Breaking: Rasmussen Finds Sarah Palin More Popular Than Obama or McCain

Sarah Palin’s meteoric rise — in the unbelievably short period of one week — has improved the mood and riveted the attention of voters in this presidential race.

Gov. Palin’s special appeal as a hardy Alaskan, a fearless opponent of corruption, and a gifted multi-tasker has also sucked all the oxygen out of the room for Obama and Biden, who seem all too familiar and far too predictable. Starting in June, Obama had already begun to lose most of his magnetic appeal when he shifted from the hypnotic mantra of “hope and change” to more “meat and potatoes” Democratic politics. In a gambit to win independents and moderates, Obama further lost his appeal to liberals when he made a hasty retreat from core progressive issues such as FISA.

In short, Obama is no longer, to most Americans, a fresh and unique figure in U.S. politics. And, with the ho-hum choice of Joe Biden as his running mate, he further dampened the flames of enthusiasm and passion for him as an iconic, singular figure of fresh hope.

Barack Obama is about as exciting as last year’s fashions, 90% off, at Value Village.

Now check out these astonishing numbers that show the tectonic shift in one short week, all because John McCain took a gamble on an unknown running mate. Along with related blog posts, Memeorandum.com is featuring the hot new story, “Palin Power: Fresh Face Now More Popular Than Obama, McCain” from Rasmussen Reports:

A week ago, most Americans had never heard of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Now, following a Vice Presidential acceptance speech viewed live by more than 40 million people, Palin is viewed favorably by 58% of American voters. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% hold an unfavorable view of the self-described hockey mom.

The figures include 40% with a Very Favorable opinion of Palin and 18% with a Very Unfavorable view. … Before her acceptance speech, Palin was viewed favorably by 52%. A week ago, 67% had never heard of her.

The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCain’s choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden. …

This is utterly fascinating polling. I recommend reading the entire analysis.

Rasmussen Reports offers a free daily e-mail, which I didn’t know was available:

I haven’t even read the post, just read the headline and started to laugh…..LOL, I just love it!

Comment by Morgan | 2008-09-05 13:22:22

I think and hope that her appeal will be slightly more lasting than Obama, since her focus is not nearly so much on herself but rather what she does.

I do love, and all respect to other ladies already in government, but I do love that her position has NADA to do with her husband. She did it. That’s what women and girls need to see, need to know. They can do it, just like anyone else, and without anyone’s help, and likely with long odds. Go for it.

BO’s been running for President ever since he was elected to the Senate…Sarah has a lot of time left and thankfully the election is only months away.:)

MUST READ article about Obama’s community organizing past, his own realization that community organizing was worthless at effecting change, his decision to go to law school and get into politics, etc. I can’t link directly so will send you to a post on HCF:

Susan, or someone, please write this article up from The New Republic. It shows that Obama — suddenly intense defender of community organizing — himself knew it had very limited reach. It also shows how he came around to the idea of the impact charismatic leaders could have, etc.

Absolutely essential reading for all those opposed to Obama. It is a long article, but very much worth the read.

In the last 4 days, BHO’s lead in the polls have gone from +6/+5 in Rassmussen to +2/+1, and in Gallup it went from +8 to +4. CBS has things tied.

I’m LOVING it!

:)

Comment by Elliott | 2008-09-05 14:44:41

Some of this has been addressed before. It seems when Sen Obama gets a job, he can never do enough “for the people” and needs a bigger, better and more powerful job. He did this as a community organizer, Harvard Law Review editor, lawyer, state legislator, unsuccessful candidate for US House of Representatives, and the US Senator. If he is elected President he will say he does not have enough power to get things done “for the people”. What is next king or dictator? At each level he doesn’t do anything but say he needs more power. This is why is has no record of ever doing anything.

Comment by Steven Mather | 2008-09-05 15:30:02

Paul’s point is important because “Palin is bashing community organizers” is one of the 0’s new talking points.

Comment by cassie23 | 2008-09-05 17:11:26

Did you notice that even when obama uses “community organizer” belittling by Sarah, that they don’t even use him and his own community organizing but someone else? LOL He couldn’t even use himself because he was not that type of get things done community organizer. His job as community organizer was to hustle up votes to climb the ladder.

Comment by vanessa | 2008-09-09 23:18:58

you guys are missing the point as usual living the last 8 years while the republican party has focused on “security” the country is in an energy crisis and a recession, who cares if Palin had more experience is she gonna focus on the things that will affect our future as Americans? You could not be so unintelligent, not to know that it takes a group of people with one goal to accomplish things and it wont be Obama, palin, biden, nor mccain alone it is a team effort and it starts with us as Americans not in Washington, so stop the foolish remarks about who has experience and who does not, or community leaders etc. Did u have experience when u started your first job?

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-09-05 20:26:40

So, what are the actual responsibilities of a community organizer? What did Obama do? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I have been saying this for a while now because I read his book. It’s right there in his book (the first one, “Dreams from My Father”) what he thought of his “community organizing”.

Paul-thanks for the link and Elliott- I read your comment below AFTER reading the link to TNR that Paul provided us with.

I read the TNR article-and I posted my comment but being reviewed by moderator.

I pointed out (in my blog on TNR) that I was not sure what to make of the TNR article-maybe its just me-I can be a little thick at times BUT after reading your comment Elliot- I suggest you post your remark on the TNR link that Paul provided us with.

It sounds like you read the article. your point sounds very valid.

I questioned the TNR author as to why he took so much for granted when writing the article.

It sounded like he was spitting back what someone told him?

I also included links to 2 other websites that include articles about the Alinsky method plus comments by readers”

Obama has to focus on himself and not what he has done. Why? Because he hasn’t done anything … unless you include voting ‘present’, rigging elections, ans hanging out with criminals (Rezko) and terrorists (Ayres, Hamas).

Agreed that women and girls will be motivated in positive way to have such a great role model who rose from the bottom of the heap.
Like Hillary, she’s from middle class, but unlike Hillary, she never showed any interest or love for Women’s Issues or Children’s issues.

sure, she wants to be an advocate for Special Needs children, but what about the other children.
If she is going to be a Steel Lady like Maggie Thatcher, with a Smile, then all that TRULY PROGRESSIVE WOMEN LIKE HILLARY have accomplished will be gone.

An empty role model is something similar to Obama–an Empty Suit.

This election is sad indeed…The only bright spot is that we do have a role model for girls who aspire to politics, yes.
We have someone willing and able to take on that Xeroxed Candidate of the ex-Democratic Party, yes.

McCain was conciliatory in his speech and sounds sincere that he want to reach over to the Independents and Dems (should say exDems after the holocaust on Hillary during hte primary) and be the Bridge that Hillary should have been to unite the two parties!

Obama will regret that he didn’t have the political instinct or smarts to put Hillary as his V-P. JFK put his arch-foe Lyndon Johnson as his V-P and went on to win election!

Obamarama’s huge Ego did not let him win the election for the exDemocrats!

Sweetie, come November, you’ll see the Light to cure obamyopia. Karma is a bitch, baby Barack. Get over it!

Thanks S, for pointing out the reasons the majority of Americans like SP and NOT BHO or Joe. Great to see such a refreshing new face on the horizon who is well qualified, and can do such a great job overall. Yes, she does represent a formidable challenge to the Bots, now that they have been upstaged; they don’t like 2nd billing. The Repubs certainly are still cheering JM and SP.

