So, Attacking Palin Makes Sense? UPDATED
By Larry Johnson on September 6, 2008 at 6:41 PM in Current Affairs
Let me state at the outset that I like Sarah Palin because she has shown the ability to take on entrenched interests–the Republican Party of Alaska and the Oil and Gas Industry. Her social conservatism is irrelevant to me. Why? Because she has demonstrated that her priority is fixing government waste and abuse rather than focusing her energies on bedroom or pecker politics. We have had eight years of a Republican frat boy President, a Skull and Bones kind of dude, who talked a good game but when it came to acting on behalf of the people of this country he punted and did a fair share of pandering to special interests. Nor am I arguing that Republicans should be in control of the Congress. Candidly, Republicans and Democrats have both been awful on this front.
Sarah Palin’s vagina and ovaries are not relevant factors to whether she is qualified or not to be President in the event McCain falls over like Fred Sanford. Similarly Barack Obama’s skin color is neither a qualifying or disqualifying factor. The issue is simple–of all the people involved in this Presidential campaign who has actually taken on and defeated special interests? John McCain, at least on campaign finance and immigration, has shown a willingness to fight his party’s entrenched specials interests. And Palin’s record is clear. Can you cite just one example of Obama or Biden doing the same? This is an honest request. While Obama portrays himself as “Mr. Change” he is only good at changing his mind on things he said he once believed (e.g., fisa, public financing of elections, withdrawal timetable for Iraq, etc.) How about Biden? Does his backing of Clarence Thomas count as “taking on entrenched interests?”
So check out these competing views. Let’s start with the Democratic side of the ledger. Did you see this?
Bonnie Fuller at Huffington Post published a piece with the title, Sarah Palin Dissed John and Sam Adams, Ben Franklin, the Original George W. and the Rest of the Founding Fathers! You have got to be shitting me. I thought this was a joke at first. Surely she was writing tongue in cheek? Nope. Bonnie states:
It’s amazing what a group of highly motivated community organizers did over 230 years ago. So what’s so bad about a presidential nominee today starting his activist career this way? And hey Sarah, isn’t the PTA one of the most effective community organizations in the country? Isn’t that where you got your start?
And now to touch on a theme that has been a biggie in this election — it certainly appears that the Founding Fathers didn’t have a whole lot of “experience” in running a country before they took on the task of launching and then governing the newly-born America. This should give comfort to both Governor Palin and Senator Obama, each of whom has come under some pretty heavy fire for their lack of longterm “executive” experience.
Then there’s the battle over which candidate is more “typical” or “relatable.” Sarah Palin wants us electorate to feel chummy with her because she’s a small-town hockey mom. She mentioned the term “small town” four times in her vice-presidential acceptance speech the other night. The only problem is that she doesn’t seemed to notice but most Americans today do not live in small towns anymore. We live in cities, there are no corn fields in our back yards and that trend shows no signs of reversing.
When I suggested to one of my more “progressive” (i.e., ultra liberal) friends that the Dems were making a mistake attack Palin instead of going after her on the issues, especially given her broad popularity in Alaska, he wrote:
Funny, I’m hearing the exact opposite.
Sounds like 78% is pretty good as I’m sure she has only one way to go…… down.
Sorry LJ, I’m not buying it. Neither is Hillary. In the end, neither will the majority of Americans. The number of Dem’s registering to vote is overwhelming, Palin is of little consequence now, just a show to shore of the religious loony right and the rush lambast crowd.
This country is so moving on… The reign of lies, deceit pushed by these clowns is oh so over.
Maddow nails it….
My friend is referring to Maddow on Countdown where she accuses the Republicans of lying about Barack but fails to surface a single example of such lies. (You can see the video clip here.) For example, the Republicans are lying, says Maddow, when they say Obama has not penned a single piece of major legislation. Okay, name the legislation? . . . .waiting . . . . waiting Oh, and doing something for the Republic of the Congo does not count. Republicans are also lying per Rachel about Barack’s plan to raise taxes. Well, the fact of the matter is that Obama is only going to raise taxes on Americans who most folks consider rich. But that’s not lying.
What about reaching across the aisle? Well, when it comes to lying it looks like that turd hangs around Barack’s neck. Barack had promised John McCain help in sponsoring legislation on lobbying reform. And who flip flopped? You got it–Barack Obama. According to McCain’s letter:
Dear Senator Obama:
I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere. When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership’s preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable. Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions. I’m embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble. Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won’t make the same mistake again.
You can read the rest here. And Obama lied his ass off to Rick Warren a month ago when he claimed:
WELL, I’LL GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE THAT IN FACT I WORKED WITH JOHN MCCAIN ON AND THAT WAS THE ISSUE OF CAMPAIGN ETHICS REFORM AND FINANCE REFORM. THAT WASN’T PROBABLY IN MY INTEREST OR HIS FOR THAT MATTER BECAUSE THE TRUTH WAS BOTH DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS OR OF LIKE THE STATUS QUO AND I WAS NEW TO THE SENATE AND IT DIDN’T NECESSARILY ENGENDER A LOT OF POPULARITY WHEN I STARTED SAYING YOU KNOW WE’RE GOING TO ELIMINATE MEALS AND GIFTS FROM CORPORATE LOBBYISTS.
So what are my Republican friends saying. Specifically I asked my friend about the status of the “whitey” tape. He shared the following:
I will tell you exactly what they are waiting for. You may not like the
answer, but here it is.The McCain bunch are, if nothing else, cool, calculating customers. Something happened over the last week that they were not expecting, and that something indicates that they need to go against their emotional and combative instincts, steel themselves and bring their unemotional objectivity to bear. That’s why an attack hasn’t started yet, at least an attack in earnest. The IDB article that I sent you was obviously a plant from oppo research to a very select target, but stuff like this is all that is going to happen until they see which way the indicators are going. That won’t happen until next Tuesday or Wed at the earliest.
This week’s convention caught even the most true believing of Repub operatives totally by surprise. They were not expecting Sarah to have the effect that she apparently has had across not only Republicans, but across a broad swath of independents. Their internals are telling them that she is, by far, the most popular individual on either ticket across the board. It is further telling them that there is considerable backlash among both independent men and women to the attacks against Sarah that have been mounted by the MSM as well as Obama and his surrogates. Every time they attack Sarah, they are in effect losing support in a demographic where they desperately need support.
They were not expecting last night’s speech to have the effect that it had as McCain is generally considered to be a poor platform speaker. I listened to his speech on XM as I was driving up the coast and then stopped for a cup of coffee at a McDonald’s about 70 miles south of my house in the heart of a very liberal university town whose four year student population has been used as a tool by Democrats to dominate the county government for decades. The McDonald’s had McCain on a widescreen TV, and he was just finishing his speech with the story of how he had been transformed from a swaggering Naval Aviator who cared only for himself into a man who was dedicated to his country and his fellow citizens after the North Vietnamese broke him in interrogation. The entire McDonald’s–liberal students, older workers just getting off of the late shift, McDonald’s staff, and assorted other customers–were riveted in front of the TV with tears streaming down their faces. This is a place where have of the hamburger and French fry preparers hardly speak English, and where half of the student customers were wearing Obama buttons as the balled their eyes out. The dominating visual that I take from that crowd was a young female student uncontrollably raining tears on her Obama campaign button as she listened to McCain. If I could have figured out a way to shoot that on my cellphone, I would be winning YouTube prizes right now.
Overnight internal polling now shows McCain ahead of Obama, but still well within the margin of error. The normal practice is not to believe the polling until it has run for three nights after the defining event, in this case, last night.
But there is another defining event that is going to occur Monday, Tuesday and Wed of next week, and that is O”Reilly’s one on one with Obama. Repubs have the tape, and O’Reilly wiped the floor with Obama. He comes off as petulant, whiny, and inexperienced, blaming every one else for “not listening to what I said” whenever he changed his position. O”Reilly was civil, but he made the guy look like what he is: not ready for President.
With the nation appearing to love Sarah, and now kind of by inclusion McCain, and hating people who attack them, it would be counterproductive to launch an attack campaign until they get the polling that will not be available until at least Tuesday, at the earliest, to see which way the wind is really blowing. If this shows a bounce for McCain of better than or equal to Obama, even if it is still within the margin of error, they will re-evaluate and wait for the effect of O”Reilly’s show (remember, O’Reilly has the largest audience by far for that type of show). If they get a bounce off of O’Reilly, then they will re-evaluate again.
They do have some incredible oppo dirt on Obama and Michelle. Depending on how things are going at the end of next week, if it looks like attacking might gain them support, they will start rolling some of this stuff out so that it can be used in sound bites by the candidate in the debates on an audience that has already been factually prepped with background data by the ads. The feeling is that if Obama can be provoked to melt down in a mano a mano debate, which is his weakest format, that will probably be the ball game.
Here is the feeling of one contact of mine. “We have seen the worst that they can throw at us and appear to have withstood it relatively unscathed. We have a whole arsenal to throw at Obama, and they don’t have a clue to what we may or may not have. All they know is that they have a bottomless pit of revelations to worry about.”
I think that pretty much sums it up.
So, there you have the latest as I know it.
UPDATE: Thanks to one of our commenters, another smear debunked, courtesy of Michelle Malkin I think.
Palin Derangement Syndrome strikes again.
This time it’s hysterical librarians and their readers on the Internet disseminating a bogus list of books Gov. Sarah Palin supposedly banned in 1996. Looks like some of these library people failed reading comprehension. Take a look at the list below and you’ll find books Gov. Palin supposedly tried to ban…that hadn’t even been published yet. Example: The Harry Potter books, the first of which wasn’t published until 1998.
The smear merchants who continue to circulate the list also failed to do a simple Google search, which would have showed them that the bogus Sarah Palin Banned Book List is almost an exact copy-and-paste reproduction of a generic list of “Books Banned at One Time or Another in the United States” that has been floating around the Internet for years. STACLU notes that the official Obama campaign website is also perpetuating the fraud. And it’s spread to craigslist, where some unhinged user is posting images likening Palin to Hitler. Here it is again.
The person who first spread the Palin smear is identified as “Andrew Aucoin,” a commenter on the blog of librarian Jessamyn West. West has done the right thing in keeping the bogus comment up and pointing out in her main post that “there appears to be no truth to the claim made by the commenter, and no further documentation or support for this has turned up.”
These rumors are going to continue backfiring.

Oblowme’s campaign has dispatched 20 or so operatives to Alaske to dig up dirt on Palin.
Shouldn’t this money be spent to other democrats needing financial help with their elections? In all those poor, downtrodden areas he keeps talking about?
Well, since “there’s no blacks in Alaska”, they better send in the white operatives. What a load of hooey.
If Obama and his butthole buddies think they can step into the Wild, Wild Out There and intimidate anyone, I recommend getting one of those doggy ID chips stuck into you somewhere so they can figure out which bear to shoot after its over. There won’t be enough left to weigh.
I am convinced these spoiled little children think they’re tough. Their hero, Bill Ayers, always was into that manly art of attack, the delayed bomb.
It is only our civility and a belief in the system which lets them persist at this and they are too stupid to know it.
One day it might be necessary to take away all their toys and send ‘em to bed with no dinner!
very true… and well said…
a. hillary
b. mccain
america first!
Maybe they’ll just lull the bears into hibernation with one of those sleep-inducing monotonous speeches their fearful leader is known for.
Possibly… but there’s always that pre-nap snack to worry about!
Chuckle
I guess the entitlement fools think they can dig up gossip on another world leader somewhere, and that will make them back off, insane.
Here is just another example of the great one Palin:
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/06/palins-church-promoting-conference-aimed-at-converting-gays/
I am a Hillary supporter. Never will I vote for 4 or God forbid 8 years of the same garbage we have had.
I would like to see the same examination of Palin and McCain that everyone on this site did of Barky. Can we please have some truth? They are all smarmy politicians. What’s the old saying? You can put lipstick on a pig and it is still a pig.
No it now goes like this: You can dress up the Democratic nominee in a cheap suit, lead him around the country to bray a lot, and call him presidential material but he’s still a jackass.
That’s the best quote I’ve heard all day, Ferd!
Are you saying that sitting in a church for 6 yrs automatically means you agree with everything your church/pastor does/says? Huh – are you sure you want to do down that road considering Obama’s 20+ year with his “uncle,” Jeremiah Wright and TUCC? With TUCC’s connection to Farrakhan and Hamas?? REALLY??
