Update: McCain/Palin campaign are in Colorado Springs handing out American Flags with a great background story, they were found near dumpsters by a vendor after the Democratic National Convention bound for the dump. McCain and Palin recycled the flags and handed them out to people attending the rally. See the video for yourself:

Have you ever wondered what happens to those flags after the convention? The mystery is solved… and RedState has all the proof in pictures. RedState gave us a bird’s eye view of the convention trash when all the folks left the Pepsi Center….when the speeches were done…..when they all headed to the over the top coronation at Invesco Field. It wasn’t a pretty sight, so much for recycling.
I know for a fact there is a right way and an incorrect way to dispose of the American flag….. and throwing it away isn’t the right way. So here goes a lesson on disposing of the American Flag…..American Flag 101 for all good citizens who threw their flags in the trash….
According to the USA Flag Site a flag should be burned or destroyed in a dignified manner. Okay that is Flag Etiquette for Dummies! (It is possible that veterans organizations like the American Legion may offer disposal of flags as well.)
The problem with these flags they were neither tattered or torn, still in good shape as a matter fact, it is just that people just discarded them without a thought! Shame on the folks at the Democratic Convention. I know you all sleep better at night because of that flag and those who defend it! Too bad you have no respect for it!

I wish that congress would pass a bill for the president to sign that designates the flag as a national monument and therefore must not be subjected to vandalism or acts of vandalism. Then it will subject to the same respect and treatment as govt. buildings and other national monuments.
That’s right. And every time anyone wants to use the flag they should have to pay a tax for using public property. Not only that but then businesses shouldn’t be allowed to sell items that show the flag because they would be profiting from a public resource! H.E.double hockey-mom sticks we should just ban use of the flag. Maybe just have 100 or so in the country at any one time so that we can post troops around them and make sure no one has the ability to do anything bad to it.

As some one who has been to many pro troop rallies(something they call “pro war rallies), I usually bring my own flag, but it always comes home with me. If those flags meant so much to the people in Denver, why couldn’t they take the flags home as a sentimental reminder of the history making event( and I mean that with respect ) that they had just been a part of?

The flags were spotted by a Scoutmaster who made a few phone calls and the next thing you know a troop of Boy Scouts showed up and went dumpster diving. They collected 12,000 flags, transferring them into 84 large trash bags for transportation.

Analyzing the green claims, the writer noted that the Dem VIPs arrived in big honking SUVs and limos, and the vehicles had their engines running while waiting for their passengers. He has a picture (though you cannot from a still see an engine running — however this is not a political blog but a wonk blog so I give it credibility).

On the foreign policy front and trash left behind—don’t you think the Putin quote that the Georgian/Russian confrontation was manufactured by the US in order to make one of the candidates look good kind of interesting because it was clearly aimed at the idea it made McCain look good. I thought that was a real left-handed compliment to McCain and still wonder what Putin is up to. But it also speaks to the combined international experience of Obama and Biden. I am sure Biden is selected to add that international experience to the ticket. The only VP choice I can think of that relies on the VP choice to bolster the candidate’s international experience is Bush II: Bush II and Obama—so many scary parallels.

The Democratic presidential ticket of Obama-Biden holds a six percentage point lead over the Republican McCain-Palin ticket, 48% to 42%, in Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Thursday to Saturday. This includes two days of interviews after Obama’s acceptance speech as well as McCain’s vice presidential announcement.

I do come from a different era, I guess. I wouldn’t think to throw a flag like that away–I’d save it as a convention souvenier, to show the family, to tell about my adventures, and maybe to place on the grave of a loved one on Memorial Day or Independence Day.

Does anybody out there have any information on the group that is run by Howard Dean’s brother? I read somewhere that immediately after Dean lost his bid for the presidency that this group had a long term plan to change this country. Their first act was to see that Howard Dean was made head of the DNC. I have been trying to locate the article but haven’t been able to find it, so if anybody knows or has heard anything please let me know.

Charley James, the author of the article that is unlikely to have his blogspot site shut down for Obama bias, also claims through ‘anonymous sources’ that Palin called Hillary Clinton a “b#^@h” in the same breath. It is getting pretty desperate out there.