Comment by Turning Tide | 2008-09-05 14:48:02

She beat him after only one week. There are certainly many reasons for this but the most important I should think is the backlash just waiting for a chance to explode. Also I think a lot of people give McCain/Rove credit for completely fooling the Dumb Democrats.

Comment by Urban Hillbilly | 2008-09-05 14:50:39

I agree –

Obama’s derision of small town folks and his derision of women. Now, the backlash.

Obama is not going to be able to stop himself now, as Palin is more popular than he is. Ha!

Comment by mary | 2008-09-05 17:09:19

Urban Hillbilly

You got it right 100%!

Gov. Palin combines the two catastrophic elements that are the biggest impediments to Barack’s way to the Good Ship Lollipop(WhiteHouse):

-Extreme Misogyny displayed by media frat-boys and Obama Himself; and

-BitterSmall town folk clinging to their religion, guns and racial prejudice (”those not like them”!)

Sarah gets on her side the women and the bitter small towners with relgion, guns and antipathy for elitists like Himself.

Sarah’s got the winning combo. Now if only Bambi would have chosen (unafraid like JFK) his former political opponent to be on his ticket, he would still be unbeatable. Hillary had what it takes and she polled way ahead of McCain!

And of course, if Hillary was chosen by the cowardly Barack, Sarah would still be shooting moose in Alaska!

Barack shot himself in the foot by letting his ego triumpt over political smarts. He diminished Hillary by not putting her on the VP slot–and lost the bloody election! simple!

Well, sweetie, get over it! You shouldn’t be afraid of strong women. And this baraccuda will chew both your ears and anorexic resume off in a hurry! Amen, bros and sistahs!

Yes, indeed! Hillary must be chuckling out loud by now. Obambi was afraid of the puma…now he’s got an angry, gun-toting, religious, bitter woman at his heels. And she intends to make moose-burgers out of his big ears!

Sarah actually blocked a vote as Mayor of some moosetown to prohibit abortion rights and as Governor she allowed partner benefits for gays. She had said that even tho she did not share those beliefs, she was a staunch believer in the Constitution taking precedence to personal views!
Outta girl! Let’s hope McCain makes her more independent-minded….

Ah, obamyopia is on the way to being cured! Yes, God, karma’s a bitch…with a rifle!

Also someone needs to ask the View if they want to be critical about why McCain pick Palin who they feel has less qualifications then I want them to question why Obama didn’t choose Hillary who had 18 million votes. There’s one very rich demagogue. And don’t tell me she didn’t choose Obama because of skin colour. People who engaged in slavery were despicable but there’s never been racists like the AAs.

Comment by Wisewoman | 2008-09-05 17:08:02

Turning Tide. I think your statement regarding “there’s never been racists like the AAs” is over the top and because it is all encompasssing, it is not true. Have you forgotten George Wallace, Lester Maddox, Dr. King’s murderer, etc. I am an AA female supporter of Hillary. The main true racist is Obama who lied to blacks and trumped up false charges of racism against the Clintons. Thanks to Obama, blacks became furious thinking these charges were true. Their support for him is based on falsehoods and a sense of pride in their race.
For his slanderous conduct in making those charges and in lying to black people about them, I detest Obama. I hope he loses this election by a landslide!! Then ordinary blacks will understand he lied to them and he will be despised by them as well. As for the so-called black leaders (Clyburn, Brazille, Jessie Jackson Sr, John Lewis, etc) who knew the racial charge was a lie and did not stand up to refute it, I have nothing but utter contempt for them and I hope they lose as well. I marched with Dr. King. Because Obama lied on the Clintons, dishonored my work as a person who marched with King for civil rights and made a fool out of black people I will never, ever vote for him. I will be voting for McCain.

Comment by mary | 2008-09-05 17:35:32

Wisewoman.

Agreed on everything you posted. But it’s sad when you see a man who marched with MLK, a thinker and a man who cares and is loyal to the Clintons lie John Lewis who then is forced by AA leadership to forsake his friends and what he believes in…it’s sad.

I saw a mocking trio of pseudo-journalists, I believe at msnbc (morning Joe?) and all three were Hillary-bashing. Hillary looked tired, drained and disoriented. As she turned to meet Bill who wanted to kiss her, Barack tapped her on the shoulder and she turned away from Bill to kiss obama instead.
I oculdn’t believe the vitriol making fun of HIllary’s turnabout.
The jerks did not even stop to consider that this was at a funeral of one of HIllary’s closest friends: Stephanie Tubbs Jones!
Shame on those morons….Wish they’d leave Hillary alone at least in a Funeral Home…

Comment by Turning Tide | 2008-09-05 15:01:58

Some things hit deep. People idolise their favorite actors. Some things carry over. I can no longer tolerate several from the Hollywood camp because they are cruel, complicit in murder, racism – these are things that come to our attention – they color how we view these people and react to them. Hollywood has always been liberal and some of the great Hollywood films have been forces for the political good – but this time? This time they’ve simply gone too far: this time they’ve exposed themselves not as good thinkers but as pandering slobbering fools.

Comment by Tuppence 411 | 2008-09-05 17:11:01

I think part of the appeal of Governor Sarah Palin lies in the fact that she reminds me a lot of Marion Ravenwood as played by Karen Allen in the Indiana Jones movies. She presents herself as very down to earth and spunky, someone you can have a drink with and talk about everyday problems with who also will not take crap from anyone.

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-05 13:39:31

Yes, but it shows you how tough it is for women to beat criticism, that Palin herself is compromising on her own value of tackling problems head-on when she says you can’t do it, it makes you look weak. And another irony is that Palin can now fight sexism in a way Hillary couldn’t because the big man (Mac)is on her side. And that’s it. Women have to have men defend their right to be equals before other men and the self-hating women who enable them will accept the idea. Fewer and fewer men helped Hillary. Her big man was preemptively trashed so he would be ineffective. Maybe it was a political weakness to speak out against media bias, but it wasn’t a whine, it was a lone voice speaking to truth.

Comment by looking for integrity | 2008-09-05 17:44:08

It wasn’t so much the big man on her side. It was the party and the party’s women. I had to give a cheer for carly Fiorina when the RNC women got toether to defend Palin. Fiorina made it a point to say she’d stood up for HRC several times, and even though she diagreed with her on some things, she was a great candidate who had been treated with sexism.

i find it abhorrent however in my office when the men got all upset about a woman on the ticket. Hell, we make up 50.7% of the population and close to 50% of the labor force meaning we pay taxes and support this nation. Why do men think a woman should not be on the ticket? Most of these guys are Dems. They didn’t want Hillary and don’t want Palin.

Comment by mary | 2008-09-05 17:51:56

bemused

I saw video of Palin made at an interview in a radio station a few months ago and she was smart and snappy, but she was very discouraging talking about Hillary as if she was “whining” and she said “gender’s not that important, you know, I just ignore it…it’s always there, you can’t do anything…I just go on with my business”

I laughed at Sarah Palin’s naivette. But I wonder now that she’s at the receiving end of the misogynist abuse, how does she feel about Feminism?

that’s the problem with Conservative Women. They don’t get it –unless it hits them personally. And then they have a big guy (mccain) for backup. Hillary’s views on the world in general and women’s rights and children’s rights are million light years AHEAD OF SARAH. Sarah’s a poor substitute for Hillary.