And while I am certainly not happy that ANYONE would attend a place of worship that does not accept people fully for who they are, again, Palin isn’t criss-crossing a state with these people. Remember, that is EXACTLY what Obama did when he took the formerly gay but now “CURED” Donnie McClurkin who is ACTIVELY anti-gay all around SC. And Obama counts as one of his closest friends and advisors, State Senator James Meeks, who is also an actively anti-gay minister.
I, for one, have never said I was voting for McCain/Palin. I am definitely NOT voting for Obama, though. I think many of us, after witnessing the Swiftboating of John Kerry, want to make sure that the attacks on Palin are not just visious rumors started by the likes of MoveOn, or sexist diabtribes abt how she should be at home with the children. We want to actually deal with her policies/ideology, and have to weed through all the crap to get there.
And if we didn’t vet Obama, NO ONE would. Given how he got his nomination, he SHOULD have been vetted by the DNC and the MSM, but they failed miserably in their duties. He is unqualified for the post, IMHO.
no, you idiot. there is still so much to investigate abaout obama…
palin and mccain are known. get over it troll.
and no, you are not and never were an HRC supporter.
i told you they would stop saying “Hillary Follower” and start saying “Hillary Supporter” to sound less cult like.
But you’ll vote for 4 years of Black Liberation Theology?!?
Eeeek!
Brushing Hillary off the bottom of his shoe was a symbolic gesture of BLT ideology.
No thanks!
Do you people ever stop spreading lies?
And last time I checked, this country has supported over 400 years of White Liberation Theology. Stop bitching.
Why do you hate Barky, he’s half white ya know.
Yes, he is half-white, but the world views him as a black man, and he identifies as such.
No the rest of the world sees him as a joke. Putin can’t wait to get his teeth into him.
No, the rest of the world wants him to win.
There are more people in the world who look like Barack Obama than look like John McCain.
NO the rest of the world wants HIM to LOSE!!!!That’s for sure
The world wants Obama to lose? Is that why hundreds of thousands of people came to watch him speak during his overseas visits?
Is that why he’s been on the covers of foreign newspapers since he announced he was running for president?
It is a FACT that Sen. Obama has gotten more positive response overseas than John McCain.
When has John McCain ever been able to draw a crowd of 200K? Oh, that’s right, NEVER.
But that many people came to see Obama’s speak in Berlin.
crystal there was a FREE rock concert in Germany by one of their most popular groups, oh that’s right the media didn’t let you in on that, did they.
Are you positing that a free rock concert was responsible for drawing 200 THOUSAND people, not just from Germany, but from all over Europe? I don’t think so.
Those people were holding OBAMA signs, they were chanting OBAMA’s name, they had paited OBAMA’s name on their faces.
They were there for OBAMA.
It’s a damn shame they can’t vote for him.
And the 200,000 attendee figure has been disputed.
White Liberation Theology = funny.
I view him as the One.. The Messiah Lord Barack Hussien.
I’m not complaining about Europeans establishing the USA and building it into the best country in the world in a very short time period. If fact I am grateful for what they have done.
That was Ann Richards who famously said, “You can put lipstick on a pig and call it Lurlene… ” and Sarah Palin was paying her homage with her pitbull joke. The crowd loved it, and I think she is a bit like the famous Texas governor.
YES…that’s who she reminded me off..
GOD HOW I WISH Anne was still with us. She would have raised holy hell about this primary!
I miss our Ann Richards.
I was as if Palin channeled her spirit during her speech.
i despise bush no doubt. i won’t vote for obama. i will vote for mccain because i consider him the most dangerous candidate in my lifetime. if i vote for a 3rd party i feel i am helping obama. don’t make that mistake. a number made it when bush was first elected. i won’t apologize or feel i have to defend my decision to anyone. i understand your feelings and share many of them. but letting obama anywhere near the wh is absolutely critical.
Seasiren,
You may be relieved to know that …Bush is not running this year!
Armed with that knowledge, please feel free to judge the current candidates based their own positions.
Remember, an ideologue is an asshole…
As an aside, weren’t you in the Coast Guard?
And what happened to Taylor Marsh! Migod what a mess she’s become. What a total sellout. Disgusting.
They’re digging up dirt NOW? What the hell? Now we know why their first attacks on Palin seemed so reactionary and ill advised…THEY WERE! I’ll bet you dollars to donuts the republicans have had a file on Obama since before he spoke at the 2004 convention. Christ, Obama wants to be president and go head to head with Putin? Uff. I wonder if Obama knows Putin already has info on him.
Don’t you just love how when it is supposed to be McCain vs. Obama, Obama’s campaign is making it all Obama vs. Palin? These people are not very bright! Not that that is a surprise, but duh! If I were an advisor to Obama (not that I’m any expert mind you, these are just my opinions), I would try to get the focus off of Palin because she is very popular and the attacks just keep her in the spotlight. It would be better to let her fade into the background. Also to keep harping on her possible shortcomings, like perceived lack of experience and her youth, it only magnifies that Obama has those issues. Duh! What a bunch of idiots. I hope they are not getting paid much! Well, as a McCain supporter I do. Go waste that money Barky! How stupid. Obama is melting like the he was sprinkled with holy water and I love that he is the only one who has weakened his position so far. I am really going to enjoy watching McCain finish him off!
McCain and Sarah are a new twist on good cop/bad cop. McCain looks the toughie but comes off all positive. Sarah looks the Sweetie and chews off Obama’s nuts. The Obama people don’t know what to do, which way to turn.
And that impresses you?
yeah
It impresses me .
StrawberrybitesBarky; 1980 is about how far back they go.
There is an advantage that 8 years of overt and covert intel ops on domestic targets by the current administration. Carl Rove’s best friends know a great deal about BO and where he fits in to the Combine. I have said once and I will say it again, all the Blackberry’s in DC and Chicago are filtered.
They are playing for keeps and BO and Axelrod do not have this level of access. Does BO not understand this?
What kind of war is Obama not winning in Chicago? Deaths up 18% from 2007.
Here is a real headliner: There were 125 gun shot death in Chicago this summer 2008 nearly twice as many gun shot deaths than in Iraq during the same time frame.
http://cbs2chicago.com/local/chicago.summer.shootings.2.810166.html
Total of 2,145 deaths in the city of Chicago since 2002.
I read about this. My friend sent this to me, and I was stunned. How can Obama handle foreign affairs if his state Senate district has all these deaths? Obama’s leadership is a failure.
Did you know that Gaza Strip is one half the size of the City of Chicago?
He has enough experience to run an Islamic Terrorist Enclave.
Why that’s comparable to the number of wolves killed in Alaska over the same time period.
I donate to that charity, and it’s nothing to joke about. I know Sarah Palin hunts even in airplanes, but aerial shooting of wolves is nothing to joke about… not to mention nothing compared to Obama’s BAIPA vote.
Gun control, anyone?
Not anymore, after the Obama thugs threatened violence if he did not get the nomination i saw what all the 2nd amendment supporters have been talking about all these years. I guess you can say I flip-flopped on that issue
yea and Chicago is arming their police force of 13,500 with assault rifles. It’s just the Chicago way eh? These are scary times.
McCain/Palin 2008
America First
Well maybe they are going to shooting wolves as Palin does. Oooops sorry they are humans not wolves.
Please explain by your logic how Senator Obama is single-handedly culpable for a rise in crime in Chicago?
I know no logic is involved but, let me have my fun.
Wikipedia: Straw Man Argument
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyrMS6MBuSg
scary, isn’t it. i thought the crime rate was bad when i lived in Tampa, FL. just think, if Obama wins, all of america could start to look like chicago, or maybe afghanistan. and don’t even go there with the race card; i’m talking about total disfunctionality of society and government that seems to go hand in hand with people who support obama.

Gretas Story on Fox right now about Sarah Palin is Interesting…Fox News..
Its sure Wonderful to see News Coverage about a A Woman and Mother who is Decent..a Good Mother and uses her Intelligence in a Useful way..Thank You sarah Palin for a refreshing Break from Britney Spears and Paris Hilton..
God Bless Sarah Palin and her family…
The melt down can`t come soon enough.
Harp — Obama did a town meeting today and a woman asked him about the economy — he said that’s tough question because there are so many way to answer it. Then things deteriorated from there — Obama was unable to answer any question put to him. Sarah Palin boned up in one weekend on everything McCain stood for. Obama has had 20 months and he still can’t speak without a teleprompter.
ROFLMAO
It’s obvious the media and Obama thought they had this thing in the bag- and out pops Sara-ccuda!
Is there a clip anywhere? I’d love to pass that one around!
george w bush boned up too. Look where that has gotten us. Make no mistake, mccain/palin = gwb.
Nope. OBH=AAGWB. You want to replace an ignorant, arrogant ignoramus with another one. I’ve seen that picture and it was a dog.
Pathetic!!! No the frigg*n TRUTH is this one BO=GWB Too bad for you.
Austan Goolsbee is also Skull & Bones
http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/21789
Mr. NAFTA. I’d almost forgotten about him.
Palin has an 80% approval. What is obama approval in Chicago? That’s really all that matters…
Excellent, as usual, Larry!
Obama is a VERY desperate shell of a man. His support is tanking becuase America is on to his hoddwinking and BS and we know that Sarah palin and John McCain are running to help America! Obama is running to help himself! Big difference!
Obama wants women to give him their money and time and vote as long as he can keep them on the bench. That’s not change. That’s an a$$hole.
I’m so proud to see women standing up to Obama and giving him the middle finger with their vote and support of McCain-Palin in 2008!
It is going to be great when Obama and his band of elite back stabbing sexist thugs are kicked back to Chicago where they belong.
No Way!
No How!
NOBAMA!
That feels great to type it and say it! gives me a tingle up my leg, too!
Get. Over. It. Obama. And. All. You. Obamabots.
America is not buying what you are selling!
This proud Democrat is voting Country First!
John and Sarah ‘08
Hillary ‘12
Obama’s hit job continues — Geraldo just had a woman on from Alaska who really like Palin but she can’t vote for her because she doesn’t agree with her policies and that’s what really important. Get the not so subtle message here. All Hill Dems its ok to like Palin but you should think about where she stands on issues.
I’m sure if enough money is tossed around someone is bound to take it.
Did you see how angry she was before she spoke. What the heck was thta all about? It didn’t seem to go with the video or topics that were being discussed at the time.
Sorry s. hall we don’t support corruption from our party as we didn’t from the republicans. Palin isn’t the one going to be signing law, McCain is and he has proven he respects women far more than obama and the dnc.
Larry: Outstanding info, thank you, I hope this comes to pass. I talked today with a very close friend of mine who works with the Obama camp on occasion (because his organization endorsed him) and they (Obama camp) are fully and completely confident that they have this election won. They believe that the polls are wrong because Obama users have cel phones. I laughed so hard that he was offended, and he usually isn’t.
The one thing I told him that made him turn pale was simple: “I have two simple words for you…Steve Schmidt.” He turned pale and there was no laughter. He’s on the inside in DC and he understands fully the implications of what I said.
Let’s hope…(wow, I just used that word!!!).
Patrick
Steve Schmidt?
He’s the emerging “Karl Rove”.
Hehe!
He was the swift boat maestro, no?
No, Steve Schmidt is McCain’s Senior Advisor, the one calling the shots, even over the Campaign Manager. It was when he took over McCain’s campaign that it finally started catching fire.
I hear you, Patrick! My neighbors are beside themselves with joy “knowing” Obama will win.
However, as a Republican I know something they obviously don’t understand…Republicans.
————-
Greta’s show is on!
Hi chick — We are going to do this for McCain and Palin.
HOWEVER – it’s not the polls and ads that count – but the number of people who vote!
And Dems are outpacing Repubs in voter registration!
Gaza youth, felons, and miracle voters, risen again? gottcha
Yeah, like Republican voters don’t have cell phones too.
I know…i laughed so hard. I just don’t GET the need to fool oneself. I mean, I know McCain is on a roll, but I do NOT feel safe in the knowing. Anything can happen and a false sense of security is deadly.
Take care,
Patrick
For those of you who are wondering who the heck Schmidt-y is:
If you think for one minute that the are not prepared to play this chess game to the bitter end…
think
Axelfraud and Poufey boy
vs
Rove and Schmidt
Yeah
Game On.