But seriously, folks, how many attendees who had just witnessed Obama’s speech are likely to casually discarded the flag they were enthusiastically waving during the event? Not very many. That’s something you’d hang onto and probably carry home with you. Attendees believed they were watching an historical moment unfolding before their eyes. They were: The first acceptance speech of the first African-American candidate, if nothing else, on the anniversary of another landmark speech. Believe me, you’d hang onto that red white and blue memento.
Of course, there are a few fools in every crowd. And probably more than a few in your average stadium clean-up crew.

What’s really shameful about this is that the behavior is so expected that the McCain camp kept a look out for it. It’s TYPICAL for democrats to do things like place port-a-johns on top of war memorials, throw american flags in the trash etc.
It’s one of the things that seperates republicans from democrats. Democrats have no respect for our country. No….it’s more than that. Democrats HATE our country and actively mean the people who live here harm.
Obama is syptomatic of that but by no means is this isolated to him. It’s been getting worse and worse each election cycle. When people like Ann Coulter quip that democrats are traitors….she’s right. More than anything else, this caused me to switch parties, as I became more and more aware of it. When it comes time to get votes, the democrats put on a big show of patriotism. But, once the cameras are turned off, the flags get wadded up and thrown in the trash (if not used to wipe someone’s ass).
That is the bottom line. And one of the things I hope is that Obama is a wake up call to those that normally vote democrat. That he is so bad, so blatant and obvious that it wakes people the hell up….to either switch parties or, better yet, kick the traitors and other miscellaneous scum out of the democratic party and reform it.

Notice the redstate pictures. The flags were rolled neatly in the bags. They were for use in future rallies but the McCain camp stole the flags and then fabricated the story of them being thrown out.

So while everyone here is trying to prove Obama is ineligible to run for the presidency because of claims he has citizenship in Indonesia as well; the dems quietly pass a bill to take any means of legal recourse questioning the citizenship of McCain, who was born on a base in Panama, off the table. That is just the sort of sneaky underhanded move by the “win at any cost” democrats.

Get off your high horse, knucklehead. That bill had its wording changed. It originally was co-sponsored by Obama so that in its original wording, Barry would become eligible.
It was so transparent that the extra wording had nothing to do with McCain that it was taken out and Barry was unable to make the play.

Do you think I’m stupid enough to not read the bill as it was introduced? The bill recognizes people BORN ON MILITARY BASES as natural born citizens. This is something Obama doesn’t claim.
Also there is a little attachment on the page recognizing the bill “This measure has not been amended since it was introduced. The summary of that version is repeated here”. So either you are a liar or there is some grand conspiracy to cover up Obama’s insidious actions by a website that simply reports bills introduced.

I’ve run into a fun fact. Since Obama announced his entrance in the presidential race (Feb. 10th 2007), he has been the chief sponsor of 65 senate bills. At the same time McCain has sponsored 15 bills.
So if Obama has zero accomplishments in the senate and he does more than four times the work McCain does, what does that say of McCain’s accomplishments?

C’mon guys. I don’t like Obama anymore than the next person, but McCain is trying to capitalize on a non-issue. It was wasteful for these things to be thrown out, but it’s a total stretch to make it about patriotism.
These are not real flags. They are miniature replicas. They do not fall under the rules for disposing of flags. And by the way, someone who has been in the military should know this.
People have flag facsimiles on many things – handkerchiefs, underwear, shirts. Shall they burn those, too? These miniatures are not real flags. Don’t be a reactionary – it reflects poorly on us all.
The sad thing about this story is that it is being changed and edited as the days go by. The Denver Post has done a complete white wash of their earlyier article. The dumpster sized bins of flags sat on the loading dock for a week, NO ONE ever came or called to claim the flags. HOWEVER I do not beleive they were meant for the trash. I feel it was an over site and ya know some one was fired over this blunder.

Most of those bills were writtten by other senators. Emil Jones took them from them, and gave them to Obama to sign, even though he did not work on them. You’ll find more facts if you read more, and from a wider varity of sources.