Let’s hope that Sarah has learned a valuable lesson about Sexism in the media and in her own party, too, that vilified Hillary all these months together with the Obamarama Campaign misogynists.

It’s a miracle that Hillary survived and got 18 million cracks on the ceiling. There is no way Sarah could have pulled it off. She’s smart, she’s intelligent, she’s ambitious, she’s a multitasker. But Sarah has yet to open her eyes to issues that affect women other than herself! She’s no feminist. Yet Sarah’s a terrific role model for girls in the career track.
Well, let’s take Sarah and appreciate her for what she can do to make sure Obambi’s smirk is frozen in History. She’ll just say:
“Sweetie, get over it!”….

Ah, Hillary, how we miss your compassion and decades-long service to the cause of Women and Children.

I strongly recommend that Sarah listen carefully to Hillary’s 1995 Bejing Speech where she challenged the Chinese officials and sparked a debate that will continue long after Sarah sees the Light:

“HUMAN RIGHTS ARE WOMEN’S RIGHTS
and
WOMEN’S RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS”–HRC Bejing’95

Comment by Jane from Tx | 2008-09-05 21:41:17

this is a really good point. and
the fact that there is so much negativity, hostility and hatred dumped on women in politics just shows you how intrinsic and accepted sexism is here.
so basically you are dammed if you do speak out against it- then youre a whiner, and dammed if you dont speak out against it – then you are considered weak and complicit in your own victimization. Its a neat little trick pulled by people, men and women, who fear the strength of women.

Comment by Diana | 2008-09-05 14:07:10

Exactly. Not to mention she then went on to praise all the the things she liked and respected about Hillary.

Comment by Morgan | 2008-09-05 13:33:05

I agree if her goal is just to pick up voters, but I also think it’s great to realize that not just men can span the spectrum of ideas. Women should be flourishing in all parties ideally.

She does have some stark differences with Hillary, and I can’t imagine she’s the type to shrink from that. But I think it’s a good idea for her to at least acknowledge and continue to thank the women that came before her. Not that Hillary’s gone, but still.

Hillary’s fighting spirit earned her the begrudging respect of conservatives during the primaries.

I have several Republican colleagues who admitted they liked Hillary, even if they would never vote for her against McCain. Those same colleagues can’t stand Obama.

But anyway, back to “strong women,” who do we think someone like Putin is going to respect more? The moose hunting huntress from the frozen North, or Mr. Arugula with his man-hands?

I could actually see Palin and Putin sharing some vodka shots and working out their differences.

Putin would not respect Obama. I have hosted Russian exchange students. I have several friends from Russia. The problems we have in this country don’t hold a candle to some of the problems they still have in their country. Putin would eat Obama for breakfast and wonder what’s for dessert.

After Hillary left the race (Well, rather, after she was FORCED out of the race) in June, I kept saying that if McCain picked Palin, it would galvanize and energize the base.

I had heard about Palin previous to McCain’s announcement that Palin was his pick for Veep, and liked what I had heard. Now, I am excited about her. How can you not like her? Regardless of her personal positions, I have not seen much that shows she has tried to impose her personal beliefs on anybody during her tenure as governor. I like that.

Since I do not believe “social issues” will be on ANY presidential radar these next four years, I am comfortable with Palin as Veep, and the non-religiously-beholden McCain as President.

Thanks McCain, for making things interesting again and cancelling the coronation of B. Hussein Obama II.

They key point is here (Rasmussen):

“However, following the Wednesday night speech, voters are fairly evenly divided as to whether Palin or Obama has the better experience to be President. Forty-four percent (44%) of voters say Palin has the better experience while 48% say Obama has the edge. Among unaffiliated voters, 45% say Obama has better experience while 42% say Palin.”

Comment by mkm125 | 2008-09-05 13:32:53

Ummm… for some reason I thought Obama was running against McCain?! It’s clear that McCain has more experience than Obama–so is this why we are now comparing Obama with Palin? Last I checked, she is running as the VP……..where’s Biden vs. Palin in all this?

Comment by street_parade | 2008-09-05 14:50:20

EXACTLY! This is the problem Obama now has — the press is framing this as if he’s running against McCain’s VEEP! McCain can relax into the role of being Presidential and a father figure to boot(which doesn’t hurt). Meanwhile, BO is running around talking about the experience of McCain’s VP who has exactly as much experience as he has – only HE’S running for the top job.

McCain’s a wiley old coyote.

As a former Alaskan (Anchorage is my hometown), Sarah Palin resonates with me. Even though I do not agree with many or her views (I used to consider myself quite liberal until the fiasco of this election and the lows the Liberal Left has sunk to…), I may find myself voting for McCain/Palin. I shock myself every time I think this out loud considering I used to be a Dem. Here is a link to a great article by Gerard Baker of the Times discussing why Obama and the lot need to be wary of Sarah Palin!

From The Times
September 5, 2008
Sarah Palin: it’s go west, towards the future of conservatism
Her thrilling convention speech showed that the Governor of Alaska is a force to reckoned with. But she might be more than that…
Gerard Baker
The best line I heard about Sarah Palin during the frenzied orgy of chauvinist condescension and gutter-crawling journalistic intrusion that greeted her nomination for vice-president a week ago came from a correspondent who knows a thing or two about Alaska.

“What’s the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?”

“One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let’s be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

“The other kills her own food.”

Comment by Diana | 2008-09-05 14:46:59

rofl Fantastic Article. Thank you for the link! I found these two paragraphs very telling. Herein lies the real hope and change for this country, it sums it all up. Although there is much more. I saved it all.

First of all she offers an opportunity for an ailing Republican party to reconnect with ordinary Americans. She’s conservative, but her conservatism is not that of the intolerant, uncomprehending white male sort that has so hurt the party in recent years. She is much closer to a model of the lives of ordinary Americans – working mother, plainspoken everywoman juggling home and office – than any Republican leader in memory.

Experience hasn’t got Americans into a very comfortable place. They want change. Before he signed up to some of the less attractive Republican attitudes this year, Mr McCain’s career had embodied that change – the anti-establishment candidate running against his own party. Now he is joined by a woman who, in her short career, has done the same thing.

Comment by Stray | 2008-09-05 16:03:00

This is an election, as the Democrats have realised all along, about an America on the cusp of change. With the moose-hunting, establishment-taunting Mrs Palin at his side, Mr McCain might represent a bigger change than the one that his opponents are offering.

Comment by memi | 2008-09-05 18:19:30

Stray,

Your Republican adoration for McCain Palin may not be warranted. The article made a few Hillary-bashing observations and concluded that Palin, unlike HIllary, didn’t depend on a man to get her the Senate seat!

I got news for the Republicans inhabiting this site who just don’t get it in their antediluvian heads that Palin, while repersenting change in appearance, is not much different than George Bush in her policies. To have a l7 year old preggie daughter and to believe that a pregantn child should bear the child of rape or incest….come on, now, Sarah, open your eyes!