Toastbama.
As my Grandad used to like to whisper to me when my Grandma wasn’t nearby, that plan has as much chance of success as a one legged man in an ass kickin’ contest.
It comes down to understanding things more clearly now.
We have given these punks every chance to do this fairly and honorably and they have cheated.
We will not be fooled again, nothing can be said or done to change our position.
We will prevail because we know there is no tomorrow if Obama wins.
If anyone in my part of Washington State (Tacoma area) has any concerns about being intimidated at the polls, I will assist you to and from.
Perhaps we should start preparing logistics for this, nationwide… it is do-able.
What do ya’ think?
Yes, the only way Obama can walk away with this election is if his OBrown Shirts control the voting sites—and it will only take a few states to do this, mainly Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Colorodo.
I see you have forgotten the 2000 Election and Florida.
Remember the Brownshirts the republicans turned out to ensure the recount went the way they wanted?
You think they aren’t energized enough now to counter Obama?
hah…trust me they are planning to make sure that every move Obama makes they are ready to counter. This election and the results will be the most carefully monitored by the republicans in history.
trixta — and what will the Republicans do — just let Obama’s people walk all over them — not a snowball’s chance in hell of that happening.
Yes, the sites and the machines. I sure hope the Reps are prepped for this.
After the rnc fascist freakshow in Minn you’re calling obama brownshirts? Larry, where do you get these people?
Hey, where you bin, zeke? Called anybody a coward lately? Course when that’s all you got, guess you can’t be helped?
Wassup there chickenshit? Still afraid of God?
I agree. We need to meet our Supervisors of Elections, town by town. Ask about becoming poll workers or watchers. Get signs asking people to avoid electronic voting machines. Ask the S of E how they vet absentee voter or any voter registrant. Volunteer to take people to the polls. Lets take back America one town at a time.
McCain/Palin 2008
America First
We can compare experience with that match up, too. I am sure those Chicago boys think they are really tough and in Chicago they probably evoke fear, but Rove and now it sounds like Schmidt have Washington experience. I think that is like the difference between the owner of the Baseball team and the ticket office salesperson as far as knowing what is going on.
I’m always dumbfounded that people are still buying that cell phones users don’t get polled BS. Polling organizations don’t call out of the dang phone book, area codes and the first 3-digits of phone numbers are fixed and they use random generators to get the last 4 numbers. Their as likely to reach a cell phone, or Vonage as a land line.
what does this comment have to do with Sarah allegedly being a “maverick” I want to see her verbally pivot and start demanding accountability in regard to the last eight years. Get going Sarah. Start with the false intelligence then move to the outing of one of Larry’s friends Valerie Plame if your such a fucking maverick get going Sarah
Your wrong and these voters will tip the scale
What has Obama done to hold Bush accountable? NOTHING
Did Obama investigate the outing of Plame? NO
Did Obama investigate Rezko? NO
Did Obama decry Daley’s corruption? NO
Obama is not a maverick. Similar to you, he is a mindless Democratic Party hack.
God Damn Michelle Obama After 20 months Obama still can’t answer questions at a town hall meeting. It was on NPR that he made a fool of himself.
If Obama got in who exactly would be running this country? Cause he is clueless.
I agree with “God Damn Michelle Obama”.
Obama likes to claim he has 4 years in the U.S. Senate…sounds better than “Uhhh, ummmm, I began running for President after serving only 143 days in the U.S. Senate.”
But Obama is the one who claims those years,so…what did OBAMA, your big CHANGE agent, actually DO, J?
On all those issues you mentioned – WHAT DID OBAMA DO ABOUT THEM? Absolutely NOTHING.
Both McCain & Palin actually have REAL, LEGIT records of ACTIONS they have taken which have resulted in true change.
Obama’s record? Just words.
the Republican party is parading Palin as a “maverick” Prove it. She should pivot and go after the Bush administration. Walk her talk. Obama has never called himself a “maverick”
Sweetie, don’t know if you know how to read a comment thread or not, but here’s a refresher:
go to the first comment in the thread (from Patrick) and read it and you will see what my comment is referring to. Jeesh, you guys are remedial…I thought you were all so blog savvy.
J, it is you’re not your.
BTW, what about Pelosi and her do-nothing Congress? Why haven’t they done anything since 2006? Pelosi said impeachment was off the table and passed the FISA bill. Now Palin is supposed to fix this Democratic mess? Give me a f…g break!
Just like the Bush administration never answer the question
J,
Does taking on the corruption within her own party in Alaska count as evidence of her being a maverick? If not, what do you mean by “maverick?”
SM
The cellphones throwing off the polls thing sounds like Ron Paul supporters.
LOL!!
Bonnie Fuller fails to realize how powerful the “Bubba vote” was to Hillary. Obama’s momentum stopped shortly after the Rev. Wright video footage was aired on the networks. Hillary crushed Obama in states such as West Virginia, Penn State and so forth. Bonnie Fuller has a classic case of tunnel vision which will bite the democrats in the ass much later on.
Hillary has proven to the democrat world what McCain’s strategy was going to be with regard to his experience and patriotism angle because SHE KNOWS JOHN MCCAIN! She’s friends with him. Disorganized Dean and the like would be “damned” to allow Hillary to eventually be put in a position, and why? Because Dean, Gore, and Kerry all lost their campaigns and it would hurt their egos to see Hillary take the POTUS position in my view.
This is exactly why I, as a former Democrat, support McCain and Palin. They have genuinely shown themselves to be reformers. They are the genuine articles. Obama only plays that role on TV, in real life he is a corrupt status quo pol.
Palin’s choice, moreover, shows an amazingly nuanced (quality on which allegedly Obama had a monopoly) view of the world and solid judgment. McCain could not have made a better choice. And, really, when is the last time that a VP pick up-ended an election like this?
McCain’s pick also shows him to be comfortable in the presence of someone who has the potential to overshadow him. It shows maturity. Obama has shown none of these things. Thus, overall,I feel very comfortable with the idea of McCain as president, regardless of our policy differences.
I agree very much. Watch John McCain at all his appearances with Sarah Palin. Watch his reaction when she gets her thunderous ovations. He beams from ear to ear…and it is the genuine smile of a happy man. Happy not because he feels she gives something TO him, but happy because he is doing something FOR her. He sees in her the future of his party and he stands aside to let her receive all the praise she deserves…
Take care,
Patrick
Well, I don’t know. I think he’s just happy either way.

Please. McCain is grinning ear-to-ear because, like a simple child, he’s pleased with himself for having pleased other people. He (or more likely those with the real power pulling the strings behind him) did the right thing (even if for purely manipulative reasons) by selecting a genuine person in Sarah Palin.
Pleasing others and being happy to please others is very telling of Mr. John McCain. It means that McCain is ready to be a servant to the American people. He is ready on DAY ONE.
No, it means he’s a politician willing to do whatever it takes to win an election. McCain has never struck me as a warm, genuinely-caring individual towards the common (or even uncommon) man, and neither is his ice queen who’s so fragile her arm is in a sling after someone shakes her hand. Neither he nor that idiot Obama and his supremely-egotistical wife care about serving the American people. Admit it, the 2008 presidential election is a no-win situation. We get crap no matter which way it ends up.
Sorry, but the idealism of my youth has faded to extreme pessimism. We don’t have a two-party system…it’s one fucked-up entrenched bureaucracy with Democrats and Republicans in name-only. They talk a good game, but they are one and the same.
I would hardly call Cindy McCain an ice queen. She devotes a huge amount of time and energy to Operation Smile and other charitable organizations.
Boudica, John McCain has spent his life in service to his country. What have you done for your country?
Let’s see…faithfully paid my full-share of taxes, volunteered for numerous community organizations including one right now focused on revitalizing my neighborhood, spent my entire adult life as a university professor educating future citizens of this country, among other things. I’ve received a citizenship award from the American Legion and attended my state’s Girls State while in high school. I give generously to charitable causes and just last week stopped to help a woman change her flat tire. Shall I go on?
Just because my service isn’t recognized on a broader national stage doesn’t make it any less valuable than John McCain’s so don’t try and use that lame-ass argument. This isn’t imperial Rome where the measure of a man (or woman, in the modern sense) is based solely on military and civil service. We peons who actually work real jobs and pay those taxes so liberally spent by politicians like John McCain are this country.
I don’t think that’s true. Only four of McCain’s aides knew Palin was his choice. If the decision were made by other people, it would have leaked out. Harriet Christian said at a meeting with 70 Hillary Clinton supporters in June, Palin’s name was one of a few mentioned. They all aproved. ?He got feedback from people and took a risk. I don’t even think Rove knew who it would be. And he knows it’s a winning ticket, but that’s not calculating of him in the cynical sense. It’s his instincts; it’s just who he is. He’s a gambler who takes calculated risks and has had incredible luck this year. He knows he’s old, and he’s happy to see he is doing something momentous. McCain is a man who obviously thinksd of life in bigger terms than just politics.
And calling Cindy McCain is unfair to a woman who has gone out of her way to be of service to those less fortunate without making a big deal about it. There is a humility and a passion to her at the same time, though she is not very good at giving speeches.
I don’t know, that “Ice Queen” has gone around the world for years and dealt with the after effects of genocide and children dying with malnutrition & diarrhea from unclean drinking water. She & McCain adopted one of the orphans from Mother Theresa’s orphanage. She’s also organized for yearsmission trip after mission trip of doctors to provide their services for free to help people all over the world and goes with them on these missions to help run them but, at the same time, she’ll sit in a corner and roll bandages in a t-shirt and jeans – there are plenty of pics of her doing that. There is much more she’s done over the years in this regard, but I won’t go on.
I am a liberal Independent, and I’m not intimately knowledgable about all the scoop on the Repub. players, but it seems to me that Cindy McCain,in her own way, has sincerely worked and accomplished great things with the inheritance she received from her father in order to make this world a better place.
The Obama campaign has had the nerve to attack McCain on “all his money” and they did this to the Clintons as well, but (as I’ve said many times before) the bottom line in this regard is that Barack and Michele gave less than 1% of their income to charity and NOT one bloody cent did they give to the victims of KATRINA. Bill and Hillary tithe every year and the McCains give well OVER 10% of their money – they have been the most generous.
And comparing percentages is a FAIR AND EQUITABLE comparison vs. comparing incomes and dollar amounts. Percentages of income is an apples to apples comparison and Obama didn’t start giving even a halfway decent amount until he began running for President. That makes him a total fraud.
THere was a video of McCAin deplaning in Minneapolis right after the pregnant daughter firestorm, and McCain is shown to deliberately go to Bristol and her boyfriend and spend time talking to them and then he grabbed them by he arms and gave them a shake showing his solidarity with them. It was incredible
Yes Hap Hazard – I saw that too. I liked that they their response to the hypocritical Obamabots was to bring in the boyfriend front and center and join him in the family. It was like they were saying “You don’t scare us. Bring it on!”
Well said, Mike. Obama can’t stand a strong woman that can get things done! He hates Hillary Clinton and totally stabbed her in the back. Now he wants her help? HAHA!
Hey, Obama, if you need help with women voters, why don’t you send Michelle Obama out on the stump to talk to women? Hmmm? BTW, where is MO these days? Is she being held at some undisclosed location? LOL! I guess she thinks American women are being mean to BO!
When you look at Obama’s record and his actions, he is the antithesis of change. Obama is just more of the same old politics of the past wrapped in a shiny bow with the words change on it.
well, he tried that today:
Five days after Obama said families are off limits, Michelle Obama feels it necessary to tell us all that the Obama’s will not have anymore kids because the “presidential race is enough additional responsibility”.
The Obama campaign is telling us that Sarah Palin is unfit to run for VP because she has too many young children. The Obama campaign is afferming and endorsing the sexism that has polluted the MSM, the blogs and the rhetoric of the democratic primary.
This announcement tells America that the Obama campaign has nothing left to stand on, nothing left to offer the voters and that they are truly desperate.
More importantly, it also finally unmasks the true origins of the smears spread about Palin’s daughter, the disgusting lies about Palin’s newly born son and the appalling sexism Americans have had to endure over the last year as nothing more than Obama campaign talking points.
Now we just have to wait for Obama to say, “That is not the Michelle I knew”.

