence. Abraham Lincoln had less than 1 year of formal education – …he homeschooled himself; many of the great intellects t/o history were self taught.

I am a 38 year old lesbian who shops at J.Crew and Barneys

Obama knows he is losing. He is getting crazy. He knows he is taking the Dem Party down with him. And now he can’t blame Hillary. His attacks against Palin mean he can only blame himself.

Comment by Annie Oakley | 2008-09-03 11:43:58

Blaming. They blamed Hillary, and didn’t take any responsibility for the way the primary was played. If they had, they could have tried to make amends. Now they blame Sarah Palin, instead of taking responsibility for having fanned the misogyny. Now they’re blaming PUMA instead of seeing that having a coup wasn’t a good idea. Now they’re blaming working class people, small town America, bitter, ignorant low-information voters, instead of acknowledging that people have eyes and ears even if they belong to the class the elite think they own. Blame. Blame. Blame.

Here’s where I think the blame belongs. Blame Donna Brazile, someone who has made a career of being an inside operative against democracy and told us the party didn’t need us and our quaint ideas. Tell Dean and Emmanuel and Todo that rigging a selection is not an election. Tell the “folks” who thought they could fool us with Obama that we are getting wise to the ways of media persuasion. Tell Pelosi that she broke the hearts of her people who wanted to see accountability in government. Blame the DNC for completely forgetting the people who once looked to them with hope that while they sacrificed their integrity for money and power, we are still trying to get by honestly in this world. Blame Obama for being a divisive fraud. We were looking for hope and change. He ain’t it.

Ms. Andrea Mitchell, the media elitist and Mr. Andrea Mitchell, the financial elitist should always remember that the working class makes your lifestyle possible.

It’s about policy, and Obama swiped the Clinton policy agenda from day one: middle class tax cuts, fiscal responsibility, healthcare, startegic investment, bipartisanship, effective diplimacy, green energy, etc…
Are you people so emotionally immature that you’ll waste the huge political opportunity we have now just to settle a vendetta? I despise Nader’s Traitors for destroying the party in 2000. And now you will do the same. Incredible.

Then you get to despise me twice. I thought Nader was right, and if Gore had listened to him, I don’t think it would have been close. But then again, Gore had the CNN talking head Donna Brilliant to listen to.

I did not support HRC because she was a woman, but because she was by far the best hope we had. I will not support Palin because she is a woman, but because she is a Washington outsider, a fresh face and change we can believe in while Obama is merely the Chicago branch of Washington corruption. A pay to play pol with a new twist. I know it is a long shot that McCain/Palin will bring real reform, but I’ve been playing diminishing percentages in politics for years now.

Blame me if you must, Bill, but until the DNC lives up to the fact that it has not delivered to its constituency, they should expect the exodus to continue.

Sen Leiberman seemed to be the man tonight that we nominated to be VP 8 years ago. Things are on the edge folks, and he sees it. He attempted to speak past the hand tonight. To us. Fred’s story about McCain brought tears. Last week at this time I would have written Hillary’s name in even though it didn’t count or voted for Cynthia McKinney. Tonight, since Friday, I wonder how many of us have changed to McCain/Palin? That would be an interesting statistic to know. How many Hillary Dems is less than one week have switched to McCain? Susan Estrich predictions are right on and rising daily.

Obama can brag all he wants about getting youth registered but come election day if they aren’t stoned out of their minds and liquored up maybe 50% will make it to the polls.

I do think there is a lot of concern about the coercion among the vulnerable folks transported to the polls or help filling out the absentee ballots, the dead people ballots etc. etc. The polls need security also and ID checking.

I hope Hillary doesn’t accept any cabinet position as a ploy to pick up some of her voters. Hillary don’t do it, because it won’t help him, NOTHING is going to help him. We can’t forget how he dumped on you and we will NEVER forgive him for that.

Lay off the family of the Governor. Has nothing to do with issues. She is more experienced than Obama ever will be and she is younger.

McCain’s character is unmatched. Obama, give it up, step down or aside for now and let the real candidate that can win for the Democratic party save its butt, Hillary Clinton. If you stay the course you are down for the count I predict.