Do you really think Sarah knows shit all about Universal Health Care and Chidlren’s real issues. Her Margaret Thatcher policies will bring disaster and barbaric times back to the world.

I really don’t think her policies are any better than Bush. She looks hot. Bush doesn’t.

Now, Obama looks just as bad with his sexist personal views. He deserves a slap from Palin. Yes. But in voting for McCain Palin ticket, God help America!

Sarah is a great woman and spunky and lively and a celeb already. I would prefer to have a friend like Sarah than Barack (god forbid!).

But Sarah was just as clueless as Obama about Sexism when she bashed Hillary calling her in the interview (youtube) a “whiner” adn “too gender focused for me..I just forget about it and go on my business….what sexism? it’s not there!!”

Yup that was Sarah before she met Sexism personally!

But I would not want either her or him in the White House!

What the hell can we do to bring back HIllary?

Palin is Margaret Thatcher in likeability drag!

Comment by Hope Floats | 2008-09-05 20:36:26

Hillary is out of the race. She got out a long time ago. Dems had a chance to nominate a winner, but they wanted Obama too badly. Sarah Palin is a Republican. In case you haven’t noticed, we don’t care.

I guess they never saw the Breck Girl Edwards hair video.

My grandma used to do that to us all the time and we protested when we got older… then I found myself doing the same to my own kid.

It is pure love. Grooming another person is an instinct. Taking a hair off them or fuzz ball shows you care about them. Sentimental as hell and all the money in the world can’t buy an ad like that and no advertising agency would have thought of it.

Comment by Diana | 2008-09-05 15:03:12

Oh please. I saw my mother lick her hand before pictures and swab down my brother’s cowlicks. I did it to my own child when I was rushing to do something. He was such a nature child, as most toddlers are with mother’s stuggling to keep clothing on them. It reminded me of a memory from when my son was a toddler.

We were going to get a family potrait. I had him all dressed in a little suit. My hands full, his sister was holding his hand. By the time we got from the house to the car, his bottom half was nekkid. So I had to walk back to the house gathering up his clothing, get him all dressed again. Then as we’re driving down the road a highway patrol man pulled me over. I thought great these people are strict on their appointments and I am going to be so late, what did I do?

He came up to the car and told me, “Ma’am you might want to look in your back seat.” I did, there sat my half nekkid child again. He said, “I tried to get all his clothing for you, he caught my attention because as you were driving his clothes were flying out the window, and hitting my window, but I only got one shoe.” So back home I had to go getting more clothing, but just leaving him in a diaper till we got there. Needless to say by then I was a mess, he was a mess. I had no water, so I just licked my hand to fix his hair he had such curly hair. My daughter was standing behind him licking both her hands trying to smooth out his curls. That little girl connected with mother’s everywhere, the same as her mother did. ;)

hey if Michelle Obama can do it every one can join in…

what a horrible example she is to humanity…

Five days after Obama said families are off limits, Michelle Obama feels it necessary to tell us all that the Obama’s will not have anymore kids because the “presidential race is enough additional responsibility”.

The Obama campaign is telling us that Sarah Palin is unfit to run for VP because she has too many young children. The Obama campaign is afferming and endorsing the sexism that has polluted the MSM, the blogs and the rhetoric of the democratic primary.

This announcement tells America that the Obama campaign has nothing left to stand on, nothing left to offer the voters and that they are truly desperate.

More importantly, it also finally unmasks the true origins of the smears spread about Palin’s daughter, the disgusting lies about Palin’s newly born son and the appalling sexism Americans have had to endure over the last year as nothing more than Obama campaign talking points.

Now we just have to wait for Obama to say, “That is not the Michelle I knew”.

This is classism. Michelle had children in her 30’s when her career was under way. Sarah is the same age and has a son in the military so she was in mid 20’s. Michelle is condescending again. This is a personal choice as there is no right or wrong time to have children or not have children at all. This just more of the educated class wanting to tell everyone what to do for their own good. No one cares what she thinks. They are yesterdays news now.

Although I wanted Hillary Clinton, I am more than happy to champion Sarah Palin.
After Hillary was treated so miserably by the DNC, Pelosi and Obama, I renounced my 35 year membership in the Democratic Party. After all didn’t Donna Brazile and Obama say they didn’t need “those people” in the “new Democratic Party”?
I am now an Independent, and with Sarah Palin as vp, I just might become a Republican.

So hopefully she will be proud that what she has done paved the way for another woman. She should be proud that her run really brought the still prevailing and blatant sexism in this country full force out in the open. And I really hope she tones it down about her support for BO. A little humor:

The Presidential election was too close to call. Neither the Republican candidate nor the Democratic candidate had enough votes to win.. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the sportsmanlike way to settle things. The candidate that caught the most fish at the end of the week would win the election.

Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice fishing contest between the two candidates to determine the winner.

After much of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest take place on a remote frozen lake in northern Minnesota

There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this isolated lake and return at 5 P.M. with their catch for counting and verification by a team of neutral parties. At the end of the first day, John McCain returned to the starting line and he had ten fish.

Soon, Obama returned and had no fish. Well, everyone assumed he was just having another ‘bad hair’ day or something and hopefully, he would catch up the next day.

At the end of the 2nd day John McCain came in with 20 fish and Obama came in again with none.

That evening, Harry Reid got together secretly with Obama and said, ‘Obama, I think John McCain is a low-life, cheatin’ son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don’t even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see just how he is cheating.’

The next night (after John McCain returns with 50 fish), Harry said to Obama, ‘Well, tell me, how is John Mc. cheating?’

Obama replied, ‘Harry, you’re not going to believe this, but he’s cutting holes in the ice!

Obama got in big trouble when he was in the Illinois Senate for skipping a vote when he claimed his daughter was sick. Of course he was on vacation in Hawaii at the time…. Obama called in sick from Hawaii and used his child as an excuse…So, Sally Quinn can kiss my ever-lovin’ ass.

Obama didn’t help his record in Springfield when he failed to come home from a Hawaiian vacation to vote on the Safe Neighborhoods Act. His vote wouldn’t have made a difference, but Obama’s been a strident supporter of gun control, so a lot of voters thought he’d disappeared when his voice was needed most.

[...]

The Obamas managed to get out of town on Thursday, December 23, and planned to fly back the following Tuesday, so Barack could be in Springfield when the legislature reconvened the next day.

But on the day of the flight, Obama’s 18-month-old daughter came down with the flu. He decided to stay in Hawaii one more day. If Malia seemed to be recovering, the Obamas would go home together. If not, Barack would fly out alone. On Wednesday Malia was well enough to fly, and the family returned to Illinois.

“I made an assessment based on the fact that I didn’t want to leave my wife and daughter alone without knowing how serious her condition was, and my assessment was based on the fact that this was a largely political vote, in the sense that either Pate Philip was going to agree to a compromise, in which case the bill was going to pass, or there were going to be negotiations taking place,” he says.

“We put our families through so many sacrifices in this process anyway that every once in a while you have to make a decision in terms of what you think is best for your family, and I think that this was one of these decisions. Politically, I took a big hit.”

Obama was castigated by the Tribune’s “Inc.” column (the headline: “D-U-M”), and by callers to Cliff Kelley’s show on WVON. He had to answer for his missed vote at a January candidates’ forum in the Tulley Park field house.