Are they saying we should vote out all men and women in office with children? Or just women because men have their good little woman at home to take care of the children? What’s wrong with Sarah being a strong woman and Todd playing Mr. Mom? They do realize there are some fantastic single father households do they not? Or are the also promoting that single men should not be taking care of children? Having custody of their children?
They’ve already thrown every mother that has a teenager that has gotten pregnant under the bus. Mothers with special needs children. Single mothers. (I suppose according to these new Democrats they’re supposed to stay at home, live on welfare and take care of their children) Now they’re throwing men under the bus by saying they’re incapable of taking care of their children. They threw all women who believe part of Pro-Choice also includes having the choice of keeping your child. Of course they threw us Hillary supporters under the bus long ago. Is there anyone left they praise? Or is all of America now under the bus. I think they’ve thrown millions of people under the bus in just the past week.
Diana,
So true. With most Americans under the bus, who is left to vote for Obama? The “slash and burn” strategy seemed to work with some democrats during the democratic primaries but on the national stage, it’s not playing very well at all.
Why not? Maybe because the republicans are standing behind Palin and also because we Clinton supporters will not let this happen to another woman.
Call me a “pollyanna” but I still believe there are more decent and honorable people in this country than there are thugs and “mean people.” The unbridled personal attacks on Palin and her family by the MSM and the Obama campaign, as well as some democratic party leaders make the rest of us cringe. Decent people empathize with the ones who are being unfairly attacked – not the attackers.
If for no other reason than the above, I see that the McCain/Palin ticket will be a “winner” come November. Furthermore at least in my family, my husband and I intend to do what we can to help put McCain/Palin in the Oval Office.
and this is why all those angry feminists and progressive (or as I call them “bleeding heart liberals) continue to supporting him?
Welcome to life Howard Gutman. Shit happens.
Why is this picture wrong? It is her daughters child. It is being born into a loving family. Next.
Yes, McCain’s pick actually highlighted his wisdom, while Obama’s decision to ignore Hillary for his VP highlighted not only his lack of wisdom but his huge ego.
mike — first Obama has to understand the issues before he can be a reformer and after 20 months he still can’t answer a question. He is lazy and as Sarah says — he wrote two books but not one piece of legislation.
Who would be running this country while Obama remains a symbol?
Hogwash. mccain voted 90% for bush, think the big gumby hug while mccain was kissing bush’s ass.
jimbo, both President Bush and Senator McCain are Republicans. Thus, the fact their views are quite similar is inconsequential. What is indicative of Senator McCain’s independence from Republican dogma is his voting record, against President Bush and other Republican senators (like on the issue of immigration).
The Obama campaign needs to come up with a better talking point.
“McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time” is ficticious and preposterous.
– McCain has been a senator for 22 years. Examine all 22 years of his voting record instead of just the last 8.
– McCain can vote “with” his political party or against it. Voting with one’s political party more than not means what, exactly?
– Technically, the president is a member of the executive branch of government. He doesn’t get to vote on legislative issues. So Bush doesn’t really have a voting record against which to compare McCain’s.
This comment speaks to what is fundamently wrong with the voting public. People don’t research their candidates.
Palin is NOT a reformer.
She claimed she was against the “Bridge to Nowhere, a massive pork-barrel project. But she was infact FOR the project until it began to garner national attention and ridicule.
Palin’s Lt. Governor is an Oil & Gas lobbyist
Palin has also sought close to $600 million in earmarks during her combined tenures as mayor of Wasilla and Gov. of Alaska.
***
And please note: To anyone ready to dismiss me as a “troll”, all my claims have sources.
Real, actual sources, not conjecture, gossip or conspiracy theories.
The sources are cited right there for you. Investigate for yourself. The woman is as much of a reformer as McCain is a “Maverick”. Which is to say, NOT AT ALL!
She has said she was for it until she researched it.
Seems to me it is pretty smart to hire somebody who knows what is going on.
lmao big push by the Obots…………Sarah must have you worried.
More power to you. Call Howie and tell him I am not coming home.
LOL. I already know that Palin is an empty skirt. Sarah Barracuda will be nothing but flecks in Joey the Shark’s droppings after their debate.
Your “research” speaks to what is fundamentally wrong.
– Ketchikan and Gravina residents needed a better solution than the current infrastructure provides. As Governor of Alaska, Palin was right to initially support a project that her constituents badly needed. When the larger scope of the issue became known, Palin, as an American citizen, made the right decision in supporting the transfer of those funds to Louisianna.
- Similarly, voters who initially supported Barack Obama have since decided not to support him after considering the larger scope of the issue.
– Marty Rutherford is not a known criminal or terrorist. Enough said.
– Seeking 31 earmarks worth $197.8 million is not within the sole discretion and authority of Sarah Palin. Many others have a say in those matters.
– Similarly, you don’t hold Obama responsible for the actions not within his sole discretion and authority.
No, she didn’t transfer those funds. She KEPT the money for the bridge to use for other infrastructure projects in Alaska.
Could you be MORE vague, please?
No, she’s just one of those “special interest” people McCain/Palin are going to fight, right?
Alaska has requested the largest per-capita request of federal spending in the nation. You mean to tell me she’s going to fight pork projects in Congress, but she can’t fight them in her own cabinet?
As the GOP are fond of reminding us, Obama is the one without “executive experience” (as is McCain). “Executive experience” includes taking responsibility for the policy failures in your own administration, which Palin hasn’t done.
Marty Rutherford is not a known criminal or terrorist. Enough said.
What is vague about this?
Or does 160mil and Ayers and BO make you concerned?
Not at all?
*Rolls eyes* Do I need to break this down for you? At the top of my comment is a direct quote from YOU. Below that quote is a response from ME.
Therefore, when I asked you to “be more vague”, it was in response to the direct quote ABOVE, i.e. Similarly, voters who initially supported Barack Obama have since decided not to support him after considering the larger scope of the issue.
This is a ridiculously vague response.
And I’m about as concerned with this Ayers nonsense as McCain followers ought to be about his close relationship with lobbyists, his Keating Five Scandal, and Palin’s ethics investigations and desire to ask for more in earmarks than any other state in the union.
Do I need to break this down for you?
You’re responding to a comment from TeakwoodKite, not TexasBuckeye.
Buy a clue, would ya?
- She supported transfering the money to LA to repair bridges damaged by Katrina.
Understand English much?
– Voters who were caught up in the emotional “Hope and Change” mantra early in the campaign have since withdrawn their support for Obama now that they have examined Obama’s lack of qualifcations.
Drink Kool-Aid much?
– Yes. They fight special interest groups, who have undue influence in legislative matters. Rutherford is a former lobbyist, meaning that Rutherford no longer works for the special interest group.
Try to understand the basic concept of lobbying legislators versus working for legislators.
– You don’t have a clue where that money goes. You’re not in a position to say whether or not it’s pork-spending.
http://alaskaneconomy.uaa.alaska.edu/Publications/FedSpendSum.pdf
Research much?
What policy failures?
Make up stuff much?
It doesn’t bode well for the republican ticket that Palin Apologists have become so numerous only a week after she became the vice presidential candidate.
I think it bodes little. Are they not simply a reaction to the Obama Attack Machine? The Obama campaign and its surrogates have been going hard against Palin. Do you not think it would be weird, if a large number of nonObama supporters did not try to counter the attack?
The momentum has definitely shifted to McCain-Palin.
Let’s Keep Going!
Stand up America! Stand up and fight!
Oh I am so glad to be living in a country where I own my own vote and don’t have to give it to BO!
Proud to send McCain-Palin to Washington to shake things up and get things doen for AMERICA!
Obama needs to just go back to Chicago and start mending those fences, and all those broken down housing projects that he and his crooked cronies were involved in.
Gee, I never thought about Washington, Franklin, and Jefferson (et al) as being community organizers. I guess that makes just about anybody in politics, kids in schoolyards, teachers, the Red Cross–community organizers.
What makes Palin interesting is that she has a set of values and is willing to stand up for them. I don’t have to agree with all her social positions, but then she has no history of inflicting them on anybody else. She does have a history of accomplishment and reform, vs. the Great Bobo Community Organizer.
Another name for community organizer is rabblerouser.
as well as militant.
SFK — lololol — Only Obama would brag about his experience as a Community Organizer. One of his jobs as a CO was to get jobs for people in his district. Real Presidential stuff that.
If Obama wants a government job so badly — why not work for the Unemployed. Unemployment is up and Uncle Sam needs Obama.
she has stated she has no problem with allowing creationist discussions in schools. Creationism = religion, according to our judiciary. palin is enabling religion, that is her agenda. That agenda is supported by her religionist masters, who put her into the position she is in, not mccain.
Blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah
So what? It can be taught in any class other than science.
You are a broken record who has posted this crap a thousand times. We don’t care, dudley.
jimbo, again, you more or less state the truth but miss the point. Governor Palin’s personal belief is that creationism can be discussed in public school. But as her state’s chief executive, she refuses to convert her personal beliefs into law.
Jimbo –
Obama has said that as well – saw it posted the other day – I’ll try to find the link.
Wow. I almost don’t even know what to say to something that ignorant.
Demeaning the work of the nation’s founding fathers? I’m as granola-eating pinko lib-rul as they come, but I wouldn’t even have the gall to make such a crass statement as this.
You are truly a testament to the backward logic that fuels this cess-pool of a website.
Hey Streetdrug. How Biden? Does his backing of Clarence Thomas count as “taking on entrenched interests?”
Senator Joseph Biden voted against Thomas’ confirmation both in the Judiciary Committee (which he chaired) and in the full Senate, so I’m not sure what you mean by “backing.”
blueasthesky. As chairman, Biden refused to allow other witnesses to testify against Clarenece Thomas. Their testimony might have prevented Thomas from getting on the court over the objection of the NAACP legal counsel and others and his barely passeable rating. I watched every minute of the hearing and Biden was disgusting.
After 8 years of the worst president in our history, you want to reward the gop with more of the same.

Ferd,
What Barry has in mind for America puts anything GW did already to shame. We have survived GW… can we survive Obama if he wins. That is the main issue. What Barry has in mind for us all is his version of table turning for sins committed two hundred years ago. I will not live under a Marxist regime.
We must all resolve to stand together and fight just like McCain said. Sometimes fighting for something is how you know what has value.
I will fight…
I agree. I fully support the McCain/Palin ticket.
See, it’s precisely this kind of simplistic thinking that makes me wonder how your vote could possibly be worth the same as mine.
Yes, the American people want change. But what we DON’T want is socialism, which is precisely what a hard-core leftist like Barack Obama would bring us.
Brilliant Dan.
What do you call bailing out corporate and banks with your tax money?
How about the fraud of Iraq?
When will the fleecing of your tax money be enough for you to say enough?
When your grand kids owe a million before they are even born?
Oooh, but that socialism is scary.
Actually, it IS brilliant. Socialism IS scary but Obama is worse. He’s a Marxist. See, Marxists like to control information and are very VERY Militant About It.
So yes, it IS scary, and exceedingly UNAMERICAN.
Patrick
Kind of how Palin attempted to use her authority to ban books from her local library?
Yes, Crystal Meth, exactly like that…there comes a time when six to eight talking points become extremely laughalbe. Note the word ‘attempted’ in your comment. Did she do it? No, did checks and balances come into play and reign in a bad idea? Yes. THAT is government. Not one single person here is saying that McCain/Palin are perfect people. We WILL disagree with them. But the percentage of times disagreed with will be minimal to the amount of time we disagree with the Marxist nominee who has taken over the democratic party.
Take care,
Patrick
I don’t buy Socialists who want to live in a mansion while every one else practises socialism. Fuck that!
You lead by example. They’ve not been as involved in any kind of redeeming social welfare program as Cyndy McCain. Hell, the murder rate in Chicago is staggering.
The Obamas are hypocrites and you Botheads are idiots.
Hi there, haven’t see you write for a while, though I saw some comments over on TPM this past week.
Hello.
Its a train wreck over there.
All about Palin.
“What’s the difference between Sarah Palin and Jerry Falwell?”
“Lipstick”
Geez.
I would like to see her battle the media but she has energized the base.