Comment by Ben David | 2008-09-02 23:56:48

I have said all along there would be at least 32% of HRC people that would swing over to McCain. Now with Gov Palin it could be up to 35%. That is a huge number but people are seeing there is no there, there to obama.
I was happy to see McCain pull his interview for Larry King. The lady was way over the top in her questions asked concerning Gov. Palin. If she and others were to have asked obama some hard ass questions back in late 07 and early 08 this election would not be a toss-up at this point in time.

Great post Uppity. I’m glad Estrich, after drinking some of the kool-aid this election season, spoke the truth. Estrich should know better that the attacks against Palin are disgusting, vile, and uncalled for. Estrich herself was raped as a young woman. Violence against women whether verbal or physical comes from the same mentality that certain women are whores who deserve to be f*cked, abused, kicked to the curb. What we are seeing now is the Left blogosphere angry that this nobody beauty queen from a small town in Alaska might help McCain win from their Messiah. I have no words for the men and women who continue to attack the Palins, not on policy, but on stupid sh*t like their reproductive history. As a lawyer, I can tell you it is unlikely Roe v. Wade will be overturned but if it were it would simply return things to the 1960’s where each state made its own decision on availability. A woman in Utah or Idaho wanting an abortion would merely have to travel to California or Oregon.

Most of the Obama supporters are not giving the young people any credit.

The young people do think and they have judgement more than they are being given credit for.

Individual should be worrying about what is good for the country USA. Ask who ever is talking about change, what have there so far changed? What have they done? What are they changing? why?

Do not forget. Every body changes, we have begining and ending, we start and we stop, we are born today one tomorrow we will die, those are changes. Without the change, those under 18 years now will never turn 18 years come Nov. 4, 2008.

This is one of the over used word: CHANGE, those that has been changing and changing things have not been talking about change. Sen. Clinton has been making changes, we shoved her aside.

Let use be careful, change is good, but be careful of what you are wishing to change.

For me Sen. John S. MacCain is the one for president.

I am so happy you took time off from your study of rocket science and linguistics (i.e., “hahahaahahahaha”) to prove once again that the old Roman practice of infant exposure is so much in need today.

Donna Brazile was Gore’s campaign manager.

The subject, may I intercede to say, was remarking upon the ineptitude of Susan Estrich, Dukakis’s campaign manager. (This by implication, bright spark, impugns anything she does or says, a common, if not droll, technique in rhetoric.)

To wit: Susan Estrich, as Dukakis’s campaign manager, was responsible for taking that splendid 1986 photo op of Margaret Thatcher riding around in the Challenger with her scarf gallantly flying in the breeze and turning it into an absolute, meltdown, ludicrous clusterfuck: Our candidate ended up grinning like a drooling idiot and looking like a goddamn mushroom in the helmet.

Then Lee Attwater, rooming with George W. Bush at the time BTW, properly rogered her with Willie Horton to boot.

I blame MTV for your sort.

Well its great that someone is now listening to us., too bad the Os think that a woman is uncapable of doing anything other than raising a family at home, in todays real world many families have parents working and children sharing responsiblities, as of educated voters, hahaha yes I believe that allot of voters are being grouped as uneducated , as if we did not know who or why we would ever vote for McCain. I will never vote Obama it was that first impresssion , character is an issue for O , and the shady friends he lays in bed with.
Obama , hides from anything that will down his presidency, as for being vetted, with all the crap hitting on O , he was not invetted by the democratic party, Keep up the work, continue to alarm and post to all the nastyness that O supporters do:
continue voicing one voice, one vote, Nobama, I will not be a silence voice on electing O, a stay home vote, a handwritten vote for Hillary, , a fall in line vote for party unity, Puma, a race baited vote ,or a third party vote, I own my vote, and will vote for an candidate of experience and character. Obama has proven to be everything he stated he was not just another politician that will do anything from flip flopping to his record and his decesion to use sexism and race to win his way to the white house, and his muzzled whisper on how family is out but its ok to beat theirs up, Obama is not racing against Palin, He is up against McCain, Country first before party, just as the Democratic party threw Hillarys voters to the curb , remember they do not need us, they are the new democratic party full of deceit and the chicago political machine of thieves. Bann together and lets show them how woman and men will unite to defeat the less experienced , no record of fighting for the people, and the Godly one. Let us roar , with pride and show the disgust of the O campaign humiliating ,woman, elderly , and anyone who questions his record on policy, vote Nobama McCain Palin 2008. lets not sit down and stand by and let them do to Palin, as they did to Hillary, to demonize and characterize her as doing nothing and having no record.,, vote , vote, vote. those who have face book add Will bowers Puma anyone of those supporters who will bann together to vote McCain. Puma proud and Just say NOdeal stand up and be recognized, it is ok to vote republican, I do not agree with all but I have always respected McCain , … but I will not tolerate my party demoralizing woman, with sexism comments and racism to bait votes, its not the color of his skin, its his issues….