“If you initiate a lot of ideas and at the time of a vote you’re not there, how can we count on you?” Kevin Tyler asked.

Obama gave a curt answer. “If you look at my record in Springfield, I don’t miss votes. I missed one as a result of my daughter being sick. That’s an exceptional situation that doesn’t arise often.”

Tyler didn’t buy Obama’s excuse.

Serious damage was done by Obama when he treated Hillary so bad. Flipping her the finger, brushing his shoulder off; also, the MSM and their horrible abuse.

America be proud – we stood up for Sarah Palin against the MSM and Obama. We could not take it anymore.

I saw a report that over 10,000 canceled their subscription to US magazine, and there is a major email/letter campaign to all of the advertisers.

The Democratic Party died under the rule of Howard Dean and Obama. I am truly sorry for that, but I cannot ever call myself a Democrat again.

Yes. The turning point for millions upon millions of women (and some good men) was when Obama went on stage in N.C. day after his pathetic Pa.ABC Debate and starred in this youtube mega hit:

“Obama Gives Hillary the Finger” — like a juvenile rapper-wannabe, using his midfinger, dusting her off his shoulder and scraping her off his shoes as if his fellow female senator were …excrement!

“periodically, HIllary feels down and starts launching attacks at me…”

What a disgusting misogynist pig.

Sarah Palin should rethhink her calling Hillary “whining” and saying “genders not the problem really…some of it you have to take and go on and do your job…it’s not really sexist…” bla bla bla.

Well Sarah baby, how does it feel now to be on the receiving end of Feminism’s glory, eh girl?

Let’s hope Sarah sees the light and doesn’t forget what other women have gone through for Sarah to enjoy the limelight now! She owes Hillary!
\\

And someone send Sarah a copy of Hilary’s Historic Speech in Bejing, ‘95:

“Women’s rights are human rights, and human rights are Women’s rights”

We miss you Hillary! You are the Best! You cared. You were soft. You were tough. You were spunky. You were intelligent. You were Simply the Best for women and children all over the world.

Let’s hope Sarah appreciates Universal Health care. Not every woman is strong enough to become a mayor, a governor and a V-P. the ones who struggle with bad fortune…well…sarah doesn’t see that. Hillary looked far and she could see…

HILLARY – YOU ARE THE BEST!

If it weren’t for you, Sarah would be shooting Moose in Alaska! Thanks!

McCain TV Ratings Beat Obama in Preliminary Numbers
By Andrew Krukowski

Presidential candidate John McCain’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention drew more television viewers than his rival Barack Obama attracted at the Democratic party’s event last week, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

Across all broadcast networks Thursday, Sen. McCain’s speech ended the night with a 4.8 rating/7 share, compared to Sen. Obama’s 4.3/7 average, according to overnight numbers from metered households in 55 U.S. markets measured by Nielsen. These ratings are preliminary, however, and are subject to change.

NBC’s coverage of Sen. McCain’s speech started directly at the tail end of the opening game of NFL season, with the speech pulling in a 6.3 rating/10 share, topping Sen. Obama’s speech last week by 26%. That lead-in may have boosted audiences who last night turned out in droves to watch Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin introduce herself to the country.

ABC’s showing of the McCain speech averaged a 4.5/7, down 2% from the same night of the Democratic convention last week, while CBS’ coverage took in a 3.4/5, an increase of 3%.

If McCain/Palin win, you can bet Palin will do her best to drive out the Dem leadership turds in congress when they come up for re-election…and then Hillary can have a real big laugh.

Maybe a breakaway from the Dem party will still happen. It would take a lot of energy and courage. The Clintons have both.

to those who keep comparing and Hillary and Palin, saying she better respect her. Palin thanked and paid homage to hillary and said she would not be where she is without Hillary(or ferraro).

Now that Hillary is going to attack her for Obama, she does not owe Hillary anything.

Also, someone called me a troll on the last thread. Dissenting opinion is not trolling. I thought we liked this blog and felt different from Obama supporters because we are not sheep?

Look i like hillary alot. But her turning into Obama’s stooge and attack dog is sad. I also think it says alot about who i thought Hillary was.

Again, Bill Clinton made me fall in love with politics and Hillary renewed that passion in me after it had fainted from the last 8 years.
What she is doing now for Obama really says something about who she is.

We can keep playing conspiracy theory about her in 2012. The fact is though, unlike John McCain she did not have the guts to stick it to her party.
She did not fight til the end as she said and now she is towing the line and trying to drag Obama over the finish line.
Country First.sorry you do not like to hear someone tell the truth about reality or how i feel but what she is doing shameful. Also, someone said it correct. “she is no longer fighting for the womens movement. The womens movement is fighting for her.”

Again, call me a republican. I am now. But i was not until a month or so ago. I had been a dem and a loyal clinton supporter. Take off the blinders and see what is really going on. NOT WHAT YOU HOPE is going on.

Comment by ldyoung | 2008-09-05 14:02:14

Hillary is first and foremost a Democrat. Unlike most politicians she is true to her word and, ultimately, to her party. She believes in the ideals she has fought for because she wants what is best for the American people — US! What would people think of her if she abandoned the principles and ideals for which she so bravely fought? The DNC is to blame — not Hillary Clinton. They pushed her out of the race and anointed “the one” unfairly. Let’s not forget that. AND, as others have stated — NO HILLARY equals NO PALIN. Hillary is the one who beat on that hardest, highest glass ceiling so others could break through! I will never forget her — and we will see Hillary again on the national stage fighting once again for us.

Hillary ran as a Democrat. We know it’s the exDemocratic Party and it’s worth garbage for me and you. But to say that Hillary will just drop out of the Democratic Party, forget the debt, forget her standing in it adn just go on CNN and write a Feminists for Palin speech….is ludicrous. Maybe Ludacris will be on Obambis’s ipod with a song to that effect. But i won’t be singing it.

No, Hillary has a job within the Democratic Party that betrayed her. And she has to go through the motions. If you want her to burn herself at the cross be a Joan of Arc for what?

She’s done more for the women in your family and mine than any other damn politico ever did, including Sarah baby who can’t see beyond her eyes the trouble with this country.

Sarah is blind. She doesn’t see we need UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. She doesn’t see that EDUCATION STINKS.
She doesn’t see that America is on the bottom of the heap in INFANT MORTALITY. She doesn’t see that American’s reputation throughout the world becuase of the DAMN REPUBLICANS is shit!

Listen, Paul, lots of things Sarah can’t and will never see as HILLARY did! Okay! Get it through your head.

AND YOU SARAH PALIN, AIN’T NO HILLARY CLINTON.

We’ll help you win the election because as Pumas we want to see Obama HUMBLED and pay for his SEXIST PIG’S WAYS that DIMINISHED HILLARY! That’s all.

But don’t you think for a single minisecond that we don’t think that Sarah can never aspire to the greatness of Hillary. And never will!

Yet Sarah’s a great role model for young girls who see her in a position of power and, hopefully, her positions on social issues will PROGRESS, not further regress!

Sweetie will see the light through the 18 million cracks that will shatter teh DNC ceiling in November–and that’s all my mission will be.

Don’t expect me to be a cheerleader for wire hangers sold in Alaska or for private clinics to proliferate or more trillion-dollar Republican wars in Georgia!