How do you battle the media? Is it necessary? Is it worth it? Why can’t ordinary people read up so they know how the MSM are trying to dupe them? So they can steer clear and make intelligent decisions? What the F is wrong with people anyway?
j — I would guess that you support Obama. Could you ask someone at that phone bank you work out of — what is Obama’s real name and exactly where was he born. He could save us a lot of time by admitting he is not an American.
No, actually Jerry Falwell is dead, too. Why should she battle the media? She’s supposed to be campaigning for McCain. They’re ignoring the media like McCain has been forever, and AGAIN Sarah is obviously supposed to energize the base. Obama has pissed off at least a third of his base.
Don’t look at the Republicans as a monolith. They are a coalition, just like the Dems.
There is the ‘Liberal’ (or statist) half of the party that is similar to the Dems in that they want to see an increase in the reach of the state. This is the Wall Street branch of the party (Bush 1 & 2, Cheney, etc). State interference in the economy slows growth but guarantees profits. Sucks if you are an individual, great if you are a large corp.
Then there’s the old conservative base (small gov, low taxes, balanced budget), Libertarian (small gov, high personal freedom) and the Right to lifers. For a long time, it was the statists and right to lifers that formed the wining coalition.
McCain is running an insurgency within his own party. He basically is trying to form a coalition with the conservatives, right to lifers and libertarians. This hasn’t been done since Reagan. Palin will never be dropped from the ticket. In one person, she embodies organically, the entire coalition.
Don’t you find it interesting that right after Palin and McCain gave their speeches that the market took a dive (300+ points) and they announced a takeover of Fannie May and Freddie?
Even they can see the writing on the wall. The Statists need to clean up just in case McCain/Palin wins.
Thanks so much for your analysis! It filled in for me some missing pieces. And this is why I will be supporting McCain this year, to kick the wall street group back down a few rungs. Have been really unhappy with the corporatist takeover attempt of the government, and clearly those folks have shifted over to Obama. As an Indy I can often find areas of agreement with the old style conservatives and libertarians. It’s the theocons I can do without. Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad
insurgency- that is the second time tonight I have seen someone use that word in a post with McCain’s name; it really isn’t subtle.
Because you all don’t usually head out to NRO. Basically everything in a nutshell.

mckatmoon — it is the Obama talking point of the night. They don’t pay these people $7.00 an hour for nothing.
Well, almost nothing. He isn’t getting much for his hard-begged dollar. They are bigmouth bass in a very small bucket.
Oh please, the market went down because the unemployment figures came out that day and they were higher than expected.
No, the day the unemployment figures came out the market when up just over 13 points.
Take care,
Patrick
“After 8 years of the worst president in our history, you want to reward the gop with more of the same.”
After 8 years of an unqualified President, you want another 4 years of an unqualified President?
whoframedrudy — I don’t want another unqualified president — so I will vote for McCain/Palin.
I gotta tell you gota, telling Americans the rest of the world doesn’t like their choice and they need to change it so the rest of the world will like them, is not the way to win an American election. Just sayin’
Obama and his bunch would like us to be more like the Europeans. God help us if Russia decided to attack us, we’d have no back bone and surrender before the first shot was fired. No thank you Obama, I want to be a true grit American like John and Sarah!
The Repubs are purging their Party of the fascist neo-cons with McCain and Palin; the Dem are offering us the Left’s version of GWB, the fascist neo-con.
What’s so hard to understand? PUMAS believes in Country over Party.
I am a Democrat, but Obama scares me. I think you described the reasons why I cannot vote for Obama.
OK, McCain and William Kristol are friends, but how is Palin a NEOCON?!!! lol.
-Palin’s church believes taht the Iraq ware is a mission from God.
-McCain thinks Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
-Palin attempted to use her pwer and influence to have books banned at her local library.
-McCain had close relationships with both John Hagee and Jerry Fallwell.
Does that sound like a ticket that is ready “purge its part of facist neo-cons”?
Amusing.
You do realize that John McCain was president of Bill Kristol’s New Citizenship Project, the precursor of Project for a New American Century?
McCain’s top foreign policy advisor, Randy Scheunemann, is on the board of PNAC. He’s also president of the PNAC’s Committee for the Liberation of Iraq.
How right-wing neo-con can you get?
gotalife — bugger off
Barack Obama was the founding member of Public Allies. Michelle Obama was an executive there. He claims public allies is a community organizing not for profit group. But it seems he wants to use this as a model to promote a national civilian force.
I wish the media will dig more into this public allies Chicago chapter.
check out publicallies.org
Obama’s civilian army is very scary!
Funny thing is… as much as most of the real America loving democrats fully understand this… the war room “goon squad” are so hate filled they just can’t help themselves. It’s like they are addicted to the fleeting high they get from attacking this woman, her middle American family, her patriotic values and the fact that she is a strong woman… who is strong without needing a feminist value system to fall back on. Gov. Palin is a kind of “kryptonite” for these folks, and they hate her for that. Myself, for the first time in many years, I feel hope. Hope that this nation has it within itself the capacity and the will to heal.
Sarah got to where she is because of the many dedicated and brave feminists. She didn’t get there by herself, that’s for sure.
Sarah is the opposite of Identity Politics.. She’s an individualist self-made woman. As a conservative myself, I share her view that each other is our own person and we make our fortune in life.
But of course, Role models are always important.
In addition it seems like we heard from so many Feminists this week about how she wasn’t fit for the job.
The Republican party is promoting Sarah Palin as a “maverick”. An individual who is willing to take on the “good ole boys” even in her own party. Well Sarah be our guest. If you are truly a “maverick” then turn pivot and look into the face of the most ruthless group of mostly “good ole boys” that our nation has ever had shit on the constitution and undermine National Security.
You go girl. You can start with the false intelligence along with the Niger Documents and just who is responsible for the WMD hogwash. You know the intelligence that was used to invade a country that never attacked us. Then you can start to deal with the outing of Valerie Plame, torture, politicizing the Dept of Justice, illegal wiretapping etc.
But my bet is that Sarah will write all of the Bush administrations horrendous crimes as the “work of God”. I believe Sarah is a heretic !
Obama Voted for FISA!
Oops he did it again.
went back on his word…
0blahblah promised to unite the country. Oopsie.
He promised transparency. Another oopsie.
Obama Promises like a rug.
You can be sure no matter what todays issue is he will have it covered.
Of course tomorrow he will pull it out from under you and flip it over.
He has talking points for each of his two faces and many personalities. Which one will he go for tomorrow? Stay tuned.
That all you got, Dumb Ass?
With your IQ hovering in the single digits, I wouldn’t be throwing around the term dumb ass so cavalierly, gomer.
lmao Ferd……omg!
Obama is for the surge now. I guess he changed his mind.
Actually, I believe Barry told O’Reilly that the surge worked “beyond anyone’s wildest dreams” but knowing that, still would have opposed it. Huh?
Of all the scary things about Obama (inexepericne, dishonesty, misogyny, racist, anti-American, corrput and terrorist friends and associates, etc.) one of the scariest is Barry’s absolute inability to EVER admit he was wrong about anything.
In that respect, he is exactly like George W. Bush.
He “clarifies” his comments (i.e., tells all us idiots how we were suppposed to take them)and “distances himself” from close frineds when they become political liabilities, but he almost never admits he was wrong and apologizes.
If Barry is elected, I have little doubt he will stubbornly continue every failed policy and never learn from his mistakes.
weren’t you banned because of your filthy racist comments?
Going to have to check with susan.
Susan is racist, she would not be the one to check with
Neither Susan nor Larry put up with racist comments. They do allow trolls to comment, however, so linger if you want.
My moneys on Ferd. your gonna get stomped.
Yeah! Like…FISA and a dozen other things doesn’t make him a BIG LIAR or anything. HOPE. CHANGE. BUSH SUCKS.
what does this comment have to do with Sarah allegedly being a “maverick” I want to see her verbally pivot and start demanding accountability in regard to the last eight years. Get going Sarah. Start with the false intelligence then move to the outing of one of Larry’s friends Valerie Plame if your such a fucking maverick get going Sarah
I love how it’s what you want
It’s an “us” thing, this election stuff, you know?
‘j’ you’re inept.
What part of “what has obama done” to prove his “reform” status do you not get?
You can’t answer that because he’s WORSE THAN PALIN.
How about resigning from her job and getting the Chairman of the GOP in her state fired?
chit I hope not
let’s give her HALF A FRIGGEN second!!!
and how can you just say that when she has such a HIGH rating as Governor and she’s almost thru with her 2nd term so it’s not like she JUST got there. They’ve watched her and a LOT have MET her.
Heretic? nah.
but beware of Obama and his black liberation theology roots!!! THOSE could become the law of the land soon enough.
SOONER than Sarah’s “fanatic” thoughts
so far I don’t see them
I meant 2nd YEAR not 2nd term.
Heretic? Hmmm…She’s Catholic? What does what you claim have to do with the Church’s teachings?
Clarification: Heretic=witch=sexist
I mean sexism.
We’ve found a witch! A witch! A witch! A witch! We have found a witch. May we burn her?
CROWD:
Burn her! Burn! Burn her! Burn her!
BEDEVERE:
How do you know she is a witch?
VILLAGER #2:
She looks like one.
CROWD:
Right! Yeah! Yeah!
BEDEVERE:
Bring her forward.
WITCH:
I’m not a witch. I’m not a witch.
BEDEVERE:
Uh, but you are dressed as one.
WITCH:
They dressed me up like this.
CROWD:
Augh, we didn’t! We didn’t…
WITCH:
And this isn’t my nose. It’s a false one.
BEDEVERE:
Well?
VILLAGER #1:
Well, we did do the nose.
BEDEVERE:
The nose?
VILLAGER #1:
And the hat, but she is a witch!
VILLAGER #2:
Yeah!
CROWD:
We burn her! Right! Yeaaah! Yeaah!
BEDEVERE:
Did you dress her up like this?
VILLAGER #1:
No!
VILLAGER #2 and 3:
No. No.
VILLAGER #2:
No.
VILLAGER #1:
No.
VILLAGERS #2 and #3:
No.
VILLAGER #1:
Yes.
VILLAGER #2:
Yes.
VILLAGER #1:
Yes. Yeah, a bit.
VILLAGER #3:
A bit.
VILLAGERS #1 and #2:
A bit.
VILLAGER #3:
A bit.
VILLAGER #1:
She has got a wart.
RANDOM:
[cough]
BEDEVERE:
What makes you think she is a witch?
VILLAGER #3:
Well, she turned me into a newt.
BEDEVERE:
A newt?
VILLAGER #3:
I got better.
VILLAGER #2:
Burn her anyway!
VILLAGER #1:
Burn!
CROWD:
Burn her! Burn! Burn her!…
BEDEVERE:
Quiet! Quiet! Quiet! There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
VILLAGER #1:
Are there?
VILLAGER #2:
Ah?
VILLAGER #1:
What are they?
CROWD:
Tell us! Tell us!…
BEDEVERE:
Tell me. What do you do with witches?
VILLAGER #2:
Burn!
VILLAGER #1:
Burn!
CROWD:
Burn! Burn them up! Burn!…
BEDEVERE:
And what do you burn apart from witches?
VILLAGER #1:
More witches!
VILLAGER #3:
Shh!
VILLAGER #2:
Wood!
BEDEVERE:
So, why do witches burn?
[pause]
VILLAGER #3:
B–… ’cause they’re made of… wood?
BEDEVERE:
Good! Heh heh.
CROWD:
Oh, yeah. Oh.
BEDEVERE:
So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1:
Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEVERE:
Ah, but can you not also make bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #1:
Oh, yeah.
RANDOM:
Oh, yeah. True. Uhh…
BEDEVERE:
Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1:
No. No.
VILLAGER #2:
No, it floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1:
Throw her into the pond!
CROWD:
The pond! Throw her into the pond!
BEDEVERE:
What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1:
Bread!
VILLAGER #2:
Apples!
VILLAGER #3:
Uh, very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1:
Cider!
VILLAGER #2:
Uh, gra– gravy!
ARTHUR:
A duck!
CROWD:
Oooh.
BEDEVERE:
Exactly. So, logically…
VILLAGER #1:
If… she… weighs… the same as a duck,… she’s made of wood.
BEDEVERE:
And therefore?
VILLAGER #2:
A witch!
VILLAGER #1:
A witch!