Gallup Poll:

The Democratic convention appears to have helped solidify support for Barack Obama among former Hillary Clinton supporters, with the percent saying they will vote for Obama in November moving from 70% pre-convention to 81% after the convention, and the percent certain to vote for Obama jumping from 47% to 65%

After the sleazy actions from the misogynist MSM, Bloggers, that will and has changed daily.18 million voters chose Hillary over Obama up to the very end and many of us refuse to vote for Obama or the corrupted democratic party and that number will grow.

Women KNOW a pig when we see and smell one. Obama is a pig!

Comment by Annie Oakley | 2008-09-03 12:22:49

That is good news. So, instead of 30% of Hillary Democrats saying they won’t vote for the DNC’s selection, only 19% say they won’t. So, that’s only about 3.5 million Democrats who won’t vote for him. Sounds like a cliff hanger. Sure hope the media doesn’t start talking about Obama’s career or he is toast.

Isn’t it time for the bi-partisan unity that was promoted by Obama? I am becoming more bi-partisan by the day as I take another look at the Republicans. It was Obama that voted for Dick Cheney’s Energy Bill, not John McCain. As for Palin, she’s extremely interesting and I’m hearing that she has energized the Republican Party. Did Biden do that for Obama? No. He’s the ultimate Washington insider. They talk about him taking the train home to Delaware each night. He must have caught it after his many Hardball appearances because he was on that show almost daily. I really do see McCain/Palin taking on the status quo. Obama is just using it. But the backlash is really against the TeeVee talking heads. I think both Partys agree they have become parodies of some sort of Saturday Night Live skit. It was brave and telling that McCain pulled out of an interview with CNN yesterday after they used Kos rumor/talking points instead of actually reporting.

Love Uppity! Love Estrich!

I spent last night explaining to my husband and son why I HAD to vote for Sarah…and I am very pro-choice.

With the way the D’s are attacking her, and the F—-MSM press there will not be another female on a ticket for a very long time( for the Oval Office).

If BO gets in it will just be the way it goes for women, DOWN.

Can we just boycott certain actors and shows due to their ignorance.

I don’t have a problem with people picking their party but I do have a problem with nastiness and ignorance.

If you’re right just speak the facts enough with the spin.

Comment by an observer | 2008-09-03 06:37:04

Ultimately, the single issue of this campaign will be the continuing general breakdown of the U.S. and European economies. The powerful national and international financial forces that want to see a president elected that will address the economic crises to their benefit are in complete control of the media. Because they own them! Many on these blogs don’t seem to get that.

These financial forces also have assets in BOTH parties. Dick Cheney is an example of that. Having said that, another option for them to have control of the executive branch by November that Vice-President Cheney will start World War III very soon, in which case neither Obama or McCain would ever be President. The situation right now, is that the election could be called off, while the nation operates under an unelected “emergency government,” for the duration of the presently onrushing global, economic breakdown-crisis.

The actual situation is, contrary to anything different that only foolish people might believe, both putative Presidential candidates are now doing nothing as much as losing the general election. Neither of the two candidates has a clue, or is likely to ever discover a clue, about the true state of the economy.