BO preaches the sins of America to guilt people into voting for him because he alone can make the needed changes and give them hope for redemption, while Palin showcases her average family as proof that America is still standing and that Americans can make it through the adversities together. There is no contest. Palin’s message has a fuzzy warmth along with a tough attitude, reminiscent of Reagon, while BO is going down the road of Carter, a do-gooder with ideals but no backbone.

“Who can we nominate for VP who will drive the misogynists nuts?” they asked themselves.

Comment by karen for Clinton (sigh, McPalin now) | 2008-09-05 14:02:25

Susan, I don’t put much weight in polls this early or this close, but there is something electric in the air that isn’t at all fake. The reaction at the convention to her is very similar to the reaction to Bill at the DNC. There was an instant trust in this woman and many have described her as authentic and a natural. YEP!

I’ve been all around the Clinton boards since the announcement of Palin and without exception I find major consensus of opinion from all the old time familiar names. There are attacks from some obots with new names and who have never posted on these sites before pushing the “Palin is no Hillary” and “third party voter” themes.

Well, we Clinton supporters have been through a hell of a lot of twists and turns this year to lead us to our opinions and you obots can’t come close to fooling us.

We’ve watched every pathetic talking point imaginable from the bots and none of them have persuaded us.

Ya see, we know barky, we know him better than his supporters do, and we also know Hillary and what happened to her in detail and vividly.

Out the bots and tell them to shove their chitty candidate back up where the sun don’t shine.

They are trying to divide, it will not work. They are trying to make us feel guilty for supporting the other party, that won’t work either.

Honestly, I fell asleep during McCain’s speech and thought it was boring as hell, but I was able to sleep with the thought of him in charge. If barky got the nod I’d become an insomniac!

Something comforting about Mac, he is an old pair of worn shoes that fit just right and barky is a new pair that rub me in all the wrong places and cause pain.

Also, delighted to hear Hillary will not be doing much for him in the future and will be busy with other more important matters than doing his bidding or the DNC’s.

She knows there will be a GOP White House so she is going to go to bat for the Senators she deems worthy.
I think we would all take a long hard look at any candidates Hillary will chose to support for the Senate.

What a long battle we’ve had. The GOP women are fighting mad at the sexism and were able to hit the ground running. Hillary and her supporters paved the way.

And WE, united, won’t back down. Nobambibiden.

Harriett Christian did an interview with Cavuto saying Mac told the Hillary supporters back in June when they met with him that he was considering Palin. They believed him and he followed through on it.

The ob supporters I personally know are clearly freaking out over her. Some have attacked her in emails with condescending remarks and I blasted the hell out of them.

I won’t stand for it. They have succeeded in making me defend Sarah as fiercely as I did Hillary!

I just read the article in the LA Times on McCain’s acceptance speech, and the headline over the continuation of the lead story on Page 2 was “Crowd Subdued At Times”. I’ve noticed this kind of subtle left-wing bias in the LA Times’ news reporting ever since I’ve been living here in southern California. Of course, they’re a left-wing paper on the Editorial Page, but that’s fine. That’s what the editorial page is for. But more and more, there’s a subtle liberal bias in their news reporting. They’re pretty much like the Associated Press now.

Comment by IndyBoomer | 2008-09-05 18:06:30

I moved to SoCal 2 years ago, and I agree, ever since the LA Times endorsed Bambi before the CA primary, the coverage of anyone else has been nil and shrill. I get so angry. And even on the editorial page, they only print the pro-Dem letters (I know, because they never print mine!) In Thursday’s edition, with a big front page article about Palin’s speech that was positive for a change, I came to the conclusion that Obama’s campaign must be doomed if even the Times had something good to say about her!! :-) :-)

Yes, we have to remember that Hillary is pushing for the down ticket Dems…she has to start builting her base, NOW. She will need this base to clean start the purge of the DNC. So we need to give her that option. She is no dummy. She just has to tone down her attacks on Palin. Give her some leeway, people!

Comment by OBushMA! | 2008-09-05 14:25:08

That’s your problem, not hers. No big Republican politicians came out to defend Hillary, remember that. They were probably laughing at her trouble in private.

It’s not Hillary’s job to defend Palin publicly. That’s the rule of the game. It’s McCain’s job because he selected her. It’s the Republican’s job because she’s one of them. And they are doing fine.

I would add it was Obama’s job to control his lunatic fringe, and he didn’t. It was the Democratic Party’s job to defend Hillary and it didn’t. These are the true culprits. Leave Hillary out of it. She has to campaign for her party, no ifs or buts about it, if she wishes to lead it in the future.

I posted this on an earlier thread but thought this might be a good time to repost it:

Advisers to Mrs. Clinton said that she stood ready to help the Obama-Biden ticket, but they urged the campaign not to overestimate the impact Mrs. Clinton could have, noting that she had other commitments this fall, like campaigning and raising money for Senate candidates.

Hillary’s making it clear that her priority is down-ticket dems – NOT barky. She’s busy raising the money for them that barky promised, then reneged on, after he bribed or forced them into backing him.

After barky loses, Hill’s gonna have a lot more dem friends in Congress than barky or anyone else is – translates to POWER – how ’bout Majority Leader? And 2012 is looking better and better for her.

Comment by OBSP | 2008-09-05 14:40:27

I don’t think Hillary is trying to keep anyone from breaking the glass ceiling before her. We are all forgetting why we are here! It was Hillary who brought us together in the first place — and as I stated before — NO HILLARY/NO PALIN. Hillary is not going to shove aside the ideals she believes are best for America because McCain did what the DNC would not — put a woman on the ticket. If Hillary did not remain true to herself and to us, we would be the first ones to gripe about it. Is that what we expect from her — to be a complete sell-out? If she did that wouldn’t we lose all respect for her? Hillary is doing what she needs to do so that she can run again in four years. I am with Hillary all the way!

I read a blog by a person that worked with Obama at a New York financial newsletter publisher. Obama writes about this in one of his books, but his story was highly embellished. Obama talks about meeting with Bond traders, his reflection in the elevator doors, wearing a sharp suit and holding a briefcase. This was all B.S., he never left the office, never wore a suit, and never talked with Bond Traders. The funny part of the blog was all the co-workers that wrote comments about all the B.S. in Barry’s book. They all thought he was sort of a strange guy.

And, also look at the % of those surveyed who voted for BO during the caucus where he won the majority. Who was surveyed? This numbers are +8 for him at Hotline which brings the average up.

Comment by Paul3triple | 2008-09-05 14:24:14

Hillary may have been scheduled there, but she put out a statement directly after Palin’s speech and that was the first i heard. She is trying to elect Obama. Stop lying to yourself and hoping she has some secret plan. She will run in 2012 if O loses, sure. But she has said and has scheduled rallies to help Obama. It is a fact.
And if she says one thing privately and then parades around USA for Obama i think there is something wrong.
I am not ridiculous. What is ridiculous is to refuse the truth of reality because it does not suit you at this time

Comment by Arabella Trefoil | 2008-09-05 14:38:54

She doesn’t have a secret plan. She’s a politician, she’ll finesse this thing. She is a loyal Democrat and she’ll do what she has to do.