CROWD:
A witch! A witch!…
“do unto others, thou shall not kill, love thy neighbor” Sarah is about as far away from these beliefs as you can get. You can run but she can not hide. She thinks the war in Iraq “is the work of god”.
Over a million dead Iraqi people, 4ooo american soliders dead, 50, ooo injured, 5 million Iraqi people displaced on a pack of lies stuffed down the American people’s throats. Sarah supports this. She is about as far away from the teachings of Jesus Christ as Bush is. She can call her self a Catholic but that does not make it so. she is a heretic and if there is a hell she will burn in it along with Bush, Cheney and the other radicals that lied this nation into an unnecessary war.
Guess what J? Obama supports the surge now. Return to the mothership for instructions.
Shaka-ri calls to you.
Supporting something, and admitting that it was effective are not the same thing.
Furthermore, we shouldn’t have been in Iraq in the first place.
Crystal, it’s easy to support something when you never had to VOTE for it. I believe that Dennis Kucinich is the only one of the candidates who can use that line of rehotric. Obama would have tried to vote ‘prsent’ again.
Patrick
she said let us pray that we are doing gods work.
For those of you left wing liberals who want to interpret averything as a religious crusade let me help you understand.
Let us pray that we are doing gods work means let us pray that the result of this is good not evil. as in let us pray that going into iraq will end up bringing a better life to these people as a result of the cost they and we are about to pay.
It does not mean Let us Pray that we can go over there and start converting every person to a jesus freak.
You left wingers are so out of touch with mian stream america its frightening.
They’ve probably never been to church or said a prayer in their life.
She took on Republicans in Alaska. So I think you bet wrong.
The Dem Congress has overlooked Bush’s crimes. You should be asking Pelosi what Congress has done these past couple of years since taking control of the Congress.
The entire McDonald’s–liberal students, older workers just getting off of the late shift, McDonald’s staff, and assorted other customers–were riveted in front of the TV with tears streaming down their faces.
That is moving to hear. I have to believe that McCain is ahead in polls taken after the convention, results of which haven’t yet been released.
I think McCain’s speech was one of the most brilliant I have ever heard. Maybe it was because expectations were so low, but I have never heard someone shout their speech over a crowd of cheers for the length of time he did at the end when he called out, “Stand up, stand up and fight” (I’m paraphrasing). That was one of the most moving things I have ever heard and I am not an uber-partiotic being. His personal story of transformation could not have been more perfect. Tailor made. The words delivered the right amount of personal emotion, conveyed with military efficiency. I loved the way he explained how his ego, his self, melted away in captivity and he found himself part of something much larger than self.
I think everyone wants to be part of something bigger than themselves (except one person we know) and that speech, so heartfelt, inspired all, cut across all. It is what we all want, all search for, but rarely grasp. He learned it by living it, and I really believe, skeptic that I am, that he meant it with all his heart.
McCain’s speech ended the way Hillary’s did at the convention. She has been a template for both Obama and McCain. In fact, Obama has now started using her ideas and words verbatum at campaign stops.
I noticed that trixta, but Barry stumbles over the words and has no delivery.
Biden voted against the Kyl Lieberman amendment (Larry would you call the Israeli lobby special interest?). McCain voted yes on that warmongering amendment. I will agree that Obama was a fucking fence sitter on this critical issue. But Biden stood up to the I-lobby on this one and McCain folded.
…and President BO? He went to the bathroom.
And McCain voted for more warmongering. By the way I hated Obama’s fence sitting on this amendment
How about FISA? NAFTA? Public Financing? How many of these will it take for you? Will you continue to stand on the platform when the friggin platform is gone?
They need to get a structural engineer in there quickly to make his platform stronger to hold up that house of cards. His shifting positions have weakened it to the point of collapse.
Both parties pander to AIPAC more or less equally.
great post as usual…….if you have aol, go to aol pm and see what a hack, tommy christopher posted. He said Palin played the retard card. Can you believe this ????? Obama supportors will stop at nothing, it is time for the republicans to bring out the big guns and blow obama away with this election…. These people are desperate, nasty and deadly with their attacks on Palin.
THE HERO VERSES THE ZERO
We can talk all day about the issues, which is what we like to do here, the problem is, does a voter just want to hear something simple, because they don’t care to check for themselves? There isn’t any excuse not to know the voting records of any candidate, it is all posted at thomas for the house, on the web. Every piece of legislation that has been introduced shows who, how, when all the information. For an O supporter to spew this crap is to treat American voters as stupid, and maybe they deserve it if they are going to proceed that way. Generalizations don’t cut it, and voting present is just plain politically candy ass. A set up. It shows the politician either can’t make up their mind, doesn’t understand the issue, doesn’t care or is using the present vote, for attendance purposes, as a means to claim political experience.
There isn’t much on previous votes cast by Obama while in the state house for whatever reason, it’s more stupidity as far as I am concerned. that seems to be the general theme anymore; let’s box all American voters into the popular personality theme, and label them as no longer thoughtful about how their government operates or needs to, just long as they vote for the one who is “hot”, f*ck people this isn’t Hollywood. This is the office of President. The idiot media can continue to spew, that’s all they do, nonsensical rantings hoping only to convince someone to vote, the O campaign heads a cast of actors who seek to have the next american idol president; but there are still many of us who will not fall for the transparent, and obvious attempt to redefine our election, or the office of the President. I see a similarity of the o supporters to the group of people that think it’s ok to watch teenage girls beat another into unconsciousness, on u-tube, or see the suicide letter of a teenager who was attacked, smeared on the internet as well. That center will not hold, there will be a great upset for them, that their idol didn’t win, and I will not be surprised if they resort to adult tantrums of violence, claiming they have the right. We have already had racial insults, sexist remarks verging on the imagery of violence, but I really don’t care how foolish they get and how far they go. One would think of not allowing a personal portrait to be painted with such blind faith strokes.
The world is watching, and really wondering, why on earth would we support the independence of another country, when we can’t even agree to treat a woman fairly in our own. This presidential election looks cheap, and staged, like a red carpet moment. The prize isn’t an emmy. The only carrot here is the respect of the American people, with that respect will come the trust and support to rebuild our country.
another thing Palin completely lied about Iran in her speech. Saying that they had a Nuclear weapons program instead of nuclear program. McCain as well as Palin are completely ignoring the most recent National Intelligence Estimate, and the International Atomic Energy Agencies Director Mr. El Baradei who has repeatedly asked all sides to “turn down the inflammatory rhetoric”. Yet McCain, and now Palin along with John Bolton, Cheney, Doug Feith and the rest of the warmongers who lied this nation into Iraq. McCain will support an attack on Iran based on horseshit and Palin will go along.
Obama and Biden will not!
Palin also made complete fun of Obama’s commitment to the Geneva Convention, when she said “and he’s worried about reading them their rights”.
Fuck these people like Palin and McCain who hide behind little fucking crosses around their necks and want to protect American fetuses while blowing up Iraqi children and innocent people for no fucking reason what so ever. I am fucking fed up with these heretics!
if there is a hell they will be going for sure
Of course you probably know this psychically.
Obama and Biden do not repeat unsubstantiated claims about Iran the way that McCain has repeatedly done. Palin appears to be following in his foot steps.
Obama and Biden are committed to diplomacy with Iran
In other words, Patrick/Kinnock…I mean Obama/Biden (I keep getting the originals mixed up with the plagiarists) will allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons and destroy Israel and put those weapons in the hands of terrorists.
Obama is ready to invade our allies (like Pakistan) but wants thinks he can negotiate with a madman.
Obama/Biden ‘08 – “Peace through Weakness”
“Obama and Biden are committed to diplomacy with Iran.”
I’m pretty fed up with this leftwing white notion that only 0bama can heal and save the world because he’s a man of color. Like people of color get along so famously. Like the Shia and Sunni and Kurds get along so well that we can dance out of Iraq tomorrow.
There is no basis for believing in 0bama’s incredible diplomacy skills. Has he spent extensive time in the Mid-East? At least he’s not mentioning it so I have to assume he hasn’t. What makes him so cocksure that he’s capable of dealing with Iran and Ahmajdinejad? Did he study about the mid-east in college? What exactly does he know about the history and culture of Iran that McCain or any other American doesn’t know? Does he speak Arabic?
This is the biggest load of dung they’ve been selling this whole Primary. That 0bama by virtue of his skin color will set a tone internationally and resurrect the American image. What are these people smoking? There is no reason for Iran to alter their agenda for 0bama. If he were the president, he’d be in power no more than 8 years. And then what? Iran has an agenda. No one likes to talk about it out loud, but we all know what it is. And nothing 0bama could say is going to change that longterm.
These leaders plan to punk 0bama if he becomes POTUS. While he goes about his naïve diplomacy, they’ll be scheming behind his back. Without going over the past, but haven’t we learned our lesson about getting in bed with these guys? It’s only a matter of time before they change their minds. And then they know as much as we know.
If America was so concerned about the appearance of racism from outside our shores, then we should have done something about that long ago. It’s certainly clear now that we need to address these issues. But electing 0bama is not the solution. He’s simply not prepared. And I’m tired of him and his people trying to pull this massive guilt trip that only him getting presidency will expunge America’s sins. This is what has the black community so hysterical. They are throwing the baby out with the bathwater just to get this man elected. And it doesn’t matter how many babies get thrown out.
Nothing going on in the middle east or in Africa today, should make us feel that people of color have a leg up on diplomatic relations. The tribal feuds alone should make us leery. And it’s quite possible that in the long run, leaders like Ahjmadinejad might develop more animosity for an uncooperative 0bama presidency. At least Mahmoud knows what he’s getting with McCain. With 0bama, he’s licking his chops. If he doesn’t get what he wants, then 0bama is useless to him. And what he wants may not be in America’s best interest.
We need a president who at least understands diplomatic relations and who has the smarts not to be outwitted or outfoxed by a world leader with a sinister agenda.
Obama and Biden do not repeat unsubstantiated claims about Iran as McCain has on many occasions. And Palin is following in McCain and Bush’s footsteps by doing the same.
has your time release ED drug kicked in yet so you can go back to wanking and get the fuck out of our conversations???
I assure you that the purpose of the Iranian Nuclear Program is Weapons first.
what are you a weapons inspector? or a Larry and Susan zombie?
They are just peace loving people. How could anyone think they are trying to build bombs? Isn’t that where the game candyland comes from? FTR I am not in favor of attacking Iran. I was also not in favor of attacking Iraq. Quit waving shit around trying to pass it off as roses.
Start by reading the latest National Intelligence Estimate on Iran and then we will talk. That is if you Susan and Larry devotees ever read anything else beside what is posted at this racist blog.
Well, you must admit that it is a little odd that a not very wealthy country with one of the world’s largest oil / natural gas reserves would be spending billions to develop an alternative energy source.
It is at least suspicous…n’est-ce pas?
Don’t you understand?
The Iranians are committed to ending their dependence on cheap, domestic oil, and become dependent on expensive, foreign Uranium.
At least that is the way it is seen in the Obamabot Bizarro World. Everything is backwards.
For example Barack claims he wanted to join the military in 1979, but there were no wars going on at the time.
Actually i am an Iranian ex-national with many friends and family overseas in iran who ware involved both in government and the military and very quietly in the opposition underground.
Now, who the fuck are you? Besides a koolaid drinking snot nosed prick who thinks just because you read it on daily Kos it’s true?
SCORE
Is that it? Most all your little friends are out playing in the street. You should join them.
J aren’t you on the wrong web site? H E L L O? Sounds like an Obama supporter would want to be with his own ilk.
What arrogant arrogant self righteousness.
Since Obama voted for FISA, he has no leg to stand on when it comes to Sarah’s comments about “reading [them] their rights.”
j do you gets extra money for your show of passion? Voting for McCain/Palin you just convinced me.
OBAMA: POVERTY PIMP FOR THE FORD FOUNDATION
I just visited this site. What are you talking about? What did Obama do? I am trying to cast an educated vote, and I wanna know.
Go do some research, got time to blog, then it always helps to go read voting issues etc. We don’t really focus here on Obama.
Horse shit…Larry and Susan are committed to ripping Obama to shreds. That’s a fact
Your facts are hallucinations, Gomer. Why would they feel the need to do that when Barky does a stellar job of it all by himself? No go away little boy.