There is still hope that the chain will be pulled on Obama, as has been expected, by some time during September-October. That hope is based on Hillary having invoked the name of FDR in reference to the current situation. That translates into the approach of declaring a national bankruptcy and reorganizing the economy. The national and international financial entities (eg. Soros) do not, under any circumstances, want that because their ill gotten wealth will be wiped out in a single stroke. In short they have everything to loose and can be expected to react like cornered animals if faced with that prospect. Of course, nothing is certain, except chaos, unless we become lucky and get an option we would prefer.

The problem is not limited to the intellectual incompetence of the two Presidential candidates. In effect, letting the British (e.g., Rohatyn, Soros) steer muddleheaded Nancy Pelosi into virtually shutting down the U.S. Congress for most of the past two years, and eliminating the only leading pre-Presidential candidate who has shown the ability to think like an actual President, the U.S.A. does not have the prospect of an actually functioning, properly elected President assuming office come January.

This may or may not be the situation come November election-day. It is a possibility. In a situation like the present global financial and strategic crisis, the candidates nominated by the time the Republican conventions ends, may not be candidates when election-day arrives. Past Labor Day, the fact of the incompetence of the present top leaders in the Congress, the candidates, and the major press, will have begun to kick in.

One thing is for sure, many things are about to change, and that more or less profoundly, very, very soon.

Comment by Annie Oakley | 2008-09-03 12:32:48

I think you are right. Change, profound and soon. And it would take a miracle at this point to get a government up to the task of working through it on our behalf.

Uh, yes dude, “I’m a dumb bi*ch voting for the stupid cu&t from Alaska. Now please get your effin ignorant wanker off my front porch.”

Public relations lessons #1. Don’t lecture me about women’s rights while using words like bi*ch and cu&t and stupid.

The public response to the Dems vile attacks on Gov. Palin does not include the “Bradley” affect when folks enter the voting booth.

I expect at least 20% of all voting Dems to vote for McCain/Palin.

Our country cannot continue to prosper, much less exist if it is going to be so heavily influenced by extreme left hatemongers.

Comment by Cixelsyd | 2008-09-03 10:13:30

Ironic that you refer to “hatemongers” and “bradley effect” in the same post, but refering to opposite groups of people.

The “bradley effect” is nothing more than a PC way of saying racism by voters in the booth. Racism is hate.

This is going to be like Custer’s last stand! Where the hell did all those REPUBLICANS come from?
For the first time in my life, I watched the Republican Conventon last night…loved it!
My biggest regret is that I have not, in the past, acknowledge the many wonderful people from that party!
I plan to make amends, for the women in that party deserve everything that have earned as well!!!

If you don’t want to watch the spin, just turn on CSPAN. Reward no one with your viewership.

Ah yes. The McGovern comparison is deliciously apt, although I predict Obama will actually win about 5 states (I’ve been saying that all year and I’m stubborn). Four more than McGovern.

Another parallel is with the Kerry campaign. All throughout that one we heard about the “cell phone users” who didn’t show up in polls and the massive numbers of new voters, young voters, who would storm the booths and deliver Kerry a landslide victory. Oops, not so much.

Comment by Cixelsyd | 2008-09-03 10:02:57

Sorry, guys. Latest polls show Obama closing in on 90% Dem support following the convention. If he gets to 90%, the registration advantage alone will make in nearly impossible for McCain to win.

Either Hillary voters are only 10-15% of the electorate (which we know is not true) or far less than 30% have gone PUMA (which is far more likely)

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-09-03 10:12:02

Oh Ok. Sure. Whatever you say there, Bunky. Just wait. The 527s don’t want to steal any thunder from Palin….if there is one thing the republicans do VERY well, it’s time their attacks. I dont think so, susie girl. The NYT and the LA Times have published articles showing that 81% of former Hilary supporters have come back home to support Obama. He’s gone up 10 points in the polls and McDouche has gone down 7 points. How embarrassing is it when you have your convention and you drop 7 points? McDouche makes it so difficult to love this country. AND, Obama is now 21 points ahead with women and 35 points ahead with Hispanics. It’s all over except for McCain’s whining!!