One of the things she has to do is help down-ticket democrats raise money. That might be because, oh Chicago controls the money now.

You obviously don’t know Hillary very well and did not closely follow her campaign like many of us. Hillary is a loyal Democrat who has scruples (imagine that). She will do ONLY what she needs to do for Obama and then she will go about her work in the Senate to help average Americans deal with the mess we are in. As I said before — if you blame anyone, blame the DNC. They mucked up the entire Democratic Presidential primary and handed it on an engraved silver platter to Oblahblah!!!!

The media and the left do not understand what it is about Sarah Palin that connects with regular people. I know several women like her, you all know several women like her. She’s real and honest and tough. She is just what this country has been waiting for.

Having said that, just so you all know, I am a McCain supporter who wasn’t really excited about that vote until now. With Palin’s speech on Wednesday night and then McCain’s speech Thursday night, it makes me extremly hopeful that they are really going to shake things up.

Keep fighting the good fight!

Let’s not go overboard. I’m delighted that Palin has eclipsed BO and she should not be attacked on sexist grounds, but she is, at heart, a hard-right conservative with some pretty objectionable views. Comparing her to Big Dawg is wrong and insulting.

Exactly, the fairy tales about Palin is eclipsing BO’s. They are very much alike, but Palin is reality-based fantasy, while BO is fatansy-based reality. That is, Palin is made of real, tangible stuff but people are making her into an all-purpose goddess. BO is a creature of fantasy from start to finish, but sold to needy liberals as reality. Palin is better but only in comparison to a sham.

I don’t disagree with the rest of your post, but “The Democrats will never give Hillary another chance” is false.

Hillary’s fate rest entirely in her hands, not the Party. This time around, she got fooled by turncoats and backstabbers who thought BO would be shoe-in to win in the GE. If she goes for a next round, she would not make the same mistakes again.

Comment by popularPalin | 2008-09-05 14:53:11

Hillary is done. She did her deed. She ran a great race and won but Obama stole our votes in FL, MI, and every other state. I really don’t know what people are expecting when they talk about Sen Clinton “taking on” Palin. It’s not like they’re going to fight at Madison Square Garden.

If the next several weeks, everybody and their dog will be on TV saying good things about their party and ticket and bad things about the other guys. Sen Clinton will be one of many, and will probably use most her comments to highlight Obama’s positives (what few there are) and McCain and Bush’s negatives, rather than attack Palin specifically.

Comment by bert | 2008-09-05 15:18:28

Excellent comment Tristan. I would add that Hillary will probably be speaking in broad general strokes about the Democratic Party platform and positions. She will not take on Sarah personallu. And if the tables were turned, Palin would go after Hillary. That is politcs folks. Get used to it.

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-05 15:56:11

Hillary is going to make herself look rather foolish, and am sure Palin as smart as she is politically is going to use some of Hillary’s own words back at her.

What is the answer that Hillary will have when Palin points out to her that she did say in the past that Obama only gives good speeches, or that he is not ready to lead.

I still hold the view that Hillary seems to want to do too much for the party maybe she feels she has to at this point, but I do feel she is going to end up hurting her political chances. Palin is no joke she is the real deal, a woman that has sweeping support here and overseas in such a short space of time.

There is something about Palin that is magical and it seems as if many Americans don’t seem to have a problem with having Palin as the first women president, sad to say Hillary once held that distinction but she keeps hanging on to Obama and that is going to be her downfall.

Comment by beebop | 2008-09-05 16:23:06

Palin will NOT take HRC on.

She knows:

1. Who is on the ticket vs. who is not.
2. Who is top, who is second.
3. How many days there are until November 4th.
4. What her job is.
5. Reaching out is not done with a fist or a bitch slap but with an extended hand … please see “join us,” verss “where are they going to go?”

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-05 16:50:59

Palin will not stand there and let Hillary slam Mc Cain or talk foolishness in support of Obama.

Hillary is the one that is going to look like a total idiot, she is coming out now to support the same man that she told the world will not be ready from day one, how in the hell are you ever going to debunk that?

What Obama instantly go the experience to do the job, he instantly got the answers to everything since he dumped Hillary?

Hillary has already started he idiotic talk in No way, no how, no Mcain/Palin, that is the silliest statement of all, for god sakes there is a time in life you have to stand up for something Hillary knows Obama cannot be good for this country and she should do like Bill and step out gracefully until this is all over, I personally would admire her more.

Speech viewership:

Obama: 37.4m for 10 networks
Palin: 37.2m for 6 networks

Gov. Palin had 5m more female viewers than Hillary during her convention speech. McCain’s Hispanic viewership was much higher than Obama’s despite his speech not being carried on two major Hispanic networks. Figures above do not include C-SPAN or PBS.

Yep. There’s just too much still unknown about Sarah Palin to justify anyone being entirely comfortable with her selection yet.

She attended 5 different colleges over a period of 6 years to finally get a BA in journalism. During all that time she seems not to have authored a single article in a single school paper. People are bound to ask some questions about a curious 6-year blank in her personal story.

Then there’s “TrooperGate”, which may be a ticking time-bomb set to detonate sometime in October.

Just how deeply the McCain team really dig? School officials and parties involved in “TrooperGate” are saying no one from the McCain team asked them anything…

Comment by Hillary Dem 4 Sarah | 2008-09-05 16:22:46

I hope Barky makes a point of Palin’s colleges so that we can respond by demanding his records from Columbia and Occidental, as well as his law review article from Harvard. Oh wait, I forgot, he didn’t PUBLISH anything at Harvard despite being president of the law review!

bahahaaahaha

Harry Truman never went to college.

Comment by ziggy | 2008-09-05 16:36:32

Harry Truman was president 55 years ago. The world has changed somewhat since then.

The president of the Harvard Law Review is an executive and editorial position.

Editors of the review–numbering around 50–don’t actually write the publication’s content–they select and edit submissions received from outside contributors.

Comment by beebop | 2008-09-05 16:41:20

So. What is the “budget” for the “business” of the Harvard Business Review? Who loses their job if they go over?

Let me ask you something? Do you really want to compare the freaking HARVARD privileged LAW (as in LAWYERS) REVIEW to a CITY where real, hard working AMERICANS live, work and raise families? This is humor, right?

If this came from the campaign, they are conceding defeat two months out. That I can assure you.

Comment by ziggy | 2008-09-05 17:28:38

No, I wasn’t actually holding president of the Harvard Law Review out as a part of Obama’s experience. I was pointing out that his position there was executive and editorial as opposed to authorial, to explain why the Review contained no articles he had personally written. Writing articles simply wasn’t his job.

If I were making comparisons above, I’d have stuck to a comparison of academic backgrounds. Something tells me that Obama’s academic achievements likely exceed those of the republican vice presidential candidate. We know nothing about hers, however. Only that 6 years and 5 schools is a long way about to a BA degree. There might be a perfectly good explanation. Maybe she just likes frequent changes of scenery. Maybe she couldn’t carry a full schedule of classes because she had to work to pay her way. My only concern has to do with the lack of an explanation. Maybe she’ll rememdy that.

Comment by looking for integrity | 2008-09-05 18:52:52

Maybe she had to work to pay for school and went where the jobs were. Not everyone can afford to go to elite schools.