Obama shreds himself. All we do is juxtapose his words and actions with his words and actions. If he was not so self-contradictory, then he would not be drawing and quartering himself by pursuing his ambivalent positions.
So, when is this new “barracuda” going to answer to the media?
Looks like political cowardice to me.
fuck the media, they have proven to be useless morons…
when is Baracktrack going to answer to the american people and have a town hall meeting with mccain?
yeah, that’s right… never…
he is too afraid of the american voter…
a. hillary
b. mccain
america first!
“Baracktrack” – love that. Fits perfectly: public financing, wiretapping, surge, off-shore drilling, need we go on?
absolutely USELESS MORON CNN AND MSNBC MEDIA
none of them worth a LICK
goin down in flames too
that phoenix we were hoping for has come up from the other side of the mountain – Gov. Palin (R-AK) unbelievable and most of them never saw her coming
I think Hillary prepared the way
(there was something in the way bill kristol talked about her over 2 months ago on FOX that made me look her up)
I remember thinking – gee, wouldn’t THAT be cool!
I even remember asking for McCain to consider her HERE on the blog (not that he reads here)
but I’m glad he connected with the same wave length in the end!!
Very COOL!
kristol had an unabashed crush on SP – his comments about her caught my attention too and i thought, hmmmm…
it’s clear mccain’s people are on these blogs. too much of his language in his conv. speech seemed to come straight from pro-hillary voices.
Nothing wrong with that!
It’s a smart man that takes good ideas from EVERY side!
I heard him say something to that effect in his speech. He did a pretty good job of it. You can tell Cindy and Sarah are jazzing him up!!
And having Sarah’s hubbahubbahubby around makes Sen McCain straighten rightup, I noticed~ even Bristol’s BF/fiance looks rock solid yummy
(ugh not that looks matter but dayum this is an attractive group – lol minus the old guy – aww I’m kiddin – us old people can do that)
He deserves a break in life and it looks like he got it! Good for him. I hope he uses this gift wisely!! (for the record books will look terrible thanks to BUSH)
Of course you base this on your personal experience as a politician. Actually most o supporters just look like cowards based on their writings.
Didn’t she kick your Obami’s ass hard enough already this week?
I would think you would want her not to get any airtime to tear into his non record anymore.
If you want her on tv why dont you call OPRAH and tell her to let her on the show!
Come on Oprah!
If he is the One, why you worry?
poor oprah
all those billions of dollars and she is still beyond insecure about herself and her race
so much so that she would cast aside her “good common sense” as a woman and get in line behind a black man who’s ROOTS are as short and as thin as his resume
it’s all about being black for her (the ONE, the ONE, the WHAT????) puhleaseeeeee quit crying
I had no clue how racist she had become
all that money and she’s still STUPID and a BIG OLD PHONY
did you see her balling her eyes out in Denver?? gawd awful and embarrassing!!
My question, If he’s the One, why didn’t he have an open convention?
Sarah = ratings
ratings = money
No one gets a taste of Sarah till they agree to stop their shenanigans. Whoever commits to jumping off the Obama ship gets a taste of Sarah (and probably any other dirt the Repubs have).
At some point, somebody in the media is going to blink and try to hedge their bets.
My guess ABC first …
Ellen Will have Sarah on, don’t sweat it.
Sarah will be on “Ellen”? The lesbian talk show hostess who recently married her actress girlfriend? I highly doubt it.
I would bet on it.
Don’t forget she had McCain on.
But McCain isn’t the far right’s poster child. Palin is. There’s some dangerous water to be tread if she goes on Ellen.
She had on McCain and she will have on Palin. That will be an interesting conversation
When she gets ready to. When they have learned that they are not sole arbiters of public opinion and king of the world, and no one is obligated to jump through hoops for their sleazy asses while being savaged on their little TeVee cocktail hours.
That’s when.
When is Obama going to do a town meeting with McCain?
Didnt Obama say anytime anyplace? If he can’t stand up to McCain, how is he going to stand up to Putin and Chavez?
Maybe when Barry stops ducking town hall debates with John McCain.
When is Obama going to answer questions about his COLB, his campaign contributions, his associations with nefarious individuals and organizations?
gotalife — I guess you would be the expert on cowards being Obama knows he is not an American and that he is being sued — but he thinks he can run out the clock and win before he gets caught. Thats a coward.
Hey Obama avoided Fox for, what, a couple of years? If Palin wants to avoid the virulent pro-Obama media (CNN and MSNBC come to mind), then I’m behind her on that. Why should she subject herself to mindless bullying?
Criticizing Palin is absolutely the wrong strategy for the Obama camp to take. America loves her. They should focus on the GOP platform in general. But they won’t do that and thus, they will lose, which they should. Hubris will get you every time.
Talking to lots of young americans in Ohio they are blowing right by Palin’s facade and hypocritical stances. In Ohio the youth vote will trump the old white rust belt racist. The scale is all ready tipped. (those only cell phone users)
Palin is not fooling the young in this state with that cross around her neck and her acceptance of blowing up Iraqi babies and attacking Iran for no good reason while wanting to protect fetuses. It is not working they are seeing right through it.
ROFl, you are a great comedienne!
Will you have beer tents and rockbands set up?
As someone who is actually in Ohio and work with those young Americans, you couldn’t be more wrong.
I work all over Ohio and have for years. How in the hell do you think we made Strickland our Congressman down here in southeastern Ohio. You may not have noticed but he is now the Governor. Strickland all long with thinking Republican, Dems and Independents will tip Ohio for Obama. They will knock out some of the racist folks who have been voting against their own self interest for years.
Young folks in Ohio looking right past Palin.
She is a whacko creationist. Whacko
All the republicans have to do is offer a McCain Palin Beer Bash on every college campus on election day and the Youth Vote for Obama is cut by 80%.
I think it was reported that she is going to do a college tour.
J, you must admit that, with the results of the last 7 days, it would have been MUCH smarter for the BO side to have held their fire. The minions jumped the shark on this one. Attacking pregnant teen, affair based on nothing, the baby isn’t hers it’s her daughters, lies, scandals, general breathlessness!!! When will the b*$ch quit?
All it did was REALLY increase the ratings for the Repub convention and then she delivered a good fire-up-the-base speech and now SHE’S the new star in town. Their’s nothing sadder than the last minute of someone’s 15, you know what I mean?
Is there enough unconvicted felons awaiting trial in Ohio to tip the scales in Obamas direction? You do know they canvas prisons registering “new” voters right? Once you have a felony conviction you are not allowed to vote. Obama wants to give them one last shot. What a guy.
J
History will show that America won the Iraq war for the Iraqi people.
Iraq will be a rich and prosperous Arab country which is democratic and allies itself with the United States
Obamabots wished for defeat of America because they fail to understand the United States position in the world.
The United States along with its allies including now Iraq protect the western worlds vital interests and the world from terrorism
You can’t run and hide…Cowards!!!
You have been exposed as wishing for America’s defeat.
Wishing that America would be humiliated in the eyes of the world.
Wishing that America would loose it’s position in the world and retreat disgraced for all time.
You are a disgrace for wishing American defeat and humiliation!
You have your head up where the sun does not shine. We are wading through the blood of over a million Iraqi people, and 4000 American soldiers all who died based on a “pack of lies”. There are 5 million Iraqi refugees and 50,ooo Americans injured from that war of choice.
We are not there for the Iraqi people and you know it. That is unless you have the I.Q. of a rock.
The whole world knows we illegally and immorally invaded Iraq for long term oil interest and for U.S. and Israel’s territorial expansion
and your point is?
j- since you spend so much time here, you might as well learn how to spell -

ROTFL!!!
The youth and cell phone only vote will carry the day!
Google “youth vote John Kerry” and you will see how that was the rallying cry in 2004 and how it failed.
There was also lots of talk of how Kerry voters were being under sampled because many were cell phone only.
Pollsters are apparently now calling cell phones, (Gallup specifically mentions them in its releases) so the cell phone bias thing is pure myth now.
The youth vote ALWAYS disappoints, ALWAYS.
Besides that, recent polls have shown that young voters who were ecstatic about Obama several months ago are now much more lukewarm. He has lost the aura of a great reformer and “new kind of politican” and is seen as a typical politician.
On the other hand, all three wings of the Republican party are fired up over Palin. Social Conservatives, Fiscal Conservatives and National Security Conservatives all love her and view her as “one of us”.
I believe that Zerobama’s actual vote numbers will be at least 2 or 3 points below the final polls and perhaps double that, because of:
1) A slight Bradley effect.
2) Last minute lingering doubts about his experience, toughness, honesty, true beliefs on race, loyalty to America, and general preparedness for the highest office in the world.
It seems to me, that Obama as POTUS seems “cool” (for lack of a better word) when the electon is far off, but the closer you get to election day the riskier it seems and many will go with the stable choice of John McCain.
I’m betting almost 1% of the public will drive to their polling place planning to vote Obama, but will change their minds in the voting booth.
All that probably won’t matter anyway, as McCain will likely be ahead 5 or more points by the the end of October.
artemis — When the Dean wing of the party decided to fix the primaries for Obama they sealed their fate. Yes they will lose because Obama and Biden are one big yawn and America has a new heroine and she has the country excited. Obama is so yesterday’s news.

Suspected U.S. drone attack kills 5 in Pakistan
“Pakistan reserves the right to appropriately retaliate,” he told visiting German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung.
The anger over U.S. attacks comes in the run-up to a presidential election.
Could this one point be settled right here? John McCain is no George Bush. or more correctly stated… George Bush is no where near to being a John McCain. When Kerry was attacked for patriotism in 2004… McCain was the one who stood up for him. McCain was even considered as Kerry’s V.P. McCain is in no way like Bush.
Amen.
You’re damn right. I have always like and respected McCain. What GWB did to him in 2000 was unconscionable. I don’t believe for a minute that McCain has forgotten it, either (or the henchmen who were responsible for that dreck).
GWB is a shallow little man. McCain is the real McCoy.
“I have always like and respected McCain. What GWB did to him in 2000 was unconscionable.”
Yes. McCain adopts a non-white baby, and GWB shows pictures of the kid and spreads rumours McCain is the natural father. Exactly like the rumours the O-bots spread about the Palin’s child. More of the same as GWB is coming from the O-bots, not from McCain.
thats why McCain voted with the Bush administration 9 out of 10 times.
wrong. but barack [REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR] obama voted for the bush-cheney energy bill. and barack [REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR] obama voted for the bridge to nowhere twice.
[REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR] obama loves earmarks and tax breaks to the oil companies. [REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR] obama is out of touch.
“thats why McCain voted with the Bush administration 9 out of 10 times.”
One of those times was immigration reform. You don’t agree? You hold his support of Bush on immigration reform against him?
McCain opposed Bush on torture. That’s a monumental issue for the left, at least so they claim. But if you just want to play with numbers. McCain is a conservative, everybody knows that. I’m not going to attack a Republican who opposed Bush on torture.
To J the Nincompoop. Approximately 40% of those “Bush” votes were votes related to the Iraq war: funding bills, cutting off funding bills (dems won first time with 52 votes and Bush vetoed, veto was sustained, dems kept bringing up the same bill time and time again getting less and less votes), surge policy, and inconsequential bills that pass overwhelmingly, e.g. naming a post office. Now for the other important stuff he voted against every pork barrel spending bill, torture, the Cheney energy bill that Obama supported and others I have not listed. We do not want another Bush term. Electing Obama means we have another Bush in the white house; an inexperienced liar. Why the h*ll would we want to do that?,
for real
a much better point
Bush WISHES he could be half the man McCain is
(screw the dangling preposition) LOL
I have no problem with McCain or Sarah
would someone PLEASE convince me that losers like McConnell and Boner!! Will not still be filibustering EVERY THING anyone tries to pass and not whine and cry over every damn thing the dems to as pay back for the shit THEY did 4 or 8 yrs earlier?
take it like men you whiners!!!
they’ll be over it soon enough (hopefully)
then you can all call it even and McCain and Palin can hopefully go about the tast of cleaning up the White House!!!
GOD HELP US!
pardon the typos
I think this is the biggest strategic blunder this campaign has made (and I doubt very much the Hillary would have made the same mistake). They are campaigning against Bush but he is now irrelevant.