Comment by eurogirl70 | 2008-09-03 10:56:18

Thank you Leona for citing to NYT and LA Times. Exactly who have they bothe been stumping for this primary season?

Yeah, that would be Obama. They have skin in this game and they have been creating a narrative that Obama is stronger than he is. [Bob Herbert, Maureen Dowd,Frank Rich]

Let’s see what the NYT track record has been since 2001. Judith Miller anyone?

My god, where are you getting your facts? Yeeeshh!! McCain and Obama are practically TIED and Obama got NO bounce. Look at Rasmussen and Zogby for the real polls. Not NYT which has been in the tank for Obama since the beginning.

81% of HRC supporters coming home? That’s the biggest load of crap I’ve ever heard and I’ve seen no such number anywhere.

Did you just make all this up?

Comment by Brooke | 2008-09-03 10:54:12

30% plus 3 in my immediate family. Myself, my dad, and my brother all voted for Hillary and will be voting for McCain. My mom is too much of a Democrat and even though she agrees with how the DNC treated us women, she won’t ever vote Republican, ever.

I want to say, I’m so glad to see people who see this for what it is and see Obama for what he is. I’m also glad to see such passionate Clinton supporters here other than myself. I’ve felt so alone this year. I’ve been on this journey for 16 years (since I was 13, I just turned 29) and I couldn’t imagine getting off this journey. I worked for Hillary here in PA for two months and it was one of the most incredible experience of my entire life.

I’m proud to vote for McCain/Palin. I have voted Republican before but never for President. This is my 3rd election and in the past two I held my nose and pulled the lever for Gore, then Kerry. I won’t do it this time because I found a much better candidate in John McCain. I went to one of his rallies in 2000 in VA when I was going to college in DC. I met him and Cindy and was incredibly impressed. I said back then that he would be the only Republican I could see myself voting for if I didn’t like the Democrat. How true those words would become 8 years later, even though I hoped they didn’t.

I am also Jewish and love Israel. My hero was Yitzhak Rabin. Ever since his assassination, Nov. 4th is always an incredibly hard day. Well I know he’ll be proud of me for standing up for my country when I walk into the voting booth on the 13th anniversary of his murder and vote for someone I believe will fight for peace and defend America and Israel at all costs.

Plus, my real hero, Bill Clinton gave me his blessing with his “candidate X and Y” comparison.

McCain/Palin ‘08

Comment by kcfromtx | 2008-09-03 11:20:06

I think that 30% figure is low. Every hispanic I talk to is voting for McCain. These are formerly Hillary voters and vote democrat almost always. The hispanic women are excited to vote for McCain/Palin.
If the media doesn’t think there is anything wrong with black people voting for obummer at 95%. they should have no problem with women voting for a ticket with Palin on it.
The democratic party and obummer gave a big FU to women. McCain has welcomed women and people of other parties into his campaign. His keynote speech was given by Al Gore’s running mate.
Hell, even Bill Clinton suggests voting for candidate Y whom we trust but don’t agree with 50% of the time, rather than voting for candidate X who we agree with but don’t have an confidence in.

Comment by DancingOpossum | 2008-09-03 12:26:46

The babbling ‘bot is correct that BO has a slight lead over McCain right now, RCP average has it as 6%. Naturally, the ‘bot is too stoned or deranged to do the math correctly.

This is BEFORE the end of the Republican Convention, though, so McCain’s post-convention bounce should even things up again.

What is more interesting is the state by state polling in swing states, which has must-win states Ohio and Florida showing McCain in the lead. McCain is also in the lead in Missouri and Nevada. Obama is leading in Pennsylvania, Michigan (two other must-wins) and New Mexico. New Hampshire and Virginia are tied (but VA will definitely go to McCain).

Also they are both showing the same favorable/unfavorable numbers, each hovering just above 50% favorable and 35% unfavorable, roughly.

Comment by DancingOpossum | 2008-09-03 12:29:16

p.s. Hillary would have easily won Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Florida along with the ones Obama is ahead in. It would have been a blow-out.

Comment by Bob Smith | 2008-09-03 15:02:57