Comment by athena | 2008-09-05 19:17:00

Writing was also above his pay grade apparently! Bwahahahaha. All Previous President’s of the Harvard Law Review wrote pieces…..Oh that’s right. Barky is “special”

There is no way that Hillary is going to bash Sara Palin. She may campaign for Barry and talk about Repulican policies versus the Dem’s policies, but we know Hillary better than that to play this sexist game that the Barry camp and the Barry media are playing. Hillary is a strong woman and she would never say these horrible things that people are saying about Sara Palin. I am appauled at how people of the media are questioning whether or not Sara is a fit mother let alone a fit VP. My vote goes to McCain/Palin in November. McCain was going to get my vote since Hillary was “unselected” as the nominee, but since he picked Palin, I am actually excited about seeing McCain and Palin win.

“Barack Obama is about as exciting as last year’s fashions, 90% off, at Value Village.”

This is what I overheard today at a pharmacy across the street from Columbia University in NYC: two young women, obviously new students, both sporting big Obama buttons pinned to their shoulder bags, chatting as they waited for prescriptions. One said, “I wish they made these buttons in different colors.” She pointed to her outfit. “You know, so they could MATCH.” The other said, “Really. I mean, like, EVERYONE’S got one like this.”

I am not exaggerating a word of this.

The media got caught with their pants down on this one! Just got to love it!!!
Cindy is at least as qualified as Caroline to vet a VP!

Palin-Mania Sweeping Nation

ANCHORAGE, Sept. 5, 2008

(CBS) There’s a new economic boom in Alaska — and it has nothing to do with oil.

Call it “Palin-mania.”

Companies are cashing in on a new craze sweeping the country sparked by the sudden fame of John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, reports CBS News correspondent John Blackstone.

I’m thrilled with McCain and Palin. I left the Democratic Party and will be voting for a Republican ticket for the first time. From the beginning I ranked the candidates Clinton, McCain. I would have voted for Nader before I voted for Obama. I hope we get a strong Democratic Congress and McCain/Palin in the White House.

I wonder if the company that made the HRC nutcrackers would make an Obama turkey baster! I’d love to hear Keith Olbermann and John Stewart on that little “conversation-making” nick knack….

I also hope that Oprah has taken Michelle out shopping for tiaras just yet. I’ve got a feeling they might have to return them….for store credit.

At least all of you have something in common with Obama
when it comes to policy.

All of you should remember,

-Palin is forcing her daughter to have a child
she does not want.
-Palin called Obama “sambo”.
-Palin supported the brigde to nowhere.
-Palin is anti choice.
-Palin is a racist.
-Palin if for murdering more US Troops.
-McCain used to assault his own wife and children

Barack who?

Comment by Boxer Mum 06 | 2008-09-05 16:52:59

Last night I received my FIRST phone call to participate in a poll regarding politics.

I live in Montgomery County a suburb of Philadelphia and a highly contested place every election.

The poll started out asking what party I belonged to and I said Democrat. The questions started with favorable/unfavorable about Ed Rendell, the PA Democrat party, local politicans .. then threw John McCain in there. .I asked where did that come from, the person said she didn’t know b/c the questions are generated automatically and they don’t control them.

I said extremely favorable. Well, it got interesting from there. It began to smear our local Republican (woman) politican who has been in office since 2000. They all but accused her of killing babies and puppies. It was laughable to the point the woman surveying me was laughing too. T

They said that this incumbent republican woman’s first item after being elected was to overturn R v Wade and make abortions a crime. They also made a point of linking her to ‘George W Bush and Dick Cheney’ .. it was so obvious who was sponsoring this poll it was laughable.

They then went on to ask my opinion of her democrat challenger (man). They made him seem Obama like – he was going to solve every possible issue and even take out my trash :)

After we went through numerous things with those 2 candidates, it went to the Presidental election. Wanted to know if the election were tomorrow, would I vote for McCain or Obama and I answered McCain.

Sorry for the long post but I want everyone to hear that Obama is obviously running scared in PA and seems all his fellow democrats are a bit concerned as well!

PA will be McCain/Palin Country!

And, oh by the way Bambi .. it’s the NITTANY LIONS you fool!

Comment by Artemis | 2008-09-06 14:30:12

I hope you are right about PA going for McCain/Palin.
That would be such a wakeup call to the Democratic Party. Assuming to own anyone’s votes as the Democratic leadership has done regarding PA is extremely arrogant. Pride comes before the fall, right?

In short, Obama is no longer, to most Americans, a fresh and unique figure in U.S. politics. And, with the ho-hum choice of Joe Biden as his running mate, he further dampened the flames of enthusiasm and passion for him as an iconic, singular figure of fresh hope.

He’s never been anything more than the left wing version of Bush to me. Just another asshole peddling snake oil.

Comment by DancingOpossum | 2008-09-05 17:03:28

OT

The thought of a possible election of John McCain and Sarah Palin has given me hope for America. I know we live in perilous times, I know too if they are leading our country that they would fight with everything they have to preserve and improve our country. The putting aside party to come together by the people here, and elsewhere, in order to defeat corruption gives me hope as well.

It is too soon to be elated. The caucus fraud showed us how dirty it will be. The attacks on Sarah are outrageous. They are now digging into her colleges.

Let us all pray in our own way for protection for John and Sarah. Washington doesn’t want to get shaken up. But lets do our part to insure that it happens.

Comment by Steve | 2008-09-05 17:33:38

I look forward to Obama getting beaten and I am happy for Sarah Palin to be quite popular. Nevertheless, I would prefer Senator Clinton for President and based on a Rasmussen poll, she would beat Palin easily. She would beat Obama easily. She would beat McCain easily.

Sad thing is that you can count on Democrats to spoil their own party… :-(

Comment by ldyoung | 2008-09-05 18:37:27

This hype from BO’s team about what a great guy Biden is while Palin isn’t, because she doesn’t agree with all of their views, has one huge problem–Biden. He is not a great guy. Remember he is the one who allowed Clarence Thomas to get on the Supreme Court, because he cut off testimony from women who were ready to corroborate Anita Hill’s claims. (See “Strange Justice.”) Also NARAL has ranked Biden 37% on his voting record in support of pro-choice issues. Finally, Delaware is so favorable in its policies and laws for corporations that it is one of the most polluted states in the country and many, many corporations have their headquarters in Delaware to take advantage of the pro-business, anti-worker laws.

I’m sick of the smears from such obviously second-rate people and political servants as Obama and Biden.

I disagree with positions held by McCain and Palin, but I’m supporting them because they actually have done something to stop all the corruption and influence by lobbyists that has cost our government so much money and robbed us of good representation. They have acted responsibly and like mature adults….

Remember it is a Democrat, Chris Dodd, who is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. It is he who has refused to investigate hedge funds and he has not reigned in credit card companies or supported consumer rights in the bankruptcy laws and other issues that have cost some people to commit suicide, not to mention lose all of their life-savings and homes….

Just happened to have an appointment today with my eye doctor so I could not resist asking about Sarah Palin style frames. The gal who does the frame orders did not know what I was talking about at first but they she got it and said she was going to look into it for me. Frames are about $375 plus prescription lenses; she said a pair would be about $700. I forgot the name of the maker but I believe it was European. FYI.