This is a losing strategy but I don’t know if they have the time or the smarts to re-tool fast enough. They need to be going against the Repub stewardship of the economy and try and make everyone forget that the Dems have held Congress for the last 18 months…”it’s the economy stupid”. God, this all just makes me remember what an effing brilliant politician Bill Clinton was – the current crop is like the third string on the 8th grade junior varsity team by comparison. Sad really.
docelder — as a lifelong Democrat voting Republican this year — I love John and Cindy McCain. I will proudly vote for him and of course that terrific woman Sarah Palin.
You know you’ve wounded the other side when they can’t stop talking about your shot. Palin really hurt BO with her jab at his saintly claim to have been a community organizer.
The fact is that many of us give long and hard of ourselves in our local communities. But unlike BO, we don’t expect a salary – or an inauguration for it – AND we also hold down a job while volunteering. Has this guy ever really worked at a job? Oh, I know he has had salaried positions, but exactly what has he accomplished?
So, I hope the McCain/Palin team keeps up this line of attack. And there’s plenty more ways to hit him.
We want a hero, not a zero.
“The fact is that many of us give long and hard of ourselves in our local communities. But unlike BO, we don’t expect a salary – or an inauguration for it.”
You’re so right. Obama picked community organizing as a path into a political career. It’s easy for an activist to network with the political elite (state legislators, councilmembers, city commissioners, etc.) because you’re doing their job, solving their problems and letting them take the credit. Obama wanted to cash in on the political contacts he made.
Both G.W. Bush and John Kerrey are Skull and Bones. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to know a bit more about the secret society.
The late Prof. Antony Sutton, an expert on Skull and Bones, was interviewed about the Order and the video is available here…

WJC is Skull & Bones too.
“WJC is Skull & Bones too.”
voterinexile, you got proof of that outlandish claim?
This election is about character and experience. It is the strong point for Republicans who can push personal values and issues absolutely do not matter. It is a shame that even at NoQuarterUSA some folks are parroting the anti-Palin trash pushed by the nutroots gangs. My suggestion is to set aside all talk of issues, they don’t matter as it will be a Republican administration with a Democratic Congress. On character and experience you’ve got the important concerns for the election and where Obama is an absolute failure–ties to corruption and not fighting it, ties to terrorism and not fighting it, no executive experience, no real experience period. He’s done nothing but spend other peoples money amongst his friends and associates. His wife has pocketed nearly 3x raise because of his Senate seat and the connection she offered her employer. Obama has ties to people lie terrorist Ayers, Klonksy, and Dohrn, racist black liberation preachers like Meeks and Wright, and so, so many more. These are not the type of people McCain or Palin hang out with. This is the real difference that will win/lose votes.
Well said, Mr. Weaver!
Yes, Matthew Weaver, it will win votes of those who are issue driven. However, the past has shown us that many voters count on the media for their info and that is going to be a huge problem because they are in the tank for BO. Let’s be vigilant, because Obama’s backed by political operatives that will do anything to win.
interestingly enough – over the past few months I have used every opportunity to talk politics with anyone who would listen. Since Wednesday evening people I have least expected contacted me to discuss Sarah Palin. While the bleeding heart liberal democrats are crying their eyes out, conservative America (democrats and republicans) LOVE HER.
This Election has been up to know about supressing the opposition vote.
Palin just flipped that on its head.
Who ever gets more to the polls wins this time.
And as you all know, Soccer and Hockey moms have lots and lots of minivans to help get out the vote.
oh I don’t even think it will be close anymore
McCain/Palin (we should all get used to it)
(I can now say it will be close to a landslide if not a total full out landslide)
I have already bet 2 people from my household
(I won the last bet, this next one will be nice right before Christmas, I can use it on gifts) hehe!
I still don’t know if I’ll get a bumpersticker or not
Michelle Obama is also a racist black liberation preacher. She introduced herself to South Carolina voters by mentioning Reverend Jeremiah “God DAmn AMeriKKKa” Wright. And then there is the whitey tape and her friendship with Farrakhan’s wife.
this really is a racist site
go back to your alphabet soup
there are MANY RACES, COLORS, CREEDS, RELIGIONS, and PARTIES HERE
it’s diverse
we fight
we get over it (mostly)
like most blogs
this is the most diverse I’ve ever been to and MOST of the info is accurate (not all comments for sure but so far most all the articles are spot on)
go back to your soup letter J
She did introduce herself to SC voters by mentioned Reverend Wright.
New Yorker,
“Earlier on the day that Obama visited the nursery school, she addressed a congregation at the Pee Dee Union Baptist Church, in Cheraw, a hamlet of about six thousand known as “The Prettiest Town in Dixie.” The church’s makeshift gravel parking lot, next to the Pee Dee Ice and Fuel Company and bounded by train tracks, was full. After an invocation by the Reverend Jerry Corbett and an introduction by the mayor of Cheraw, Obama came to the pulpit. “You all got up bright and early just for me?” she asked the mostly elderly, almost all-black crowd. “Yes!” they roared. Obama continued, “On behalf of my church home and my pastor, Reverend Wright, I bring greetings.”
The Whitey Tape
Michelle Obama and Farrakan’s wife: deep ties and deep affection
Michelle Obama is racist. Just review the evidence.
You obviously don’t know Susan and Larry. They don’t mess around with anyone that is racist or sexist.
If you don’t follow the rules, you’re out of here. However, Rev. Wright does hate America.
“Larry and Susan don’t mess around with anyone that is racist or sexist.”
I agree… but don’t mind “hoping” for a little “Racier and Sexier” on occasion.
You are kidding yourselves
No, not racist. We see Obama clearly.
MCCAIN/PALIN ‘08
Find a racist quote, liar.
my grandmother is a typical white person…

Wow, took you long enough, isn’t that suppose to be the first line you guys spew?
In the civil war over a half a million of my gun
clinging relatives died so the slaves could be freed…..that is more than the combined total of all the remaining wars since.
Get over it…stop spouting racism….Give us credit for once in your life…the reparations were paid hundreds of years ago….and one more term for you to learn
look out it’s more than one word so look closely and read slowly
REVERSE RACISM
LOOK IT UP….THINK ABOUT IT.
(freaking political correctness…sigh)
No. Obama is the race baiter, lying on the Clinton in order to win the SC primary and the southern primaries. I am an AA female supporter of Hillary who marched with Dr. King in standing up to the race-baiters of that time, i.e. George Wallace, Lester Maddox, et. al. In Nov. I will do my duty again and stand up against the new Wallace and Maddox the new lying race-baiter Obama, by voting for McCain.
Did you know McCain opposed the MLK holiday? You are going to vote against the historic African American candidate from the party of JFK, FDR, and Lincoln, and vote for the party of the KKK?
Lincoln was a Republican FF
Hahahahahaha.
You are not serious? The Republican party of Lincoln’s time isn’t the Republican party of today. Same name, nowhere near the same beliefs.
Did you know Barack Obama refused to visit Memphis in order to commemorate the anniversary of MLK’s assassination. Did you know he refuses to be seen at Tavis Smiley’s State of the Black Union?
Barack Obama is ashamed of AFrican-Americans. He also lied to the community in a church in Selma, Alabama.
Obama uses African-Americans. He also used Reverend Wright.
Sorry Matthew.
I am still with Clinton.
No way, no how, no McCain.
The gop destroy our economy and country and will never vote gop. Period.
If you were truly with Clinton, you would oppose the candidate who accused her of racism. You are out of touch, and you are an adherent to the precepts of Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s GOD DAMN AMERIKKKA church. Anyone who votes for Obama loves Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers. They are also those who desire to aid Rezko and his various associates.
A vote for Obama is a vote for Michelle Obama, Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Reverend Meeks, Donnie McClurkin and other assorted trash from the ghettos of inner city Chicago.
I was talking to Matthew because we blogged at TPM supporting Clinton.
Its the economy stupid:
“Home Forclosures Hit Record High In 2nd Quarter
Greenspan: Don’t Use Fed As A “Magical Piggy Bank”
Unemployment Jumps To 6.1%; 84,000 Jobs Lost In Aug.”
I know the Clintons can run a robust economy and know McCain and the gop can’t.
0blahblah did nothing for southside Chicago. He would do even less as POTUS. We aren’t buying your hopey-changey feel-good nonsense. You’re wasting your time.
BTW: Since you spend so much time here trying to convert the inconvertible, you should change your name to lookingforalifesomewhere.
Gotalife, who are you trying to fool?
Weren’t you obot troll trashing pumas and hillary while Hillary was still in the race on this site for the past few months?
Now you are trying to claim that you are with Hillary?
Now That’s Change we can Believe in!
might want to chagne your nicname to gotaflipflop.
Matthew,
I don’t see this from NQ regulars, mostly new, more than likely trolls, stirring up sh*t, it pretty obvious. As far as issues, or whatever people talk about, it’s pretty much something that seems to have always had a life of it’s own here, no set rules, we roll with how it goes per discussion. I get your drift, and we see many sides to issues; the ones that will never see the light of day in the press, and the ones we bring into the light, finally the ones on fire and consuming many.
Well said!
Speaking of Michelle Obama and her fat raise, while watching the video introducing Cindy McCain, that contrast between the two potential First Ladies was striking.
Cindy is a philanthropist who founded a program and has flown around the world to give medical care to those who need it but cannot afford or access.
Michelle gets a huge salary from a hospital and helped create a program to steer patients without medical insurance, ELSEWHERE.
The Democratic Party is going to die if it does not get rid of the Obama-style, faux-Liberalism, where hypocrites cry crocodile tears over the plight of the poor, criticize America and Americans (who do give generously) for not doing enough (see Barack at Saddleback), yet do nothing for the poor themselves.
Yes, this is an issue. The 0bamas gave 1% of their income to charity. One percent! That’s freakin disgraceful.
I Michelle 0bama grooming her daughters for careers in service? Or does she just want other people’s children out of the lucrative jobs in corporate America?
What a bunch hypocrites?
And this is what I learned about the Democratic elite this Primary. They’re full of shit. They talk it, but don’t walk it.
Are Skull and Bones relevant in a conversation about Obama and McCain? Just wondering….
Far more relevant in the long run than some alleged whitey tape. It’s about time that Americans learned more about the secret and quasi-secret societies like Skulls, Bilderbergers, etc., which are dragging this country into an unhallowed New world Order.
Does this mean we won’t hear the “Whitey Tape”?
I hear the whitey tape is going to be released as soon as Daily Kos and Andre Sullivan and AKP Media produce the Pregnancy suit Palin wore.
Daily Kos and the others didn’t promise to release anything. Larry’s the one who said Obama’s opponents had the tape and to expect it to surface. Well I’m still waiting on it.
well you have to give cridet to Larry then no?
Atleast he is claiming they are going to produce evidence before election day.
Daily shit for brains just throws smears with no evidence and no promise that evidence will appear before election day.
I’m getting impatient. I need to know when to microwave the popcorn.
My guess is this:
First the Republicans are going to let the sexist thing play out to best effect.
Then they will start dropping the bombs we know on obama in 527 ads and get him on the defensive and off message.
Once they get him and the media going at it full steam they will start lobbing the bombs we don’t know much about yet to devestating effect.
Timing wise it has to be handled very carefully to ensure a nice steady erosion of support for obama.
If its drastic he will give another hopey dopey jedi mind trick speach and have 2 weeks of the Main Stream Media falling all over themselves talking about how the speech transcended himanity to a higher state of conciousness and gave us all angel wings and that is not what they want.
Expect the worst of the shit to hit the fan the last two weeks of october.
It does not help the Republicans to be very far ahead of obama going into the voting at all. It could supress turnout for them with the “oh he has it in the bag i dont need to vote” crowd.
But Lets not forget Republicans historicly turn out to vote, dems are more iffy.
And energized republicans really turn out to vote. And They are energized right now.
Damn, all ya had to say was Halloween and I could have saved my eyesight.
Sorry, i don’t peddle in Hope and Change.
When i put my thoughts down they tend to go beyond the limit of letters you can put on a business card in 75 point typeface.
ROFL. Kill ‘em with kindness, Jeremiah.
Hahahahaha
It will be released right before the bell. So there won’t be any time for the effect to fade away, so voters will be going to the polls in a state of shock. The GOP wizards aren’t stupid.
Looks like it.
Got credibility?
Need a life? You obviously have none of your own.
Oh nawty nawty. Was that called for?
palin is as igno
